Suspension! Zlatan Ibrahimovic To Miss Arsenal Clash

Featured Image

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to miss Manchester United’s clash with Arsenal on November 19, after picking up his fifth yellow of the season during Sunday’s match with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

As Jose Mourinho’s men prepare to face Arsene Wenger’s side after the international break at Old Trafford, the news will come as a bitter blow to the Red Devils.

Zlatan could not hide his frustration after he was booked for a late challenge on Leroy Fer.

Sky Sport quoted him as saying: “I thought in England we play rough. No? That’s what I heard. Every time I’ve tried to play rough I get a yellow card.”

“I don’t know why he gave me a yellow card. Maybe I was too tired to hear why, but I sacrifice for the team, and if I need to get a yellow I will take it, I have no problems.”

The striker, who scored twice in United’s 3-1 win over Swansea having gone seven without finding the net, says the goals will come if the chances keep arriving.

He added: “No [I was not worried about the run]. As long as you create the chances, which I have been doing.”

“The most important thing is the win, and the goals will come, as long as you create them, you’re there and you keep focus, the goals will come, I’m not worried about that.

Paul Pogba, who has also come under criticism in recent weeks, opened the scoring with a strike he described as one of the best in his career.

God Blesses Us With Trouble – Femi Aribisala

Featured Image

God Blesses Us With Trouble, By Femi Aribisala

I was at a mid-week service in our fellowship and I was ministering. I was young and green in the Lord, having only met Jesus a few years earlier. For some reason there were more people in attendance on that particular day than usual. Suddenly, I noticed that a lady, Mrs. Bola Osanyinjobi, was fidgety. She seemed uncomfortable with something or with someone.

This piece was written by Femi Aribisala. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of

After a while, she got up and rushed out. I thought no more about it and continued with the service. But soon someone came in, spoke to some people, and three women, including my wife, rushed out. The service continued but some thirty minutes or more later; someone came in again. This time, she walked to me and interrupted the service. “We seem to have a crisis on our hands,” she said. “Mrs. Osanyinjobi had an asthma attack. We’ve done all we could to help her. I am afraid the woman is dead.”

Dead? I could not believe it. Of all places, somebody came to fellowship and died in the middle of a service? What kind of embarrassment was this? The whole congregation practically moved to the room where she was. There I met the ladies who apparently had spent the last thirty minutes trying to revive her and were now resigned to the inevitable.

I knelt down beside this woman’s lifeless body and started to pray. “Father, she will not die but live to declare the works of the Lord in the land of the living. You are the Lord that heals. You took our infirmities and carried away our sicknesses. By your stripes we are healed. You are the Sun of righteousness. Arise with healing in your wings. You are the balm of Gilead. Healing is the children’s bread.”

I went on and on, praying the word. After a while, I became exhausted. I did not know what else to say. I did not know what other scriptures to recite. I was young in ministry, and could not believe this kind of crisis. So I stopped praying and cried to the Lord in my heart.

“Father,” I cried, “I don’t even know what to pray anymore. I don’t know what more scriptures to claim.” And then something happened. Something magical. Something glorious. The Lord spoke. I heard him as clear as a bell. “Femi,” he said, “pray in tongues.”

That solved the problem. Suddenly I calmed down. I realised I was not alone. The Lord was there with me. So I started praying in tongues. I prayed and prayed and prayed. And just as suddenly, something happened again. Out of the blue. Out of nowhere. Mrs. Osanyinjobi sneezed. Then she opened her eyes and sat up. Then I helped her to stand up. And everybody went absolutely crazy with joy.

We went back with her to the service with dancing and singing and shouting and clapping. Mrs. Osanyinjobi herself just sat down calmly in a corner. But the Lord said to me: “Ask her to dance.” So I asked Mrs. Osanyinjobi to join in the dance. And to the amazement of all, there was this woman, who had been given up for dead, dancing with everybody else as though nothing whatsoever had happened.

Kingdom Dynamics

That day, I discovered the nature and character of the ministry that the Lord had given to me. That day, I saw the power of God in a completely different dimension. And from that day, I would never be the same again as a minister of God. The Lord had used a crisis to promote me. The next time I was confronted with a similar incident, and I was, I knew the Lord was able. I got exactly the same result. That is kingdom dynamics.

The beauty of kingdom dynamics is that it confounds all natural expectations. Samson said: “Out of the eater came something to eat, and out of the strong came something sweet.” (Judges 14:14). What was intended to kill him became a source of nourishment for him. What was designed to impede you will simply become your stepping-stone.

The enemy threw a spear at Attila and missed. That spear became his instrument of war. They gave him poison to drink, but the poison healed his disease. They shot a bullet into his breast, but in the attempt to remove the bullet, they detected the early stages of cancer and cured him.

Joseph said to his brothers who had sold him as a slave to Egypt: “You meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.” (Genesis 50:20).

Had they not sold him, he would not have become Prime Minister, and he would not have become the instrument of their salvation from famine.

Reversal of Fortune

Have you ever prayed this kind of prayer before? “Father let something bad happen to him that good may come out of it.” Yes, we pray it for others but hardly ever for ourselves. The good of God only comes after something bad happens. God does not make the good out of the good. He makes the good out of the bad. As a matter of fact, God often has an interest in something becoming very bad in order that it might be very good.

The believer should know that according to kingdom dynamics, God creates success out of failures. He creates life out of death. He creates wealth out of poverty. Remember that everything about the kingdom of God is worked out in contradictions. Thus, the psalmist says: “Let the righteous strike me; it shall be a kindness. And let him rebuke me; it shall be as excellent oil; let my head not refuse it.” (Psalm 141:5).

God brings joy out of sadness. When a man in the world is sad, it is because something bad has happened to him. But when a believer is sad, it is because something good is going to happen to him. Godly sorrow comes not to make men miserable but to wipe away all tears from their eyes. While God does not cause or approve of sin or evil, he limits, restrains and overrules it for good.

God’s Setup

Not one but three enemy nations attacked Judah. What had they done to deserve such calamity? But the combined attack had in it the providential hand of God. The Lord wanted to convert the riches of others to the people of Judah, and he determined that their inheritance should not come from one or two but from three fearsome enemy nations.

After he had caused those nations to accumulate great spoils by conquest, he then allowed them to attack Judah. But Judah did not have to fight. The Lord caused Judah’s adversaries to fight among themselves, and they ended up by destroying each other.

“When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil, they found among them an abundance of valuables on the dead bodies, and precious jewelry, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering the spoil because there was so much.” (2 Chronicles 20:25).

Emre Can : Manchester United Need To Show Schweinsteiger Some Respect

Featured Image

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has accused Manchester United of showing his former German international team-mate Bastian Schweinsteiger a lack of respect.

Schweinsteiger, 32, began the season training with the kids and being cut out of the official team photo.

He said: ‘I know Schweinsteiger very well and I used to play with him. He’s a very good guy and a legend. They don’t have too much respect for him [at Manchester United]. It’s a pity because he’s a very good guy, he’s always somebody who worked hard and is always a gentleman.’

Mourinho reportedly blocked Schweinsteiger from playing for the under-23s to maintain match fitness but the player has won the PR war by refusing to publicly hit back and by being a good presence around the training ground.

That does not surprise 22-year-old Can, who said: ‘I just know one story from me; when I came up to the first team [at Bayern Munich], Bastian Schweinsteiger was the first one who came to me and said, “if you need something, come to me”.

‘It was a big help for me and I’m very thankful for that. I will never forget that.’

Former Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeness has accused United of treating Schweinsteiger like ‘a leper’.

Schweinsteiger won the Champions League with Bayern in 2013 and was man of the match the following year in the World Cup final when Germany defeated Argentina.

Crystal Palace Lining Up Bid For Morgan Schneiderlin

Featured Image

Crystal Palace are lining up an ambitious January bid for Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The 26-year-old is only a third of the way into a four-year deal at Old Trafford, but has played just five minutes of Premier League football under Jose Mourinho this season.

Schneiderlin played under Palace boss Alan Pardew in 2009-10 when he was in charge of Southampton and the Eagles boss is understood to remain keen on the France international.

Schneiderlin, hauled off at half-time in Thursday’s Europa League defeat to Fenerbahce in Istanbul, played under Alan Pardew in 2009-10 when Southampton were a League One club and the Eagles boss remains a fan.

Tottenham had an August move for the player blocked and manager Mauricio Pochettino is sure to retain an interest, having also worked with the Frenchman at St Mary’s.

Schneiderlin cost £25million, but a fee of half that amount could persuade United to do business as Mourinho is keen to shed several players from his squad.

“Ross Barkley Has To Improve” – Rob Draper

Featured Image

Ross Barkley faces a defining 18-month spell of his career at Everton, according to Rob Draper of the Daily Mail.

Speaking on the Sunday Supplement, Draper feels the England international’s diminishing role under Ronald Koeman could ultimately result in him leaving the club.

“Long term I’d be surprised if Barkley was a feature of Ronald Koeman’s team at Everton,” he said.

“You can see Koeman is pushing him and being hard on him, he obviously feels he hasn’t developed and should have developed more than he has.

“He’s not going to ditch him right now because clearly he’s talented and Koeman needs him. I don’t get the feeling Koeman is completely convinced about Barkley.

“I’d be surprised if, in 18 months if Koeman is still manager if Barkley is there. This is such an important 18 months for Ross Barkley’s career. What trajectory will it go on?”

Payet Talks Possible January West Ham Exit

Featured Image

Dimitri Payet was asked if he was considering a January exit from West Ham and he said “he is not closing the door to anything”.

The midfielder was outstanding in his first season with West Ham, helping them to seventh on the table and taking France to the final of the Euro 2016 on home soil.

However, since moving to the London Stadium, West Ham have struggled in all competitions. They have won just three of 11 EPL matches and failed to qualify for the group stages of the Europa league.

This has led to speculations on whether the 29-year-old playmaker will switch to a better club to compete for major honours. And in a recent interview, he was asked directly if he was considering an exit in January.

“I’m asking myself other questions, I have ambition, but I’m not closing the door to anything,” he told Telefoot.

“It’s always the sports project that interests me. For now, PSG [Paris Saint-Germain] and OM [Marseille] did not come to me [with an offer].”

Of the Hammers’ poor opening to 2016-17, he added: “It was a very bad start with West Ham, we’re trying to get into the top half of the table.”

Paris Saint-Germain Still Hoping To Sign Sergio Aguero

Paris Saint-Germain have made a move to lure Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero to the French capital, according to the Sunday Express.

The Ligue 1 champions are desperate to fill the void left by Zlatan Ibrahimovic following his summer switch to Manchester United.

The Express claim PSG are keen on Aguero, who. looks set to be off-loaded by Pep Guardiola as part of his planned clear-out at the Etihad Stadium.

PSG are keen to get ahead of any other clubs by apparently instructing an intermediary to start looking into a potential deal.

The report also suggests Real Madrid are showing an interest in the player ahead of their upcoming FIFA transfer ban, while PSG see Aguero as a more realistic signing than Antoine Griezmann – who they are also thought to be monitoring.

Aguero has scored 14 goals in 15 games in all competitions this season, including City’s only goal in a 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Rennes will consider making a move for Real Madrid teenager Martin Odegaard in January.

The Ligue 1 outfit were in the hunt to sign the Norwegian during the summer transfer window but he ended up staying put in the Spanish capital.

Madrid don’t want to let the promising young Scandinavian talent go altogether, especially considering the fact that their appeal over the sanction imposed on them by FIFA – which could bar them from signing players for two transfer windows – is still pending.

Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre, who is an advisor to Rennes president Rene Ruello, says the French club have not forgotten about Odegaard and could try to sign him in January.

Ronaldo Agrees To Sign New Contract With Real Madrid

Featured Image

Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo have reached an agreement over the Portugal star’s contract renewal, reports AS.

The two parties have been working on a new deal for several months and, according to AS, they have agreed to extend the forward’s stay at the Bernabeu from 2018 to 2021.

Madrid are expected to officially announce the agreement in the next few hours, with the club planning to hold a contract renewal presentation at the Bernabeu on Monday.

Ronaldo earns around £365,000-a-week and neither that nor his billion euro buy-out clause will show any considerable change. But the length of his new deal still shows a major commitment from the club.

He endured his worst start to a season during this campaign but the club’s record goalscorer with 371 goals in 359 games has said many times he wants to finish his career in the Spanish capital and the club have given him what he wants.

Sources in Madrid say the club may yet make the final year of the new deal optional with both sides needing to agree on it before the start of the 2020-21 season but even a four plus one year deal would be a massive statement of intent with a player of Ronaldo’s age.

He signed his first Madrid contract in 2009 when he joined the club from Manchester United.

He has since won two European Cups but still only one league title in six years.

Everton Interested In Signing Bastian Schweinsteiger

Featured Image

Everton boss Ronald Koeman wants to sign Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger in January, reports the Star on Sunday.

The Toffees boss will mull over a move for the World Cup winner when the transfer window opens, with a potential loan until the end of the season on the cards.

Should it materialise, a move to Goodison Park would offer Schweinsteiger a route of Old Trafford, where he was cast out of Jose Mourinho’s first-team squad.

The 32-year-old is yet to feature for the Portuguese following his summer appointment, although he has been brought back to train with the first-team in recent weeks.

Everton are looking to bolster their midfield department, and could make a loan move for the German international.

United are said to be willing to pay half of Schweinsteiger’s current wages, to move him on.

Arsenal Enter Race To Sign Jose Gimenez

Featured Image

Arsenal have entered the race to sign £54m-rated Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez, according to the Sun on Sunday.

The 21-year-old, linked with a move to Manchester United, is believed to be on Arsene Wenger’s wishlist for defensive reinforcements.

Arsenal are building their Premier League title challenge with Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny at the heart of his defence.

But German international defender Per Mertesacker has had knee trouble while Brazilian Gabriel Paulista has fallen down the pecking order. That leaves just former Bolton trainee Rob Holding as cover.

Real Madrid are understood to have kept a close eye on Gimenez since he moved to the Vicente Calderon in 2013.

The Uruguay international has 20 months left to run on his current Atletico contract, which has a £54m release clause.

The two London clubs head into the intense premier league match with a gulf in form despite being separated by just three points on the table.

Arsenal who are third on the table with a game in hand are on a 15-game unbeaten run in all competitions, while Spurs, sitting fifth on the table are without a win in their last six games.

And despite being a pundit for BBC and BT Sport, Wright has opted against showing neutrality and instead expressed his desire to see Arsenal not just beat Spurs, but do so by a wide margin.

Pochettino: Spurs Are Not On The Same Level With Arsenal

Wright told The Sun: “I really want them to hammer Spurs and absolutely smash them!

“Arsenal have goals in their team — they are feeling confident and flying.

“Top players like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are in inspirational form. There are goals everywhere in the team.

“And because Vincent Janssen hasn’t been scoring for Tottenham, it doesn’t give Harry Kane the time to stay on the sidelines and get himself right.

“The pressure will be on Kane when he comes back because the team need to start scoring goals.”

Pochettino: Spurs Are Not On The Same Level With Arsenal

Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino is not getting ahead of himself and believes it’ll be wrong to compare his side to an Arsenal side that has enjoyed stability over two decades under Arsene Wenger.

Tottenham visit the Emirates ststadiumin the first North London derby of the season, a month after Wenger celebrated his 20th season at the helm of the club.

Pochettino has transformed Tottenham since his appointment in 2014, leading an unlikely title charge last season and they remain the only unbeaten side in the top flight in the 2016-17 season.

But the former Argentina defender says that the ongoing work to rebuild both Spurs’ stadium and the squad itself means trying to draw comparisons with their fierce rivals is futile.

“Arsenal, after 20 years of Arsene Wenger, are one of the most consistent clubs in the world. It’s difficult to compare us with Arsenal,” he said.

“We want to be one of the best but we’re still building the training ground, the new stadium and our squad. But you put that away when you compete. We need to be aggressive and try to play better than them.”

Spurs’ 1-0 Champions League defeat to Bayer Leverkusen at Wembley on Wednesday means they are without a win in six games in all competitions since beating Manchester City 2-0.

“We’re not in a positive situation, we’ve struggled to win games after beating Manchester City,” Pochettino said. “We need to work hard and try more than before because we’re in a difficult moment.

“You need to be ready to change the dynamic and we have a very good opportunity on Sunday.

“It will be an exciting game for us and for them, too. It will be tough for both teams. It’s a big challenge for them to beat us and for us to win.

“I was very disappointed with the performance on Wednesday. We know we were poor and we cannot play that way against Arsenal. But it’s a completely different competition and it will be a completely different game.”

Gary Neville Joined Valencia At The Wrong Time ” – Alvaro Negredo

Gary Neville’s appointment at Valencia came “at the worst moment”, according to former Los Che striker Alvaro Negredo.

Neville’s brief spell at the Mestalla ending in his sacking after just days, with the La Liga club left in turmoil both on and off the pitch.

“I think he came in the worst moment,” Middlesbrough striker Negredo told ESPN. “It was a very difficult situation; very tense with the supporters, with the technical staff … the criticism of the club was at its height.

“The results didn’t go in our favour and it’s a pity, because he was a great guy and treated us very well.

“What happened was, some team-mates didn’t understand English, and a translator saying it just isn’t the same as a manager saying it.

“You don’t feel it in the same way. And, well, through the language, and the pressure that was there, there wasn’t much time … it was difficult.”

Newcastle United are the latest club to have expressed an interest in Dundalk winger Daryl Horgan, according to the Irish Independent.

Championship clubs Aston Villa, Ipswich, Reading and Preston are reportedly sending scouts to watch the 24-year-old in action in the FAI Cup final.

Three MLS clubs have also been linked with Horgan, but Toon boss Rafa Benitez host to fend of the competition by bringing him to St James’ Park.

Horgan could use the Cup final against Cork City to cap off the biggest week of his career which saw him land the Players’ Player of the Year award, earn a call-up to the senior Ireland squad and also score his first goal at European level, in Thursday’s 2-1 loss to Zenit in Russia.

Horgan is keen to add a Cup medal to his collection but a number of scouts are headed for the Aviva where Horgan and Dundalk team-mate Andy Boyle will be watched, along with Cork’s Sean Maguire and Kevin O’Connor.
Newcastle, riding high in the Championship, have already studied Horgan but Villa and Preston are also in the hunt for Horgan, who is also wanted in the USA.

Boss Stephen Kenny was today preparing his players for their second big game in just four days, after that big effort in St Petersburg. “We’ve got to dust ourselves down and find the energy to find it from wherever,” said Kenny. “To be cup champions again, to do the double double, we’ve got to find the energy.”
