Hazard On Messi Comparisons: I Am No Artist Like Him

Featured Image

Chelsea star and Belgium captain Eden Hazard does not think he is worthy enough to be compared to Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi.

The attacking midfielder has produced some top of the drawer performances this season, as Chelsea sit seven points clear of Tottenham.

Hazard’s performances has led to some sections of the media comparing him to Messi, but the 26-year-old doesn’t think he’s at that level.

“For me, the real artists are [Zinedine] Zidane and Ronaldinho. [Juan Roman] Riquelme as well for the way he moves and passes the ball,” Hazard told France Football.

“And then there is Messi. What he does with the ball is something else. I do not see myself at that level. It is up to others to make such comments. I am not going to proclaim myself an artist like him.

“I just want to bring happiness to the fans. The people who come to the stadium want to enjoy themselves and see a spectacle. It is up to us, the players, to make them happy.

“I have been a creative player ever since I was a child. You cannot practice it. Of course, I have worked hard to get where I am, but it is a skill I have that I have improved. It is natural to me. But you have to do it at the right time.

“The ball is my friend. We go way back. He is my most faithful friend. I caress the ball, but that is not always easy when I dribble. I can caress it when I shoot, like Thierry Henry. I can treat the ball like a woman, like a friend, like an elderly person.”

Wijnaldum Criticises Everton For Challenges Against Liverpool

Featured Image

Georginio Wijnaldum has hit out at Everton for some of their challenges on his teammates in the Merseyside derby.

Ross Barkley and Ashley Williams escaped red cards and were only shown yellow cards for their tackles on Liverpool players.

Wijnaldum believes there should have been at least one red card for their rivals, stating his teammate could have been injured from one of the challenges.

Wijnaldum told SSNHQ: “The tackles, especially those from the players from Everton made on our players, it was hard to see, hard to accept, because I think you can play the game really hard, but not with the intention to give someone an injury.

“For me, my opinion, that is a bad thing, because you have to play the game fair. Of course you can play hard, to win, but not to injure the player, because that’s not part of the game.

“I saw a few, even in the replay, I saw a few tackles that had to be red.”

Pochettino Tells Tottenham Not To Give Up On Title Chase

Featured Image

Mauricio Pochettino has urged his players not to give up fighting for the title and battle for it till the end.

Last season saw Tottenham’s title hopes hit the rocks, as a loss to Chelsea destabilised the rest of their season, losing their final two matches of the season.

Their are nine games left in the league and the gap between Chelsea and Tottenham has reduced to seven points. The deficit could become four after Chelsea face City on Wednesday.

The Argentinian said: “We talk a lot about last season. It’s true that in football it’s important to learn from the good and the bad experiences.

“For me it’s easy to explain. It’s about mentality and about not giving up. It wasn’t about physical condition. We switched off in our minds after Chelsea and we conceded second place to Arsenal. The Argentinian said: “We talk a lot about last season. “For me it’s easy to explain. It’s about mentality and about not giving up. It wasn’t about physical condition. We switched off in our minds after Chelsea and we conceded second place to Arsenal.

“We need to learn to never give up; to fight and concentrate to the end. It’s about the energy in your mind not just your body. We reduced the gap but it is still a big gap; seven (points) is a massive difference.

“But all can happen. That’s a good lesson for all. Belief and faith is the most important thing in football. Nothing is impossible. The Premier League is tough to play and win every game but it can happen, yes, and our minds must be positive, and try to imagine, and dream, and believe, and give our best.”

Gary Neville Critical of Mesut Ozil, Laurent Koscielny, Theo Walcott

Featured Image

Gary Neville has laid into Arsenal trio Laurent Koscielny, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil following the Gunners’ 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

After the match, Neville picked out Koscielny, Walcott and Ozil as a trio that should be offering more to their manager, insisting that the character of all three players should be called into question.

“I might be being a bit harsh here, but I’m going to say them anyway. Koscielny always goes off. He’s a centre-back. He plays to half-time and then goes off. He might have a bit of a problem with his Achilles and I might be being very harsh, but he went off against Bayern Munich and went off in a big game today,” Neville told Sky Sports News.

“Walcott trudges off the pitch. He hasn’t played well, but his attitude is, ‘I’ve scored a goal, you shouldn’t take me off.’ Yes you should, you were poor and that’s a matter of fact. Mesut Ozil goes through on goal and bottles out of a challenge when his manager’s backside is on the line. Go for a 50-50 or nick in front and win a penalty.

“There’s three instances today and I’m being harsh, but if you’re talking about throwing the cat among the pigeons, let’s do it. Let’s throw it out there. Arsene Wenger deserved for Koscielny to at least have a go for five minutes in the second half. Go on mate, have a go for us. No, he didn’t.”

“Theo Walcott should sprint off the pitch and shake the manager’s hand and say, ‘Thanks very much for giving me a game today. I’m lucky.’ Mesut Ozil should go for a 50-50 with the goalkeeper. That would help, wouldn’t it?”

“Seven Points Is “A Massive Difference” -Mauricio Pochettino

Featured Image

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has acknowledged that his side still have a lot of work to do in order to catch Premier League leaders Chelsea.

After Chelsea lost at home to Crystal Palace, Spurs were able to reduce the margin behind their London rivals to seven points with a 2-0 victory over Burnley.

Pochettino says that the gap is still “a massive difference”, but he has suggested that “nothing is impossible” between now and the end of the season.

The 45-year-old told reporters: “We reduced the gap by three points but it’s still a big gap, seven is a massive difference.

“In football, all can happen. That’s a good reason for all – belief is the most important thing in football – not only quality, running or being strong. Belief, faith and fight. Nothing is impossible in football and that is our idea, our philosophy.”

Everton Youngster Tom Davies Signs New Long-term Contract

Featured Image

Everton have announced that youngster Tom Davies has signed a new five-year contract at Goodison Park.

This season, the 18-year-old has established himself as a regular start in the Toffees first team, and the club and manager Ronald Koeman have decided to rewarded the teenager with a long-term contract on Merseyside.

Davies told their official website: “It means everything to me to get a chance to be in the Everton first team and to try to stay there. It’s an unbelievable feeling.

“Everton has a long tradition of bringing young players through and the incentive has always been there for me to try to progress with the club.

“I used to look at Mikel Arteta and aspire to be out there playing alongside my heroes and, obviously, Wayne Rooney and Ross Barkley who came through the academy here, too, have been inspirational figures for me.

“People like David Unsworth have been great in helping me and other players to develop our game and become Everton players and it’s a privilege to be playing under this manager with everything he’s done and achieved in the game. I’m learning more and improving every day and I’m delighted to have been given this opportunity by the club.”

Manager Ronald Koeman said: “It’s a case of well done, Tom. He is maybe the young player who has improved the most in the last few months. He went straight into the team performing at a high level and has kept his feet on the ground.”

Liverpool-born Davies was handed his Premier League debut by manager Roberto Martínez on April 16 last year in a draw with Southampton at Goodison Park.

He was then given his first start for by interim manager David Unsworth in the win over Norwich on the final day of last season, after Martinez was sacked.

West Brom Manager Tony Pulis Unsure About Chances Of Signing Watford Striker Troy Deeney

Featured Image

West Brom boss Tony Pulis has admitted that any possible move for Troy Deeney would probably end in failure.

The Baggies chief stopped short of denying interest in the striker but conceded Watford will want to keep their captain.

“I don’t think they’d want to sell him anyway,” he said. “I’ve got a lot of time for Troy, he’s come through the lower leagues and it’s brilliant to see him in the Premier League. But he’s a Watford player, and I’ll show Watford respect.

“He didn’t play on Saturday (a 1-0 win over Sunderland) and they won and played very well. He has been a big influence at that football club and he has been a talisman over the last few years.”

Tony Pulis insisted he has been impressed with the way Deeney has grown up since he was jailed in 2012, serving three months, following a fight in Birmingham.

He added: “There’s lots of examples in football. A lot of these lads are working class lads, things have happened in early life, they’ve grown up, that’s what growing up is about; becoming more mature, more focused and Troy has certainly done that. He’s had a smashing career and fair play to him.”

Brendan Rodgers Plays Down Speculation Linking Him With Arsenal’s Job

Featured Image

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has played down the suggestion he could take over at Arsenal if Arsene Wenger decides to step down this summer.

Brendan Rodgers has already led Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title in his first season in charge.

When asked in an interview with talkSPORT about being mentioned as a possible successor to Wenger, Rodgers said he had no immediate plans to return to the Premier League.

“One day I will look to go back [to the Premier League]. I wouldn’t rule out going abroad as well. But at this moment in time my only focus is for Celtic,” Rodgers said. “I love it here, I love the life up here and I want to continue to build the club and continue with the success.

“Maybe a few years ago I was super-ambitious … I still am ambitious but being at Celtic makes you reassess. You have to look at what you have got as well.

“As a Celtic supporter, I know what they want and I want to try and give them as much as I possibly can and when I do leave here, leave a legacy that allows for the next guy to come in and hopefully take it on again.”

Henry: Ozil Has To Be At His Best In All Games

Featured Image

Thierry Henry has criticised Mesut Ozil for not doing enough, suggesting his performances have not been up to standard.

The midfielder was criticised for his performance in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Manchester City, despite supplying his 50th assist for Arsenal.

“He can clearly play and last year everyone was praising him,” Henry said to Sky Sports. “This year, he is struggling because he doesn’t do enough on a daily basis.

“When he plays in an Arsenal shirt, sometimes it is not up to the standard of Arsenal.

“I’m a big admirer of him and how he plays but if he was in my old team, I know a couple of guys would have had a go at him and maybe that is what he needs.

“In my old team, everyone talked. Sylvain Wiltord talked. Edu the same. Even Nwankwo Kanu would have said something. Jens Lehmann, he was talking all the time. We had guys at it throughout the team.”

Henry added: “When he has a good game, he is unstoppable. He is a World Cup champion, he won at Real Madrid and he won two cups with Arsenal.

“But you need to play like that all the time. It can’t be from time to time.”

NANS Threaten To Invade Kirikiri Over Imprisoned Unilag Students

Featured Image

The National Association of Nigerian Students has given the Special Offences Mobile Court in Lagos a 24-hour ultimatum to release 13 students of the University of Lagos who are currently being detained at the Kirikiri Maximum Prisons.

The organisation threatened to relocate its Headquarters to the Prison in solidarity with its members, should government continue to keep them in captivity.

According to reports, the Mobile Court had remanded the 13 UNILAG students in Kirikiri Prisons, pending their bail application on Saturday as they were alleged to have unlawfully invaded the premises of Television Continental (TVC) in Lagos. The students were charged with two counts of unlawful invasion and disruption of activities, and have all plead ‘not guilty’ to the charges.

The accused persons, standing trial before Chief Magistrate P.E Nwaka are Femi Adeyeye, Toni Aina, Kodri Yaya, Asimi Oladime, Ismahim Olalekan, Segun Okesola, Abdulazeez Soneye, Idris Abogunloko, Muyiwa Olaniyi, Toheed Oladimeji, Joseph Akanni, Lukumon Olusegun, and Abiodun Agbeniyi.

The magistrate, who ordered that the accused be remanded in prison, adjourned the case till April 6 for a determination of their bail.

However, President of NANS, Chinonso Obasi, on Monday in Abuja, condemned the action of the court, saying “After a painstaking review of the circumstances surrounding the draconian ruling, we have resolved to demand the unconditional release of these students within 24 hours.”

“Consequently, we make bold to state that if at the expiration of our 24 hours ultimatum, these innocent students are not released without strings, we shall relocate the Headquarters of NANS to Kirikiri in solidarity with our members.

“We also hope that the authorities would use the opportunity of the 24 hours ultimatum to either expand the facilities of Kirikiri prison or release our colleagues, as they can see we are serious and determined by offering them a fair choice.”

Obasi said if the best the Magistrate could do in the prevailing circumstances was to clamp University students to a prison facility and thereby unwittingly radicalise them, NANS shall help him to understand the implications of his unbalanced judgement that does not tally with the offence allegedly committed.

“Being first-time offenders, the Magistrate, if ever he was once a University student, would have handed down a stern warning and demand of good behaviour instead of sending them to prison for whatever reasons.”

“In saner climes what the Magistrate should have done was to certify that the suspects are bonafide students and release them to their school authorities or student leaders. But rather than factor in the extenuating circumstances of their protest, the Magistrate apparently  in a hurry to please some hidden forces, decided to blunt the proper socialisation of 13 Nigerian leaders of tomorrow.”  He added.

Wilder: I’m On A Better Level Than AJ

Featured Image

American heavyweight boxer Deontay Wilder is pretty confident he is not on the same level as his heavyweight rival, Anthony Joshua.

The WBC world champion believes his experience and ability to adapt in the ring, puts him in a whole other niche than the undefeated British boxer.

Anthony Joshua will be facing Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley come April 29 and Wilder is nursing the idea of facing him in the ring.

“I definitely feel like I’m on a whole ‘nother level than Joshua,” he told Fight Hype.

“I’ve been in this game for a while now. I’m very experienced. I think I’ve seen every style to see, you know, the major styles that I need to see.

“I think I’ve seen it, I’ve learned it, and that’s what allows me to adjust in the ring and do my thing.

“I definitely feel and know that I’m in another league of my own when you compare the two of us. ”

“I mean, if you look at Joshua, Klitschko, and [Joseph] Parker, Parker has the WBO belt, and you take those three and put me up on a chart and say which one would be the most exciting fight, a lot of people would think the Joshua fight would be the most exciting fight out of the three and I think I agree,” he said.

Nigerian Army Announces Commencement Of Its War College

Featured Image

The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of Army War College, with a number of senior lieutenant colonels and junior colonels already nominated as pioneer students.

The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, who made the announcement on Monday at the 1st quarter Chief of Army Staff conference in Maiduguri, said the college will begin this month.

“This aimed at bridging the gap between operational and strategic level commanders, who will be well grounded in operational art, design, campaign, planning, decision making process as well as the theories of peace and war,’’ he said.

Mr. Buratai noted that apart from the Boko Haram insurgency, the country still had other security challenges to contend with.

He said the army had to progress as a fighting organisation and brace up to those evolving security challenges.

Buratai also announced the upgrading of the Nigerian Army Institute of Technology and Environmental Studies, Biu in Borno to University of Technology and Environmental Studies.

He said the concept behind the upgrading was to make the institution a “solution provider’’ and centre of excellence for variety of technically related ventures such as power generation and armament production.

According to Mr. Buratai, the Borno Government has allocated 500 hectares of land for the project.

NAN reports that he used the occasion to warn against “unauthorised disclosure of classified information, as well as the inappropriate use of the social media’’ by personnel of the army.

Costa: We Can Knock City Out Of Title Race With A Win

Featured Image

Diego Costa believes the match against Manchester City is a six-point affair and a win for Chelsea will rule City out of the title race.

The Blues suffered a shock defeat on Saturday, as Crystal Palace emerged 2-1 winners at the Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s lead at the top has reduced to seven points, with Tottenham hot on Chelsea’s heels and a Wednesday game against City could do more damage or increase the advantage of the blues.

“After a loss at home and with a rival closing the gap the importance of the game only grows,” Costa is quoted as saying by ESPN Brasil.

“We know this game against Manchester City will be a six-point affair since if we win the game they will [practically] be out of the title race while we keep the advantage.

“It also depends on the match between Tottenham and Swansea. In any case, we will do our best.

“We hope that the next game the ball will go in, and that we do a better job at handling these counter-attacking plays so we do not suffer from early goals again, and thus avoid what happened [against Palace].”

2017 UTME: 600,000 Candidates Register As JAMB Insists ‘No Extension’

Featured Image

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has so far registered 600, 000 candidates for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across the country.

Fabian Benjamin, Head of Public Relations JAMB, made this known on Monday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bwari, FCT.

2017 UTME: JAMB Introduces Easy Method To Obtain Pin For Registration

He said that JAMB was not going to extend the registration period, saying that before deadline every candidate will register.

The spokesman said that measures were on ground to ensure the regulated platform could help candidates to get registered before the end of the month and to prevent irregularities in registration.

Mr. Benjamin said some applicants were seeking extension of the UTME registration deadline due to irregularities in the ongoing registration process.

According to him, it is wrong for any person to also think that there is inadequacy in the number of centres stipulated to register candidates for the UTME.

“We have already registered 600, 000 candidates since sales of form began March 20, how can there be inadequate centres or lack of manpower, when we have more than 400 centres.

“There is no such delay as alleged by some candidates, the issue here is that plenty people are registering for the UTME at the same time.

“The internet is working, if it is not working how then we arrived at the total of 600, 000 that have so far been duly registered.

“Large numbers of applicants seeking to register for UTME go to the Banks allocated for the exercise that is why there seem to be some form of delays and irregularities.

“Before we used three banks and now it is 15 banks because the period is short, but we are not going to extend the registration period, before deadline every candidate will register,” he said.

JAMB spokesman also said that the initiative for use of the platform to register candidates for the UTME was in line with the Board’s policy to ensure standards operation.

He, however, said that 25 persons have been arrested and handed over to the police for illegal registration and sale of the 2017 UTME materials to candidates across the country.

JAMB And Nigerian Banks Trade Blames Over 2017 UTME Registration Delay

He mentioned that the suspects were arrested by a combined team of Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU); members of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Police Force.

Boko Haram Threatens To Behead Cameroonian President Paul Biya [Watch Video]

Featured Image

Nigeria’s notorious terror group Boko Haram has released a new video in which it threatened to invade Cameroon and behead its President Paul Biya.

“I would behead you Paul Biya, it’s me that would behead you with the left hand, be ready,” a Boko Haram commander can be seen speaking in French and displaying Biya’s picture in a news magazine in the 6-minute video.

Subsequently, the insurgent dropped the magazine after which he crushed Biya’s face with his leg, saying “I would behead you, imbecile, sluggard!”.

The top commander of Islamic death cult further said he would decapitate Biya with the left hand, calling him a bigger Christian.

The terrorist warns residents of other parts of Cameroon that the Boko Haram members were on their way to invade the country.

He warned residents of Maroua, Cameroon’s far north capital, and those in the northern region capital of Garoua, and Ngaoundere that fighters were coming.

Biya is a catholic who regularly attends church service in Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon.

The Boko Haram commander shows shoes, helmets and other military items he claimed belonged to Cameroonian soldiers.

“These are their shoes they left behind, these are their helmets they left behind, these are their mats for prayers they left behind.

“They are fighting God and praying again? I do not understand why you’re still praying?” The Boko Haram terrorist continued in French.

“We are ready to arrive. We are on our way to Maroua, Garoua and Ngaoundere,” he said, naming three capital in northern Cameroon.

“We are on our way to Ebolowa, Yaounde, we will arrive in God’s name,” he added, mentioning the capital of President Paul Biya’s region in the South and the country’s capital itself in Yaounde.

The man displayed identity cards belonging to Cameroonian citizens.

One of the identity cards he placed closer to the camera, in his words, belongs to the minister of defence.

BREAKING: Nigerians Using New Passport Must Now Seek NDLEA Approval To Obtain Visa

Featured Image

The Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, Harry Purwanto, has revealed that Nigerians with new passports seeking to travel to the country will need to present a certificate of recommendation from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), among other documents, to process their visas.

Purwanto, who made this disclosure known while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday, said the new visa policy was in line with global measures to promote safety.

According to him, the visa conditionals were reviewed in October 2016.

He, however, said it was easier for those with frequently used passports to get visas.

He explained that applicants seeking to travel to Indonesia also need to be invited or have certain recommendations to visit that country.

The envoy added that the policy had made visa application process for Nigerians “quite tough” but added that it was for the safety of all.

“We (the embassy) could authorise the issuance of visas without having to get in touch with Jakarta; but since October 2016, we have to send visa applications from here to Jakarta for approval.

“We here can make only recommendations on visa applications, especially if applicants have programmes to undertake in Indonesia, but it is at the discretion of authorities in Jakarta to approve the visas that will be issued.

He also said that about 2,000 visas were issued to Nigerians in 2016.

Purwanto also said that in 2015, the embassy issued 2,000 visas.

Real Madrid Plotting Move For Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara

Featured Image

Real are weighing up making a summer move for Bayern midfielder Thiago Alcantara, reports OK Diario.

Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is a huge admirer of the Spain international and as a result senior Bernabeu figures are plotting a way to sign him this summer.

However, the European champions are aware that it will be virtually impossible to lure Thiago to the Spanish capital. The 25-year-old’s former club Barcelona showed interest in re-signing him lately and Bayern indicated that they have no intention of selling him by slapping a prohibitive €90m price tag on him.

In addition, Thiago, who is under contract until 2019, recently initiated contract renewal talks with the German champions.

‘Luke Shaw Needs To Take A Look At Himself”- Phil Neville

Featured Image

Phil Neville has suggested that Luke Shaw should listen to the criticism aimed at him by manager Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho has said that Shaw is “a long way behind” the rest of the squad on the training pitch as he continues to leave the England international down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Neville – who spent 10 years of his professional career at United – appears to back Mourinho’s stance, saying that Shaw should “take a massive look at himself”, but he feels that the 21-year-old can still go on to have a successful period at his current club.

The 40-year-old told BBC Radio 5 live: “He needs to take massive look at himself. On Saturday Jose Mourinho picked Ashley Young at left-back. He is a winger. He has played Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo at left-back. These are not out and out left-backs.

“He has potential to be one of best left-backs in Europe. I really believe in this kid. He needs to take a long look at himself.

“It might just be Jose trying to get something out of him. That attitude and professionalism that is needed to be the number one left-back at United. I am disappointed he is not number one. There must be reasons for that.”

Atletico Madrid Youngster Theo Hernandez Refuses To Rule Out Real Madrid Move

Featured Image

Atletico youngster Theo Hernandez has refused to rule out a future move to cross-city rivals Real.

The left back, 19, is starring on loan at Alaves and has attracted attention from several big clubs over the past year.

Barca and Man City were among his suitors last summer, but he decided to pen a contract extension at Atleti and head out on loan to Alaves instead of leaving the Vicente Calderon on a permanent deal.

AS reports that Real, Liverpool and Marseille are among his current suitors and he has hinted that he would not be averse to a future switch to the Bernabeu.

Speaking to AS, he said: “It’s true that there were teams that wanted me but I thought about it well and the best thing was to stay.

“[Could an Atletico player say yes to Real Madrid?] I don’t know. If it’s the best thing for him, to go there, it could be that he has to go. It depends on each one.”

Conte: Despite The Pressure, We’re Still Top Of The League

Featured Image

Antonio Conte admits the heat is on and Chelsea are feeling the pressure, as the league draws closer to an end.

Chelsea are on their way to winning the premier league title, as they’re ahead of second placed Tottenham by seven points.

The Blues were leading by ten points, prior to their 2-1 loss against Crystal Palace, and Conte knows the season is not over yet.

“There is big pressure but it is normal when you are in a great club and you are very good,” Conte said.

“When you are lucky enough to fight for the title there is the pressure but not only for us, for a lot of teams. Do not forget, the other teams were candidates to win the title but instead we stay top of the table and we try to keep this position. If we were able keep this position it means we deserve this.

“This league was not finished before Saturday’s game and it is not finished now. There are nine games to play and we have to think step by step and at the end if we deserve to win the title I will be very happy. If someone else deserves to win the title it means they were better than us.”

Chelsea will be looking to return to winning ways against Manchester City on Wednesday, but Conte expects another difficult test.

“It is another game, I do not know if it is the perfect team for us,” he said.

“I know that Manchester City started the season to win the title and they are a really strong squad, but it is right to think about ourselves and to face it game by game.

“In England an easy game does not exist and the game is very tough if the name of your opposition team is City or another team.”

Crystal Palace Hoping To Sign Mamadou Sakho Permanently From Liverpool

Featured Image

Crystal Palace will attempt to sign Mamadou Sakho from Liverpoolon a permanent deal this summer, according to the Independent.

Sakho has made a massive impact at Selhurst Park since arriving on loan from Anfield in January as Palace have roared away from the relegation places.

However the Independent report that interest from Southampton and Italian clubs could push the asking price for the in-form central defender towards £25million.

Crystal Palace Manager Sam Allardyce said

“Securing our Premier League status is our priority, and then we’ll see what Mamadou’s aspirations are, to be with us or anywhere else.

“His future doesn’t look as if it is at Liverpool. He’s enjoying his football and his life here. He’s brought that resilience to the team by leading by example.

“He’s taking a commanding role in his performance and the information he’s giving out on the field. That has helped with our defensive resilience: one goal conceded in four games.”

Sakho has won all four of his games since joining the south Londonders
