8 Feared Dead, 9 Wounded In Ogun Auto Crash

Featured Image

At least eight persons, including six males and two females, have died, while nine others sustained varying degrees of injury in an early morning accident that occurred on Saturday at Olorunpodo Junction, near Ogbere, Ogun State, along Lagos-Sagamu-Benin Expressway.

It was gathered that the auto crash, which involved a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number ETU 409 XA and a Volvo truck, with number plate KRD 908 XN, occurred around 5.30am and was caused by reckless driving on the part of the truck driver.

According to the spokesperson of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, the truck driver, heading to Benin was driving against the traffic when it collided with the commercial bus heading towards Ijebu Ode.

Akinbiyi stated that the injured, including the driver of the bus, who later died at the hospital, were rescued and taken to a private hospital at J4 Area of Ogbere, while the remains of the dead victims, have been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Ijebu Ode.

He stated further that the wreckage of the commercial bus and the Volvo truck, had been evacuated and towed to the Ogbere police station.

Confirming the incident, the Corps Commander of the Ogun State Traffic Management outfit, Seni Ogunyemi, has warned drivers of articulated vehicles to desist from driving in a direction prohibited by traffic law, noting that “they should always give consideration to other road users, most especially, during the ‘ember’ months with their attendant increase in human and vehicular movement.”

I Have Been Single For About A Year Now – Orezi

Featured Image

Nigerian singer, Orezi has made a shocking revelation about his relationship status. Despite the fame and money, the singer revealed that he has been single all through this year.

In a recent interview with Sunday scoop, Orezi revealed that it has not been an easy task staying away from women. While speaking about his relationship status, Orezi said;

“I am not in a relationship at the moment because I have yet to meet a lady I like. I have been single for about a year now and I have not had sex with any woman since I’m not dating anyone. But I must admit that it is not always easy to stay away from women because they compliment us.

If you are not successful, women will not come after you. I am aware that I must get married someday, but I don’t know when because I must plan things well. No doubt, there is pressure from my father and mother, but I believe it will happen at the right time.

“In as much as we have promiscuous women in Nigeria, I believe we have the good ones too. But the truth is everyone cannot be good. Even in the Bible, we have good and bad people. In the church too, we have bad and good women.”

Meanwhile, it has been Observed that Orezi is one out of many Nigerian celebrities crushing on Rihanna. When asked about his admiration for Rihanna, Here is what he said;

“I’m yet to meet Rihanna. The last time I thought I met her was in my dream. Something interrupted the dream and I woke up.

“I admire everything about her. Apart from being a pretty woman, she is a goal getter and she has achieved so much in life at a very young age. She ventured into cosmetics this year and she is doing well. I just admire her as an artiste and individual.”

However, Orezi who also spoke about how much he has met his career goals in 2017 disclosed that his own record company will be unveiled in January 2018 despite working as an independent artiste all through this year.

In his words;

“This year is better for me because I am now my own CEO, which is a big progress. Though I have been doing things on my own, I plan to unveil my record company in January. So far, I have released three singles and they are all doing well. The recent song I released two months ago was Halleluyah. I didn’t exactly meet all my goals this year, but I still give thanks to God.”

#EndSARS: Nigeria Police Launches #SupportSARS | Counters Allegations Of Brutality

In an attempt to quash the #EndSARS campaign, which is calling for the scrapping of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad unit of the police, alleged to be terrorizing citizens, the Nigeria police has launched a #SupportSARS campaign on social media.

Allegations of brutality, extra-judicial killings, torture, wanton arrests for bribes and other menacing conducts have since flooded the internet, with scores of citizens calling the police department “a cluster of criminals in uniform.”

However, while admitting that a few personnel of SARS may have acted against the ethics of the profession, the police said the majority of its officers are “good, sound, disciplined and commendable.”

#EndSARS Campaign: Simi, Adekunle Gold, Reekado Banks Share Bitter Stories Of Their Encounter With SARS

In a flurry of tweets on Friday, the police called on “Nigerians to Support FSARS to become better, and serve the county better. Thank you. #ReformSARS #SupportSARS.”

Also, the Police spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, in an interview with The Punch – which was published on Sunday, December 10 – spoke about SARS and the complaints against some of its personnel.

We are quite concerned with the complaints against SARS and that is why the Inspector-General of Police has directed its re-organisation. We know that most of the complaints and allegations against SARS are not always true, but the IG has ordered an investigation to ascertain them. He has also directed that human rights desk be set up in all the state commands to handle rights abuse by SARS operatives. So, the people who started the #EndSARS campaign can channel their grievances to the desk officers for investigation. SARS has been in existence for over 40 years and it is essential to the force, so we cannot dismantle it,” he said.

Not convinced enough, some Nigerians have vowed to hold #EndSARS rally Nationwide on Monday, December 11, 2017.

Nigeria Approves “Partial” Sale Of NIPOST

Featured Image

The Federal Government has approved a partial sale of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), those were the words of the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, on Thursday.

The minister said this in Abuja while inaugurating the steering committee and the project delivery team for the postal sector reforms and restructuring of/modernization of NIPOST.

NIPOST To Soon Begin Banking Services

He said the National Council of Privatisation under the chairmanship of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had set up a steering committee to ensure NIPOST was ‘’partially’’ commercialized.

His words: “Government has approved that NIPOST is partially commercialized in keeping faith with the Second Scheduled Part 1, Section 6(1) of the Public Enterprises (Privatisation and Commercialisation ) Act, 1991.”

“In that regard, the government wishes to separate what hitherto had been the dual function of NIPOST as regulator and operator.”

“When passed into law, NIPOST will concentrate on its function as an operator in Nigeria’s postal system; hence the need for reforms so that it can make its pitch for a share of the now deregulated postal market.”

Shittu said NIPOST will be expected to operate as a commercial entity with a strong corporate brand after the committee finishes its work in April.

“This committee is expected to take postal services in Nigeria to a new height in the face of the global challenge posed by new technology to postal services.”

Buhari Travels To France On Monday

Featured Image

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday depart Abuja for Paris, the capital of France, where he will meet over 50 world leaders and participate in the One Planet Summit.

The President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, made this known in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday.

Adesina further disclosed that the summit was jointly being organised by the United Nations, the World Bank Group, and the French Government in partnership with non-governmental organizations.

He said the Nigerian leader would be accompanied by the governors of Adamawa, Kano and Ondo states, and the ministers of foreign affairs and environment.

The statement read: “The summit, jointly organised by the United Nations, the World Bank Group, and the French Government in partnership with non-governmental organisations concerned about reversing the negative effects of climate change, like Bloomberg Philanthropies, holds at the eco-friendly La Seine Musicale, situated on the picturesque Seguin Island in western Paris.”

“The main focus of the summit, with the theme, ‘Climate Change Financing’, according to the organisers, will be to innovatively pool public and private finance to support and accelerate our common efforts to fight climate change.”

“While recognising that all countries are affected by the effects of climate change under ‘One Planet’ but some are more vulnerable, the summit seeks for tangible collective action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”

Adesina revealed that before heading for the Summit venue, the Nigerian leader would attend a lunch hosted by President Emmanuel Macron of France for Heads of State and Governments at the Elysee Palace.

He disclosed that Buhari and other world leaders and participants would make presentations under four sub-themes namely: Scaling-up Finance for Climate Action; Greening Finance for Sustainable Business; Accelerating Local and Regional Climate Action; and Strengthening Policies for Ecological and Inclusive Transition.

While signing the Paris Agreement on Climate Change at the sidelines of the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 22, 2016, Buhari had said it “demonstrated Nigeria’s commitment to global efforts to reverse the effects of the negative trend.”

“The participation of Nigeria’s delegation at the One Planet summit will reinforce the country’s commitment to realising the objectives of the Paris Agreement,” the statement added.

Distinguished Delegates to this convention,

Members of the Press,

Ladies and Gentlemen.

‘Rebuilding to Regain’

On behalf of members of the National Working Committee of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, I dedicate this mandate to the Almighty God who it has pleased to make this convention successful and grant us this opportunity to serve our great party. We give all glory to God and we commit PDP into his hands.

I stand before you this day, humbled by the mandate you’ve just given to my colleagues and I to lead this great party at this time in Nigeria’s political history. We wholeheartedly accept it with extreme gratitude.

Eighteen years ago specifically February 14, 1999, this party made history with its first ever national convention in Jos, Plateau State and since then, has grown to become undisputedly, the largest political party on the African continent.

I recall that before that, precisely on the 19th of August, 1998, our founding fathers gathered here in Abuja to give birth to this party whose aims and objectives were patriotic, with lofty and visionary dreams.

By my understanding, the mandate you have given us today is clear and unambiguous. It is to return our party to power come 2019. As Herculean as this mandate seems, I know it’s achievable. My campaign pillars for this election are ‘To Rebuild, Reposition and Regain’. Let me assure you great members and leaders of our party, that by the grace of God and with all hands on deck, the brief tenancy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Aso Rock Villa expires on May 28, 2019. By this, we serve them a quit notice.

This has to be immediate, in order to save our beloved country from disintegration. We are all witnesses to how the unity of this country has been shaken to its very foundation under the watch of the rudderless and clueless APC. We therefore have a gigantic task of retrieving this country from APC’s clear lack of direction and confusion starting with the Presidency.

In the words of the 34th President of the United States of America Dwight .D. Eisenhower, “If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power”. Judging from this, it is crystal clear to all Nigerians, that APC is not a political party, but a body hurriedly assembled to seize power without a clear cut plan for governance.

Our party on the other hand, was founded on ideals which are totally in tandem with those of the founding fathers of this great country. Those founding fathers had in mind, a prosperous and lasting democracy as captured in the preamble of our constitution clearly stating their desire for a free and egalitarian society.

Even in our perceived failure of 2015, we chose to abide by our strong faith in democracy, willingly conceding power to opposition, thereby elevating the democratic status of Nigeria. We are the true democrats!
I can therefore say without an iota of doubt, that PDP’s contributions to the growth and sustenance of democracy in this country in the last 18 years remain unequalled. The best way to celebrate the memories of these founding fathers, is to ensure that the ideals are continuously engaged. (At this juncture great PDP leaders and members here present, let us stand and observe a minute silent for our fallen heroes one of whom is our pioneer National Chairman and former Vice President of this country Dr Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme GCON who passed on recently).

With your mandate I assure you, that all necessary steps will be taken to avoid a repeat of our past mistakes. Indeed we have learnt our lessons and by this convention, we are now set to forge a new path for our great party and Nigeria. Under my watch, internal democracy will be strictly adhered to with a deliberate policy to return ‘real’ power to the people. No more imposition, no more impunity. Every member of this party can from this moment, consider him or herself, an equal shareholder in our common destiny. I call on all Nigerians, of all creed and class, to embrace this new PDP and join in this quest for a new Nigeria. Particularly, I reach out to our old members who for one reason or the other have left the party, to please come back ‘home’.

I cannot end this address without acknowledging my co-contestants especially for the chairmanship position. Truth be told, any one of you is eminently qualified to lead this party. I thank you for a worthy contest and being part of history as this marks the first time such a highly competitive contest to produce the leadership of a political party has been held in Nigeria. You have every cause to stand tall and I now extend my hand of fellowship to you all. Let ‘US’ Rebuild, Reposition & Regain.

In the same breath, let me thank the outgoing National Caretaker Committee led by Senator Ahmed Markafi. We will forever remember your courageous leadership in our most trying times. History will no doubt, be kind to you. I must also thank the Convention Committee led by HE Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for a job well done.

Finally in accepting this mandate, I am guided by the words of the 19th President of the United States of America, Rutherford Hayes who said in 1877 “he serves his party best, who serves his country best”

God bless you all

Long live the Peoples’ Democratic Party of Nigeria

Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria

PDP-Power to the People

Power to the People-PDP.

I thank you for listening

Who Is Afraid Of Daddy Freeze?

Who Is Afraid Of Daddy Freeze?, By Femi Aribisala

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

Nothing in recent memory seems to have affected the bank-balances of Nigerian pastors as Daddy Freeze’s exposure of the deception of tithing in churches. Nigerian tithe-collecting pastors are up in arms, throwing every possible missile at him, including death threats. Jesus says: “Whoever desires to save his life will lose it.” (Matthew 16:25). Since Freeze’s exposure, tithe-collecting pastors have been spouting fire and brimstone, hopelessly trying to save their lives.

This piece was written by Femi Aribisala. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

Death Threats

The assault on Freeze brings to mind the assault of Jewish pastors on Jesus when he also exposed their deception and hypocrisy. The upshot of this was the decision to have Jesus killed with extreme prejudice. Similarly, Daddy Freeze says a pastor, whose church he attended for 11 good tithe-paying years, has placed a death sentence on him for preaching against tithing. The pastor “prophesied” that Freeze would die within two years.

Jesus says: “An evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45). You can easily tell that this so-called pastor is a charlatan masquerading as a child of God. Not only does he curse his enemies contrary to the way of Christ, even his curses are fake. Otherwise, why wait for two years for Freeze to die? Why not kill him right now?

Apostle Suleiman

Perhaps that anonymous pastor learnt a lesson from another endangered tithe-collector: self-styled Apostle Suleiman. The “apostle” exposed himself by foolishly prophesying that Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, would die within two weeks. Unfortunately for him, the governor obstinately refused to die.

“Apostle” Suleiman was so riled up over Daddy Freeze’s preachments against tithing, he announced the decision to raise his tithe from 10 percent to 30 percent in retaliation. Clearly, the “apostle” needs to go back to bible school. So doing, he would learn that a tithe is 10 percent and can never be 30 percent.

Rather than boast publicly about fictitious increases in his tithes, his eminence the “apostle” should endeavour to listen to Jesus: “Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 6:1). “When you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” (Matthew 6:3-4).

Paul Adefarasin

On his part, tithe-collecting Paul Adefarasin took the whole debate to stratospheric levels, the better to make tithing unassailable to fastidious bible scholars. He said: “God created the universe, he took a tithe: the Milky Way. God created the Milky Way, he took a tithe: the Galaxy. God created the Galaxy, he took a tithe: our Solar System. God created the Solar System, he took a tithe: Planet Earth. God created the Planet Earth, he took a tithe: Israel. God created Israel, he took a tithe: Jerusalem.”

At this juncture, I began to wonder if it could equally be postulated that God created Lagos, he took a tithe: Adefarasin’s House on the Rock! Who ever heard of God paying tithes? By the time the erudite pastor waxed lyrical and refashioned Jesus as: “a tithe, holding a tithe, going into a tithe,” his congregation could not bear it any longer. They burst into wild applause which I took to mean: “This pastor of ours is just too much!”

Matthew Ashimolowo

But the response to Freeze that took the cake came from Matthew Ashimolowo of Kingsway International Christian Centre. He felt so threatened by Daddy Freeze, he dropped his mask of holiness and became abusive. He told Daddy Freeze to “Shut up!”

Said Ashimolowo “ex cathedra:” “Some bunch of yoyo somewhere should not determine what we believe. Some guy who beats his wife, throws her out, throws his children out of the house should not determine what we believe. Not only that, he broke his own son’s knees while trying to defend his wife. Not only that, he drinks alcohol, sleeps with women and he is trying to preach to preacher?”

But, while we are on the subject, should Ashimolowo himself be telling anybody what to believe? Not according to Jesus.

Jesus says: “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” (Matthew 7:3-5).

Ashimolowo”s hypocrisy is mind-boggling. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

Wealth Transfer

Some years back, Ashimolowo advertised a crusade in Port Harcourt, captioned “The Coming Wealth Transfer.” This was based on the spurious pie-in-the-sky notion that God is soon going to transfer the wealth of non-Christians to Christians.

However, officials of the Charity Commission in England, an organisation which routinely polices the affairs of nominally non-profit organisations including churches, detected a more genuine wealth transfer taking place in Ashimolowo’s KICC. That wealth transfer was not from God to the members of Ashimolowo’s church: it was from members of the church to Ashimolowo.

The Commission discovered “serious misconduct and mismanagement” in the finances of KICC. It alleged that hundreds of thousands of pounds were dubiously transferred overseas. A £120,000 birthday party was given for Ashimolowo, out of which £80,000 was used to buy him a spanking Mercedes Benz. It was also reported that Ashimolowo used the church’s visa card to buy a timeshare apartment in Florida.

Should a man with this questionable CV tell Christians what they should believe and give? You be the judge.

The Commission maintained Ashimolowo acted as both trustee and paid employee of KICC, in contravention of British charity law. He allegedly approved suspicious payments and benefits to himself and his wife made to his private companies operated illegally from church premises. As a result of these irregularities, KICC was placed in the hands of receivers, new trustee managers were appointed and Ashimolowo was asked to repay £200,000 to the church.

The upshot of this was that Ashimolowo relocated temporarily to Nigeria, where he started preaching about “Sweat-less Wealth,” and “Twenty-Four Hour Miracles.” The latter required the gullible to give their monies, cars, televisions, stereos, cell-phones and even the Certificates of Occupancy of their houses to preachers in order to receive fictitious financial windfalls from heaven within 24 hours. A few of my acquaintances were scammed at these 419 “crusades.”

Deceived-deceivers

God says: “Among my people are found wicked men; they lie in wait as one who sets snares; they set a trap; they catch men.” (Jeremiah 5:26). Daddy Freeze has put these tithe-collecting fraudsters on the warpath, fighting to defend their bank-balances. Surely, he did not expect them to surrender their meal-tickets without a fight.

Who is afraid of Daddy Freeze? Thief- and robber-pastors. The fear of Daddy Freeze is the beginning of mischief in Nigerian churches.

Why I Am Upset With M.I – Vector Reveals

Featured Image

Popular Nigerian Rapper, Vector has revealed the major reasons, he is not in perfect terms with fellow rapper and Chocolate city executive, M.I Abaga.

The beef between the duo was said to have started with M.I’s comment about Vector’s collaboration on Loose Talk podcast as well as his controversial lyrics on his “Rappers Fix Up Your Life” track. On the song, M.I praised South African rappers and blasted all Nigerian Rappers who have abadoned the Rap culture to embrace singing.

Meanwhile, M.I’s comment on the state of Rap genre in Nigeria sparked up a reaction from Vector and since then the rapper has been throwing shades at M.I, and it was speculated that another Hip-hop beef in Nigeria could be brewing.

In a recent interview with Sunday Scoop, Vector opened up on why he is upset with M.I. Vector said;

“no matter how much your parents flog you, they will not tell outsiders that you are a stupid child. He doesn’t have to say it openly that SA rappers are ‘killing’ Nigerian rappers. I have never said this before, but the simple truth is that we shouldn’t wash our dirty linen in public. It is fine to discipline people at home and I support that. If your children mess up, you can discipline them.

“When Jay-Z released the Death of Auto-Tune, he addressed everyone and said they should all go back to rap music. He didn’t say a group of rappers is doing better than one group. I didn’t like the fact that he called out Nigerian rappers openly and was comparing us with SA rappers.”

However, the Lafiaji rapper also cleared the air about reasons he has not had any collaboration with M.I over the years. He said, they have both made several attepmts to work together but something always came up.

“We tried to work together on two different occasions, but it just didn’t happen. The first time was when he sent a beat to me to work on and he was supposed to be on the remix of my song, King Kong. Classiq later took his verse and did very well. We can still do something together later in the future. It is music; it is nothing serious,” he concluded

Spalletti: Inter Milan Must Recognise Their Quality

Featured Image

Luciano Spalletti hopes his men can understand how good they are, after they held Juventus to a goalless draw away from home.

Inter Milan became the first team to prevent Juventus from scoring at home since August 2015, as they held on to their top position.

Inter’s stoic defensive display on their travels is a further indication of the talent in the squad, according to their head coach.

“In the first 20 minutes, we kept the ball well right up to the edge of the area, passing it around nicely,” Spalletti said, according to Inter’s official website.

“However, in the second half, we lost too many balls considering our quality.

“When you come to this stadium and succeed in keeping a clean sheet and take a point, then it’s good. However, we must quickly understand how we’ve earned a point from an encounter of this calibre thanks to our quality.

“We must be conscious of who and where we are and how we deserve it.”

Allegri Lauds Juventus’ Display

Featured Image

Massimiliano Allegri has praised the display of his Juventus side against Inter Milan, and says not scoring was the only negative in their performance.

For the first time since August 2015, Juventus failed to score in a home game, playing a goalless stalemate against Inter Milan.

However, Allegri was quite pleased with how his men played, but hoped they could have scored to crown their efforts.

“Running is not the most important thing in football but it definitely helps. It allows you to bring your technical ability to the fore, and that’s what wins you games,” he said, via the club’s website.

“We played very well – perhaps even better than I imagined. We restricted the team that’s top of the league to very few chances indeed.

“Inter used up a lot of energy just trying to keep up with us and they were worn out by the end of the first half.

“There are certainly plenty of positives to take. The only thing lacking was a goal. We played well in the second half too.

“Inter have players who put in lots of crosses from out wide but we took the sting out of them by doubling up on the wings.”
