Southampton And Arsenal Interested in 19-year-old Ivory Coast Midfielder Franck Kessie

Southampton boss Claude Puel has set his sights set on a January move for Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie, according to the Daily Mirror.

The highly-rated 19-year-old has also attracted the attention of Schalke, Monaco, Napoli and Juventus after impressing for his club.

Ivory Coast international Kessie has played nine times for his club in Serie A this season, scoring four times.

The teenager has previously been the subject of interest from Arsenal, with his agent confirming the Gunners’ interest in April this year.

George Atangana told The Sun: “Arsenal have sent scouts to watch him twice.

“All the big clubs in Italy rate him and he’s got a lot of foreign interest as well.”

It was reported that Sunderland almost signed Kessie during the summer only for a work permit issue to prevent the switch.

Sunderland Midfielder Seb Larsson Admits It Would Be Embarrassing For The Club To Sack David Moyes

Featured Image

Sunderland midfielder Seb Larsson says it would be ’embarrassing’ if the club appointed an eighth manager in just five years.

‘If you’re asking me do I want the manager to stay then the answer is yes, without a doubt,’ said the Sweden international.

‘To be brutally honest, I would be embarrassed if another manager had to go during my time here.

‘Without using it as an excuse, it has been hard while I have been here, the amount of times we’ve had to start over.

‘Ultimately though, it comes back to us as players and if we perform well on the pitch, managers aren’t going to go.

‘It’s happened far too often and we need to sort this out with the group we’ve got now. That’s the bottom line.

‘I don’t even know how many managers there’s been since I’ve been here but obviously every time the manager changes, there is a wider change and you find yourself building again.’

Rangers Lift Joey Barton’s Suspension… But He Has To Train With Under-20s

Featured Image

Joey Barton will be made to train with Rangers’ youth teams after he was told to report back to the club’s training base.

Having not played for Rangers since they were beaten 5-1 by Celtic in September, Joey Barton’s future Ibrox looked doubt following alleged training ground altercations and betting infringements.

However, after the latest twist in his turbulent career, it would appear Barton’s immediate future lies with the Scottish Premiership club.

“Joey Barton has been told he will return to full-time training following the conclusion of a disciplinary procedure,” a Rangers statement read.

“The Auchenhowie management team will inform the player of appropriate training arrangements to which he must adhere for as long as he remains a Rangers player.

“Neither the Club nor the player will comment further.”

Barton will be subject to a disciplinary hearing by the Scottish FA on 17 November after being charged with placing 44 bets on matches, as is banned under the governing body’s rules.

Meanwhile Warburton has been dealt an injury blow with confirmation that another of his marquee pre-season signings, Niko Kranjcar, will be out of action for six months. The Croatian midfielder damaged knee ligaments in training.

Joe Allen Credits Two Liverpool Players For His Good Form

Featured Image

Joe Allen has put his excellent early season form down to learning from Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana during his time at Anfield.

The Welshman made a £13m move to Stoke City in the summer after he found game time hard to come by under Jurgen Klopp.

Playing with the likes of Coutinho and Lallana at Liverpool, along with Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey at international level, the Wales international said it was vital to learn from them.

“It’s natural for any player to do that,” he said of learning from them.

“With Wales you’ve got the likes of Gaz and Aaron and there is so much you can learn from them, but also the players I was fortunate enough to play with at Liverpool.

“Players like Coutinho and Lallana have played in a similar sort of role to the one I’m playing now – you try to pick up a thing or two from them and that’s what I’ve tried to do.”

At Liverpool Allen was utilised at the base of the midfield. Since his move to Stoke, the 26-year-old is being deployed in a more advanced position and is reaping the rewards for the Potters. He has netted four times in the last five games and has two assists this season.

He was brought to Anfield by Brendan Rodgers, his former manager at Swansea City, who hailed him as “the Welsh Xavi”.

Failing to live up to the big billing that the Northern Irishman gave him, Allen fell behind the wealth of talent in midfield.

Klopp’s men are showing terrific form this season, much like Allen, but the midfielder decided the time was right to make the move away from Merseyside.

“I enjoyed my time at Liverpool and learned so much but it was time to move on,” he added.

“There is so much quality in a team like that and you have to find a new challenge.

“I was excited about coming to a club like Stoke and staking a claim for a place but I was confident I had a lot to bring to this team and I could be an important player for them.

“I think that makes all the difference to you when you’re maybe given a bit more responsibility and licence to express yourself a bit more.”

“If he stays with us he becomes one more option. At this moment we have no problems in midfield but whenever you have problems he will be another option.

“It’s a human decision based on training numbers and methods but it is also a decision that can turn out be positive for the group. It’s a good decision for us and good decision for him.”

Four Real Madrid Players Expected To Sign New Contracts Next Week

Featured Image

Real Madrid are hoping to tie four players down to new contracts in the next two weeks, according to Marca.

Several Real Madrid players – namely Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Lucas Vazquez and Gareth Bale – have been handed new contracts over the last few weeks and the European champions are working to tie down four more members of the squad.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s new contract, which is likely to keep him at the Bernabeu until 2020, will be finalised once the last few details have been sorted out.

Pepe is discussing the length of his proposed new contract at Real Madrid, with the 33-year-old’s current deal set to expire in June.

Spurs target Isco has already received a contract proposal from the club and could be the next player to put pen to paper.

Dani Carvajal, meanwhile, is likely to be handed a two-year contract extension which will bound him to Real Madrid until 2022.

Raheem Sterling Explains Why He Had To Quit Liverpool

Featured Image

Raheem Sterling has revealed he left Liverpool to develop his career with the “best” players at Manchester City.

The England winger came in for some criticism when he moved to the Etihad in 2015.

But he told FourFourTwo: “It was just about the players that were here. I could name 10 or 11 who have played at the highest level – people like Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Yaya Toure.

“For me to develop my game I’ve got to be playing with the best and that’s why I came here.

“When I found out that they were interested in signing me, there were no second thoughts.”

“I want to be fighting for trophies for the next 10 years, and there’s no better place to do that than here.”

Sterling has enjoyed an impressive start to the season under new manager Pep Guardiola, scoring five goals.

But he made a slow start to life at the Etihad and the 21-year-old put last season’s mixed form down to his need to adjust to new surroundings.

“It all came so thick and fast last year that I didn’t get much thinking time to myself,” he said.

“When you sign, you’ve got to move house, adjust to the city – there was just a lot going on. But i’m not making excuses.”

“This is the job I signed up for and it’s the job that I love the most. Maybe last year was a difficult time, but that’s all in the past.”

Sunderland Not Prepared To Sack David Moyes Yet

Featured Image

Sunderland have apparently dismissed a report claiming David Moyes could be sacked if the Black Cats do not beat Bournemouth this weekend.

The Daily Mirror suggested Sunderland owner Ellis Short is running out of patience after a poor start to the season.

However, the Sunderland Echo say “there is no foundation in the story” and they understand “Moyes is in no imminent danger”.

Moyes will be given time to improve matters on the pitch and, contrary to reports, he will not be sacked if they fail to beat Bournemouth on Saturday, a match during which he will serve a one-game touchline ban after admitting an FA charge of misconduct for swearing at a fourth official.

The 53-year-old has overseen the worst 10-game start in Premier League history and the Black Cats are already eight points adrift of safety.

Moyes admits his squad is way short of the quality needed to avoid a relegation scrap and he has already forecast a season-long struggle against the drop.

His only hope now is that they at least make a fight of it and he remains in the job long enough to rebuild the club, both on and off the pitch.

Pepe’s Contract Talks With Real Madrid Nearing Approval

Featured Image

Pepe is apparently close to signing a new contract with Real Madrid.

Radio MARCA say talks are going well and Pepe is set to follow the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in penning a new deal.

Talks are said to be progressing well between the defender and Los Blancos officials, and a two-year renewal with the option of a further season appears to suit all parties.

Real Madrid’s aim is clear; to secure a number of their key individuals to extended contracts, and with that in mind, Cristiano Ronaldo, Isco and Dani Carvajal are the other names in line to receive improved terms in the coming months.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos State by the board’s Head of Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the exam body stated that it would no longer use scratch cards.

The statement read: “Candidates, wishing to sit for the 2017 examination, should start getting themselves familiar with the newly adopted process of pin vending by the board.

“We must make ourselves open to change like it is obtained in other climes.

“We are no longer going back to the use of scratch card; that method is outdated.

“In the course of the examination, should there be any other new challenges, we will act promptly.’’

English Championship Is A “Brainless” League -Stale Solbakken

Featured Image

Stale Solbakken is not a fan of the Championship.

The FC Copenhagen boss spent six months in charge at Wolves in 2012/13 and, judging by comments made ahead of the Champions League match with Leicester tonight, he does not fancy returning.

“If you are so stupid to take a job there then you have to take the blame. I wouldn’t have done it again,” he said.

“It’s a difficult league to manage in. When the crowd are managing many of the games, they want to see chances.
“I have seen so many brainless Championship games, both live and on the bench.”

The Norwegian took charge of just 30 games before being axed in January 2013 but believes his time at Molineux now looks nowhere near as bad in retrospect.

“I think I managed there for longer than the last four bosses. I am getting better and better every week, maybe I wasn’t that bad at all!” joked Solbakken, who is now boss of FC Copenhagen.

His successor at Molineux, Dean Saunders, lasted just 20 games, while Wolves are searching for another new boss following Walter Zenga’s dismissal last week, after just 17 games in charge..

Featured Image

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been named in Manchester United’s 21-man squad for Thursday’s Europa League group game at Fenerbahce along with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney, plus Phil Jones, who has just recovered from injury.

Mkhitaryan has played just four times since making the £26million switch from Dortmund but is flying out with United’s squad to face the Turkish giants as they look to get back to winning ways.

United are second to Feyenoord in Group A, with each club on six points. Fenerbahce, who United beat 4-1 a fortnight ago in the reverse game, are third on four points, with Zorya Luhansk bottom, with one.

Pelicans 0-4 Start Is Frustrating Anthony Davis

Featured Image

The New Orleans Pelicans are having quite a poor start to the season, which is in contrast to Anthony Davis’s fine start to the season.

The Pelicans are 0-4 overall and 0-3 at home so far this season after losing to the Milwaukee Bucks.

And the New Orleans Pelicans superstar has admitted he is starting to get frustrated with losing.

“Definitely frustrating,” Davis said after Tuesday’s 117-113 defeat. “We can’t get a win. It’s frustrating.”

Davis finished with 35 points and 12 rebounds in the loss, pushing his season averages to 37 points and 13 rebounds per game, both career highs.

The 23-year-old’s 148 total points are the most in NBA history through the first four games of the season by a player whose team lost all of those games, according to ESPN Stats and Information research.

“I’m frustrated, but I’ve got to find a solution,” Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry said. “I can’t be frustrated to the point of where I throw up my hands and not anything’s going on. It’s my job. That’s why they hired me here. I’ve got to find a solution to our problems. I’ve got to find a solution to why we’re turning the ball over. I’ve got to find a solution as to why we can’t go into the game with a defensive plan and stick to it. It’s very frustrating, yeah. But there have got to be solutions.”

He added that it was imperative for the leaders to unite and seek ways of ending the militancy and the sabotage of oil infrastructure in the zone.

The president however stated that anyone who had another country apart from Nigeria was free to leave the country.

“We are determined to make life comfortable and affordable to all Nigerians. If anybody has a country to go to, let him go, we will stay here and salvage our country,” Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, quoted Buhari as saying.

He noted that Buhari had a vision of unity and progress for the country in which peace reigns and said peace, security, investment and prosperity are linked together.

“If we give peace a chance, investors will come here to invest. Nobody will invest in an insecure environment,” the president was said to have also noted.

“Mr Abramovich is an employer and owner who has great passion for football. He wants to know and understand your ideas.

Guus Hiddink Linked With Vacant Inter Milan Job

After sacking Frank de Boer yesterday, could Inter Milan turn to another Dutchman?

Reports in Italy have linked former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink with the role.

Hiddink, who turns 70 next week, is apparently among the contenders along with former Parma and Lazio coach Stefano Pioli.

De Boer paid the price for losing four of his last five Serie A matches, a run that leaves the Nerazzurri down in 12th place and 13 points behind leaders Juventus.

While Inter’s Italian directors are understood to favour former Parma and Lazio coach Stefano Pioli, a report in La Gazzetta dello Sport said the club’s Chinese owners would prefer to hire a manager of international renown, noting how Hiddink’s advisor Kia Joorabchian has links to the Zhang family.

Youth team coach Stefano Vecchi has been handed interim control of the senior side and will be in charge for Thursday’s Europa League trip to Southampton.

Inter host last-placed Crotone in the league on Sunday in their final match before the international break. When they return to domestic action, a derby meeting with AC Milan awaits.
