Bayern Munich Plotting £30million Move For Celtic Striker Moussa Dembele

Featured Image

Bayern Munich are ready to rival Chelsea for the signing of forward Moussa Dembele.

The Celtic star has scored 26 goals already this season and could command a £30m fee, reports the Mirror.

Dembele, who hails from the north-western suburbs of Paris, made his breakthrough with Fulham and impressed Celtic enough to win a four-year contract.

He was heavily linked with Chelsea on Deadline Day and West Ham have also been tracking him.

However, the chance to join Carlo Ancelotti’s side will give the player plenty to think about and the money on offer will certainly give Brendan Rodgers and his Celtic paymasters a decision to make.

Mourinho: Chelsea Will Pay More Attention To FA Cup

Featured Image

Mourinho believes Chelsea can afford to pay more attention to the FA Cup, due to the fact that they have an edge in the Premier League.

United had to come from behind to beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Ewood Park, with goals from Rashford and Ibrahimovic.

Chelsea won 1-0 the last time they faced United in this stage of the FA Cup and Mourinho feels their 8-point lead in the EPL will give them time to focus on training for the FA.

“Probably Chelsea can only think about that (the FA Cup) because I think they are champions and they have nothing else to fight for,” Mourinho said.

“The FA Cup is something I believe is important for them. I have to play St-Etienne (on Wednesday), I have to play the (League Cup) final, I have to play hopefully another opponent in the Europa League. I have to fight for a top four position in the Premier League. I have so many things to think about.”

“The match is in one month’s time. I don’t want to be speaking about it.”

Cowley Hoping Sutton Beats Arsenal

Featured Image

Danny Cowley, Lincoln City manager is hoping Sutton causes an upset when they face Arsenal tomorrow, as they’ve been drawn to face the winner in the quarterfinals.

Lincoln, who are top of the National League progressed to the sixth round of the FA Cup after beating Burnley 1-0.

Arsenal are the favourites to face Lincoln in the quarterfinals, but Cowley hopes to face Sutton.

“It’s a win-win draw for us. I genuinely hope Sutton can do it tomorrow night (Monday). I think it would be brilliant for non-league football if that is the case,” he told Sky Sports News HQ.

“We wish Paul Doswell and his team well. If that’s not to be then obviously we’ll play Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal at the Emirates, so it’s a great draw.”

When asked what he felt Wenger would be thinking following the draw, Cowley said: “Well he’s got to beat Sutton United first.

“It would probably be similar to the last draw, he’ll probably not know a lot about Lincoln City.

“We’ve been dreaming for a long time now, it’s been about eight weeks. Who thought a non-league team could get to the last eight?

“It just shows that anything is possible in the FA Cup and in football.”

Mourinho: Manchester United’s Attitude Helped FA Cup Win

Featured Image

Manchester United escaped embarrassment from a lower league Blackburn, after coming from behind to win 2-1.

The championship club went ahead in the 17th minute after a fine finish from Graham, before Rashford equalised.

Then Ibrahimovic and Pogba came on to complete the comeback, with Pogba setting up Ibrahimovic to set up a quarterfinal fixture against Chelsea.

“I think the attitude of every player was really good,” Mourinho told BT Sport. “With a different attitude, we wouldn’t win. They gave us a really hard match and I am really happy with the players, of course.”

Mourinho went on to acknowledge the impact made by Ibrahimovic and Pogba, who were introduced just past the hour mark.

“I have important players on the bench and I can try to make them have an impact, but that doesn’t always work,” he said. “I spoke with Paul and Zlatan and they came with the right attitude.”

“We deserved to win, but Blackburn also deserve to go to Old Trafford,” he said. “But they can now focus on a very difficult Championship. A second match at Old Trafford would have been a disaster.

“I think the referees had everything under control and were really calm and even the ball boy to my right was really good.”

Berbatov Looking For A Team

Featured Image

Dimitar Berbatov is looking to continue playing at the age of 36 and is looking for a team to play for.

Berbatov has played for Manchester United and also featured for Tottenham, but has not been with a club since he was released by PAOK in June 2016.

The Bulgarian has also played for Bayer Leverkusen and Monaco and believes he still has a lot to offer.

“I’m trying to find a team, if you want to put it like this,” he told BBC Sport during television coverage of the FA Cup fifth-round tie between Spurs and another of his former clubs, Fulham.

“I still feel good. I train, I keep myself fit. I spoke with Jermaine [former Tottenham team-mate Jenas] before – it’s difficult to let go. So we’ll see.

“It’s all about football. When you’re 36 you just want to play a little bit more. I see players my age – [Fulham’s] Scott Parker is an example – so I can still continue a little bit more.”

Berbatov won two Premier League titles with United and finished joint top scorer in the division with Carlos Tevez in the 2010-11 season.

“Nigeria Now Second Largest Producer Of Rice In The World”

Featured Image

The Presidency has said that “Nigeria has achieved the status of second largest producer of rice in the world.”

This disclosure was made by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja at the weekend at a special interactive session with the youths organized by Citizens Support for Good Governance in Nigeria (SGGN).

The presidential media aide said: “No country will develop when you have to import virtually everything, including tooth pick and tissue paper. All the food we eat in this country was being imported. So, all of the money earned was just going to buy food.

“But as I speak to you now, Nigeria just achieved the record of the second largest producer of rice in the world. The rice revolution just started a year ago. Some of you from Nasarawa know the kind of things going on there. A newspaper did an investigation in Kebbi and they found out that there were 48,000 new millionaires in Kebbi state alone last year for growing rice.

“This over reliance on oil has killed this country and we cannot continue like this. So, the diversification of the economy means more money will be in the hands of ordinary Nigerians. And there will be widespread prosperity all over the country.”

He said the government intended to reach the target of 500,000 jobs this year, having stopped at over 300,000 last year because the economy could not support it.

He expressed happiness that “the economy is getting better, oil price is going up and the policies of government in the Niger Delta are beginning to calm things down”.

Nigerian Army Denies Killing 11 Biafra Agitators In Port Harcourt

Featured Image

The Nigerian Army has denied that its troops killed 11 members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on January 20 during a solidarity rally in Port Harcourt.

While issuing a denial on Sunday, the Army’s spokesman, 6 Division in Port Harcourt, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, said that the army adhered strictly to rules of engagement in spite of provocation from some IPOB members.

Nigerian Army Issues Stern Warning To Social Media Propagandists

He said that troops from its 29 Battalion were only deployed to assist other security agencies to prevent possible breakdown of law and order during the rally.

The statement read: “The attention of 6 Division Nigerian Army has been drawn to a baseless and unsubstantiated allegation by one Emma Powerful, who claimed that soldiers killed 11 IPOB members during January 20 rally.

“The allegation is false, malicious and existed in the figment of imagination of Mr. Powerful, who claimed to be the Publicity Secretary of IPOB.

“Despite all provocative attempt occasioned by the stoning of security agents and smashing of commuters’ windscreen, troops refused to be cajoled to fire a single shot.

“In spite of the provocation, the violent protest was only subdued with the use of tear gas while arrests were made by a sister security agency with no casualty recorded on either side.”

Speaking further, Iliyasu said that the pictures and videos that were posted on Social Media were old materials picked from IPOB archives.

He said IPOB used the pictures and videos as propaganda to attract public sympathy and raise sentiment among citizens in its favour.

The division spokesman said that the army would no longer tolerate any spurious and unfounded allegations aimed at injuring its image and reputation.

“We wish to inform the public that the allegation is untrue and so, should be dismissed as mere propaganda by the separatist group.

“We wish to restate our total commitment to the protection of lives and properties within the division’s area of responsibility.

“To this end, Mr. Powerful and other like-minded mischief makers are hereby warned that the Nigerian Army will no longer tolerate such allegations.”

On January 20, thousands of youths believed to be IPOB supporters had taken to the street to commemorate the election of Donald Trump as 45th President of the United States of America.

Gabigol Paying For Dinner After First Inter Goal

Featured Image

Brazil youngster Gabigol finally got his first goal for Inter Milan and that means dinner is on him.

The former Santos player has not scored a goal for Inter in the six months he has spent with the Serie A club.

However, Gabigol came off the bench to score the only goal in the 81st minute against Bologna to send Inter to fourth on the table.

“In the locker room they said Gabigol would offer a Brazilian-style dinner to everyone when he got his first goal,” Pioli told Mediaset Premium.

“I am happy for him. It was hard for him at the beginning but now he can begin to take satisfaction.”

And the attacker says he will oblige, though he has suggested a more traditional Italian dish.

When asked if he would be taking the bill, he replied: “Yes. How about a carbonara?”

He added: “I’m so happy with the goal, but more so with the victory. It’s a special day for me. I always work hard to help the team and to win.”

Pioli was pleased by his team’s fighting spirit, as they made it nine wins from their past 10 Serie A outings.

“I have a team that believes until the end,” he said. “The right opportunity arrived and we were ready to take it.

“We struggled with an opponent that closed down very well. We had no rhythm and were slow, especially in central areas and did not play as well as we know we can.

“The only feeling at the moment is satisfaction at work well done, in seeing what my players give. We must continue, as we’ve achieved nothing yet.

“It’s true nine wins in 10 games is impressive, but the others are pushing hard too and we need to keep up with them.”

Conte Praises Lincoln For Making It To FA Cup Quarterfinals

Featured Image

Non-league Lincoln beat Burnley 1-0 to progress to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup, a shocker that impressed and reminded Conte of the possibility of losing to anyone in the competition.

Chelsea avoided such a fate when they scored two goals in the second half courtesy of Pedro and Costa to progress to the last eight themselves.

Chelsea beat a wolves team that beat Stoke and Liverpool and they still look set for a cup and league double, a notion that is appealing to Conte.

“This challenge was very tough, but we all knew (that),” Conte said.

“Above all after the result this afternoon (at Turf Moor). I tried to warn the changing room about the difficulty of this game, of this competition.

“It’s important to understand nothing is easy. If someone thinks in the league Chelsea for sure become the champions and in the FA Cup for sure you can win this trophy… it’ll be very difficult.

“But we know that we stay there and we want to try to arrive at the end, to try to win some trophies.”

Conte added: “We were very good to suffer in the first half. Wolverhampton started the game very well with great intensity.

“They hit the post after five minutes and we were lucky. In the second half we played our football, we played very well.

“We scored two goals. Wolverhampton deserve my compliments for the performance.”

Lincoln were complimented, too, with a bow from Conte.

“This is a great achievement for them and also this is the beauty of football and the FA Cup,” he said.

“In Italy, it’s impossible for this to happen. Its fantastic because it shows that football is incredible and anything can happen if you trust in your work, if you have a great will to fight and to take on the challenge.

“I’m pleased to live this story with them. Now we are with Lincoln in the quarter-final. It’s fantastic.”

Bielsa Will Take Over Lille In 2017-18

Featured Image

Ligue 1 club, Lille has announced that manager Marco Bielsa will take over as manager come July 1.

Lille have not had a permanent coach since they sacked Frederic Antonetti earlier in the season.

Bielsa has been out of job since his brief stint with Lazio last summer, he lasted only a few hours with the club.

“Marcelo Bielsa is without a doubt one of the most respected and influential coaches in the work and to bring him to LOSC is an immense satisfaction and proof of the ambitions of the club,” director general Marc Ingla commented.

“It’s no secret, [owner] Gerard Lopez and Marcelo Bielsa are close and have already talked about this opportunity.

“We have always thought Marcelo would be the best person, with his philosophy of football, his experience, his rigour and his professionalism, to build our project and lead Lille to future victories.

“Even if we are absolutely concentrated on the next games and the highly important fixtures to come before the end of the season with Franck Passi, it’s good news that we have announced today for the Lille of tomorrow.”

Lopez bought a controlling stake in Lille at the end of January and was quick to make several signings, including Anwar El-Ghazi from Ajax, with the winger grabbing the winger at the weekend.

“I Don’t Talk To Monkeys” – Fayose Replies Sheriff

Featured Image

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has replied a statement attributed to the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ali Modu Sheriff, where he (Sheriff) was quoted to have said Fayose and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State would be pushed out of the party.

Speaking on Saturday, Fayose said he does not talk to “monkeys.”

Fayose, who doubles as the Chairman of the PDP’s Governors Forum, also wondered who Sheriff would lead since most members of the party were on the side of Ahmed Makarfi, a faction leader of the PDP.

He said, “On that comment by Sheriff that he will kick me and Gov Wike out of PDP, I don’t talk to monkeys. That Appeal Court judgement is just a phase, it will fizzle out. All things will work together for good for me, that’s what the Bible says.”

“All the Governors, National Assembly members, BOT, etc are on this side. So who is he going to be leading?”

“Whether he is being backed by whatever forces, be it external or internal, good luck to him.”

“Let everybody in PDP calm down, there is salvation ahead of us.”

“I’m aware that some people are apprehensive of 2018 but I want to say it here that they should worry not. What I know that will happen tomorrow is that I will get to greater heights.”

“There are three major important factors in elections, the people is number one, followed by the party and the candidate. You can have a party and candidate, if you don’t have the people, you will fail because the power of the people is greater than the power of those of us in power.”

“Here in Ekiti, we have the people.”

“I am saying it here that we are under the leadership of the Ahmed Makarfi led Caretaker Committee.”

“When we got the judgement at the lower court, affirming the Caretaker Committee, Sheriff was still parading himself as the chairman.”

The Arrest Of Audu Maikori And Misplaced Call To Pray For Tyrant By Fani-Kayode

The Arrest Of Audu Maikori And Misplaced Call To Pray For Tyrant By Fani-Kayode

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

Permit me to begin this contribution with an aside.

It is only a weak, insecure, paranoid, wicked, heartless, ignorant, lawless and callous government that refuses to identify, apprehend, prosecute and hang the bloodthirsty, psychopathic and murdering Janjaweed Islamist Fulani militants and herdsmen and instead arrests an innocent and accomplished young man like Audu Maikori who simply had the courage to cry out to the world about the barbarous genocide that the people of Southern Kaduna and members of his ethnic group and religious faith are being subjected to all over the north.

This piece was written by Femi Fani-Kayode. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of

I am convinced that my old friend Governor Nasir El Rufai has lost it. He has literally been driven mad by the power that he now wields. If he wants peace in Kaduna state and in the entire country is this the way to achieve it?

Does he really believe that locking up his critics and those that have expressed concern about the mass murder and crimes against humanity that are being perpetuated in his state by his Fulani friends and kinsmen who he publicly admitted that he sends public funds to is the way forward?

#FreeAudu: Reactions Trail Arrest Of Chocolate City’s Maikori, Over Statement On Southern Kaduna Killings

Does he not know that the suppression of dissenting voices and intimidation will only lead to more anger, resistance, violence and dissent?

Can he not build bridges rather than burn them? Can he not make friends rather than make enemies?

Here is my message to him: the people of Southern Kaduna are NOT your slaves and neither are the northern minorities, the people of the south or the Christians of Nigeria.

You can kill and lock up as many of us as you like: our faith will only continue to grow, we shall continue to go from strength to strength and we shall oppose and resist you till the bitter end.

At the appointed time the Lord will strike back at you for your power show and sheer wickedness and He shall deliver His people.

This brings me to the meat of this intervention.

One of the qualities that a Prince must have is the ability to speak truth to power no matter the price, no matter the consequences and no matter whose ox is gored.

Today I will share a truth which many may not like but which, as a leader and a Prince, I am constrained to share.

Some have suggested that every Nigerian is compelled by God to pray for our ailing President. I disagree. I do not wish him ill or wish him dead but at the same time I do not subscribe to the view that I am compelled to pray for him.

I would rather save my prayers for the thousands of Audu Maikori’s of this world who are suffering persecution and who are languishing in dingy cells all over our country for doing absolutely nothing wrong.

I would rather save my prayers for the souls and families of those that have been cut short by the guns and bullets of government security forces, the bombs of radical Islamic terrorists and the matchetes and knives of the Fulani militias and herdsmen.

When the Holy Bible says we must pray for our leaders the author was referring to God-fearing and Godly leaders and not usurpers and tyrants.

The Bible says we must ‘resist evil’ and few would dispute the fact that with the economy in shambles, with the naira at its lowest value in its entire history, with the level of impunity and corruption in government and with the amount of brutal persecution, politically-motivated arrests and prosecutions and the massive shedding of innocent blood that goes on in our countrt today, Buhari and his Federal Government are pure evil.

As a matter of fact they are a cursed government that have come to do nothing but spread death, disease, poverty, tears, hardship, suffering, division, hatred, persecution, injustice, destruction and wickedness.

To those that insist that even evil tyrants are worthy of our goodwill and prayers I put the following questions.

Would you have prayed for Herod, Pharaoh, Belshazzar, Nebuchadnezzar, Jezebel, Ahab, Athalia, Nimrod, Adolf Hitler or Idi Amin?

Again would you have had night vigils or made passionate supplications for Emperor Bokassa, Josef Stalin, Pol Pot, Nero, Caligula, Sennacherub, King Leopold 11 of Belgium, Count Vlad the Impailer of Transylvania and Tsar Ivan the Terrible of Russia?

Would you have conducted Holy Mass or rolled your rosary for Osama Bin Ladin of Al Qaeda, Muhammed Al Baghdadi of ISIL, Abubakar Shekau of Boko Haram or Usman Dan Fodio of the Fulani Caliphate?

Again would you have fasted and prayed for Atilla the Hun, Genghis Khan, Kaiser Wilhelm 11 of Germany, the Inca and Aztec Kings of South America, the Borgias of Spain, King Darius of Persia and so many more of history’s monsters and beasts to remain alive and to continue to torment and rule their people?

Do you know that those listed above collectively killed or caused the deaths of over 500 million people between them?

Do you really believe that they were God’s choices and that it was wrong to pray them out or remove them from power?

Did God make a mistake when He killed Pharaoh and slew Herod for their wickedness and evil against the children of Israel AFTER their victims rose up in prayer and cried to Him to deliver them?

Did you read anywhere in your Bible that the holy Prophets and believers prayed for the wicked Kings and rulers to continue to rule?

Did Elijah not oppose Jezebel and did David and Samuel not renounce and stand against Saul?

Do you not know the difference between a righteous ruler whom God loves and whom He installed and a blood-sucking demon and vicious tyrant whom the devil is using?

Do you know the number of people this government has killed whether they be Biafran and IPOB youths, Shiite Muslims or Christian refugees?

Do you know the number of Christians that are being slaughtered in the north on a daily basis by Government-backed and protected Fulani militias and herdsmen?

Do you know that Buhari shares some of the barbaric sentiments and evil goals and objectives of Boko Haram?

Do you know that he once said that an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the north? Do you know that he once said that he believes that sharia should be spread throughout the federation?

Do you know thay he once said that Muslims should only vote for Muslims? Do you know that he once said that Christians should not be concerned about sharia because it is the limbs of Muslims that are being cut off and not theirs?

Do you know that he once went to Oyo state and accused Governor Lam Adesina’s “people” (meaning the Yoruba) of killing his own Fulani people?

Do you know that the Minister of Information of his Government, a serial liar by the name of Lie Mohammed, once said that it was wrong and unconstitutional to proscribe and ban Boko Haram?

Do you know that about one year ago the same Liar Mohammed said that Boko Haram had been “technically defeated” and that a few days ago he said that it was “a fallacy” to say that Muslims killed Christians in Nigeria?

This was after 808 Christians were slaughtered in cold blood on Christmas eve and Christmas day a few weeks ago.

Do you know that Buhari is the third Mahdi of Nigeria? The first was Usman Dan Fodio, the second was Sir Ahmadu Bello and Muhammadu Buhari is the third.

Do you know that their vision and dream is for the Fulani to be the “first amongst equals” and to conquer, rule, dominate and subjugate the people and numerous ethnic nationalities that make up Nigeria in perpetuity and “dip the Koran in the Atlantic ocean?”

Do you know that they have gone very far in this quest and almost achieved their objectives? Do you know that restructuring the nation or, failing that, a complete break up of Nigeria into two or more pieces is the only thing that can save the people of the south and the Middle Belt from serfdom and slavery?

Do you know that Herbert Macauly, Bode Thomas, Obafemi Awolowo, Kaduna Nzeogwu, Emmanuel Ifeajuna, Victor Banjo, Fajuyi, Emeka Odimegwu-Ojukwu, J.S. Tarka, Isaac Boro, Solomon Lar, Josiah Olawoyin, Paul Gindiri, J.D. Gomwalk, Silas Janfa, Zamani Lekwot, T.Y. Danjuma, Jolly Tanko Yusuf, Gideon Orkar, Ken Saro-Wiwa, Tony Nyiam, Saliba Mukoro, MKO Abiola, Bobo Nwosisi, Franklin Atake, Alfred Rewane, Abraham Adesanya, Ayo Adebanjo, Olaniyonu Ajayi, Bola Ige and so many others that saw this satanic agenda coming and unfolding many decades and years ago and resisted it with every fibre of their being have now been vindicated?

Do you know that the principle of self-deterimination and the concept of Biafra and southern and Middle Belt liberation is more alive today than ever before?

Do you know that there are millions of youths all over this country today that are prepared to sacrifice their lives for this principle and concept and resist ethnic and religious bigotry, subjugation, domination and tyranny with the last drop of their blood?

Do you know that those that have been subjected to genocide by the usual suspects for the last 56 years of our existence as a nation are now saying “enough is enough?”

Do you know what northern Christians have been and are still being subjected to over the years and particularly today?

Do you know that Igbo youths and Shiite Muslims have been subjected to crimes against humanity by the Nigerian state in the last one year and seven months?

Do you know that Nigeria under President Buhari is a failed state which lives on lies, thrives on deceit, breathes on persecution, feeds on supression, energises on intimidation and is fuelled and propelled by the most basic, crude and primitive form of Goebellian propaganda?

Do you know anything at all? Do you know how many people are being locked up and persecuted in the name of a fake and selective anti-corruption war in this country?

Do you know the level of wickedness and injustice that is being perpetuated by this government?

Do you know how many families have suffered and been destroyed by them? Do you know about the abuse of power and the gross violation of human rights and civil liberties that is going on?

Do you know how corrupt and deceitful thiis government is? Do you know how much blood they have on their hands?

Then you say that we should pray and support such people? There is nowhere in the Bible that we are called to pray for liars, cheats, sadists, anti-Christs, cold-blooded murderers and pyschopaths as our leaders.

Rather the Bible says we must resist evil and injustice and stand up for the weak, the persecuted, the hungry, the suffering, the vulnerable and the poor.

There is no where in the Bible that we are enjoined to support and encourage genocidal maniacs, the killer of believers, the tormenters of the faithful, the persecutors of God’s servants and the destroyers of the Church.

Nigeria has no place for quislings and psychophants that are trying to curry favour with or impress those that are desperately trying to enslave our people and islamise our country.

My position is simple and clear. I will never pray for those who I consider to be evil and I will never allow myself to be subjugated, silenced or turned into a second class citizen in my own country.

Whatever the consequence is for my defiance, if the Lord wills it, let it come. Let us finish this thing once and for all. I would rather be a free soul in heaven than a quivering and gutless slave on earth.

I speak for millions when I say that we will NEVER bow to those that believe that they were born to rule and that seek to impose their faith, their values and their way of life on us.

Unlike others in these shores, those of us that are prepared to stand up and say “no more” are captains of our ship and masters of our soul.

We either forge our own destinies, chart our own course and free our own people or we shall die trying. God wills it. And so it shall be.

The scriptures depict a Samaritan woman who attends the Church of Mount Gerizim. In that church, some members of the congregation have buckets, so they are able to draw water from the well to drink. Others expect to have buckets or are hoping to get buckets. Nevertheless, all the members of Mount Gerizim church are thirsty. However, when they get to church, the pastor promises they will have lots of water to drink.

Dead Church

In Mount Gerizim, some are poor and want to be rich. Some cannot pay their rent and want to be able to do so. Some cannot pay their school-fees and are looking for ways and means to do so. Some don’t have cars and want to buy them. Some don’t have houses and desire to build them. Some are single and want to get married. Some are barren and want to have children. Some are unemployed and want to have jobs. Some are of a low estate and want to be promoted.

The church preaches a gospel that promises that the poor would become rich; the unmarried would get married; the barren would have children; and the jobless would get jobs. But their gospel does not tell the poor how to deal with poverty; it does not tell the unmarried how to deal with being single; it does not tell the barren how to deal with barrenness; and it does not tell the unemployed how to deal with joblessness.

For this reason, most members of Mount Gerizim are frustrated. In the church, by the law of averages, certain people succeed in business every year. Certain people buy cars every year. Certain people build houses every year. But for every person who builds a house, thousands more are homeless. For every person who buys a car, thousands more take the bus.

The situation is compounded because God’s providence ensures that some of the rich in the church become poor, some of the married get divorced, some of the parents lose their children, and some of the employed lose their jobs.

Therefore, the gospel preached in the church becomes a lie. When Job lost his job, the pastor told him it must be the result of his unrighteousness. The rumour went round that Job must have been keeping a mistress. When robbers attacked his trucking company, they said he must not have been paying his tithe. When Job’s seven children died in the Tsunami disaster, they said it must be because of his sins.

The Samaritan woman herself has been so frustrated that she keeps moving from church to church. As a matter of fact, she has had five pastors in the last few years, and the man heading Mount Gerizim now is not even her pastor.

Living Church

But one day, she meets a man called Jesus who is the pastor of the Jerusalem Church. In that church, they don’t serve natural water: they serve living water. When you drink living water, you never thirst again. As a result, people in the Jerusalem Church are not seeking to be rich, to be married, to have children, or to get jobs. In that church, people are simply seeking the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

In the Jerusalem Church, some are rich and some are poor. Some are married and some are not. Some have jobs and some have none. But it does not make a difference because the haves uphold the have-nots: “As it is written, ‘He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack.’” (2 Corinthians 8:15).

As a result, with Jesus as their pastor, they lacked nothing. Everyone was his brother’s keeper. There were no frustrated members. All were full of the joy of the Lord. Even when some of them died in a bus accident, they did not lose their joy. Even when El-Gaddai demolished the Abuja branch of the church, they counted it all joy. Even when some religious fanatics attacked some of their members and destroyed their property, they rejoiced and were exceedingly glad. They joyfully accepted the hands of providence knowing they had a better and more enduring inheritance in heaven. (Hebrews 10:34).

When the people in the Jerusalem church have prayer meetings, they don’t ask for bread or for fish. They ask for the Holy Spirit. When they fast, it is not because they are looking for jobs, money, wives or husbands; but because they are looking for God. At their prayer meetings, they don’t spend time fighting demons and all manner of household enemies. When they have prayer meetings, their emphasis is on worshiping God and fellowshiping with him.

When the Samaritan woman heard about Jesus’ Jerusalem Church, she decided to stop going to Mount Gerizim. In fact, she went about preaching to others about this new living church. Within days, many in Samaria were persuaded.

Jehovah Rophe

But there is yet another characteristic of the church in Mount Gerizim. In the church, the people are sick, blind, lame and paralysed. Every year, a few people manage to receive healing. But this is only because there is a miracle pool beside the church. Once a year, it is believed that an angel comes down to stir the water in the pool. Only those who step into the pool immediately after the angel stirs the water get healed.

How then did this church get so big? They have a terrific evangelism department. They build up the testimonies of the few who get healed every year. People come in their thousands hoping to be one of the lucky few. But for every one person who gets healed, thousands go home frustrated. For every person who gets healed, thousands remain unhealed.

There is one particular man in Mount Gerizim who has been sick for 38 years. In 38 years he has been coming to the church expecting to get healed, but to no avail. It is remarkable that he nevertheless continued to come to the church. The elaborate testimonies of the few healed people kept him coming. But he remained there a very frustrated Christian.

One day Jesus, the pastor of the Jerusalem Church, visited Mount Gerizim and saw this sick man. He asked him if he would like to be healed. The man tried to explain that it was impossible for him to be healed because others always manage to get into the water before him when the pool is stirred. Jesus did not even help him get into the water. Instead, he said to him: “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” Immediately, the man was made well, took up his bed and went home.

As he was walking down the road, some of his pastors from Mount Gerizim challenged him for carrying his bed. They reminded him that he should not be carrying his bed on the Sabbath. But the man refused to listen to them. He insisted that he was only obeying the instruction of the pastor who healed him.

He said to them: “Your instructions could not heal me for 38 years, so why should I listen to you now that I have found the true healer?”;

Two children have been feared dead in a fire disaster that broke out in an Internally Displaced Persons camp in Jere local government of Borno state.

The ill-fated camp, which is located in an area called Khurso Bashir, is only few kilometers to Maiduguri and is one of the unofficial settlements for displaced persons in the host community.

Speaking on the incident, eye witnesses said that the fire, which started on Friday afternoon, spread quickly because the tents were erected with dried stalk which is a highly combustible material.

More than 400 families were reported to have lost their homes to the disaster before men of the State Fire Service arrived the scene to prevent further spread.

Sources at the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), said some of the IDPs are from Marte and Mafa areas of the state, while others are migrants from smaller villages and the state capital.

Survivors of the misfortune have blamed the incident on one of their fellow IDPs who was said to have been roasting groundnuts when the fierce wind blew embers from the fire she lit to the thatched shelters.

Unfortunately, the children could not be rescued from the flames in good time.
