Lagos Govt Orders LCC To Halt Proposed Toll-Gate Tariff Hike

Featured Image

The Lagos State government has directed the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) to halt the proposed tariff hike on Lekki-Epe Expressway and Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge.

In a statement issued on Friday by Steve Ayorinde, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, the state government said it had directed the company to put the decision “on hold” as the necessary consultations with stakeholders are yet to be concluded.

The statement read:

“The attention of Lagos State Government has been drawn to the announcement of a proposed tariff hike on Lekki-Epe Expressway and Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge by the Lekki Concession Company (LCC).”

“The Lagos State government hereby informs the general public that the said tariff hike has now been put on hold as the necessary consultations with stakeholders are yet to be concluded.”

“While government recognises the need for periodic review of tariffs and any other levies appertaining to road infrastructure maintenance in the state, the public and critical stakeholders as the ultimate beneficiaries of such facilities must always be carried along at all times.”

“Therefore, the proposed tarrif hike cannot be effected at this period in the interest of the public, while further consultations continue.”

The government’s decision to halt the proposed hike came at a time when thousands of Lagosians commenced a process of signing an online petition to protest the plan.

In the picture (above), the tariff, which was increased by between 20 and 90 per cent, had been billed to become effective on November 8.

However, the online petition, initiated by Ngozi Ihedigbo, said the LCC, the operator of the toll plazas, imposed the “increment on us with absolutely no explanations.”

“Nigeria is a country in recession, people have no jobs and the ones with jobs can hardly survive on their salaries,” the petition began.

“Yet all the government is doing is impose hardship on innocent people for their selfish gain. There is no reason why there should be an increase on the Lekki-Victoria Island toll and we need this action to be stopped.

“We can no longer sit and fold our arms and say ‘it’s business as usual.’ We pay taxes, even though we do not see any major improvements to quantity these payments. We are our own government as we provide our own water, light and in most cases our road. Yet all the government does is take, take and take from us.

“The Lekki-VI fare should actually be going down, rather there is a 70 per cent increase in toll fee starting November 8th 2017. Did anyone get a 70 per cent raise on salary? Did Nigeria inflation go up by 70 per cent? ”

It was gathered that as at 9 p.m. on Friday, more than 5,000 persons have signed the petition, less than 12 hours after it was uploaded on online portal, CitizenGO.

Buhari: Just Like the Mills of the Gods, By Femi Adesina

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

There is a saying bequeathed to mankind by the Greek physician/philosopher, Sextus Empiricus, who lived in Alexandria and Athens in the 3rd Century. It goes thus: “The mills of the gods grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly fine.”

What does this mean in everyday language? Justice may be slow, but it will come eventually. And for those who pray, it also means that God may not answer your petition immediately you make it, but He will eventually respond – at His own time. The vision is for an appointed time, and it will not delay. But if it tarries, wait for it. For it will surely come. The priest who shouts at God is being unnecessarily impatient and petulant. God will do what He will do -pat His own time.

From the human perspective, Empiricus may have had President Muhammadu Buhari in mind, when he coined the saying about the mills of the gods. With our president, there is no rush on some issues, if they demand temporising and being painstaking. The mills of the gods must be allowed to grind, if slowly, but exceedingly finely.

From his time as military leader, Nigerians who were of age then would recall that the then Major General Buhari often said, “this administration will not be rushed…” And truly, for the 20 months that the regime lasted, things were done with calm sure-footedness, and not at the dizzying speed that some people would have wanted. Easy does it. They stumble that run too fast. “Patience is the companion of wisdom,” according to Saint Augustine, the cleric.

And did the regime succeed? It did. It was on the road to forging a new Nigeria, where probity, accountability and discipline reign supreme, before a spanner was thrown in the works. Fifth columnists struck, and aborted our march to Canaan, a land flowing with milk and honey.
Buhari was in limbo for many years. But in 2015, majority of Nigerians remembered what he had brought on the table between January 1984 and August 1985. So, overwhelmingly, they voted for him. And today, he is president.

Yes, President Buhari has changed in many ways. He was an autocrat, now he is a democrat. Then, he adjudged you guilty, slammed you in Kirikiri prisons, and asked you to prove your innocence. Today, if he suspects that you are corrupt, he does nothing to you, till he can prove that you are guilty. That is the way of democracy.

But something fundamental has not changed in the man’s style. The mills of the gods still grind slowly. There are some decisions President Buhari will not take in a hurry. He will chew on the matter, digest it properly, and then come out with his position. There is no stampeding him, no setting of fire to his heels. The mills of the gods grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly finely.

On Monday, this week, the Engr Babachir David Lawal and Amb. Ayo Oke saga came to a denouement. The duo had been accused of some unsavoury acts, and sent on suspension in April, this year. A panel was constituted to look into the allegations against them, with a two-week time frame.
A day before the report of the panel was to be submitted, President Buhari had to travel abroad on the second leg of a medical vacation. He was away till August 19.

In this period, some impatient Nigerians were totally restive. They even besieged the acting president, Yemi Osinbajo, urging him to act on the report of the panel. They wanted to turn the man into jury and judge, discountenancing the fact that he had chaired the panel that conducted the probe.

When President Buhari mercifully returned on August 19, his plane had barely touched down, when the impatient people began to ask for the report of the Osinbajo panel. “The two most powerful warriors are patience and time,” wrote Leo Tolstoy. But such people would have none of it. They called for an immediate decision on the lingering saga.

On August 23, VP Osinbajo submitted the report, in six hefty volumes. Of course, there was an executive summary, as best practices would demand. And the noise continued from some quarters. We want action on the submitted report, and we want it NOW. They forget that “patience is not simply the ability to wait, it’s how we behave while we are waiting” (says the preacher, Joyce Meyer). And they also forget the mills of the gods, which grind slowly, but exceedingly finely.

They went forward to accuse the president of treating Nigerians with contempt. With scorn. Derision. Flippancy. Levity. They would rather justice had been miscarried, as long as the urge for blood was satiated. They would rather the president had played to the gallery, swinging the sword and decapitating everyone in sight, not minding whether they were innocent or guilty. Such people were like the mob in Julius Caesar, the work by William Shakespeare. They met Cinna the poet on the way, and accused him of being Cinna the conspirator, one of those who had murdered the emperor. Cinna explained that he was a poet, but they would not listen. They screamed: whether you are Cinna the poet, or Cinna the conspirator, Cinna is Cinna. You are a sinner, and must die. They killed him. And to justify the evil act, they rationalised that he was a poet that wrote bad verses. Good grief!

President Buhari took his time. If you know the man, he must have gone through the six bulky reports with a magnifying glass, a fine tooth-comb. Better that 100 criminals escape, than kill a single innocent man unjustly.

And finally, on Monday “come finally comes to become” (apologies to the late K.O Mbadiwe). The president communicated his decision to the country, which was acceptance of the recommendation to terminate the appointments of the two men who had been investigated. A large number of Nigerians were relieved that a closure was being put to the saga. But trust those who had murmured and grumbled. They refused to be pacified. They are the type that when you answer their niggling question successfully, they change the question again. They came with many other queries: should the matter have taken so long? Was the matter not to be swept under the carpet, if we had not raised hell? Why were the two men not summarily handed over to the security agencies for prosecution? But if the president had taken the last option, and had directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to pull in the two men, they would have said: Enhen, we always said it. He was tele guiding the EFCC from behind all these while. Now he has shown his hands. The hand of Jacob, and the voice of Esau.

Head or tail, you can never win with some Nigerians. If you don’t have your bath, they say you are a ruffian, and you stink. If you have your bath too frequently, they say you love the opposite sex too much. No wonder some people say public service is a thankless job. If only we would change our mindsets, and also change our conduct.

But some people forget. Early in the days of this administration, President Buhari had told them: “Some people call me ‘Baba Go Slow.’ I will be slow, but I will be steady.” Isn’t there eternal truth again in the saying that slow and steady wins the race?

There are some matters that require speed. They should be treated expeditiously. No doubt. There are some others in which you could sacrifice fairness and justice on the altar of speed. When you have such, it is better to err on the side of caution. It is better to lay all the cards on the table, consider all the sides of the coin. Such was the Babachir/Oke saga. They were men who had served the president faithfully, from what one could see. He dare not be precipitate in determining their destinies. Fair is fair, and foul is foul.

Talking again of the mills of the gods. The National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the party’s secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday. I was there. The atmosphere was friendly, almost convivial. At a point, someone moved a motion of confidence in the Buhari administration. The seconder, a former state governor, added to the motion, seeking an endorsement of the president as candidate for second term in 2019. As he raised the motion, I saw the president gesturing, with his two palms downwards. The gesture meant, please, cool down, not now. This is premature. And the national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, weighed in, accepting the motion of confidence, and deferring the one on automatic candidacy. Everyone was satisfied.

You can imagine my consternation the next day, when I saw the newspaper headlines. It was as if some of them were reporting a meeting held in outer space. They said a bid by governors to get automatic ticket for the president had failed. One newspaper exulted: “Govs’ bid to get automatic 2019 ticket for Buhari fails.’ Pure fiction. Concocted story. It never happened the way the newspaper had conjured. And it was the president himself who had dissuaded those who made the move, by his gesture. Hate news seems to have crept into the polity, and otherwise credible newspapers have eaten the forbidden apple.

Well, we were talking about the need for patience. Jean-Jacques Rousseau says “Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.” And Robert Schuller adds: “Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. The spring will come.” That is where I pitch my tent. Under President Buhari, for Nigeria, the storm will pass (and is, indeed, passing), and the spring will come. The mills of the gods grind slowly, but exceedingly finely.

I believe. What about you?

Soyinka To Visit Trump’s America — Less Than A Year After Tearing Green Card

Prominent Nigerian playwright and poet, Wole Soyinka, is expected to visit America, less than a year after he tore his green card following the emergence of President Donald Trump.

It is understood that he will be delivering the Richard D. Cohen Lectures at Harvard University Centre for African Studies from November 14 to November 16.

“I’ll go in as an alien, an alien from outer space. I love that designation,” Soyinka said in an interview with Financial Times of London published on Friday.

The venue for the three lectures is Thompson Room, Barker Center, 12, Quincy Street, Cambridge, MA. Richard Cohen lectures.

Before the emergence of Trump, Soyinka had spent much time in the US, where he taught at a number of universities and lived in California with his wife, Folake.

“My life has been involved with the diaspora on a very personal and visceral level,” he said of his interaction with prominent African-Americans.

However, Donald Trump’s election marked an end to his US sojourn. In what has become known among Nigerians as “Wolexit”, he cut up his Green Card.

“To have some redneck ride into power on the steed of racism was for me too much,” he added.

He had in a statement issued late last year detailed why he chose to drop the Green Card:

“I was in New York during the run-up to elections. I watched this face, its body language, listened to his uncouth, racist language, his imbecillic harangues, the insults to other peoples, other races, especially the Hispanics, Africans and Afro-Americans, even citing once – I was told – Nigeria as an instance of the burdensome occupation of global space. I watched and listened, disbelievingly, since this was America, supposedly now freed to a large extent – as we like to believe and have a right to expect – from its lamentable history of racism,” he had said.

Anthony Martial Insists He Can Add More Goals And Assists To His Game

Featured Image

Anthony Martial was linked with a summer move away from Old Trafford but the Frenchman has been telling MUTV he’s pretty content – even if he thinks he could have been more ruthless in front of goal.

“At the moment I’m happy, even if I could have done more, scored more goals and made more decisive passes.

“I think the difference is that last year I didn’t have a good season but, for now, things are going pretty well.

“I’m achieving my objectives and I hope to score a lot more by the end of the season.

“I must continue to keep up good performances for my club and if I’ve got the chance to start over there [for France], I will do the best I can.”

All four of Martial’s Premier League goals this season have been scored in games he started on the bench.

Celtic Set New British Unbeaten Record Of 63 Matches

Featured Image

Celtic have today set a new British football record by going 63 domestic matches unbeaten courtesy of their 4-0 win away to St Johnstone this afternoon

Celtic cruised to victory at McDiarmid Park as goals from Scott Sinclair, Moussa Dembele, Olivier Ntcham and an own goal from Steven Anderson lifted them four points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

The historic result sees the Bhoys surpass their own record of 62 matches unbeaten, set by Willie Maley’s side a century ago.

Celtic remained unbeaten from 1915 to 1917, but that 100-year-old record has now been eclipsed by the class of 2017, who have not lost in domestic competition since May 2016.

Brendan Rodgers is yet to taste defeat in Scotland as Celtic manager, steering the club to the domestic treble during his first season in charge last term.

Celtic’s remarkable run includes 56 wins and seven draws, spanning 541 days since their last defeat, which came at the hands of St Johnstone towards the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

Jose Mourinho Now My Rival – Alvaro Morata

Featured Image

Alvaro Morata has said that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is now his rival as The Blues and The Red Devils prepare to meet on Sunday

Alvaro Morata made his professional debut under Mourinho while at Real Madrid in 2010 and won the La Liga title twice in his four-year tenure in the Spanish capital.

The striker will meet up with Mourinho again when Chelsea face United this weekend after joining the Blues from Juventus in the summer.

“I have a good relationship with Jose [Mourinho],” Morata told reporters. “He was my first coach in professional football and he gave me the chance to be a professional. He made me the first contract.

“Sometimes we send messages but not speaking about football, asking if everything’s OK and some jokes.

“It’s good and I appreciate these things because he was my first coach but now he’s – not my enemy – my rival.”

Jose Mourinho Rejects Invitation From Manchester United Fans

Featured Image

Jose Mourinho has turned down an invitation from one of Manchester United’s leading supporters’ groups to meet fans and discuss his recent comments.

Jose Mourinho was critical of the fans’ treatment of striker Romelu Lukaku in the wake of his side’s 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, with the Belgian going through a mini-goal drought following a blistering start to life at the club.

The Portuguese boss then wrote in his programme notes ahead of the midweek Champions League fixture with Benfica: “I hope that you enjoy the game more than some of you did against Tottenham.”

The Manchester United Supporters’ Trust (MUST) responded by inviting Mourinho to discuss his concerns, but the former Chelsea manager has insisted that it would be impossible to do that.

“I cannot meet a quarter of the planet. I think a quarter of the planet is Manchester United red. I cannot meet them,” he told reporters.

Zanetti: Inter Are Targeting UCL Qualification

Featured Image

Javier Zanetti insists that Inter Milan’s target this season is securing UCL qualification, and says winning the Scudetto is unrealistic.

Inter Milan started the season on a bright note, winning nine and drawing two of their first 11 matches and sits two points behind leaders, Napoli.

The Nerrazzuri last won the Scudetto in 2010 and last played in the UCL in 2011-12 , and Zanetti is pleased with the progress at the club.

But Inter great Zanetti, who is now the club’s vice president, believes it is still a tall order to win the league this term.

“We are demonstrating great consistency,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

“With the Scudetto, there are sides that are better equipped, but thanks to Spalletti and the other guys there is great enthusiasm around the team now.

“Winning is always very difficult, but I think the most important thing for us is that we are proving to be protagonists.

“The objective is to qualify for the Champions League, because the Champions League is an important showcase and makes you grow as a club.

“This year we have started to lay the foundations for the future, which will allow us to be competitive again. That is the role this Inter should always have.

“It takes a team, but equally important for those who work outside the camp. Along with the fans, we must always be on the same wavelength to take Inter back where it belongs.”

Spain

After starring in Wednesday’s 3-1 Champions League win over Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has emerged as a Real Madrid transfer target.

The former MK Dons prospect was linked with a switch to the Bernabeu over the summer but fresh rumours have surfaced in the wake of the midweek encounter between the two clubs in which Alli scored.

Any deal for 21-year-old England international will, however, be complicated by dealing with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy who, even in the Spanish press, is recognised as a hard negotiator. (Marca)

Liverpool players past and present are the new faces in Julen Lopetegui’s Spain squad for friendlies against Costa Rica and Russia this month.

Current Reds defender Alberto Moreno has seen his improved form rewarded with a first call-up in three years, while ex-Liverpool midfielder Luis Alberto – now at Lazio – has been brought into La Roja’s squad for the first time. (AS)

Real Madrid players are to blame for their stuttering start to the season, but less so coach Zinedine Zidane, according to an online poll conducted by Marca.

Los Blancos are third in La Liga, eight points behind leaders and rivals Barcelona, and second in the Champions League group following Wednesday’s Wembley loss.

The majority of supporters blame the players, with striker Karim Benzema deemed the most responsible. (Marca)

Cristiano Ronaldo has ruled out the possibility of becoming a coach in future. Real’s leading all-time scorer, 32, is unsure what he will do when he quits but is confident he won’t make the transition to the bench.

He said: “It is difficult to say what I will do in the future, but one thing is clear to me: I like to live in the present. I know I will not be young forever, I do not see myself as a coach today.” (Marca)

Italy

Despite continued assurances over his job safety, the future of Milan head coach Vincenzo Montella remains under intense scrutiny. Reports in Italy suggest defeat at Sassuolo on Sunday evening could be enough for the 43-year-old to lose his job with former Rossoneri midfielder Gennaro Gattuso, now in charge of Milan’s primavera, likely to fill in if Montella is sacked. (Corriere dello Sport)

After spending big in the summer, Milan had set their expectation for the season as returning to the Champions League after four seasons out of the competition. However, with the Rossoneri stuttering in Serie A, technical director Marco Fassone has lowered the aim to retain their place in the Europa League instead. (Corriere della Sera)

Internazionale defender Milan Skriniar has ‘doubled in value’ at the San Siro following a €30million (£26.6million) switch from Sampdoria in the summer and the Nerazzurri will not let the 22-year-old, who is a Barcelona transfer target, leave the club on the cheap. The Slovakian had also been subject of Atletico Madrid transfer rumours. (Gazzetta dello Sport)

Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka has emerged as a Juventus transfer target. The 22-year-old is also on the wanted lists of Barcelona and Bayern Munich. He is out of contract next summer and foreign clubs would be able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with the German international as soon as January. (Tutto Sport)

Germany

Naby Keita’s troubles continue off the field after three red cards in quick succession on it. The Liverpool-bound RB Leipzig midfielder has been issued with a penalty order for falsification of documents – reportedly a driver’s licence from Guinea.

The 22-year-old will have to pay a six-figure penalty, which could match the €540,000 (£479,740) Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus was fined for driving without a licence previously. (Sport Bild)

Stuttgart striker Daniel Ginczek says he has no intention of joining Bayern Munich to play a back-up role to Robert Lewandowski. Die Roten are in the market for a striker to give the Pole a break but Ginczek is not interested. “When Bayern asks, I think, everyone twitches first. Nobody else can tell me anything else. For me it would be nothing,” he said. (Sport Bild)

France

Rennes have announced former Paris Saint-Germain deputy sports director Olivier Letang as the club’s new president. He replaced outgoing president Rene Ruello who resigned on Friday night following a 1-0 win over Bordeaux in Ligue 1. (L’Equipe)

Portugal

Juventus and Arsenal transfer target William Carvalho looks set to remain with Sporting Lisbon. The 25-year-old midfielder has consistently been linked with a move away but is due to start a second round of contract discussions shortly and is expected to become the best-paid player at the club. Nigerians Vent Displeasure To Buhari’s Announcement Of Ekwueme’s Medical Treatment Abroad

Featured Image

Scores of apparently cheesed off Nigerians have vented their displeasure to Friday’s announcement by President Muhammadu Buhari that he had approved a foreign medical treatment for a former vice-president, Alex Ekwueme.

It was gathered that the former vice president, who turned 85 in October, collapsed in his Enugu residence in the early hours of Sunday morning.

On Monday, his family issued a statement saying that the health of the elder statesman was stable.

However, according to a statement signed on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President gave the order after he received a brief on the medical condition of the former Vice President.

Shehu explained that the approval given by Buhari would cover the cost of chartering an air ambulance for the journey and the cost of his treatment.

The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate medical treatment of former Vice-President, Dr Alex Ekwueme, outside the country.

“The approval followed a brief the President received Friday on the medical condition of the former Vice-President.

“The approval covers the immediate charter of an Air Ambulance for the emergency movement and the cost of treatment.

“President Buhari prays that God will grant the elder statesman speedy recovery.”

While a segment of Nigerians on social media lauded Buhari for the move, others saw it as having a political undertone and another reminder about the country’s lack of adequate medical services.

Nigerian Participants Wail As MMM Announces “RESTART” Of System

Featured Image

There are strong indications that the popular yet controversial ponzi scheme MMM has officially announced a “RESTART” of the system, leaving many Nigerian participants wailing with thousands and millions on Naira trapped in the scheme.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quoted a message posted on the home page of participants on Saturday morning as saying that the scheme has struggled to stay afloat after going on a break in December 2016 but had been forced to do a system restart.

Read details as published by NAN below:

Many of the participants who commented in various MMM Whatsapp groups recounted sadly how they and family members had lost millions to the scheme.

MMM is a ponzi scheme which gained popularity in Nigeria in 2016. It promised to pay participants 30 per cent return on investment every 30 days.

Despite various warnings by the Federal Government and its financial regulators, many Nigerians adamantly went on to participate in MMM.

Recall that in 2016, the Federal Government, through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) warned Nigerians against putting their money in the scheme.

In December 2016, the scheme went on “Pause Mode”, freezing the funds of participants and allegedly bolted with N18 billion but promised to resume payments by January 2017.

MMM kept its promise by resuming in January but it had new rules: 2016 money was to be paid back in percentages of new money “invested”.

This also did not stand the test of time and by July 2017, the scheme went on a semi pause mode when it could not pay withdrawal requests.

While those who lost their money in June/July continued to wait and lament, the ponzi scheme, in a frantic effort to stay afloat, commenced payment of those who “invested” their money in August, promising to backdate the payment to cover those whose money were still pending from June and July.

It even introduced 100 per cent return on investment to encourage more Nigerians to participate in August.

Apparently unable to meet its promises to pay back June/July pledges and faced with more challenges, the ponzi scheme on Saturday announced that it was going on restart, blaming the Nigerian government and the media for its woes which started in 2016.

Read the full text of the message:

RESTART

Unfortunately, we were unable to overcome the consequences of the crisis triggered by the authorities and mass media incautious actions at the beginning of this year. Despite all our efforts. The problems have been accumulating and, as a result, we have to announce a restart.

So, there is a restart:

All old Mavros (acquired before this announcement is posted) are frozen. We will gradually buy them back as the System develops.

All transactions with new Mavros (acquired after this announcement is posted) will be carried out on the usual terms with no restrictions.

Some amendments have been made to the rules:

Mavros will now start growing at the moment the request is confirmed (not at the moment it is created, as it was previously).

Consequently, bonuses will start growing at the moment when the main contribution is confirmed (upon which bonuses have been rewarded on).

Mavro-50% for the first contribution will not be available.

We launch three-month contributions of two types: 40% and 50% (see more details in WHAT IS MMM).

We’re confident that this measure (especially paragraphs 1 and 2) will significantly reduce the load on the System while also significantly improving its stability.

As a matter of fact, a restart is not the end of the world, it’s just a restart of the System and nothing more. Continue to provide help and you’ll get it all back (even if you’ve lost something now). It all starts from the beginning. It’s the most opportune time for participating.

We would also like to remind you (just for form’s sake) that everyone had been fully aware of all the risks and had read the WARNING which they had also confirmed by checking the relevant box in the process of registration.

Hoping for your understanding,

MMM Administration

Some of the participants of the scheme expressed regrets for ever joining MMM.

One of the participants (names with held) said that if he had known he would have used his money fro something better rather than investing on the scheme.

“This MMM people are very useless, they just came to dupe us,” he said.

On the promise by the scheme to buy back the debts it owed Nigerians when it restarts, he said: “Restart? who are they restarting with? Nobody will join MMM in Nigeria again”.

“MMM is gone and gone for good,” he said.

Everything You Said About Tithe is 10000% Rubbish – Singer, Waconzy Hits At Daddy Freeze

Featured Image
Port Harcourt born singer, Obinna Kelvin Anyanwu, also known as Waconzy, took to his Instagram page earlier today to slam popular Lagos OAP, Daddy Freeze’s who has been in constant teachings on not paying of tithes to pastors in the church.
According to Waconzy, all the preachings of the controversial Cool FM OAP is absolute rubbish as tithe belong to God and not the pastors.

He shared a photo with Freeze and captioned it thus;

“@daddyfreeze with dues respect as my elder, i laughed so hard after wating you talk about tithes cos everything u said about tithe is 10000% RUBBISH!

Yes we are in the last days and fake prophets and pastors everywhere (not only in Nigeria, what of ghana, Benin republic , usa and other parts of the world?

But it doesn’t change the word of God !

People don’t pay their tithe to the pastor, they pay it to God and whatever the pastor does with it is their business.its not our duty to judge but to do what what has instructed through the bible.

How do you expect churches to sponsor crusades, build churches, reach more souls and more if not for tithes & offerings. The same church.

Do u think anybody will go to church if their pastor is poor ? Real men of God are not blessed with our tithes or offerings, as a matter of fact, some pastors single handedly sponsor their ministries for years before they start getting members.

10% for God is not too much. Your tithe is your financial covenant with God and it works 10000000000% . As a matter of fact, @timayatimaya secret of sucess is tithing .

U can Ask him .

Here in America, if you don’t pay your tax, which is about 25% , you going straight to jail plus they use private jets too (why are u not complaining about them?

Your tithe is your kingdom tax and if you don’t pay it, you are going straight to financial jail. Your tithe is different from your salvation.

Salvation is in the heart and good works, while your tithe is for financial progress/openings.

It shows God (not your pastor) that you put him first and he will not allow evil to touch your flow of financial blessings.

About fake pastors, guys remember that you don’t have to worship your pastor because he is mortal like you. The only difference with your pastor and you is that he is more disciplined in keeping God’s words therefore there will be signs and wonders when he calls on God.

How will you know fake pastors? You will just know, your spirit will tell you. They can’t fake it for too long.

Brothers and sister please pay your tithe to a living church and watch God bless you.”

However, the self-acclaimed King of the South, rapper Yung6ix has decided to intervene and share his own views on the “tithing debate”.

The rapper believes that wise men do not have to be forced to pay tithe. He justified his assertion by saying, life is all about faith.

Here are his tweets;

You would recall that this issue of tithing was sparked up by the controversial Cool FM OAP, Daddy Freeze who seems to be anti-tithe in his preachings.

Mourinho: I Should Cry About Pogba Every Week

Featured Image

José Mourinho says he should complain about injuries every week to get sympathy and cry over it.

The Portuguese is in a war of words with Antonio Conte and it continues ahead of their match on Sunday.

Mourinho will go to Stamford Bridge on Sunday without Pogba, Carrick and Fellaini among others.

Claiming United have not received the credit they deserve for coping with a mounting injury list, he said: “It’s my fault because I should cry every week about our injuries and remind everybody, day after day or press conference after press conference.

“So it’s my fault. It’s my decision. It’s my way of dealing with problems. It’s my way of trying to motivate and respect and give confidence to the players that are going to replace those people. But maybe I have to reconsider my profile. I know that I moan about a lot of things but I don’t with injuries and probably I should.

“I think any other manager would be speaking about Pogba every day. ‘Oh, I don’t have Pogba. Oh, when will I have Pogba? Oh, 10 matches without Pogba. Oh, all the Champions League group phase without Pogba. Oh, all the big matches, against Liverpool, against Chelsea, against Spurs without Pogba. Oh.’ I don’t speak about Pogba one single time. It’s only when you ask me about his situation.

“And it’s not just Pogba. It’s Pogba, it’s Fellaini, it’s Carrick, it’s Ibra [Zlatan Ibrahimovic], it’s Marcos Rojo. It’s a big group of players. So I think we are doing very, very well.”

Valverde: EPL Clubs Are Stronger Than La Liga Clubs In Europe

Featured Image

Ernesto Valverde believes it is about time for clubs in the Premier League to increase in strength and says they are stronger than La Liga teams in the UCL.

Spain clubs have dominated the Champions League for the past years, with Barcelona and Madrid winning the competition for the last four years.

Sevilla has also dominated the Europa League, but Chelsea, City, United, Liverpool and Tottenham, who recently beat Madrid are flying high in the UCL.

And when asked if he thinks English teams have made themselves a force again, Valverde was unequivocal in his response.

“Certainly I do, yes,” the Spanish coach told reporters on Friday. “The English teams haven’t been able to dominate that much recently.

“I was going to say in Europa League too, but United won last year.

“English clubs will always be there or thereabouts. They have lots of money, great players and history in football.

“I don’t think we need to interpret that as Spain’s team are weaker. Last year Spanish teams were stronger, this season they [English clubs] are.

“It’s probably been the most illogical thing that English clubs have struggled in recent years.”
