Spurs Get Positive Update On Kane’s Injury

Featured Image

Tottenham has revealed Harry Kane will be back before the end of the season, as his injury is not as severe as earlier thought.

The England international lasted less than 10 minutes in the FA Cup match against Millwall, twisting his ankle after a tackle from Jake Cooper.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino initially feared that the injury was “similar” to the one which had kept Kane out of 10 games in September and October.

But a Spurs statement confirmed: “We can confirm that Harry Kane sustained ligament damage to his right ankle during Sunday’s FA Cup win against Millwall.

“The injury is similar to the one suffered by the forward against Sunderland in Sept last year, however it is not considered to be as severe.

“Harry will continue to be assessed by our medical staff while he undergoes his rehabilitation at our Training Centre.”

Spurs have refused to put a timeframe on Kane’s recovery, but hope that he will respond well to treatment over the coming weeks.

Guardiola: Scoring Goals Is The Way To Beat Monaco

Featured Image

Pep Guardiola says he only has one game plan in mind when his side faces Monaco, and it is to attack and score goals.

Manchester City hold the advantage in the tie, after winning 5-3 in the first leg at the Etihad stadium.

Guardiola believes the only way to beat Monaco, who has scored 123 goals in all competitions is to score goals.

“Even when I was at Barcelona and Bayern Munich I could not assure that we would win that Champions League,” he told a pre-match news conference.

“In that way [attacking] is the only way it can happen. It is the only way I know

“Monaco play to attack, our team play to attack. I’m pretty sure it is going to be a fantastic game.

“When a team scores 123 goals it is because they are able to score in many, many different ways.

“The best way [to beat them] is scoring goals – take the ball and attack as much as possible is the only way to play this kind of team.

“If in 90 minutes you are thinking about 5-3, you kill yourself.”

Courtois: Mourinho Is Making United Play Dirty

Featured Image

Thibaut Courtois believes Mourinho employed mind games and made his players play dirty in their 1-0 FA Cup loss to Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge.

Ander Herrera was sent off in the first half after two bookable offences on Hazard, with United committing unnecessary fouls.

Courtois believes Manchester United played Mourinho’s style in the quarterfinals clash against Chelsea.

“They made a lot of fouls and they were very hard,” Courtois said. “This was in the style of Mourinho but I think that Ander Herrera paid the price for his team-mates because I think Phil Jones made a fifth foul on Eden Hazard and then Herrera made another foul on him seconds later.

“Then the referee must give a yellow card and, unfortunately for Herrera, he already had one.

“United tried to get into our minds, with the fouling and kicking to try to destabilise us. They are the mind-games that they tried to play – they get that from their manager.

“We didn’t fall into their trap, we played our game and did it our way – as we have been doing for six months or so. We did it well. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find another goal and finish it earlier, but I think it is good to go to Wembley and the mission is to go to the final and win it.”

“We didn’t know beforehand about United’s aggression,” he added. “You can expect Manchester to play one of two ways. They can play their footballing way but, obviously, without Anthony Martial and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, then they can play a different game.

“That’s what they did and I think they tried to defend well. In the beginning, we could see how they were playing and we have players with football intelligence who can handle that.

“I think the last time we played them, they didn’t expect us to be so good. When we played it was the beginning of playing 3-4-3 and obviously they came with a plan to put Matteo Darmian and Phil Jones on Willian and Eden. So it was hard to find the space, but after that we did.”

PSG Lodges Complain After Barcelona Loss

Featured Image

PSG has lodged a complain about the refereeing of the loss to Barcelona, sending a five-page letter to UEFA.

The Ligue 1 champions were unhappy with the officiating of Deniz Aytekin , especially with his decision to award Barcelona a penalty in the 91st minute.

That was only one of the eight incidents PSG were unhappy with it. They also pointed to the penalty that wasn’t awarded for Mascherano’s foul on Di Maria.

They also highlighted Neymar escaping a red card for stomping on Marquinhos and Pique escaping a second yellow for pulling Edinson Cavani.

UEFA confirmed PSG’s complaint, saying: “UEFA has received a letter from PSG relating to the refereeing of their match against Barcelona. We have no further comment to make on this.”

Barcelona scored three goals in the final seven minutes to come back from 4-0 down in the first leg to win 6-5 on aggregate.

Spain

Real Madrid’s hopes of signing Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois at the end of the season appear to have been ended by the Belgian who, when asked about a move to Spain, said: “Right now I’m enjoying the successes we have here and I’m focused on it. I’m really enjoying myself here and I’m focused on finishing the league and winning it.” (Mundo Deportivo)

But Madrid are still expected to be in the hunt for a goalkeeper this summer after Keylor Navas scored an own goal in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Real Betis before narrowly avoiding being sent off.

The Costa Rican went some way to making up for his earlier error with a stunning stoppage-time save to deny Pablo Sarabia. (Don Balon)

Barcelona’s hopes of signing Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin have, apparently, been boosted by Manchester City’s interest in Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich.

City boss Pep Guardiola worked with Kimmich at Bayern Munich before moving to the Etihad Stadium in the summer and is keen to work with the 22-year-old utility man, paving the way for Bellerin to move to the Nou Camp. (Don Balon)

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, who is a Juventus transfer target, is now also wanted by Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho

Verratti’s agent, Donato Di Campli, has said the Italian international could be forced out of the Parc de Princes if he continued to receive criticism and Old Trafford is a new alternative to Turin. (Mundo Deportivo).

Italy

Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira could be in line for a romantic return to first club Stuttgart. But the German World Cup winner does not plan to move back to the Bundesliga just yet.

He said: “Stuttgart are my favourite team and I am proud they are the only German jersey I’ve worn in my life. In the future I will return to lend a hand, perhaps in a different role, but first I will play for a while. (La Repubblica)

In the meantime, Juventus will focus their attentions on tying young striker Moise Kean to a new deal. The 17-year-old has made just three appearances for Max Allegri’s side this season but is highly regarded at the Juventus Stadium and will, reportedly, be offered a new long-term deal to remain with the reigning champions. (Calciomercato)

Juventus coach Allegri will also look to bolster his midfield this summer with the a double swoop for Lyon’s Corentin Tolisso – who has scored six times from midfield this season – and Anderlecht’s Youri Tielemans.

Belgian international Tielemans has four years remaining on his contract with the Belgian champions and would reportedly cost up to £25m. Tolisso has already been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea. (Tuttosport)

Germany

Bayern Munich forward Kingsley Coman, who is on loan from Juventus, is attracting attention from the Premier League and is a Manchester City and Chelsea transfer target.

The 20-year-old, who has scored twice in five Bundesliga starts during an injury-plagued season, can be purchased by Carlo Ancelotti’s side for €21m this summer but there will be a three-way tussle for the Frenchman’s services. Chelsea will reportedly offer €60m while City’s bid is believed to be closer to €50m. (Bild)

Barcelona’s Manageerial Target Ernesto Valverde To Make Decision On Athletic Bilbao Future Soon

Featured Image

Barcelona managerial target Ernesto Valverde will make a decision over his future over the next fortnight, reports Sport.

Barca are on the hunt for a new manager to replace Luis Enrique, who will leave at the end of the season, and Athletic Bilbao boss Valverde is reportedly the leading candidate.

Valverde himself is inside the last few months of his contract and, according to Sport, he will decide whether or not he will extend his stay at San Mames over the next two weeks.

Valverde has a great relationship with the club’s President Josu Urrutia and has always put Athletic first. He rejected an offer from Real Madrid to remain in Bilbao, but this time the circumstances could be different.

Athletic’s irregular form this season, with early exits in the Copa del Rey and the Europea League, have led to suggestions his time at the club may be nearing its natural end. Despite that, Athletic have faith in him to lead their new project and have tried to convince him to stay.

Nigeria’s Inflation Rate Drops For The First Time In 15 Months

Featured Image

For the first time in about 15 months, Nigeria’s inflation rate fell as consumer price index (CPI), which measures inflation in the economy, went down in what signals as a recovery in the Nigerian economy.

According to a report released on Tuesday by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the inflation rate dropped from 18.72 percent in January 2017, to 17.78 percent in February 2017.

NBS said: “On a Headline basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) which measures inflation increased by 17.78 percent (year-on-year) albeit at a slower pace in February 2017, 0.94 percent points lower from the rate recorded in January (18.72) percent.”

“This represents the first time in 15 months that the headline CPI has declined on year on year basis representing the effects of slower rises in already high food and non food prices and favourable base effects over 2016 prices.”

In the report, the bureau said the country however recorded price increases in “housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel, education, food and alcoholic beverages, clothing and frontware and transportation services”.

Despite the signs of recovery seen in the core inflation rate, food prices remain on the rise, with a surge in the food index, from 17.82 percent in January to 18.53 percent (year-on-year) in February.

This rise, the report shows, was driven by increases in the prices of bread, cereals, meat, fish, potatoes, yams and other tubers and wine, while the slowest increase in food prices year on year were recorded by soft drinks, coffee, tea and cocoa.

Price movements recorded by All Items less farm produce or Core sub-index rose by 16.00 percent (year-on-year) in February, down by 1.90 per cent points from 17.90 percent recorded in January.

“I Won’t Appear Before You On Wednesday” – Customs Boss Hameed Ali Replies Senate

Featured Image

The Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Hameed Ali, has written the Senate, to inform the legislators that he will not appear before them on Wednesday as expected. ‎

Customs Boss Ali Dares Senate, Begins Vehicles Verification Today

This is just as he added that the date stipulated for his appearance coincides “with the fortnightly meeting of the NCS management”.

The upper chamber of the senate had summoned Ali with respect to the plan of his agency to collect duty on vehicles that had already been imported into the country.

Customs Boss, Ali’s Epic Response To Senate – ‘I Was Not Employed To Wear Uniform’

The lawmakers had ordered him to appear before it on March 15th in his official uniform as a customs officer, prompting Ali to say he was not appointed to wear uniform.

The customs boss further hit back at the Senate, asking the lawmakers to show interest in his work not his dress.

However, at plenary on Tuesday, Ali pleaded for another date, in a letter signed by Azawoma A, an assistant comptroller-general.

It reads: “I’m directed to acknowledge the receipt of your letter no NASS/CS/8S/09/29 of 9th March 2017 on the above subject matter. I have been further directed to tell you that the date given to the comptroller-general of the Nigerian Customs Service Wednesday 15th March 2017 to brief the senate in plenary on the retrospective duty payment of vehicles in Nigeria has coincided with the fortnightly meeting of the NCS management.”

“The comptroller-general is humbly requesting the new date from the distinguished senate, as we wait your favourable response please be assured of the highest regards and also of the comptroller-general of customs.”

Apparently peeved by the failure of Ali to show some respect to the lawmakers by not signing the letter himself, Ahmed Lawan, senate leader, after reading the letter, said:

“I’m eager to make to observations here from the letter read by the clerk. First, the excuse for not appearing tomorrow is because it coincides with routine fortnightly meeting of management of the NCS. That does not take precedence on the invitation of the senate.”

“Secondly, the letter was signed by someone else, not the CG of customs. My opinion is that a letter coming to the senate from the customs especially an invitation was written for the customs CG to appear here who should have taken personal interest and signed it. That will have given, in my judgement, some sense of respect for the institution not for us.”

The accused, Yusufu Mohammed of Kabusa village, was arraigned on a count charge of dishonestly receiving stolen property from one Sabiu Abdulraham.

During court hearing, the judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, granted the accused bail in the sum of N20,000 after he had denied committing the offence.

Finally, Senate Fixes Wednesday For Magu’s Confirmation Hearing As EFCC Boss

Featured Image

The Senate on Tuesday announced that the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, will appear before its chamber on Wednesday for his confirmation hearing.

This disclosure was made by the Senate President Bukola Saraki and also shared in a tweet by the upper chamber.

Magu was appointed acting EFCC chairman in November 2015.

The Senate rejected Magu’s nomination on December 15, 2016 due to a negative report against him by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The report from the premier security police showed that Mr. Magu had corruptly enriched himself, and was living far above his legitimate income.

However, President Buhari re-submitted Magu’s name to the Senate for confirmation as the substantive chairman of EFCC shortly before he left for United Kingdom on vacation in January.

In a letter re-submitting Magu’s name for screening and confirmation, Buhari stressed that anti-corruption war is at the heart of his administration’s quest to improve Nigeria’s fortune.

The President insisted that Magu was fit enough to be confirmed EFCC chairman not minding the DSS report.

The letter read: “I write with reference to your letter no NASS /85/R/016 dated 15th December, 2016, wherein you conveyed to me the resolution of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria reached on the same Thursday, 15th December, 2016 in respect of my earlier request for the confirmation and appointment of Mr. Ibrahim Magu Mustapha as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

“I have taken due note of the contents of the aforesaid resolution as it concerns the nominee, particularly the conclusion of the Distinguished Senate not to confirm the nomination of Mr. Magu due to a security report on the nominee issued by the Department of State Services (DSS) and addressed to the Senate via a letter dated 3rd, October 2016.

“Upon receipt of this said resolution, I took administrative steps within the executive arm of government to ensure the speedy clarification of issues relied upon by the Senate in arriving at its decision.

“These steps included a request for the response of the nominee to the allegations contained in the report out of desire to ensure that the credibility of our anti-corruption campaign is not compromised or called to question.

“As the Distinguished Senate, you will recall the prosecution of the anti-corruption war in all aspects of our polity is a programme to which my administration has committed itself since our inauguration on May 29th, 2015.”

On Fani-Kayode, Buratai, Biafra And The Guardians Of Empire Nigeria – Jude Ndukwe

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

Let it be stated from the outset that this piece is being written in memory of a certain Okanga Agila, who, in penning his calligraphic gibberish on the subject and against Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, betrayed the mental comatose his acephalous entity is constantly subjected to owing to the torture suffered from being averse to truth and its purveyors.

This piece was written by Jude Ndukwe. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

Of course, as it is known with men of no or empty heads, Okanga made frantic but puerile efforts to vitiate the seriousness of the issues which the former minister of aviation raised in his article on the subject, a confirmation that such men do not need to die before they die. With the way their headless brains work, Okanga is dead!

It would have amounted to an unworthy venture and a waste of time to give importance and attention to a writer motivated by filthy lucre rather than objectivity and facts but for the purpose of setting the records straight.

Let Okanga and his likes know that Femi Fani-Kayode does not speak lightly. He speaks from supernatural inspiration and insight unfathomable to undiscerning mortals. Only cretins and their paymasters discard his words and treat them with levity, usually at their own peril.

For example, there is nothing FFK as he is fondly called said about Buhari and the current administration during the 2015 election campaigns that has not come to pass. Be it the tyranny, its blatant and continued defiance of court orders, economic hardship, hunger, collapse of our local currency, a general exhibition of whimsical arbitrariness of autocracy over our hard-won democracy and many more.

Fani-Kayode has come from a very noble family with rich roots and patriotism that have immensely shaped the course of our nation over the years even before our independence. The fact that it was Femi’s father, Chief Remlekun Fani-Kayode of blessed memory, that successfully moved the motion for Nigeria’s independence in 1958 before becoming the Deputy Premier of the Old Western Region in 1963, is enough to prove that the heritage of unrepentant patriotism to the cause of the nation was well bequeathed to him by his father, and no one, except very few like FFK, can lay claim to know where the umbilical cord of the nation was buried after its birth.

So when the former minister of Culture and Tourism speaks, it behoves on wise men to listen to him rather cast aspersions at him. Those who did that at the last general elections now bite their fingers in deep regret. Many of such people now diligently seek him to apologise to him for not heeding his warning then and also for standing against him – against reason. It is only a matter of time, the Okangas of our nation will soon have the veil covering their eyes torn apart, and just like the villains of the 2015 elections, come back to FFK to seek his forgiveness for not heeding his warnings.

Having committed so much to the development of our nation, and with his family shaping the history of Nigeria, it would be defeatist of such a man to just wake up and start calling for the restructuring of the nation and also respect for those who wish to take a walk from the entity if there are no compelling reasons to do so.

No matter how much we try to pretend about it, a selfish section of the northern oligarch has held the nation by the jugular and down for too long. Are we going to allow them grip our scrotum, too, without a roar? What man does that?

Every section of the country has suffered immeasurably in the hands of the oligarchs. Fani-Kayode restates the fact of history that this same set of people saw to the killing of millions of the Igbo during the civil war, starved millions of women and children to death, seized their properties and compensated them with a paltry £20 after the war in order to keep them subjugated for life.

Since then, there have been high-wired conspiracies to deny the Igbo access to political power or even certain positions in government as a way of continuing the civil war by proxy. Yet, when the people cry out that they are dying under the excruciating pains of these burdens, their young men get killed by state agents under the guise of quelling a non-existent rebellion. Many have had their lives needlessly snuffed out of them by the smoking guns of those who are paid to protect them.

In most households of the southeast, tears still flow because of the barbarism of the Nigerian state. While the harbingers of hate and falsehood like Okanga want us to believe that these young men and women savagely cut down in their prime by state agents in Igboland were rebels simply because they associated with bodies like IPOB, a Nigerian court has rightly declared that IPOB is not illegal as the members’ rights to associate were not only provided for but also guaranteed by the Nigerian constitution. The implication of the court pronouncement on this is very far-reaching. It simply means that those who have been killed for expressing their solidarity with IPOB were most unlawfully killed under the watch of Buratai as Chief of Army Staff, yet, he speaks about the matter with insipid arrogance.

No one expects a man like Fani-Kayode, committed to truth, justice, equity, fairness and freedom, to keep quiet while all these are going on. Harbingers of truth are irritants to tyrants. Nigerians know exactly why FFK is being so viciously persecuted by the Emperor. He once floored an Emperor from Katsina State after he was made to undergo seven years of inhuman persecution; he would floor this Emperor also from Katsina State in like manner. He is a man destined for elevation from persecution. If those who are running after him knew this, they would cease giving him the ladder with which to climb over them.

A situation where every other tribe and minority group have suffered one misfortune or the other in the hands of this set of northern oligarch is enough to rile even the dictator’s wife.

Chief MKO Abiola suffered that cruel fate in their hands alongside some other Yoruba leaders. This also made many prominent sons and daughters of the Yoruba race to go on exile from where they gallantly fought the good fight for democracy in the period of the June 12 struggle.

The Shiite Muslims have also been victims of the high-handedness of this despotic government. While Okanga attempted to make it look like it was a Muslim government against another Muslim group, we are all very much aware of the open detestation the Sunni Muslims have for their Shiite brethren. The rest, like they say, is history.

It is this same northern oligarchs who did all that was possible to blackmail former president Goodluck Jonathan out of power for the simple reason that he is Ijaw, a minority ethnic group from South-South Nigeria. To them, it is an anathema to have their “Born to Rule” creed interrupted by any other region.

The many injustices against fellow citizens have continued for so long and almost becoming an entrenched part of our lives which the likes of FFK cannot afford to gloss over. He is never the troublemaker here. The troublemakers, in addition to the above, are those whose militants parading themselves as herdsmen, invade our farms, destroy our crops, kill our fathers, rape our women, rip open their pregnancies, slaughter the unborn, maim our children, yet, never get prosecuted.

However, one thing is sure, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode can never be hushed to silence. He is like the modern day Moses sent to go and tell the dreaded Pharaoh, “Let my people go”. The road may look rough now, but he will surely get to the Promised Land with the people. He is the one whose voice has been anointed to divide the “Red Sea” for the oppressed, shatter the rock for them and bring them to their respective lands flowing with milk and honey.

This is his mandate, a divine mandate that not even millions of The Guardians of Empire Nigeria can stop!

#BBNaija: TBoss, ThinTallTony, Debbie-Rise And Efe, All Up For Eviction

Featured Image

Shortly after he was displaced by Bassey as the new Head of House (HoH), ThinTallTony has been nominated for eviction come Sunday.

He was joined by three other housemates: TBoss, Debbie-Rise, and Efe.

Interestingly, it appears Bally’s mojo has continued to work for him as he was saved by the new HoH, having previously being nominated by his fellow housemates for possible eviction.  During the diary session, most of the housemates who nominated Bally felt it was high time Bally experienced the tension and anxiety that come with the eviction fever, especially having been saved from previous evictions.

The sun, it appears may suddenly set at midday for talented guitarist, Debbie-Rise who managed to survive the live nomination, but was later nominated by Marvis after Big Brother ordered her to use her powercard to nominate amy housemate of her choice, except Bassey who is immune from eviction and any housemate who had previously been nominated. After the eviction hammer fell, an apparently broken Debbie-Rise could not hold back her tears when it dawned on her that she is now up for eviction. She however found solace in the comforting arms of Bassey, her in-house soulmate. Meanwhile,  Bisola was the only person that was not nominated by other housemates.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, while on stage, said one of the newly nominated housemates will have to go home by Sunday. It is a wonder why most of the housemates wanted ThinTallTony out of the race. Could he have been a threat to some of the housemates?

The results of today’s nomination show was led by TBoss, followed by ThinTallTony.and then Bally. In a twist of fate, Efe and Debbie-Rise were both substituted by Bassey and Marvis respectively.

The housemates voted in the following order.:

Efe – ThinTallTony & TBoss

Bisola – Marvis & TBoss

Bally – TBoss & ThinTallTony

Bassey –  TBoss & Bally

ThinTallTony – Bally and Efe

Debbie-Rise – Bally & ThinTallTony

Marvis – TBoss & ThinTallTony

TBoss – Efe & Marvis

The forthcoming eviction show holds on Sunday, 19, March, 2017. To save your favorite housemate, viewers in Nigeria should text the word “Vote” followed by the housemate’s name to 32052. While for the rest of Africa, follow the AfricaMagictv official account on WeChat and click on the menu option ‘BBNaija’ and select your preferred housemate. Voting opens at 21h00 WAT on Monday, 30 January and closes at 20h00 WAT on Saturday, 4 February.

Diego Costa believes Real Madrid And Barcelona Are Monitoring Eden Hazard

Featured Image

Diego Costa says Barcelona and Real Madrid are watching Chelsea team-mate Eden Hazard, and while he doesn’t want the play-maker to move, he believes the Belgian should think about potential offers.

The Spaniard, who has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge himself, spoke out on interest linking his team-mate to the La Liga giants.

“It will be bad news for Chelsea if Real Madrid sign Hazard and Courtois. Eden is the best, he’s top,” the striker told Spanish radio station Cope.

“Barcelona and Real Madrid will have their eye [on him] and if a team like these knock on the door you have to think about it. It is normal that they love him but hopefully he will not leave.”

Niklas Sule Excited About Joining Bayen Munich In The Summer, Says ‘There’s No Bigger Club Than Bayern’

Featured Image

Niklas Sule has said “there’s no bigger club than Bayern Munich” and is looking forward to joining his new team-mates when he arrives in Bavaria this summer from Hoffenheim.

Spurning interest from Chelsea, Sule signed a five-year deal to join the German champions for a reported fee of around €25 million at the end of this season.

The central defender will be joined in Bavaria by Hoffenheim teammate Sebastian Rudy, who will arrive on a free transfer.

“I’m looking forward to the task,” Sule told Kicker. “I want to take the next step in my career there, training on a daily basis with the best players in the world.

“I am only 21 and can still learn and soak up many things from World Cup-winning duo Hummels and Boateng, so that I continue to improve. But I’m convinced I’ll make the breakthrough at some point.”

Boateng returned to action at the weekend as a substitute in Bayern’s 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, after a 108-day injury lay off.

Boateng  received words of support from his incoming teammate Sule whilst he was out of action.

“Naturally, I wrote to him. We get in contact from time to time, “Sule said. “For example, he also congratulated me on my move. He is one of the best central defenders in the world and I hope that he remains fit in the future.”

When the transfer was finalised in January, Niklas Sule described the chance to join the record German champions “as a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Asked whether a move to Bavaria was only a stepping stone before a move to England, Sule said: “There’s no bigger club than Bayern Munich.”

Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeness Says They Will Look To Developing Homegrown Talent

Featured Image

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has spoken of a new chapter at the club with a focus on developing talent with fewer big name signings arriving at the Bundesliga outfit.

“This will be a new chapter for FC Bayern, in which we will again try to reduce transfers by developing our own players,” he told German newspaper TZ.

“You mustn’t forget that we have already bought a defensive player in Niklas Sule, who could have a great future. We’ve got Sebastian Rudy, who can play in midfield. In defence, we have Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng and Sule in the future. Javi Martinez can also go into midfield.”

Bayern spent £61m on Hummels and Renato Sanches in last summer’s transfer window.

Sami Khedira Rules Out Moving To The MLS For Now

Featured Image

Juventus and Germany midfielder Sami Khedira has ruled out moving to the MLS for now but has revealed he will make the switch at some point in the future.

“It’s a must to try to win the Champions League,” he told Italian outlet La Repubblica. “This could be the right season. To win in Europe you need stability, form and luck: it’s a combination of factors.

“We certainly have the quality as well as the willingness to sacrifice for this team. I’ll go to America but not now. I want to play at a high level for a few more years. I want to win the Champions League and I want to defend the World Cup trophy with Germany.

“I wouldn’t be able to do all that in the USA or China. I also earn well here, by the way.”

Calcio Mercato reported in November that the LA Galaxy, New York Red Bulls and New York City FC were all interested in Khedira.

The Germany international came up through Stuttgart’s academy before leaving the Bundesliga for Real Madrid in 2010. He then joined Juventus before last season.

And Khedira said he cannot see himself wearing a different shirt in the Bundesliga, with Juve likely to be his last club in Europe before moving stateside. Only when he finally does pin up his boots does he plan on returning to Germany.

“Stuttgart are my club and I am proud that it is the only German club’s shirt I have worn in my life,” he said. “In the future, I will go back and lend a hand, maybe in a different role, but I’m going to play on for a bit before I take a break to travel the world.

“I don’t know if that will be a year or less, it will depend on how much time I need to dedicate to myself.”

Marco Verratti Open To Leaving PSG After Being Accused Of Partying With Rihanna Hours Before Barcelona Humiliation

Featured Image

Manchester United and Barcelona target Marco Verratti has told his agent to listen to offers to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The midfielder came in for criticism following the Ligue 1 side’s Champions League defeat to Barcelona, and is now thought to want a move elsewhere in the upcoming window.

Marco Verratti who is also linked with a move to Barcelona, has been accused of spending a night in a private night club with Blaise Matuidi and Rihanna just 48 hours before the humiliating night at the Nou Camp.

Verratti’s agent spoke in Italy about the situation: “The French press should be on their feet and thanking him for playing with PSG. Marco has contract until 2021 and the president affirmed his willingness to build a great team. But it’s also true that my phone keeps ringing…”, Donato di Campli said to Premium Sport.

Kluivert said: “Verratti is the cornerstone of our midfield and things will remain that way.

“He is not going anywhere this year.”

Reports in Spain suggested Barcelona were ready to splash out £70million for Veratti

ICYMI: Derby County Confirmed Gary Rowett As New Manager

Featured Image

Derby County have confirmed Gary Rowett as their new boss on a deal until the end of the 2018/19 season.

Gary Rowett, 43, has been out of work since being sacked by Birmingham in December but now has the chance to help the Rams get back into the promotion race.

He said: “I’m naturally thrilled to be appointed as the manager of Derby County and can’t wait to get started.

“I feel that I have a special bond with the club having been here as a player. During that time, we tasted success when we were promoted to the Premier League and moved to Pride Park Stadium under Jim Smith.

“Living in the local area, I understand the expectation of the fanbase and it goes without saying that Derby County has fantastic and committed supporters.

“I have coached in the Academy in the past so I know the values of the club and I am looking forward to sharing my experience and knowledge of the league with the staff and players.

“I am fully aware of the playing squad here and I am looking forward to working with them all first hand.”

Derby County parted ways with former England boss Steve McClaren just five months into his second spell at the club after a string of poor results.

Danny Drinkwater Wants Interim Manager Craig Shakespeare Given Long-term Contract

Featured Image

Danny Drinkwater has called – on behalf of all the Leicester players -for the long-term appointment of Craig Shakespeare as manager.

“On behalf of all the players, I think all of us would like to see him get the job long term,” said Drinkwater. “It’s a great appointment. It’s a good fit. We haven’t got much time to turn things around but there’s no better person for the job

“I don’t think it’s changed an awful lot. He needs to take control more as manager and any changes he’s made have been positive for the players.

“He’s been a pleasure to work with as manager – but he’s taken different roles as a coach. He helps us enjoy the football. It’s not only for the players and manager but one of the biggest games in the club’s history.”

Leicester City have put Craig Shakespeare, who has spent seven of the past eight years on the club’s coaching staff, in charge until the end of the season, after he previously worked under sacked manager Claudio Ranieri at the King Power Stadium.

Wilfried Bony Blast Stoke City Manager Mark Hughes, Regrets Joining Stoke City On Loan

Featured Image
Wilfried Bony has revealed he now wishes he had not joined Stoke City last summer from Manchester City, the Daily Mirror reports, after seeing his season-long loan turn sour.

Wilfried Bony last played on December 27, before having a month away for the Africa Cup of Nations. His last start was on November 19 and he hasn’t even been included in Stoke’s squad for their last four games.

“I want to know why I’m not playing. It is really crazy when the people say you are fine and that everything is okay, but you don’t play,” he told the daily newspaper.

“I have asked [Mark Hughes] and he says I am training well, my attitude is good and I don’t need to change that but why I don’t play, I don’t know, I can say it is like maybe to p*** you off, that you don’t play.”

It was reported by the in November that Bony had a release clause in his City contract stating that Chinese clubs could sign him in the transfer window, which shut last month.

Having remained at Stoke, Bony is now increasingly confused at his current predicament under Hughes.

“Not good at the moment, because it is a crazy situation,” he added. “The last time he says I need to be patient, but patient of what? I don’t know.

“I am not playing for no reason and since he spoke about the Chinese clause in my contract, I don’t play – it’s really strange.”

Asked if he regretted joining Stoke, Bony added: “Yes of course. I do wonder sometimes why I came here.”
