Nigerian-born reporter, Adeola Fayehun has been hailed as part of a new generation of African journalists holding leaders to account, following her tongue-lashing questions for Zimbabwe’s president, Robert Mugabe during the inauguration ceremony of Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari’s on 29 May.
The Sahara Reporters journalist ambush of ageing Zimbabwean president has catapulted the queen of Nigerian satire, already a star in many countries in Africa, into the international spotlight.
The video clip of Fayehun and her colleague Omoyele Sowore questioning Mugabe as he makes his way during President Buhari swearing-in has so far received more than 270,000 views on YouTube.
Sowore initially disarms Mugabe by asking: “Mr Mugabe, how are you?”
Smiling uncomfortably, he replies: “I am well, thanks”.
“Well, you know they also want elections in your country, when is it happening next in your country?” Sowore asks.
“In my country? Well, we had our elections…” He tapers off as an aide comes to his rescue.
After Buhari’s speech, as Mugabe made his way back to the car, Fayehun delivers the next barrage of questions.
“Mr President, don’t you think it is time to step down?” “Is there a time limit?” “How’s your health?’ “When will there be change in Zimbabwe?” “Is there democracy in Zimbabwe?”
She ends the clip looking for her next victim, asking: “Is [South African president] Jacob Zuma here?”
After the incident, The Telegraph’s chief political correspondent Colin Freeman wrote: “compared the BBC’s John Simpson or CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, Adeola Fayehun from Nigeria is not exactly a global name in the world of television reporting. This week, though, she made broadcasting history as she did something that few African reporters have ever dared do: ask one of their ageing dictators when the hell he is going to quit.”

Chris Brown tried to hook up with Karrueche last night and the result was disastrous. According to TMZ, Chris was BANGING on KT’s front door after she kicked him out of her SUV.
We’re told the drama started INSIDE Playhouse nightclub … when Chris got the V.I.P. table next to the one Karrueche was at. We’re told KT was PISSED and left the club … and Brown followed … eventually weaseling his way into her SUV. Our sources connected to Karrueche say KT did NOT want him inside — and dropped him off with his friends a short time later.
Which is why she was even more upset when he showed up on her doorstep around 3:30 AM — banging and yelling, clearly trying to get KT to open up. Our sources say one of Karrueche’s neighbors called cops because of the noise Chris was making at her door .Tran ultimately left her home — and went to the famous Norm’s Diner. Brown showed up a short time later. Once inside, we’re told they began to argue and it escalated into a full-blown shouting match. Eventually, Karrueche left the restaurant and returned home — without Chris. Bottom line — don’t expect a reconciliation any time soon.

“They came to the family house around 10am. They shot into the air. They didn’t meet anybody in the house. So, they took some valuables and set them on fire.
“They went to Yellow’s wife’s shop and brought out all the goods there. They damaged them and went to the house and set their household furniture and property on fire.”
