Klitschko: AJ Needs Big Muscles For Confidence

Featured Image

Wladimir Klitschko says Anthony Joshua needs his big muscles to stay confident and doesn’t want any excuses when he beats him.

Klitschko will face Joshua in front of 90,000 fans at the Wembley stadium come April 29, with the IBF and WBA ‘super’ title on the line.

Joshua has not lost a fight in his professional career and the young boxer has 18 knockouts so far.

Klitschko said: “AJ has a lot of energy, he’s young, he wants to be explosive, he has these big muscles that bring him confidence and he just wants to demolish people right in front of him. That’s what it is, it gives him a lot of confidence, but did you hear about boxing being a sweet science?

“Every person would have got these big muscles. It gives you confidence and you really can smash if you hit the heavy bag, or the person in front of you. Boxing is sweet science. The vicious boxers were conquered.

“I have a lot of respect for Anthony and what he is doing, his commitment, his physical ability. He can box, he can lift weights, he can be strong, he can train.

“He can be a CrossFit champion actually, a CrossFit world champion. I think he has great capability of it. CrossFit became really popular and there are a lot of boxers doing it. But CrossFit is not boxing.”

“I don’t want to hear ‘oh it was too early for him,’ or ‘of course Klitschko cannot dominate, because he is over the hill,’ and all of this.

“AJ wants to become billionaire, as he said, which is a great ambition. But it’s a challenge with a lot of question marks.

“I look forward to it and I think it’s going to be a great event and I wish both of the fighters will make it injury free, so there is no toes, no other issues which could be in the way. I’m really looking forward to this challenge.”

Gorgeous Adunni Ade Speaks On Life As A Single Parent, Finding Love and More In Latest Issue Of Motherhood In-Style Magazine

Featured Image

Multi-talented actress, Adunni Ade and her handsome sons, 9-year-old D’Marion and 5-year-old Ayden, are the cover stars for the latest issue of Motherhood In-Style Magazine.

In this exclusive interview with MIM, Adunni puts away the entertainer we already love and let’s us see the person we hardly know.

Adunni Ade: The tenacious and hardworking mum

Adunni Ade: The tenacious and hardworking mum

She opens up on life as a single parent, how she disciplines, why she quit America’s Next Top Model and details of her personal challenges she has never shared before.

Read some excerpts from the interview:

Would you like to share why you are not with the father of your children?

“Well, I just had to make that decision though it took me a long time to realise or stop lying to myself that it was never going to work out even though I tried as much as I could. I just decided that what’s best for me is to walk away and still be here and be with my kids and still have the opportunity of being the best mother possible, so yeah, I had to make that decision. It was really tough, it was really painful; I think that hurt me the most out of anything that I have ever been through in my life, walking away was the hardest thing to do.”

Were you married and how long were you together?

“Well, we were never married. We were together for 8 years but in the state of Kentucky, it’s a common wealth state and common wealth state is if you live together for a long period of time you might as well be considered married but on paper, no, never been married before.”

Suffering from depression as a result of her troubled relationship, an emotional Adunni told us how fear of losing her life, leaving her kids and professional intervention helped to get her through.

She says, “I think the major thing that got me through was the fear that somebody else would raise my children if I sat in that relationship, that was the scariest thing for me, that my kids would see somebody else as their mother. Depression is no joke. A lot of people in this country, Nigeria, don’t want to admit that depression is an illness. People don’t know the extent to which it affects the mind.

“Not a lot of people know this; in the past I have tried to commit suicide because it was just too much, just too much for me but I guess God loves me enough to still keep me here.

Nigeria is idealistic in terms of marriage and how things should be, how have you coped, moving back to Nigeria to live in this society as a single mum?

“Well, even before I moved back I definitely didn’t like placing myself in that ‘single mother’ status. I’m a parent. Yes, it takes two to become a parent but hey, when it’s one, let that one do the best they can. Now, how I have been able to cope in Nigeria? The same way I was able to cope in the States, doing it all by myself. I am truly happy that I experienced certain things over there in the States. If I had experienced those things here in Nigeria, I probably would have just killed myself long time ago because this country is tough. But as tough as this country and its people are, I’m also a tough cookie and I never give up. If I set my mind to do something, regardless of what it is, I will get it done. The time for myself is gone, when you have kids it’s not about you anymore, it becomes about the other lives that you have brought into this world so my main focus, my main goal is about my children and they have been my drive and my motivation from day one.”

Tuchel Expecting Goal Laden Affair Against Monaco

Featured Image

Thomas Tuchel is expecting the goals to flow when Dortmund play Monaco in the quarterfinals of the UCL.

Monaco qualified for the quarter finals after playing a 6-6 aggregate against Manchester City, progressing on away goals.

Dortmund eliminated Benfica in the round of 16, winning 4-1 on aggregate and Tuchel is expecting the goals to come easy when they face next week.

“I don’t think you’ll find any team at this stage who don’t believe they can go all the way, but you’ve got to be realistic,” he told UEFA.com. “As unspectacular as it may sound, we can’t afford to have a single bad half; to get through, you need two top performances, and that means four top halves.

“I want everyone who comes to the stadium to enjoy watching us because we play attacking football and outscore our opponents. I think we are good at winning the ball back, good at playing at a high tempo, good at quick attacking interplay and we’re also a hard-working team. I’d also say we’ve got a strong team identity and spirit.

“Monaco are a bit like us: spectacular, attack-minded and strong, and their squad is a similar age to ours. They play at a very high tempo and, in addition to individual talent, they have a very strong team ethic. I think it’s safe to say we won’t have two 0-0 draws; both teams are too interested in scoring and pushing themselves to the limit.

“I’m very optimistic, but I always am. We feel well-prepared for every game and we are so strong and confident that we always believe we can win.

“Getting to the Champions League semi-finals would be amazing, but so is winning the derby against Schalke. Just being the coach and having people tell you you’re doing a good job at Dortmund is a dream come true.

“You have to take every challenge seriously. I don’t think: ‘Oh, on Saturday it’s the Bundesliga, but then on Tuesday it’s the Champions League, so we’ll take it easy and rest some players.’ You have to place the utmost significance on every game. That’s what it’s about now.”

Buhari’s Full Speech At The Unveiling Of Nigeria’s Economic Recovery And Growth Plan

Featured Image

We Are Committed To Resolving Nigeria’s Economic Challenges, By Muhammadu Buhari

As we all know, this Administration inherited numerous challenges. Our political campaign was based on a recognition of the difficult situation Nigeria was in and the need to bring positive and enduring change. And we remain committed to our electoral promise to change our way of doing things and to change Nigeria for good.

READ MORE: Buhari Unveils Nigeria’s Economic Recovery And Growth Plan

We are committed to delivering on the three key areas that we promised – improving security, tackling corruption and revitalising the economy. Security in the North-East, and other parts of Nigeria, is significantly better today than when we came in. With regards to our fight against corruption, as you all know, our law enforcement agencies are prosecuting very many cases of corruption. Our successes in these two areas are clear for all to see.

I want to assure all Nigerians that we are approaching the solution to our economic challenges with the same will and commitment we have demonstrated in the fight against corruption and in the fight against terrorism and militancy.

The Economic Recovery and Growth Plan brings together all our sectoral plans for agriculture and food security, energy and transport infrastructure, industrialisation and social investments together in a single document. It builds on the Strategic Implementation Plan and sets out an ambitious roadmap to return the economy to growth; and to achieve a seven percent growth rate by 2020.

Our aim, simply put, is to optimise local content and empower local businesses. We seek not just to take the Nigerian economy out of recession but to place it on a path of sustained, inclusive and diversified growth. We are determined to change Nigeria from an import dependent country to a producing nation. We must become a nation where we grow what we eat and consume what we produce. We must strive to have a strong naira and a productive economy.

The Plan I am launching today therefore sets out what we, as government, are committed to do to create the enabling environment for business to thrive. The Plan is a national one, hence the role of state governments is critical to its success. I therefore wish to appeal to the state governments to draw inspiration and strategic direction from the Plan to articulate their economic programmes, particularly in the development of the real sector.

I call on all Nigerians to work with us to ensure we achieve these objectives. The contents of the Plan are already familiar to a broad cross-section of Nigerians because it was developed in consultation with a wide group of stakeholders, including the National Assembly, state governments, the business community, labour unions, academia, civil society groups and development partners.

Finally, I wish to commend the Ministry of Budget and National Planning for successfully coordinating the Plan’s development. I also wish to salute the efforts of the Economic Management Team under the leadership of the vice president for overseeing the drafting of the Plan.

I am pleased to present this Economic Recovery and Growth Plan for use by the Nigerian people, our friends and partners and to guide our development efforts over the next four years.

Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) is president of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This address was given at the launch of Nigeria’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP, 2017 – 2020) at the Council Chambers, State House, Abuja today, Wednesday, April 5, 2017.

Schmelzer Criticises Aubameyang’s Mask Celebration

Featured Image

Borussia Dortmund captain Marcel Schmelzer says Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang celebrating his goal against Schalke with a Nike mask was a “stupid” thing to do.

The Gabon striker scored the opener against Schalke last weekend, but his celebration didn’t go down well with Dortmund’s kit sponsor, Puma.

Hans-Joachim Watzke also planned to give Aubameyang a firm talking to for his actions.

“We already thought he would come up with something for the derby,” Schmelzer told Sky.

“But what he did was stupid. None of the players knew that was coming.

“We have already had a word with him, the club will also have another chat with him and resolve the situation internally. Auba knows what the deal is.

“We know what he can do for us and he knows what we can do for him. The important thing is that we keep acting as a team. Auba is well aware of this and that is the most important thing.”

Nigeria Approves N54 Billion For Pensioners

Featured Image

The President Muhammadu Buhari led government has approved a total sum of N54 billion for members of the League of Federal Public Service Contributory Pension Retirees.

Buhari Unveils Nigeria’s Economic Recovery And Growth Plan

The Coordinator of the League, Mr Chike Ogbechi, confirmed this to Nigerian Tribune in Abuja, on Wednesday, March 5, 2017.

FG Commences Online Registration Of Unemployed Nigerians

According to Ogbechi, the approved fund was to clear the backlog of the accrued pension rights.

He was quoted to have said: “I got the information and it is true that the Ministry of Finance has approved N54 billion for us, and this will clear much of the backlog of our pension, but not all. So, the struggle still continues.”

Ogbechie, a one-time Director in the National Salaries and Wages Commission (NSWC), lauded the Nigerian government for the approval.

He said: “We know what the government is passing through during this economic recession, but we are still appealing to the Federal Government not to relent on its oars until we receive the full payment of the accrued pension.”

Recall, the pensioners recently staged a peaceful protest at the main entrance of the Ministry of Finance in Abuja for non-payment of over N150 billion accrued pension.

Eriksen To Chelsea: Spurs Still In Race For Title

Featured Image

Eriksen has told Chelsea not to consider ruling Tottenham out of the title race, as he insists they’re still very much in it.

Chelsea looked like they were going to win the the EPL without any trouble this season, but an unprecedented home loss to Crystal Palace reduced their lead to seven points.

That could reduce once again as Chelsea host Manchester City today and Tottenham play Swansea.

With nine games left, Eriksen knows Tottenham has their work cut out for them, but believes they’re still contenders.

“On paper we still have a chance,” The Denmark international told Sky Sports.

“But we know there is a lot in-between. Nine games to go, nine very exciting games to go.

“If you lose some you are out of it, if you win some you are right in it. So of course it will be very tight.

“I think we are taking one game at a time, and then we will see. In our world at the moment we are focused on getting closer to Chelsea. We still have a few games to go.”

‘If Nigeria Is Broken Into Components, Northern Region Will Be Poorest’ – Emir Sanusi

Featured Image

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has brought to the notice of the public that should ‘Nigeria be broken into smaller components today, the northern part of the country would be the poorest of the regions.’

The Emir, who was an erstwhile governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), made the disclosure in his key note address during the opening ceremony of Kaduna State’s investment and economic summit (KADINVEST), titled ‘Promoting Investment Amidst Economic Challenges’.

Sanusi also urged Muslims to imbibe and adopt western education and stop using religion and culture to set the region backward.

The outspoken Emir further said that it would be wrong to mirror living standard in the north in line with the oil rich Niger Delta, commercially viable Lagos and business oriented South-East.

He added: “Other Muslim nations have put forward girl education. Other Muslim countries have pushed on. We are fighting culture, we are fighting civilization. You tell me that you should not write love book in northern Nigerian.”

Sanusi also added that it is wrong to burn books of science based on religion.

“What is the crime of those books?” he asks.

Speaking further, he questioned the right of people in having more children in the region without having the resource to take care of them.

“Of what benefit is it to the north, having three million children roaming about?” he asks.

The Emir also flayed at Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara for saying that the meningitis outbreak in his state and others was God’s punishment for the sins of Nigerians.

The Emir said of Yari’s comment: “Don’t give these kinds of explanations.

“That is not an Islamically correct statement to make.

“If you don’t have vaccines, you don’t have vaccines; Go and get vaccines,” the emir said.

Messi: Olympic Gold Means More Than Barcelona Titles

Featured Image

Barcelona talisman, Lionel Messi says his Olympic gold is more dear to him than the titles he has won at Barcelona.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has won numerous titles with Barcelona, but has failed to repeat the feat with his national team.

He won the Olympic gold in 2008, but lost the world cup final in 2014 and also the Copa America in 2015 and 2016. He has been consistently criticised for his performance for Argentina, but he insists he doesn’t pay attention to it.

“The criticism I receive is not something I care about because I know about the things that happened,” he told Esquire.

“I understand the people who always want us to win and demand that we deliver a trophy.

“But those of us who play for the national team want to win a title too.

“The Olympic gold in 2008 is the win that I value the most because it is a tournament that you may only play in once in your life and involves many athletes from different disciplines.”

Courtois Wants To Win More Silverware

Featured Image

Thibaut Courtois is making his 100th appearance for Chelsea against Manchester City tonight and is looking to win more trophies at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian goalkeeper won the league cup and domestic league with Chelsea in his debut season and could win his second EPL this season.

He rejected talks linking him with joining Real Madrid and has stated he would love to sign a new Chelsea contract.

“I would have maybe expected to reach 100 games a bit earlier but obviously last season I missed almost three months, and around 20 matches, so I probably would have got there sooner without injury,” he told the official Chelsea website.

“But I’m really proud to reach that milestone for a great club like Chelsea and I hope to achieve many more. When I came back here the goal was to win trophies with a very competitive team, so to achieve that in my first season was fantastic.

“Obviously last season wasn’t a great one because I was injured and the team had some disappointing results.

“It wasn’t a nice experience but to fight back this season and be top of the league, as well as in the semi-final of the FA Cup, is really good. I’m happy with how my time here has gone and I hope to add more silverware in the future.”

Corruption Allegations: Court Clears Justice Ademola and Wife Of Wrongdoing

Featured Image

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has cleared Justice Adeniyi Ademola and his wife, Olabowale, of charges of corruption brought against it from the office of the Attorney General of the Federation.

The presiding Judge, Justice Jude Okeke, on Wednesday dismissed all 18 counts, including gratification charges against Ademola, his wife Olubowale, and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Joe Agi.

In his ruling on the no-case submissions filed by the three defendants, the trial judge held that the prosecution has failed to establish any prima facie case against the defendants and therefore “no justifiable reason to call on the defendants to enter their defence.”

“The matter is therefore resolved in favour of the defendants and all the defendants are hereby discharged”, Justice Okeke ruled.

The embattled Ademola was among the judges arrested last October in a late night raid by the State Security Service.

The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, had in 2016 filed the charges against the accused persons following the raid by the premier State Service operatives on the judge’s house on October 7, 2016.

He was eventually charged by the attorney general’s office for, among others, allegedly receiving bribes during the discharge of is duties.

Klitschko Rules Out Rematch Against Fury

Featured Image

Bernd Boente, Wladimir Klitschko’s manager has ruled out any possible rematch with Tyson Fury, should the Ukrainian beat Anthony Joshua.

Klitschko was denied a chance to avenge his defeat to Fury multiple times, and will be facing Anthony Joshua with the IBF and WBA ‘super’ title on the line.

The 41-year-old boxer was kept out of the ring for over a year, as planned fights with Fury were being postponed.

“Nobody of us ever wants to deal with this group of people again, especially including myself,” Boente exclusively told Sky Sports. “It was a lost year and don’t forget Wladimir is not 18 years old and starting as a pro.

“Nobody wants that anymore.”

“Wladimir would have loved – he showed that in different press conferences – to have that rematch because he knows he had a complete off night,” said Boente.

“He literally threw two, three punches per round and had he thrown as many punches as in the last round, he probably would have won the fight. But he didn’t and he definitely wanted to show to the public and especially to himself that he can beat this guy, and be a different Wladimir Klitschko in the rematch.

“That’s why he was totally keen to have that rematch, but the guy wasn’t available and now we have another opponent, a way better opponent, a more interesting fight.

“It’s at Wembley Stadium, it’s a huge audience, this is the fight of the year, it cannot be better.”

Buhari Unveils Nigeria’s Economic Recovery And Growth Plan

Featured Image

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday unveiled the document for the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP), which contains strategies to bail the country out of the current recession; encouraging growth and prosperity.

The unveiling took place shortly before the commencement of the meeting of Federal Executive Council, FEC, inside the Council Chamber, Aso Rock, Abuja today after about two years after he assumed office as new President of Nigeria.

The unveiling was attended by all cabinet members as well as top government functionaries including the national chairman of the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, John Odigie-Oyegun; Senate President Bukola Saraki; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; and chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari.

The plan which is the brainchild of the Ministry of Budget and National Planning contained 60 critical initiatives expected to help get Nigeria out of recession and reposition on the path of growth.

Some of the initiatives included stablizing macro-economic, energy infrastructure and driving industrialization.

Speaking at the brief ceremony that preceded the meeting of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, Buhari said that his government was determined to turn Nigeria from a consumer nation to a producing one.

“We are determined to change Nigeria from a consumer nation to a producing nation”, he said.

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Mr. Udo Udoma, in his welcome address said that the initiative was in line with the change agenda of the government to revive the ailing economy.

“This is therefore a fulfilment to re-invigorate the economy”, he said.

Quite a number of financial experts have expressed optimism that there would be increased liquidity in the capital market in the second quarter of this year if the plan is stepped up for quick implementation.

Tottenham Hotspur are planning on launching a double raid for Inter Milan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia and Jeison Murillo, according to Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato.

France international Kondogbia has regularly been linked with a move away from the San Siro over the past year while Murillo, a defender, was reportedly close to signing for Manchester City this summer.

Tutto Mercato Web report that Tottenham sent a scout to the San Siro to watch Inter Milan play sampdoria, with Inter midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia believed to be a player of interest to Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

Kondogbia, 24, was highly rated during his time with Sevilla and Monaco, but the French international midfielder has seen his development stall somewhat in Italy, following a 2015 move to Inter.

West Ham Interested In Signing Pablo Zabaleta Or Bacary Sagna From Manchester City

Featured Image

West Ham are interested in signing either Pablo Zabaleta or Bacary Sagna from Manchester City in the summer.

City’s defensive duo are out of contract at the end of the campaign and have yet to be offered fresh terms by the club.

According to reports West Ham are keen to sign a right-back before the start of next season and could make a move for either player if their contracts are not renewed by City.

Zabaleta, 32, joined City from Espanyol in 2008 and has gone on to become a hero at the Etihad.

Sagna signed for City from Arsenal in 2014 and helped them win the League Cup last season.

He’s battled with Zabaleta for a starting spot this season, making 25 outings in total.

West Ham remain also interested in St Etienne right-back Kevin Malcuit, despite having failed to secure a deal for the 25-year-old during the January transfer window.

Malcuit has two years remaining on his current contract and the Ligue 1 side are prepared to listen to offers for the Frenchman, who they signed for £500,000 from second division club Niort in August 2015.
