Spalletti Praises Nainggolan’s Influence

Featured Image

Roma manager Luciano Spalletti has praised midfielder Radja Nainggolan and says he represents the next evolution of the footballer.

The Belgium midfielder scored two stunning goals in the 3-1 win over Inter Milan , keeping them seven points behind Juventus.

Spalletti has praised Nainggolan’s versatility and commitment and says he could have a team full of Nainggolans and he’ll be happy with it.

“He is a player who is able to do everything,” Spalletti told reporters ahead of Wednesday’s Coppa Italia semi-final against city rivals Lazio. “You can ask him everything and he can do it.

“I have seen [the media] trying to find adjectives to describe him or ways to compare him to others. One of the descriptions or headlines about him could be: he is the evolution of the football player because you can win with 10 players like him.

“You can have a terrific team. His position is not important. You can have an amazing team with 10 Nainggolans.”

Zidane: Jese Is A Formidable Player

Featured Image

Zinedine Zidane has praised a former player of his, Jese Rodriguez, ahead of facing the Las Palmas side he is playing now.

Jese has been at Madrid for a while and came through the youth ranks and would have established himself as a regular in the senior squad, however he was sold to PSG, who later loaned him to Las Palmas.

Although Zidane sold the former Spain Under-21 star, he remains respectful of his talents.

“He’s a formidable player with enormous potential,” Zizou told the media. “He’s a Spanish player of great quality. I like him a lot as a player and as a person.

“I hope that his decision to join Las Palmas pays off – starting from Thursday. I hope from then he can do great things with them.”

The Champions League-winning coach believes there might be a simple explanation why he did not shine in Ligue 1.

“In Paris, things did not go as he would have wanted, maybe because he didn’t have the minutes he required on the pitch to impose himself,” Zidane said.

“Now I with him all the best starting from Thursday, and that he rediscovers his best level because he’s a formidable player.”

Jese has played four times since returning to La Liga, but has been in the losing side on each occasion.

Enrique: It Will Be Naive To Say Barcelona Don’t Depend On Messi

Featured Image

Luis Enrique, Barcelona manager says it will be quite naive to act like his side does not depend on the individual brilliance of Lionel Messi.

The Argentina forward has scored three goals in the last two matches to help secure wins in the matches against Leganes and Atletico.

Messi, happens to be one of the Barcelona players who has remained consistent all season.

“It would be naive to think that we do not depend on the best player in the world,” the Barca boss told a news conference. “I hope we can depend on him for many more years.

“I still consider him as more of a forward. Sometimes he spends more time in midfield to help us in terms of numbers but I don’t think it matters if he’s spending more time in midfield or up front. What matters is his form.

“The key to all of this is to be effective in defence and attack, not only one or the other. We’ve always spent more time and effort trying to attack than do things defensively.

“I don’t talk about what happened after one game or the other. We look at a season as a whole picture. We’re not at the end yet.”

Supreme Court Affirms 14 Years Jail Term For ‘Female’ Human Trafficker

Featured Image

The Supreme Court has affirmed the conviction of a human trafficker, Martina Opera, who has been sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for same offence, after over nine years of legal tussle, Daily Sun reports.

Opera’s trial and journey to prison began in 2008 when she was arrested by operatives of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

She was thereafter charged to court on a nine-count bordering procurement and movement from place to place of three girls; using and offering girls for prostitution in the country.

Opera was specifically charged for deceitful inducement of girls to go from Calabar to Sagamu and confinement and detention of girls for prostitution.

According to prosecution, the offences are contrary to sections 15(a) and section 19(a,b, and c) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Law Enforcement and Administration Act 2003 (as amended in 2005).

On April 2012, Justice R. N. Ofili Ajumogobia of the Abeokuta division of a Federal High Court had found her guilty of the charges and sentenced her to 14 years imprisonment with hard labour.

Not satisfied with the judgment, Opera approached the Court of Appeal, Ibadan Division which in 2014 in a unanimous decision dismissed the appeal for lacking merit.

Still not satisfied with the Appeal Court judgment, she went further to the Supreme Court.

In its unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Mary Odili, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal and affirmed the decisions of the lower Courts.

Featured Image

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has declared that with effect from this year (2017), candidates awaiting results would no longer be eligible to apply for the Universities Tertiary Matriculation Examination, (UTME).

This disclosure was made in a statement issued by its spokesman, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in Abuja on Tuesday, February 28, 2017.

According to him, the apex exam body had concluded all restructuring and reforms and is now set to commence the sale of its application document in March.

The restructuring exercise will now allow for only one choice of public university in which new registration platform will now be first choice, second choice, third choice and fourth choice and not most preferred, preferred choice.

According to him, the restructuring was aimed at expanding the opportunities available to candidates since almost all the public universities do not consider candidates on the second choice list because they hardly exhaust their first choice.

He said, “We have designed a Central Admissions Processing System where the Board will interface with the institutions and ensure the compliance of this reform. The summary is that no candidate will be admitted with awaiting result.

Candidates and their parents are also to note that JAMB has restructured the registration platform to allow for only one choice of public university. The new registration platform will now be first choice, second choice, third choice and fourth choice and not most preferred, preferred etc as it was.

“Candidates’ first choice can be a College, University, Innovative Enterprises Institutions or Polytechnic/Monotechnic. However, if a candidate makes a Public University his first choice, he will not have any public University to choose for second, third and fourth choice. He will have on the remaining three choices, a College, Polytechnic, Private University and IEI’S. However, candidates for the 2017 UTME can now select National Certificate in Education (College) or National Diploma (Polytechnic/Monotechnic) as their first choice up to third choice and the fourth IEI. They can select the IEI (Innovative Enterprise Institution, ND) as their first choice up to the fourth choice, but can only pick a public university once.”

The Belgium international has a contract that will expire in 2019, and he has been continually linked with a move away from Everton.

Klopp Admits They’re Fighting For Their Futures

Featured Image

Jurgen Klopp says the situation at Liverpool is getting worse and he and his charge are playing for their futures.

Liverpool lost again on Monday, losing 3-1 to Leicester City, four days after Ranieri was sacked.

Liverpool have only won two of their 12 games since the new year in all competitions and have dropped 14 points behind Chelsea. Klopp says the situation is getting dire with every loss.

The German said after the latest defeat: “It’s getting more serious now. We all play for our future, myself included. We get judged every day, especially on match days.

“Of course performances have influence on these things. I don’t think they aren’t as good as I thought, but I think they need my help more to show it every week.

“I feel maximum responsible because I am. I hope I use the word ‘we’ and not ‘they’ because I’m involved in this.

“It doesn’t get better. It was not good enough in the beginning, not good enough in the middle and in the end. It was 100 per cent clear what happened with Leicester tonight. Back to their roots, their line-up was clear.”

“It was clear how emotional the game was because if Leicester didn’t show emotion it would be really strange. It wasn’t that intense but we weren’t ready for this,” he added.

“We could have done much better. We let them be the Leicester of last year – that’s our fault. We should get criticised. This inconsistency makes absolutely no sense.

“It’s not the moment to make assessments like this, especially not in public. But to say the truth, and I try to say the truth as often as possible, bad performances don’t help anybody, that’s clear.”

President Buhari Will Be Back In Nigeria In Three Months – Primate Ayodele

Featured Image

Founder and General Overseer of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Babatunde Elijah Ayodele, said God has shown him where the country’s next President will come from.

He also added that President Muhammadu Buhari will return in 2 to 3 months from his vacation but his return will not make any difference as the country, according to him, will continue to shake and Buhari’s health condition will not allow him do anything reasonable for Nigeria.

Speaking to reporters yesterday, Primate Ayodele said “As a Christian, I am taking the prayer for President Buhari’s health to the Sultan’s palace in Sokoto because his death will cause troubles to Nigeria’s democracy.”

“When the president returns, his government will continue to fluctuate, this is almost certain. Buhari has a good vision for this country, but his health condition is his bane.”

“He will be back in approximately three months.”

“At the moment, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo is doing really well and can do better but will have a lot of challenges because there will be a lot of political games that will be played with the position. The right people to do it will be held to ransom. Right now, the Lord has given me some names of people that will take Nigeria forward, but I am not revealing them just yet. Those jostling now are not even part of them. Let us pray that we do not disintegrate as a nation.”

“The Lord told me that there is a need to act on the presidency because, like I told you some months ago, there is a curse on the seat of the president since the time of Tafawa Balewa, and if this is not reversed, there is no one who will not have one misfortune or another. The people in power should take note.”

“Fridays and Sundays should be dedicated to prayers for the Villa and this is the role of all religious leaders in the country.”

“2019 will break northern Nigeria and the All Progressives Congress. Makarfi will not get justice at the Supreme Court while Atiku will return to the PDP and most of the people there who want to contest will not get a ticket. The former vice president may not achieve his mission there because Sheriff has a mission.”

“I see a new party, a kind of strong alliance is coming; it is neither PDP nor APC”.  Saying that the next President would not come from either the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, or the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Klopp: Liverpool Have Work To Do

Featured Image

Liverpool suffered an heavy 3-1 defeat to Leicester on Monday, prompting Jurgen Klopp to say they have work to do.

Liverpool’s hope of finishing in the top four, hit a snag, after losing to a Leicester side that didn’t have Ranieri to coach them.

Liverpool had not played a match in two weeks before then and the loss to Leicester made Klopp’s men look like they were not prepared for the encounter.

“It looked like we hadn’t spoken about the strength of Leicester and that’s a real problem,” Klopp told Sky Sports.

“We have to work, obviously, and to try to do everything better next time.

“The performance from the first second was not good enough, and that’s how you lose football games. There is no reason for this. I’m not ready to look for an excuse.”

“We never really got going tonight,” Klopp added. “It’s difficult to find the right words.

“There was not an over-aggressive game from Leicester, but even for this level we were not physical enough.

“They were ready, they had their set pieces and throw-ins ready and we gave throw-ins away like we hadn’t spoken about them.

“It doesn’t make sense to give Christian Fuchs 20-odd chances to throw the ball in. It’s difficult to accept.

“They scored the first goal, that helped them a lot, then the second goal, where there was no protection to Drinkwater’s volley.

“We could have defended better so it’s very disappointing. It’s difficult to explain in German but in English, it’s worse.

“The manner of the defeat makes it worst. If we played our best game and lost, then I have to accept that because that is football.”

Facebook’s Chief Product Officer In Nigeria To Speak At Social Media Week And Meet Local Entrepreneurs And Creatives

Featured Image

Chris Cox, Chief Product Officer at Facebook, is in Nigeria, to speak at Social Media Week in Lagos about the future of media, and to meet with Nigerian entrepreneurs and content creators.

Nigeria is the first stop on a week-long trip to West Africa where Chris will visit Nigeria, Ghana and Senegal to learn about the challenges and opportunities people in the region face so that Facebook can better serve the region’s content creators, entrepreneurs and developers.

Inspiration for content creators at Social Media Week

During his talk at Social Media Week — the region’s premier new media and social media conference — Cox highlighted Nigeria’s status as a hub for innovation and creativity because of its fast-growing mobile technology sector and its vibrant film and music industries. He focused on how the world is moving to digital video, with formats such as virtual reality, live video broadcast and 360 video giving people new ways to tell their stories.

“Stories matter, whether it’s the stories of our lives or the story of Africa’s growth and ascendance” says Cox. “We want Nigeria’s storytellers — the musicians, the filmmakers, the novelists — to take their stories to the rest of the world. The explosion in mobile video and live video, gives people a new way to share their story and perspective with the globe – and this is happening on Facebook.”
Cox talked about how creators like Femi Kuti are using Facebook to bring fans into their lives and extend their presence beyond the stage and recorded media. He also discussed how innovators like Afrinolly – the creative hub where technology meets art — are using virtual reality and 360-degree video to create exciting and compelling new storytelling formats.

Building on Mark Zuckerberg’s 2016 visit

Chris Cox is the most senior Facebook executive to visit Nigeria since Mark Zuckerberg visited Lagos in September 2016. He arrived in Nigeria on the 26th of February and attended New Afrika Shrine to see Femi Kuti, one of his musical heroes. Femi’s hour long set was streamed via Facebook live to the world and Chris was honoured to be invited to play keyboards for one song.

“I’m looking forward to hearing more about how Nigerian creatives, developers and entrepreneurs are using mobile technology, video and Facebook platforms to create inspiring applications and services for their customers and communities,” says Cox. “The level of innovation we see in this market is amazing. As Africa’s most populous country, Nigeria is an important market for us.”

Facebook accepts local currency payments in Nigeria

When Mark Zuckerberg visited Nigeria, one of the requests he heard was for businesses to be able to pay for advertising and other services in Naira. In response, Facebook has started accepting locally issued Nigerian Naira cards from new advertisers for payments on its ads platform.

“With 8.6 million people in Nigeria using Facebook on mobile every day, Facebook is a great place for businesses to reach their customers and market their products and services” says Cox. “We’re listening to our community of partners, developers, advertisers and content creators to understand what we can build to best serve their needs.”

Starting on 8 March, Facebook will kick off Boost Your Business, a series of free training sessions designed to help thousands of Nigerian small business owners understand how to leverage digital platforms for growth. The sessions will be facilitated by trainers led by She Leads Africa in key cities including Lagos, Kaduna, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Ibadan.

OPEC Reveals How Nigeria, Algeria, Others Lost $1tn Revenue To Oil Crash

Featured Image

The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), has revealed that Nigeria, Algeria and other members of the Organisation lost a cumulative revenue of about $1tn as a result of the crash in crude oil prices – which lasted from 2014 to 2016.

The Secretary General of the OPEC, Dr. Mohammed Barkindo, made this known at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources during a visit to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, in Abuja on Monday.

He added that the crisis in the oil sector was the worst ever in recent memory, adding that the industry globally lost about $1tn during the period of the oil price fall.

“In terms of the gravity of this cycle, crude oil prices have crashed by over 80 per cent from the fall of 2014 through January 2016. How you survived as a government and institutions under this industry remains a miracle. I’ve been to other countries and I saw how they are struggling, but you have weathered the storm,” he said.

Barkindo, however, explained that the shut-in of about 1.8 million barrels of crude oil per day within a period of six months by the 13 OPEC and 11 non-OPEC members paid off considering the rise in crude oil prices.

He said, “This industry globally has lost nearly $1tn in terms of differed projects and outright cancellation of projects across the supply chain: upstream, midstream and downstream. And this is the greatest threat that is facing future security of supply. We need consistent investments to maintain current production as well as grow the reserves.

“In terms of national revenues, since all our countries are dependent on this commodity, within OPEC alone, we have lost cumulatively about $1tn. Therefore, we, together with our OPEC friends, are determined to solidify this platform to maintain a stable environment and restore confidence for investors.”

18 Boko Haram Fighters Killed While Searching For Food

Featured Image

The gallant troops of the Nigerian Army have killed no less than 18 fighters of Boko Haram sect when the insurgents invaded Kumuya village in the Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

It is understood that the militants of the Islamic death cult had attacked the village to steal their food.

However, a gun battle subsequently ensued between them and the troops, leading to the death of 18 casualties.

Confirming the incident, a top source at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja said a community leader alerted the army when the terrorists invaded on the village.

The source said, “There was a call from the community that the terrorists were around the area to unleash mayhem, including ransacking people’s houses for food. The information was so accurate because when the troops got to the location, the Boko Haram members were taken out. Eighteen of them were killed.

“The Boko Haram members are hungry and they are coming to some remote villages to attack residents and to look for food. But this time in Kumuya village, luck ran out on them and they were killed by the troops.”

Speaking about the casualties, the Director, Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar, stressed that the Boko Haram sect had been dislodged, but a fraction of it was still desperate to remain relevant.

He said, “The killing of the Boko Haram insurgents in Kumuya is true. We want people to always give the military timely and accurate information so that we can continue to maintain peace and security.

“All efforts are now geared towards reconstruction, resettlement and rehabilitation of the communities displaced by the sect.”

President Buhari’s Health Condition

President Buhari’s Health Condition – Prof. Femi Williams

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

Dear Fellow countrymen

It is our constitutional right to know the health of our President. It is a moral prerogative to be concerned about our President’s health. The physical and mental well-being of most presidents in the world are usually not shrouded in secrecy because details of  the health of current and past presidents in the developed world are in the public domain. Speculations about the health of some of our leaders should not be subject to benign or malignant analyses by medically qualified and non-medically qualified pundits.

This letter was written by Prof. Femi Williams. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

Permit me to congratulate the photographer who took the picture of President Muhammadu Buhari that was published in The Guardian newspaper of Friday, February 24, 2017. This photograph  showed the face of the President and the back of both of his hands. It is a universally acceptable and common exercise in medical education to use such photos in arriving at a preliminary clinical diagnosis albeit subject to clinical history, more laboratory tests and clinical examination.

As a board certified physician in internal medicine and a board certified physician in Anatomic pathology from London and Ireland, I hereby venture to throw some light on this invaluable photograph that may allay the fears of all the concerned citizens of this nation and in the Diaspora.

My negative findings, based on this single photograph are as follows:

1) The President is not dehydrated;

2) The President is not clinically anaemic;

3) The President is not clinically jaundiced;

4) For his age, there are no wrinkles on his forehead indicative of good preservation and nutrition; and

5) The national costume does not permit a superficial assessment of whether he has lost weight or not.

My positive findings based on this single snapshot are as follows:

1) The photograph shows some degree of clubbing of the fingers;

2) the photo shows a small nodule on the lateral aspect of two fingers and one of these bumps has a hyper-pigmented  rim  suggestive of an infective aetiology (cause) in the recent past;

3) there is mild reduplication  of skin over the knuckles (not enough for elastosis);

4) there are multiple transverse opacities on the nails particularly of the left hand suggestive of an infection, viral or other infections.

The summary of these positive findings suggest that if the clubbing of the fingers are not congenital, the President may have a disease associated with finger clubbing, some of which are not serious and some of which are serious and cannot be speculated upon. The most serious of these is cancer somewhere.

One relevant question to ask is whether the President smoked cigarettes at some point in his life. Furthermore, the multiple opacities in the nails suggest some infective pathologies at different times as these opacities appear layered in disposition. The little bump on the finger with a hyper-pigmented rim is benign and suggests a previous infection or even an insect bite. In my opinion, there may be no cause for alarm if the finger clubbing is something he was born with. If not, there may be cause for alarm if the underlying cause is a serious disease and there are many to consider.  The significance of his past history of an ear infection is worthy of further investigation as head and neck cancers may masquerade in a number of ways.

It will be in the best interest of all concerned for more information to be released as extended requests for sick leave make the prognosis to be suspect. For those who may wish to be more enlightened on finger clubbing, there are several references on the Internet and textbooks of medicine.

Finally, I may be wrong as this synopsis is based on a newspaper snapshot which is presumed to be of recent vintage. In that case, this is not meant to mislead the public but to fill a huge void in the absence of reliable information.

Hazard: Chelsea Know What To Do

Featured Image

Hazard is confident Chelsea has the experience needed to remain top till the end of the season and claim the title.

Chelsea are 10 points clear of second placed Tottenham, but that could reduce to eight, if City wins their game in hand.

Conte says theu still need 29 points to win the title, but Hazard does not see the blues faltering.

“We are professional. We won the league two years ago so we know what to do,” the winger said.

“We have been first for a few months, we want to stay at the top and we have to take it game after game.”

Hazard has only scored once in his last eight Premier League games, but he’s not concerned about that.

“For me it is the same if I score, don’t score or assist,” he said.

“Even if I don’t make an assist or score goals – if I play a good game and we win, I will be the first man happy on the pitch.”
