Shakespeare On Leicester Winning UCL: Why Not?

Featured Image

Craig Shakespeare is full of hope, as he believes the foxes can win the champions league, should they overcome Sevilla.

Leicester City play Sevilla in the second leg of the UCL last 16 on Tuesday. They lost the first leg 2-1.

And Shakespeare believes their away goal advantage, courtesy of Vardy is a plus for his side.

Asked if Leicester can win the Champions League, Shakespeare said at his pre-match media conference: “Why not? We are in it. We have to try and be competitive every game.

“There is a great opportunity for us [against Sevilla] and we will give it our best shot.

“We have to compete for the 90 minutes or extra time. We have practiced penalties and we try to leave no stone unturned. By the way the penalties were good!

“We knew by getting the away goal it gave us a great opportunity. We give ourselves a great chance.

“It makes it very interesting. It will be a special occasion and the atmosphere will be electric.

“We are not going to be open but I want to play on the front foot. Hopefully I will stay calm so the players are not overemotional, but of course I will be excited.

“Sevilla have huge experience in Europe. I will expect them to play the same way. They have talented players. It is more about the players than me pitting my wits against [Jorge Sampaoli].”

Hearn: Bellew Still Has A Fight In 2017

Featured Image

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has said Tony Bellew will box again this year, after claiming victory in his debut as heavyweight.

Bellew beat Haye in the 11th round of their March 4 clash, with the Londoner sustaining an Achilles injury in the sixth round, before Shane McGuigan threw in the towel to put Haye out of his misery.

The fight had an effect on both fighters, as Bellew claimed to have broken his hand and also placed some uncertainty on his future.

However, Bellew’s promoter Hearn told Sky Sports News HQ on Monday that ‘Bomber’ will fight again this year, with a possible rematch against Haye among the options.

“We’re going to fight this year, 100 percent,” said Hearn.

“Like Tony [Bellew] said, the decision will be made by him and his family and it’s my job to present the opportunities to him. I believe the Haye rematch will be one of those opportunities.

“Part of Tony Bellew wanted to beat him fully fit. There are some unanswered questions.

“It was an epic event, it was a thrilling fight but the Haye rematch certainly remains one of the biggest fights out there for both guys.

“For Haye the only fight out there is the Tony Bellew rematch. For Tony there’s the Haye rematch, there’s Joseph Parker, there’s Deontay Wilder, there’s Tyson Fury, there’s plenty of options.”

Carrick: We Are Getting Closer To Chelsea

Featured Image

Manchester United sit 17 points behind Chelsea on the table, but this doesn’t stop Carrick from believing the gap between them is closing.

Chelsea host United in the FA cup, five months after beating them 4-0 in the Premier League earlier in the season.

Carrick insists United are not out for revenge, but believes they’ve improved since the last time they faced Chelsea.

“You can’t say we have got a score to settle,” Carrick told reporters ahead of a game which is expected to see United without Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Wayne Rooney as well as the suspended Zlatan Ibrahimoivc.

“There is plenty has happened over the years so it is just a new game and a chance for us to go further in the competition and they will say the same.

“We have lost only one in 28 games now since that Chelsea defeat so we have had a good run of form.

“They have gone on a great run so you have got to respect what they have done. It is not easy in this league to go on such a run.

“We have gone on a good run ourselves but we have just had too many draws at home and that has killed us.

“We feel that we are getting closer but you have got to respect them, they are a good team, they are well drilled.”

Carrick continued: “It is a massive game, a one-off game, so we are looking forward to it. We are in pretty good form ourselves and they are obviously having a great season so far in the Premier League.

“They have been able to field pretty much the same team all season which I think has helped them and they have not had European competition to worry about.

“But they still had to go out and get the results and they have done that so you have still got to respect them for that.”

The Real Reasons For The 2012 Dana Airline Crash Have Been Revealed

Featured Image

According to reports that came in on Monday, the 2012 Dana Air Crash which unfortunately claimed 159 lives was caused by  mechanical failure and pilot error.

The reports which were released by the the Accident Investigation Bureau said two engines on the doomed Dana Air flight from Abuja, failed before it crashed as it approached the Lagos airport.

“Engine number one lost power 17 minutes into the flight, and thereafter on final approach, engine number two lost power and failed to respond to throttle movement on demand for increased power to sustain the aircraft in its flight configuration,” the report stated.

The “inappropriate omission of the use of the checklist and the crew’s inability to appreciate the severity of the power-related problem, and their subsequent failure to land at the nearest suitable airfield” also contributed to the crash, it added.

Investigators said “lack of situation awareness, inappropriate decision-making and poor airmanship” were also to blame for the crash which occurred on June 3, 2012.

The Dana Air crash is the second worst accident in Nigerian aviation history, after the Kano air disaster of 1973 which took 176 lives. The Dana aircraft was carrying 153 passengers and crew when it crashed into a densely-populated area in the north of Lagos and burst into flames. Six people were killed on the ground.

Nigerian aviation authorities suspended Dana’s operating licence on June 5, 2012, two days after the crash but it was briefly allowed to resume operation in January 2013 after meeting some safety standards but did not start full operations until the following January.

Gary Rowett Close To Being Appointed New Derby County Manager

Derby have made an approach to Gary Rowett about succeeding Steve McClaren as manager

Rowett has been out of work since being sacked by Birmingham in December.

Derby will move quickly in making an appointment – they want the new man in charge before Saturday’s East Midlands derby against Nottingham Forest.

Talks between Derby chief executive Sam Rush and Rowett’s representative are planned for later today.

Derby sacked McClaren on Sunday night after less than six months in charge. It is the second time in three years that the former England manager has been dismissed by Derby.

Rowett’s reputation as one of the country’s finest young managers was forged at Burton Albion, who he helped into the Championship.

The 43-year-old then impressed at Birmingham before being inexplicably sacked and replaced by Gianfranco Zola.

Other Reasons Why The Naira Is Worthless

Other Reasons Why The Naira Is Worthless, By ‘Tope Fasua

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

Until recently, the naira at N520 to $1 was one of the most worthless currencies in Africa. Now that is something. So much for being the largest economy in Africa. Size should count for something, shouldn’t it? Yet there are many ‘experts’ who still swear on their dead grandmas’ graves that the ‘naira is overvalued’ and needs to ‘find its true value’. These guys – many of them ‘intellectuals’, and many trained abroad – are clamouring for even more devaluation. Every financial news item I have read in the course of this month and the last carried comments from some ‘smart Alec’ or the other that they expected – and still expect – a devaluation of the naira.

This piece was written by Tope Fasua. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

I concluded a while ago that perhaps everything we were taught in economics in university is either wrong, misleading or simply out of context. For instance, a test I conducted with university students recently, revealed that they are still being taught ‘Land’, ‘Labour’, ‘Capital’ and ‘Entrepreneurship’ as factors of production, up to the Masters level, in an era in which ‘Talent’, ‘Intelligence’, ‘Information’, ‘Data’, ‘Knowledge’, ‘Technology’ and others are now more important factors of production! The idea that Land, Labour and Capital are the only important factors of production belongs in a distant past; an era of crude, slow manufacturing and service delivery. So the world of economics has changed but we haven’t.

Some of our best ‘economists’ are convinced that the elixir to Nigeria’s economic heart failure is on the shelf in the nearest economic pharmacy. They do not bother to do a proper and critical diagnosis. For them there can be no peculiarity, and they look so aghast when anyone argues – given empirical evidence – against the terminologies and theories that they have learnt in school. You hear them say things like ‘it is demand and supply, simple’, ‘markets are perfect’. ‘It’s all about data, simple’. Simple? No, not simple. It is complicated.

A serious manager of the economy must be abreast of developments, and not be caught unawares. With your hands, you can improve your destiny. As a matter of fact, that is the only method for choosing a destiny. It is not about command and control. It is about showing up and being relevant; it’s about getting involved. The story is told of that person who went to a diviner to tell his destiny. He was told to drop a tortoise. If it went right, his future will be great. Left, and his future will be awful. He dropped the tortoise and it went right.

He was elated. After a while, the tortoise abruptly changed course and decided to head left. The guy panicked, picked it up and dropped it towards the right. The diviner told him he had done the right thing; your destiny is in your hands. Even in matters of economics, don’t be deceived; our destiny is slam bang in our hands. So, note that markets are grossly imperfect, especially in an environment such as ours.

We’ve been burnt so many times by the markets. Even globally, governments have had to put taxpayers’ funds in markets to keep them afloat. Banks, automobile companies, airlines and other companies that should die as a result of the verdict of the market have been kept afloat. It is therefore unmarketable to the discerning that the market should totally determine the fate of the poorest.

The quirks with demand and supply, I have explained earlier. We know what Nigerians demand dollars for, for example. In Nigeria, we have some peculiar demands that don’t feature in the textbooks e.g. billions of dollars are demanded yearly for bribes. Under CBN Governor Sanusi Lamido, there was a point it was revealed that Nigeria is the largest importer of dollars in the world.

In other words, there is perhaps more dollar cash in Nigeria than there is in the USA. Other rogue states are like that. Even Russia is like that to an extent. Dollar is the new currency for corruption. They hardly spend $100 in the USA. We take that for granted here. It works for the USA; they get the seignoriage associated with printing their own currency, and leverage on petrodollar (the idea that since crude oil is invoiced in dollar, the higher the price, the higher the dollar dependency of other countries).

As for data, we have a problem with how they are generated and most of Nigeria’s data is ‘dirty’. Too many parameters are not captured in our data that should have been. Did anyone capture Andrew Yakubu’s $9.8 million before it was discovered? Did we plan with that data? What about the hidden of billions that we are yet to capture? What about fake imports and money laundering? Over and under-invoicing? Round-tripping? Abeg, forget that data business. Not in this country! We have tremendous work to do on our data before we can rely on them. People like to quote the great data master, Late Hans Rosling who said, ‘Data allows a political judgment to be based on facts, to the extent that number describes reality’, but they craftily omit the emphasis on the last part of the sentence. Does Nigeria’s data reflect reality? The guys at NBS are trying their best but they obviously lack funding to reach as many Nigerians for data as should be the case. Can anyone guess how much was spent in beer parlours in any of our ghettos last night? Even the nightclubs in highbrow areas falsify their records. Heck, banks have three different servers and three different accounts. Telcos will never let you know just how much they earn. Where then is the data. Data integrity only occurs in societies where there is high sociopsychological integrity. Not in a country like Nigeria. The kind of sick tales we hear boggles the mind.

I remember being taught what is called the LSE (London School of Economics) approach to financial/economic modeling at Masters level in the UK. It is basically about how you form your models, or how you can scientifically prove what factors influence or cause any economic phenomenon, say GDP, inflation, economic growth, and so on. One of the key planks of the LSE model is that you should populate a model with all the variables that you believe are responsible for the phenomenon you are estimating. Then you start to test if they are significant or not, using t and f tests. Where we fail in Nigeria is that we do not include as many variables as we should. For example, we speculate on the value of the naira, and talk about it being determined by demand and supply, but we ignore the FACT that a large chunk of demand is for illegal purposes (such as the $9.8 million Andrew Yakubu stashed in some ghetto in Kaduna). Given that there are thousands of wicked souls like Yakubu (I can’t stop talking about this ‘born-again’ guy), whose only claim to wealth and fame is that they worked for government and stole us blind, we could assume that more than $10 billion in cash exist in different parts of Nigeria, conveniently outside the system. Black money.

When those monies were being bought, they formed part of the ‘demand’ that we simplistically talk about as if every society is the same. No one makes such demand in the UK for example, even though I admit that all societies are corrupt to varying degrees. If we are able to supply those billions of dollars to the Nigerian economy, there is no gainsaying that the naira will firm up suddenly. No one should be surprised that the naira has gained so much in a few days. The economy just doesn’t exist in the coherent, sophisticated, and over-confident manner in which it has been described by our ‘market pundits’. This economy is legless; more of the cash exist outside the system and under the radar of our data gatherers.

Anyway, for the naira to really find its level (for those who are still interested):

1. We have to get every dollar stashed in different parts of Nigeria by criminal public sector officials and their private sector cronies. Every single dime of those billions of dollars were procured with Nigeria’s resources – with our naira. This is how it works; for anyone to bribe Andrew Yakubu and his likes with billions of US dollars, they had to ‘short’ the naira. I mean they had to withdraw naira and go to the black market to buy dollars for delivery. Each time they did that (and that is all the time – for it’s still ongoing), the naira weakened. And until these amounts are reinfused into the system, we cannot get the ‘true value’ of the naira, for these corrupt practices form the major part of the demand for dollar in Nigeria. Since e-banking made its debut in Nigeria, and people found it difficult to withdraw large amounts in the naira without unnecessary charges and attention, the dollar has been the major conduit for illegal transactions. A good, enlightened analyst should also ask for these recoveries to be intensified. Failure to do that, people will ask on what basis anyone is calling for further devaluation if not to take a position and continue to clean out Nigeria as they’ve done for some time now.

2. We have to check our priorities as a people. Recall the fact that we are historically dependent on other peoples for almost everything we need. That will be tough to change for now. But we aren’t even trying. The 2017 budget is made up of all sorts of hopeless spending by the Federal and State governments. Perhaps half of the budget will be used in procuring everything foreign viz;

a. Generating sets,
b. Luxury cars,
c. Building materials from abroad,
d. Drugs from abroad,
e. Agricultural machinery from abroad,
f. Fertiliser from abroad,
g. Seedlings from abroad,
h. Pesticides and supplements from abroad,
i. Consultancy from abroad,
j. Contractors from abroad,
k. Uniforms for the armed forces and police from abroad.
l. And so on…

If the Federal Government is not ready to even strain itself a little by constricting as much as possible of its spending towards Nigerian products (warts and all), how can it expect that the people will lead the charge? Why is government not buying Innoson and PAN? This is where the sheer absurdity of expecting change to start from the people comes to the fore. Equally at state level, most of their budgets will be used to buy foreign goods. And the salaries that we pay, will naturally be used by the citizens, to buy foreign goods; for the people don’t even have any choices. If you want the naira to have value, start to think of how you can reverse this trend. If you wait for demand and supply to continue to dictate the pace, you will find the naira as worthless as the Zimbabwean Dollar used to be – before it was altogether abolished.

3. Change our economic ideology/ethos. For now, it’s all about borrowing and Foreign Investors. The naira is not strong because we are not getting non-debt inflows. We are heavily borrowed. And we are borrowing some more. In an economy where we claim to be recovering so much from thieves, and where we haven’t yet achieved any considerable level of fiscal responsibility, what we are doing is to borrow heavily and mortgage our own future. That will not work at all. Other countries, even in Africa, are getting non-debt inflows. They can point to tourism dollars. Nigeria cannot. This is how to profoundly help our supply side. The best we get here is portfolio investments (in our stock and bond markets) which we make so much hue about. These days, we are even reminded why we need to devalue the currency so as to attract portfolio investors! Yet we know that these guys are too smart for us with their hot money. Is this the best we can do? I watched one of the young British traders on TV the other day saying they will not come back into the Nigerian bond market except Nigeria devalues and increases interest rates at the same time! What a nerve!! Where else do you get that double whammy? If we devalue and increase interest rates for you to bring your hot dollars what do we get in return asides from a momentary and fleeting financial orgasm? But they got what they wanted in Nigeria. They always do. Our own people here will support them. There is a war afoot between these types and those who genuinely wish our country well. Some others are only interested in making money. More to come.

Chelsea was abysmal last season in their title defence under Mourinho, but the blues are currently top of the log, 10 points clear with 11 games left in the season.

Cafu: Neymar Will Surpass Pele’s Goal Scoring Record For Brazil

Featured Image

Brazilian icon Cafu , believes Neymar will surpass Pele as Brazil’s record goalscorer, at the rate he is going.

The Barcelona forward already has 50 international goals and is only behind Pele, who has 77 goals, Ronaldo and Romario.

Cafu believes Neymar’s age will play a key role in him surpassing a record that has not been broken for a very long time.

Cafu told FIFA: “All records exist only to be beaten. Of course, Neymar has got it in him.

“He’s young and has time on his side. If he continues playing as he is now, then there is every possibility he will [overtake Pele].”

On his own record of 142 caps, which looks tougher to beat, Cafu added: “I think this is understandable because no one has played for Brazil over such a long period of time as me – 16 years!

“It is purely down to strength of will, my devotion to football and the effort I put in during all this time.”

Baba Ijebu: Woman Bolts With N168,000 Lotto Money

Featured Image

A 39-year-old woman, who manages her employer’s lotto and pool, known as ‘Baba Ijebu’, was on Monday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court charged with N168,000 fraud.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused, Monsurat Showemimo, is facing a charge of stealing to which she pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Joseph Ajebe, said that the accused was employed as the manager in charge of lottery (Premier lotto and pool popularly known as “Baba Ijebu) by the complainant, Mrs Roseline Ayodele, who reported the fraud.

He said the offence was committed sometime in April 2016 at No. 14, Fadeyi St., off Ajayi Road, Oke-Ira, Ogba in Ikeja.

“The accused was asked to be remitting daily sales to the complainant’s account which she never did. Rather, she converted N168,000 proceeds from sales to her use.”

Ajebe said the accused disappeared after committing the fraud and was recently apprehended by the police.

The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 which carries a three-year imprisonment.

Chief Magistrate Alexander Komolafe granted the accused N50,000 bail with two sureties, who must be gainfully employed with an evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The case has been adjourned to March 20 for trial.

Nigeria Hunts More ‘Ghost Workers’, Seeks Extension Of BVN To Microfinance Banks

Featured Image

In an attempt to rein in the ‘untoward’ activities of fraudulent government employees (Ghost workers), the Federal Government has urged the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to enforce the use of Bank Verification Number (BVN), in Microfinance Banks (MFBs).

The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, is seeking that it becomes mandatory that all account holders in MFBs get a BVN as a requirement to operate such accounts.

She said such step would facilitate the detection of bank accounts opened and operated for ghost workers by fraudulent syndicates.

In a memo sent to the Governor of the Apex Bank, Godwin Emefiele, she lauded the introduction of the BVN by the apex bank, adding that it has contributed immensely in improving the integrity of the Federal Government payroll on which more than 50, 000 ghost workers were detected and removed.

“Our ongoing efforts to verify the integrity of Federal Government personnel costs and purge the system of fraud and error has made extensive use of the Bank Verification Number as a means of identifying recipients of multiple salaries, and salaries paid into accounts with names that differ from those held on our payroll records. The success of this effort has to date yielded the removal of over 50,000 payroll entries,” the Minister said.

She referred the CBN Governor to the discovery that, prior to the deadline for obtaining the BVN, the movement of a large number of salary accounts of federal employees from commercial banks to Microfinance Banks, was observed.

“This is a suspicious activity and we have already commenced a review of such cases to identify and investigate any cases of fraud,” the Minister explained.

While noting that extending the requirement for BVN to Microfinance Banks may put a huge financial strain on the smaller Microfinance Banks, the Minister pointed out that  “some MFBs,  such as National Police Force Microfinance (NPF), have over 27,000 salary accounts. Our inability to perform checks on such a large number of salary earners is a key risk.”

“I am therefore seeking your co-operation to enforce compliance with BVN on any  MFB with over 200 active salary accounts or those above a certain size. This will support the Federal Government’s efforts at reducing leakages to create headroom for the capital projects that will support the growth of the economy,”  the Minister said in the correspondence.

Wigan Sack Manager Warren Joyce As He Becomes Third Championship Manager To Lose Job In Four Days

Featured Image

The managerial sackings in the English Championship continued on Monday with Warren Joyce being relieved of his duties at Wigan.

Wigan dismissed manager Warren Joyce to make it three managers gone in four days for the English second tier, after Alex Neil was cut by Norwich and Steve McClaren sacked for a second time by Derby.

In a statement, Latics chairman David Sharpe said: ‘It is unfortunate that we have made this decision but with the team in such a perilous position in the league, we need to act now because we cannot afford to fall any further behind.

‘Warren was appointed with the future in mind in terms of developing players but preserving our Championship status is the absolute priority and we have a duty to do whatever gives us the best chance of doing that.

‘Results and performances have simply not been up to standard often enough in recent matches and although we acknowledge the difficulties faced in managing a team in a league where we are competing against clubs with much larger budgets, the nature of some of our recent defeats, especially against close rivals, has fallen short in terms of what we as a club, and all our supporters, expect.’

Wigan are currently 23rd in the Championship, four points adrift of safety.

Joyce’s former assistant, Graham Barrow, has been handed the reins for the remainder of the season.

Head of first team coaching Andy Welsh has also left the DW Stadium with immediate effect.

President Buhari Resumes Work [Photos]

Featured Image

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday finally resumed duty in his office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja after close to 50 days of delegation of authority to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

This is even as he has formally sent a letter to the leaderships of the two chambers of the National Assembly to the effect.

It is understood that the President, who returned to the country on Friday after spending 50 days in the United Kingdom to attend to his health, in London, entered his office at around 11.15 a.m.

Confirming this while fielding questions from State House correspondents in Abuja on Monday, Malam Garba Shehu, the president’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, said that the president would later hold meeting with Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo.

Buhari Might Return To London For Medical Check-Up ‘Very Soon’ [Watch Video]

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, had earlier confirmed that the President will resume his official duties today.

On Friday, he had tweeted that “PMB will Monday transmit letter to N’Assembly on his return to the country. That makes his return to work formal, and constitutional.”

The news certainly has dismissed speculations and media reports that Buhari had asked Osinbajo to continue as acting president.

The president had written the National Assembly informing it that Osinbajo would act as president in his absence, while he embarked on a 10-day medical vacation on January 19.

The president later wrote the National Assembly for an extension of the leave to enable him undergo more medical tests based on the advice of his doctors.

President Buhari returned to Nigeria on Friday through Kaduna Airport after more than six-weeks in the United Kingdom.

#BBNaija Housemates Promote ‘Girl-Child’ Education

Featured Image

It was an exciting and fun-filled Sunday night as the housemates in the on-going Big Brother Naija reality TV show rose to lend their voices to the campaign for girl-child education.

The housemates, led by Bisola, treated the viewing audience to a theme song titled “Let’s educate a girl-child’ in a bid to reiterate the imperative for a ‘girl-child’ education.

During their act, all the housemates teamed up, with each one of them displaying his or her creative skill and zeal to collectively pass across their very important message.

The fun last night took a different turn when Iyanya stepped on the stage, joining the list of musical artistes who have performed at the BBNaija reality TV show. The Kukere exponent rocked the live stage with one of his singles, ‘Up to something’ in which he featured Mr. Oreo.  The live show was also spiced by former Big Brother Africa housemate, Tayo Faniran who treated the guests to his new single, ‘No calling and Dakun.’

The highlight of the night was when Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the show host took on the housemates intermittently on romantic intrigues in the house. When Ebuka challenged Bisola over her intimacy with ThinTallTony, the starry-eyed Bisola did not deny her affection for the latter saying that it is a mutual thing.

She openly stated, “I like ThinTallTony very very very much… I’m comfortable with him, ” adding that unlike Bally, he reciprocates her feeling. However, she is not oblivious of the fact that ThinTallTony is ‘into’ TBoss. When teased by Ebuka on her emphasis, ‘I love Tony very very very much’, a blushing Bisola jokingly said, “It’s because he is TTT.”

Ebuka later meandered and teased Debbie-Rise and Bassey on their romantic connection in the house and they both admitted that they have some chemistry. The newly-wed, Marvis and Efe were also not spared as Marvis confessed that she has a soft spot for Efe, while the latter said, “Based on logistics, Marvis remains to be the lady after my heart”

To prepare the housemates for the challenge ahead of them, Tayo Faniran, during an interview with Ebuka advised the housemates to look beyond the ultimate prize, which he believes is transient and focus more on life after BBNaija.

As is the norm, the nomination show continues this evening and all the adrenaline of the housemates have begun to rise as Ebuka has informed them that either one or more housemates will be evicted next Sunday. Who will be the next to be evicted from the house?

Featured Image

Former Norwich manager Alex Neil has released a statement through the LMA after his sacking on Friday:

“It has been an honour and a privilege to have had the opportunity to manage Norwich City Football Club.

“Naturally, I feel very disappointed to have lost my job. This current season has been one of transition, with the club adjusting to the consequences of relegation from the Premier League, as well as two chief executives moving on in a short space of time.

“I have worked with some great people at the club and have shared some fantastic memories with them. I will always be very proud of our achievement of winning promotion, via the playoffs at Wembley, and of having the opportunity to manage Norwich in the Premier League. I would like to thank my coaching staff for their hard work and loyalty and all the players and the staff throughout the club for their efforts on and off the pitch.

“My thanks also go to club owners, Delia and Michael, for giving me the opportunity to manage Norwich City. I wish them every success for the future and hope that the club goes on to achieve the ambitions that the dedicated city and fans deserve.

“The experience I have gained at Norwich City will be invaluable to me and I look forward to my next challenge in the game.”
