Pereira: I’ll Fight For United Spot

Featured Image

Andreas Pereira is a United player who is currently on loan at Granada and even though he is enjoying life in the La Liga, he is determined to play for United next season.

The 21-year-old forward is currently undergoing a season long loan at Granada and has started 25 of their 28 games.

And even though Granada are not in a good place on the table, they sit at 19th, he has scored four goals and assisted two.

“I’m playing well,” Pereira told ManUtd.com. “I’m trying to do my job and am getting a lot of minutes. For me, it’s been very good playing here at a high level in Spain, in La Liga, every week.

“I get to train and focus hard for the games and, for me, it’s been very good. Unfortunately for the team, it’s been a bit difficult this season but we’re trying to get out of this situation as quickly as possible.”

And he has kept in regular contact with both the coaching staff and his team-mates at his parent club throughout this season.

Pereira said: “It was nice to hear from Jose Mourinho and it’s nice that the people at United trust me and I always feel that they are watching. For me, that’s very important. I’m doing my thing here but I’m still a United player.

“[Assistant manager] Rui Faria sometimes sends me messages and asks how it is going. He contacted me to say I scored a good goal and I am happy when I get recognised for doing good things and to know that they’re watching.

“I speak with Adnan [Januzaj] sometimes and [Paul] Pogba, Timothy [Fosu-Mensah], [Eric] Bailly, [Antonio] Valencia. I keep in touch with lots of players, [Juan] Mata too, as I was there a long time and they’re my friends.

“I miss them as well, to be honest, so it’s good to keep in touch. Sometimes, when we have days off, we try to see each other but it’s difficult with the flights here as there are none direct from Manchester.”

“It’s my dream to play for United on a regular basis,” Pereira said. “It always has been a dream but now I’m here at Granada and I have to focus here to get us out of this situation.

“My dream will always be there and, next season, I will fight for it.”

The Horrible Things Platini Had To Say About Blatter

Featured Image

In a recent interview with French newspaper Le Monde, Michel Platini has given a different outlook to Sepp Blatter.

The pair are currently undergoing a ban from all football related activities from FIFA after it was made known that Blatter paid a non-contract £1.3 million to Platini in 2011.

The illegal act led to long-serving FIFA president, Blatter losing the election and the former UEFA president resigning from his post.

“I do not know what I have done wrong,” Platini said. “Do not always believe what Blatter says. He will always tell you what you want to hear but he is an exceptional political animal.

“In the end, he tried to save his own skin. Blatter does not defend anyone else, he never defended me. He’s the most selfish person I have seen in my life. He thought he would grow old and die and be buried at FIFA.”

“He always said I would be his last scalp,” Platini claimed. “I know he was fixated on me, to the end, ever since the ‘enough is enough’ comment on May 28, 2015, even without considering the jealousy he had for the footballer I was.”

Westbrook Makes History Again, Scores Most Points In A Triple-Double

Featured Image

Russell Westbrook has done it again, just last week he made the first “perfect” triple-double and this week scored the most points in a triple-double.

The Oklahoma City Thunder star scored 57 points , had 13 rebounds and 11 assists in the 114-106 overtime win over the Orlando Magic.

Westbrook is the first player to score the most points, after James Harden and Wilt Chamberlain both scored 53 points in a triple-double.

“That is definitely a blessing,” Westbrook told reporters of his historic night in Orlando, Florida. “I definitely don’t take this game for granted, and I try to come out each night and try to compete at a high level. That is definitely something that is a blessing and definitely something that I can be proud of.”

Bilic Not Bothered By Speculation Surrounding His Future

Featured Image

Slaven Bilic insists he remains calm despite constant speculation over his future as manager of West Ham.

West Ham are currently 12th on the table and have not win five of their last premier league matches, as they prep for a match against Hull City on Saturday.

Bilic was successful in his first year at the club, finishing seventh, but that seems so far fetched now, but he insists to wait till his contract expires.

When asked about the reports of mounting pressure on his position, the 48-year-old said: “It doesn’t worry me, I don’t read about it, I’m not making phone calls or whatever.

“I’m in my job, I am happy and we’re in a position where we can have a good finish to the season. We can climb up a few places if we win games, we can go a few places down if we don’t win games.

“There is still a job to do and I have my contract. At the end of the day my contract is not running out. I have another year here.”

Molina On Joshua-Klitschko: It Is Joshua’s Time Now

Featured Image

Eric Molina who tried and failed to defeat Anthony Joshua, believes the brit is the present and the future of the heavyweight division.

Joshua beat Molina by knockout in December to set up a fight of the year against former heavyweight king, Wladimir Klitschko in Wembley come April 29.

The undefeated Joshua has just 18 professional bouts and is fighting against a man with experience, who was champion of the division for 10 years.

“He’s a great champion and I personally do not see too many heavyweights beating him, he’s very strong,” Molina exclusively told Sky Sports.

“One thing that Joshua has shown is, he’s getting bigger, better, faster, stronger, every fight.

“I don’t want to disrespect Klitschko, but the torch is going to be passed that night. If it hasn’t been already, I think it’s going to officially get passed.”

Molina said: “If he goes through Klitschko, which I believe that he can, there is only one fight left for him after that and that is the fight that everybody knows – the Wilder-Joshua fight.

“After that fight, I don’t really see much else out there for him, maybe Tyson Fury, but yes definitely he is the present and the future.”

Pochettino: I Would Never Coach Barcelona

Featured Image

Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino has ruled out the possibility of managing Barcelona, comparing it with taking a managerial job at Arsenal, seeing as he is an Espanyol fan.

Luis Enrique is set to leave Barcelona at the end of the summer and the former Espanyol manager has been named as one of the favourites to take over. The speculations intensified as he was seen with Bartomeu.

However, Pochettino insists the meeting with Bartomeu was purely coincidental and there is no chance of him sitting in the Barcelona dugout.

He said: “It was a coincidence in a bar in Barcelona last Tuesday because I’ve known him [Bartomeu] for a long time [since] before he became chairman of Barcelona and, you know, many people around us saw us and said hello.

“We spent five minutes together but that was the reality and, you know, the rumours after are impossible to stop.

“But I am an Espanyol supporter and I think I don’t need to say too much. It’s like if one day Daniel Levy sacked me after a few years, for me it would be impossible to manage Arsenal.

“I think in football, sometimes, I know that it is so difficult to keep values and to be loyal with your heart and your emotions but, for me, before being a manager, before being a player, being loyal is more important to be honest and I am an Espanyol fan.

“I love Espanyol and like now Tottenham for me, it would be impossible one day to move to Arsenal. It would be impossible.”

Lagos Court Lifts Ban On Omoni Oboli’s Okafor’s Law

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Thursday lifted the ban imposed on Nollywood producer, Omoni Oboli’s movie, Okafor’s Law.

Meet The Cast Of Omoni Oboli’s New Movie, Okafor’s Law

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Lagos Court lifted the injunction today paving the way for the public launch of the movie on Friday as planned.

Lagos Court Lifts Ban On Omoni Oboli’s Okafor’s LawThe injunction was issued by the judge last Friday following a suit by Canada-based Nigerian, Jude Idada.

The injunction and a confiscation order that came with it had stopped the premiere of the film at IMAX Cinema in Lekki Lagos on 24 March, souring the party mood of the scores of guests at the three-legged event.

Idada, while suing Omoni Oboli, claimed the movie was his intellectual property.

In reply, she said the idea and the movie was hers 100 per cent.

Mourinho: Signing Neymar Will Be Impossible

Featured Image

Jose Mourinho has pointed out that it will be near to impossible for Manchester United to acquire Neymar from Barcelona.

The Brazil forward last week stated his desire to work with a premier league team and would love to work with Mourinho or Guardiola.

However, Barcelona tied Neymar to a five-year contract in October and his improved contract has a £181 million release clause that increases over time.

Asked about a possible Manchester United move for Neymar, Mourinho told ESPN: “It’s speculation. I always try to be objective and pragmatic with clubs and to ask them what they can give me. To ask for Neymar is absurd.

“A club like Barcelona cannot and will not lose Neymar. Although Lionel Messi is still a young player with years ahead of him, he’s almost 30, and Neymar will be the great player of Barcelona post-Messi.

“So much that I think it is like trying to break into a safe – impossible.”

Buhari Cancels Medical Trip To London, Invites Doctors To Nigeria

Featured Image

According to a report, President Muhammadu Buhari has canceled a planned medical trip to London; as he invited his doctors to Nigeria instead for further medical examination.

Nigeria’s 74-year-old leader had travelled to the UK on an extended medical vacation earlier this year before returning 51 days later.

Medical Vacation: Buhari Could Remain In The UK For More Than 4 Months

On his return, the president had hinted that he would soon be returning to the UK for further medical examination, with reports saying he might travel tomorrow.

He had said there might be a need “for further follow-up within weeks.”

However, Sahara Reporters is saying that the medical trip has been cancelled.

The online medium added that the president was advised against leaving Nigeria, given the current economic crisis affecting the country.

Instead, medical doctors are expected from London on Friday, March 31 in Abuja to meet with the president in order to carry further examination.

Meanwhile, the minister of information, Lai Mohammed has said that the federal government’s decision to release the medical expenses of President Buhari was on the basis of national security.

He said: “This matter (the President’s medical bill) has come several times and our position on the matter is quite straight forward.

“What are the President’s conditions of service? What are his entitlements in terms of his well-being and health care? The state is supposed to take responsibility for these.

“We believe that asking for how much has been spent on the health of the President is an issue that we should weigh very well both for national security and also for moral issues. I don’t know why we must divulge such very sensitive information”

Boko Haram: Al-Barnwi Faction Seeks Grassroots Support In Nigeria

Featured Image

There are very strong indications that the Abu Musab Al-Barnawi faction of the notorious Boko Haram group is trying to win over civilians by shunning the indiscriminate violence of its longtime figurehead that has alienated locals.

Following the method in which the group has been carrying out its recent raids in northeast Nigeria, eyewitnesses are of the opinion that the Islamist fighters loyal to Al-Barnawi, the son of the group’s founder, may be seeking for grassroots support, as they have repeatedly told villagers they would not be harmed.

Others say mass violence has been reduced in parts of the northern Borno state around Lake Chad now controlled by Barnawi and Mamman Nur, his right-hand man who is seen by some as the real leader.

But experts tracking the eight-year conflict said it might be a calculated tactic purely to win support.

Herdsman Jabbi Sambo said jihadists loyal to the elusive Boko Haram chief, Abubakar Shekau, repeatedly stole or killed their prized cattle, abducted women and children, and razed their homes.

“Things changed dramatically” when Nur took over control of the Lake Chad area, Sambo, from the town of Shuwaram, he told AFP.

“The raids and the killings stopped and we were free to move with our herds for grazing.”

Nur, the alleged mastermind behind the 2011 bombing of a UN building in Abuja that killed 24, told them in person that he “wanted to build trust and confidence between his group and people in the area”.

The only proviso was that they did not cooperate with the military, he added.

– Developing networks –

Balaraba Abdullahi was abducted from Baga in January 2014 and was held for three years by the group, whose insurgency has killed at least 20,000 people and made more than 2.6 million homeless.

She said conditions were “extreme” in the bush, with a lack of food and widespread disease, while “executions and amputations” for crimes such as adultery, spying or theft were commonplace.

“A little offence would attract death. All of these happened under Shekau but things changed under Mamman Nur,” said the 20-year-old, who was eventually released.

Shekau pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group in March 2015, but in August last year it announced that Barnawi was in charge of its “West Africa province”.

Barnawi, whose father Mohammed Yusuf founded Boko Haram in 2002 with Shekau as his deputy, has criticised the latter’s indiscriminate targeting of civilians and fellow Muslims.

Instead of suicide bombings causing mass casualties, his faction has vowed to concentrate on fighting “Christian crusaders” in Africa, as well as the government and military.

Yan St-Pierre, from the Modern Security Consulting Group in Berlin, said the Barnawi faction was “keeping a low profile and is looking for support in local communities”.

“It’s patiently developing networks around Lake Chad to set itself up for the long term, a bit like Daesh is doing in Iraq and Syria,” he added, using an Arabic acronym for IS.

Omar Mahmood, a researcher with the Institute for Security Studies in Pretoria, said Barnawi’s men were seeking to gain ground and build up their capacity to attack.

The idea was to create a “sustainable safe haven” after being forced out of captured towns and villages by a regional military counter-offensive that began in early 2015.

– ‘Skin-deep’ –

Despite the reassurances of Barnawi fighters, recent events demonstrate the group is still willing to kill civilians.

Last week, three men from Kalari Abdiye in the Konduga area were killed after being accused of providing information to the military. A fourth was mutilated.

Abubakar Gamandi, the head of the Borno fishermen’s union, said his members had warned people that the apparently conciliatory approach was only “skin-deep”.

“They may not be as vicious as Shekau and his men but the Mamman Nur faction cannot be trusted. They are only projecting a humane face because it suits their agenda,” he said.

“If they have to kill to achieve their goal they will be as bad as Shekau or worse. It is all about interest.”

Gamandi said Barnawi’s men slaughtered a cattle driver’s 100 cows “as punishment for selling herds to ‘infidels’” and whipped a fisherman who wanted to sell his catch back home rather than to the group.

Food is looted from civilians who rely on hand-outs from aid agencies, he said.

In effect they were “killing slowly through hunger”, Gamandi said.

Marc-Antoine Perouse de Montclos, from the French Institute of Geopolitics in Paris, said the tactics showed how both factions of Boko Haram were still locally focused.

There appeared to be no financing or even foreign fighters from IS, he said, adding: “The only concrete link… is they have helped Boko Haram’s publicity by relaying it around the world.”

CBN Approves Operational License For Development Bank Of Nigeria

Featured Image

The Central bank of Nigeria (CBN) has approved the grant of a ‘Wholesale Development Finance Institution’ licence to the Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) Plc.

The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun confirmed the development in a statement issued on Wednesday evening by Director of Information, Salisu Na’inna Dambatta.

The statement read: “The approval was conveyed in a letter addressed to the Managing Director/Chief Executive of Officer of DBN dated March 28, 2017.

“The letter was signed by the Deputy Governor of the CBN in charge of Financial System Stability.

“The approval was subject to meeting the minimum capital requirement of N100 billion and the reconstitution of the Board of the Bank and reviewing its organogram.”

The finance minister added that DBN will have access to US$1.3bn (N396.5 billion) which has been jointly provided by the World Bank (WB), KfW (German Development Bank), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Agence Française de Development (French Development Agency).

“The bank is also finalising agreements with the European Investment Bank (EIB),” she said.

The minister equally stated that DBN will provide loans to all sectors of the economy, including, manufacturing, services and other industries not currently served by existing development banks, thereby filling an important gap in the provision of finance to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

As a wholesale bank, the DBN will lend wholesale to microfinance banks, which will on-lend medium to long-term loans to MSMEs.

The MSMEs contribute about 48.47 percent to the Gross Domestic Products (GDP) of Nigeria but have access to only about 5 percent of lending from Deposit Money Banks (DMBs).

It added that the Federal Government “expects that the influx of additional capital from the DBN will lower borrowing rates and the longer tenure of the loans, will provide the required flexibility in the management of cash flows, giving businesses the opportunity to make capital improvements, and acquire equipment or supplies.”

The DBN, was conceived in 2014 however, its take-off had been fraught with delays.

The President Muhammadu Buhari led administration inherited the project with a determination to resolve all outstanding issues and set a target of 2017 for its take-off.

The Enemy Within And The Cold-Blooded Threat From Arewa [2] – Fani-Kayode

The Enemy Within And The Cold-Blooded Threat From Arewa [2] – Fani-Kayode

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

Apart from Afenifere, the OPC and a number of noble and courageous elders and leaders hardly anyone else from the south west has spoken up publicly for the Ifes and the Yoruba in this matter and that is a crying shame.

What happened to the voices of the APC Governors in Yorubaland? What happened to the voice of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo?

What happened to the voices of the respected Pa Bisi Akande and the great Jagaban of Borgu, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu?

We need to hear from all of these distinguished personalities now more than ever before.

The celebrated American spy and defector Mr. Edward Snowdon urged public figures and leaders throughout the world to

“speak NOT because it is SAFE but because it is RIGHT”.

How right he is!

The black American civil rights leader,

Dr. Martin Luther King jnr. took it a step further by saying,

“in the end we will remember not the words of our enemies but the silence of our friends”.

Finally, in his famous poem titled ‘The Inferno”, the great poet and immortal writer Dante Alighieri wrote. “the hottest places in hell are reserved for those who in times of moral crisis preserve their neutrality”.

Those who remain silent as their compatriots and kith and kin are butchered have much to learn from the words of these three great and deeply profound men.

When faced with the level of orchestrated carnage and the magnitude of pure malvolence and evil that was unleashed on the local indigenous population by the Hausa Fulani in Ile-Ife every single Yoruba leader worth his salt has a solemn duty and obligation before God to condemn it and speak out against it.

Honor and decency demands that much from each and every one of us and, more importantly, we owe it to the dead and to those that were cruelly butchered and cut short in their prime.

We can appreciate the fact that the Presidency and the Federal Government will not commiserate with us for those that we lost in the conflict given their rabid pro-Hausa Fulani disposition but we cannot comprehend the devastating and incomprehensible silence that comes from our fellow Yorubas who happen to be leaders, members and supporters of the ruling Hausa Fulani-led APC.

Instead of standing in solidarity with us and publicly condemning those that drew first blood in the carnage, a few identifiable individuals within their ranks who have clearly lost their way and who ought to know better, are talking rubbish, running for cover and exhibiting nothing but good old fashioned trepidation and fear.

Worse still they hate those of us that have the courage of our convictions and that are prepared to stand up, pick up the gauntlet and face the challenge.

One wonders why this is so? Could it be because, as is being speculated, they had assured their hegemonist masters that they had Yorubaland under lock and key and that they could go ahead and kill as many of our people as they pleased?

Could it be because they assured them that no-one would challenge them or complain when they did so?

Is it possible, as many believe, that things have got that bad and that those from the south west that suffer from this slavish disposition have degenerated to this level?

If so then what a tragedy this is! What a shame! What cowardice! What treachery! And all in return for a few measly crumbs from their master’s table.

It is not enough that even their leader Bola Tinubu is being systematically squeezed and stylishly humiliated by the Hausa Fulani government that he helped put in power. It is not enough that they have cheated and humiliated him on numerous occasions.

It is not enough that they have taken the lion out of the Lion of Bourdiĺlon. It is not enough that his Yoruba supporters and followers in the APC have been reduced to the demeaning status of colourless collaborators and lily-livered vassals.

Worse still they have decided that no matter what they will continue to beg and play the role of “Uncle Tom’s” and “house niggers” till the very end.

They have sold their souls to the devil for thirty pieces of silver and they have traded in their heritage for a mess of pottage.

Yet the truth is that whether they like it or not we will continue to speak out loudly and clearly against the atrocities that their paymasters are unleashing on Nigerians.

Even though these very same traitors and cowards have displayed their greed and ignorance by openly opposing the restructuring agenda and have consistently opposed those of us that believe in the right of self-determination, we will not relent.

We will continue to speak out and oppose the Hausa Fulani agenda for our nation. We will continue to oppose the hideous crimes against humanity and the genocide that the Fulani herdsmen are subjecting so many people to ALL over the country.

We will continue to take the risks to life and liberty and face the persecution that comes with it.

We will also continue to take their dirty insults and bear the inglorious display of their shameless ingratitude.

We will pay whatever price that we must pay to be counted amongst those that defended, protected and ultimately liberated the great people of the south and the Middle Belt from the hegemony and subjugation of the scions of Usman Dan Fodio, the Sons of Futa Jalon and the shameless and gutless slaves that support and encourage them.

We will do this for three reasons: firstly because we are led by the Holy Spirit to do so, secondly because we despise the brazen attempt to humiliate and enslave our people and thirdly because we abhor violence, genocide, ethnic cleansing and the shedding of innocent human blood.

The Bible says we should “resist evil”. And what we are facing in the hands of the Fulani militias and herdsmen and the wider Hausa Fulani agenda in Nigeria today is the greatest evil that the African continent has ever seen or known.

It takes an educated mind to appreciate that. Sadly most of those that are their slaves are barely educated. They lack confidence and suffer from low self-esteem.

Instead of rising up to the occasion, trusting in the Lord and being strong and confident in the power of His might, they are feeble-minded, faithless, treacherous, cowardly and ignorant.

It is in that context that I see the actions (or inactions) and hear the malicious words and insidious and insulting rantings of the grasshoppers and lilliputians that are lamenting about my contributions on the Hausa Fulani/ Yoruba conflict.

Whatever they say or do we shall not be deterred. The struggle continues and victory is assured.

Yet instead of getting any better things appear to be getting worse. For example such was the brutality and barbarity that the Fulani militias and herdsmen visited on the people of Benue state just last week that Samuel Ortom, the Governor and Chief Security Officer of that state, told the world that he would “ban the Fulani herdsmen” from coming to his state.

As if things were not bad enough two days later yet another threat of mass murder was issued by the Fulani militias. This time it was in Kwara state, under the auspices of their umbrella organisation called Miyetti Allah. They said that they would kill anyone in Kwara state that challenged or confronted their people. That is how badly things have degenerated.

Yet the nightmare goes on unabated.

Four days ago yet another person was hacked into pieces by the Fulani militias.

This time it was a staff of Delta State University in Abraka. When I called these barbarians bloodsucking tsetse flies in 2015 many complained about my use of words. Are those people still complaining now?

It is this type of murderous instinct, homicidal inclination, cold-blooded callousness, brazen impunity, reckless lawlessness and baseless arrogance that allowed a well-known Fulani Prince (as he then was) with Islamic fundamentalist tendencies, a salafist soul and a wahabbi spirit to publicly behead Gideon Akaluka in Kano in the mid-1990’s and yet escape prosecution and evade justice simply because of who and what he is and where he comes from.

From the foregoing it is clear that in Nigeria some are more equal than others before the law and some can literally get away with murder.

The truth is that we are really in trouble.

The cow-lovers have charmed us with their suya and barbecued cow meat. We are under a terrible spell.

We are bound in awe and fear of them and we have been turned into their perpetual slaves.

Thousands have been slaughtered all over the country by these killer herdsmen in the last two years. Are they not worse than vampires from the pit of hell?

They feed on the blood of the innocent: it strengthens the demons that drive them, it fuels their confidence and it gives them satanic power. The more people they kill, the more power the devil gives them and the more violence, arrogance and impunity they display.

Yet, as with all things that comes from satan, that power is always short-lived and it comes at a terrible price.

These are just some of the things that the enemy within and those that have sold their souls to our collective oppressors would do well to consider.

Meanwhile those of us that yearn for freedom and that have dedicated our lives to the liberation of our people shall continue to commit our noble cause into the hands of the Living God.

He is faithful and true and, in the end, He will not only break our yoke of servitude but He will also grant us glorious victory and bring us to an expected end.

He is ever faithful and ever sure: that is why they call Him the Lord of Hosts and the Ancient of Days.

That is why no matter what they say or do, we simply smile and count it all as joy. Why? Because we know that with our God ALL things are possible and though the night may be dark, joy comes in the morning. Blessed be His name. (CONCLUDED).

Nigerian business mogul, politician and entrepreneur, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, has reacted with a denial to speculations that he was arrested by operatives of Department of State Services (DSS).

The oil magnate, who made the denial known today in a phone chat with The Guardian, added that the rumours were a propaganda against him.

He told the newspaper that: “If I am arrested, I would not be talking with you now They should continue writing, but those who are in doubt should come and watch football match tomorrow because I would be there.”

Earlier today, several online platforms (not 360Nobs) had reported that the founder of Capital Oil was arrested and detained by the premier security outfit.

Also speaking in rebuttal, an aide of the founder of Ifeanyi Ubah Football club, said attempts to smear the good name  of his boss would be in futility.

“I can tell you that my boss’s good name in the country today cannot be smeared. He is a hardworking businessman. All these propaganda about him is because he has become a big force to be reckoned with in Nigeria,” the aide who pleaded not to be mentioned said.

2017 UTME: JAMB Reduces Questions, Hours For Exam | 240,000 Candidates Register In 7 Days

Featured Image

As from 2017, candidates sitting for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) would have to spend two hours instead of three hours, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), said on Wednesday.

2017 UTME: Dear Jambites, Here’s How To Create Your Profile On The JAMB Portal

The Apex examination body further said that it has reduced Use of English questions from 100 questions to 60 questions, while the other three subjects would be 40 questions each, making a total of 180 questions.

This disclosure was made by the Registrar/Chief Executive of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, in Kaduna, during the opening ceremony of a strategic planning retreat on the monitoring, supervision and evaluation of 2017 UTME with the theme: “Inclusiveness and sensitisation of key external actors.”

He said, “We are going to reduce the duration of the examination for this year’s UTME. You cannot keep children of this age for three hours. For their age, the maximum time you can keep them is two hours. So, we are considering the reduction in the time they spend because once it is more than two hours you can’t expect that they will retain their presence of mind.”

The Board also said that a total of 240,000 candidates have so far registered for the examination which has been scheduled for May 20, barely one week after the commencement of the sale of forms which is expected to end on April 22.

JAMB Shares More Details On The Conduct Of 2017 UTME

He said JAMB has also made some changes in the use of computer for the test.

“From the general feedback on the adoption of the Computer Based Test mode, we have noted the challenge of computer low level literacy of some candidates, especially with the phobia for the mouse. This has been responsible partly for the call by some people for reversal to the Paper and Pencil Test mode. In order to ensure equity and level playing field for all candidates taking the UTME, JAMB has designed a system that will allow candidates to use only eight keys without the use of the mouse.

“All the candidates need to do is to press the letters A,B,C,D for responses(answer) to questions and keys: P = Previous question, N = Next question, S = Submit responses when candidate has finished examination R = Reverse (do not intend to go further to submit again).”

“In order to amplify the past efforts and also expand the frontiers of equity and inclusiveness, we have met with the executive committee of the Association of Blind Persons in Nigeria at the board’s headquarters in Abuja in February 2017 and we also met with prospective blind candidates from a school for the blind in Lagos about two weeks ago at the University of Lagos.

“The outcome of these meetings revealed that while the challenged group fully appreciates the board’s recent efforts at improving and upgrading the facilities for the administration of the board’s examination for the blind candidates.”

Oloyede added that out of 13 commercial banks and the Nigeria Postal Service that have signified interest in the sales of the admission forms, only nine have paid for the number of application documents they required in the first instance.

Indian Mob Bashes Kenyan Woman, Mistook Her For A Nigerian

Featured Image

Africans living in northern India are locking themselves indoors in terror after a spate of mob attacks have left several hospitalized.

It was gathered that a 24-year-old Kenyan woman was dragged out of a taxi on Wednesday and bashed by a racist mob in India, who mistook her for a Nigerian.

The Kenyan victim, Maria Burendi, said she left her home in Alistonia society at 6.15am to collect an African wig and some food from a friend at DPS Society.

While on her way, she said the cab was stopped at 6.30am near the Omicorn roundabout by 10-12 men who then beat her up.

“They stopped the car and asked me to get out,” Maria told TOI over the phone.

“When the cabbie and I stepped out, they started slapping me saying that Nigerians are bad. When I said that I was a Kenyan, one of the guys asked them to stop and they relented.”

“I was not expecting this. I wanted to buy some food items but could not. Later I thought I could collect my African hair wig from my friend’s place in Greater Noida. It was then that the attack took place,” she said.

However, police later in the evening said her version was doubtful.

They said they nabbed the cab driver and when he was questioned, he denied any such incident happened.

Multiple attacks on Kenyan and Nigerian students have been reported this week in Greater Noida, 18 miles southeast of the capital New Delhi.

Nine Nigerians were attacked, including five who were wounded and two who were hospitalized with undisclosed injuries, said Abike Dabiri, Nigeria’s special assistant on foreign affairs and diaspora.

Wenger: I’ve Not Made A Decision Yet

Featured Image

Arsene Wenger has stated he has not made a final decision on his future at Arsenal, ahead of the match against City on Sunday.

Arsenal has lost six of their last nine matches, which has sent them out of the Champions League and has them struggling to finish in the top four.

The inadequacies of the Gunners under Wenger in recent matches has led to protests from the fans.

The Frenchman, speaking at a press conference on Thursday, said: “I am very clear in my mind. Do I stay two more years?

“My commitment will be the same. It does not influence my attitude. I’ve always been clear in my mind. It’s a subject that is not sorted completely.”

Wenger refuted suggestions that doubts over his future were impacting on the team’s performance, adding: “I believe the priority in life is to focus on what is important. Not to look for excuses.

“The results aren’t going as we want. The priority is on the pitch. The big professional is to perform on the football pitch.”

Mourinho: Managing Brazil Will Be Exciting

Featured Image

Jose Mourinho has noted he would love to coach Brazil, a job he would find exciting, but will also want an easy job.

The Portuguese is heralded as one of the best in his position as a manager, having gone from Chelsea, to Inter, to Madrid and now United.

He has stated his desire to go into national management and has cited that he would love a job easier than the one he has at United.

“I think following Manchester United I need an easier job than Manchester United,” Mourinho told ESPN Brasil.

“Coaching the Brazilian team should be more difficult. Obviously it would be exciting. Any coach wants to work with the best clubs and with the best.

“The Brazilian team is obviously a leader of success, obviously with talent, no matter the generation, talent always appears.

“But I have to confess that it must be difficult. In every Brazilian there is a coach, in every journalist there is a better coach than the coach.

“I think it must be a difficult country to work for, but also a passionate one.”
