Lupita Nyong’O was one of the few stars that left a lasting impression on the red carpet of the 2016 Met gala as her towering topknot was the most outstanding hairstyle of the night.
In an interview with Vogue’s Andre Leon Talley, Lupita whose hair was styled by Vernon Francois stated that her sky-high hairstyle was inspired by “sculptural hairdos from around the continent,” as well as the legendary musician Nina Simone.
But when Vogue reported the story, they made a connection between the look and a hairstyle Audrey Hepburn modeled in a 1963 Vogue shoot with Bert Stern.
But this didn’t sit well with Lupita who took to Instagram on Wednesday to further school Vogue about her hair inspiration.
She captioned the post; “Hair Inspiration. Check. @vernonfrancois @voguemagazine #metball2016,” An understated and emphatic “nope.” #
We get the message now Lupita, whoever inspired the updo, one thing is certain , we will not forget it in a hurry!
