Adam Lallana Delighted After Scoring First England Goal

Featured Image

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana is delighted to finally break his scoring duck for England.

Lallana scored in the 95th minute as England won their World Cup Qualifying match against Slovakia. The match was Lallana’s 27th for the Three Lions.

He said after the match:  “It’s been a long time coming. I put pressure on myself to score goals and I knew it was only a matter of time.”

“I had a few chances tonight. The ones that hits the post is a great effort and just unlucky. We keep plugging away and I thought as a unit we played brilliantly.

“They didn’t have any chances. So credit to the lads how we’ve worked since the new boss has come in. it’s a great start.”

Good start for Sam Allardyce

Lallana also had praise for new England manager Sam Allardyce.

“It’s a great start for him [Sam] and the team. He made it very clear to us that he wanted to keep a clean sheet away from home in a World Cup qualifier.

“It was going to be tough and I also thought we were very disciplined today at times. Also as the game went on and they went down to ten men we did create the chances.

“Sometimes you’ve just got to stick it out until the last minute and thankfully we got the goal.”

Prognosis: Between Jonathan And Buhari

Prognosis: Between Goodluck Jonathan And Muhammadu Buhari – Abdallah Muhammed Sanni

Continuity was the slogan in place of the fresh air we breathed between 2011-2015. It was indeed a real fresh air.

Just before the election, we heard from the then Super Minister that the economy was doing fine. The last bit we heard was that we were borrowing to pay salary. Little did we know that contractors all over the nation were owed in trillions of Naira and that most projects that were politically motivated were just a cover up for election score cards.

This piece was written by Abdallah Muhammed Sanni. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

The entire economy was in shambles, Nigeria was just a body without SOUL. The centre could no longer hold, we were deep into recession!

The opposition party could not pretend they never saw it either but the ultimate goal was to grab power; they have to undertake the rescue mission. Theirs was mission accomplish.

A battered nation was near collapsing. The entire world saw it, our economists that were outside the system roared and forecast the doom we are in today but they were ignored because of party affiliations. Now, the truth is open.

Let us analyze the magic wand of the then Super Minister and supposedly economic team of that administration that never saved for anything and the management of today’s reality if they had continued in office.

It is obvious that the oil price would not have gone up but then the avengers would not have arisen but the stealing of oil would have doubled if not tripled. Government revenue from oil would have been worse still because the culture of stealing would have continued.

The remnant of the external reserve which as at today is still at about $28b would have been squandered. Government agencies would not have helped either. TSA would have been ignored, relaxation in tax collection, it would have been all about borrowing.

We would have been dancing with the IMF, with its obnoxious conditions and forced policies.

The Naira would have been in more shambles.

NLC, TUC, oil workers would not have been managed. Demonstrations and strikes would have been the order of the day. Schools would have been on strike. The entire country would have been in a state of comatose.

If we are buying rice today at N16,000 and hoping it will come down, it would have been worse. May be smuggling would have been the only option. We would have been in total doom economically.

The security situation pre-election as we all saw it then would have been a child’s play because the I-don’t-care attitude towards the life of the people of the Northeast was an eyesore and wonders would not have happened.

We would have lost that part of the country to the insurgency (The caliphate) which would have been a gateway to total disintegration of the country for those who never saw anything good in our forced marriage.

Yes, Buhari’s policies are not yet yielding results. Yes, there are policy somersaults and mistakes. Yes, prices of commodities have gone up. Yes, there is recession as you wish to call it but there are plans, policies being put in place to curtail the wastes witnessed in the past and foster a new economic agenda for diversification to promote growth, to boost employment, to put infrastructure in place, provide electricity, to grow food, manufacture products, industrialise the nation, attract foreign investment, revitalise our refinery and build new ones, reduce corruption, if not totally eradicated, retrieve the stolen funds and jail the thieves and give hope and future for the next generation.

All these as I mentioned are all ongoing despite the dwindling revenue and the activities of saboteurs who have vowed to disrupt the plans because they have been displaced and being exposed and tried for mismanagement, stealing and gang-raping of our dear Nation.

Let’s give kudos to this present government for being there for us and pray not to witness the recklessness, excesses, lawlessness, stealing with absolute impunity we witnessed in the past.

God bless Nigeria.

Declare Fridays A Work-Free Day For Muslims Like Sundays – MURIC

Featured Image

The Director of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Ishaq Akintola, has sought for an equal treatment between Christians and Muslims in Nigeria.

READ ALSO: Stop Using Phones In Church – Catholic Archbishop

Speaking exclusively to The Punch, the professor of Islamic Eschatology also reacted to the Christian Association of Nigeria’s criticism of the recent visit by the United States Secretary of State, John Kerry, describing it as unwarranted.

He said: “I still insist Nigeria is not a secular state. It does not recognise any religion at all. An example is the Sallah holidays. Although Christians used to enjoy Christmas and other holidays, there was no Sallah holiday for Muslims on Eid el-Fitr and Eid el-Kabir days during the colonial days. We wrenched that from our oppressors’ hands after a long struggle.

“Another example where freedom has come our way is where Nigerian Christians compelled Muslims to operate Christian financial system with its riba (interest) which is haram (forbidden) for Muslims, yet they refused to allow Muslims to practise the Islamic banking until a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (now Emir of Kano), belled the cat by introducing Islamic banking.

“What exactly do I mean? Nigerian Christians have been enjoying everything they need since the British took over the country and colonised it. They have the Christian common law while they object to Muslims having Shariah. They enjoy Christo-Western education while they restrict Muslim children’s access to Islamic education. Christians are free to do whatever they like on Sundays but Muslims are chained to their workplaces on Fridays. That chain must break. Freedom is our cry.

“The government supports both Christian and Muslim pilgrimages. Christian and Muslim prayers are said at official functions. The preamble of the Nigerian Constitution leans heavily on God. So, we are a multi-religious nation. It is when Christian leaders want to pull the wool over our eyes that they claim that Nigeria is a secular country.

“We must widen the horizon of the quest for self-determination. They hold Christian court or church marriage whose certificate is recognised by law whereas mosque marriage certificate is not recognised. Christian schoolchildren use Christian school uniforms but Muslim children are disallowed from using the hijab. Muslim women are denied driving licences and international passports in Nigeria on account of their use of hijab.

“There is an urgent need to straighten this lopsided system. It is not working. Nigerian Muslims still remain oppressed today because they have yet to be emancipated in the four examples above. There are more areas of oppression. But there are one or two aspects where the Muslims have been liberated.

“So you can see that it is all about struggling for liberation. It is like a master-slave affair. Those who sit on the necks of Muslims are reluctant to set them free. But we will get there whether the oppressor likes it or not. It is interesting to note that Christians know that a Muslim commits a sin each time he collects or gives riba yet they never freely allowed it. What do you call that? Do we love our neighbours?

“Do you call that freedom of religion? Isn’t there some element of selfishness in that? Didn’t Jesus teach loving the neighbour? I remember that a particular bishop from the East led his followers in a public demonstration against the introduction of Islamic banking. Ridiculous, isn’t it?

“As for the claim that Muslims are being favoured by the present administration, that is large-scale falsehood. Even Nigerian toddlers know that Buhari is religion-blind. He is not a fanatic. He just wants to fix Nigeria.

“How has the present administration favoured Muslims? The facts are at our fingertips. Take the South-West as an example: there are six states there and each has a minister. Only Babatunde Fashola and Adebayo Shittu are Muslims. The rest are Christians. Let CAN tell us if that is not so. Do you call two out of six a favour? And that is just a tip of the iceberg in Buhari’s administration.

“The parastatals are replete with Christian chief executives. But Muslims are not complaining. Nigeria now has about 35 ministers out of which only 17 are Muslims. Tell me how the present administration has favoured Muslims. Is CAN using mathematics or mathemagic?

“Personally, I believe that we are cutting our nose to spite our face in this country. We should allow government to pick the best candidates for positions in order to get maximum performance. We should not always be thinking of religious or ethnic leaning. Muslims have tried as much as possible to maintain this principle but CAN is always making a noise because of its grip on the press.”

Rabiot Wants EPL Move

Featured Image

Paris Saint Germain midfielder, Adrien Rabiot has registered his desire to play in the EPL in the near future.

The Frenchman spent a couple of seasons with Manchester City, moving around several teams as a youth before leaving for PSG.

However, he has been unable to hold down a regular spot in the starting XI, prompting talks of him leaving the club.

And the France Under 21 international says he hopes to return to England one day, even for reasons beyond football.

“I really liked my time in England, and the life there, even outside of football,” he told Telefoot.

“I told myself that I will return one day. I have always had the desire to play in England, it is in me.

“The Premier League… that is football!”

Rabiot had been linked with clubs throughout the summer, but he says new PSG coach Unai Emery wanted to keep him, and he hopes to become an important player this term.

“I have also spoken with the coach and he told me that he is really counting on me,” he added.

“I want to prove this season that I can be an important player for the team. My ambition is to establish myself as a starter at PSG and I think that with that, international recognition with France will also come.

“Of course I am very happy at PSG and I would like to stay for a long time, to grow with the club and to become captain of the team one day, but we cannot predict how things can turn out.”

Petrol Price Increase Looms As N145/litre Is No Longer Feasible

Featured Image

The past and present Group Managing Directors of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) have expressed concerns that the current pump price of petrol products at N145 per litre is no longer feasible.

This assertion was made by the GMDs after a one-day meeting held with the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, in Abuja.

READ ALSO: Nigerians May Die Of Suffering Before Your Reforms Are Completed – Shehu Sani Warns Buhari

<

p style=”text-align: justify”>According to them, the sum is no longer correlating well with the price-determining components of the commodity and the fluctuations of the foreign exchange rate.

A statement issued by the NNPC with respect to development, read:

“They (the GMDs) noted that the petrol price of N145/litre is not congruent with the liberalisation policy especially with the foreign exchange rate and other price determining components such as crude cost, Nigerian Ports Authority charges, etc remaining uncapped.”

The statement now confirmed an exclusive report by The Punch on August 7, 2016, in which oil marketers disclosed that the actual or real cost of petrol was N151.87 when all the pricing components are adequately captured.

The oil marketers had griped that they were struggling to maintain petrol price at N145 per litre because of the stiff competition in the downstream oil sector, but stressed that the practice was not sustainable.

Nigerians May Die Of Suffering Before Your Reforms Are Completed – Shehu Sani Warns Buhari

Featured Image

Senator Shehu Sani, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, has cautioned the President Muhammadu Buhari led government to put in place short-term measures to cushion the effect of the current economic crisis on the citizens of Nigeria – or risk the people dying before he completes his reforms.

In a chat with The Punch, the lawmaker, who represents Kaduna-Central Senatorial District at the Senate, revealed that going by Buhari’s plans and time frame, Nigerians might ‘die off’ before the current reforms of this government are achieved.

He said: “If you happen to be in a position of power, inasmuch as you want to bring reforms that are painful, you have to understand the need for you to carry the people along because if you keep on bringing reforms and continue to unleash hardship on the people, you may as well say there is a paradise but people need to be alive to reach that paradise.

“If you keep reforming and reforming and the people are suffering and dying, you may reach the Promised Land alone because by that time everyone has died. Of what use would that be?”

The legislator also called the attention of the president to the decline in his popularity status among Nigerians, saying this, in view of the increasing number of open letters on the hardships being suffered by Nigerians.

His words, “Let me tell you how it started, which is general with all persons who just took power in Nigeria. In 1979 and 1999, when a new president assumed office, he would have the support of all Nigerians. The first stage will be, ‘We support you; we stand by you and we are going to back you.’

“The second stage will be, ‘We are advising you.’ The third stage will be, ‘We are cautioning you.’ At the fourth stage, Nigerians will say, ‘We are warning you.’ The fifth stage will be, ‘We doubt you.’ The sixth stage, it will be, ‘You are incompetent.’ The seventh stage will be, ‘You should go.’

“When you study these stages, you will see that we have moved behind 100 per cent support to “advise.” And with letters flying and criticisms following, it is about “cautioning.” And I think the handwritings are on the wall for everybody to see.”

Griezmann: I Won’t Leave Atletico Until Simeone Leaves

Featured Image

Antoine Griezmann has stated he will only leave Atletico Madrid if Diego Simeone leaves the club.

The striker was linked with a move away from the club, with PSG looking to entice him away from La Liga. However, he has revealed he wants to help grow the club, after signing a new contract.

And he also revealed his decision to remain at the club depends on Simeone staying at the club.

“The only doubt would be if Simeone leaves for PSG or wherever,” he told Telefoot.

“I called him before extending my contract and he confirmed to me that he was staying. I can learn a lot from him.

“PSG are not my goal at the moment. I’m happy in Spain.

“I’m always proud to be popular with the fans. I try to smile and do my best. If they like it, it’s even better.”

Sumbo Adeoye Reveals Why She Left 2Face Idibia After 2 Kids

Featured Image

Mrs Sumbo Adeoye, who has 2 kids for singer Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia, has revealed why she quit her relationship with the singer.

Sumbo Adeoye revealed in a recent interview that she discovered there were other women pregnant for 2Face when she was pregnant with the second child, and this left her broken.

She said:

I met Tuface when I was a student of Yaba College of Technology. I had just lost my dad and my mum was living in America. For someone who was a daddy’s girl, I needed love. This was the only person that was showing me love at that time. I feel I had that experience so that other young girls would not make the same mistake. I was 24 when I fell pregnant the first time.

When I got pregnant the first time, I approached the pastor of the church I was attending then and he brought me out before the church and judged me. I was asked to go and bring the father of my unborn child so we could be joined together. I brought a different person and we got married at the registry.

Everything fell apart when I had a child who looked nothing like him and my mum came back from America to ask who gave my hand out in marriage because she was not a part of it. I had to walk out of the marriage which I arranged by myself. I moved back home and by age 25 I was already a single mum and a divorcee. There was so much shame and reproach.

Sumbo Adeoye quit 2Face over infidelity

It got to a point in my life that I felt that the Devil you know is better than the angel you don’t know, so I went back to my baby daddy and his mum talked me into living with him so he won’t have more women and babies. We lived together for three years and that was how the second pregnancy happened.

It was not a bed of roses while I was there. I was trying to put together what was not supposed to be. I think we broke up in 2009 after I had the second baby.

There were other women who were also going to have babies for him around that time. I came to my senses like the prodigal son and I was so broken. I think my baby daddy was out of the country that fateful day when I returned from work. I packed all my things plus that of my children, and I went back to my parents’ home.

Vardy: Snubbing Arsenal Was Easy

Featured Image

Leicester’s Jamie Vardy has stated it was quite easy to reject Arsenal, as both his head and heart told him to stay put.

After the England international helped Leicester win their first EPL title, Arsenal activated his £22 million release clause.

Instead, the striker opted to remain at the King Power Stadium and signed a new deal with the Foxes.

And Vardy, 29, says it was an easy decision to make.

“I was in a hotel room [in Chantilly] for so many hours of every day with nothing to do. You had a lot of time on your hands,” he told The Guardian.

“I am not going to beat around the bush – every time I thought about it, and every aspect of it I thought about, both my head and my heart were saying to stay at Leicester, which is why I made my decision to stay.

“There were loads of reasons. You get that much time to think about, every single thing down to the tea lady. You think about what might happen, what might not. Where you could be, where not. Every time I thought about every little thing, though, both head and heart were saying ‘you need to stay’.

“I could see people’s point when they assumed I would go, but, deep down, if you don’t think it’s right for you, you don’t do it. It’s as simple as that.

“In my professional life, it was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make, but I haven’t been a professional for that long. It was hard, but it was actually an easy decision to make.”

Ozil Wants Wilshere’s No. 10 Shirt

Featured Image

Mesut Ozil is insisting and confident he’ll get the No. 10 shirt at Arsenal following Wilshere’s loan to Bournemouth.

The Germany international has donned the No. 11 jersey since joining Arsenal in 2013, with Wilshere getting the No. 10 after Van Persie left for United.

Ozil recently took up the No.10 shirt for Germany following Lukas Podolski’s international retirement and now, with Wilshere spending the 2016-17 season at Dean Court, is confident of wearing the same number at the Emirates Stadium.

“For me, the number means a lot,” Ozil told Express about his new Germany number. “It is my favorite number. Football legends such as Zinedine Zidane, Diego Maradona and Pele have this number. I’m really happy about it.

“I wanted to have the number a few years ago, but so did Lukas Podolski and he had played more matches than me. Now I have access!

“Of course, I’ve previously given those in charge a signal. The number is right for me and my position as playmaker.”

When asked if he is going to similar with Wilshere’s shirt number, Ozil replied: “Yes, it has become free and I definitely want it.”

US Open: Kyrgios Retires, Marchenko To Face Wawrinka

Featured Image

Nick Kyrgios retired after playing three sets of his third-round US Open encounter against. Ilya Marchenko.

The Australian star, who is ranked No. 16 in the world retired due to a hip injury he had been nursing since the US Open began.

Kyrgios was behind by two sets to one, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 before ending the match against his Ukrainian opponent.

”My hip was bothering me my first two matches and I got through,” Kyrgios said. ”I guess it was just a matter of time.”

He dealt with a hip problem earlier this season.

”I’ve got to take more time and be more diligent with (the) gym and everything, so this doesn’t happen to me,” said the 21-year-old Australian.

Marchenko did not hide his excitement about what he’s now achieved, exclaiming to the crowd during an on-court interview: ”It’s round of 16! Oh, my God!”

He will face two-time major champion and No. 3 seed Stan Wawrinka next.

”I played him this year already. He killed me completely, outplayed me in everything,” said Marchenko, who lost 6-3, 6-2 to Wawrinka on a hard court at Indian Wells, California, in March.

Stop Using Phones In Church – Catholic Archbishop

Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins, has urged all Christians to cease from the use of phones in places of worship, adding that it is a sign of disrespect to God.

Speaking at the dedication of the Catholic Church of Visitation, Festac Town, Lagos on Saturday, the Archbishop said that the introduction of phone technology had made people lose their sense of humility and reverence for God while in Church.

His words: “Some Christians have turned their phones to Holy Bible, reading scriptures, news and researches with their phones during sermons.

“They have turned a positive invention to misplacement of priority; such an act does not show reverence to God and should be banned in places of worship.’’

He lauded the founder of Facebook, Mark Zukerberg, who recently visited the country, saying he displayed humility which should be emulated by users of these technologies.

The bishop also commended the priests and parishioners of the church for their sacrifice and dedication in setting up an edifice for worship within a short period.

“You have all laboured to build a befitting place of worship for God but it does not end there, you must build up your hearts for His comfort and dwelling.

“Then you should make sure you maintain the treasure by reverencing and keeping the structure in good condition,” he said.
