They claim the network tried to “fraudulently extend the terms of Ms. Union’s agreement” by trying to shoot two 10-episode seasons in one.

Union was meant to receive $150,000 per episode for season four and $165,000 per episode for season five, under the initial agreement terms.

The network however feel they’ve done no wrong doing so far.

“While we hold Gabrielle Union in the highest esteem, we feel strongly that we are contractually well within our rights and are committed to reaching a swift and positive resolution in this matter,” a BET Network rep said in a statement.

BBC Dares Buhari, Nass; Plans To Air Aisha Buhari’s Interview

Featured Image

The Hausa Service of the BBC may be on the verge to flout pressure from the Presidency and National Assembly trying to stop it from airing the controversial interview granted to it by the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari.

Daily Trust quoted a source within the Abuja Bureau of the BBC as saying that there was a letter from the Presidency asking the BBC Hausa not to air the interview.

The source, who seemed to know a lot on the matter, also stated that the Speaker of the House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara, tried to informally dissuade the media house from airing the interview.

It was also gathered that the son of Buhari’s powerful nephew, Mamman Daura, have been called to get the BBC not to use the interview.

In the interview granted to the BBC Hausa, Aisha Buhari had said those who worked for the president have been abandoned for those who don’t even have voters card.

The First Lady also expressed fear of rebellion from the fifteen million people who voted her husband.

She said: “This worries us a lot now. Because they believe they are the ones who suffered, but are no where today.

Those who didn’t do anything who don’t even have voters’ cards are the ones in position, doing everything.” “What I am afraid for them is the rebellion of 15 million people.”

It was learnt that some prominent persons in the President Muhammadu Buhari kitchen cabinet have reached out to the BBC not to air the full interview as it is suspected that the First Lady might have said more injurious comments.

However, the source maintained that the British Broadcasting house would not withdraw on its promise to air the interview as an independent media organisation.

The source, who craved anonymity, however, stated that the only condition that can make the service not to air the interview is for the interviewee, Aisha Buhari, to decide against it.

Even in that case her voice recanting what she had said in the interview would be aired.

Therefore, a part of the interview will be aired in the service’s morning broadcast tomorrow. It will be aired in full on its programme, ‘Gane Mini Hanya’, on Saturday.

The comments from his followers apparently showed support for his declaration and the picture as it received more than a thousand likes an hour after it was posted.

However, it remains unclear if this was actually made by the Emir as checks – as at time of filing this report – showed that there was nothing like this on his Instagram account, perhaps it was deleted or hacked.

Toni Kroos Plans To Retire At Real Madrid

Featured Image

Midfielder Toni Kroos says he plans to retire at Real Madrid after signing a new long-term contract extension.

The club announced on Wednesday that the 26-year-old Germany international had agreed a new deal through to 2022, and he faced the media to discuss the development on Thursday.

“My plan is to retire here,” he told reporters at a press conference. “I don’t sign contracts on a whim. It’s a six-year deal and I’m committed to playing each of those six years here.

Four Clubs Intrested In Barcelona’s Aleix Vidal

Featured Image

Four European clubs are interested in Barcelona defender Aleix Vidal, reports

Vidal has struggled to make an impression at the Camp Nou since joining the La Liga champions from Sevilla last year and he has been tipped to leave the club when the transfer window re-opens in January.

According to, Valencia and the Serie A trio of Napoli, Inter and AC Milan would all be willing to offer the full-back a route out of the Camp Nou.

If he does finally end up leaving in January there is already a price on his head: 12 million euros. Barça wouldn’t sell him for less, although they would not rule out a loan move.

Vidal, for the moment, is working hard to convince Luis Enrique to give him a chance to prove himself against Depor, although he’s also clear that if he does continue to be sidelined — he’s been left out of the squad six games running — he will have to look for a solution.

“Coutinho Not For Sale” – Liverpool

Featured Image

Liverpool have told Paris Saint-Germain that Philippe Coutinho is not for sale at any price, reports The Sun.

PSG are long-term admirers of the Brazilian and have been trying to lure him away from Anfield for months.

However, Coutinho’s impressive start to the season – which has yielded four goals in eight appearances – means Liverpool have no intention of letting the 24-year-old leave.

The Sun claim PSG have a £22.5m offer for Coutinho rejected this summer, but with new boss Unai Emery at the helm, the Ligue 1 champions are willing to table a new offer.

PSG remain keen on the former Inter Milan man, who joined Liverpool for £8.5m in 2013.

But an exit is not on the cards for Coutinho, and recent reports have even suggested he will be offered a new long-term deal to fend off PSG’s interest.

Coutinho only signed a contract extension 18 months ago, but his importance to the side is set to make Liverpool act again.

With the international break now over, Klopp will need Coutinho to continue his form against rivals Manchester United on Monday (8pm) at Anfield.

The online media houses said a top government official, who declined to be named, informed them of the release.

In an exclusive report by Sahara Reporters – also confirmed by the BBC and CNN – the government official informed that the girls were picked up by a military helicopter after their release.

“I can confirm to you that there is a major activity going on in the Banki axis. For now, that is what I can tell you,” the source said.

The federal government also confirmed the release in a series of tweets on Twitter.

Mallam Garba Shehu, spokesman for the Nigerian President, said the girls are in the custody of the Directorate of Social Services.

The release of the 21 girls comes as President Buhari prepares to embark on a three-day trip to Germany to discuss assistance for the rebuilding of the northeastern part of Nigeria ravaged by Boko Haram.

Dozens are still missing, and their whereabouts remain a mystery, but are believed to be somewhere in the forest.

Al Jazeera Highlight: Femi Oke Presents ‘Faultlines – The Lives Of Black Women’

Featured Image

“In the US, black women are being killed by police at a rate of one a month,” says presenter Femi Oke in The Lives of Black Women, an upcoming Faultlines documentary on Al Jazeera. “One in four are unarmed. Their stories have often gone untold.”

p class=”m_-1634231025630138320m_3958637296512934467normal”>In The Lives of Black Women, the former Nigerian media personality of the year explores the stories of 22-year-old Rekia Boyd and 55-year-old Bettie Jones, a mother of five and grandmother of nine. Police shot and killed both women in Chicago.

Boyd was unarmed when she was shot dead by off-duty cop Dante Servin. Servin had called 911 to complain about the noise Boyd’s friends were making, then confronted the group at around 1am, firing five shots. One of these hit Boyd in the head, killing her. Servin was acquitted after claiming that one of Boyd’s friends had pointed a gun at him. Police never recovered the gun Servin says he saw.

On the day after Christmas, Jones was shot in the doorway of her own home, after opening the door for police who were responding to a domestic dispute in the apartment above. Officer Robert Rialmo says Quintonio Legrier, Jones’ 19-year-old upstairs neighbour, swung a baseball bat at his head, so he shot him in self-defense, and killed Jones by accident.

The movement known as “Black Lives Matter” continues to call for police accountability as a rising number of shootings of unarmed people of color has roiled Ferguson, New York, Cleveland, Baltimore, and other cities across the U.S. The names of the victims are now part of the national consciousness: Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Freddie Gray…

But the names of unarmed black women like Rekia Boyd and Bettie Jones are less well-known. “They don’t talk about women that much when they get killed by the police,” says Martinez Sutton, Boyd’s older brother. “They barely talk about women. Why is that? It’s crazy because you see that even in death, women play the second role.”

The Lives of Black Women screens on Faultlines on Al Jazeera next Tuesday, 18 October 2016 at 2330 WAT / 2230 GMT.

JAMB Inconsequential Grading Policy [Must Read]

On JAMB’s Inconsequential Grading Policy – Oluwole Olurunfemi

The popular saying goes: youths are tomorrow’s leaders. There are great expectations for the hope of a better future are on the youth. This has prompted many parents to work very hard to educate their children to make them have better lives in the future. Taking a good look at our education system, there has been so many polices, which has eroded quality in the sector.

This piece was written by Oluwole Olorunfemi and first published on The Nation Newspaper. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of

Compared with some countries in Africa, our educational sector seems to be lagging behind in many ways. The challenges majority of students face yearly, especially when writing important examinations, such as the ones organised by West African Examination Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO) and Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), is nothing to write home about.

There have been a lot of cases of fraud and examination malpractices. Miracle centres has taken over the space and many students no longer read for exams. Some students are faced with the issue of fake admission in the university; some realised earlier, while some get to know late.

There have been concerns over the quality of graduates being produced by our institutions. Many graduates finished with ‘good results’ but cannot defend their grades. Lecture rooms are not adequate to cater for students, leaving lecturers to be absent at lectures and give out handouts.

Recently, JAMB came out with a new policy which is its official grading system for 2016/2017 session based on point. JAMB has a grade point for every score for candidates, which ranges from 180 to 400 and the grading scores also range from 20 to 60 points. JAMB allocated points to O’level results according to the candidates’ grades in either of WAEC or NECO. It is 10 points. But if it is combined results, it is two points.

JAMB went ahead to allocate points to each grades, which ranges from A to C. It is six to three points for each grade. JAMB, NECO and WAEC are different bodies, but why will points be allocated to O’Level results. If JAMB has decided not to use post-United Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in giving admission to candidate, it is fine. But, many may not buy the idea of allocating points and marks to examinations it did not conduct.

Before the coming of this new policy, we all knew it is not all candidates that would be lucky to pass their ‘O’Level in a single sitting. I dare say majority of the candidates that are being offered admission use combined results.

Has JAMB looked into a situation where majority of those who sit for ‘O’Level examination perform woefully in Mathematics and English Language, and have to combine or sit for the papers they did not make? Are we saying this set of students would be given two points for combined result? This is not fair. What would be the fate of the students that fall into this category?

JAMB should have graded every candidate according to his ability, which is the normal score they deserve. This will not discourage candidates who combine of O’Level result. This grading method would frustrate the efforts of candidates seeking for admission in higher institutions. It is making the whole process to look like a lottery, rather than an examination.

If review of the policy is not done, it will continue to worsen the already bad situation in our education system. It might get to a point that our so-called future leaders would pay less attention to education.

Ultimately, this would have negative effects on the future of our dear future leaders.  This is a clarion call on JAMB to rescind the grading policy. Future of many youths is at stake.

Now that President Muhammadu Buhari has relieved Prof Dibu Ojerinde of his duty and admission lists being withdrawn, we don’t know what will become of this policy under the leadership of Prof Ishaq Oloyede, but let us hope that a holistic review would be done as quickly as possible.

RIP: Willian Confirms Death Of Mother

Featured Image

Chelsea midfielder Willian has announced the passing of his mother, after losing her battle with cancer, despite surgery and chemotherapy treatments.

The midfielder stated his mother was fighting the terminal disease back in September and was being treated in Brazil.

The Brazil international is back in London and could play against Leicester on Saturday, after scoring in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Venezuela.

No céu é o seu lugar
Onde estará você agora
Onde é que você mora
Deixou tanta saudade
Depois que daqui foi embora

Pergunto por perguntar
Pois tenho tanta certeza
É no céu que você está
Pois perto de Jesus Cristo
Com certeza é o seu lugar.

Pois para você ser santa
Não precisa canonizar
Basta ser a mãe que foi
Para se santificar.

Não pense que estou magoado
Pelos castigos a mim dados
Pois entre a mãe e o filho
Sempre tudo é perdoado.

Pode acreditar que estou bem
Pois entre o castigo e o carinho
Você fez com que eu seguisse
Com certeza um bom caminho.

Sinto muito sua falta
isso é verdade
Mas ainda me conformo
Pois iremos viver juntos
Por toda eternidade.

Continuo aqui na terra
Aos seus ensinos ser fiel
Para que possa como você
Também ter o Reino do céu.

Aí então nos encontraremos
Já desprendidos da terra
Para então participar
Da sonhada vida eterna.
#minhaguerreira #minharainha #teamoeternamente #saudades #luto 😭🙏🏾🙌🏾 ❤️😘

In his last Premier League game against Hull City, Willian told Chelsea TV that his breakthrough goal was dedicated to his sick mother as he did his trademark pointing to the sky celebration after initially cheering with his teammates.
