Mourinho Worried About United’s Home Form

Featured Image

Jose Mourinho has admitted that Manchester United’s poor form at home could harm their chances of making it to the UCL.

United were held to their seventh draw in 14 home games and struggled to find the winning goal against 10-man Bournemouth.

Rojo put United ahead, only for King to score a 40th minute penalty and equalise. Ibrahimovic missed a penalty to put United ahead and the Red Devils struggled to find the winning goal against a 10-man side.

The result means Mourinho’s men are still sixth on the table with just 12 games left in the league.

When asked if he is worried home form will cost United a top-four place, he retorted: “Of course, of course.

“If you look at the points we lost at home – I don’t speak about the Man City match – all the other matches we drew.

“If you accumulate these points, you are talking about 10 or 12 and with these points we are not just speaking about the top four, we would be speaking about the top two or top one.

“We lost too many points at home and obviously cost us our position.

“Are we dead in relation to the top four? No, we are not dead. We are not dead. There are matches to play, points to win, points to lose, points to fight for. We are not dead.

“But the reality is that we are losing too many points at home.”

Guardiola: I’m Pleased With Aguero’s Form

Featured Image

Pep Guardiola says he has a good relationship with Sergio Aguero and has praised his fine form in the 2-0 win over Sunderland.

There have been talks of a frosty relationship between Aguero and Guardiola and it got worse since Gabriel Jesus took his spot since his arrival from Palmeiras.

However, he has returned to the lineup and has scored five goals in three appearances in all competitions.

Guardiola told Sky Sports: “I am, and I was from the beginning [of the season], very pleased with the performances of Sergio.

“I know when a huge player doesn’t always play there is always a debate, like ‘why, why, why?’

“But we have an exceptional relationship; we are honest with each other and I said to him when Gabriel came that in that time he was good and I wanted to give him continuity, but in the future they will both need to play and be fully fit.

“[Aguero’s] goals are so important for us. The last game against Huddersfield he played awesome, scored two goals and [on Sunday] he scored another.

“He helped us a lot in our game and our build up, so again he was brilliant. Really brilliant.”

Siem De Jong Wants A Chance In The EPL With Newcastle United

Featured Image

Siem De Jong is continuing his return to form at PSV and is hoping to return and impress in the EPL with Newcastle United.

The midfielder joined Newcastle in 2014, but was ruled out for five months with injury after spending just three weeks in the EPL, he could only make four appearances, as a collapsed lung ruled him out even further. The Dutch was in and out of the squad, as they slipped to championship football.

De Jong moved back to the Eredivisie, joining PSV on loan and even though he is yet to nail down a starting spot, he has been a decisive player for the club.

“This summer I will have conversations with Newcastle United and I hope they give me a new chance to show what I can do,” he told Goal. “For me it’s important that they get promoted back to the Premier League.

“It’s difficult to follow Newcastle’s matches in Netherlands, but every week I check the results and try to stay in contact with the people over there.

“I also stay informed on Twitter and i’m still a member of the What’s App group chat with Newcastle players.”

Though PSV’s chances of silverware this season are slim as they sit eight points adrift of Eredivisie leaders Feyenoord, Newcastle are sitting five clear at the top of the Championship having beaten the second and third placed teams in their last two games.

Kane Feeling Better After Brace Against Everton

Featured Image

Harry Kane has continued his fine form against Everton, scoring a brace and has warned the premier league he is far from done.

The England forward is in impressive form and scored a brace in the 3-2 win over Everton to put them seven points closer to Chelsea.

Kane’s brace means he has 19 league goals this season, with Alli scoring the third goal and Lukaku and Valencia scoring one a piece for Everton.

“I feel sharp, fitter than ever so I need to keep it going,” he said after the match. “Every time I go out there I want to score goals.

“We did so well, controlled the game – at 2-0 up it probably should have been three or four.

“It was a nervy last 10 minutes when they scored – 2-0 is a dodgy scoreline. When Dele scores you think it is over and then they scored again. But we deserved the win and are very happy.”

“We want West Ham to win against Chelsea on Monday – we don’t normally say that [about West Ham],” added the 23-year-old, who went on to discuss his long-range goal.

“It is funny – me, Christian and Eric were having shots from that distance in training on Friday. It was a bit windy and I thought if it could get a little wobble it would go in. I am happy it went in.

“I definitely wanted the match ball again and I had chances which I should have scored.

“There was one chance first half I probably should have scored and second half I dinked one but should have just put my foot through it.

“I will take the two, but slightly disappointed not to get another match ball!”

Sergi Roberto has made it known that Barcelona are still with outgoing manager, Luis Enrique.

Luis Enrique announced this week that he’ll be leaving Barcelona at the end of the season, after spending three years at the club.

Barcelona are currently top of the table after a 5-0 win over Celta Vigo and Roberto plans to give him a good farewell.

“We are with Luis Enrique until the death, even if he is leaving,” Roberto told the club’s official website.

“We are still in three competitions and we have to fight until the end.

“For him and the way he works, he will give everything until the end and we want to do the same for him.”

Barca must overturn a 4-0 first-leg deficit to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday if they are to maintain an interest in the Champions League while they will meet Alaves in the final of the Copa del Rey in May.

Following months of speculation in the media community, Adele has finally confirmed she is married to Simon Konecki, her long-time partner and father of her son, Angelo, at a concert.

The singer was on stage in Brisbane, Australia, talking about her track Someone Like You, when she said, “I’m married now”.

Adele confirms she is married to Simon Konecki

Video of her talking about being married to Konecki has been shared on social media.

In a video obtained by The Sun, while speaking on stage about writing her world famous track Someone Like You, she told a rapturous crowd:

”I could see in their eyes as they were listening to it on their headphones that it reminded them of something or someone and that’s what I wanted to remember.

“How it was I felt at the beginning of the relationship that inspired that record, because as bad as a break up can be, as bitter and horrible and messy as it can be, that feeling when you first fall for someone is the best feeling on earth, and I am addicted to that feeling.

“Obviously I can’t go through with those feelings because I’m married now. I’ve found my next person.

“But that feeling, when you first meet someone and everything about you just feels alive for the first time. I wanted to go back to that.”

It is understood that it was during her Album of the Year acceptance speech at last month’s Grammy Awards in LA that Adele revealed she had finally married her long-term partner.

But the news reportedly infuriated members of her family, who were said to be anticipating joining the chart-topping singer for summer nuptials.

A source told the Mirror: ‘Adele and Simon have a big family but some of those closest to them weren’t aware of any impending wedding and were shocked to hear one might have gone ahead.

‘They feel disappointed if it’s true. They understand they’re a private couple but are surprised to see them potentially cut out their loved ones.’

It has since been reported that Adele and Simon tied the knot late last year while they were in the United States.

James Rodriguez has once again stated his desire to remain at Real Madrid, despite talks of his future at the club under speculation.

The forward has not been a regular starter under Zinedine Zidane, throwing major doubt over his future.

James has been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea, but the Colombia international wants to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“When I am given opportunities I always try and do well. This is all I think about,” he told reporters.

“I want to always be here. It’s clear that in life and football you never know what is going to happen but I want to remain here.”

James was able to feature in the win over Eibar due to the absence of Bale and Ronaldo.

“It’s always a plus to have such great players,” added James.

“If the BBC [Bale, Benzema and Cristiano] is available, it’s always going to be important.

“We are a close-knit group, together, and this was very much reflected on the pitch.

“We’re united as always, we’re a healthy group with some incredible people. We always come out to win.”

DPR Seals 13 Fuel Stations In Akwa Ibom

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) on Sunday said it had sealed 13 fuel stations in Akwa Ibom for selling petrol above the N145 per litre pump price.

Bassey Nkanga, DPR Controller for Akwa Ibom and Cross River, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Eket that the stations sold petrol for N180 between Feb. 22 and 27.

Nkanga, however, said that some of the affected filling stations had paid the fines imposed on them but were still under seal because they were serial offenders.

“Paying the fine does not guaranteed that we will unseal them. If you are a serial offender, we can decide to shut down your station for a while,’’ he said.

He warned petroleum product marketers in the state to desist from selling the product at odd hours, threatening that those involved would be sanctioned if caught.

The DPR official added that the department would continue monitoring filling stations to ensure that the products were sold at the approved pump price.

Reus Ruled Out Of Action Till April

Featured Image

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that attacker Marco Reus will be out of action till April with a thigh injury.

The 27-year-old was removed from the match against Bayer Leverkusen late in the first half and Dortmund has confirmed a muscle rupture in his left thigh and he’ll be out for at least a month.

Reus missed much of the start of the season, with a groin injury and has only played 11 games for Dortmund this season.

“This is sad news, he’s been playing at a high level for weeks. That is a huge loss for us that definitely clouds this victory,” the coach said.

Nevertheless, Dortmund coped well without Reus on Saturday, as they ran out 6-2 winners in a thrilling encounter, with four of their goals arriving in the second half.

Bad Governance In Nigeria: Who To Blame?

Bad Governance In Nigeria: Who To Blame?, By Yohanna Bwala

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

Arguably, Nigeria has the funniest electorate of any nation in the world. Come election season, the credibility of a candidate standing for elections to any office in the land is gauged on the basis of the size of his/her campaign war chest. Politicians running for elections go as far as renting crowds at campaign rallies, all in the bid of having a temporary feeling of being the most popular candidate. Because such crowds are sort of a mirage, in order to reassure themselves of electoral victory, the politicians go further by spending huge sums of money on the electoral umpire – INEC, traditional rulers, religious leaders, voters, party leaders, and thugs loyal to the party.

This piece was written by Yohanna Bwala. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

Asides the fact that Nigerian politicians spend their way to political offices during campaigns and elections, the foundation upon which elections stand – the voters register – is in most cases faulty. The credibility of an election rests largely on the credibility of the voters register; not only the casting and counting of votes. I was elated by the introduction of the card reader machine during the 2015 general elections, believing it would take care of those multiple registrations that survived the filtration process of unifying the voters’ record on INEC’s database.

Just like every man made system in the world, the card reader has revealed its own vulnerabilities, which our politicians – with the help of INEC insiders – exploited in order to bypass the electronic verification process. Doing so aided multiple voting: whereby a sizable number of the electorate willingly sold their votes to the highest bidder, under the supervision of INEC poll officials, election observers, party agents, security agents, and the general public.

In areas where that proved impossible, the violence option was activated; using thugs loyal to the candidate and his party. The snatching and stuffing of ballot papers into ballot boxes was rampant, nationwide, resulting in unnecessary injuries and deaths. As widely alleged, where cash inducement from political parties was substantial, original results of elections were handed to politicians by compromised INEC Staff, even before the deployment of staff and electoral material to the field, thereby rendering the outing an exercise in futility and a total wastage of taxpayers’ money.

What am I driving at, and what is the correlation between elections and bad governance? Our politicians are not omnipresent beings. They cannot be everywhere doing everything, all at the same time. To manipulate the system, they need the cooperation of every stakeholder in the electoral process. Compromising election stakeholders requires huge sums of money. Remember, our politicians are not aid workers, neither are they related to Santa Claus. Whatever they spend during elections is spent with the hope of recouping such funds with interest after being sworn into office; while the unsuccessful ones end up being miserable after the elections.

Their only hope of surviving until the next political cycle is by decamping to the ruling party, be it at state or national level. Our political parties are basically run like kitchens; once the cooking and dishing out of food stops, no one bothers visiting the kitchen anymore. The party in power then becomes the love of every ‘patriotic’ politician in the land.

Whatever religious belief/moral code you live by, there is a basic principle that governs life and the consequence of one’s actions: The Principle of Sowing and Reaping. Whatever one sows, one is bound to reap in multiples of same seed when it’s harvest time. Take our electioneering campaigns and general elections as the onset of the rainy season. Our politicians are the farmers and we the electorate are the ground upon which they plant their political seeds. As the successful ones at the polls spend their way into office, they get to enjoy the fruits of their electoral labour – the bountiful harvest of our commonwealth. Whereas we the electorate are left to wallow in misery: wondering what our crimes were, for God to “curse” us with the type of politicians we have. Are we really being sincere with ourselves? The truth is: our politicians are not aliens. They come from families, communities, and nationalities. Whenever it is election season, before collecting that bag of rice, salt, motor bike, face cap, mobilisation money for campaign rallies, recharge card PIN, free seat for pilgrimage to the Holy Land, and money for your votes, just know that what you are collecting is an advance overdraft for that road/water/electricity project your community is in dire need of. Have you ever asked yourself why our political office holders always find it hard paying workers’ salaries months after general elections?

As we come together in unison condemning budget padding and the theft of bailout funds and other related monies by our legislators and executives, both at the state and federal levels, we should also know that, good or bad, what they are doing to us and the generation of Nigerians unborn is guided by the principle of sowing and reaping. So long as they anticipate yet another cycle of high-spending electioneering campaigns in 2019, we should expect many more cases of budget padding and primitive looting of our commonwealth. And after recouping what they spent during the 2015 elections, it’s only natural that they go further into saving for the future, knowing that the only way to find themselves in the good books of the electorate come 2019, is by outspending each other – a basic survival instinct. And how can they steal a kobo from the treasury, without the cooperation of our civil servants in the various ministries across the nation? We can’t keep selling our mandate to the highest bidder and at the same time expect good governance.

Whenever we complain about the impunity of our political office holders, we should also acknowledge the fact that their sense of entitlement and impunity were given to them through our choice(s) at the polls. When someone ‘buys’ himself a position in government at a premium, it’s only logical that that person exercises the power of that office to the fullest value, for money spent. You can’t sell a car to person and still dictate to him which colour he paints it or which road to drive it on and which not to. The amount of money spent by our politicians at the polls is inversely proportional to the quality of governance to be delivered to the citizenry while in office.

Bellew: I Broke My Hand In The Win

Featured Image

Tony Bellew has revealed he suffered a broken hand in his win over David Haye at The O2 on Saturday.

Bellew claimed a win in the 11th round of their bout, with Haye sustaining an Achilles injury in the sixth round and fought till the 11th round, before Shane McGuigan threw in the towel.

The WBC cruiserweight won his first fight as a heavyweight, and says he was hampered by injury in the early rounds.

“It’s damaged and it’s swollen. I did it in the second round, I hit him with a hard right hand to the body and two straight into the solar plexus. I could see him physically deteriorating round by round,” Bellew told Sky Sports News HQ.

“I just knew it was going to come and forget the injuries. I came into this fight with a dodgy right knee, I done this in the second round (broken hand) and I can’t explain the pain I have been through in this camp.

“I have done about 20 rounds with [Dereck] Chisora and he is not in there playing tick, he is in there trying to take my head off. He said on the final day of camp, ‘I can’t believe how physically strong you are’.”

Bellew already challenged Wilder and Hearn says Parker called him about a possible fight.

“Parker is a fight I can win. And so is the Wilder fight. In all honesty, these heavyweights are slower than me and I am a guy who is not known for his speed,” Bellew said.

“I say this and I keep harping on about this, when they watch me on tape, when they look at me fighting, I look so easy to hit, I look slow, I look ponderous, but when they get in the ring with me it’s a whole different ball game.

“It’s like their worst nightmare has come true. David Haye came out in that first round and was sharp, loose and relaxed. Soon as I hit him with a left, his eyes widened and I knew I got his respect immediately.

“I said before the fight I have three goals. One, to get home safe to my family, two, win at all costs, and three, nothing else matters.

“I don’t know what’s next. I am the most proud WBC cruiserweight world champion that there has ever been. So I have to give that some consideration first, but a part of me says I would defend and unify tomorrow.

“But why should I defend and unify when there’s 20 times more money in these heavyweight fights? I am going to sit down with my advisers, Eddie [Hearn] and Dave [Coldwell] and formulate a plan.”

Bellew had harsh words for Dillian Whyte, who said he’ll lose to Haye.

“Dillian Whyte was the guy saying I was going to get blasted. He was saying I was going to get smoked,” he said.

“So Dillian pipe down, you are domestic level. That’s the only thing I have got to say to Dillian Whyte. Go have a fight with Del Boy (Dereck Chisora), that’s the best fight I have seen live.

“Don’t talk about me, you said I was going to get blasted, those were your words – ‘Tony Bellew can’t handle David Haye’.

“Tony Bellew has just dealt with the single biggest punching heavyweight in the world. He hit me and I said ‘And what?’. Bring it on.”

Troops of the Operation Lafiya Dole have captured 14 Boko Haram terrorists and neutralised many others in Borno state.

The Army embarked on clearance operations at Chikum Gudu in Northern part of Borno on Friday when they captured the terrorists.

Nigerian Army Loses 31 Soldiers To Boko Haram Insurgency In February 2017

Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, the Director of Army Public Relations, said on Sunday in Abuja that the troops captured many arms and ammunition from the terrorists during the operation.

“Unfortunately, four soldiers were wounded in action and they have been evacuated to medical facility where they are receiving treatment,’’ he said.

Usman listed arms captured from remnants of the insurgents by troops of 8 Task Force Division to include two Toyota gun trucks.

He said the insurgent stole trucks from Niger Republic Defence Forces.

Usman said the troops also recovered two Toyota Hilux gun trucks, one of which the insurgents earlier took from 153 Task Force Battalion of the Operation Lafiya Dole.

Others, he said, were 25-horse power Yamaha outboard engine, two solar panels and five empty belts of anti-aircraft guns ammunition links.

He said the troops recovered one gun bipod, 12 pairs of Boko Haram terrorists’ fighters uniform, five flags, 37 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, 84 copies of Holy Quran and 270 books on Islamic literature.

“3.67 Million Nigerians Lost Their Jobs Between 2015-2016”

Featured Image

Recent figures obtained from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) have shown that over 3.67 million Nigerians lost their jobs between October 2015 to September 2016.

Further analysis of the report on unemployment within that period of time showed that the number of unemployed Nigerians rose from 7.51 million in the beginning of the October 2015 to 11.19 million at the end of September 2016.

The report added that while the number of those employed rose from 55.21 million in the beginning of the fourth quarter to 69.47 million as of the end of September, the labour force population rose from 75.94 million to 80.66 million.

A breakdown of the 3.67 million unemployed Nigerians showed that about 522,000 people became jobless within the fourth quarter of 2015; while 1.44 million people joined the labour force in the first quarter of 2016.

For the second and third quarters of 2016, further analysis of the unemployment report of the NBS showed that about 1.16 million and 550,000 people entered the labour market in search of jobs.

The NBS report explained that unemployment rate was highest for persons in the labour force between the ages of 15-24 and 25-34.

The report also stated that unemployment and underemployment were higher for women in the third quarter of 2016.

“Given that the nature of rural jobs is largely menial and unskilled, such as in agriculture, unemployment is more of a concern in urban areas where more skilled labour is required.

“The unemployment rate in the urban areas was 18.3 per cent compared to 11.8 per cent in the rural areas, as the preference is more for formal white-collar jobs, which are located mostly in urban centres,” the report said.

Speaking on the unemployment rate in the country, the President, Institute of Productivity and Business Innovation Management, Mr. Remi Dairo, said the harsh operating environment may have been responsible for the development.

He said, “The huge number of unemployment is a reflection of the current economic realities as only few businesses are growing and employing while many others are shedding jobs.

“The lack of productive skills in both the private and public sector is one of the major reasons for the country’s underdevelopment and there is need for a comprehensive education policy that would help to address the skill gaps in the country.

“In order to close the existing gaps in skills between the extant programmes of educational institutions and the requirements in the industry, the government needs to restructure the educational system to meet the present and future needs of the country.”

Oriol Romeu has emerged as a surprise target for Barcelona after a string of excellent performances for Southampton, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The 25-year-old Spaniard is being touted as an ‘alternative option’ to Sergio Busquets who has struggled for form this season in the heart of midfield.

Romeu started his career with the Catalan club before moving to Chelsea in 2011 in search of first-team football.

Romeu has always impressed when he’s been able to string games together and with 24 Premier League games played already this season, added to by 11 more matches in other competitions, the midfielder is having a settled, and therefore successful, season.

Bellew Wants Wilder Next

Featured Image

Tony Bellew has said he would like to face Deontay Wilder, a proclamation that has been backed by his promoter, Eddie Hearn.

The WBC cruiserweight champion already has his eyes set on being a two-weight champion, after beating David Haye inside 11 rounds of his heavyweight debut.

Hearn told Bellew post-fight: “If you beat Haye, who professes to be one of the best heavyweights in the world, then Deontay Wilder or Joseph Parker – why not?

“One of the biggest fights in British boxing history [Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko] is April 29 – I believe Britain can have two world heavyweight champions because I believe he can beat Wilder and Parker. Why not?

“People have been writing him off for his whole career.”

Bellew: The Feud With Haye Is Over

Featured Image

Tony Bellew recorded an amazing victory over David Haye and called an end to the feud between him and his bitter rival.

The British pair have been caught in a war of words in the build up to the fight, but there was respect between them after Bellew won with an 11th round stoppage, with an ankle injury hampering Haye.

Bellew did not rule out the possibility of a rematch, but says it’ll be on his own terms, a notion Haye agrees with.

“I have so much respect for David as a fighter,” Bellew told Sky Sports Box Office.

“It was genuine people, I really wanted to beat him and he really wanted to beat me. David, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, because really I’ll be honest he could have picked an awful lot of different guys and he picked me. He can come again, and we can do it again. Who wants to see it again?

“I said he was a diva, but I think I might turn into something like that now. The salt and pepper is on my side of the table now. We have got to come and play with me. I am the man in demand. I am the most valuable heavyweight in the world outside of the champions.”

Haye refused to bring up his injury, which had hindered him since the sixth round, and instead gave credit to his conqueror.

He said: “Tony is a great fighter, that’s what went wrong. I trained great, I felt good going into this fight. I wanted to do a demolition job but this guy has got the heart of a lion. I did not expect him to have the chin and durability he has. You took my best shots and got back up and put me down.

“I’d love to do it again. I loved it, the fans loved it. I’ve never been in a fight like that before. He beat me now fair and square. I can’t think about world honours, I need to get past this guy.

“I’m at his mercy, there is no rematch clause. That’s the best fight I have ever had. It felt like a ‘Rocky’ film. He won the fight fair and square and if he would oblige with a rematch I’d love that.”

Life 101 talks about a gang of four childhood friends who leave their high school years behind and head for the university. This is a story about life, love, laughter and tears, with friends who always manage to get into trouble.

We are introduced into the worlds of Deji, a brilliant ‘mad scientist’ with a wild imagination; Sade, the pretty tomboy with a passion for dancing who discovers the complexities of love and relationships; Tobi, the good-looking, sporty, gifted footballer and instinctive lady-killer who is studying the wrong course but doesn’t seem to care; and Frank, the rich boy with huge musical dreams.
