The Spanish side was 41-year Neville’s first job and a manager, and previous coaching experience with the England national team didn’t seem to help him.

Crespo: I’m Glad Neville Is A Flop At Valencia

Neville won only 10 of 28 games as manager of Valencia, including a paltry 3 wins in 16 La Liga games. The results had “not been to my standards” or those “required by this club” according to the former England international, and though he wished to stay, he knew the writing was on the wall.

Neville’s last game in charge was a home loss against Celta Vigo, and his assistant manager Pako Ayesteran will manage the club until the end of the season.

#Hairspiration: Tinashe Is Our Mane Muse (Fringe, Blonde & Ponytail Styles)

Featured Image features singer, songwriter & dancer, Tinashe as its latest Mane Muse and she is giving us major ‘hairspiration’.

Tinashe Jorgenson Kachingwe who is of Zimbabwean, Danish, Norwegian, and Irish descent is a girl with naturally curly hair who has a signature style and likes to keep her hair style simple “long with a middle part…” she says in her interview with the mane addicts. As a dancer, her hair frizzles too quickly which has deterred the singer from wearing hairstyles which are too high maintenance.

As the’s latest Mane Muse, mane expert Larry Sims decided to change up her hair creating three amazingly different hairstyles from Tinashe’s typical hairstyle – a super sexy high ponytail, blunt bangs(fringe) and a blonde bob.

We must say we love all three looks and can’t wait to try them ourselves.  Check out mane looks below.

First Look: FAUX BANGS – “We did a really amazing, super bone-straight Chinese bang with long extensions,” explains Larry. We love the mix of brown and black with the brown peeking through as highlights.

Second Look: BLONDE – “To switch from the bang look, I took her natural hair, wrapped it around her head and secured with a wig cap,” says Larry. Of the look, Tinashe said  “it was such a different look than I have ever done in the past,” she says. “I have never worn short hair before, nor have I worn a wig, so it was pretty fun.” Our thoughts, she looks amazing and particularly love how it frames her face!

Third Look: 32INCH MILE-LONG, HIGH PONYTAIL – “I took a super long, I think it was a 32-inch hair extension, and wrapped it around human hair extensions and wrapped it around the base of Tinashe’s natural ponytail…”says Larry. Our thoughts, the sexiest look of all.

Police Shut Down Kogi Assembly Complex Over Crises

Featured Image

Officers of the Kogi State Police Command have on Wednesday morning besieged and sealed the State House of Assembly complex on the order of the National Assembly following the lingering leadership tussle that has bedeviled the house in the last three months.

The development which took the workers of the state assembly by surprise follows the failure of the Assembly to resolve its crisis and the order by the senate that the House be sealed.

Speaking on the seal-off, Mr Aliyu Akuh, deputy to the embattled speaker Momoh-Jimoh Lawal said the crisis remained unresolved as earlier directive to return to status quo ante by the House of Representatives was ignored by the five members.

“What happened with five members seeking to impeach a speaker in a house of 20 members is an aberration, unheard of and more so that some members’ names and signatures were forged and included as being part of them.

“We had to go to the higher authority which is the National Assembly vested with the constitutional powers to intervene in such situations. The House of Representatives ordered the seal-off and it was concurred by the Senate,” he said.

On its part, factional speaker, Alhaji Umar Imam described the seal-off as illegal saying that for the National Assembly to have gone ahead to seal-off the assembly in spite of the fact that the matter was pending in court was tantamount to illegality.

It was gathered that the road leading to the complex was barricaded by armed policemen who subjected staff of the assembly to scrutiny and only allowed them entry upon confirmation they that they were staff.

Islamic Military Coalition: Nigeria’s Dangerous Liaison – Chris Ngwodo

Featured Image

The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of

Recently, President Muhammadu Buhari announced his administration’s decision to join the Islamic Military Alliance against Terrorism formed and led by Saudi Arabia. The 34-member coalition had been unveiled by the desert kingdom in December 2015 with the stated aim of combating terrorism all over the Islamic world. Buhari’s decision to accede to the Saudi invitation has been criticised in Nigeria where Christian activists are sensitive to international affiliations that obscure Nigeria’s secular or multi-religious character or which project her as having an Islamic national identity.

However, beyond nomenclature, a more cogent critique would question the geostrategic utility of aligning with Saudi Arabia. To begin with, the objectives of the alliance are ambiguous even to its purported members. Pakistan, Lebanon and Indonesia seemed to express surprise at their inclusion which they apparently learnt of through media reports. Some members have said they will seek clarification on the exact nature of the coalition and its operational scope. When asked if the initiative could include deploying troops to conflict spots, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said, “Nothing is off the table.” It is not clear that the Nigerian government is sufficiently aware of the terms and conditions of her engagement in this initiative. There is ample reason to proceed with extreme caution.

Saudi credentials for leading an international war on terror are decidedly dubious. The desert kingdom is the world’s biggest purveyor of extremist ideology. Following her enrichment by the 1973 oil boom, Saudi Arabia spent billions of dollars building mosques and forming Islamic associations all over the world. The Saudi ministry for religious affairs distributed millions of Qurans in Europe, Asia and Africa, along with doctrinal texts written from the extreme perspective of Wahhabism – a violently ultraconservative theology of medieval austerity conceived in 18th century Arabia and based on a harshly legalistic and literalist interpretation of Islam (known as Salafism in Saudi Arabia) which is the foundational ideology of the modern Saudi state.

Nigeria was impacted by this Wahhabi missionary campaign and it fanned a revival of fundamentalist fervour most notably in the form of Jama’at Izalat Al Bidi’ A wa Iqamat Al Sunna (JIBWIS) otherwise known as Izala but also in an amorphous movement of madrassahs and groups across Northern Nigeria. It was also in the late 1970s that the Nigerian government began funding pilgrimages to Mecca (and subsequently to Jerusalem), sponsoring a record one hundred thousand pilgrims to the Hajj in 1981. This reflected both an official cluelessness as to what to do with her oil wealth and the gravitation towards the Saudi orbit.

Saudi missionary exports have been so successful that more tolerant and pluralistic versions of Islam have been supplanted to the extent that Wahhabism is now deemed synonymous with Sunni Islam in many places. Much of the contemporary jihadist terror groups are directly or indirectly influenced by Saudi sponsors. Al Qaeda, Islamic State (ISIS or ISIL) and Boko Haram (otherwise known as Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP) are all ideological progeny of Saudi missionary foreign policy, guided by murderous ideas with their roots in Wahhabism.

The international propagation of Wahhabism is part of a Faustian bargain between the House of Saud and the religious establishment. By exporting its home-grown radical discontent abroad, the Saudi elite prevent their extremist clerics from turning their fury against a ruling family that is seen as apostate and decadent. As the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II once remarked, “Muslims who are unduly influenced by the puritanical ideology of Wahhabism are…a major source of instability in plural societies. The equilibrium established among adherents of various faiths through the agency of a common citizenship based on respect for each group and equality of individuals is undermined by the call to a superior and exclusive religious identity that rejects common citizenship.” This makes Wahhabist ideology an existential threat to the Nigerian state.

It is more likely that this global military alliance is part of the Saudi strategy to counter and contain the resurgence of Iran – which is pointedly excluded from the coalition. Saudi-Persian rivalry is coterminous with the Sunni-Shia struggle to shape Middle Eastern politics and global Islam at large. This contest for primacy between Saudi Arabia and Iran, rooted in a succession struggle, theological dispute and civil war that occurred in the early days of the Islamic community, is the most toxic fault line in the Middle East and has fueled proxy conflicts in Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen and Syria. With the lifting of nuclear sanctions against Iran, the Islamic republic is poised to resume pursuit of its longstanding goal of becoming the preeminent power in the Middle East.

Like Saudi Arabia, Iran has impacted Nigerian society. The 1979 Islamic revolution radicalised many young Nigerian Muslims and led to the formation of the Shiite Islamic Movement of Nigeria headquartered in Zaria. Ironically, some of the newly minted Shiites were erstwhile Izala members who had been radicalised by visits to Iran and returned home with revolutionary zeal. They derided the Izala as too soft and sometimes attacked official mosques. Throughout the 1980s and the 1990s, the Izala and the Shia embodied the broad currents of radical Islamic militancy in Nigeria.

Clearly, Saudi Arabia and Iran are two major radicalising (and potentially destabilising) influences in Nigeria. Nigeria, which has to manage tensions between her Sunni majority and Shia minority, must exercise extreme caution in her dealings with these two Middle Eastern power houses which are deeply vested in local anti-establishment movements. The recent clash between the Nigerian military and Shiites which resulted in the massacre of hundreds of Shiites elicited intense reactions in the Shia world and an official reaction from Iran. It was on the heels of that clash in December that the Saudis invited Nigeria to join the anti-terror coalition. Nigeria’s large Muslim population makes her an important prize in the Saudi-Persian struggle for primacy. Our posture should be one of strategic non-alignment, engaging with Riyadh and Tehran on the basis of a reasoned calculus of our national interests, which it must be stressed, are not coterminous with Saudi or Iranian interests.

There is a broader geostrategic imperative that the Nigerian foreign policy establishment should be cognisant of. Most of what the international media portrays as the “Muslim world” is actually the Middle East which accounts for just one-fifth of the world’s Muslim population. Some of the countries with the largest Muslim populations such as Malaysia, India, Indonesia and Nigeria are outside the Middle East. Significantly, these non-Middle Eastern countries with huge Muslim populations are typically secular or, at the very least, sustain a constitutional recognition of pluralism. In these countries, the degree and definition of secularism is the subject of debate. Indeed, while secularism is one of those concepts that appear to mean different things in different places, none of its diverse manifestations accommodates the wedlock of religion and the state found in Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Given her large Muslim population, Nigeria can offer an alternative perspective on the global discourse on Islam’s compatibility with democracy and pluralism. She can serve as a laboratory for the sort of sociopolitical experiment direly required but stridently forbidden by repressive regimes in the Middle East. Nigeria can be a model of ecumenical coexistence, civic mutuality and social democracy. This requires us to chart a course away from Levantine strife, Saudi religious tyranny and Persian theocratic totalitarianism.

At this point, the lines between foreign policy architecture and domestic nation-building must blur. We must wrestle with Northern Nigeria’s peculiar vulnerability to Middle Eastern extremist currents – a debility to which Southern Nigerian Muslims seem immune. The root cause of this plague in Northern Nigeria is Arabophilia – a racist inferiority complex which idealises Arabian culture as the sole authentic repository of Islamic values and posits Arabs as the highest manifestation of Muslim piety. This perspective renders Northern Nigeria extremely susceptible to subversive influences from the Arab world. Nigeria must tackle the crisis of governance that enables these influences to thrive.

For ideological, historical and strategic reasons, Nigeria should not allow herself to be conscripted into the Saudi sphere of influence. Nigeria’s national security interests are best served by a measured, rather than an uncritical engagement with the Saudis. A definite priority should be strengthening cooperation with regional neighbours to adequately police the chaotic ungoverned spaces in the Sahel and the Maghreb. A more robust (and perhaps less servile) relationship with the Saudis would necessitate a close interrogation of the financial and moral support flowing from the Gulf States to anti-establishment actors in Nigeria. It is doubtful that tackling these channels of support for extremism is part of the Saudi-led alliance’s mandate. The National Assembly, which is constitutionally tasked to ratify international agreements, should scrutinise the particulars of this alliance and spare Nigeria possible geostrategic embarrassment.

Sissoko: Newcastle Will Survive Relegation

Featured Image

Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko believes it possible for the magpies to survive relegation, citing the match against Norwich as a final.

Newcastle are 19th on the log with 8 games left, but a victory against the canaries will do them a lot of good.

More so, the Tyneside club also have a game in hand over Norwich, with Sissoko calling for Newcastle to improve their performance levels after five top-flight matches without a win.

“We are a really good team. We need to show it on the pitch, so we have a massive game against Norwich away,” Sissoko told Sky Sports News.

“It’s a final for us, so we will go there and give it everything and hopefully come back with three points.

“We all know [Benitez] is a good manager. He has a lot of experience with a lot of teams.

“He came here to help us stay in the Premier League and I am confident we will do it and we will start on Saturday.”

Many States In Nigeria Seek To Adopt The ‘Religious Bill’ – El-Rufai

Featured Image

Several attempts by critics and agitators to quash the controversial ‘Religious Bill’ proposed by Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State may have hit a huge brick wall as the Governor has confirmed that many state governments are willing to embrace the contents of the Bill as they have requested for a copy to replicate in their states.

Speaking with reporters at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna, on Tuesday, the governor averred that the proposed law was sent to the state House of Assembly since October 15, 2015 and was not a new bill as being speculated.

He said: “It was first enacted in 1984 during the term of Air Vice Marshal Usman Mua’zu (rtd) after the Maitsine uprising in 1982. The then military junta saw the need to regulate preaching in some states in the North.

“Many states are ready to do similar thing now. They have asked for the copy of our bill. I will not name the states.”

The governor also reacted to an allegation that made headlines on National dailies and social media that he walked out of a meeting with the vice-president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, when the VP tried to reach an understanding with him on a particular issue, stressing that the speculation was the handwork of his political detractors.

He said: “I have never attended a meeting where the President and the Vice-President were all in the same room.

“I think the only time where the President and the Vice-president were around and I was in attendance was when the National Economic Council, NEC, was inaugurated by Mr President. He (President) came and delivered his address and left.”

Also, the governor cleared the rumour that he exchanged blows with his deputy, Bala Bandex, saying he had known the deputy governor since 1976 and had never argued with him.

“We think alike and act alike. We are going on weII. I think I did not make him like a spare tyre. If  I am leaving the state, I write to the state assembly that he will be acting. He chairs the executive council meetings as well as the security council meeting. I was told this has never happened in Kaduna before and some people are not comfortable with that,” he said.

Kane: There’s Still A Lot Of Work To Be Done

Featured Image

England striker Harry Kane feels there is still a lot of work to be done before the Euro 2016.

The three lions were recipients of high praise after staging a successful comeback in the 3-2 win over Germany, only for that to come undone as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat against Netherlands.

And Kane, who has 21 domestic league goals this season, admits their young national squad needs to improve.

“Like we said after the Germany game, we’ve still got a lot to work on, we’ve still got a lot to do,” he told Sky Sports.

“We’re a young side, learning, and that’s all we can do.

“Obviously it’s disappointing, we always want to win games of course, but we haven’t done.

“So now we go back to our club form and then get ready for the friendlies before the Euros.”

In comparison to England’s victory in Berlin, Kane feels England had underperformed at Wembley against Netherlands.

“It was a disappointing result,” he added. “I don’t think we probably played as well as we did the other night. That’s football.

“I think the decisions could have gone either way from where I was sitting, but sometimes you have to deal with that in European football.

“Sometimes you get them, sometimes you don’t. We have to get on with it and move on quickly.”

Buhari Withholds Assent To 2016 Budget, Seeks Full Details From NASS

Featured Image

There are strong indications of uncertainty and dissent over the 2016 Budget estimates approved by the National Assembly last Thursday as President Muhammadu Buhari may not be signing the Appropriation Bill into law any time soon following the senate’s refusal to send details of the budget to his office.

READ ALSO: Senate Passes 2016 Budget | Reduces N6.077trn To N6.060trn

Consequently, the refusal of the president to sign the appropriation bill will further delay the implementation of a budget the government hopes will deliver Nigeria out of its present economic crisis.

A senior official to the presidency on Tuesday said Buhari could not sign the budget because the senate sent only highlights of the budget and then kept the details in their custody.

According to the source, the president who had been anxious to give assent to the Bill and commence implementation became reluctant as he was concerned that signing the budget without details may give approval to an un-implementable spending plan.

“The president has not been able to sign the Bill into law because he does not know what is contained in the details and what adjustments the National Assembly made to the proposal sent to them last December,” the official said.

The source, who yearned for anonymity, said the delay in transmitting the details could mean that the National Assembly either did not complete work on the budget, or were “playing politics” with the passage of the document.

READ ALSO: Again, Senate Adjourns Passage Of 2016 Budget

The source also said the president was disappointed that his desire to see the immediate implementation of the provisions to ease the tension in the economy and polity would have to tarry a little longer till when the details were transmitted to him and the adjustments are found to be implementable.

The harmonised N6.06 trillion budget was finally passed by both chambers of the National Assembly last Wednesday after weeks of bickering over controversial allocations in the N6.08 trillion proposal submitted by Mr. Buhari on December 22, 2015.

Reacting to this, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, said the bill was at the moment going through a process.

He said: “There is nothing like the President refusing assent to the Appropriation Bill. We worked closely with the executive in passing the bill. We are aware it is going through the normal process before the President assents.

“If anybody tells you that the President refuses to assent, let the person tell you the reason. The Appropriation Bill is already with the Executive with full details.”

Lallana: Netherlands Punished England For Slacking

Featured Image

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana feels England were punished by the Netherlands, as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at Wembley.

Lallana also featured in the comeback victory against Germany, and now the loss to the Oranje.

England were 1-0 up and looked set for victory, only for Netherlands to pull off a comeback after the break and the Liverpool attacker feels his national team-mates must work on their consistency if they are to achieve any kind of success at Euro 2016.

“If you take your foot off the pedal then you can lose like we did against the Dutch tonight,” Lallana explained.

“We were flying high at the weekend so it’s disappointing tonight. I think it shows the level of consistency we need to show moving into the tournament.

“We can be successful we just need to be a bit more consistent. We have proved the level we can reach at the weekend against the world champions.”

Suarez: Uruguay Will Fight For Qualification

Featured Image

Uruguay forward Luis Suarez believes many more tough matches are still to come for the country, despite going top of the CONMEBOL world cup qualification group.

Uruguay went top of the table after Cavani scored the lone goal in the 1-0 victory over Peru.

The win meant Uruguay moved to the summit of the 10-team group after six games, but Suarez is wary that there are many more tough matches to come.

“We are conscious that in the qualifiers there are no favourites, that every single game is complicated,” the Barcelona forward told reporters in Montevideo.

“We learn that no opponent is as easy as people speculate before the game. It always happens when people label us favourites, it costs us more [to win].

“This is a demonstration that Uruguay will be suffering until the qualifying is over.”

Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez, meanwhile, is also refusing to take their strong position for granted, warning the job is not yet complete.

He said: “To be first is worth something, but it just becomes an anecdote. In the qualifiers there are no titles, and rarely anyone remembers who finished first or in what order the teams finished.

“It’s just about qualifying. When you win you are happy, because you work for that, but it gives us no security for what comes next.”

Messi Happy To Score 50th International Goal

Lionel Messi is happy to have scored his 50th goal for Argentina, in the 2-0 win over Bolivia.

The Barcelona superstar was keen to praise the team’s collective effort, with Mercardo netting the opener in the match.

And Messi who is six goals behind all time goalscorer Batistuta, is focused on the team.

“This [campaign] is very long and what’s important is that we won and remain on course,” Messi told TyC Sports.

“I’m happy with goal number 50 but more because we won and this helps to keep growing.”

Having helped Argentina to six points over the international break, Messi is now focused on Barcelona’s challenge for honours and particularly Saturday’s mouth-watering Clasico against Real Madrid.

He added: “I had no physical problems and now is time to return to Barcelona to think about the Clasico, which will be a very demanding test.”

Barcelona are nine points clear at the top of La Liga with only eight matches of the season remaining, with Real Madrid currently third in the table behind city rivals Atletico Madrid.

France international N’golo Kante has casted a major doubt on his future at Leicester City.

The Leicester midfielder has helped the foxes to a surprise EPL title chase.

And Kante, who made his international debut against Netherlands, scored in the 4-2 win over Russia.

“I will fight for Leicester this season and next season we never know and we will see,” he said to Sky Sports.

“At this moment I am focused on Leicester. We have to finish well this season but I don’t mind about [being linked with] the other clubs.

“We will fight for the title but it is not [our] due. We have to fight in every game. There are seven games left. We hope to win the league, but it’s not finished.”

Kante was thrilled with his first experiences of international football over his opening two games.

He told reporters: “It [the goal] was a good present for my birthday. [It was my] first time in the starting line-up and first goal. It was a good win and we are happy

“I’m happy with how this meeting went. I discovered the France team. The meeting and training went well, there was this first goal and these two victories. It went very well for me.

“The Euros are something else. There is still time to think about that, but everything went well.”

The new star said she “had no idea her sister Kelsi Leggett (on Beyonce’s left) posted the pic on Instagram”.

Kelsi assertedly stated she had to block her sister Kristin from viewing the pic on Instagram at first because she (Kelsi) knew Kristin didn’t like it.

Kristin shared the photo later which moved her from a shadow of less than 5K followers to over 100K and counting.

The sexy momma also said she has “rappers calling on her” for video shoots already.

They definitely want some Bey magic; even if it’s from just a “lucky big-butt” fan.

  • laskoaa – booking info oh Lord
  • musicmaniac86 – I don’t remember seeing it up there before either. But hey let her ride the 15 minutes of fame lol. She’s a pretty woman but like most things she will probably be forgotten within a few months.
