She said: “A lot of times they said that they wanted to help me but actually they wanted me to do ‘something’ with them. Luckily I had a crazy boyfriend who ended up being my husband. He just shot them down.

“If you are really talented and good at what you do and you have God behind you, don’t give in to that kind of temptation. I guarantee you that your talent will make a way for you. The same people will be the ones calling and you will even get more than you ever imagined if you don’t give in.”

The Murder Of The Fulani: Yugoslavia Unfolding? – Fani-Kayode

Featured Image

The Department of State Services (DSS) have claimed that five Fulani herdsmen were abducted, killed and buried in a mass grave by members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in Abia state a few days ago. They have also claimed that there were up to fifty more bodies in that mass grave, and that they are all Fulani.

The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

The implications of this announcement is obvious. It will create more tension and fear in the land and lead to reprisal killings in the North. Violence is never the way out and I have always believed that it has no place in any civilised society. Yet, what I find curious about this announcement is the fact that it is unique and historic.

I say this because thousands of Igbos, Yorubas, Niger-Deltans and Middle Belters have been killed by Fulani militants and herdsmen over the last ten months since President Buhari came to power, yet the DSS has never announced it and told the country about the details and ethnic identities of the victims.

When one thousand Shiite Muslims were slaughtered in Zaria and buried in mass graves, the DSS did not speak. When five hundred Idomas were massacred in Agatu by Fulani militants, the DSS did not speak.

When hundreds of Southern and Middle Belt farms were raided by AK-47-wielding Fulani herdsmen who murdered, raped, burnt down and took over the land of their victims, the DSS never gave us details of the victims or made any announcement.

When our leaders in the South were kidnapped and when men witnessed their wives and children being raped and butchered by the Fulani militias before their very eyes, the DSS made no announcements.

When the International Terror Index told the world that the Fulani militias in Nigeria are the “fourth most deadly terror organisation in the world”, the DSS said nothing and neither did they give us details about their activities nor their victims.

Worse of all is the fact that our government and our President, who himself happens to be a Fulani, have never deemed it fit or necessary to condemn the activities of the Fulani herdsmen and militants, and neither have they expressed any sympathy or displayed any empathy for their many victims.

Let me be clear: the murder of anyone, regardless of their ethnicity or faith, is unacceptable to me. I deplore murder and violence, and in my view the killing of one innocent soul diminishes the humanity of every single one of us as a community and nation.

However, it seems curious that the minute Fulanis are killed in the East, the DSS is quick to rise to the occasion and express concern about it, whilst they do not express the same concern when Nigerians from other ethnic nationalities are killed by the Fulani in their own homes and land.

Therein lies the double standard and it is sad and unfortunate. Furthermore, not only is it very dangerous but it also confirms the view that our government and security agencies are not only partial but that they are also attempting to implement an ethnic and religious agenda.

Three questions must be answered: first, who is funding the Fulani herdsmen and where do they get their weapons from? Second, why does our government not only turn a blind eye to the mass murder and genocide that they regularly indulge in but also go out of their way to protect them?

And third, why do the government and security agencies have so much hatred and contempt for those that the Fulani regularly target and their victims, and why do they believe that those victims do not deserve to enjoy the full protection of the Nigerian Federal Government?

Could it be because they are regarded as slaves and second class citizens? Is Fulani blood and are Fulani lives more important than others? Indeed do non-Fulani lives matter in President Buhari’s Nigeria?

Are we compelled to begin a “non-Fulani lives matter” movement which is based and fashioned on the “Black Lives Matter” movement in the United States of America before we can draw the attention of the world to what is going on in our country?

Is it not obvious and logical that when the security agencies refuse to protect the citizens from the murderous hordes and herdsmen from hell, those citizens will eventually seek to protect themselves and go on the offensive? That is human nature and it is to be expected.

Is it not clear to those in power that when a people are convinced that their government is no longer impartial in any conflict and that the security agencies of that government have been directed to go out of their way to actively and openly support those that constantly and regularly slaughter their people it will eventually lead to open war?

Is it so difficult to accept the fact that no government and no force from hell or on earth can compel or intimidate a man into lying down passively and silently watching his family, loved ones and kinsmen being butchered and slaughtered morning, day and night without trying to protect them and without indulging in some form of retaliation?

With the sort of things that are going on in our country today, it is time to tell ourselves some home-truths. No-one wishes to accept it let alone say it but sadly war will come to Nigeria again within the next few years. I do not want war and I consider it to be the ultimate evil but I am constrained to speak the truth and say things as I see them.

The fact that a war is coming is a testimony to the fact that we have all failed to manage the peace that God has given us since 1970 and the cessation of hostilities after our brutal civil war. We have failed so badly that the remote and immediate causes of that civil war are back with us today, even though we hate to admit or acknowledge it.

Our country is like Yugoslavia unfolding before it exploded and violently broke into five separate countries. All the signs are there. Anyone that knows about the history of Yugoslavia or that is a student of world history will agree with me and appreciate what I am saying.

Consider the dangerous mix. A crumbling economy. An inept, weak, failing and paranoid government. A hungry, angry and increasingly desperate civilian population. An ignorant, obsessive, arrogant, insensitive, corrupt and self-absorbed political class who are out of touch with reality.

The ruthless implementation of an ethnic and religious agenda by a reckless and irresponsible government that refuses to consider the implications of taking such a course of action and that have an early-1960’s mind-set. The growing unrest, ethnic killings and sectarian murders.

An ethnic and religious division within the Armed Forces and security agencies. A relentless clamp-down on and persecution of the opposition and all dissenting voices by the government and the use of fear as a tool of governance and control.

The entering into a secret and covert treaty and military alliance with a group of Arab Sunni Muslim countries that seek to Islamise our country, that have, over the years, funded the most brutal and barbaric jihadist and radical Islamist terrorist organisations all over the world and that seek to impugn our national integrity and violate the secularity of our state.

The constant and open abuse of power. The impunity and insensitivity of the Buhari administration to the plight of the masses. The hunger, hardship, poverty and suffering in the land. The failure of the government to get rid of the fuel queues and supply electrical power.

The demonisation of peaceful and law-abiding self-determination groups and the unlawful incarceration of their leaders. The breach of the constitutional rights of the citizens and the ignoring of court orders and judicial processes by the government.

The attempt to intimidate and control the judiciary and legislature by the executive, and so much more. The list goes on and on and history proves that such a mixture of circumstances is dangerous and can only lead to open conflict if not halted.

The country is badly divided today and the people are suffering as never before. The division and hatred amongst some of our ethnic groups have reached pre-civil war levels.

We must do our best to ensure that that division and hatred does not spill over into open war. This is because war is a terrible thing which must be avoided at all costs.

If anyone doubts that, they should consider the plight of the Bosnians of Bosnia-Herzogovina during the Yugoslavian civil war that took place in the European Balkans in the late 1980s right up until 1992.

They were the only ethnic group in Yugoslavia that was not prepared for it when the war started. They had no arms, no plan, no allies and no fall back position.

When the fighting started they were caught unawares and for two years they suffered immeasurably for their stupidity and naivety whilst their people were killed like flies and their women and children were raped and enslaved. God forbid this should happen to any ethnic group or ANY of our people in Nigeria

The reason that they suffered for two years was because there was an international arms embargo placed on all the ethnic groups and warring militias and armies in Yugoslavia when the war started. And sadly the Bosnians were the only ones that did not buy and stockpile arms in preparation for war months and years before it actually broke out.

Plagued by a cowardly and weak-minded ruling elite and a naive, self-serving, servile, ignorant and intellectually-challenged middle class the Bosnians just kept talking, writing newspaper articles, appeasing the aggressors and their tormentors, praying and hoping for peace whilst all the other ethnic and religious groups and warring parties were quietly preparing for war.

They suffered immensely for their lack of understanding, insight and foresight and their civilian population paid a heavy price for this. For two years after the civil war started the Bosnians could not even buy a gun or bullet to defend themselves. Their towns were besieged and blown up whilst their women and children were raped, enslaved and butchered.

Their men were rounded up into Second World War-like Nazi concentration camps and starved and tortured to death and their dignity and self-respect was taken from them. They were turned into an internally-displaced people and their land was transformed into a sea of desperate and suffering refugees.

It was a nightmare from hell and suffering on this scale had not been seen on European soil since the First and Second World Wars. It was after the international community silently watched them being slaughtered by their Serbian and Croatian compatriots for two long years that they were compelled, as a consequence of pressure from the people of the world and on moral and humanitarian grounds, to lift the arms embargo on them so that they could buy arms to defend themselves.

The war dragged on for more years after that but at least the Bosnians, though two years late, were now able to fight back and defend themselves. It took the intervention of NATO, the bombing of Belgrade by the international community led by the Americans and the eventual break-up of the entire country into five pieces to stop the carnage and barbarity of the Serbs and eventually bring the civil war to an end.

It was during that war that the term “ethnic cleansing” was first used by CNN to describe what was being done by the Serbs to the Bosnians, the Croats, the Slovenians, the Kosovars, the Macedonians and the Monte Negrans, all of whom represented the other ethnic groups that made up the old Yugoslavia.

Eventually the country broke up and each of them got their independence from the dominant Serbs and from one another.

If such a thing could have happened in the heart of Europe in the early 1990’s why on earth would any reasonably intelligent person dismiss the notion that it can happen here? The only difference would be that if such a thing were to ever unfold in our country it would be far worse than what happened in Yugoslavia due to the sheer size of our population. We must do all we can to avoid this. We must reach out to one another in love and understanding in this country in an attempt to prevent war and secure the peace.

Yet, sadly the signs of a future conflict are already there. I pray that I am wrong but as far as I am concerned, for Nigeria, the bell is tolling. May the Lord deliver us.

Arms Deal: Metuh Surrenders As Court Rejects Move To Postpone Trial

Featured Image

The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, has eventually bowed to the superior directive of the Federal High Court, Abuja after a long legal battle between both of them as he has now commenced his defence at the court.

The spokesperson of the PDP is facing a seven-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of N400m he allegedly received from the diverted $2.1 billion meant for the purchase of arms by the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

The trial judge, Justice Okon Abang had on April 8 held that Metuh must commence his defence on Monday after dismissing five applications preventing the commencement of the trial.

The embattled spokesman Metuh, however, refused to enter his defence after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Presented all its witnesses in the ongoing trial.

READ ALSO: EFCC Files 7-Count Charge Against Olisa Metuh

According to Metuh, one of the reasons for his refusal to enter his defence was that the trial judge, Justice Abang is being unfair in the handling of his matter, owing to the fact that they were classmates; they never got along.

Metuh’s push to have his trial transferred to another court, however, suffered a setback as Justice Abang ruled that he would not disqualify himself from the case.

READ ALSO: Arms Deal: Olisa Metuh Wants Jonathan As Witness

The Justice also ordered Metuh to open his defence today unfailing after the matter had enjoyed five adjournments.

One of the applications dismissed on Friday was the one presented by Tochukwu Onwubufo, a new counsel to the second defendant, Destra Investment, who asked the court to give him time to go through court proceedings, since he was a new party to the matter.

In his ruling, Mr. Abang refused the application on the ground that the counsel was wrong in applying for an adjournment through a written letter when he himself would be present in court.

“Once a counsel appears in person he can no longer send a letter to the court, he can make the application orally,” Abang said.

The Judge however ruled that the application for time will be considered at the end of Monday’s sitting.

I’m Committed To Jonathan’s Contracts With China – Buhari

Featured Image

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed that his administration remains committed to contracts signed by his predecessor Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with Chinese firms on railway, roads and hydroelectric dam projects, adding that the country cannot afford to lose the enormous potential in China-Nigeria economic and trade cooperation.

READ ALSO: Buhari To Sign $2bn Loan Deal With China

Speaking exclusive to Xinhua News Agency in China ahead of his 5-day state visit to the Asian country starting from Monday, the president said:

“China has the technical and financial capacity and the experience of development while retaining the goodwill to help Nigeria. So, really, this is an opportunity Nigeria cannot afford to lose,” Buhari said.

“In spite of being the largest economy in Africa, Nigeria is still badly in need of these projects, which China, as the world’s second-largest economy, has the capacity to undertake.”

Buhari also stated Nigeria’s readiness to expand the development of industries, especially in manufacturing and textile industries and speed up infrastructure construction, which presents huge opportunities for both China and Nigeria.

He continued: “The opportunities that present themselves for us … are virtually limitless,” he said, adding that “the best way to tackle unemployment is to develop agriculture and the mining industry, which China has the capacity to help. Some Chinese enterprises have already been involved in the mining industry in Nigeria’s northern provinces”.

In a related development, the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, divulged that the reason behind President Buhari’s trip to China was to “borrow the cheapest money possible” to finance the 2016 budget deficit.

Speaking with Financial Times and Reuters, the Minister said the country was considering selling a Chinese panda bond to help finance a budget deficit of about $11bn.

Ibrahimovic: I Was Born Old And Will Die Young

Featured Image

Zlatan Ibrahimovic feels quite better ahead of his second leg against City, saying he feels quite young.

Ibrahimovic has a contract that is due to end at the end of the season.

Ibrahimovic has scored an astonishing 39 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions this term and is out of contract at the end of the campaign, with the Sweden captain believing he is at his peak ahead of potentially hitting the open market.

“I have never been better,” he told UEFA. “The way I feel today is the best I have ever been. I was born old and I will die young. That is how it looks.

“I appreciate it [the special moments] because I think everything is in your head. It’s a mental thing.

“You are as young and fresh as you think you are and that is what I have proved this season, by doing the things I am doing. So the age is just a number.

“Your head decides how young you are and how old you are. So this year I decided I am very young.”

Court Grants EFCC Nod To Arraign Ex-Gov, Kalu, On May 16

Featured Image

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday has granted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the go ahead to arraign the former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu on May 16, for charges bordering on alleged diversion of cash to the tune of N5.6bn belonging to the state.

The decision of the judge in charge of the trial, Justice ‎Anwuli Chikere to allow the re-arraignment of the former governor came on the heels of the judgement reached by the Supreme Court, which on March 18, ‎held that the defendant has a criminal case to answer.

Kalu – his company, Slok Nigeria Limited – and Mr. Udeh Jones Udeogo, were first arraigned on July 27, 2007 by the country’s anti-graft agency on a 107-count charge of money laundering and diversion of public funds, while he was governor of Abia State between 1999 and 2007.

Kalu’s trial, it was gathered, was stalled for over eight years due to his consistent challenging of the criminal charges leveled against him at various courts.

The lawyer of the anti-graft agency, Mr. Oluwaleke Atolagbe, while handing over a copy of the judgment of the Supreme Court validating the trial to Justice Chikere, during the Monday’s proceedings, said:

“This matter is slated for mention. On March 18, 2016, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeals by the defendant.

“I will urge my lord to adjourn the case to afford the prosecution some time to take some steps. We will need about two weeks. We seek an adjournment for the defendants to take their plea.”

The judge then fixed May 16 for their re-arraignment.

IPOB Reacts To DSS Claim Of Killing And Burying 5 ‘Hausa-Fulani’ Residents

Featured Image

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has reacted to an allegation by the Department of State Service (DSS), that its members slaughtered and buried five northerners in shallow graves in Abia State.

On Saturday, the country’s spy agency had announced that it discovered mass graves of “Hausa-Fulani” residents abducted and murdered by suspected members of the IPOB in Aba.

The agency accused members of the IPOB of carrying out the heinous massacre of the Northerners as part of plans to destabilise the country.

However, in a statement jointly signed by its spokespersons, Mr. Emma Mmezu and Dr. Clifford Iroanya, the pro-Biafra group said:

“Yesterday, the DSS announced that IPOB killed five northerners and buried them in a forest near Aba. Again, it is clear for even toddlers to see the game plan here. A government with a predetermined agenda to cloak IPOB in the garment of violent organisation deliberately designed such a cheap propaganda in order to ignite ethnic cleansing. This very cheap blackmail by the DSS is idiotic and unintelligent.

“First, it is not in our character to kill innocent live in cold blood. Secondly, we assure the DSS and their cohorts that the day we will decide to go violent, the whole world will know, like we did in 1967. Thirdly, five northerners do not make up for 218 IPOB men and women murdered in cold blood between November 2015 and February 2016.

“If we were to declare war, we will begin by killing at least 5,000 people, not just five. Finally, nobody in his/her right senses will take the DSS serious, until they are able to prove how, where, when and why IPOB killed five people and the DSS. The same DSS which could not locate the corpses of over 500 Agatu civilians, suddenly located the five people allegedly IPOB killed.

“The reason the DSS are riding on the intelligence of Nigerians, is probably because, they believe Nigerians are a bunch of idiots who would believe anything. We assure the DSS that their plot to incite blood shed may well come to pass, but when it happens, we will be the first to announce to the world why we finally took up arms. This false accusation by the DSS is a very cheap blackmail, nobody would believe.

“On Saturday May 11, May 1953, hordes of organised crowd swooped on Easterners in Kano and killed 206 of them in cold blood. They were inspired by a hate speech and false accusation levied on all on Easterners in Kano by one Mallam Inua Wada. He claimed that Easterners booed Northern parliamentarian in Lagos.

“He was wrong. He mistook Samuel Akintola for an Easterner. Akintola cancelled his planned trip to campaign in Kano on May 16, 1953. Inua Wada’s propaganda led to ethnic cleansing in Kano on May 16, 1953.

“Exactly 50 years ago, meetings were held in the hostel of the Institute of Administration Zaria (now Ahmadu Bello University, ABU). Easterners were blamed for every wrong in Nigeria. The propaganda worked so well in preparing grounds for the horrendous three wave genocidal pogrom in 1966.

“On December 10, 2014, a well-orchestrated propaganda in Kano that Ndigbo were responsible for the Kanti Kwan Market suicide bombing were so effectively spread, that Easterners were forced to leave Kano in droves. Luckily, the confession of 12 year-old Zarau Babangida that she refused to detonate her explosives. She went on to tell the world how her own father handed her over to the Boko Haram in Bauchi.

“God used her confession to foil the plots of those who planned to incite a pogrom in Kano in December 2014 so Easterners will be driven away just before the presidential elections.”

The Apaadi star, in a recent interview, blamed her absence from acting on poor Nollywood movies, saying she didn’t want to spoil her career with a bad movie.

Nollywood Actress, Doris Simeon Shares New Photos to Mark Her Birthday!

“It’s just that I’m really scared,” she said in the interview. “I just have to be choosy when it comes to acting now. There is a level you get to in your career, one needs to be careful so as not to spoil all you’ve built over the years on the screen with one stupid movie. So I’m only just trying to be careful and choosy in the kind of productions that I find myself.”

She also shut down the notion that the movie industry only favored light-skinned actresses, naming a couple of actresses who were dark skinned and also successful.

She said: “We have many dark skinned actresses in the industry that are doing great. Funke Akindele isn’t light skinned; Liz Da Silver and many more. We have some topnotch dark skinned actresses that have done so well. It’s a thing of choice; it’s even funny when somebody just comes up and says, ‘oh I don’t like the way God created me’ and decides to change it, so it’s a thing of choice. I don’t believe in that notion.”

Boko Haram: FG Dismisses Reports Of N10bn Ransom For Release Of Chibok Girls

Featured Image

The Federal government of Nigeria has refuted a report making the rounds by online media houses that the terror group, Boko Haram is seeking about $50 million (N10 billion) from it as ransom before releasing the schoolgirls it abducted from Chibok, Borno state in 2014.

The dismissal was made known by the country’s Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, during an exclusive interview with the Voice of America.

“It appears we have several versions of this report, he said.

“The one that we heard was from a source that (Boko Haram) wants to release 10 of these girls for one million Euros.

“But the most important thing is that we’ve gone through this route before, and until and when we establish the credibility of this source and the truth behind it, the government will not be in a hurry to make a statement.

“However, government is using its own channels to authenticate the credibility of this source.”

Following accusations by the parents of the abducted girls in a recently held meeting that the Buhari administration was not doing enough to secure the release of their children, the minister said:

“No day passes without the issue of the kidnapped girls not being at the front burner. But these are highly security and intelligence issues which cannot always be discussed openly.

“But I can assure you that, for this government, the return of these girls is what is going to bring the final closure on the Boko Haram terrorism and we are working very hard, daily on it,” he said.

Tasci Regrets Joining Bayern Munich

Featured Image

On loan Bayern Munich defender, Serdar Tasci has admitted he regrets joining the club.

Bayern signed the defender on loan for the remainder of the season, with Martinez and Boateng lost to injury, but he hasn’t made enough impact.

Tasci has featured just once in all competitions and he has acknowledged he expected more from his transfer.

“I would not have joined Bayern had I known that I would get any playing time,” Tasci told Bild.

Bayern have an option to sign Tasci on a permanent deal, but seem unlikely to buy the 28-year-old, whose future remains undecided for now.

“We will see what happens at the end of the season. I don’t know yet what my future looks like,” the former Stuttgart man added.

“We will have to wait and see what options I have. It is too soon to say anything about it.

“A return to Stuttgart? That could be an interesting option.”

Nomoreloss’ Brother Reveals He Kept Many Secrets

Nomoreloss’ Brother Reveals He Kept Many Secrets – Late singer Muyiwa ‘Nomoreloss’ Osinuga kept a lot of secrets, his brother has revealed in a recent interview.

Nomoreloss' Brother Reveals He Kept Many Secrets

Nomoreloss’ Brother Reveals He Kept Many Secrets

Speaking to Punch, Nomoreloss’ younger brother Ademola spoke of the late singer’s selflessness, and his passion for music.

Excerpts from the interview below!

How would you describe your brother, Nomoreloss?

He was a selfless person. He was down-to-earth and that was the reason why he was not loud even though he was in the limelight. In order to be successful in the entertainment industry today, one has to be a bit vain but my late brother was none of that.

Can you recollect your last conversation with him?

He spoke about his daughter and music. He loved both dearly. He always wanted his daughter to be happy and he cared about his music.

What do you remember about his last moments?

As a selfless person, he never wanted anyone to experience the pain he went through. He always called everybody to tell them he was fine, regardless of his condition. On his last night at the hospital, he made it clear to everyone that he was fine. In fact, he asked me to get him cranberry juice on my way to the hospital the following morning. When we got there in the morning, we were told he had passed on.

What was growing up with him like?

It was pretty difficult. We did everything together. He never took ‘no’ for an answer. He was not vain or flashy and could not pretend about anything. He was not interested in the flamboyance in the entertainment industry, he just wanted to sing.

Is there anything you could have done for him or said to him if he were alive?

The only regret and pain I have is that he kept so many secrets to himself.

How do you mean by secrets?

That is a mysterious thing I cannot explain right now. He was not very open. He kept telling everyone he was fine even at his last moments. His passing is still a big shock.
