West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has revealed his admiration for Joe Hart, but has insisted he is not currently thinking about making a move for the England goalkeeper.

It is believed that West ham are interested in signing the 29-year-old in the summer once his season-long loan spell with Serie A side Torino comes to an end.

“We are heavily linked with every player looking for a move. I rate Joe Hart really highly as a great goalkeeper and personality,” Bilic said. “On the other hand, if there is one position that I am not even thinking of changing it is goalkeeper because I have two great ones.”

Rafa Benitez Won’t Quit Newcastle Despite Not Making Any Signings In January

Featured Image

Rafa Benitez has insisted he will not walk away from Newcastle after the club failed to make any signings during the January transfer window.

Rafa Benitez had been hoping to sign former Magpies winger Andros Townsend from Crystal Palace on Deadline Day, but a deal failed to materialise before the close of the transfer window.

“We have finished the transfer window and we have a good squad and I have confidence in them. My priority is to make sure we are ready for the next game against Derby, that’s it,” he said, who signed a new three-year deal in the summer.

“I will not quit, I will not leave because I am happy or not happy. I am ready to fight and to try and get the three points in the next game to get promotion at the end of the season.”

“I have a compromise, especially with the fans as they’ve been pushing from the beginning to help me enjoy my job,” he added.

“I am just trying to make sure the players, the staff and everyone is pushing in the same direction. So, we need the fans and the experience with this club has been quite complicated for the fans, owner, players and staff.

“We cannot make the same mistakes. We all have to push in the same direction and at every game, with everybody available, that we are giving 100 per cent.

“At the end of the season, I expect us to win promotion and we will enjoy and be happy. We cannot be blaming each other now after the transfer window, we have to be sure that we concentrate on getting three points from every game.”

Frank Lampard In Talks With English FA Over Coaching Role

Featured Image

Former England midfielder Frank Lampard is liaising with the Football Association about a career in coaching, PA Sport understands.

The ex-West Ham, Chelsea and Manchester City midfielder called time on his medal-laden, 21-year career on Thursday.

Lampard left Major League Soccer side New York City FC at the end of last year and is now working towards his coaching qualifications with help from the FA.

Press Association Sport understands the governing body made contact with him shortly after moving to the United States in the summer of 2015, presenting him with coaching options and the way it could help.

The 38-year-old hinted at a future in management when announcing the end of his playing career on Thursday.

“After 21 incredible years, I have decided that now is the right time to finish my career as a professional footballer,” Lampard wrote on Instagram.

“Whilst I have received a number of exciting offers to continue playing at home and abroad, at 38 I feel now is the time to begin the next chapter in my life.

“Looking forward, I’m grateful to the FA (Football Association) for the opportunity to study for my coaching qualifications and I look forward to pursuing the off-field opportunities that this decision opens.”

Pep Guardiola Insists He Needs Both Sergio Aguero And Gabriel Jesus

Featured Image

Pep Guardiola insists Manchester City could not manage without Sergio Aguero, but says the club need Gabriel Jesus too.

Aguero, 28, has scored 18 goals in 25 appearances for City this season but has missed seven games due to two separate suspensions, and Guardiola believes the stakes are too high to rely on just one forward.

READ ALSO – Real Madrid Considering Making A Move For Sergio Aguero

“The big clubs need a lot of strikers,” Guardiola said this afternoon. “Sergio remains the most, or one of the most important players in our squad. Without him it is not possible.

“He played all the games except once in Barcelona for a tactical decision, another one here when he came back from Argentina against Everton. But the other games when he was not banned he always played, and played good.”

Pep Guardiola insists he is happy Jesus’ arrival has led to a selection headache ahead of the visit of in-form Swansea to the Etihad Stadium, and believes there is room to accommodate all his forwards.

“We knew that from the beginning, we have a new player and, with Kelechi [Iheanacho], we have seven strikers, with the wingers,” Pep Guardiola said.

“At the end, this guy arrived, he played good and that is why he is playing. They play together, they play individually, Gabriel can play on the left, now I have many options.

“In the three games he [Jesus] played he showed a lot of things in terms of desire, when we do not have the ball helping us in our pressing, his intensity with the ball, his movement always in the box.

“Even when he comes into the middle to play he has the ability to share the ball with his team-mates. So we are happy. He’s just 19 years old, so it’s a lot to improve.”

Roberto Mancini Wants To Manage In The EPL Again

Featured Image

Roberto Mancini says he is attracted by the prospect of a return to the Premier League.

The Italian has been out of work since being sacked by Inter Milan in the summer, but admits he has had offers from China and would like to return to the Premier League.

And an interview with La Stampa, Roberto Mancini said: “When will I go back to coaching? I can wait a little longer! But the theory is true that after so many years of work then you’ tired ‘to do nothing.

“As soon as I left Inter I had three offers from China, I thanked them but I denied, now I’m more attracted to other leagues, especially the Premier League.”

“Many times my Juventus friends have asked me if I would coach Juventus. And the answer is always the same: yes, because I am a professional.”

Mancini was also asked about Saturday night’s Serie A clash between Inter Milan and Juventus, and said he believes the Hammers are being affected by a poor atmosphere.

He said: “I believe in the Juventus Stadium effect – the stadium gives Juventus seven or eight points more a season. You want to know what happened at West Ham? The new Olympic Stadium does not have the same atmosphere as Upton Park. There there was a different atmosphere, more noise. I realised this a few days ago when I went to see the match against Manchester City.”

“Moussa Dembele Happy To Return Back To Celtic Despite Chelsea Interest”- Bredan Rodgers

Featured Image

Brendan Rodgers insists Moussa Dembele was happy to come back to Glasgow on Deadline Day despite Chelsea being interested in the striker, and joked he told his physio to “stay tight to him” as they flew to London for a scan.

Rodgers told STV: “We had to make sure the physio didn’t lose sight of him down there.

“Ironically the hospital he was in was in Chelsea, believe it or not. So I said to Tim (Williamson), be like Franco Baresi and just stay tight to him.

“But he was happy to come back. He is loving it here. He got some fluid out of his knee, he has had a good reaction to it, so we will see how he is for the weekend.

Chelsea chief Antonio Conte is set to move in the market for a new forward in the summer.

Diego Costa’s long-term future remains somewhat up in the air, while £32million Michy Batshuayi has struggled to earn a regular spot since his summer move from Marseille.

Conte Wants To Get A Win Against Arsenal

Featured Image

Chelsea lost to Arsenal at the Emirates in the first encounter of the premier league season and Conte is drawing motivation from the loss as they prepare for the reverse fixture.

Gunners thrashed Chelsea 3-0 with first half goals from Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott.

The loss prompted a change in tactics for the Blues and they’ve been unstoppable since then, opening up a nine points lead over Arsenal.

“It seems a long time ago, it’s important to remember the defeat against Arsenal,” he said.

“It was a bad defeat. In my mind it’s present, always present. I hope in the mind of our players also.

“It will be very difficult, it’s important to remember that game. A lot of things have changed, but for sure we are a team, we want to have a good game.

“We have nine points [over Arsenal], but if we lose it will be six. We must pay attention.

“We must continue the momentum. We are in good shape, playing good football with intensity.

“If we win the game tomorrow, it’s a good lead.

“I’m sure it will be a really tough game. Arsenal beat us already, they have the possibility to repeat it.

“We need to stay focused, have great concentration, the will to fight, to win.

“I like to repeat to my players to look at ourselves, rather than the other.”

Arsenal suffered a shock home defeat to Watford on Tuesday, but Conte sympathised with Arsene Wenger’s side.

“I watched the Watford game. The final result didn’t tell the truth,” he added.

“Arsenal were unlucky. Watford played very well but Arsenal had a lot of opportunities to draw or win the game. It was a strange result.”

Mourinho Admits United Don’t Score Enough

Featured Image

Jose Mourinho has challenged his men to start scoring often and ease the burden of doing so off Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

United’s 0-0 draw against Hull City, means they’ve drawn six home games and won only five.

United have been outscored bub all their top-six rivals and Mourinho would like his men to convert more in front of goal.

“I have to agree with you that we don’t score enough goals,” said Mourinho. “Some of our players from these attacking creative positions they could – they should – score more goals.

“I understand what you are saying. We attack so much and with so many players, and so many players have the freedom in our dynamic to reach scoring positions.

“When you see the number of goals we score, there is not a true relation between our attacking production and the number of payers we put in attacking positions and the number of goals we score.”

Ibrahimovic, at 35 years old, is comfortably United’s top scorer with 19 goals, 14 of which have come in the league.

Guardiola: Toure Loves To Play

Featured Image

Pep Guardiola believes Yaya Toure is just like an amateur, as he has a passion to want to play games.

The midfielder did not have a good start to life under Guardiola, as he was left out of the UCL squad, with his agent Dimitri Seluk saying the manager has humiliated his client.

Guardiola demanded an apology before he would start Toure, which came later on and the ivorian has been reinstated into the squad.

And after impressing since returning to the lineup, the midfielder has been added to the ucl squad.

“Yaya’s quality is difficult to find today,” he told reporters. “He loves to play – he’s like an amateur. I love this. He is really fit, perfect weight.”

Guardiola also says he is expecting a tough test against Paul Clement’s side, who are just two points off the drop zone but have won their last two games.

“I am really impressed with Swansea. I am trying to find ways we can attack them and I can’t find it! It’s so complicated,” he added.

“They are in a good moment. They won at Anfield and against Southampton – good teams. It will be really, really tough.”

Conte: Title Race Not Yet Over

Featured Image

Antonio Conte has asked Chelsea forget talks of winning the title and focus on their upcoming fixtures.

Chelsea are currently top of the table and nine points clear of second placed Wenger. And Robert Pires believes Arsenal’s Title hopes will be at an end, should Chelsea get the win.

“Anything can happen,” he said. “It’s important to keep the antenna very high. If someone thinks that the league is finished, I’m not so sure.

“I want to have this tension, this right tension. In the past I fight to win the title and I know we must pay great attention. There are 15 games to play and there are a lot of great teams behind us.”

Arsenal were 3-0 up at half-time in September, prompting Conte to ditch his back four in favour of the three-man defence which was his trademark in Italy.

Chelsea have not looked back, but he said: “It’s important to remember the defeat against Arsenal. It was a bad defeat, 3-0 after the first half.

“And in my mind it’s present, it’s always present, this defeat. I hope it’s also in the mind of my players.

“A lot of things changed now. For sure we are a team. We want to have a good game tomorrow.”

Why I Support A Protest Against The Nigerian Government

Why I Support A Protest Against The Nigerian Government, By Femi Akinfolarin

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

Mid-way through Mr. Buhari’s four-year tenure, I find myself now praying that he doesn’t get another term in 2019. It is obvious that his administration is slowly cementing its place in the annals of Nigerian history as a monumental flop. Twice. The two times he has been president have resulted in unbelievable and drastic increases in the misery index of citizens. In fact when one’s administration is compared unfavorably with the abysmal Jonathan administration, then it’s time to count your chips and fold.

This piece was written by Femi Akinfolarin. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of

Mr. Buhari came into office with a promise to rapidly improve the security situation in Nigeria by taking on and destroying the operational capability of the feared Boko Haram Islamist insurgents in the North-East, who had, at some point, taken over more than seven percent of the local government landmass of the country. He indeed succeeded in downgrading the insurgents, but while busy doing that, the scourge of muderous Fulani herdsmen spread rapidly across the country, with many states experiencing attacks as the cattle men felt that it was more profitable to chase farmers from their land than to peacefully cohabitate with them. Up to date, the president has done nothing to decisively deal with this recurrent concern. This morning, we read in the newspapers about attacks on people in Taraba, while Southern Kaduna has been torn apart by killings in the past year. There are no solutions to these issues in sight. Militant activities have surged in the Niger Delta dramatically, impacting the flow of crude oil through Escravos and other terminals. Electricity production has been adversely affected by the impact of the militancy on gas production and distribution to power plants. Crude oil production has dropped from the erstwhile 2.2 million barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels a day, significantly reducing forex inflow at a time the economy needs it most.

Tuface Idibia, Buhari And The Limits Of Activism

The president, seen as personally clean, has been engulfed in a wave of corruption allegations sweeping across his inner circle in the past few months, and showing him as clearly incapable of dealing with this hydra headed monster, particularly in relation to those close to him. However, it’s the return of open corruption in the wider society that has become alarming. For example, a friend told me a story recently about our famed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He had gone to visit a friend of his who had been arrested. On getting to the Okotie Eboh Road office of the Commission, he met security men at the entrance who informed him that he couldn’t enter because it wasn’t visiting time. On observing that other people were being allowed through, he went back, at which point the security men told him to ‘drop’ something. He parted with N2,000 and was allowed in. Once inside, he submitted the name of the person that he had come to see but observed that while other people were brought out, his own friend never appeared. When he engaged the EFCC official, he was told his friend was asleep and that the custom in the place was not to wake sleeping inmates, because it could prove traumatic being aroused from sleep like that. Monies changed hands again and the man was ‘woken up’ to attend to his visitor. All that happened within an institution at the very heart of the anti-corruption campaign! Another anecdote about the Nigerian prison system claims that at the Kirikiri Prisons, once an inmate has paid N65,000, he is moved to a special section where he can cook his own food, have access to Dstv, use a cell phone with data and voice capabilities, and also have access to a warden who can run errands to buy him food at the local mammy market. He can even send for kerosene in order to cook; right inside a maximum security prison! It is now obvious that these corrupt people were initially hiding at the outset of the administration, but have now become emboldened enough to come out of the woods; hence a reversion to status quo, once again.

Lagos Police Vows To Disrupt 2Face’s Planned Protest

Another fatal flaw of the president is his inability to properly manage his economic team. As example, the two largest drivers of Foreign Direct Investment into Nigeria are the telecoms and oil and gas sectors. The flow of oil and gas investments into Nigeria has dried up primarily due to two reasons – the drop in the global market price of crude oil and the needless refusal to pass the Petroleum Industry Bill. Mr. Buhari’s inability to get the bill passed means that oil and gas companies in Nigeria are unwilling to make investment plans for new projects in Nigeria. And, new projects are what translate into an uptick of FDI (forex) into the economy. Two years in and the president is yet to do what really matters.

The budget is another area in which the president is falling short. Last year, we were assailed by a new term entering the governmental lexicon, called ‘budget padding’. The president swore to ensure it never happened again. Yet, he has failed. The new budget has seen a huge growth in the same ‘padding’. As instances: Sewage charges for Aso Rock has climbed from N6.1 million in 2016 to N52.8 million in 2017, without an increase in the number of occupants of the State House. An item called residential rent is also included in the State House budget and has risen from N27.7 million in 2016 to N77.5 million in 2017. Is Aso Rock being occupied on lease? Who is receiving the government’s rent payments?

The final failing of this current administration is the inability to communicate a clear and cohesive vision for the country, dealing with the economy and the national consciousness required to drive us forward to achieving our corporate destiny. When Mr. Buhari was spending so much time campaigning over the last 16 years, why was he campaigning? What did he seek to achieve? What is his idea of Nigeria, and where are his big and audacious plans for our country? Can he paint a picture of the Nigeria that needs to be attained in 2025 to its citizens? For example, if his ambition is that Nigeria becomes like Dubai in 2030, then he would have to paint the picture of what he intends to achieve, and how we will get through our currently economic stagnation to arrive there. Do we need to reduce the number of states in the country to save on costs? Are our federal legislators too many? Do we need to downsize on our expenditures?

2Face Issues Statement On Planned Protest | States Reasons Behind The Crusade

I consider the proposed protest in the country to be apt at this moment and fully support it. While there is the possibility of its being hijacked by miscreants and one is not largely sure of the motivations of the organisers, yet we need to send a strong reminder across to the government of Nigeria that they are not only failing but are obliged to work for us as their employers. They are the employees of every Femi, Chudi. Tomi, Danladi, etc. We put them in power and we have a minimum level of expectations from them with regards to the living standards we expect them to help us attain. So far they are failing us resoundingly and we cannot continue to suffer in silence.

Bring on the protest!

How DSS Stormed FGGC In Calabar, Flogged Teachers For Reprimanding A Student

Featured Image

At least six teachers of the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) in Calabar yesterday alleged that they were beaten in the presence of pupils by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Cross River State Command.

The beating, it was learnt, was because a student was flogged by one of the teachers.

The ‘aggrieved’ teachers alleged that the armed security officials stormed the school premises at about 10am on the invitation of a female DSS official who had come to beat up a teacher for flogging her daughter.

One of the teachers, Mr. Owai Owai, said he was flogged in front of his pupils by the DSS woman and her husband.

Mr Owai, who teaches Civic Education in the senior class, narrated what happened.

According to him,“I was about to teach when I noticed some junior pupils sweeping the classroom of the senior pupils. I learnt that the senior pupils had imposed it on them. It was a wrong precedent because all the pupils had been told to sweep their respective classes.

“I punished the senior pupils who ordered the junior ones to sweep. I gave each of them two strokes of the cane on their palm and one of them challenged me for flogging her. Before I knew what was happening, she telephoned her mother, whom I later learnt was a DSS official. The mother came to the school with her husband and they started beating me.

“They used my own cane to flog me in the presence of the pupils. My fellow teachers came in to stop them, but they were rebuffed. Later, the DSS woman called her colleagues for reinforcement and that was how the school became flooded with DSS officials. They started beating teachers who ran into them.”

Another teacher, Amos Princewill, said the DSS officials took away two mobile phones, a binocular and N80,000 belonging to his colleagues who were molested.

However, in reaction, the State Director of the DSS, Fubara Duke, said, “It was not true that they used guns. What happened was that there was a mistaken identity somewhere. Our people responded to a call from them and on getting there, a group of hoodlums that had earlier gone there took to their heels.

“Meanwhile, a parent had gone to the school to complain that her daughter was beaten up by a teacher. She (the parent) was mistaken to be among the hoodlums and some teachers from the school pounced on her. They even attacked a DSS official. I have complained to the school authorities to take administrative action against what they did to a member of my staff.”

Other teachers, who claimed to have been beaten up when the school later became flooded with DSS officials, identified themselves simply as Ndarake, Inyang, Udoh, Agba, Njor and the college’s Chief Security Officer, John Ikpeme.

“Arrest Anyone Connected To Boko Haram, Even My 3 Biological Children” | Gov Shettima Tells Security Agencies

Featured Image

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State has charged security agencies in the country to arrest anyone linked to Boko Haram even if they are happened to be any of his 3 ‘biological’ children.

“I strongly say to security agencies, that anyone factually suspected of despicable links with the Boko Haram and other criminals should face justice even if that person happens to be one of my three biological children,” he said in a seven-minute video broadcast on Thursday evening.

In his broadcast, the governor also expressed condolence to families of the victims and pledged continued support to security agencies and local vigilante.

In Borno: Governor Shettima Relocates To Liberated Boko Haram Base

Read full speech below.

My dear brothers and sisters, the people of Borno State,

In recent days and weeks, we have come under renewed attacks which horribly remind us, that our security challenges are still longing.

It is regrettable that this upsurge in cowardly suicide attacks came not long after the patriotic military forces of this country recaptured Sambisa Forest which used to be the operational zone of the Boko Haram terrorists.

It was from Sambisa that these mass murderers used to train, prepare and launch bold attacks on our communities.

Our gallant military and other security agencies have now denied them the use of their former high command.

However, we must remind ourselves that the recapture of Sambisa Forest and the flushing out of the terrorists from most of their former enclaves does not mean that our struggle is over. Instead, the terrorists have resorted in their usual cowardly fashion, to stepping up attacks on soft targets.

Cowardly and vile attacks such as these on schools, places of worship, markets and other soft targets are signs of the terrorists’ weakness and of their desperation to tell their terror co-travellers around the world, that they are not yet finished.

In this criminal endeavour, they resort to the use of teenagers and children as young as seven years.

More recently, they even strap babies on the back of their recruits in order to slip through our security dragnets.

They also use hard drugs on these innocent children who do not know what they are doing when they kill their own parents, relations, and fellow countrymen and women. Many precious lives have been lost, hundreds of citizens including school girls were abducted; many more people have suffered serious injuries as a result of these senseless acts of bloodthirsty enemies of peace.

I once again extend my deepest condolence to the families of all those who have lost loved ones or suffered injuries due to these cowardly attacks.

We pray to Almighty God for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives and for the quick recovery of those who suffered injuries.

In the midst of our pain in these trying times, we must acknowledge the support of international and local humanitarian agencies, development partners and credible NGOs for standing by the good people of Borno State through thick and thin.

Even though we are all saddened by episodes of attacks, as your Governor, I assure you that I serve with a constant reminder that the number one basis of Government is the protection of innocent lives and property.

I know the weight of my duties and the oath I took before you and God.

With your mandate, I have the privilege of first hand security reports and I can share with you, that for every vile attack that the terrorists were able to carry out on innocent lives, many more were stopped by our gallant security agencies, our Civilian JTF, vigilantes and hunters.

As we know, the intention of terrorists is to demoralise us, make us to live in fear and prevent us from going about our normal lives and worshipping our God in ways that differ from their ungodly violence.

We will not allow them succeed in their wish to make us live in the permanent slavery of fear.

Infact, they have failed in their mission because together, we have said no to them.

And in saying NO, we must not let them cause us any more harm.

The Government of Borno State will continue to provide the necessary support to our gallant military and security agencies and volunteers in their patriotic effort to restore peace and security in our ancestral land.

We will continue to take preventive measures by working with community leaders across ethnic and religious divides in all our 27 local government areas to increase community policing. We all have roles to play.

I know that majority of you, the good people of Borno State, have remained sincerely committed to fighting this insurgency. I have met parents who exposed their insurgent biological children and handed them over to security forces to face justice.

I know that insurgents and their allies, often hide their identity so well that good citizens may innocently associate with them. But the bold patriotism of parents who turn in their children has always strengthened our resolve.

This is why I strongly say to security agencies, that anyone factually suspected of despicable links with the Boko Haram and other criminals should face justice even if that person happens to be one of my three biological children.

Support for insurgents is a crime against humanity. I have met parents who encouraged their children to join the Civilian JTF and risk their lives to fight insurgents. I have even met parents who remained contended and proud even after their sons died fighting under the Civilian JTF. I have seen elderly men and young girls organize themselves to join the fight as vigilantes and the Civilian JTF.

I know the sacrifices many citizens have made and it is because of your devotion that I am urging all the people of Borno State to rise up as one and increase our community vigilance, especially around soft targets.

We must remobilise ourselves and step up vigilance and community policing around all our population and community centres like mosques, churches, markets, schools, hospitals, shopping complexes, football fields, social gatherings and motor parks.

We must watch out for strange and suspicious faces, not for the purpose of taking the law into our hands but for reporting these suspicious persons to the nearest security agents for prompt action.

I urge you, the good people of Borno State, not to despair but to rise as one and stand up to this murderous gasp of a dying insurgency.

I believe God is with the non-violent.
May He crown our efforts with the quick rescue of all our citizens still in captivity and May He grant us enduring peace and prosperity!

God bless you!

Klopp Says He Could Flare Up Again

Featured Image

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated his touchline antics against Chelsea could very much repeat itself.

The Liverpool manager was in the spotlight when he was caught shouting at fourth official Neil Swarbick and was lucky to not be punished.

Klopp knows that he could see red again and accepts any penalties that it would incur.

“I can’t give a guarantee that it won’t happen again,” he told reporters.

“I could say now that it won’t but that would be a lie. That’s why there are fines for it. If we go over the top, then give us a fine. It’s right that we should pay the penalty.

“Managers are not by nature the kind of people who want to have a go at the referee. Do you think Arsene Wenger is a person who, when he sees the fourth official, wants to punch him? That’s not how he is and everybody knows it.

“It happens because of the circumstances, not because of the personality. Sometimes you can’t control yourself and you say things like ‘nobody can beat us’. I have never heard a more silly sentence, given that we’d lost the three previous matches.

“And as for how I looked when saying it… I was lucky in the way the fourth official reacted and I hope he didn’t get into trouble because of it. His was the reaction of a human being.”

Toure Still Chasing Chelsea

Featured Image

Yaya Toure has stated he will not give up in his quest to catch Chelsea as he is still looking to win the EPL.

Manchester City beat West Ham 4-0 on Wednesday to get within 10 points of Chelsea,. The midfielder scored a second half penalty.

Pep Guardiola seems to have given up on winning the title, saying the title is Chelsea’s to lose, but Toure is not throwing in the towel just yet.

“When you look at me, I never give up,” Toure, who has returned to City’s Champions League squad on Thursday, told reporters.

“But football is not about the talk outside the pitch it is about what goes on the pitch. We have to perform.

“It is quite difficult for us. Chelsea have been playing one game a week and we are fighting in a lot of competitions so it is quite hard.

“You see the solidity of Chelsea and a win at Liverpool would have made it very difficult for us. But we are not thinking about Chelsea – we are thinking about us.

“Just get the job done, keep it going and perform like we did.”

Toure feels City have a tough task winning the title in the free-flowing style Guardiola demands.

He added: “The manager is a big winner. He not only wants to win, he wants to win in style and that is very difficult in the Premier League.

“We have to do those kind of performances. Normally we play well – but we have to win.”

Guardiola’s men are back in action at home to Swansea City on Sunday.

Hull City Defender Andrew Robertson Believes Marco Silva Has Made Them Better

Featured Image

Andrew Robertson wants to put talk of a transfer to Burnley behind him and believes Hull have turned a corner under manager Marco Silva.

“It is important for everyone, probably more so the manager than anyone else,” Robertson said. “I think for me as well it is important that the talk and all that just goes away. That’s the way you want it, you just want to focus on playing and obviously probably the last 48 hours there has been a lot of talk.

“But I am glad I am here and I am glad I am working under this manager. I am glad he came out and showed his belief in me, which is always nice to hear. Long may it continue and I’ll try and keep improving under him

“He said about how organised he is and how he goes through everything and that’s right,” Robertson said. “We go through absolutely everything and that’s what we need.

“Obviously things weren’t going right this season and he’s came in and put his mark on it straightaway.

“He told us we’d have no days off and he’s not been wrong about that so far! But the boys are happy going in every day. We’re working under him and we’re learning under him.

“I am sure he is learning from us because this is his first job in the Premier League, I am sure he is learning day by day. Hopefully by the end of it, we’ll look back on it and say it’s a successful thing.”

Antonio Candreva Urges Marco Verratti To Consider Inter Milan Switch

Featured Image

PSG midfielder Marco Verratti should head home to Italy next summer and join Inter Milan, according to his international team-mate Antonio Candreva.

Verratti has been linked with a move away from the French champions, with the 24-year-old midfielder said to interest Juventus, Arsenal and Chelsea.

“What would I say to Verratti? I would tell him to come here, absolutely,” he told Italian media outlet Mediaset Premium. “He is a player from another category with a lot of international experience. It is not just me saying that either – everybody knows it.”

Despite the speculation and Candreva’s wishes, PSG will not be keen to let their star leave Parc de Princes, where Verratti is under contract until 2021.

In the short term, Verratti’s current club are worried he will not be fit to face Barcelona in the Champions League knockout stages.

PSG host the Catalan side on February 14, and are sweating on Verratti who has a calf problem.
