Chalobah Glad To Complete First 90 Minutes For Chelsea And Hopes To Continue Learning From Fabregas

Featured Image

Chelsea academy graduate Nathaniel Chalobah has revealed his joy at playing his first full game for the club in the 4-1 win over Peterborough in the FA Cup.

The 22-year-old old has started from the bench in the PL and played in cup matches, and despite making the bench at 15, he had to wait till he was 21 to get his shot.

Conte started the midfielder and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who was impressive, and Ola Aina also came on early in the second half.

Chalobah believes he is an important member in Conte’s first team squad but admitted he is delighted to have completed his first 90 minutes.

“It was a proud moment for me to complete my first 90 minutes at Chelsea,” Chalobah said in response to a question from Goal. “I am really happy. We have just got to going now, we are up there in the league at the minute.

“We are taking it game by game and there is still a long way to go in the season, anything can happen. This is good development at a club that I have been at from a very young age so we [Loftus-Cheek and Ola Aina] are all very happy.

“I think that’s the dream [to make it at Chelsea], we have always thought of playing for Chelsea and we are doing it all together at the minute. The manager has got faith in us and he has given us the chance so it is something that we are proud of and all the young players at the club just need to keep following their dream.”

The young midfielder started in the heart of midfield alongside Cesc Fabregas and is glad to be learning from Fabregas, Matic and Kante.

“I just watch them [Fabregas-Matic-Kante] every week and they have just gone thirteen games unbeaten which makes it hard to get into the side,” He added after his appearance in the FA Cup.

“Obviously there are a few players ahead of us [younger players]. So every week, every game, I just watch and learn from them because they have got the experience that I don’t have yet.

“We are definitely part of it [the first team], the manager has given us more responsibility to follow his philosophy and we are all learning.”

Ozil Will Stay If Wenger Renews

Featured Image

Mesut Ozil has stated the only reason he will stay at London club, Arsenal, is if Arsene Wenger renews his contract.

The Germany international has a contract that will expire in the summer of 2018, he and Sanchez are yet to agree an extension.

Ozil insists he is loving life at the Emirates Stadium, but is just just waiting on Wenger to renew his contract, with the frenchman having just six months left on his contract.

“I am very, very happy at Arsenal and have let the club know that I would be ready to sign a new contract,” Ozil told Kicker. “The fans want that I stay and now it is just down to the club.”

He added: “The club knows that I am here most of all because of Arsene Wenger. He is the one who signed me and he is the one whose trust I have.

“The club also knows that I want to be clear what the manager is doing to [in the future].”

Former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry has accused the German – as well as Alexis – of “holding the club ransom” by refusing to sign unless he is offered a significant increase to his salary, but Ozil rebuffed that suggestion.

“Everybody has the right to say his opinion,” said the midfielder. “But these statements do not interest me, they do not affect me. Such ex-players, or other people who have their say, do not know what is actually spoken between the club and me.”

Wenger, however, has stated that he has no intention of selling Ozil and would fight to secure his long-term future in north London.

Wenger said: “I can give no assurances on their Arsenal future, but 18 months is quite long in football.

“They are completely committed and try to do well. We are trying to extend their contract. But when you negotiate, the less you talk about it, the better it is.

“Players like Ozil and Alexis make a lot of money and have the privilege to make a choice where they want to play. We will do anything to get them to extend.

“We will not sell Ozil. They will definitely stay for 18 months and hopefully for much longer. I will not consider selling them at the end of the season.”

Pochettino: Villa Win Will Boost Confidence Of Fringe Players

Featured Image

Tottenham’s fringe players were given the chance to star in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa and Pochettino believes it’ll boost their confidence.

Davies who has made only three starts this season scored his first goal for the Spurs, with Son scoring the second goal in the hard fought win.

Son has been a more frequent feature in the first team and his goal was important in overcoming a resolute Villa side.

“It’s always difficult in the FA Cup, but we played a team that had very good organisation and it was tough to break them,” Pochettino is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

“We had lots of possession, but a lot patience to try and build from the back.

“I was very pleased in the end, it’s never easy to win in the FA Cup. It was a good opportunity for many players to show their quality.

“At 0-0 we changed the system a bit to try and change the game and from that we scored.

“I’m pleased for the players that haven’t played too much, it’s important for them to build their confidence.”

One of those fringe players, Kieran Trippier, said: “I train hard every day and it’s difficult because I’ve got Kyle Walker in front of me who has been doing excellent.

“I need to be ready when called upon.”

Arsenal’s Bid For Belotti Rejected

Featured Image

According to Torino’s sporting director, Gianluca Petrachi, the club has rejected a bid from Arsenal for Andrea Belotti.

The director also stated the Serie A club have no intention of selling the forward. However, Arsenal said no bid has been made for the Italian who has scored 17 goals in 21 appearances for both club and country.

The 23-year-old joined Torino from Palermo in 2015 and has a contract with the club till 2021.

When asked about a bid from Arsenal, Petrachi told Sky in Italy: “We received and refused a €65m (£56m) offer from Arsenal for Andrea Belotti, but it does not reflect the value of the player.

“Anyway, he is going nowhere for now. We want to enjoy him, then we’ll see what happens.

“We intend to keep Belotti and president Urbano Cairo signed this important buy-out clause. I think he’s worth more than they have offered.”

Ake Recalled From Bournemouth Loan By Chelsea

Featured Image

Nathan Ake’s loan spell at Bournemouth has been cut short, with Chelsea recalling the defender.

The 21-year-old joined Bournemouth on a season long loan and has been impressive for Eddie Howe’s side, prompting a recall by Conte.

Conte had described the Belgium international as an interesting opportunity in the January windows.

Chelsea and Bournemouth both confirmed the decisions in statements on Sunday, with the Cherries saying: “Ake has started the last eight games he has been eligible for but Chelsea have activated an option to recall him during the opening weeks of January, and the 21-year-old will return to Stamford Bridge immediately.

“Bournemouth would like to thank Nathan for his efforts over the past seven months and wish him well for the future.”

Ake played 24 Premier League games on loan at Watford last season and made a further 10 top-flight appearances for Bournemouth in 2016-17.

Howe had expressed his disappointment at Ake’s impending return to Chelsea after Bournemouth’s 3-0 FA Cup defeat to League One side Millwall on Saturday.

He said to BBC Sport: “It would be a huge blow to us as he has done so well.

“It’s easier said than done to say we are going to recruit a player in similar stature to Nathan and I’m not sure there’s too many out there, hence why Chelsea would recall him.

“So that’s going to be a difficult one for us. With Simon Francis’ suspension and Marc Pugh’s injury and now Nathan going back, our defensive resources are certainly stretched.”

Ake’s spell at Bournemouth was his third spell away from Chelsea – he also represented Championship side Reading in 2015.

The EP which was created in 2016 also features established African based female talents in Soke hitmaker – Niniola and beauty queen turned rapper Munachi Abi alias Muna.

The 10 track project subtly addresses the much talked about social issue of Gender Equality that is said to be present in the entertainment industry as there are whispers of inadequate opportunities for female music talents. Bankyonthebeatz, through this EP, iconically tackles this phenomenon head on, by collaborating with only female artistes.

Movie Review: King Invincible

Featured Image

After the banner year that 2016 was for Nollywood, it is only fair that industry watchers and insiders begin to fret about the New Year. 2016 was the year Nollywood went to Toronto, the long awaited ’76 was finally released, the excellent Ebola response story 93 Days came in and the year of The Wedding Party. Where does the industry go from here? In terms of storytelling, in terms of ambition and in terms of scale.

Forward ever it seems, if the new costume drama, King Invincible is anything to go by. Directed by Femi Adisa who conceived the story as far back as 2003 but had to wait over ten years for the resources to realise his vision, King Invincible is a decent attempt at genre filmmaking, in this case, the period piece drama, or in Nollywood parlance, the ‘’epic’’.

In a fictional kingdom somewhere in Yorubaland, a kingdom at war is rescued by a valiant palace slave, Taari (Tope Tedela.) As a reward for his bravery, the dying king adopts him into the royal family and he is to wed his heartthrob, Princess Morenike (Omowunmi Dada). They are to live happily ever after.

Man has plans, but the gods, they have plans too and a troublesome prophecy in particular brings with it discord among some of the royals. Taari and Morenike succumb to a moment’s weakness and the newly minted Prince begins to manifest strange characteristics more wolf like than human. On a frantic search for an antidote to his ailment, Taari seeks answers in the wild forests, far away from home and it is only there that he can fulfil his destiny and submit to the will of Oba Airi, the almighty.

Back home, crown Prince and brother to Taari, Adetiba (Gabriel Afolayan) will do anything to sit on the throne and his desperation sets off a chain of events that will ultimately reveal the folly and helplessness of man in the larger scheme of things.

With its reliance on prophecies, overriding presence of the unseen Oba Airi and pro-divine intervention leanings, King Invincible can be approached as a faith based project, serviced to a mainstream audience. The director’s alliance with the Redeemed Christian Church of God further buttresses this line of reasoning, especially when the inciting factor for most of the plot is essentially punishment for the sin of lust.

But thanks to Paul Gaius’ competent screenplay and Adisa’s careful, light touch with the material, King Invincible does not go into preachy, gospel territory and is set to attract as wide an audience as possible. You can recognise the filmmaker’s politics and maybe his agenda, but they try not get in the way of the story that is being told.

Costumier Obijie Oru does fine work clothing the cast and the makeup team goes out of the way to avoid a potential disaster with Taari’s Wolverine unravelling. There is definitely room for improvement but it is all capably handled. The film’s budget is limited, and so the sets have to be cloistered and shrunken as opposed to sprawling and epic but Adisa makes good use of what is available to him. The stunt coordinators show up for work and the actors put in commendable commitment to the fight scenes and stunt work.

The ensemble cast is a mix of young actors and the veterans and where many of the actors possess natural talent, Adisa draws some more out of them, making them believable even when they are spouting cheesy, clichéd lines. The foursome of Gabriel Afolayan, Tope Tedela, Omowunmi Dada and Mike Abdul in particular are the real MVPs.

Mike Abdul who is better known for his Fuji leaning work as part of the gospel band, Midnight Crew makes a stunning, confident film debut in his role as a monarch caught in between his duty to the crown and his love for his family. Omowunmi Dada has a face that can lighten up hearts when it smiles. She does not have much to do here but her scenes with Tedela sparkle with the charm that she brings to the role. Tedela takes a character that could easily have been a punchline and keeps it grounded with his effective work. Gabriel Afolayan as the covetous Prince Adetiba is a delight to behold once again. He chews up the scenery lavishly and leaves an indelible presence.

The screenplay is fast paced and even when it sags, as in the mid portions and dwells in clichés, manages to come up with twists and turns to keep viewers interested.

But ultimately, King Invincible is a director’s film and Femi Adisa’s hard work and vision is what is most striking about the entire picture. His passion is visible in every shot, and in every fight scene. He falters on occasion, with what he gets in (clustered sets, unimpressive supporting actors) and with what he leaves out (a pivotal battle scene that could have told more of Taari’s character) but anyone can see that bigger things are sure to come from him.

King Invincible is proof that Nollywood is heading forward this year.

Over 10,000 Nigerians Troop To See Mystery Trees In Ogun State

Featured Image

Over ten thousands of Nigerians have besieged the resident of one Michael Ibironke in Ogun since two mystery trees appeared with what appeared to be an Arabic inscription believed to be the name of Allah.

It was gathered that the Moringa trees were located at No.6, and No.9, Unity Street, Ire-akari Estate, Iloye, Abule Iroko, Ado-Odo Ota, Ogun State on December 24, 2016 and January 2, 2017, respectively.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ibironke, the occupant of the house where one of the trees was found, said what happened remained a mystery to him.

According to him, since the discovery, thousands of people of different faith have visited to see the trees, offer prayers and appreciate the work of God.

He said: “On December 26, 2016, we celebrated Christmas party in my compound and did not discover anything.

“But on the January 2, while I was doing my morning exercise with my wife, she called my attention to it. My wife was the one that discovered it.

“We are not Muslims, so we called a Muslim brother (Mr Ajibade) to explain the strange thing. We also invited an Imam, who also confirmed it.

“Over 10,000 people of different faith have visited my house since January 2. On Thursday at about 12 noon, my son counted over 3,000 people.

“We are not complaining about the disturbance, because it will mean we do not value the work of God.

“We are happy about it, people are greeting and praying for us.

“What happened has not affected our faith as Christians. People are celebrating and praising God. It is a mystery to everyone.

“We have been receiving people from different places Mushin, Ifo, Owode-Yewa and even from Omu-Aran in Kwara.

“My house has become a tourist centre. What God revealed to us is that He is the greatest, no man is equal to Him and He can reveal Himself in anyway.”

Also speaking on the discovery, a pastor, Olumide Olagbegi, said God was revealing to the people that He is the only God.

He said it could mean so many things to a layman but believed God can come in so many ways.

Hamzat Oyeyemi, a Muslim cleric, also said that the sign was of God, adding it was a sign of goodness to the family and the people.

“It is a miracle. This Arabic word appeared in a Christian house, is a sign of goodness; it is a mystery to mankind and people should be good.

“God has 99 names. The first is Allah, the name is from God, no one can share a name with God.”

Michael Dada, the owner of the second house where the Arabic word appeared said the tree was planted since 2010, but showed no sign of any misery until December 2016.

He said: “There was a bush around the house, so I called some boys to help me clear it, it was in the process that the boys saw it.

“We first discovered it on December 24, but paid no attention to it because we are Christians.

“We can’t count the number of the people that had visited this tree since the beginning of 2017.

“We invited some Muslims, they told us the name of Allah was written on it, we are Christians so we do not know the meaning.

“I don’t want to turn it to anything, anybody can come and pray as they believe, it is a mystery.

“We are not Muslims so we don’t know what to do,” he said.

“Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death!”

Featured Image

“Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death!” By Femi Fani-Kayode

For those that are troubled, that are grieving, that are suffering, that are deeply concerned and that are in a state of utter despondency and despair about what is happening in our country today and what the future holds, keep hope alive and hear this loud and clear.

This piece was written by Femi Fani-Kayode. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

Many years from now history will record that it was not the tyranny and bondage of President Muhammadu Buhari, his minions and his government or the curse and affliction of Boko Haram, the Fulani militias and herdsmen or the almighty Caliphate that the oppressed people of Nigeria were up against.

These people are not the enemy. They are merely the representatives, the low-level foot soldiers and the primitive enforcers of a greater satanic power that has sought to use them to create chaos in our nation, to subjugate our people in perpetuity, to establish a sacrificial blood bank, to wipe out our faith, to rob us of our identity and to corrupt and destroy our destiny and cherished values.

What we are up against are the forces that inspire, encourage, control, nurture, fund and guide them. They include the unadulterated evil of the wahhabi and salafist doctrines and philosophies espoused and propagated by the Royal House of Saud in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Illuminati agenda of the shapeshifting reptilian forces and Luciferian entities that put President Barack Obama in power in the United States of America 8 years ago and that attempted to ensure a Hilary Clinton Presidency at the end of 2016.

The entire challenge is essentially an existential struggle between the forces of light and the forces of darkness. The fight is raging in both the spiritual and physical realms. The currency is blood and the prizes are the precious and eternal souls of men and the control of the entire world and its enormous resources.

The good news is that our adversaries never saw President-elect Donald J. Trump coming. They wrote him off right from the start and dismissed his aspiration with scorn and contempt. Little did they know that he was God’s ace in the spades, or to put it in an even more appropiate manner, God’s “trump” card.

And it worked beautifully. The whole world and the forces from hell that control it were shell-shocked. They still are. Yet thankfully there is nothing they can do about it. They forgot that He uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wisdom of the wise. With Trump in the White House, guided, protected, led, fortified and driven by the love, power, mercy and grace of the Living God that put him there, the world will be a better and safer place after his swearing in on January 20th 2016.

It may take some time but after that day the dark and lonely winter ice of wickedness and witchcraft will begin to melt and the summer sun of blessings, prosperity, joy and peace will begin to rise. After that day the oppressed people of the southern and Middle Belt zones of Nigeria will have a friend in the White House. And as time goes by they will be given the opportunity to tell their story to the world, to break their chains of servitude, to shattter their yoke of slavery and to free themselves from the hideous mental prison of fear, tyranny and bondage that they have been subjected to over the last 56 years by their internal colonial masters.

After that day their mortal bodies and sacred flesh will no longer be cut to pieces and carved up like Peking diced duck or barbecued spare ribs in state-sponsored pogroms and acts of merciless genocide without any consequences. Their precious blood will no longer be used as a free-flowing blood bank for the devil and his monstrous demons to drink from and quench their frenzied thirst.

After that day they will no longer buy and eat the charmed and jinxed cow meat that they have been sold and fed by the apprentices and sorcerers of their secret adversaries for the last 56 years. After that day they will no longer feed on the Caliphs sweet cow meat which, over the years, has enchanted their spirits, locked up their souls, incapacitated their thinking faculties, broken their will, taken away their courage, destroyed their manhood, bound up their ability to reason, turned them into zombies and reduced them to a pitiful and shameful degree of impotence, cowardice, stoicism and docility.

Finally, after that date, their women and children will no longer be regarded as nothing but fair game, easy sport, expendable chattel and the spoils of war to be enslaved, shared, violated, raped and enjoyed by their collective oppressors and conquerors.

All this will come to pass sooner than later because freedom beckons and its trumpet call is loud and clear. Sooner than later Pharaoh shall die and we shall leave Egypt, enter Goshen, part the Red sea and cross over to the Promise Land. It is just a matter of time.

In the next few years our country will either be peacefully and equitably restructured according to the will of the people and the counsel of God or she will be violently broken into two or more pieces. The mass murder and ethnic cleansing of hundreds of thousands of religious and ethnic minorities in the Middle Belt and the core north over the last 56 years cannot stop it. The slaughter of hundreds of thousands of Igbos and the barbaric acts of genocide perpetuated against millions of Biafrans over the last 56 years cannot stop it. The subjugation, dehumanisation, humiliation and outright robbing and pillaging of the people of the Niger Delta area and the southern minorities over the last 56 years cannot stop it.

The castration, demystfication, pacification, infiltration and indoctrination of the people of the south-west over the last 56 years cannot stop it. The consistent and relentless persecution, incarceration, torture and extra-judicial murder of key opposition figures and those that are perceived as being the enemies of our President and his government cannot stop it. The cowardly disposition, shameful collaboration, wilfull collusion and resounding silence of our nations ruling elite, political leaders, academics, intellectuals, traditional rulers, human rights activists, businessmen, industrialists, artists, writers, poets, actors, entertainers, entrepenuers, cultural custodians and political commentors cannot stop it.

Nothing can stand in the way of this new wave and no mortal can successfully resist it. It cannot be stopped, delayed, intercepted or aborted because it has been decreed and ordained by the Ancient of Days and the Lord of Hosts.

Locking up Colonel Sambo Dasuki, Sheik Ibrahim El Zak Zaky, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu or any of the other thousands of political prisoners and prisoners of war in underground dungeons and dingy dark cells for months and years on end cannot stop it.

Bringing them up before the courts on trumped-up, contrived, malicious, spurrious and baseless charges cannot stop it. Telling the nations young that they dare not aspire and the political opposition that they dare not dissent cannot stop it. Nothing can stop it because it is written in the wind and it has been pronounced and spoken into existence by the oracles of the Living God.

The unleashing of fear and terror and the inflicting of violence, carnage, brutality and barbarity on innocent and defenceless men, women and children by the Armed Forces and security agencies cannot stop it. The conspiratorial silence, submissive acquiesence and covert collusion of our nations media cannot stop it. As a matter of fact nothing, no force on earth or in hell, can stop it.

For the voiceless, oppressed, cheated, marginalised and afflicted people of Nigeria the bells of freedom are ringing and it is either liberty or death. And today I speak for those millions as I dare to proclaim, just like the great American patriot Patrick Henry once dared to proclaim in his famous speech to the Virginia Convention 291 years ago whilst calling for armed resistance against the British colonialists

Knicks’ Anthony Playing Through Bad Shoulder Injury

Featured Image

New York Knicks Carmelo Anthony has revealed he is playing games through a bad right shoulder injury that requires constant attention.

The small forward has been dealing with the injury for close to four weeks and had to sit out a game last month.

“It’s bad,” Anthony told the New York Daily News after the Knicks’ win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night. “You know what it is; it’s an adjustment that you have to make on the fly. Like some days it feels good; some days it’s tight. Throughout the course of the game — certain shots, certain moves — you feel like the strength isn’t there. So it’s just a matter of figuring out how to play through it. What’s working? What’s not?

“It feels good during the game. And then you irritate it. And then you kind of have to work backwards again to get it back stronger. But I’m constant, around-the-clock treatment.”

“The only thing that’s going to help [the shoulder] is rest,” Anthony told the newspaper. “But we’re playing every other day. It’s a tough month.”

Anthony added that he has no plans to sit, so it will be up to coach Jeff Hornacek and the team’s medical staff to hold him out.

“Not yet. Not yet,” Anthony said of potentially missing a game. “Especially now when we’re in the grind and in the thick of things, and we kind of have a chance to get back above .500. And we have some teams that we feel that are some winnable games. So that decision is … they’re going to have to tell me to take a couple off because I’m not doing it.”

Guardiola: I Make Mistakes

Featured Image

Pep Guardiola has admitted a couple of his decisions since taking over at Manchester City have not panned out.

The catalan has been criticised for tinkering with his formations and playing players out of positions.

And Guardiola has admitted to making some mistakes, and insists he’s not trying to change Premier League football, but trying to understand it.

“Sometimes I have an idea: three at the back or play a player like this. And sometimes it did not work and when that happens it is always the manager and I never complain to the players,” Guardiola told reporters.

“Because when I see them training, how they suffer and what they did in the last game against Burnley after 65, 70 minutes with 10 against 11, two days later after Anfield. They want to do that.

“You have to look at yourself and see what [you] have to do to help them find each other and play to each other more fluently, not all the time with [aggression] and all these kind of things. That is my job. I have to help them. And I tell them. And most of the times we were not good, it was my responsibility.

“And at times my ideas were not good, because I am still in the process to know the players, to know what is the best position, the best way to play, to adapt to them. I am not going to change England and I do not want to do that.

“Of course, it is going to change me. That is why I came here, to be changed. That is nice. When I do all my career the same thing, 15 or 20 years as a coach, it is boring. I come here and I said a thousand million times, I try to adapt to English football in the way I believe you can do that.”

Kerr And Green Unhappy With Fourth Quarter Collapse

Golden State Warriors suffered a collapse in the fourth quarter of the home loss to the Grizzlies, much to the distraught of Draymond Green and Steve Kerr.

The Warriors blew a 24-point lead to lose 128-119 in overtime, they could only manage 13 points in the last quarter.

“Our fourth-quarter offense has been atrocious, and I don’t know if you could see,” Green said. “Everyone only notices in losses, but I actually pay attention to things when we win also.”

In the midst of the offensive lull, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said he noticed something.

“I didn’t like our body language,” Kerr said. “That’s the main thing. I thought we were playing a really good, solid game through three quarters. We were taking care of the ball and defending, but the fourth quarter, once they made that run, our body language was bad. That can’t happen, and that bothered me.”

Even though it was a colossal, embarrassing meltdown, Green said he was relieved they picked up their sixth loss of the season.

“I’m actually happy we lost today because there’s some things that we need to correct in order to win a championship, and that’s our goal,” he said. “So trying to win every regular-season game really don’t matter. I want to see us get better each and every time we step on the floor, and I don’t feel like that’s been happening for the things we need to get better at. So I’m kind of thrilled that we lost because you usually make corrections when you lose.”

Conte: I Won’t Coach As Long As Ferguson Or Wenger

Featured Image

Conte had praised Sir Alex Ferguson as a role model, but does not see himself coaching that long, as he looks to retire at a young age.

Michael Emenalo, Chelsea’s club director hopes the Italian coaches the club forever, but that’s not in his plans.

Ferguson won 13 Premier League titles and two UCL trophies in his career as manager before retiring. And Conte respects the length he and Wenger has stayed in the business.

“You are talking about two monsters, two great managers,” Conte said at a news conference at Cobham Training Centre. “For me, fantastic managers because Sir Alex Ferguson is a good example for me.

“When I see him, but also when I see Arsene, they are a big example for me. I hope to have not completely their career, but 10 years, yes. It’s enough for me.

“Twenty more years? Now I’m 47. I prefer that my wife doesn’t listen to this. This is our life. Football is our life, with this pressure, with all. Football is our life and it’s right to continue to live in football. In the moment that football is not in our life, I think probably we die.”

Conte’s rival at Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, recently stated that he can’t see himself working in the game for decades, with pressure mounting on his club after poor performances across December.

Guardiola has moved to clear the misconstrued statement pertaining to his retirement. And Conte symphatises with his colleague.

“I have great respect for Pep and I think that when you have a method, when you have a philosophy of football, an idea you want to bring in every team you manage, you spend a lot of energy,” he said.

“And sometimes it can happen that you are a bit tired, more tired, in some periods. Above all when you were a footballer and and then quickly you became a manager. You spend a lot of energy.

“Not just physical energy. Also mental energy. In some moments it can happen to think this. I’m sure that Pep wants to continue for a lot of time.

“I can’t justify him about this, because the manager, if you want to do this work with all your strength, you waste a lot of energy, physical energy and mental energy, and sometimes it can happen that you think this.

“I think Pep, his work is fantastic. When you decide to do this work it’s because you like this. You like to have this pressure that is enormous. We need this.”

Wenger On Handing Giroud Captain Armband: He Has Shown Leadership Qualities

Featured Image

Arsene Wenger decided to make Olivier Giroud captain in the match against Preston North End and he says it is a reward for his patience.

The France international continued his good form, as he scored in a fourth consecutive match, scoring the winner in the FA clash.

The forward has struggled for game time so far this season, starting in just three league games.

Wenger explained his surprise decision to name Giroud as his captain, saying the 30-year-old had led from the front despite his lack of game time.

“I named him captain, I like to rotate the captaincy,” he said.

“He went through a period where he was of course in discomfort because he didn’t play and during this period that was quite long.

“He kept his focus and worked, I think he has shown leadership qualities so I made him captain today.”

Ramsey equalised in the second half, before Giroud scored the winner in the 89th minute after being set up by Lucas Perez.

“He scored recently many goals. In the squad, everybody contributes. It’s not about 11 and he is at the moment in good form,” Wenger said of Giroud.

“So for one month he scores goal after goal.”
