Wendy Williams Faints On Live TV | ‘Overheated’ In Halloween Costume (WATCH)

Featured Image

Wendy Williams on Tuesday morning fainted in the middle of her show – and it happened live on the air.

“The Wendy Williams Show” host was in the midst of the program’s annual “How You Doin’ Halloween Costume Contest” when she began to slur her words and sway back and forth, before falling to the floor.

In the video, the 53-year-old Wendy can be seen dressed up as the Statue of Liberty for her show, but her Halloween costume got the best of her about 48 minutes into the show.

“We do it every year. It’s always a lot of fun,” she began, as her words started to slur. “Let’s get started. Our first guest…” she said before pausing.

She appeared very uneasy and actually scared and then ultimately, fell onto the floor.

In the video, members of her staff can be seen running to her aid.

After a commercial break, she told the audience: “That was not a stunt. I overheated in my costume. I passed out.”

Williams’ spokesperson Ronn Torossian confirmed to newsmen that “she has been examined by medical professionals and finished the show in true Wendy spirit. She has never missed a day of work, and will continue all shows as planned. She will address this on-air tomorrow.”

Buhari Has Lost The Buharists

Buhari Has Lost The Buharists, By Bámidélé Adémólá-Olátéjú

The voices are loud and unmistakable. From the market stalls to social media, the lamentations of regret comes in angry sound bites. The faces of men and women on whose back Buhari rode to power tells the story of frustration and restlessness. An expanding number of Nigerians are alienated, angry and increasingly apathetic. Every where you turn, no single index favours the politician. Fifty percent of the Nigeran electorate is between age 18 and 35. This huge young demographic is disgusted, disillusioned and disenchanted with Nigeria’s politics and politicians. They are frustrated by years of neglect and a general lack of prospect and social mobility.

This piece was written by Bámidélé Adémólá-Olátéjú. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of

Many Buharists have grown wary and dismissive of the optimism that greeted Buhari’s nomination as the All Progressives Congress’ flag bearer and eventual election as Nigeria’s president. Instead, they have developed a healthy dose of cynicism and skepticism. Despite initial optimism, Buhari has become more of the same. He’s turned into another clannish vote scrounger whose idea of governance is based on loyalty, religion and ethnicity. Largely, the burgeoning youth demographic, whom he energised to get elected and in whom they invested their hopes and aspirations, remains unidentified, untargeted and unaddressed.

In a world where cable news giants like CNN and Al Jazeera control what we see, images of young world leaders like Justin Trudeau and Emmanuel Macron are constantly fed to young Nigerians, thus contributing to the pressure young people feel at taking charge of their destinies. It is not only the ageing politicians that put them off, but also the so-called youthful politicians like the gilded Yahaya Bello of Kogi, who lives in his own constructed cocoon of lavish indifference. While he splurges on luxuries, Kogi workers are starving, their children are dying because he refuses to pay salaries under the pretext of his never ending verification programme to weed out ghost workers.

Voters are lost in the incredible hopelessness that pervades the homeland. Their trust has been assaulted and they have been let down ever so often. The APC and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) remain two sides of the same coin. Between both parties are incurable kleptomaniacs, the political prostitutes who can be bought for cheap and made to switch parties, not for any ideological differences but for patronage. Our brand of democracy is not value-based. Idealism ended with our founding fathers before the civil war. Who we have representing and deciding for us are thieves, ethnic chauvinists, religious bigots and sponsors of terror who will steal, plunder and murder innocents as long as it furthers their political ambition.

It has become a cliché in corporate, political and development circles that the best resource a nation can have is its people. How come the Buhari administration, which we installed after driving out the profligate and prodigal Jonathan out, does not get it? When will they be done with stupidity? While education, health and infrastructure is begging for attention, a Sani Danlami representing Katsina Federal Constituency, used his constituency project funds to circumcise 130 boys, in an uncommon display of intellect and ingenuity! Before his circumcision jamboree, his governor, Aminu Masari of Katsina State purchased 3,000 Coffins with state funds. This crazier wazzock with a curious fascination with death, distributed the coffins to Mosques in his state, while his government owed workers months of acummulated salaries. He was the same guy who falsified his state’s needs to get more bailout funds. It is instructive that Katsina underperforms in all the indices defined in the Sustainable Development Goals.

Are these the people we want to rely on to solve the country’s problems like education, poverty and hunger? This waste of premium time on stupid things that have no effect on the peoples’ quality of life contributes largely to the indifference that the Nigerian feels towards politics. It is this lack of direction and purposefulness that fuels the dangerous attachment to personal success because there is no hope for collective good. Since politics and politicians are not contributing anything to public good, the struggle for the good of the individual is prime. After the individual, comes the public issues which could affect the individual. Issues like health, education, environment, infrastructure and so on. The country is despondent and in a hopeless state, in which the majority believes our problems are intractable. This no solution mode has created a platform for abdicating responsibility in all of us, from the home to the community and the nation at large.

Upon serious reflection, it is shameful and equally sad on our part that people like Professor Wole Soyinka who spoke for us 50 years ago are still the ones in the forefront, championing our fights. We have no revolutionary fire in our bellies. No desire to challenge the status quo and certainly not a fiery desire to change the system. But can we truly blame anyone? Can we blame a traumatised and dehumanised people for being self-centred and confused? The government, by its inaction, is fanning the embers of disillusionment. Thanks to our corrupt polity, the little gains of democracy are being squandered. It is all about coalition politics. What we have are feckless political buccaneers seeking power for its own sake, without any breathtaking ideal that could inspire. Politics is no longer a charming spectacle but having political experience without a political base.

Buhari has lost the plot and his supporters by squandering a great opportunity. The last two years were a waste. He may pick the pieces and attempt some realpolitik for the next one year. He can only do that if he rediscovers himself and listen to the angry voices on the street. He must rejig his cabinet and fire Abba Kyari if he is to take his presidency back. I wish him luck because he needs more than luck to get us back.

Full Text Of President Buhari’s Speech At The NEC Of APC

Featured Image

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in Abuja addressed the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on issues affecting the party and the country at large.

Here is a full text of the address below:

May I warmly welcome everybody to this important meeting of our party’s executive body.

Let me on a personal note thank you all for your prayers and good wishes, which the Almighty Allah answered in the restoration of my health.

I wish to thank you all Party leaders for helping to keep the government running smoothly during my prolonged absence.

I would like to start by commending our Party Leadership chaired by His Excellency, Chief John Oyegun. The Chairman and I worked harmoniously during 1984-85 in a previous government. Happily, circumstances have brought us again to positions of leadership in the country.

I want to thank Chief Oyegun and his staff for steering the party in the last two and a half years. Sometimes it is easier to manage failure than to manage success – and a big success such as that we have achieved.

I must also commend the leadership of the National Assembly led by Senate President His Excellency, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki and Rt. Hon. Speaker Mr. Yakubu Dogara. I must place on record the cooperation and understanding of the National Assembly including some non-APC members who rose above petty party interests and acted in the national interest.

My deep thanks also go to our State Governors who faced stiff challenges, especially their determination to maintain unity and tolerance among our communities. This is in the face of unnecessary politically motivated strife and violence. Credit should go to APC Governors for extending their hand of fellowship to their colleagues from other parties.

In my remarks to the Caucus meeting yesterday, I enumerated the progress that our government has made in the implementation of the programs of government and the Party Manifesto.

We can be proud of our achievements in the last two years, Boko Haram, Niger Delta, Regular Fuel, Improved Power, TSA, Agriculture and Fertilizer, above all, the knowledge that corruption will not be tolerated in this Government. We all know there is CHANGE.

Nigeria’s prestige has gone up, Nigeria is now credit –worthy, a clear testimony of which was the over-subscription of the Euro-Bond by 4 times.

Nevertheless, we are not resting on our achievements. I am quite aware of the challenges before us.

Last year I said we would re-constitute the Boards of Parastatals. I must regret the fact that we have not done so, for many reasons.

Some of us in this meeting may know I had given instructions since October 2015 for this exercise to start. But there have been inordinate delays through several Committees in an attempt to get the balance right and to make sure all parts of the country are equitably represented.

On the other hand I am keenly aware that our supporters are very eager for these appointments to be announced. By the Grace of God these appointments will be announced soon. Especially now that the economy is improving, we will have the resources to cater for the appointees.

By the same token the compressed Federal Executive Council will be expanded to bring in more supporters at Federal Level, with fresh ideas to be injected into the government.

Let me thank you all again for the commitment and dedicated service to our Party and to remind you that much more will be required of you in the coming months. I hope we can continue to depend on you.

If we keep united and rise above petty or personal quarrels we will surely achieve the desired CHANGE in the country.

I wish us happy deliberations.

Thank you.

Anny Robert x Flourish Africa Collaborate To Give Breast Cancer Survivor, Omolara Cookey A Day To Remember

Featured Image

As breast cancer awareness month draws to a close, we couldn’t help but address the disease which continues to lay a global burden and according to the World Health Organization, is the most common cancer among women worldwide, claiming the lives of hundreds of thousands of women each year and affecting countries at all levels of modernization.

This has made the need for awareness on early detection even direr now than ever. The invasive disease, which is practically incurable once spreading has occurred, can only really be prevented or snipped early with constant checks. Ergo, when a woman survives the disease, it is something worth celebrating.

breast cancer

Omolara Cookey is a breast cancer survivor who shared with us her journey. The Incredibly articulate wife and mother, spoke of her journey with so much poise but she highlights that there was nothing-gracious about-facing death. Not only had breast cancer threatened her life, she had just survived a different life threat, Myasthenia Gravis, an autoimmune disease which leads to varying degrees of skeletal weakness. She had undergone intense physiotherapy to be able to swallow and regain use of her muscle. Initially, she describes how her emotions took hold of her, ‘not again’ she had said. She mentions weeping and feeling sorry for herself until she ditched self-pity for receiving God’s grace to fight.

“I started constantly thinking about what I was thinking because it all starts with the mind. I held many trials with myself in my own head, if what I was thinking didn’t align with healing and wholeness, I was quick to dump it”.

breast cancer

Mrs Cookey found a lump in one side of her breast which the doctor after conducting a mammogram had said had benign characteristics. She recalls receiving a prompting from the Holy Spirit to do a biopsy just to ensure that it was in fact benign. However, she was in a place of fear, she couldn’t understand how having just recovered mobility due to the auto-immune disease after a period of over 3 years, God would allow cancer to take hold of her, there was no way that would happen, she had repeatedly told herself.

“I couldn’t believe that the God that I served would heal me from one life-threatening ailment and then give me another, but looking back now, that was training ground for what was to come”.

breast cancer

Due to her denial, Omolara chose to ignore this prompting until 5 years later, she started to feel some pain so she carried out a biopsy, the lump was indeed malignant and she was found to have breast cancer. She flew to South Africa a few days later for a mastectomy. She winces as she remembers the ordeal, which nearly cost her life, she mentions never to wait and carefully instructs that many times, mammograms are done improperly. She warns that women have an intuition and when they feel something is wrong, it is better to get a second opinion than wait till it’s too late. Cookey nicknamed by her friends, Omolara Miracle, recognizes how blessed she is because after a period of over 5 years, the cancer could have spread horribly. She recounts that she had taken out her ovaries which she credits for preventing the spread of the cancer as that strain of cancer was oestrogen sensitive. God at play.

During her time in Johannesburg, as she readied for her surgery, she chose joy; Both pre-surgery and post-surgery, she repeatedly chose joy. She also began painting again after a 25 year long hiatus, ‘painting was therapeutic’, she recounts.

“I painted my nails red signifying the blood of Jesus, played with my sister’s kids, my brother in-law treated me to a spa day and I prophesied the word of God over my life. There was no room for anything else, I entered into the lord’s rest”.

breast cancer

Omolara who notes that her healing journey was deeply instrumental in self awareness and discovering what things to take on board mentions how she spends her time dwelling on things of eternal value such as relationships and her relationship with God. She also now dedicates her time to painting a lot more, a hobby she had long let go of, it brought her so much joy during her ordeal that she decided to keep it on. She includes her paintings on scarves as in the photo above.

My experience deepened my resolve to foster my relationships and coming together more often with family and friends. Her advice to anyone going through a cancer prognosis…

“Fight with everything you’ve got, if you don’t have faith, get it”.

Mrs Cookey is one warrior princess whose battles she wears on her neck. It has been over 5 years since she survived breast cancer so for every year that goes past, she purchases a statement necklace, which she calls her victory necklace. It’s a reminder of what God brought her through.

breast cancer

Mrs Omolara Cookey is just the right dose of inspiration you’ll need for your week. She is the epitome of grace through struggle, a reminder that no matter what life throws at us, you have the fight in you to overcome it.

Neville: City Needs To Survive Winter

Featured Image

Gary Neville believes Manchester City will run into problems if they fail to improve on their mid-season performance of the last two seasons.

Guardiola’s side are off to a quick lead at the top of the table, with 28 points from 10 games and a five points lead.

However, the last two seasons has seen City start out strong and falter in the winter and Neville believes they can win the league if they better that.

“They are at an outstandingly high level,” he told Sky Sports .

“They can only stop themselves. I mention the words robustness and resilience.

“I look at the winter months and it seems like an old cliche – can you go away to Stoke and that sort of garbage – but there’s a little bit more to it than that.

“If you look at Manchester City’s last two seasons, one under Manuel Pellegrini and one under Guardiola, and you look at November, December and January. They probably would have won two titles in those two seasons if they’d have maintained their championship-winning level.

“If they drop to that level in November, December and January again then they’ll be in trouble. Those months are tough, the toughest months; I don’t care what anybody says [to the contrary].

“They’re the toughest months to play football – the games, the weather, the injuries, the stockpile of fixtures, the Champions League, the Christmas period.

“Can they get through to February, March and April when the weather gets better again and it’s an easier time of year to play football?

“My view is that has cost them in the last two seasons and if they can get through those three months then it could be one of the most outstanding performances. It is brilliant to watch, a great level of football.”

Jonathan Demands N1billion From Metuh To Appear As Witness In Fraud Trial

Featured Image

Nigeria’s immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan on Monday prayed that the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja set aside the subpoena it issued to compel him to testify as a witness in the ongoing trial of former National Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh.

In the alternative, Dr. Jonathan, in a motion he filed through his counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), sought an order directing Metuh to deposit with the court for and on his behalf the sum of N1billion to cover travelling expenses for himself and his security personnel from his home town, Otuoke, in Bayelsa State, to Abuja in line with provisions of Section 241(2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan Ordered To Appear In Court

The money, according to the former President, is also to cover the time that he might spend appearing before the court as President of Nigeria between 2010 and 2015.

In his ground of application Ozekhome submitted that the evidence sought to be obtained from the applicant will amount to an invasion of his personal right to privacy, and family life as provided for in Section 37 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999.

In addition, he submitted that the evidence sought to be obtained from the applicant is likely to expose the applicant to a criminal charge, penalty or forfeiture.

He further argued that the subpoena is vague and applied for and obtained of frivolous grounds and in bad faith as it was meant to embarrass the person of the applicant.

Metuh’s Trial: Jonathan, Dasuki Fail To Appear In Court

He argued that there is no nexus between the applicant and Metuh and the charge for which Metuh is standing trial.

The court had, on the strength of an application by Metuh, who is facing seven-count corruption charge alongside his firm, Destra Investment Limited, summoned both Jonathan and Dasuki to appear before it.

Metuh had, in defence of the charge against him, maintained that the former President and ex-NSA, were “very vital and crucial witnesses” in the matter.

Allegri Praises Juventus’ Winning Mentality

Featured Image

Massimiliano Allegri has praised Juventus, for their winning mentality, but believes they can still improve.

The Italian has criticised his side on occasion, especially after they lost their lead to draw against Atalanta and a loss to Lazio.

Juventus followed that with a 2-1 win against Sporting in the UCL and have followed it up with four wins.

“I’m really proud to be part of this team,” Allegri told a pre-match news conference, having overseen a Gonzalo Higuain-inspired 2-0 win over AC Milan at the weekend. “Juventus have a winning DNA.

“This game will be very difficult. Sporting are a very good squad and we need to get a positive result.

“It would be like a gift for us, for our fans and for everyone associated with the club [to reach the last 16].

“We know what a win here will give us, it gives us the possibility of going through on the night. But a draw would also keep us on the right path.”

Spalletti: Inter Can Still Improve

Featured Image

Luciano Spalletti has challenged his high flying Inter Milan side to get even better as the season goes on.

Inter Milan continued their unbeaten start to the Serie A, after a hard earned 2-1 win over Verona, means they have 9 wins from 11 matches.

The win confirmed Milan’s best points haul at this stage of the Serie A , but Spalletti believes they can be better.

“To be a record-breaking side doesn’t have a particular impact. We wrote a line in the history of Inter but now we’re looking forward,” Spalletti told Mediaset Premium.

“This tunnel will continue until June, and then we will see the light.

“The team played a great match [against Verona] in every respect, but every now and then we play slowly and we leave spaces when we do not have to. We deservedly won, though.

“If we had not won the match, and Roma had played their [postponed match in September] against Sampdoria and won, we would be out of the Champions League places.

“All teams are in there fighting, I’m thinking of teams like Milan who will come back and Lazio who have the quality to stay up there. Everything can change in one moment.”

Nigeria To Begin Tracking Of Crude Oil Production In 2019

Featured Image

The Federal Government on Monday said that plans are underway to deploy technology that would track and account for every molecule of crude oil produced in Nigeria by 2019.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, made this known in a podcast released in Abuja on Monday, October 30, 2017.

According to him, the federal government is working with the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) to create an IT platform to monitor crude production.

His words: “There is the issue of crude tracking – how do we track every molecule of products we have, crude and refined products?”

“We are putting together an IT platform that will enable us do this. We are working with DPR and hopefully, by 2019 the issues of whether we could not account for our crudes will no longer occur.”

“We are planning our marginal fields’ rounds and we are planning our inland basins rounds. It is going to be a transparent process to bring people to get us more oil. The rules are going to be out soon once they are approved by the President.”

“We were able to exit the joint venture cash call. Still a bit of things to be ironed out there, but for the first time, multinationals began to have belief in their need to invest in the country. The amount of investment requests we are seeing from joint venture cash call members is today in excess of $14bn-$15bn, which is for the purpose of projects like Zabazaba, Bonga extension programmes and all that.

“Multinationals are beginning to have confidence that this system is working. We delivered an open NNPC, a lot of work still needs to be done there.

“We are going to be rolling out our fiscal policies, which are now waiting FEC approval. Those fiscal policies will expand income in the short term over $2bn a year to the Federal Government; but on a long term, over $9bn.”

Kachikwu said the government would further deepen its engagement with citizens from the Niger Delta, adding, “Next week, I am going back there to talk to the governors of the region, the oil companies and to put a seed to some of the agreements we have made.”

Following the sack of the duo on Monday, there were calls that they be handed over to the anti-graft agencies.

Quite a number of Nigerians had lauded the president for the dismissal of both men but they however sought that Nigeria’s supreme leader order their arrest and prosecution.

However, a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed that “President Muhammadu Buhari’s position is that investigation agencies which have already commenced the investigation of the two officers removed from office will go on with their work of investigation without any interference or hindrance”.

“The President, who is fully conversant with the provisions of the constitution will not stop the investigation of anyone because he has no such power under our laws. This is a decision of the Supreme Court.”

“The President under our laws can, through the Attorney General, enter a nolle prosequi to stop an ongoing trial. He may, upon conviction, order a pardon.

“Beyond these, the President cannot order investigation agencies to not investigate anyone and does not intend to do in this, or any other circumstance.

“Based on his wish and desire for a strict observance of the law, the President expects the EFCC, ICPC and such agencies to proceed with ongoing investigations..

“When and where they have reasonable grounds to charge former or serving officers to court”

Neville: United Must Beat Chelsea

Featured Image

Phil Neville says Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho must work hard to win against Chelsea.

Manchester United are staking a title challenge this season and are second on the table, five points behind City.

Neville says Mourinho must break away from his traditional defense when playing away and take the game to Chelsea.

He told Sky Sports, having seen the Red Devils grind out a 0-0 draw at Liverpool in their last trip to a fellow title hopeful: “Manchester United’s trip to Chelsea on is a huge game for the Premier League title race.

“We saw what Manchester City did to Chelsea, beating them 1-0 and probably producing one of the best performances we’ve seen in three or four seasons.

“United have to win the game. I don’t think a draw is good enough but I think they are ready to win a game of this magnitude.

“Chelsea have the players to hurt you with Eden Hazard coming back to form. Will Jose look to man-mark him with Ander Herrera? Tactically I think it will be another game where he comes up with a plan to win the game.”

AfDB Cancels Proposed $400m Loan To Nigeria

Featured Image

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has canceled a loan to the sum of $400million to Nigeria that would have helped the country fund its budget.

The Vice-President for Power, Energy, Climate Change and Green Growth, AfDB, Amadou Hott, was quoted while speaking with Reuters on Monday as saying that the bank would instead redirect the money to specific projects in Nigeria rather than give to the country to fund its budget.

Hott said this during an interview with the prominent news outfit during a Nordic-African business conference in Oslo, Norway.

The AfDB had been in talks with Nigeria for around a year to release the second tranche of $400m of a $1bn loan to shore up its budget for 2017, as the government tried to reinvigorate the stagnant economy with heavy spending.

But Nigeria refused to meet the terms of international lenders, including the World Bank, to enact various reforms such as allowing the naira to float freely on the foreign exchange market.

Rather than loan Nigeria money to fund its budget, the AfDB is likely to take at least some of that money and “put it directly into projects,” Hott explained.

Because prices for oil, on which Nigeria’s government relies for about two-thirds of its revenues, have risen and the naira-dollar exchange rate has improved, the country is relying less than expected on external borrowing, Hott said.

In late 2016, the AfDB agreed to lend Nigeria a first tranche of $600 million out of $1 billion. But negotiations over economic reform later bogged down, blocking attempts to secure the second tranche of $400 million, sources told Reuters then.

Now, AfDB’s loans will be more targeted, Hott said.

“It’s hundreds of millions of dollars, just in one go, that we were supposed to provide in budget support, but we will move into real projects … “ he said.

I Warned Buhari About Maina’s Reinstatement – HoS Reveals In Leaked Memo

Featured Image

The Head of Service of the Federation (HoS), Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita, has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari is aware of the reinstatement of a former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Mallam Abdulrasheed Maina, into the civil service.

She further added that she warned the President against it.

Maina, who is being declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of fraud, was reinstated into the civil service under controversial circumstances and then posted to the ministry of interior.

However, in a memo, obtained by The Punch, Oyo-Ita said she cautioned the president, adding that her warning was based on the implications such reinstatement would have on the anti-corruption war of the Federal Government.

The memo, with reference number HSCSF/HCSF/LU/COR/FCSC/750/T, was dated October 23, 2017, and titled, “Re: Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina,” and was received in the office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Abba Kyari, on October 23.

Explaining further, the HoS said she met the President after the Federal Executive Council meeting of Wednesday, October 11, where she verbally warned Buhari against bringing Maina back to the service.

She, however, did not say what the response of the President was after briefing him.

Oyo-Ita said, “Please, note that the OHCSF was never in agreement with the reinstatement and consequently never conveyed the approval of the FCPC to Mr. A. A. Maina, nor approved his posting to the Ministry of Interior or any other MDA

“Rather, I sought audience with His Excellency, Mr. President on Wednesday, 11th October, 2017 after the FEC meeting where I briefed His Excellency verbally on the wide-ranging implications of the reinstatement of Mr. A. A. Maina, especially the damaging impact on the anti-corruption stance of this administration.”

The letter partly read, “Further to your letter Ref. SH/COS/100/A/1570 dated 23rd October, 2017 on the above subject matter, I write to inform you of the circumstances leading to the irregular recall of Mr. Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina.

“I wrote to place on record the following facts as it permits to Mr. A. A. Maina who was dismissed from service on 21st February, 2013.

“The move to recall Mr. A. A. Maina was at the instance of a series of letters from the Attorney General of the Federation to the Federal Civil Service Commission requesting the commission to give consequential effect to the judgement that voided the warrant of arrest issued against Mr. A. A. Maina which formed the basis for the query and his eventual dismissal.

“The letters herewith attached as Annexes I-III are:

(a)  Ref. HAGF/FFCSC/2017/VOL.1/1 dated 19th January 2017,

(b) Ref. HAGF/FFCSC/2017/VOL.1/ 2 dated 21st February 2017; and

(c)Ref. HAGF/FFCSC/2017/VOL.1/1 dated 27th April 2017.

“The FCSC thereafter requested that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation should advise the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior to consider the AGF’s letter and make appropriate recommendations to the commission and this was so communicated to the Ministry of Interior.

“The Ministry of Interior took the matter to the Senior Staff Committee of the ministry and recommended the reinstatement of Mr. A. A. Maina into the service as Deputy Director.

“The OHCSF forwarded the recommendation to the FCSC which has the constitutional responsibility for appointments, promotion and discipline for further action.

“The FCSC in consideration of the letter from the AGF and the recommendations of the SSC of the Ministry of Interior consequently approved and conveyed the reinstatement of Mr. A. A. Maina with effect from 21st February, 2013 vide letter herewith attached as Annex IV.

“(vi) The letter of reinstatement, as communicated to HCSF Ref. FC. 4029.82/Vol. III/179 dated  18th September, 2017 attached herewith as Annex IV, ostensibly also copied the Ministry of Interior which is the one erroneously used to document Mr. A. A. Maina on a claim that he has resumed work since 28th September, 2017. The Ministry of Interior informed the OHCSF of this development vide letter Ref. MI/1436/II/24 dated 16th October, 2017 from Ministry of Interior stating that Mr. A. A. Maina has resumed with effect from 28th September, 2017 is attached as Annex V.

“Please note that the OHCSF was never in agreement with the reinstatement and consequently never conveyed the approval of the FCSC to Mr. A. A. Maina nor approved his posting to the Ministry of Interior or any other MDA. Rather, I sought audience with His Excellency, Mr. President on Wednesday, 11th October, 2017 after the FEC meeting where I briefed His Excellency verbally on the wide-ranging implications of the reinstatement of Mr. A. A. Maina, especially the damaging impact on the anti-corruption stance of this administration.

“However, I have requested the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, to provide any documentary evidence to support the claim of reinstatement and posting of Mr. A. A. Maina by OHCSF, since after his dismissal.

“The letter to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior is attached as Annex VI. The foregoing is accordingly submitted for your information and further consideration.

“Please accept the assurances of my best regards.”

Alvaro Morata Insists He Is Very Happy At Chelsea

Featured Image

Alvaro Morata has attempted to clarify suggestions that he regrets leaving Juventus.

Alvaro Morata was quoted by an Italian publication as saying that he would never have chosen to depart from Juventus .

Morata won four trophies during a two-year spell with the Serie A giants before returning to Real Madrid.

“I want to say that we had a problem of understanding in this interview,” the London Evening Standard quotes the forward as saying. “If Chelsea proposed me 10 years I’d probably sign that too. I’m happy with this club, in this city, with everything in London.

“I really like London and, probably, if I make good and improve, probably I can stay here more than five years. But I need to score many goals otherwise Chelsea will buy another player. It’s normal. I want to say, probably in the future when I finish in my career, I won’t live in London. But now, at the moment, I’m very happy in London and enjoy living in London with my wife.

“Probably in the future, when I need to bring my child to the school and take up a school, when I finish my career, I’d prefer to come back to my country. It’s normal. For me, I prefer the place I was born. But now I’m very happy.

“When I say it’s a stressful city, I’m only talking about the traffic and that there are a lot of people. But it’s an incredible city with many religions and many kinds of different people, so I really enjoy London.”

Everton To Make Approach For Burnley Manager Sean Dyche

Featured Image

Everton are interested in Sean Dyche becoming their new manager and are likely to make an approach for the Burnley manager in the next 24 hours

Everton have lost both their games since they sacked Ronald Koeman last week and are in the bottom three in the Premier League with eight points from their first 10 games.

Sean Dyche’s Burnley side beat Newcastle 1-0 on Monday Night

When asked about the vacant managerial role at Goodison Park after his side’s 1-0 victory over Newcastle on Monday night Dyche remained tight-lipped on his future.

“I just keep getting on with my job, simple as that,” Dyche told Sky Sports, when asked what he would do if a call came in from Everton.

“We just keep getting on with it. That’s my focus and my team’s focus. We have to do planning of course, but generally we take each game as it comes, we work on that, then we process the information, debrief it and we move forward again and keep that clarity of thought. That’s how we keep going.”

Since joining Burnley in 2012, Dyche has experienced great success at Turf Moor, helping guide the club to two Premier League promotions.

Sam Allardyce Interested In Managing Everton

Featured Image

Sam Allardyce has confirmed he would consider the vacant Everton manager’s job, insisting he would take them “back to basics”.

“I’d have to consider that if that phone call happens,” Allardyce told BeIN Sports, when asked if he would take the Everton job if offered.

“There’s no point speculating at the moment. David Unsworth is in the chair, Joe [Royle] sat upstairs will have an opinion today [after the Leicester defeat] and from the Chelsea game.

“It’s really going to be tough for Everton to get out of that position. Not because the lads are not trying, but as a team collectively they can’t keep a clean sheet and can’t score a goal.

“Those are the two problems, if you resolve one, you’ll end up resolving the other and that will start with the clean sheet.”

Nigeria Agrees To Pay N88bn Compensation To Victims Of Biafra Civil War

Featured Image

The Federal Government on Monday agreed to pay a total of N88billion for the compensation of victims of the Nigeria/Biafra civil war, as well as for the reconstruction of areas destroyed by abandoned explosives within the South-East, South-South and North Central regions of the country.

The decision came after the ECOWAS community court of justice granted an out-of-court settlement application for a case involving the federal government and victims of the Nigerian civil war.

FG, in terms of agreement it endorsed before the ECOWAS Court in Abuja on Monday, said while it would pay N50billion compensation to “true victims” of the civil war that occured between 1967 and 1970, it said a total sum of N38billion will be paid to contractors for total and complete demining and destruction of abandoned bombs and landmines within the regions.

It is understood that the affected states are the five states in the South-East zone – Imo, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, and Enugu; four states in South-South – Akwa-Ibom, Rivers, Delta, Cross River; and one North Central state – Benue.

According to the agreement document which the ECOWAS court adopted as its consent judgment, two firms, RSB Holdings Nigeria Limited and Deminers Concept Nigeria Limited, were said to have been contracted in 2009 to carry out demining exercise in the war affected areas.

Part of the terms of the settlement stipulates that the federal government “undertakes to pay, without delay, compensation in the summer of N50 billion in full and final sum to the victims, their families and communities as contained in Schedule 4(1) to this terms of settlement”.

“That FG undetakes to the pay of a total sum of N38 billion as contained in schedule 4(2) to this terms of settlement for the purposes of carrying out total demining and destruction, rebuilding of public buildings, mine centre activities, construction of class rooms, provision of prosthetics and all other activities enumerated thereunder,” the court ruled.

“That the federal government undertakes to complete the demining and deconstruction of landmines and bombs in the Nigeria civil war affected states of south-east, south-south and part of the north-central of Nigeria covering eleven states as contained in schedule 1 to this terms of settlement.

“That the federal government undertakes to mobilise the 4th and 5th respondents back to work to complete the final phase of the ongoing removal and destruction of post-war lethal materials, the 4th and 5th respondents having satisfactorily carried out the first phase of the contract.”

What Tinubu Told Journalists After Meeting With Buhari

Featured Image

A National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Asiwaju Tinubu, has told journalists, on Monday, not to ask him questions on the current clamour for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election in 2019.

The former governor of Lagos state made this known during an interview with State House correspondents shortly after meeting behind closed doors with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

When asked whether he agree with different groups and individuals calling on Buhari to seek re-election in 2019, Tinubu simply said, “Don’t discuss that one with me.”

He however responded on other questions as he said his discussion with Buhari – which was pertaining the country and leadership – was fruitful and productive.

“I just met with the president. Our discussion was fruitful, productive and it was about the country and leadership as a whole. And that got him excited and happy,” he said.

“I have confidence in this president, there is no doubt about that. We worked hard to bring about the government, there are certain things that are unpredictable and those are things that can lean itself to gossips, insinuations and all of that.

“But once you create leadership and it is functioning, you don’t have to babysit that leadership unless there is a loss of confidence and I don’t have that.

“You know me. I’ve not known to shy away from talking my mind and rebelling if it is necessary and taking charge of things that I believe are necessary.”

Tinubu further described as “myth” the claims that he is not happy with the President because he has been sidelined by a cabal.

In his reaction to the report of a cabal in the presidency, Tinubu said:

“What is the myth in this leadership thing? What is cabal? It’s a myth.

“We are the party of the people for the people and by the people and this is a democratic environment. Each of us has our roles to play and that is why we are playing it.

“I don’t believe in the myth, I believe in confidence building, the trust that we have in the president. In the journey of democracy you are going to have twists and turns, you are going to have conflicts. Conflicts resolution mechanisms is inbuilt on how you handle your party and the governance and the party are joined by the hips.”
