Full Transcript Of Jose Mourinho’s Press Conference Today

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho faced the media today ahead of the side’s Boxing Day encounter with Sunderland – managed by former United boss David Moyes – at Old Trafford.

A full transcript follows below.

You spoke to a lot of people before you decided to come here. Was David Moyes one of those people you decided to speak to?

“No. I didn’t speak to many people and David was not also a person that I asked for. I think when you have Manchester United and you are in another club, maybe you think twice, but when you have Manchester United and you don’t have a club and you’re not working, I don’t think you have a lot to think about. I thought about the difficulty of the job, I tried to answer myself why the club in the past three years was going in – in terms of the results – a difficult direction. I tried to answer myself why but I couldn’t think much about coming to Manchester United, so easy decision.”

When Sir Alex left you were mentioned as one of the people as a possible successor. At that time did you ever think how difficult it would be to directly follow Sir Alex Ferguson?

“Not really. Not really. I was in another club. When I am in a club I just think about the club and I don’t use my time thinking about other things, so not really. What I knew was the evolution of the Premier League, I know the new direction of the Premier League and I knew that periods of domination belong to the past, because the Premier League was going already in an incredible direction and it is what it is now.”

Tony Pulis has said this morning that he has made a bid for Morgan Schneiderlin. You said this week that you wouldn’t keep anybody here if they didn’t want to be here. Has Morgan mentioned anything to you, has he said that he wants to leave?

“Yes. Very professional, fantastic boy. Very honest, very open and opened his heart a couple of times. My answer is simple – if he’s playing regularly with me, I have the right to say ‘no way’. If he’s not playing regularly, I have no right to tell a player that wants to be happy ‘you are going nowhere’. So my answer was if the offer is right and our board thinks that offer is a good offer in relation to the quality of a very good player like Morgan, I would not stop him to go.”

You mentioned a few times about settling in here and how happy you are. Has it surprised you that you have found real happiness here and how does it compare to maybe five, six months at other clubs you’ve gone into?

“I don’t like to compare, honestly. I think you know me, you don’t listen from me many opinions, many stories, even compare my previous clubs. When I leave clubs I close the door, I close a chapter, I wish them good and goodbye. Be happy and I try to be happy too. So I don’t like to go in that direction. What I can say is that in here I felt I meet people with open arms. Not just a very calm and intelligent board and owners, they know what they want, they have big experience already and are very calm, very pragmatic giving me good conditions to work. And in the players and the people that surrounds me I felt some sadness because the people that loves football, they obviously want to be successful and everybody tries to help to go in the same direction.”

You’ve said before that you don’t mind who scores the goals but Zlatan Ibrahimovic now is quite clearly your top goal scorer, I think he’s scored nine more than anyone else. In terms of the pressure on him, would it help him if more people chipped in with more goals, or are you confident that he can handle the pressure?

“There’s no problem for me. I’m really happy for him because maybe some people could think he was a top scorer but not any more with 35 years old, but not any more because the Premier League is not La Ligue. But at 35 for him is the same at 25, in the Premier League he scores goals and he plays well and I’m really happy for him because he will end his career on a high, which is amazing. He is not ending his career in America or in China, he’s ending his career at the top of the top so I’m really, really pleased with him. His record is good, he can improve. With no penalties, which is amazing too because normally the other goals that are top scorers around the world, they score a lot of penalties. He had one penalty in 17 Premier League matches so I couldn’t be happier with him.”

The congestion, the fixture list now – you’re going to need all the bodies back. How are you standing with the likes of Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Luke Shaw? How are they ahead of what is going to be such a busy period now?

“The busy period is for some clubs, not for everyone, because if you analyse the fixtures for some clubs, there is no congestion for them. It looks like the fixtures are chosen to give rest for some and to create problems to others. But we are used to it, because we are in the Europa League and the Europa League is a competition that creates more difficulties. We know that, Southampton knows that, Tottenham will know that later. It’s very difficult, so for us it’s just more of the same. It’s good for us to have everybody available, but Luke Shaw. And he is not far. But central defender position, we have now all of them. Smalling is back, Bailly is back, Jones is fine, Rojo is fine, Blind is fine, so it’s a position where I think it is very important to have some stability in the options. We were in a difficult position a couple of months ago but now we are safe and we know that Bailly is going to the African Cup in January, but for the next three matches we have him.”

Sex Abuse Scandal : Chelsea Cleared Of Any Wrongdoing In Gary Johnson’s Case

Featured Image
Chelsea have been cleared of breaking any Premier League rules in their handling of historical sex abuse claims made in 2014 by former player Gary Johnson.

The club apologised to Johnson earlier this month for the abuse that he suffered as a Blues trainee in the 1970s.

Johnson, 57, revealed that Chelsea paid him £50,000 to keep quiet about allegations against former chief scout Eddie Heath.

A Premier League statement read: “After careful consideration, the board has determined that no Premier League rules were broken by the club not reporting this matter to them in 2014.

“The League has requested that Chelsea agrees to a full safeguarding audit from an independent safeguarding expert.

“The League has no reason to have any concerns about Chelsea’s current provisions in this area, but, given the seriousness of these historical allegations, feels that such a review is an appropriate course of action.

“The League has also requested that Chelsea provides them with details of the current review the club has asked an external law firm to undertake into historical abuse and how it handled Mr Johnson’s claim, and that a full copy of the review is provided to the Premier League and The FA upon its completion – Chelsea has agreed to these requests.”

In an earlier statement, the Stamford Bridge club acknowledged that Johnson had “suffered unacceptably” after joining Chelsea as an 11-year-old in 1970 because of Heath, who died of a heart attack in the 1980s.

David Moyes Claims He Was Unfairly Treated At Manchester United

Featured Image

Sunderland boss David Moyes believes he didn’t get a fair crack at the Man Utd job…

“I was definitely unfairly treated,” he said today, having been sacked 10 months into his six-year contract back in April 2014.

“I think you need to look and say over the piece you know other managers have come and gone and it has been really difficult for them as well.

“I actually think whoever follows on after Sir Alex Ferguson, whether it had been Jose Mourinho then, Carlo Ancelotti, Jurgen Klopp – whoever you want to name – or David Moyes, I think it would have been the same.

“I think it would have taken time to change the squad. They had great players Man Utd – one or two getting near to their end of their career. It was going to be a little bit of a building job. It was never going to get done immediately.”

Sam Allardyce Certain To Become Crystal Palace Manager

Featured Image

Disgraced former England coach Sam Allardyce has arrived at Crystal Palace’s training ground to “complete talks” over succeeding sacked Alan Pardew as manager.

Crystal Palace dismissed Pardew on Thursday after almost two years in charge, with Allardyce now expected to take over once he has held talks with the club’s chairman, Steve Parish.

“Just here to complete talks and talk to Steve. If everything goes all right it should be OK,” he told Sky Sports News.

Asked whether he would be in charge in time for the match against Watford on Boxing Day, Allardyce said: “We’ll wait and see. It’s early days. Been a bit of a rush.”

Parish was at the club’s training ground on Friday afternoon and the assistant manager Keith Millen hosted the media conference.

On its conclusion, the assembled media were immediately asked to vacate the room which included the branded signage in front of which any new manager would pose for club photographs.

“I’ve been told to prepare the team,” Millen said.

Millen is not aware of the progress of the appointment of Pardew’s successor, but believes Allardyce has pedigree. “I’ve not been party to that,” Millen said. “It’s obviously not confirmed, because I wouldn’t be here if it was. If it is Sam, we’re getting an experienced manager coming in.

“He did a great job at Sunderland keeping them up. He’d certainly be able to sort the players out.”

United Can Still Challenge For Title, Says Lingard

Featured Image

An optimistic Jesse Lingard believes Manchester United remain in the race for the EPL, if they can maintain their form.

The Manchester club is 13 points behind table toppers Chelsea and earlier this week Mourinho conceded the top spot could be out of reach.

And with United claiming victories in their last three league games, Lingard will not give up on the title just yet.

“If the lads stick together and win the games we should be winning then I do not see why we cannot be in a good position in May and challenging for the title,” the 24-year-old told the club’s official website.

“We have found our match rhythm now. A lot of players are playing their part and helping us win games.

“I think the defence has been very good for us, particularly over the last three or four games.

“We need to keep that going over the Christmas period and if we can do that it will put us in a good place in January.”

Mr. Mavrodi, Leave President Buhari Out, I Will Provide All Your Answers!

Mr. Mavrodi, Leave President Buhari Out, I Will Provide All Your Answers!, By Sunday Adelaja

Many people have challenged me on why I have been silent on MMM before now. The truth is I have not really been silent. I started to hear about MMM in Africa in the summer of 2016, around July/August. Most of the information I came across were news report about the collapse of MMM in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

This piece was written by Sunday Adelaja. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

I read this in the newspapers and social media. I then made sure that I immediately reposted all the warning articles I saw on social media on my official Facebook pages. Between August and September, I posted over 20 articles warning both Nigerians and Africans about the fraudulent activities of MMM in other countries. Since there was so much information in the media warning the people about the danger of this scheme, I did not see it necessary for me to set apart my precious time to write personal articles. There were more than enough warning signs for those who wanted to listen.

READ ALSO: Before MMM, Nigerians Were Already Greedy And Vulnerable

I however finally decided to create time out of my busy schedule and lend my voice to the countless number of those warning against MMM after I read the open letter that was addressed to the Nigerian government by the MMM founder Mr. Sergey Mavrodi. So why did I take that decision? Especially knowing that when I decide to do something, I don’t like to do a shallow job. I know it will cost me at least 40 hours of work. That is a full week’s working hours. For those who live in the Western world, they know what that means, but for me in particular, that is very expensive, bearing in mind all other activities I am already engaged in. I however decided to pay the price and write these series of eight articles, this being the third even though it is titled number 2, to warn my compatriots about the dangers of MMM. This is thanks to Mr. Mavrodi’s open letter.

In his letter I could see that Mr. Mavrodi wrote that letter as an exit strategy. For any analytically thinking person, it is evident that his letter was meant to play certain strategic roles, namely:

  1. Mavrodi was trying to hypnotise his adherents so that, on one hand they will think of him as a caring master who is sincerely concerned about their wellbeing. This is FALSE.
  2. MMM’s chief scammer wanted to present the Nigerian government as the real scam instead of his organisation. This is a pure case of shifting blames. In my local language there is an adage that says “if the owner of the farm is not swift enough to catch the thief, the thief will turn around to accuse the owner of being the thief.”
  3. Mavrodi knew that his scheme, like all other pyramid schemes, was bound to fail. Hence he was giving himself a soft landing through that letter to say, if this fails, I am not the one to blame, but the Nigerian government.
  4. Mavrodi knows that at the rate at which MMM Nigeria was growing, too many people would be demanding for some of their money back during the Christmas/new year season. Meanwhile, not too many would be bringing in much money, which will automatically lead to an accelerated collapse of the whole scheme. So as a scammer that he is, he decided to protect himself and jump ship.
  5. One of the most annoying things he did in his letter was to actually point accusing fingers at the Nigerian government for failing to provide for their citizens, as if he had actually come to provide for them alternatively. Even though, yes, the Nigerian government has a lot of failings, but he has done absolutely nothing to contribute to the welfare of the people through his organisation. Mavrodi has only come to steal from these very people, yet blaming the government for his crime.
  6. Knowing that no serious government will engage him in a public debate, he decided to play out a spectacle by asking the Nigerian government questions to which he knows there won’t be answers. The goal is so that he could then turn around and tell his followers that, you see, your government could not answer the questions I asked them on your behalf. This is a master fraudster that must be exposed for who he is.
  7. Mavrodi, in his letter, allowed himself to treat a whole country – the largest Black Country in the world – as a laughing stock. This is the same old stereotypical way Europeans treated Africans, leading back to the colonial days.

“Stolen bread tastes sweet, but it turns to gravel in the mouth.” – Proverbs 20:17

As a Nigerian citizen who has lived in Russia for the past 30 years of my life, while studying and living among his people, I have distinguished myself in every possible manner. Intellectually, mentally, politically, etc. I sense that Mr. Mavrodi is trying to play on the intelligence of an entire country. As a Nigerian who lives in his country and studied with his people, becoming the very best in their University, where there were 16,000 other students from his country, I think I deserve a right to respond.

As a black man, who lives among his white European compatriots, and has been able to do what no one of the whole 300 million citizens of the former Soviet Union has done in building the largest evangelical church in Europe, I thought it right not to sit down here and keep quiet while a con artist throws a challenge at my country and at my president. Hence my title of this article “MR. MAVRODI, LEAVE PRESIDENT BUHARI OUT, I WILL PROVIDE ALL YOUR ANSWERS!”

I have taken it upon myself to provide answers to the questions he asked, one after the other. I intend to prove to him by answering his questions that he is indeed a fraud, and I only pray that my countrymen, especially those who have been deceived by him are listening.

ANSWERS TO MAVRODI’S QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS

Mavrodi: Do you want the MMM system to collapse and millions of people to suffer?

Adelaja: Hahahahahaha! Wow! Wow!! Wow!!! Did you just hear his question? Wow! What a philanthropist! What a humanitarian! Mr. Mavrodi, you make yourself a laughing stock by this question. You want to tell people that you care for the interest of millions of people in Nigeria? I know exactly what you think of the Nigerian people. You are thinking they are foolish monkeys down there, you have not even visited Nigeria to know what they look like. Even those who are promoting your fraudulent enterprise in the country, you will not even meet with them. I can guarantee that you have never met any Nigerian officially, because you don’t think they are good enough for you to even talk to. Now you are trying to tell me that you care for millions of Nigerians when you don’t care enough to meet with even your representatives. How will you care for millions when you don’t even care for one? Care for one first before you care for millions.

Listen “Mr. Charity”, you don’t care about anybody, not in Nigeria or in your country. You only care about your own agenda, your own image, and about your own pocket. You are not caring about Nigerians, you are caring about their millions of dollars that you can take away from the country. The millions you care about is not millions of people, but millions of their money.

Mavrodi: What will the Nigerian government say to a mother who does not have money to buy food for her baby if MMM is shut down by the government?

Adelaja: Thank God the government did not have to shut it down. We are now hearing news that MMM itself is freezing its own operations. Hello Mr. Mavrodi, the situation you were predicting in your letter is already here, and it was not caused by the government, but by you. The little money that mother had to feed her child she took it to your company and now she cannot get it back. You said you are the kind one, you came to help the country, help the lady whose money you took! There are already reports of people drinking pesticides and trying to commit suicide. Can you resolve that and stop people from committing suicide by returning their money to them? You don’t have to do charity to them. They are asking for their money back without interest and they will be happy.

Mavrodi: You Nigerian government don’t even pay wages to your people.

Adelaja: Hahaha Mr. Mavrodi, yes the Nigerian government doesn’t always pay wages to their people. Wow! You are so well informed. I am impressed by your vast knowledge of Nigeria’s situation. But the little wages the Nigerian government was able to pay her workers were enough for you to be attracted to Nigeria. Those little wages were even enough for you to build a whole company that was collecting these from them, howbeit in a fraudulent manner. So the best you can do for the Nigerian worker, my friend, is to return those little wages back to the people you collected them from, pack your load and close down your fraudulent company forever.

Mavrodi: MMM is the only means of livelihood for Nigerians who are in the MMM system.

Adelaja: Did you ever ask yourself how they lived before you came? Most of these people you are talking about are at least older than two years and your company in Nigeria is just a year old. Did you ever wonder how they ate and fed themselves and their families before you came into the country? You have only been here for just one year, and you are now claiming that your organisation is their only means of livelihood. Didn’t they eat before you came?

Hello Mr. Sergey, no serious government will ever have anything to do with you and I will dare to say no serious human being should even have anything to do with you either. Mr. Mavrodi, you are just a joke.

Mavrodi: You say MMM is a scam.

Adelaja: No no no, we didn’t say MMM is a scam, the whole world is saying MMM is a scam, even you said MMM is a scam. You were convicted and served prison time as a fraudster and a con artist. So why should you make it look as if it is the Nigerian government that is calling you a scam? You make it sound as if you are really not a scam, as if we are the ones who tagged you a scam. I have a video and here is the link where you yourself admit being a scam, and that your structure MMM is a pyramid scheme. (http://youtu.be/V5-HrluEFy4).

You said it here in video, translated in English. You know you are a scam, but you think people are foolish and you are treating them as foolish people who could be taken advantage of. Mr. Mavrodi you have video recordings where you said that, yes you are a con artist, but you build your business on people’s greed.

Thanks to my ability to understand and speak Russian language fluently, I personally listened to you in an interview in Russian language when you were saying this. According to you, this philosophy will survive, and MMM will live, as long as greed and lust for money is part of human nature. You said that there is nothing anybody can do in any country to stop your business, because people still want to have quick and easy money.

On your MMM website, you gave a clear warning to all the participants that they could lose their money and yet people still went ahead and got involved. You said you are not cheating or robbing anybody, because you are sincere enough to tell them exactly what you are doing. So you say, “I tell people what I am doing, they know they are involved in criminal acts, they know they are involved in pyramids, they know they are involved in frauds, so what am I doing wrong then?” People are intentionally getting involved in something they know is evil and could go catastrophic at any time. That is in your own words.

Mavrodi: MMM is only restoring social justice by taking money from the richer people to give to the poorer ones. Nothing gets out of the country.

Adelaja: Well, this fairytale can only be believed by those who you have brainwashed to join your Ponzi scheme. Unfortunately, some of them, even in Nigeria, keep on repeating this same mantra of yours, under the guise of MMM’s philosophy. Did you say nothing leaves the country? So what has happened to all the money that has presently not been paid back to those who brought their own money into your system? Why is it that they cannot get their money back if their money has not left the country? Why is it that these poor Nigerians who you want to help have to bring money, why don’t you give them money if you want to help them without them having to be deprived of their own money? Maybe you will tell us why the money has to be brought to your system, or as you say it, paid through your system. If you really want people to help each other, just tell them to help each other directly, without you being the middle man through whom all the money passes to get to others. Maybe you will tell us why your server is not based in Nigeria? Maybe you will tell us why the head office that is managing the Nigerian operation is in Dubai and the server in the Philippines.

Mavrodi: If you know what is right for your people, why is the life so bad in your country?

Adelaja: Yes, you are right Mr. Mavrodi, we know we have a lot of challenges and troubles in our country. Yes the standard of living of many of our people is poor. We however didn’t give you an invitation to come and make it worse! Despite how bad things are in our country, it is still good enough for you to come and harvest some of those fruits.

So thank you Mr. Mavrodi, your efforts are greatly appreciated. You have done the worst that any none human could do. You have made the lives of three million Nigerians worse than when you met them for which we are saying thank you, God bless you, and we pray that one day you will eventually meet your waterloo.

Nasri: Sevilla Was The Perfect Club For Me

Featured Image

On loan Manchester City midfielder, Nasri has revealed the reason for going to Sevilla for his loan stint, stating the club was perfect for him.

The 29-year-old midfielder joined the La Liga outfit on a season long loan in August after spending five years with Manchester City.

The Frenchman has already scored three goals in 13 appearances for Sevilla and revealed he wanted to leave despite Guardiola wanting him to stay.

“I had a good pre-season but needed a change. Guardiola wanted me to stay,” he told Sevilla’s official magazine.

“In my last season, I had many injuries and wanted to start something new, fresh. So I contacted other clubs but, when I heard Sevilla, I knew I needed to come here.

“If you know anything about football, you know that Sevilla has returned many players back to the top.”

There were also other factors for Nasri, who said that he spoke to City team-mates before deciding his next move.

“I also asked Jesus Navas, [David] Silva and Nolito about the club, the city, and everything was good,” he enthused.

“There was good food, very nice girls… I talked to Guardiola and he told me there is a great coach in [Sevilla assistant] Juanma Lillo. That was all I needed to know. It was perfect for me.”

Hodgson: The Word Iceland Started To Frustrate Me

Featured Image

Former England manager, Roy Hodgson admits he didn’t want to hear the word Iceland again following the 2-1 Euro 2016 elimination against the minor country.

England lost 2-1 in the knockout stages against Iceland, after going ahead through a Wayne Rooney penalty, with Hodgson resigning his post after the match.

The exit was the latest in a long line of disappointments for England at major tournaments, but Hodgson says he was totally taken aback by the result.

“I never wanted to hear the word Iceland again. The game came as a massive surprise,” he told The Times.

“Everything leading up to it lulled us into a false sense of security. Not just the coaches but the players too.

“We did all our preparation for the Iceland game and that went well. The training sessions were good, everyone was motivated.

“We went into the game thinking we are better than the team we’re playing, we have better players, we are in good shape, in good form, we’re confident and it will go our way – and blow me down, the game is a few minutes old and we go one up.

“They scored immediately afterwards and that was a slight blow but then the second goal came and it seemed to be they [Iceland] were buoyed by that, it restored their faith in their journey and for some reason our players seemed to freeze a little bit.

“You start to see the fear emerging and the self-confidence draining and then you start to think: ‘What can I do to stop this?’

“During that second half you’re thinking, ‘This can’t happen, this is such a bad moment, we can’t live through the aftermath of this moment’ and you are counteracting that with considering, ‘What can we do, what changes can be made?’ Half of you is thinking tactically and the other half of you, your heart is beating faster because it’s not going your way.”

Hodgson concedes his half-time team talk did not have the desired effect but is happy to see the team recovering form after his tenure ended at 56 matches, with Gareth Southgate at the helm following Sam Allardyce’s fleeting stint in the hot seat.

“All that we did in the build-up was about having no fear,” he added. “We had to rise above the question: ‘What if we lose, what’s the reaction going to be?’

“And that was what we said at half-time. But they were just words. Saying to someone: ‘Have no fear, don’t be afraid’ – they’re good words, but what ‘no fear’ means to you might be different to what ‘no fear’ means to them.

“And don’t forget we’re dealing with young players. We knew there would come a moment when we might be criticised for not having enough wise old heads on the pitch but we were building for the future.

“The pitch didn’t help but we managed to produce the worst game out of 56 at a crucial stage of a tournament that gets you knocked out. I’m pleased the players have got over that [exit] and I see the same sort of team and set up.”

Report : PSG Beat Arsenal And Liverpool To The Signing Of Julian Draxler

Featured Image

Arsenal and Liverpool look set to be disappointed today as we understand Wolfsburg will announce the transfer of Julian Draxler to Paris St Germain.

We understand that negotiations are expected to be concluded this morning and a source has told us an announcement is “99 per cent certain to happen today.”

The German international will join PSG in January for a fee of around £38m although the deal could rise to £41m on appearances.

Our colleagues in Germany believe the deal with PSG will keep him at PSG until 2021.

We understand Arsenal and more recently Liverpool were interested in signing Draxler. However interest cooled when it became apparent he was heading for Ligue 1.

After agreeing a lucrative four-year contract with PSG earlier in the week, Draxler will now be heading to Ligue 1 to help struggling Unai Emery perform a miraculous turnaround.

The current champions are five points behind leaders Nice after 19 games and aren’t even the top scorers in their league, with Monaco hitting the target 18 more times.

The likes of Angel Di Maria, Lucas Moura and Hatem Ben Arfa have come under fire for failing to ease the burden on striker Edinson Cavani.

And PSG fans will now be hoping to get their season back on track with additional support from Draxler out wide, with reports claiming a deal to land Wolfsburg teammate Ricardo Rodriguez is also close to completion.
