Stephen Keshi Led The National Team To Victory At The Africa Cup Of Nations, AFCON, 2013:

Stephen Keshi took up coaching the Nigerian National Team in 2011 and led the Super Eagles of Nigeria to victory at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, just two years after he was appointed by the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF.

Although his team had doubtful beginnings since Nigeria had last won the cup in 1994, Keshi’s determination, commitment to the Nations squad and tactical expertise transformed the team and led them to victory.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Final was played on 10 February 2013 at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg in a contest between Nigeria and Burkina Faso to determine the winner of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Sunday Mba scored the winning – and only goal as Nigeria won the final 1–0 against Burkina Faso.

Stephen Keshi still fresh out the oven as the new coach had taken a huge risk by adding young, home-based players such as Sunday Mba and Godfrey Oboabona, and foreign-based players like Victor Moses, Vincent Enyeama, Emmanuel Emenike, Brown Ideye, John Obi Mikel and Uwa Elderson Echiéjilé.

His decision paid off as each of them played a pivotal role which led Nigeria to victory.

Stephen Keshi Made Nigeria The First Country To Achieve An African Cup Of Nations Trophy And World Cup Qualification At The Same Time In 2013

After winning the AFCON trophy in February 2013, Stephen Keshi secured qualification to the 2014 FIFA World Cup by beating Ethiopia 4–1 on aggregate in a play-off nine-months later on 16 November 2013.

The National team made their fifth appearance at the finals in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil  held from 12 June to 13 July 2014. Nigeria’s first appearance was in 1994 where they reached the second round.

He became the first African coach to successfully qualify Nigeria for the World Cup in a span of 3 years.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup was the 20th World Cup and was played in Brazil from 12 June to 13 July 2014, after the country was awarded the hosting rights in 2007.

After beginning the World Cup tournament with a 0-0 draw against Iran, followed by a controversial 1-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nigeria lost the final group stage match 2-3 against Argentina though Stephen Keshi’s team progressed to the knockout stage on 25 June 2014 courtesy of a 3-1 win by Bosnia and Herzegovina over Iran.

On 30 June 2014, the Super Eagles lost to France in a 2014 World Cup Round of 16 match.

After the match, Keshi announced his resignation as Super Eagles coach, a decision he later reversed after the Nigerian Football Federation renewed his contract.

On 14 October 2014, Stephen Keshi announced he would move to another job as he faced pressure from certain people who were deliberately sabotaging his efforts. He never mentioned who they were.

Prior to his resignation, his team had failed to win a single game in the ongoing Morocco 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifying series.

A lover of his country and a true patriot, Stephen Keshi was willing to continue coaching the Super Eagles as he loved the team and the nation it represented.

CAF president, Issa Hayatou has condoled the NFA and Nigerians following the sudden death of former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, who passed away on Wednesday.

Hayatou expressed his dismay and immense sadness on the passing of the former Nigeria international.

He paid glowing tribute to the deceased, who emerged as the only African coach to have qualified two African teams to the World Cup – Togo in 2006 and Nigeria in 2014.

“His other enviable record is being the only African trainer to have steered a team to the Second Round of the FIFA World Cup, with Nigeria at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

“He had achieved the same feat as a player with the Super Eagles at their maiden participation at the Mundial in 1994, in USA.

“The CAF President conveyed the condolences on his own behalf, the CAF Executive Committee and African football family on the demise of Keshi, who was a jewel to his family, friends and the Nigerian football family, who are badly affected.

Maria Sharapova Issues Statement On 2-Year Ban For Positive Drug Test For Meldonium

Featured Image

In spite of the two years suspension slammed on Maria Sharapova by the International Tennis Federation, after failing a drugs test, the five-time Grand Slam winner, has vowed that she will appeal against the ban, which is backdated to 26 January 2016.

“I cannot accept an unfairly harsh two-year suspension,” she wrote on Facebook.

Sharapova said she would appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The statement read: Today with their decision of a two year suspension, the ITF tribunal unanimously concluded that what I did was not intentional. The tribunal found that I did not seek treatment from my doctor for the purpose of obtaining a performance enhancing substance. The ITF spent tremendous amounts of time and resources trying to prove I intentionally violated the anti-doping rules and the tribunal concluded I did not. You need to know that the ITF asked the tribunal to suspend me for four years – the required suspension for an intentional violation — and the tribunal rejected the ITF’s position.

sharapova 2sharapovasharapova.jpg 3While the tribunal concluded correctly that I did not intentionally violate the anti-doping rules, I cannot accept an unfairly harsh two-year suspension. The tribunal, whose members were selected by the ITF, agreed that I did not do anything intentionally wrong, yet they seek to keep me from playing tennis for two years. I will immediately appeal the suspension portion of this ruling to CAS, the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

I have missed playing tennis and I have missed my amazing fans, who are the best and most loyal fans in the world. I have read your letters. I have read your social media posts and your love and support has gotten me through these tough days. I intend to stand for what I believe is right and that’s why I will fight to be back on the tennis court as soon as possible.

Love, Maria

P.S. My lawyer prepared a short summary of how the ITF process works so I thought I would pass it along to my fans so you too can be aware of what the ITF rules call for.

BREAKING! Maria Sharapova Banned For 2 Years For Failed Drugs Test

Featured Image

Maria Sharapova has been given a two-year suspension on Wednesday by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) for testing positive for the banned substance meldonium.

On March 7, Maria Sharapova revealed at a press conference in Los Angeles that meldoniums had been found in her system after a test in Melbourne taken on January 25

On March 7, Maria Sharapova had revealed at a press conference in Los Angeles that meldoniums had been found in her system after a test in Melbourne taken on January 25

The ruling by an independent three-person panel appointed by the ITF said Sharapova, did not intend to cheat, but that she bore “sole responsibility” and “very significant fault” for the positive test, ESPN reported.

The 29-year-old Russian was provisionally banned in March after testing positive for meldonium at January’s Australian Open.

The heart disease drug, which Sharapova claimed she has been taking since 2006 for health issues, became a banned substance on 1 January 2016.

The ITF, last month before the tribunal, asked for Sharapova to be suspended for four years, but the rules state that she could not be suspended for longer than two years if it was deemed that her use of the drug was not intentional.

The ban has been backdated to January 26 – the day the Russian failed her drugs test – meaning it will end on January 25, 2018.

However, Sharapova has immediately responded by saying she would appeal the decision.

The Worst Government In The History Of Nigeria (2) – Femi Aribisala

Featured Image

George Santayana says: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” If Nigerians were not so forgetful, we would not now be saddled with the burdensome presidency of Muhammadu Buhari.

READ ALSO: The Worst Government In The History Of Nigeria (1) – Femi Aribisala

The views and opinions expressed here are those of Femi Aribisala and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

In his first coming as military head-of-state in 1984, Buhari took Nigeria’s economy from bad to worse. Under him, our national debt rose from $14 billion to $18 billion in less than two years, with the result that Nigeria was no longer able to meet its financial obligations to global bankers. We had to queue for essential commodities, such as bread and milk, which were hard to find. Raw materials and spare parts needed to keep factories running were scarce. Rather than create jobs, tens of thousands of workers lost their jobs. Inflation rose to the astronomical level of 40 percent.

When Buhari seized power, Nigeria’s GDP was $444. When he was overthrown in 1985, Nigeria’s GDP had dropped dramatically to $344. When Buhari seized power, one dollar exchanged for 0.724 naira. But by the time he was overthrown, one dollar exchanged for 0.894 naira; a 23 percent devaluation in barely two years. It was not surprising, therefore, that there was wild jubilation throughout the length and breadth of Nigeria when Buhari was overthrown.

Litany of failure

History is now repeating itself in Nigeria. Since electing Buhari as president one year ago, Nigeria’s GDP has plummeted, with the economy suffering a negative growth in the first quarter of 2016; the worst in 25 years. Prices have skyrocketed. Investors have packed their bags and left Nigeria. Job losses and lay-offs have increased geometrically. Petrol stations have surreptitiously doubled their prices. Nigeria is now on the cusp of a recession.

Buhari was handed over $30 billion in foreign reserves by the Jonathan administration. He inherited over $2.5 billion in the Sovereign Wealth Fund; $1.4 billion in the ECA; and $4.65 billion in back taxes from NLNG. But virtually all of these have been squandered in one year of gross incompetence.

The president took the illegal and ill-advised step of providing N713 billion as bailout for insolvent state governments, without the approval of the national assembly, only to discover that those monies were squandered and not even used as intended to pay salary arrears. He squandered billions of dollars defending doggedly an unrealistic official value of the naira, only to finally admit defeat after the damage had been done.

Billions of dollars were mopped up by corrupt officials and shrewd middlemen who obtained dollars at the official N200 to $1 rate, only to sell this for huge profit at the N380 to $1 black market rate.

Babatunde Fashola boasted while in opposition that: “A serious government will fix the power problem in six months.” Now in office as minister of Power for over six months, power blackouts have been unprecedented under his watch, condemning the Buhari administration by his own words as a most unserious government.

Change for worse

Goodluck Jonathan warned Nigerians about the bankruptcy of Buhari and the APC. His words have now become prophetic. He said in the heat of the 2015 election campaign: “The choice before Nigerians in the coming election is simple. It is a choice between going forward and backward, between the new ways and old ways, between freedom and repression, between a record of visible achievements and beneficial reforms and desperate power seekers with empty promises.”

After 365 days of a disastrous Buhari presidency, only diehard Buharimanics can deny that Jonathan’s warning has not come true. Propaganda has an expiration date, and it must now be abundantly clear that the expiration date for the hot air of Buhari’s government has long passed. Many of those like Dele Sobowale, Oby Ezekwesili and Wole Soyinka, who sang the praises of Buhari during the 2015 election, are already having a buyer’s remorse. Most Nigerians now realise they have been sold a fake bill of goods by Buhari and the APC.

Buhari’s maladroit approach to Nigeria’s diversity has created new fissures. Fulani herdsmen continue to kill innocent farmers while Buhari sees no evil and hears no evil. We are now saddled with a burgeoning secessionist movement that gets more incendiary by the day as the government continues to violate Nigerians’ right to self-assembly by shooting down pro-Biafra activists.

Even more devastating is the fact that Buhari’s body language of Northern domination has energised an irredentist movement in the Niger Delta dedicated to blowing up Nigeria’s economic jugular of oil pipelines and installations. As a result, Shell has had to shut down its Forcados terminal. Chevron’s Escravos operation has been breached. ENI and Exxon Mobil have declared “force majeure.” The outcome is that Nigeria’s oil production is now down from 2.2 million barrels a day to 1.4 million.

Under the circumstances, how can the government possibly celebrate its one-year anniversary except by attempting to pull the wool over the eyes of Nigerians? What precisely can Buhari claim credit for in his one year of a woeful, do-nothing presidency?

Sound and fury signaling nothing

In his speech to Nigerians on his anniversary, the president claimed: “We identified forty-three thousand ghost workers through the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information system.” This is a case of taking credit where it is not due because of the failure to achieve. The Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information system is a legacy of the PDP administration. It was introduced by Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala in 2007. Therefore, it is disingenuous for Buhari to try to get credit for it.

Buhari also said: “The first steps along the path of self-sufficiency in rice, wheat and sugar, big users of our scarce foreign exchange, have been taken.” But Mr. President, the first steps were not taken by your government. If we are well on the way to self-sufficiency in food production, it is because of steps taken by the Jonathan administration, under the transformative leadership of the Akinwunmi Adesina as minister of Agriculture.

It was under Jonathan that dry-season rice farming was introduced, enabling Nigeria to reach 60 percent self-sufficiency in rice production. It was under Jonathan in 2014, and not under your administration in 2015/16, that Olam Rice Farm, the biggest rice-processing mill in Africa, with 105,000 metric tons capacity, was commissioned in Rukubi, Nasarawa State.

The president said furthermore: “We are projecting non-oil revenues to surpass proceeds from oil.” Again, this would not be as a result of any government-induced improvement in the non-oil sector of the economy but would simply be as a result of the decline in oil prices.

Buhari acolytes fanned out in the media, giving him credit for the TSA, even though it was the brainchild of the Jonathan administration. They credit him with the TSA, not realising its imprudent timing has provoked the widespread sacking of bank employees. They claim bombastically that as much as N2.2 trillion has been saved through the TSA. At the same time, Lai Mohammed and Rotimi Amaechi are sent to convince Nigerians the country is broke.

Buharimaniacs even claim the president’s outrageous 30 junkets abroad within the year of Nigeria’s economic adversity has ensured Nigeria is no longer a pariah nation. However, Nigeria was not a pariah nation before Buhari came: Nigeria has become a pariah nation since the coming of Buhari. Before Buhari, Nigeria was the number one destination-country for foreign investments in Africa. Since Buhari’s arrival, foreign investor have left in droves.

Goodbye to change

To demonstrate to Nigerians that his anti-corruption policy is achieving great success, Buhari promised to publish the names of those who had returned looted money to the government. This would confirm once and for all that the government’s anti-corruption programme is an effective tool for re-harnessing the nation’s lost resources.

But having won plaudits for this pledge, the government no longer had any need for it. It soon became another casualty of its APC (All Promises Cancelled) tendency. No sooner had the promise been made than the announcement came that the government would no longer be releasing the names. But should a president make promises without first thinking it through? Would this tendency not convince the international community that the government of Nigeria cannot be trusted?

The government’s last-minute excuse that it changed its mind because it does not want to embarrass those returning the monies is not credible. This administration routinely leaks to the press the names of those under investigation by EFCC. That means it names publicly those accused of corruption even when they have not been convicted of corruption. Now it wants us to believe it is reticent about naming those who took government money and agreed to return them.

The government’s disdain for promises made continue. On May 30th, 2016, while hosting State House correspondents in Aso Rock, the president told Nigerians the change mantra on which he fought and won the 2015 election has been thrown out of the window. He said: “We recently just found out that we are poor because we don’t have anything to fall back to. This is the condition we found ourselves and this change mantra had to go through hell up till yesterday.”

Having suddenly discovered, after one year in office, that rich Nigeria is actually poor, the president then sent Lai Mohammed to tell Nigerians the government has recovered a whopping $9 billion of loot from PDP politicians. Just how poor does that make the government?

Contradictions galore

It is more than abundantly clear that the Buhari administration simply cannot be truthful. How can the government be poor, and at the same time have $9 billion recovered from looters? How can the government have $9 billion recovered, yet it went cap-in-hand to the Chinese seeking a loan of $2 billion? If $9 billion has been recovered, then Nigeria is not broke. If $9 billion has been recovered, the government should now be able to fulfil its failed campaign promises.

This is what the president said one year earlier: “The monies we realise from anti-corruption campaign will be adequately used to improve education in the country.” “The money saved will finance jobs, health-care and the provision of social safety net for the needy, weak and vulnerable of our land.” In which case, many of our problems should soon be over if in fact the government’s anti-corruption campaign has been as effective as we are now meant to believe.

But if you believe the government has actually recovered $9 billion from treasury looters, then you have learnt nothing about this government in the past year. The truth of the matter is that whatever this government says must be taken with a very large grain of salt. Adams Oshiomhole had told Nigerians a U.S. government official revealed to him that one single Nigerian stole a massive $6 billion under the Jonathan administration. So how come the government has only managed to recover $9 billion from the entire country after one year of highfalutin media hype?

The government’s approach of revealing unverifiable figures of recovered loot without the names of those from whom they were recovered reeks of corruption for lack of transparency. If, as I have maintained elsewhere, Lai Mohammed is Nigeria’s version of Iraq’s Comical Ali, then the recovered $9 billion must be synonymous to Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction which could nowhere be found.

There is no way of knowing if the figures released by the government are true or fiction, because the names of those allegedly returning the money are not mentioned alongside how much they returned. If they are named and shamed, the looters themselves can verify if the amount declared is more or less than what they returned. Covering up the names simply provides avenues for whatever loot is recovered to be re-looted by government accomplices.

You can rest now,’” Brown said. “Hardest thing I had to do in my life was tell my daughter to let go … I don’t wish that on my worst enemy or any enemy. That is the worst pain in the world.”

Brown also commented on the similarities between Kristina and her mother Whitney Houston’s death, and insinuated that he held Nick Gordon responsible.

“It’s not a mystery to me,” Bobby told Robin about the cause of death of Bobbi Kristina. “The same thing that happened to my daughter is what happened to Whitney. There’s only one person that was around both occasions, only one person who says they were there to protect them, and he didn’t.”

Reuters also gathered that the local currency, which traded at N357 against the greenback on Monday at the unofficial market, was N355 on Friday, June 3, 2016.

The President, Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria, Alhaji Aminu Gwadabe, said, “Dollar demand has increased due to uncertainty around the central bank’s forex policy.

“Most firms and individuals that normally sell dollars to retail currency dealers are holding on to the cash.”

Following the stance of dollar and the incessant attacks on oil installations within the Niger Delta region by a resurgent group, Niger Delta Avengers, oil prices on Tuesday hit their highest point in eight months.

Brent crude futures were up 67 cents at $51.22 a barrel by 1135 GMT, having hit an intraday peak of $51.29 earlier in the day, their highest since October.

U.S. crude oil futures also rose 60 cents to $50.29 a barrel, having touched a fresh 2016 peak of $50.37, their highest since October last year.

“With Brent staying above $50, oil is on an upward momentum with the restart of French refineries that were shut on strikes and pipeline attacks in Nigeria,” said Kaname Gokon at brokerage Okato Shoji in Tokyo.

Woman Quits Her Job To Breastfeed Her 36-Year-Old Boyfriend Full-time

Featured Image

Shocked, amazed or disgusted? These feelings resonate well with Jennifer Mulford, 35, as those are people’s reactions to her story of quitting her job to breastfeed her bodybuilder boyfriend, Brad Leeson, 36, full-time.

Jennifer who last breastfed twenty-years-ago shared her story and many breastfeeding mothers deemed it offensive claiming she’s sexualizing breastfeeding, while some have opined her story on Adult Breastfeeding, ABR, to be a ruse.

The 35-year-old revealed to The Sun, “When I read about the bond breastfeeding could create between two people I was envious. I have always enjoyed my breasts being touched during sex more than anything else so I knew I would enjoy it.”

The mother-of-a-twenty-year-old daughter who dry breastfeeds her man every two hours, everyday, to induce lactation and fool her body into thinking she has a baby has added flax seeds, oatmeal and a herbal pill which is claimed to help supply milk in her diet. Brad is ‘excited’ about the health benefits as he is a ‘gym buff’.

The Atlanta native quit her job to breastfeed Brad full time

After learning about the bond of adult breastfeeding created between two people, Jennifer had tried dating sites in search of a partner as openminded about ABR but eventually shared the idea with Brad Leeson, a bodybuilder and her childhood sweetheart and he supported her.

The Atlanta native said, “It was like a light switch flicked in his head. I could tell from his voice he was curious and excited. At that moment I knew that I had a partner for life. We both wanted the same thing out of the relationship – a magical bond that only breastfeeding can achieve.’

She said Brad doesn’t mind being breastfed in public but she likes it private, “If it was up to Brad we would, but it’s very private to me. It’s been difficult to distinguish the difference between nurturing and sex.”

Brad is a gymbuff who loves to breastfeed

On sexualizing breastfeeding, Jennifer explained. “Although it’s so beautiful and peaceful it’s also erotic. It’s been hard to get through the first few nursing sessions without being tempted to have sex, but each time it’s getting easier.”

One Facebook observer wrote, “It’s idiots like these two that are making it difficult for breastfeeding mothers to do so publicly without shame or ridicule. They are only increasing the sexualisation of breastfeeding. There are NO medical benefits for adults to consume breast milk. Breast milk is for babies.”

According to Men’s Health, several reasons for bodybuilders taking breastmilk are myths as a registered dietitian, Marc Halpern, has revealed that there is zero evidence to suggest breast milk can benefit grown men rather smoothies with protein, fruit, vegetables and milk is much better and known to help.

Some reasons bodybuilders consume breast milk include, its high calorie and nutrient density, its designed to rapidly grow a human baby so some believe a similar effect will happen to a fully grown human, adding a nutrient and calorie dense liquid to the diet can help with muscle gain, its growth hormone contents and the notion that one cup of breast milk has 170 calories, 10 grams of fat, 16 carbs and two grams of protein.

Halpern said breast milk is only as good as the diet and general health of the person who produces it. ‘Breast milk generally isn’t regulated—if the woman has a terrible diet the breast milk will be terrible quality.’

Most women I know love having their breasts sucked before, during and after sex. So is this a sex thing or is she for real?

Douglas Costa: Guardiola Cannot Sign Bayern Players

Featured Image

There have been speculations suggesting Douglas Costa will follow Guardiola to Manchester City, that will not be the case, as the Brazil international has revealed the Spaniard is not allowed to sign any Bayern player.

The former Barcelona coach lured the attacking midfielder to the Allianz Arena from Shakhtar Donetsk, and it was believed he will follow him to the EPL.

“Would I be open to City if Pep called? It’s something he has in his contract, a clause that says he cannot sign any players from Bayern,” Costa told Globo Esporte.

“I am in a situation where I could stay at Bayern for a long time. The club’s philosophy is to keep players at Bayern for a long time. I am happy at the prospect of enjoying a long career here.

“I have made a big step forward since leaving Shakhtar for Bayern. I did not expect to become so important right away. This has been the best year of my career.”

Costa enjoyed a successful season under Guardiola at Bayern, scoring seven goals and claiming 12 assists in his 41 games, and he has nothing but praise for his former coach.

“You cannot compare Pep to any Brazilian coach,” he added.

“If you put all Brazilian coaches together, you would get Pep. One has motivational skills, another is tactically strong. But Pep has it all.

“Pep has the magic touch. He breathes football. He still played himself quite recently. Pep always keeps inventing new things. He is magic. I hope he can win the Champions League with City.”

#CopaAmerica2016: Dempsey Scores 50th International Goal In 4-0 Thrashing Of Costa Rica

Featured Image

The USA could have been eliminated if they failed to win against Costa Rica, but Dempsey’s 50th goal opened the floodgates, as they saw off their opponents with a 4-0 win.

Dempsey scored from the spot as early as the 9th minute after Bobby Wood was brought down in the box. Yedlin set up the play for Wood, who was ready to fire, before he was hacked down.

The attacker played as a striker in the first game, but slid into an attacking midfielder role on Tuesday, where he was more comfortable and assisted the second goal.

The Costa Rica defence fell apart after the second goal, with left back Fabian Johnson causing them problems and setting up the third goal, with Bobby Wood turning in time to fire in the third goal in the 42nd minute.

The second half was a little more subdued with the game already out of hand, and Costa Rica opting to sub out Joel Campbell, but Graham Zusi, who came on in the 70th minute, added a fourth goal in the 87th minute after stealing a pass.
