Patience Jonathan fuelled my conflict with the president-Amaechi

Featured Image

The Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, on Sunday said his disagreement with President Goodluck Jonathan was fueled in part by the President’s wife, Dame Patience Jonathan.
He said this after the premiere of a documentary on Amaechi years at the Silver Bird Galleria, Abuja.
According to him..

“We had a disagreement in principle between me and the President. Have you seen a country where the Commissioner of Police is reporting to the wife of the President? It’s in Rivers State.
“Have you seen a country where the Brigade Commander or the Navy Commander or Air Force Commander is reporting to the wife of the President? It’s in Rivers State.”

He explained that he was convinced that such conduct would not help in the development of any nation, saying he took a stand against it.

Amaechi stressed that Nigeria must never again go back to such dark days, stressing that public officers should learn to lead by the rule so as to avoid abuse of office by their spouses. He pointed out that it was the husband of Mrs. Jonathan, who was elected.

The governor revealed that in his own case, he ensured that his wife knew her limits and he always told her she had no right to call any of his commissioners for anything, because the people voted him into office as governor, not her.
Amaechi challenged anyone, who had doubts about his performance in office, to go to Rivers State and see for himself or herself.
He also said all he did in the state were not for self-glorification but to bequeath a legacy for successive administrations in the state to sustain.
The governor added that 90 per cent of the people, who worked with him, betrayed him.

He further showcased his achievements, spanning all sectors of the state, wondering why the Federal Government was desperate about casting his administration in bad light even when he spent N105bn doing federal roads.
Amaechi pointed out that he kept a proper account of his stewardship and the books were open for all to see. This, he said, gave him the courage to sustain the struggle, expressing joy that history would vindicate him in the end.

We Are Not Keeping Falcao: Manchester United

Featured Image

29 game s five goals is all Radamel Falcao, a renowned striker across Europe brought to Manchester United throughout his loan spell. The Colombian was a huge and expensive disappointment and would be on his way back to Monaco.

However following the 0-0 draw against Hull City to end the season, Louis Van Gaal put an end to the controversy surrounding Falcao’s Manchester United future as he finally made it clear that the former Atletico Madrid man would not be joining Manchester United on a permanent basis. “Falcao is a top professional and a good human being. On behalf of myself and everyone at the club I would like to wish him well for the future,” Louis van Gaal told MUTV.

Radamel Falcao, would not have shortage of suitors as Monaco are looking to loan him out again due to the financial implications of keeping him. The problem is the price the Colombian would now command following such a horrendous campaign at Old Trafford for him.

We’ve Began Walcott Talks: Wenger

Featured Image

Arsene Wenger has hinted that Arsenal have begun the process to extend former Southampton man, Theo Walcott’s stay at the emirates as both side begin talks.

Arsenalwere believed to be willing to let Walcott go after the England international spent most of the season on the sidelines and struggled for form when fit. Wenger however told reporters that Arsenal were still willing to keep Walcott. This on the back of an incredible display of goal scoring skills as Walcott bagged a hat trick in Arsenal’s final league game of the season. “The result does not change anything. With a hat-trick or without hat-trick we want him to stay,” Wenger told reporters. “We are in negotiations, we started to speak to his agent before he scored his hat-trick.”

Well Liverpool can forget about Walcott for the mean time as Wenger wove off any questions about bringing in Raheem Sterling.

The Great Farewells: Drogba, Lampard, Gerrard

Featured Image

Three legends who shaped the last 10 years in English, European, and indeed world football played their final premiership games today. As Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and Steven Gerrard all played their final games, their teammates and opponent s had no choice but to pay respects to some of the very greatest of the Premiership era.

Lampard and Drogba both enjoyed victories with Lampard scoring in his while for Gerrard it wasn’t a defeat but a humiliation despite the Liverpool captain finding the net. We would not remember them for their last games but we will remember Lampard for being the highest scoring midfielder in the premier league’s history, we will remember his long shots and his loyalty to Chelsea even when he scored against them while playing for Manchester City

Sterling Walks Alone: Liverpool Fans Hurl Abuses At Teenage Starlet

Featured Image

Well, he had it coming. All the fame and praise got to his head. Raheem Sterling began negotiating extravagant contracts, and threatening to leave Liverpool for free. Following a disastrous final game, Liverpool fans showed Sterling exactly what they thought of him

Raheem had gone over to salute the traveling fans (who had just watched their team receive a 6-1 thrashing) like his teammates but rather than receive a round of applause, insults and profanities were hurled at the youngster who might not be a Liverpool player for much longer.

Liverpool fans don’t take likely to disloyalty. He can ask Michael Owen, or Steven Gerrard (who was only in talks with Chelsea, not announcing that he would leave).

I don’t Know What Cech Wants: Mourinho

Featured Image

Jose Mourinho may have won the Barclays premier league trophy as well as the manager of the year trophy but he might be on the verge of losing a club legend and an important player as he admitted that Petr Cech might decide to leave

Speaking to reporters after his side were finally handed the 2014/2015 Barclays premier league trophy, Mourinho who was clearly elated called it vindication of his good work. When asked about Petr Cech’s future at the club, Mourinho said“He’s a legend of this club but he’s a legend at 32 years old, which is a very young legend for a goalkeeper. One of our strengths this season was to have the two best goalkeepers in the Premier League. The reality is that Petr played lots of matches in every competition so we made him feel important. I can cope with it, for me it’s no problem to have both but obviously I don’t know what Petr is thinking.” The Portuguese clearly admits that the 32 year old may leave the club but he is hoping he stays.

Cech is on Arsenal’s radar and Real Madrid are also believed to be interested in the Czech international.

Jonas Gutierez: The Miracle Story

Featured Image

Less than a year ago, Argentine, Jonas Gutierez was diagnosed with testicular cancer and many feared that his playing days may be over. The Newcastle midfielder however showed great spirit to return to the game and earlier today, became a hero as his strike ensured that Newcastle United would be playing in the Barclays Premier League next season.

Jonas Gutierez could not start the season with Newcastle as he had to be flown to Argentina where he began chemotherapy to treat testicular cancer and the player admitted that he feared his best days were behind him. But the support and the prayers of the Newcastle fans and his teammates were enough to drive him back to his feet and in February, against Manchester United he made his return to the pitch. His performances, though spirited haven’t been excellent until today, when Newcastle needed a win to avoid the risk of Relegation. Sissoko had put them ahead but with West Ham threatening to equalize and put Newcastle’s season in, Jonas steeped up with an emphatic strike which was deflected into the net.

His comeback is not complete but Jonas has shown us that you can come back from even the biggest setbacks and put your name down in history, if you are dedicated.

Fuel Scarcity: Airtel Warns Of Deterioration In Services

Featured Image

Barely a day after fellow telecoms provider MTN lamented over the fuel scarcity, Airtel has warned of a decline in services.

Airtel had first sent a text message to costumers, telling them of an impending “strain” in services, before releasing an official statement.

The statement read:

Airtel Networks Limited wishes to inform our customers and the general public that the prevailing situation in the country regarding the scarcity of diesel and other petroleum products is presently impacting negatively our commitments to delivering best-in-class quality of service and seamless telephony experience to all Nigerians.

While we are currently doing everything within our means as well as going the extra mile to ensure that all our base stations and switches are up and running, it is sad to note that it is becoming increasingly difficult to replenish current stock of diesel due to the lingering scarcity of the products.

We are also concerned that, if the situation persists, it may have adverse effects on our network, impacting both voice and data services.

Airtel, therefore wishes to assure all customers that we will continue working with all our partners and stakeholders to mitigate any negative impact as we remain committed to our promise of providing exceptional services just as we seek the cooperation and understanding of all whilst apologizing for any inconvenience at this time.

The Messiah? Ifeanyi Ubah’s Capital Oil To Make Available 13 Million Litres Of Fuel

Featured Image

Amidst one of the worst fuel scarcities to hit Nigeria in almost 2 decades, the CEO of Capital Oil, Ifeanyi Ubah has come to the aid of the people.

Ubah announced in a statement that his company would begin shipment of 13 million litres of fuel before dawn, to help curb the scarcity which has seen fuel sold on the black market for as high as N1000/litre.

Read Ubah’s full statement below.

On Saturday 16th May 2015, we received an SMS ordering the suspension of loading activities in all depots from Monday 18th May 2015. We later realized that this directive was as a result of unpaid funds owed to transporters by oil marketers who in turn are owed by the Federal Government. This development has resulted in immense hardship to our fellow country men and women. We believe that a better solution can be pursued towards solving this problem in a way that does not adversely affect our dear citizens.

Capital Oil and Gas has watched with so much pain, the suffering and hardship our citizens have been subjected to as a result of scarcity of petrol, diesel, aviation fuel and house hold kerosene. We are deeply pained to hear that hospitals cannot perform surgeries, laboratories are unable to carry out much needed tests especially for emergency patients leaving such patients at risk of dying, radio stations are shutting down, communication is being affected as MTN and other telecommunications company have announced an impending shut down while homes, offices and key facilities nationwide are experiencing blackouts. In some parts of the country, petrol is already selling at an all-time high of N1,000 per litre. Our citizens have left their homes and are now sleeping in fuel stations, facing the risk of robbery attacks and other attendant risk.

In a few days’ time, a new government headed by General Muhamadu Buhari will be sworn in. Apart from our citizens being unable to watch the handover on television and unavailability of transportation for attendees of this historic handover, the resulting chaos from this scarcity may shutdown the Nation and sabotage the efforts Nigeria has made to attain greater heights.

We are constrained at this point and have decided that two wrongs cannot make a right. We will not be part of this sabotage against our fatherland. Therefore from this minute, we shall take the risk of opening our facilities and commence swift loading and distribution of products Nationwide.

Our facility has the capacity to load over 13 million litres of product before dawn. This comes to approximately 400 trucks of petroleum products. With this act, it is our belief that once again our citizens will begin to smile, return to normal family and work life. We call on other petroleum marketers to follow suit and save our Nation from this impending economic and social crisis. This is a period that requires patriotism and service to fatherland. Let’s join hands to help our fellow citizens and save Nigeria. We also call on striking bodies to call off the strike action. Let us work together for the betterment of our people.

As we brief you this moment, our truck park, port reception facilities and our depot complex have been ordered opened. We are ordering and resuming discharge of products from vessels at our berths. We have ordered our trucks to commence loading of products and move overnight to every state of the Federation.

Most importantly, we wish to use this medium to thank NNPC and PPMC for their steadfastness in ensuring the availability of petroleum products. Current PPMC stock level in our storage tanks and buffer stock on vessels awaiting discharge at our jetty is capable of meeting the Nation’s need for 15 days.

Furthermore, we wish to emphasis that we have a total solution to the traffic menace on the oshodi apapaexpressway. In the coming weeks, we hope to engage the Federal Government (Federal Ministry of Transport), Lagos State Government and other stakeholders in the affected area, to optimally utilize our truck park facilities which has the capacity to accommodate over 1,100 trucks per time and 5,000 on a shift basis.
Capital Oil and Gas continues to appeal to Nigerians to accept and support deregulation as this will curb corruption, enhance competition, lead to reduction of pump price for petroleum products and ensure constant supply to meet Nigeria’s demand.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah
Managing Director/CEO
Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited

The Champions Of The 2014/15 Season

Featured Image

It is time you know, time to say goodbye to a beautiful thing. What’s wonderful about this good thing, is that in a few months it will be back again.

Have you said your goodbyes to the beautiful style of play of the La Liga, to the show of strength of the Serie A, to the ever consistent Bundesliga, to the attractive Ligue 1 and to the ever dramatic and competitive Premier League?

Even though the playing is done, there is always the transfer window which is full of tension and drama, not the same dose of drama, but just enough to last long enough.

Now a season can’t end without its champions, so I give you the champions of the 2014-15 season.

English Premier League

Chelsea started the season on a high and finished on that same note, sealing the trophy with just three matches to go. Mourinho’s men finished the league with 87 points. Let’s see if they’ll replicate this performance next season.

Then there is Bayern Munich, they’ve stamped their dominance in German football already. Claiming the title for the third time in a row, now that’s something. Winning the league in late April, they ended the season with 79 points.

Italian Serie A

The Italian Serie A is so competitive and the show of strength is just what every team is all about. Juventus are champions and they did that with 86 points.

The Ligue 1

PSG has always bossed this league and it is no surprise they won this league again. They did it with 83 points.

I actually wanted Real Madrid to win this, but it is football and so unpredictable. Barcelona won this league with 94 points which is higher than every other team in the top flight garnered.

Longer Legs? Yes Please. 6 Ways To Make Your Legs Look Longer

Featured Image

Every female at some point in her life has dreamt of becoming a Victoria’s Secrets Model, or at  least model. Models come in various shapes and sizes but one thing they all have in common are long beautiful legs.

Here are 6 tricks to make your legs look longer than they are. Enjoy!

1)Wear High Waisted Skirts/Trousers/Shorts as often as possible: I think this is the one trick everyone is familiar with, wearing high waisted clothes definitely give the illusion that your leg is a few inches longer than the original length.

2)Wear shoes that match your skin tone: This might be hard as most shoe designers hardly ever consider dark skinned girls when making shoes, a way around it is to find pop socks that match the shoe colour and you are ready to be a Victoria Secrets model.

3)Heels definitely help: Wearing heeled shoes might be uncomfortable, but they most certainly help your legs look longer. You can hold a pair of flats for the office and throw on your heels for lunch with your friends.

4)Tuck in as often as possible: Unknown too many people, long tops make you look shorter. Try as often as possible to wear tops that end on your waist and if you have to wear a long top, tuck it in girl!

5)Keep your clothes a few inches above your knees: You do not have to wear a super mini skirt for you to create an illusion around your legs, by simply keeping the dress or skirt one or two inches above your knees you  will create the same illusion.

6)Combine all steps above: This is not a must, but if you can totally work all five rules at once, then go ahead.
