I Have A Point To Prove – David Moyes

Featured Image

Newly appointed West Ham manager David Moyes has insisted that he has a “point to prove” at his new club following a string of recent failed managerial stints.

David Moyes has been out of work since May, when stepping down as Sunderland boss after a disappointing one-season spell that ended in relegation to the Championship.

Moyes also lasted less than a full year in charge of Manchester United and Real Sociedad

“It is good for West Ham, they are getting a good manager,” he told reporters at his first press conference as manager on Wednesday afternoon. “I do have a point to prove. Sometimes you have to repair things and I have a little bit to repair.

“It’s good for me, I’m back in and it’s what I love doing. I want to do well and want the team to do well. My ambition is short term. I have to win the games. I want the football to be entertaining. But I want to start defensively. We have to start there and get some clean sheets.

“First it’s about winning football games, then it’s about the style. There’s a really strong squad of players here. They certainly shouldn’t be in the position they are in.”

Mauricio Pochettino Confirms Harry Kane Will Be Fit For Clash Against Arsenal

Featured Image

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Harry Kane will be fit for the North London derby against Arsenal on November 18.

Harry Kane , who has scored 13 goals in 14 appearances in all competitions, was recently hampered by a hamstring problem, which kept him out of the team’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.

The 24-year-old has also withdrawn from the England squad after getting a kick to his knee in last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

With the first North London derby of the season scheduled to be held at the Emirates in 10 days’ time, concerns have risen over Kane’s fitness, but Pochettino has confirmed that his star striker will be there.

“Don’t worry, he will be available for the next game,” the Argentine told reporters during a media conference.

Harry Kane has scored in Spurs’ last four meetings with Arsenal.

Lewandowski Offers Backing To Aubameyang

Featured Image

Robert Lewandowski has offered his backing to struggling Borussia Dortmund forward, Pierre-emerick Aubameyang and expects him to overcome his goal drought.

Aubameyang racked up 10 goals in 11 matches, but has been unable to score in five matches in all competitions.

Lewandowski overtook the Gabon international after scoring in the match against Dortmund and gave an opinion to the forward.

“Everybody goes through these phases and the scorer’s job is the hardest one on the pitch anyway,” Lewandowski told Bild.

“When you are on a good run, you score everything, but woe betides when it doesn’t work and you hit the crossbar instead of the net.

“Then a lot of things go through your head.

“It’s important to clear your head quickly and regain the old looseness, then I’m sure he’ll be successful again.”

Patrick Schick Lashes Out At Juventus After Failed Move

Featured Image

Roma centre-forward Patrick Schick admits he harbours ambitions of playing for either Manchester United, Real Madrid or Barcelona in the future.

Patrick Schick signed for Roma in the summer, but, in an interview with Reporter Magazin, concedes he wants to play for a more elite club.

“Money? I take it as motivation, and I hope that in a few years I can move to an even bigger club where logically I’ll be paid even more—that motivation has always helped me a lot,” he said.

“It’s not really possible to move much higher (than Roma) but there are a few clubs…let’s say Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United.”

Schick is still smarting at the way Juventus initially blocked a proposed move to Turin after they found a heart condition, a problem the striker insisted was temporary.

So when Juve asked him to go back for a second medical he refused, and decided to join Roma instead.

He added: “The season ended and I could choose, the offers I liked most came from Rome, Milan and Turin.

“Finally I decided on Juventus, not least because I was called by Pavel Nedved and it all sounded so exciting.

“I was looking forward to it, and frankly in June I felt like a Juventus player, but I wasn’t…

“I knew it was nothing serious, just some inflammation that would pass soon. I was fine, and I knew there was enough time to rest and everything would be normal, but Juventus delayed my transfer.

“When I came back from my holiday, my agent said we had to go to Turin for another medical.

“I told him I wasn’t going anywhere, that it was already getting on my nerves and I’m not flying to Turin, it would be useless.

“It didn’t matter to me anymore, I was a little bit angry. The deliberations were unnecessary, and in the middle of July my £22million release clause ceased to apply.

Dier: Tottenham Still In Title Race

Featured Image

Eric Dier, Tottenham midfielder, is confident of Tottenham’s chances of winning the EPL, despite the early lead Manchester City has taken.

Tottenham are third on the table and eight points behind City, winning their last match against Crystal Palace, fresh off a win against Madrid.

Dier believes their current form is testament to good and better things to come from the club.

“I believe what we are doing is right, that has been the case for a long time,” he said.

“Win, lose, or draw against Real Madrid, that would have been the same. Winning that game has obviously given us confidence as individuals and as a group.

“You’ve got to keep trying to improve and push the boundaries. That’s the same for club and country; you’ve got to keep trying to improve. That’s the key.”

“The games we have had in the last month have been really good and the results have been very positive,” he said.

“Obviously, Manchester City have been fantastic recently but there is so much football to be played before the end. I’m sure there are going to be a lot of twists and turns before the end.”

Okorocha To Unveil Johnson-Sirleaf’s Statue On Thursday, Despite “Zuma’s Outrage”

In spite of the national outrage that greeted the unveiling of a multi-million naira statue of President Jacob Zuma of South Africa, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State is set to unveil the statue of another African president.

It was gathered that Okorocha’s latest statue, a monument of President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of Liberia, is scheduled to be unveiled on November 9.

The statue and two others, including that of Zuma are occupying a pride of place at Freedom Square on Wetheral Road in the Imo Capital.

Zuma’s 30-feet statue was said to have cost a whopping N520 million.

Okorocha displayed Johnson-Sirleaf statue on his twitter handle: @GovernorRochas, saying that the Liberian leader would be honoured during her visit to Imo on Nov. 9.

“The Liberia President, Mrs Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf is set to arrive our dear Imo State for a two-day working visit on Thursday, 9 Nov. 2017,” Okorocha said in a tweet.

Governor Okorocha had on October 15, unveiled Zuma’s gold-cast monument, drawing intense criticism from critics nationwide.

The critics accused the governor of spending huge money on `meaningless projects in a state that had not been able to pay workers and pensioners as and when due’.

They also wondered what Zuma has done for Imo State or Nigeria to merit such honour.

Some even noted that despite the role the country played to bring the apartheid regime in South Africa to an end, Nigerians were being killed in the country on a regular basis and Zuma had done nothing to check that.

Nigerian Army Denies Forcing 486 Boko Haram Suspects To Drink Urine

Featured Image

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday denied forcing the 486 Boko Haram suspects arrested on their way from Jigawa to Port Harcourt on June 15, 2014, in 33 buses to drink urine.

Army witness, Maj. Chudi Aniukwu, stated this on Wednesday in Abuja, when he testified before the Presidential Investigation Panel on Human Right Violation.

Aniukwu, who was cross-examined by Mr Abdullahi Achara, counsel to the petitioners, debunked the allegation.

Aniukwu, also a Controller of the Nigerian Army Operation Centre, North East, said none of the arrested suspect was forced to drink urine as reported in the media.

He said that the 486 suspects ate the same food with the soldiers, adding that the suspects were kept for seven days for proper profiling by the DSS.

Aniukwu said that out of the 486 suspects, only one person was identified by the DSS as a Boko Haram suspect, adding that nothing was found on the remaining suspects.

Aniukwu said he got a call at 3 am on June 15, 2014, that the Army in Port Harcourt had intercepted Boko Haram suspects, crossing over to other parts of Nigeria, especially the Niger Delta.

“We placed all our checkpoints on maximum alert, and I got a call that they have intercepted 33 buses, carrying only men who had nothing on them.

“We moved all of them to Abia headquarters of the Army base, and we informed the highest authority in the Army and the DSS.’’

He said after serious scrutiny and proper profiling by the DSS, only one person was found to be a member of Boko Haram.

The Army witness said what aroused suspicion was that such a huge number of movement of people had not been witnessed on a single day, and considering the volatile security situation in the country at the time

He, however, said that the Abia Government provided the needed support for the suspects while in Army custody, adding that all of them were well fed

He said after the investigation by the DSS, the driver of each vehicle was given N22,000 to enable them returned to their destinations.

Mr Suleiman Adamu, a driver of one of the vehicles, who testified, said the passengers were going to Port Harcourt for greener pastures.

Prof Akinseye George, (SAN) counsel to the Military, who cross-examined Adamu, said that 17 passengers were on his own bus.

He said that he knew some of the people in the other buses, especially the driver, stating that not all of the passengers were known to him.

According to him, “I am a driver and I used to convey passengers to Port Harcourt, I have been driving the same route for 15 years.’’

He said that as a driver and passengers, they were all looking for greener pasture, stressing that he was held in the Army custody for 12 days, contrary to Army’s claim of seven days.

Chairman of the Panel, Justice Biobele George, discharged the witness after his testimony.

He said that their complaints would be looked into and recommendations submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari for necessary action.

Spain

Atletico Madrid may be willing to sell Manchester United and Barcelona target Antoine Griezmann. The Spanish side have reportedly grown frustrated with the 26-year-old’s current form, which has yielded just two goals in La Liga this season.

Griezmann was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer but stayed at Atleti, who would not have been able to source a replacement due to their transfer ban. The France international’s release clause will be reduced from €200m (£176m) to €100m (£88.2m) for a brief period this summer. (AS)

Barcelona have made Ajax centre-back Matthijs de Ligt their number one transfer target. The 18-year-old has been identified as Barca’s ideal defensive target, but will wait until the summer before making their move. (Mundo Deportivo)

Brazilian side Flamengo have told Real Madrid and Barcelona it will take a bid of at least €30m (£26.4m) to sign teenage sensation Lincoln. The 16-year-old caught the eye at the U17 World Cup, scoring three goals for Brazil and, although he has limited experience at senior level, he is tipped to become one of his country’s future stars. Seventeen-year-old Flamengo forward Vinicius Junior is already Madrid-bound next summer and his team-mate looks set to trigger a transfer tug-of-war between the El Clasico rivals. (Marca)

Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has emerged as a target for Arsenal and Liverpool as the European champions prepare bids for Manchester United stopper David de Gea and Chelsea ‘keeper Thibaut Courtois in the summer. (Diario Gol)

Barcelona will allow Arsenal target Arda Turan to leave the club in January. (Sport)

France

A new documentary has revealed that Barcelona were ‘hours’ away from signing Kylian Mbappe. The former Monaco star was poised to make the switch to Catalonia in a swap deal that involved Turan going the other way, but Paris Saint-Germain swooped to secure the 18-year-old’s signature as his plane to take him to Barcelona was left waiting on the runway. (L’Equipe)

In another botched transfer, Barcelona’s move for PSG playmaker Angel Di Maria fell apart on transfer deadline day after failing to meet the €80m (£70m) asking price. The French side were keen to sell the Argentine to keep within UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations after breaking the bank to bring in Neymar. (RMC)

Germany

Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has endorsed the club signing a young, up-and-coming coach as his successor. The 72-year-old has instantly transformed the Bavarian club’s fortunes after taking over from Carlo Ancelotti until the end of the season. There is no prospect of Heynckes remaining beyond then but he has given his blessing for the club to pursue one of the Bundesliga’s managerial prospects, with Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann and former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel heavily linked. (Sport Bild)

Italy

Inter Milan beat the likes of Juventus, Real Madrid and Monaco to the signing of Facundo Colidio in the summer. The teenage forward signed a three-year contract at the San Siro after impressing at Boca Juniors, and it looks as though Inter fought off competition from several European rivals to sign one of Argentina’s brightest prospects. (Gazzetta dello Sport)

Napoli are lining up a surprise swoop for veteran striker Fabio Quagliarella. The 34-year-old has been in excellent form this season for Sampdoria, scoring seven goals and notching three assists in 12 appearances. And his purple patch has not gone unnoticed in Naples, who view him as the ideal back-up for first-choice forward Dries Mertens while Arkadiusz Milik recovers from long-term injury. (Il Mattino)

Liverpool and Juventus target Stefan De Vrij will be allowed to leave Lazio for €25m (£22m). Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini revealed that Lazio will aim to tie the Netherlands international down to a new deal which would see him become one of the highest-paid players in the team, but interest from several European clubs may stop the defender from putting pen to paper. (TMW)

Chelsea’s Longest Serving Player Matej Delac Confirms He’s Leaving The Club

Featured Image

Chelsea’s longest serving player Matej Delac is set to leave the club

Matej Delac joined Chelsea in 2010 from Croatian side Inter Zapresic but due to issues over a work permit and lack of experience, the goalkeeper was sent out on loan to feeder club Vitesse Arnhem.

And with his eligibility problems ongoing, Delac has had nine further loan spells at other clubs and is currently with Mouscron in Belgium.

It now appears that the 25-year-old has accepted that he will never get to feature for Chelsea in the Premier League.

But he insists he has no regrets over signing for the Stamford Bridge giants.

Matej Delac said “Yes, soon will come a time I’ll have to leave Chelsea.

“Many people ask me do I regret coming to Chelsea so young, and not joining some smaller club, but I feel no regret.

“Your career can always be better, but I am 25 and have been through so much, met many coaches, players, gained experience.

“The problem was not my quality, Chelsea believed in me, extended my contract several times, but the problem was always work permit.”

“Chelsea had a plan for my career, but you can not plan some things.

“As I arrived, aged 18, it seemed like some movie, I can’t describe that feeling.

“I will remember the greatness of Chelsea, they raised me and taught me human and football manners.”

Luis Suarez Promises To Return To His Best Soon

Featured Image

Luis Suarez has vowed to return to form in spectacular condition once finally putting his injury troubles to one side.

Luis Suarez is yet to truly get going for Barcelona this term, scoring just three goals in 14 matches and not at all in his last five outings.

Suarez has put his goalscoring woes down to a troublesome knee problem but, having been given two weeks to rest after being left out of Uruguay’s latest squad, the former Liverpool star believes that he will soon reach peak fitness.

“Have a rest and finish recovering well, during these two weeks, I will come [back] spectacular,” he told SPORT. “After the injury I had, I hurried a lot with the knee and in the long run it can hurt you. I had a lot of pressure on the physical level, just getting to the national team and until now I had not had a break.

“The best thing was to make an arrangement with the national team and Barca, as the club let me go with the national team just after the injury when I had not played yet. These friendlies [against Poland and Austria] are not a priority for the selection.

“You always have some fear of getting to have some blow and make it worse, but after this break and with the treatment I’m doing I will not have pain anymore.”

RB Leipzig Rule Out Selling Naby Keita To Liverpool Early

Featured Image

RB Leipzig have no intention of allowed Naby Keita to join Liverpool early, according to the club’s sporting director.

Naby Keita has agreed to move to Anfield on July 1, 2018, but reports have claimed the Reds could bring that forward it they pay the Bundesliga club a premium.

However, speaking to Leipziger Volkszeitung, Ralf Rangnick refuted such claims.

“Even if we should not reach the knockout stages of Champions League, it would make no sense to allow Naby to join Liverpool earlier,” he said.

“We want to qualify for Europe again and we need Naby for that.”

Leipzig, currently second in the Bundesliga, remain in contention to finish second in their Champions League group, with two games left to make up a two-point deficit on second-placed Porto, who hold the head-to-head advantage over the German club.

Keita, who rose to prominence last season after joining Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg, would not be eligible to play for Liverpool in the Champions League if he were to make a January switch.

Javier Mascherano Speaks On Neymar’s Barcelona Exit

Featured Image

Javier Mascherano has lifted the lid on how the departure of Neymar affected Barcelona.

Neymar stunned the footballing world earlier this year when he left the Camp Nou to join Paris Saint-Germain in a world-record deal.

Barca defender Mascherano, who played alongside Neymar for four years, has opened up on his exit, revealing it forced the Catalan giants to play in a different way.

“When a type of player like Neymar goes it leaves a very big void, among other things because of the importance that he had in the play,” he told ESPN.

“We had to change the way of playing, do it with another system. [Ousmane] Dembele came, but he could not demonstrate anything, since his injury came quickly. It was a tough blow, as we did not expect it.”

Marouane Fellaini Not Fully Fit Yet – Roberto Martinez

Featured Image

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has revealed that he left Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini out of his latest squad as he is not yet fit enough to play a full part.

Marouane Fellaini was introduced from the bench for the final 30 minutes of the Red Devils’ 1-0 loss to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon following a month out injured.

Martinez does not feel the need to risk Fellaini for Belgium’s friendlies with Mexico and Japan over the next week

“He needs a proper 10 days work with no game in order for him to be fully fit,” he told reporters. “Medically it is the right choice to allow Marouane to get fit.

“If it had been a competitive game I think we would have called him up because maybe for the second game he could have been on the pitch. This is a period where we can afford not to risk him until he is 100%.”

Ramires Reveals He’s Back At Chelsea

Featured Image

Ex-Chelsea midfielder Ramires has confirmed he’s training at the club’s Surrey training complex.

Ramires spent six years at Stamford Bridge before joining Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning in 2016.

It now appears he is back in west London for more than just a reunion with the Premier League champions allowing him to continue rehabilitation on an ongoing injury at their training base.

Ramires confirmed he was back at the club’s training ground this week by uploading a photo onto his Instagram story from the club’s dressing room.

The Brazilian has plenty of time to recover for the start of the new CSL season in March.

Ramires has made 32 appearances for Jiangsu Suning, finding the net 11 times. He made 261 appearances for Chelsea before leaving the club to move to China in 2016.

He won the Premier League with Chelsea in 2015 but he is most fondly remembered for his exquisite lob against Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2012 – which the Blues would go on to win.

Islam Slimani Looking To Quit Leicester City In January

Featured Image

Leicester City striker Islam Slimani is reportedly keen to leave the club during the January transfer window.

Islam Slimani moved to Leicester City in August 2016 for a club-record £28m fee following the Foxes’ unprecedented Premier League title triumph but struggled to nail down a regular place in the side, featuring just 23 times in his debut season.

Slimani has added just five appearances to that tally so far this term and, according to L’Expression, he is now keen to move on to pastures new in the winter window.

The publication says that new Leicester boss Claude Puel is planning to run the rule over Slimani in the coming weeks before making a decision on his future – although it is believed that the side would only sanction a loan exit for the remainder of the season.

There are however also reportedly questions over whether either side has the financial power available to help Leicester recoup the club record £28m they paid for the services of the Algerian forward.

Leicester currently sit 12th in the Premier League after eleven games following Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Stoke where Slimani was an unused substitute.

Romelu Lukaku Can Handle The Pressure At Manchester United – Roberto Martinez

Featured Image

Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez has backed Romelu Lukaku to return to form sooner rather than later following a run of seven games without a goal for Manchester United.

Romelu Lukaku was criticised on the back of the Red Devils’ 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at the weekend after failing to make any sort of impact on the game, as his scoreless streak at club level continued.

Martinez, who also worked with Lukaku at Everton, believes that the striker has what it takes to adapt to the demands of life at Old Trafford as long as he sticks to his guns.

“I’ve got a big advantage with Romelu because I’ve worked with him for four years,” he told reporters. “I know Romelu inside out. I think he just relishes the challenge. He’s been enjoying a really good start to the season and now is a period he is ready to cope with.

“I have no worries whatsoever. All he needs to do in his career is to carry on being himself in a club with the expectations and the demand of Manchester United. For me nothing has changed in Romelu’s mind.

“He is confident, he has an incredible belief in what he can bring. All I want is that he carries on seeing himself in that manner when he scores and when he doesn’t, which is going to be highlighted in a club like Manchester United.”

Report :Mesut Ozil To Sign New Arsenal Contract If Handed No. 10 Jersey

Featured Image

Mesut Ozil could continue his career at Arsenal upon the condition he gets Jack Wilshere’s No. 10 shirt, according to The Sun.

Mesut Ozil is out of contract in the summer but it is claimed he could sign a new deal if Arsene Wenger gives him his favoured number and an increase to his £150,000-a-week salary.

A question mark remains over Wilshere’s future at the club, with the 25-year-old only starting in the Europa League and Carabao Cup games this season.

Wilshere – also out of contract at the end of the season – has held the shirt since Robin van Persie departed in 2012, while Ozil is the number 10 for his country and was 10 at previous side Real Madrid.

Ozil recently insisted that he is keen to “give everything” to Arsenal amid speculation over his future.
