Wenger Could Gamble On Giroud, Ozil And Koscielny Fitness

Featured Image

Arsene Wenger has revealed he could be tempted to bring Giroud, Ozil and Koscielny into the first team early.

The gunners had to do without the trio in their opening day loss to Liverpool. But could include them on Saturday, against Leicester City.

The three players were given extended breaks, after their exploits for Germany and France at the Euro 2016.

Wenger acknowledged the trio are still short of full match fitness, but revealed he could opt to take a risk on them for the trip to Leicester, with Koscielny in particular being considered due to the club’s injuries in central defence – Gabriel and Per Mertesacker are both out.

“Maybe I will take a gamble on bringing them back early but I have 48 hours to decide that,” said Wenger.

“It’s a bit early, I have three players who have not played for two-and-a-half months. Laurent is close to returning and if I have to take a gamble on one it is certainly on him.

“It’s very difficult. The clubs pay always for the fact the players play in this tournament. The Euro finished July 10, you started August 14. So what can you do?

“Do you give the player normal holiday and they aren’t ready, or they are mentally and physically jaded.

“The fact is I gave Koscielny a holiday at the start and Gabriel, Mertesacker, we lost the two of them.”

Arsenal fans will not have to wait too long for the return of Aaron Ramsey, who is out with a hamstring problem.

Wenger added: “Aaron Ramsey should be back after the international break. It is not a bad injury.”

Klopp Not Interested In Moreno Criticism

Featured Image

Jurgen Klopp has vehemently stated he is not interested in the criticism of Alberto Moreno. And he is at peace with Liverpool’s left-back options.

The Spanish defender has been criticised for a string of poor displays last season. With his showing in the Europa league final, costing Liverpool the trophy.

Most recently was his display in the 4-3 win over Arsenal. The 24-year-old caused a penalty, which was saved by Mignolet, only for him to be caught out of position for Walcott’s opener.

Klopp, however, pointed out that the errors could have been collectively avoided had the team defended better in the build-up to both situations.

“We do this all time when somebody was not too good that we talk about it in a press conference?,” the visibly annoyed Reds boss asked at Melwood.

“That’s cool, I’m looking forward to it! He was involved in the penalty situation, right? So that’s something of course. We always spoke about how we can defend together differently because the situation was created two times before the penalty situation.

“In my opinion, we could have avoided this situation in five or six times before and then it came to the situation where Alberto could have done better – that’s right. But that’s all. I don’t really understand what we are talking about.

“Are we talking about Alberto Moreno because he did not defend so good in the game against Arsenal? I told you a lot times that I cannot be interested in the criticisms from other people.

“Alberto played, so there should be a reason for it. That’s what I’m thinking about, not what other people want me to think about a player.

“Should I read more newspapers or something? The world is not satisfied with our left-back, or what?”

Klopp was asked whether it was risky for Liverpool not to recruit another specialist for that role before the close of the summer window, and the German made it clear that if the club had sourced a target who suited their style, a transfer would’ve already materialised.

“We have to make decisions and the most comfortable thing in this situation is having three players for every position,” he explained.

“So one can get injured, and if another gets injured during a game, you still have an option. It’s not about being risky on one position or something like this. It’s how it is with all other positions – we would’ve found the perfect fit with all the things around, it’s not about money, only about playing style, defending skills, offensive skills and technical skills.

“If we would’ve found this, then I think you would know because we would have made a transfer.”

Klopp highlighted that James Milner, Ragnar Klavan and Nathaniel Clyne can all operate on that flank.

“We have a lot of players in our opinion who can play, in our style, at left full-back,” he said.

“You can say ‘they are not left-backs’, but we are not blind. What I hear now is that a lot of people aren’t happy with the solution of Alberto Moreno there, well, I’m sorry about this.

“Milly can player there, and he played really well if you saw the Barcelona game. I had a talk with him and asked him what his opinion is on it. He’s an experienced player and I don’t want to force a new position on a player.vI want players to be convinced by themselves.

“Clyney has played it, we have a wonderful young player in Trent Alexander who plays right full-back.

“Ragnar Klavan, on a very defensive day, he can play left full-back. We have a lot of options and you can say ‘take another one,’ that’s possible but only if it really is the guy we want.

“You have to build a squad where everyone sees the perspective to play. The problem with transfers is that nobody cares about the players who are still here.

“What should we do with them? Put them away somewhere? It’s about commitment. If we expect commitment from the players, we have to show commitment too. It’s about work and development.

“Football is a game you cannot play without making mistakes.”

Bacca Won’t Leave Milan, Until They’re Back At The Top

Featured Image

AC Milan striker, Carlos Bacca has stated emphatically he will not be leaving the club until they’re back amongst Europe’s elite.

The former Sevilla striker has been continually linked with a move away from San Siro. And he claimed clubs from England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France were looking to sign him.

Bacca also stressed his desire to play champions league football, when West Ham came calling.

But the 29-year-old looks set to remain with Milan, despite Vincenzo Montella’s side having failed to qualify for European competition last season.

“A lot has been said, clubs being interested in me or making offers for me,” Bacca told Milan TV.

“The truth is that I had not taken any decision. I’m happy here with the group, working and trying to prepare myself for the first game in the best way I can.

“I’m very confident for the upcoming season, with a coach who likes to play with the ball and play with purpose. I like that, because this way I could get two or three chances a game.

“Europe? It’s one of the reasons I came, because I thought I was going to a team that could play in the Champions League.

“But then I think about it with a cool head, and when I decided to leave Sevilla it was because I wanted to bring Milan back to the top and I won’t leave until I’ve done that.

“I’m an ambitious player. I couldn’t reach the Champions League in my first year, but I hope to experience it soon. I’m glad I stayed at Milan and I like playing in a team like this.”

Nani : Signing New Contract With Manchester United Was The Worst Moment Of My Life

Featured Image

Former Manchester United winger Nani has claimed signing a new five-year deal at Old Trafford turned out to be the worst moment of his life.

Nani – now of La Liga side Valencia – joined United from Sporting Lisbon in 2007 and was rewarded with a new long-term contract in 2013 following the appointment of David Moyes as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor.

But the Portugal international struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular under Moyes and featured only 13 times during the 2013/14 season, as United slumped to a seventh place finish in the Premier League – their lowest in the top-flight since 1990.

“It could have been the best moment of my life but it turned into the worst,” Nani, who was part of the Portugal team that won Euro 2016 earlier this summer, told The Guardian.

“After you sign a contract like that, you think all the people will be behind you and help you. And you see the opposite. Then the stress comes. I was down and, when it’s like that, of course, the injuries come too. It was a bad moment. It was something that made me very down, very disappointed.”

Sunderland Manager David Moyes Keen On Nottingham Forest Striker Britt Assombalonga

Featured Image

Sunderland manager David Moyes  travelled to Griffin Park yesterday to watch Brentford take on Nottingham Forest.

According to Starsport David  Moyes made the trip to watch Forest’s prolific striker Britt Assombalonga, who started from the bench.

The birth of Assombalonga’s child hours before the game meant he missed out on a starting spot.

But he did come on for the final 20 minutes where he missed a late chance to equalise.

Assombalonga was Forest’s club record £5.5m signing from Peterborough two years ago. He is now valued at around £7m.

Forest are desperate not to sell and know losing Assombalonga will be a hammer blow to any plans they have of reaching the play-offs.

But Moyes has cash to splash at Sunderland and is expected to make a number of new signings before the transfer window slams shut.

Jose Mourinho Will Allow James Wilson To Leave Manchester United But Only On Loan

Featured Image

Manchester United striker James Wilson has been given the all-clear to leave Old Trafford on loan by boss Jose Mourinho.

He spent last season in the second tier at Brighton, scoring five goals in 28 games as the Seagulls narrowly missed out on promotion.

Wilson would have been hoping to break into United’s first-team following his return from the south coast.

But the emergence of Marcus Rashford and signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic has meant he’s not in Mourinho’s plans.

Wilson burst onto the scene under Ryan Giggs’ temporary spell in charge and he also played under Louis van Gaal during the Dutchman’s first season in charge.

The 20-year-old has four years left on his contract – and will be hoping to impress club staff during his second stint in the Championship.

Arsene Wenger Promises To Spend More Before The Transfer Window Shuts

Featured Image

Arsene Wenger has reassured worried Arsenal fans he intends to spend before the transfer deadline.

The signing of Granit Xhaka for £35million remains the club’s only capture this summer and are still in need of a defender and striker

The lack of action has concerned Gunners fans who have grown frustrated at the lack of spending.

“It was important before the game,” the Frenchman said. “You do not sign players because you think it’s very important or not. I think it’s very difficult to find players and identify them. That’s why everyone is on the market for the same players and the deals.

And when asked about a potential deal for Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi, Wenger added: “I believes it’s better I don’t talk about any individual player. We are ready to spend the money we have. It’s not my money. It’s important to spend money the right way.”

‘We work very hard and I cannot tell you much more. What I fight against is to tell the only way is to buy. It is right when you buy. We are not scared to spend the money. It is about the quality.

‘I think this club has been built on that. The main thing on building the club is based on the transfer policy. I know everyone questions that because we’ve not done as much as they wish.

‘I’ve done over 400 transfers, and I know every transfer is written. You are not the only person to decide on [them].’

And Wenger has yet again bemoaned the the price of players in today’s transfer market – especially for English clubs due to the amount of money in the Premier League.

He said: ‘There’s two markets. One for English clubs, one for others.

‘English clubs can suffocate themselves. They have to pay massive wages, even when the players go out, they have to pay half their wages.

‘That means over a longer period, the advantage for English clubs will drop.’

“We are satisfied and we’re 99 per cent of the way there,” Howe said. “I don’t want to add too many more to the group, we’re quite high in numbers”, he said.
“There’s potentially one position we might look at, but whether that will fall for us, I don’t know. Again, it would be a young player, one for the future rather than for the now. Unless we do that deal, we’ll stay as we are.

“I think our name is certainly better known now, so that certainly helps. The first season in the Premier League when speaking to targets from abroad, there is that unknown.  We were not an established Premier League name, but we’re now better equipped this year to make signings.”
