The Lagos State Police Command on Friday confirmed the arrest of a prominent Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu alias Burna Boy, who was accused by a colleague, Mr. 2Kay of being behind his attack some months back.

In November, the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, had declared Burna Boy wanted after parading his manager and some of the suspects who allegedly fleeced and beat up 2Kay inside his room at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island.

The gang leader of the suspected robbers, Tunmise Omotore, had also confessed on how they disguised as room service to rob Mr. 2kay at Eko Hotel and Suites on the instruction of Burba Boy’s Road Manager, Joel Kantiock.

However, it is understood that the singer on Friday submitted himself to the Lagos State Police Command.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesman, Chike Oti, a Superintendent of Police (SP), Burna Boy turned himself in at about 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Oti said: “He was subsequently arrested, interrogated and detained and would have his day in court on Monday, December 18.”

After the interrogation, Edgal was quoted to have said that the State Police Command has zero tolerance for all forms of crime and would not hesitate to prosecute anyone found culpable in any criminal offence perpetrated in the State.

“There would be no sacred cows. This Command is poised to ensure that every resident can feel safe wherever they are and carry out their businesses without fear or favour. Anyone, therefore, found to be involved in this case would be made to face the law to clear his or her name or face prosecution,” the statement quoted Imohimi as saying.

Burna Boy earlier reaction:

The embattled Nigerian singer had earlier today reacted to allegations that he was behind the robbery of his colleague, Mr. 2kay.

After a deafening silence which has lasted over two months, Burna Boy, via his Twitter page, says he will “reveal the truth” and face the allegations.

He wrote: “I’ve tried to remain silent because as you all know, plenty talk no dey full basket. But today we go use bucket pack am.

“Lies and politics have surrounded my name this past few weeks but today you will hear THE TRUTH & I will start from the truth behind the SHOW “Postponement.”

Conte: Luiz Has Serious Knee Injury

Featured Image

Antonio Conte has revealed that the knee injury keeping Chelsea defender, David Luiz sidelined is a serious one, but hopes for a speedy recovery.

The Brazil international centre back has been in and out of the squad this season, due to a fluctuating form.

However, knee injury has ensured Luiz stays on the sidelines and Conte is hoping to have him back soon.

“David has an inflammation in the knee and we are trying to solve this situation with the doctor,” Conte told reporters at a news conference ahead of Saturday’s clash with Southampton.

“It’s important to assess the situation day by day and to try to solve this problem. I don’t know when he’s able to come back, but for sure we are trying to sort his situation.

“The player is working apart [from the rest of the team] and the last days he was outside and in the pool.

“Today he was swimming and out on the pitch to run a bit, but very slowly. This is a serious problem, but we hope to solve it as soon as possible.

“I think every player is frustrated when they don’t play, especially when injured. For sure, there’s a lot of frustration for the injury and because every player wants to try to put difficulty into the coach’s choices.

“I understand, I was a player and when I was injured I was very sad because you want to feel well and be ready for the competition and training. But injuries are part of the job.”

Former Arsenal Midfielder Kim Kallstrom Retires From Football

Featured Image

Kim Kallstrom, who won 131 caps for Sweden, announced on Friday that he is hanging up his boots aged 35.

The left-sided midfielder had returned to one of his first clubs, Djurgardens, in Stockholm, on a two-year deal before the recently completed Swedish season.

Kim Kallstrom won national league titles with Djurgardens and Lyon and also played for Rennes, Spartak Moscow, Grasshoppers and Arsenal.

Kallstrom insisted that he no longer has the energy or desire to train in between the ‘fun’ matches.

‘I feel I’m done, and I’ve done what I can on the field,’ the tearful Kallstrom told reporters at an emotional news conference in Stockholm.

‘It’s fun to play matches at the weekend, but you have to be able to do the work during the week. I feel I lack the energy there.’

No Playing Guarantees For Islam Slimani – Claude Puel

Featured Image

Leicester boss Claude Puel has offered no guarantees record signing Islam Slimani will stay with the Foxes.

The striker has played just 10 minutes since Puel was appointed manager in October. He has failed to impress since a £30m move from Sporting Lisbon in August 2016, netting 12 times in 41 games.

“Time will tell to speak about the January transfer window but he is in the squad,” Puel told a press conference ahead of Saturday’s visit of Crystal Palace.

“He was on the bench for the first game. He provides the same option as Ulloa because Ulloa works very well in the training session, harder.

“I think now Islam Slimani is working very well also. It is always difficult for me to make assurances with competition between the players.”

Diego Maradona Wants Kylian Mbappe To Replace Gareth Bale At Real Madrid

Featured Image

Diego Maradona has revealed that he told Real Madrid to offload Gareth Bale and replace him with Kylian Mbappe.

Maradona, who starred for Argentina when they won the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, believes Real should cut their losses with Bale.

The Wales star cost Madrid a then world-record fee of £80m in 2013 but has missed the majority of this season through injury, while Mbappe is part of Paris St Germain’s prolific strike force that includes Neymar and Edinson Cavani.

Maradona made his feelings clear in an interview with Spanish newspaper AS when he said: “Bale? Let them sell Bale or give him away, although (Real president) Florentino (Perez) is less likely to give him away… but I think they had to sign Mbappe.”

Bale has a chance to win over the Argentina legend when his Real Madrid side take on Gremio in the FIFA Club World Cup final in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

Renato Sanches Not Returning To Bayern Munich In January

Featured Image

Bayern Munich boss Jupp Heynckes is surprised by reports that Renato Sanches could be returning from his loan spell at Swansea in January.

Renato Sanches has struggled since his move to the Premier League on deadline day, so far failing to score in 10 appearances and being unable to secure a regular role in Paul Clement’s side.

He has not played since coming off the bench for five minutes against Stoke City on December 2, not even making their bench for matches against West Brom and Manchester City.

There had been reports that Swansea and Bayern were in talks to terminate their loan agreement but Heynckes played that down and stated he is still full of belief in the 20-year-old’s ability.

‘I assume that Hasan Salihamidzic [Sporting Director] talked to him on the phone,’ he is quoted as saying to Bild. ‘I’m surprised. I’m not worried about getting him back to Bayern.

‘You also have to see if that makes sense. In midfield, we have no need.’

Where Is Nnamdi Kanu?

Where Is Nnamdi Kanu?, By Ose Oyamendan

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

Have you ever wondered if the federal government really cares about you? Do you think you’re only useful because you have a voter’s card?

Or, does thinking about whether the government likes you make you contemplate the Nigerian Police Force, where the fine men and women of the best Police in Africa tells you, “the Police is your friend”?

This piece was written by Ose Oyamendan. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

Have you seen the annual Christmas carol from the uniformed forces whipping through the social media? Doesn’t it make your head swell with pride that those charged with making your life better are in one yuletide video clip? Does it not warm your heart to remember the many times they’ve lessened your load by drilling a fine hole in your pocket?

Thinking about the dependable men and women of the uniformed forces does make you wonder how serious Nigeria takes the lives of her citizens. People tend to disappear and nobody even bothers to ask what happened to them. I know it’s Christmas season and folks are busy editing their contact lists, ordering paternity tests to determine if that kid is actually theirs and picking fights with girlfriends and wives. People, relax – we’re out of recession. Go spend and be merry!

The government’s pocket is definitely not light, not in this season of giving. I don’t think the Nigerian government has a gift list of a few cows and bags of rice with Nnamdi Kanu’s name as the recipient. Kanu definitely would not cost the taxpayer the load of dimes the keepers of the crown would spend on gifts for the kingmakers to ensure the crown remains on their heads come 2019.

For someone who would not cost the government a dime this Christmas, it is worrisome that no one has seen Kanu in three months and nobody is asking of his whereabout. The inspector general of police is begging Nigerians to embrace SARS and here I was all these years thinking SARS is a terrible disease. Ask the Generals where their best friend of yesterday is and you’re likely to get a “Kanu who? The attorney general is busy talking about a man called Maina who used to be manna from the villa for a select few.

The man who loves a microphone and camera has suddenly become camera shy and everyone thinks he’s merely going through a rite of passage. It’s troubling that in this season of goodwill when brothers must forgive their brothers for their past misdeeds and sisters must embrace their troublesome sisters-in-law, no one is bothered that the man who almost set the nation on fire has disappeared without trace.

Where are our manners, Nigerians? Where is that famed traditions that our parents injected into the eba and soup we swallowed as kids? Are we not supposed to be our brothers’ keepers? Is it not time we all ask with one voice – where is Nnamdi Kanu?

How could a people’s hero like Kanu disappear like a puff of smoke? This is a man who wanted to lead a nation. Is it a ploy by some folks to discredit him, maybe give the impression that if he had actually led his thousands of followers to war, he would have fled and left them all to their fate at the first sign of a battalion and tanks in front of his house.

I like Kanu. I thought he was a man you should follow with a reality show crew and tape as much absurdity as possible for the delight of post-dinner television audiences. The first time I noticed him was at a Nigerian event in London almost a decade ago. The man cut into the session, ran around the room with a Biafran flag and before you can name all the states in the South-East, he had promptly disappeared.

I’ve worked in that place they call overseas and I know the backwaters of politics. I knew what this was as I scanned the room for a camera trained on Kanu. This was a man in the clutch of some NGO or moneybags. What he had just done was to justify his next paycheck and he would have the little show on camera for his bosses.

He was a man to be laughed at and ignored. But, Nigeria is a theatre. He baited the government and the mighty federal government of Nigeria fell for it. They clamped him in detention and failed to try him. You know what happens when you dump manure in a room and shut the door? Eventually it stinks up the whole house. That’s what happened with the fella with a titling British accent.

I miss Kanu. In his blind grope in the dark for relevance, he raised vital issues that stretch the seams of this already fragile nation. You can toss all the issues into a basket, shake them up but you’re gonna get the same question Sunny Okosuns asked a long time ago, “which way Nigeria?”

Nigerian Sentenced To 18 Years Imprisonment In Vietnam

Featured Image

A Southern Vietnam court has sentenced a Nigerian to 18 years in prison over a fake customs enforcement scam, state media reported on Friday.

A local media reported that Michael Ikechukwu Leonard, 45, was convicted on Thursday of “deceiving others to steal their assets” in a scam which targeted wealthy Vietnamese women.

The court in Can Tho city determined that Leonard gained his victims’ trust on messaging apps using various alter egos, including a U.S. army officer.

The convict was said to have promised to send his victims valuable presents, including laptops and jewellery from the U.S.

Local accomplices, Huynh Ha Binh, Huynh Ha Uyen and Nguyen Tran Quynh Nhi, would then contact the women claiming to be customs agents and demand fees or fines for the non-existent shipments.

They successfully conned a woman in Can Tho out of 28,500 dollars, leading to their arrest.

It is unclear how many women were duped by the gang in total.

Leonard’s accomplices received sentences ranging from 12 to 15 years.

Nigerian Army Vows To Punish Soldiers Leaking Information

Featured Image

The Nigerian Army has declared that it will henceforth severely punish any soldier found to have divulged information on ongoing military operations without due clearance.

It also cautioned its personnel engaged in internal and external security operations against violating established rules of engagement, pointing out that human rights must also be respected.

The Army made these declarations in a communique issued on Thursday at the end of the Chief Of Army Staff Conference themed “Re-appraising the Nigerian Army’s Operational Efficiency in Combating Contemporary National Security Challenges”, held in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

The communique was signed by C.A. Jemitola, a major general and Chief of Staff to the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, a lieutenant general.

The army had in recent past been accused of breach of human rights laws and rules of engagement in some of its operations especially in the North-east and South-east regions of Nigeria.

The accusations were largely based on information from disaffected personnel in the ranks of the military.

However, according to a nine-point communique issued, the Army said the resolution is in line with the 1962 Official Secret Act.

Acknowledging the need for its operations to be conducted “within the context of the rule of law and international best practices”, the conference said commanders must henceforth strictly employ “established Rules of Engagement.”

Nigerian Army Vows To Punish Soldiers Leaking Information

Crystal Palace Manager Roy Hodgson Hoping To Keep Yohan Cabaye At The Club

Featured Image

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is keen to keep midfielder Yohan Cabaye at Selhurst Park.

Yohan Cabaye is in the final months of his contract, having arrived in south London from Paris Saint-Germain for £10m in July 2015.

Palace risk losing him on a free transfer over the summer but Hodgson feels he has improved after a period of inconsistency, leaving the former England boss keen to utilise his talents as they bid to avoid relegation.

“If you say to me would I like Yohan Cabaye to keep working here with me, then of course the answer is ‘yes’,” he said.

“I’m a big admirer of his and he’s doing a fantastic job.

“But his situation with the club will be discussed with [director of football] Dougie [Freedman] and the chairman [Steve Parish] and then they’ll bring me in on the discussion at the appropriate time.

“There’s no doubt he’s one of the players we have who are bonafide, quality, Premier League players who can keep us in the league, and that group needs assisting by being boosted, not pruning down in any way.

“I’d be surprised if the people who watched us play weren’t impressed by his performances in the middle with Luka Milivojevic; they’ve been very, very good together.

“I’m pretty certain he won’t go anywhere this season and at the moment that’s the only thing in the forefront of my mind: the 2017/18 season, keeping us in the league.

I can’t allow my energy or my enthusiasm for the job to be dented in any way by thoughts of 2018/19.”

Cabaye has only missed three league games for Crystal Palace this season and has established a formidable partnership with Milivojevic at the heart of their midfield.

The Eagles are unbeaten in six games and only find themselves still in the relegation zone on goal difference.

Antoine Griezmann Allowed To Leave Atletico Madrid – Diego Simeone

Featured Image

Diego Simeone has confirmed that Antoine Griezmann will be allowed to leave Atletico Madrid.

The 26-year-old is reported to be a target for a number of Europe’s largest clubs, with Manchester United linked with a move for the France international last summer.

Antoine Griezmann is expected to remain at Atletico for the remainder of the season, but it appears he has been given the all clear by Simeone to leave the club in the future.

‘Of course Griezmann will be able to leave at some point, the same way (Diego) Costa and Arda Turan were allowed to leave,’ he told L’Equipe.

‘I love my players a lot and I love to see them grow. I am not ungrateful.

‘If a player comes to me and says, ‘Coach, I have a once in a lifetime chance to play for a certain team, I want to leave’. If he did all he could for me as Griezmann does, I’ll say it’s no problem. I know that he needs to grow.

‘Of course Griezmann will be able to leave at some point, the same way Costa and Arda Turan were allowed to leave.’

Griezmann wrote in his autobiography that he would be open to a move to United.

‘It all depends on various factors. Manchester United is a possibility. I have nothing against England – except for the weather’.
