Featured Image

Residents of Ilupewo community, Ado-Odo-Otta Local Government area of Ogun State have been urged by the Comissioner of Police for the State, Ahmed Iliyasu to remain calm after they reportedly received a letter from suspected armed robbers about an impending visit.

The letters were posted on the house doors and gates informing residents in the community to keep Christmas gifts for them as they would be visiting soon. Some of the residents have abandoned their homes following the letter while most that remain have been living in fear.

According to reports, the residents woke up to discover several of such letters posted to their doorposts on Wednesday, telling them that the robbers were coming for the operation because of the coming Christmas and New Year festivities.

The letter which had the following incomplete phone numbers – 0702288949, 080449930, stressed that they (the robbers) didn’t want to hear excuses from residents over non-availability of money at home.

The said letter was typed in Yoruba language, and introduced the robbers as ‘Strong men of the road that own the night,’ urged the community residents to ensure they keep money at home always. They also vowed to deal mercilessly with any resident who claims he does not have money as advanced notice had already been given to prepare them.

However, in a statement released on Thursday, the Comissioner of Police assured the residents that the police was working effortlessly to stop the planned robbery.

He stated that about 60 houses had the letters posted at their door and that the residents reported the matter at the Sango Police Station. He also called on the residents to remain calm as the security operatives were up to task in dealing with the criminals.

“We are on top of the situation and security has been beefed up in the community,” the CP stated.

Alex Iwobi Not Intrested In Leaving Arsenal, Declares His Father

Featured Image

Alex Iwobi’s father says his son, Alex Iwobi has no plans to leave the Emirates.

The 20-year-old has come up through the ranks with the Gunners and has impressed with the first team this season.

His father, Chuka Iwobi, told “At this point in time, he is at the right place.

“He’s doing well at Arsenal, but should any club come for him now, the answer would certainly be no.

“For him now, it’s not about the money. So, should a club like Barcelona come with more money, he will certainly stay back at Arsenal because now it is not about him making money, it’s about him concentrating on his career, progressing and going on to the next stage.”

‘He has broken into the first team and what they all talk about is his humility. Personally, that’s very important because when a player starts getting arrogant that’s when the player fails.

‘I see him being with Arsenal for very many, many years.’

David Moyes Explains Why He Rejected Chance To Sign Joe Hart

Featured Image

Sunderland manager David Moyes says he turned down the chance to sign Joe Hart in the summer.

Hart was linked with the Black Cats before leaving Manchester City to join Torino on loan.

“I could have brought in Joe Hart, we thought he would have been ideal for us,” Moyes told the Shields Gazette. “But I had to think of Jordan’s [Pickford’s] progression too and he hasn’t let us down.

“When I arrived, Vito Mannone was probably the number one on experience but his injury meant we needed to turn to Jordan and he has stood up to all we’ve asked of him.”

“Hopefully he will become England’s No 1 for the future, I don’t see why not,” he added.

“He has the attributes and if he keeps his attitude of working hard, he won’t go far wrong.”

Moyes believes England will have no worries should Pickford be called into action over the next two games.

‘The experience of being with those level of players will only improve him. The speed of passing, the power of the shooting and the accuracy, it’s the defining quality of international players and a step up for Jordan but one he can handle.

the Scot joked: ‘He’s nothing to worry about, in fact I’ll give him a new contract if he throws one in against Scotland…’

Florentino Perez To Make Paulo Dybala His Next ‘Galactico’ Signining

Featured Image

Real president Florentino Perez has lined up Juventus forward Paulo Dybala as his next ‘Galactico’ signing, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Los Blancos are subject to a FIFA transfer ban, but will try to land Dybala once the sanction has been lifted.

Madrid president Perez believes Dybala, who turns 23 next week, is the only player in the world outside of his current squad who can help his side compete with Barcelona’s ‘MSN’ front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Dybala is considering leaving Juventus at the end of the season.

Barca have held an interest in the Argentinian before, while Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd are all keen on him too.

Perez feels signing Dybala will be a response to Barcelona signing Neymar. Dybala, a fan of Lionel Messi, wanted to play at Camp Nou, but the Blaugrana have previously decided not to go big for him and he could end up at the Bernabeu instead.

Oliver Torres Not Thinking About Atletico Madrid Return

Featured Image

Oliver Torres is focused on Porto and not thinking about a possible return to parent club Atletico Madrid.

The highly-rated midfielder has impressed on loan in Portugal this season and is currently on international duty with Spain U21s.

He told Onda Cero: “I’m not thinking about a return right now. I don’t know what will happen.

“I’m very happy at FC Porto. I’m only thinking about learning, growing as a player and enjoying this experience.”

“Whatever has to happen will happen.”

FC Porto have an option to buy Torres for €20 million once his loan deal expires in December 2017.

Torres, who is under contract with Atletico until June 2018, started in just 14 games in all competitions for Atletico in the 2015-16 campaign and left the Rojiblancos this summer in search of more playing time.

“It’s not easy to succeed in La Liga when you are young,” Torres said. “Each player has his progression, his time.

“I have to continue to grow and gain experience.”

He returned to Porto for a second spell on loan having enjoyed a strong 2014-15 with the Portuguese giants, starting 28 games for them to help the Dragoes finish runners-up behind Benfica in the Primeira Liga.

Coleman: Ramsey Can Make It In Any Team

Featured Image

Arsenal and Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey will succeed in any team according to Wales boss, Chris Coleman.

The 25-year-old has not played for his country since the quarterfinal win over Belgium at the Euro 2016, but will feature against Serbia on Saturday.

And despite Bale being the main man for Wales and Coleman, the manager insists Ramsey has the ability to play for any club he wants.

“Because I’ve seen him up close, in a tournament, I’ve seen the level he’s at, he could play for anybody,” said Coleman.

“There’s not a team on the planet he couldn’t play for when he’s at his best.

“That’s not a biased opinion because I’m a Welshman and we all love Rambo – I’m looking at it clinically.

“Playing in a tournament against the top teams, he was head and shoulders above. He could play for anyone.”

Ramsey has been a big miss for Wales during his absence through a hamstring injury as his side slipped two points behind Group D leaders Serbia.

“We were without him for the first three games and it was a blow for us that – it would be a blow for anyone,” Coleman continued.

“It was disappointing and frustrating. You have to say, without Aaron Ramsey, take him out of any team and it’s a loss. So it’s nice to have him back.

“He’s not played too much football for Arsenal, of course, but he’s going to start the game as we sit here now.

“However long he’ll last – physically we don’t know, but we do know he’s generally probably one of the fittest players playing football.”

Wales face Serbia for the first time since playing them twice in 2014 World Cup qualifying, where they were thrashed 6-1 away and 3-0 at home.

Mikel To Decide Chelsea Future In January

Featured Image

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel will decide his future plans in January after failing to make an appearance in the Premier League under manager Antonio Conte.

“We will wait and see what happens in January,” Mikel said.

“For the first time in my career, this is happening to me and I have to stand up and deal with it. It is what it is but I’m training hard every day and always wish the team the best and I am happy we are doing well.

“Managers come and go. Players come and go.”

The 29-year-old midfielder has been at Stamford Bridge since 2006, and featured in 23 Premier League games last campaign.

His inactivity has angered Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr, who says the lack of playing time is due to his participation in Brazil this summer.

“He is being punished for deciding to go to the Olympics for Nigeria,” Rohr told ESPN. “He is training and doing well for us. I cannot punish him for deciding to make a sacrifice for Nigeria.

“I’ve been at Chelsea a long time and these things happen in football. So we will have to make that decision when January comes.”

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink ‘Unhappy’  After QPR Sack

Featured Image

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says he is disappointed by his QPR sacking, with the club “on course to achieve our targets”.

The former Chelsea striker was dismissed after less than a year in charge at Loftus Road last week with the Sky Bet Championship side lying in 17th position.

Hasselbaink, who guided Burton Albion to promotion from League Two before taking over at QPR, has released a statement thanking the club for his time there but admits he felt he had unfinished business.

The Dutchman has also revealed his career intentions following his dismissal, insisting his experiences will benefit him in the future.

‘Managing Queens Park Rangers was a true privilege and a big opportunity for me as a coach,’ he said.

‘Whilst I am extremely disappointed that my time as manager of QPR has come to an end, as I still believe we were on course to achieve our targets, I am grateful for the opportunity given to me by the board.

‘The club is in a transitional phase. A lot of players left last summer and were replaced by new players, who still need time to settle in.

‘When I joined the club last season, I was excited by the project and the ambition the club has to one day return to the Premier League. I wish them all the best with achieving this goal.

‘I would like to thank the players for their efforts. It was a pleasure to work with them and I wish them luck for the remainder of the season and their future careers.

‘I would also like to thank my staff for their hard work and commitment throughout my time at the club.

‘And finally, thanks to the loyal QPR fans who supported me and the team.

‘With regard to my future, I hope to have many more years as a football manager and I will take what I have learned during my time at QPR with me into my next challenges.’

Everton’s Owner Farhad Moshiri Rejects Romelu Lukaku Exit Talks

Featured Image

Everton co-owner Farhad Moshiri has tried to play down Ronald Koeman’s talk about Romelu Lukaku leaving Goodison Park.

Speaking to Belgian newspaper HLN earlier in the week, the Toffees boss seemed to suggest the striker, who has scored seven goals in 11 appearances this season, deserved to be at a bigger club.

Koeman said: “If Romelu was to play at Everton until the end of his career, I know he has left something (behind). His potential is greater and higher than Everton, as a final destination.

“Patrick Kluivert was also a striker who was quite young in the picture and had a fantastic career. Eventually Kluivert played for Barcelona, which could happen with Lukaku.”

But Moshiri, also the club’s majority shareholder, has questioned the reporting of his manager’s quotes and told talkSPORT: “It has been taken out of context.

“Ronald Koeman said he believes Romelu will develop into one of the best strikers in the world in the next two to three years and wouldn’t be out of place at his old club, Barcelona. It is just player-coach talk.”

Lukaku was linked with a move away from Goodison Park during the close season but Koeman convinced the 23-year-old to withdraw his transfer request.

Manchester City Striker Nolito Admits He Misses His Former Club

Featured Image

Man City forward Nolito says he would love to return to former club Celta Vigo at some point in his career.

The Spain international signed a four-year deal when he joined City from Celta earlier this year.

Nolito made over 100 appearances for Celta during a three-year spell at the La Liga club and admits he would love to return to Galicia at some point in his career.

“I miss Celta [Vigo] a lot. I would like to return. Provided I can, I will return,” He told Marca.

“My adaptation (in England) is going well. I felt a little alone but in the dressing room we speak a lot of Spanish.

“That is why I chose not to study English – within Pablo Zabaleta, David Silva, Jesus Navas, Sergio Aguero and lots of Spanish-speaking technical staff.

“Someday I will have to take the time to do it.”

Nolito only made his senior Spain debut two years ago at the age of 28, and has since scored six goals in 15 caps to become an important part of Julen Lopetegui’s plans.

“It’s been an intense and very happy dream, I’m enjoying every time I come away with my country,” he said.

“It’s true that there have been lots of different players (called up), but I think that’s good.”

Napoli And AC Milan To Make January Bids For Olivier Giroud

Featured Image

Milan and Napoli are lining up moves for out-of-favour Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, according to reports in Sport Mediaset.

It is understood that both Serie A clubs will swoop for the France international when the transfer window reopens for business in January.

Napoli are still looking for a replacement for Gonzalo Higuain, whom they lost to Juventus for £76.5m in the summer, while Milan are looking for another striker to boost their chances of returning to the Champions League next season.

Giroud has started only once this season after injury and an extended break after Euro 2016, but has seen Alexis Sanchez continue as Arsene Wenger’s main striker despite his return to fitness.

The 30-year-old has only 18 months left on his Arsenal deal and has previously vowed to stay and fight for his place back at the Emirates.

However, he has also given any potential suitors hope by admitting he is unhappy with the current situation he finds himself in with the Gunners.

“I see my future at Arsenal until the date my contract ends,” he said this week.

“But I won’t lie, there have been times I’ve been disappointed and not happy with my situation.

“But the coach knows that. He’s the one who makes the choices. I’ll fight for my place.

“When I look from the stands at Arsenal, the team plays well and made a very good start to the championship, I tell myself that the train leaves without me and that I must not get too far behind.”

Barcelona To Make Liverpool’s Philippe Their ‘Number One’  Transfer Target

Featured Image

Barcelona are closely monitoring Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, reports Sport.

The playmaker has been in magnificent form this season and he is interesting the La Liga champions.

Coutinho is on the front page of Barcelona-based newspaper Sport, with the headline stating ‘Objective Coutinho’.

The Catalans are following the midfielder closely due to his ‘Barca DNA’.

In addition, Sport says the Brazilian has a great connection with Neymar and would be delighted to play at the Nou Camp.

Sport claim there’s been regular contact between the player’s representatives and Barca, although there’s nothing solid on the table at the moment. In the future, though, the reports strongly imply, the club do see him as an obvious transfer target.

His friendships with Neymar and Suarez, his six month loan spell with Espanyol 2012, where he got to know the city and the language, and even his “Barca DNA” are listed as the reasons why it’s inevitable he would choose the Blaugrana if he ever left Liverpool.

Coutinho has emerged as arguably the best player in the Premier League this season, scoring five goals in 11 appearances, which has helped fire Liverpool to the top of the table.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is desperate not to sell the Brazilian Magician, but Barca have now firmly made him their number priority for the next summer transfer window.

It is claimed the Catalan club believe a fee of around €75m – £65m at the current exchange rate – would be enough to land him, although Liverpool will surely hold out for much more given the player’s importance and star quality.

However Barcelona are not the only Spanish giants hopeful of landing the former Inter Milan man, with their bitter rivals Real Madrid also keeping close tabs on the situation.

Messi After Brazil Loss: Argentina Must Unite To Get Out Of This S**t

Featured Image

Lionel Messi is not giving up after the loss to Brazil, calling on Argentina to unite after the defeat on Thursday.

Argentina’s winless run extended to four matches in the World Cup qualifiers, after stumbling to a 3-0 loss to Brazil.

Neymar, Philippe Coutinho and Paulinho put the visitors to the sword, with Argentina languishing outside the qualification places.

“We did not expect this result,” Messi told TyC Sports as the attention now turns to Tuesday’s home game against Colombia.

“Up to the first goal, the match was even, we were doing well. It’s difficult when you get into these dynamics, in this situation. The minimum is you get down and everything turns out to be more difficult.

“Within all the bad things and the s*** we are in, we still depend on ourselves.

“If we defeat Colombia, we get into the fight again – all the teams are near – but it’s true we are aware and we know that this is not the way to do things. We have to change a lot to defeat Colombia.”

Argentina are sixth in the standings with 16 points from 11 matches. Messi and Co. are already eight points adrift of Brazil and a point behind fifth-placed Chile as pressure mounts on coach Edgardo Bauza.

Messi added via ESPN: “We need to be strong and get out of this situation. Today we have to be more united than ever. We all want the same thing: to qualify for the World Cup.”

Mascherano: No Excuse For Brazil Loss

Featured Image

Argentina’s loss to Brazil has put a dent in their hopes of qualifying for the 2018 world cup, and Mascherano will make no excuses for the loss.

Brazil thrashed the Albiceleste 3-0 at the Belo Horizonte, condemning Bauza’s men to four straight games without a win.

They lie sixth in the standings, with the top four qualifying automatically, but can overhaul third-place Colombia with victory in next Tuesday’s now pivotal clash in San Juan.

“Obviously things have to change. We have to deal with these days and find a way to lift ourselves up,” Mascherano told reporters.

“We have to work on everything that we need to work on. We can’t make excuses. It’s a situation that we can’t lie to ourselves about. We have to get out of it ourselves.”

Sergio Aguero was introduced at half-time to no avail and the Manchester City striker feels confidence is low in the Argentina camp.

“We are not having a good moment and that’s clear,” he said.

“But besides all of this, we’ve looked a little bit at the result and we can look to win on Tuesday.

“The whole group isn’t completely good, but we have another important match and we hope that the people can come to us and that we can be confident on the pitch.”

Dwayne Wade Wins In Return To Miami, Gets Standing Ovation

Featured Image

In his first game against the Miami Heat, since joining the Chicago Bulls, Dwayne Wade notched 13 points, 7rebounds and 4 assists in a 98-95 win for the Bulls.

“Worst basketball game I ever played in my life,” Wade said with a chuckle. “I couldn’t wait until it was over. It’s just weird. You’re going against guys — it just seemed like we were just playing in the playoffs together.

“Just a good environment though, man. The fans were great. I appreciate the ovation, the cheers. The things that they were saying, I appreciate it all. But the game itself was weird.”

The shooting guard spent 13 years with the Heat and spoke about how much he needed to win the game. He struggled to find his rhythm throughout the night, but his free throws helped secure the win with 13.7 seconds left on the clock.

He received multiple standing ovations, with one coming during the player introductions, with fans cheering his name. Another after a tribute video was played at the end of the first quarter.

Wade, who sat quietly at the end of the bench as the video played, walked back onto the floor after the video ended and blew kisses to the crowd. Fans continued cheering and chanting “D-Wade! D-Wade!”

“It was more so seeing so many familiar faces that you’ve been seeing for years sitting in certain seats,” Wade said. “People that before certain games like to give you eye contact, like to do their own ritual with you … that was probably the thing that was the weirdest, being on the other side of the lens. The video was cool but we were already in the game.

“I’m glad [this game] is over with. When I first looked at the schedule, I was like why so early? I’m glad it’s over early so we can focus.”

After the game ended, Wade shook hands with former teammates and Heat personnel. He walked off the floor to loud cheers with a sign in the stands just above him that read: “This will always be Wade County.”

“Probably the most emotional I got was at the end of the game when I went around and hugged certain people,” Wade said. “Just to see the people that I call family. That was probably one of the most emotional moments for me.”

MUSIC: Moyeen – Lojiji

Featured Image

In times of unexpected and surprising events, soulful singer-songwriter Moyeen releases a rather timely and catchy guitar-driven tune: Lojiji meaning “suddenly” in English.

Lojiji is an upbeat melodic take on experiencing unanticipated changes in life, her witty intro leads into a relatable storyline of thriving despite the odds. Lojiji evokes hope and it’s super cool that she pays homage to Ebenezer Obe as well.

However you slice and dice it “ Lojiji” is Moyeen’s finest tune yet and her velvet-smooth voice and catchy harmonies make her top the list of Nigeria’s export-worthy talent, watch out as her tunes take over your playlist!
