“I Can Marry A Man Who Has No Money” – Toby Grey

Featured Image

“Konibaje” crooner, Toby grey has revealed that riches in money is not the most important feature she is looking forward to in the man of her dreams.

While speaking in chat with Potpourri, Toby Grey posits that she can marry a poor man who has no money but rich in other areas.

In her words;

“You know a rich man can be poor in knowledge and money is not something that people cannot have. Knowledge or let me say commonsense is something that is really hard to acquire. If he is poor in commonsense, then it’s a NO but if he is poor in money, it doesn’t mean he can’t be rich in money. So, of course I can marry a poor man if he is very rich in every other thing,” she said.

Singer Toby Grey

The singer further stated that the consideration of what to look out for in partner depends largely on the goal of the relationship.

She said;

“If the partners are not in it for a long term relationship, then the goal is a bit dicey. If it’s not for the long term, many people will choose sex and money because it’s temporal. But if it’s for the long term and you are planning to get married to this person, then love is the most important thing because at the end of the day when everything fades, the only thing you will have left is the love and the friendship you started with.

I learnt that from my parents. At the end of the day, love fades but friendship remains. I even think you are missing something; it should be love, friendship, sex or money. Friendship is the most important thing to me,” she concluded.

“You Did Better Than Me In 2017? Come And Show Your Workings” Dalung Challenges Ministers

Featured Image
The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung in a brave speech has challenged his fellow ministers.

According to Dalung, he outperformed every other cabinet minister in 2017.

Solomon Dalung, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, has challenged fellow cabinet Ministers to a moderated public presentation of their 2017 scorecard.

According to him, there was no cabinet Minister who outperformed him in the preceding year. The Minister said this while giving a speech at an award event for the 2017 Retirees of the Ministry and athletes who won medals for Nigeria last year in Abuja.

“In 2017, if we are going to assess the performance of all Federal Ministries in Nigeria, the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development will come out tops.” He said.

“I am challenging any Minister with a record superior to my Ministry’s to come out and show Nigerians his record. There is none. I reiterate my challenge; let’s showcase our achievements before the public.”

“We qualified for the world cup for the first time in the history of Nigeria, with one match ahead. The qualification came without the usual presidential task force that used to gulp not less than seven billion naira; this means that the ministry has saved Nigeria from losing seven billion through that single effort.”

He went on to list some of the other sports that won medals in 2017 including Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Wrestling and Weightlifting.

“If we are to go by the medals that have been harvested in 2017, if we are going to attach monetary values to them, the contribution of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development through the various young athletes who have made the country proud, they would be so enormous.”

“One of the successes that remained indelible in my mind is the medal won by our Hockey team in Islamia, Egypt. Hockey in Nigeria has not participated in international competition for about 14 years. But in 2017, Nigeria competed and won bronze,” the Minister said.

The Minister also called for prayers for the Super Eagles regarding the upcoming FIFA World Cup to be played in Russia in June. “So many people, so many tacticians have been saying the farthest we went was the round of 16. I am very optimistic human being and in all my life, I have never competed with anybody and believe I will be defeated.” He added.

Lagos Employs 8,500 Street Sweepers

Featured Image

The Lagos State Government has during the weekend employed the services of at least 8,500 street sweepers under the new Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI) to keep the Lagos metropolis clean.

The State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, made this known at the Lagos House in Alausa, Ikeja after inaugurating the new Board of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) now to be headed by a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police as Corps Marshal, Daniel Isiofia,

Ambode was quoted as saying: “Another key aspect of the initiative is that it will create jobs. As we speak to you, we have employed over 8500 new street sweepers that are being deployed across the State and the target is 27,500. So, every part of Lagos will have street sweepers that are unique to them and live in their neighborhood.

“Once again, I want to reassure the people that we are on top of the issues here; we promise that you will see a marked improvement and we are totally committed to that. God helping us, we will deliver one of the cleanest cities in the world.”

Speaking on behalf of the governor, his Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh, said concerted efforts were ongoing to clear the heaps of refuse across the metropolis, and assured that there would be marked improvement in coming days.

He said, “We are all living witnesses to the restructuring we are trying to do in the environmental sector. That restructuring culminated in the introduction of CLI which is focused at ensuring that the way we clean Lagos is comparable to what is being done in first class cities in the world.

“As a result, we are changing the way environment in Lagos is being managed and to help us to achieve that, this Sanitation Corp is important. But more importantly now is to speak to the fact that yes, we are having some challenges in the area of waste management in Lagos today. We all live in Lagos but I want to reaffirm that we are doing everything to ensure that this becomes a thing of the past.”

Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez ‘Arrives At Manchester United For Medical’

Featured Image

Alexis Sanchez arrived on Sunday at Manchester United’s training HQ to seal his move from Arsenal, sources have told ESPN FC as his swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan edged closer.

The final details of the Chile international’s move to Old Trafford, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s transfer to Arsenal, were agreed on Saturday night.

The Chile international had earlier posted a video on Instagram, apparently showing him walking across an airstrip towards a private jet following reports that he was due in northwest England for a medical.

It is understood that Sanchez arrived in Manchester on Sunday to undergo a medical at Carrington and sign what is expected to be a four-and-a-half-year deal.

Sources also told ESPN FC that the agreement between United and Arsenal is a straight swap with no additional fee involved.

Sky Sports News reported that Mkhitaryan would have a medical in London on Sunday.

Chile’s Sanchez, 29, is set to become United’s best-paid player, with some reports putting his salary at £400,000 ($554,000) per week.

Sky Sports News showed Armenian international Mkhitaryan, also 29, at a central London hotel on Saturday evening alongside agent Mino Raiola.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and United manager Jose Mourinho both said they expected the two-way deal between the Premier League rivals to go through.

Wenger said Sanchez was absent from the Arsenal squad on Saturday because he was close to completing a deal that has been in the making since United out-bid Manchester City for the former Barcelona star.

“I expect soon or never,” Mourinho said after his side’s 1-0 win against Burnley. “I think it is so close, so close, so close that if it doesn’t happen it’s not going to happen.”

Jose Mourinho has given his players two days off following their 1-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Sanchez is in line to train with his new teammates on Tuesday before a debut against Yeovil in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday night.

He is expected to take United’s No. 7 shirt, vacant since Memphis Depay left the club a year ago.

Youths In Niger Delta Demand ‘Oil And Gas Colony’

Featured Image

Youths of Ijaw extraction under the auspices of the Niger Delta Youth Leadership Forum (PANDLEAF) have demanded that the federal government establish an oil and gas colony in the region.

The demand comes at a time when the Nigerian government had proposed colonies as a solution to the crisis between herdsmen and farmers.

The Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, had on Friday revealed that the colonies would take effect this week.

However, the youths from the nine states of the Niger Delta region said if the government wants colony for cattle, the Niger Delta people would also need colony for oil and gas.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Bayelsa state chapter of PANDLEAF in Yenagoa on Saturday, Richard Akinaka, President of the forum, said if herdsmen want land, they should pay for it as it is the practised all over the world.

“As a people, we have taken that position that herdsmen are private business people. Some of us who have private businesses, take private and personal responsibility to advance our business interests,” he said.

“If herdsmen want land and spaces to do their business, they should acquire them within any of the states and do their business as it demands the way it is done elsewhere all over the world where you have people get ranches for their cattle and people go there to buy cattle for consumption purposes.

“So, that is the best thing to do. Government does not need to buy land for a private businessman and all of that. But if that is what the government wants to do, we are asking for oil and gas colony for our people too.

“We should be given extra reserve right to take full responsibility of our oil and gas industry because that is our area, that is our environment.

“We suffer environmental problems. So, if they want colony for their cattle, we want colony for our oil and gas business.”

Last Wednesday, the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) had announced its plan to resume deadly attacks on oil installations and facilities in Nigeria’s oil-rich region.

However, Akinaka said that instead of threats, the people of the Niger Delta region should engage in intellectual struggle in advancing agitations against wrong government policies rather than resorting to old-fashioned idea of armed struggle.

He continued: ”We strongly believe that the time for armed struggle is over. Life is in phases and so should our struggles be. We must be able to advance our agitations beyond that to the high grounds of intellectual and constructive engagement.”

“We should redirect our energy to advance a common regional fronts in an intellectual manner that will cause people to respect and listen to us. But sometimes, when you see the thing government does, to the shallow-minded, the best thing to do is to go the way of the gun because there are things that are going on that are not right.”

“You see what our host communities are going through, the environmental problems, the Ogoni clean up that has been promised our people, nothing is going on. An impatient mind may say, we must resist these things, they are not right, but our advice to our people is to avert war.”

“War does not solve problem. We have passed through that stage of life, let us see how we can provide leadership and see how we can adopt internationally acceptable standards and advance the cause of our people, that is the stage we are in now.”

“Indeed, we have a cause. One of the greatest problems we have is leadership failure. Our leaders have failed us at different times and one of the reasons is lack of cohesion and unity among them. So, we need that cohesion, we need that unity and synergy to ensure that we are facing government and international oil companies with a common cause.”

Why I Stand With Buhari – Femi Adesina

Why I Stand With Buhari, By Femi Adesina

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

These are very difficult times in our country. Sad, mournful and dolorous times, as the New Year opened with killings in Rivers, Kaduna, Taraba, and Benue States, among others. Of course, there had been gruesome carnage on the Mambilla plateau mid last year, and bloodletting in Numan, Adamawa State, as well as in other places. Hell suddenly seemed to have enlarged itself against Nigeria. Sincere condolences to those who are grieving and mourning the loss of loved ones.

But instead of finding solutions, and joining to chart the way forward, some people are making political capital out of the killings. They are trying to use the orgy of bloodshed to advance their political interests, wanting to make it appear that it is a failure of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

Faults are thick where love is thin. There is prejudice in Nigeria. Plenty. There is insularity, in prodigious quantity. There is animus, antipathy against anyone that is not of your ethnic or religious stock, or that belongs to a different political orientation or persuasion. If you meet him, kill him; if you can’t catch him, poison his footsteps, seems to be the singsong among some people. And as the build up to general elections next year gathers momentum, matters are made worse. Everything must be politicised, including wanton killings. There must be spurious handshakes across the Niger, and across the Benue, all for political gains.

But I stand with Buhari, and will always do. Why won’t you? Your snout is in the honeypot, licking the nectars of office, some cynics would say. Really? My bank balances do not indicate so. It is not just about money. It is about conviction. It is about believing in a man who can bring enduring change to our country, if we allow God to have His way through him.

Standing with Buhari through thick and thin is not about money, or the spoils of office, which are not even available in these lean times. In or out of my present position, I stand with Buhari. Sir Walter Scott wrote: “Other people’s resolutions may fluctuate on the wild and changeful billows of human opinion. Ours, now and forever, are anchored on the Rock of Ages.” In or out of government, I stand with Buhari. Why? You will get to know shortly. There is a strident attempt to defame, demean and de-market the Buhari government today. Who are those behind it? The crooks, thieves, freeloaders, who want business as usual. They hate probity. Their souls abhor accountability. They prefer the plunder of the past years, and can’t wait to see that epoch return. They engage in all sorts of misinformation and disinformation. Hate speeches. Fake news. Under us, you had leeks, onions and garlic to eat. You were fed manna till you wanted no more. When you were tired of the fluffy stuff, we gave you meat, you gorged yourself so much, till meat began to come out of your noses. They wouldn’t tell you about what William Shakespeare calls “the goodly apple, but rotten at the cheek.” They won’t tell you about humongous amounts of money made from oil, which stood at over $100 dollars per barrel for about six years, and which they looted to the last cent. Foreign reserves; depleted. Excess Crude Account; looted. Federation Account; plundered. They turned the country to a wasteland, leaving an economy primed for recession. But deftly and sure-footed, the Buhari administration is building a new foundation for the economy, erecting an edifice that will stand the test of time, not a bubble that collapses with just a pinprick, not a will-o-the-wisp that vanishes in the midday sun.

That is why I stand with Buhari, and have stood with him since he was a military leader in the 1980s. I can trust this president. I can go to bed, knowing that my leader is not striking deals to fleece the country in the dead of night. I can trust that every money that comes into the coffers of Nigeria, will be used for the good of Nigerians. Am I saying it is a perfect administration? Such has not been forged from the smithy of the divine powers. Every human enterprise will have its shortcomings, but on Buhari I still stand. I stand with him, and by him, any day.
Some people ask themselves: Can we afford to be outside government for another four years from 2019? We would be dead! No access to the public treasury, which we know how well to abuse and plunder? To ravage and savage. They have spat into the sky, and collected the spittle with their faces. Rather than let Buhari be, we would employ all the tricks in the books. Defame, demean, de-market him. Is he not Fulani? He is supporting herdsmen causing murder and mayhem round the country. Trumpet it from the rooftops, even without a scintilla of evidence. He is sectional, and bent on Islamising the country. He is fighting a one sided anti-corruption war. His war against insurgency is a fluke, not winnable.

They refuse to see massive investments in infrastructure, which would burst into full bloom in another year or two. Roads, rail, power. They refuse to see the rebounding economy, strides in agriculture and mining, all with good auguries for the future. They refuse to acknowledge the stock market, which recently recorded N15.78 trillion, the highest in the history of the country. What of N1.3 trillion spent on capital projects in 2016? And almost the same amount for 2017? No, they rather imagine how much of that amount they would have pocketed if they were in power, living in obscene luxury, while the rest of the country went to hell, if it wanted. They refuse to see the good things happening to the country. And none is as blind as those who deliberately refuse to see. All these and more are the reasons I stand with Buhari, and will always do. So that Nigeria can have a future and a hope. Our own Canaan, flowing with milk and honey.

After primitive fury was unleashed in Benue, and about 73 people were left dead, a sitting president eyeing reelection could also play politics with it, visiting and muttering the right words to impress the people. Nothing wrong. But for President Buhari, action speaks louder than words. Action stations, he told the security agencies. The deputy inspector general of Police in charge of Operations was first despatched, then the minister of Interior, the inspector general of Police himself, and then the Nigerian Army. Consultations were held with the governor of the State, with Benue elders, and now, a committee headed by the vice president, made up of nine governors, has been set up to proffer solutions to farmers/herdsmen clashes. Action truly speaks louder than words.

President Buhari has not thrown his hat officially into the ring for a second term in office. But they are in mortal fear of him running. Therefore, they do all they can to dissuade him. Malign him, paint him black, devalue him before the electorate. But they don’t know that there are many devices in the hearts of men, but only the counsel of God shall stand. If God has ordained President Buhari to be in power beyond 2019, human effort to stop it can only end in futility.

I stand with Buhari, because it is solid ground for Nigeria. All other ground I see, at least for now, is sinking sand. For us, for our children, for generations yet unborn, Buhari is engendering a new country, whose builder and maker is God. Let the wailers wail; endlessly. Let the heathens rage; till they render themselves hoarse. Let them throw even the kitchen sink at him, they did worse in the build up to 2015. I stand with Buhari. I know his heart for Nigeria, and for Nigerians. Let people shed their prejudices. Let them eschew hate, and purge themselves of all malice. The future can only then be written in gold.

Taraba Warns Of ‘Imminent’ Militia Attack As Helicopter Loaded With Arms Lands Wukari

Featured Image

There are strong indications that a helicopter suspected to be loaded with arms and ammunition has landed in a village called Jibu, located along River Benue, near Ibi, in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State on Saturday night.

Speaking with The Punch, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Darius Ishaku on Media and Publicity, Mr. Bala Dan-Abu, disclosed that the arms and ammunition were allegedly meant for a militia group that might have been planning an attack on Taraba villages.

He was quoted to have said: “This system of arms delivery was used prior to the tragic attacks in Agatu communities in Benue State last year, which led to the killings there.

“When it was reported, nothing was done to trace and arrest the owners of the helicopter.

“That strategy works for them in Agatu and they are using it again today.

“This may be another planned militia attacks on the people of Taraba in the offing.”

In confirmation to what Dan-Abu said, a member representing Wukari II Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Josiah Aji, told the news outlet that he was aware of the development.

Aji said he has since contacted the chairman of Wukari LGA, Hon. Daniel Adi, to be on the alert, while urging the security agencies to launch investigation into the allegation.

When contacted, the Executive Chairman of Wukari LGA, Hon. Daniel Adi, said he was still gathering intelligence on the issue and that he has sent his surveillance team to the area and will get back to our correspondent with detailed report.

But a resident of Jibu revealed that a helicopter had landed in the village in the night, but that the mission of the helicopter had not yet been ascertained.

“There was rumour recently that arms were being ferried across River Benue in the area to Banteje, a town along Wukari-Jalingo road, but I cannot confirm to you whether a helicopter landed in our village or not, because I have been in Wukari town for the past two days,” the resident said.

Another resident of Jibu who simply gave his name as Ahmed told our correspondent that he was not aware of any helicopter landing in the village.

“If a helicopter landed here, it will not be hidden, given the noise associated with helicopters. Maybe I was asleep when when the helicopter landed,” he said.

Reacting to this, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP. David Misal, dismissed the information as a mere rumour and cautioned against spreading “fake information” on the social media.

“For now, the information remains a mere rumour, but we have our men there. As soon as we have further information about the issue, I will get back to you,” he said.

Guardiola Wants 30 More Points

Featured Image

Pep Guardiola has set a target for his squad as the season winds down, as he wants thirty points from their next 14 matches.

Manchester City recovered from their first ever domestic loss, losing 4-3 to Liverpool last week, by beating Newcastle 3-1 to restore a 12-point lead.

Guardiola is now asking for 10 more wins from his squad as he looks to secure the PL title this season.

“Always after the defeat against Liverpool, you have a little bit of doubt how you would react – what would happen if you went two games in a row not winning,” he told a news conference. “That’s why it was so important.

“We need mathematically 10 victories to be champions. We are going to try to win game by game.”

Klopp: Liverpool Will Never Sell To A Rival PL Club

Featured Image

Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool will never sell a star player to a rival club mid season, the way Arsenal and United are doing.

Sanchez is set to join Manchester United from Arsenal this month, with Mkhitaryan going the other way.

The deal does not sit right with Klopp, who insists Liverpool will never do such a thing in January.

“No Liverpool player of this squad would leave – and not just because we say it but because of their commitment to the club,” he told UK newspapers.

“No-one would leave to any other Premier League club during the season.

“I’m not just confident of that – I know it. It is just impossible. No player who is here will say, ‘OK, come on, in the middle of the season I go there or there.’ I really cannot see that situation.”

In a chat with Saturday Beats, Phenom revealed that he had to quit music after the expiration of his contract with Knight House. He admitted to have received various mouth-watery offers from bigger record labels while still with Knight House but he had to remain loyal to his record label at that time.

Phenom who apparently had no regret for being loyal to his former label said;

“When Wizkid told me about signing me to his record label, Starboy, I was with a record label then, Knight House. I think loyalty is very key and I cannot leave where I am because of greener pastures. It does not work like that. It is just like a marriage; just because you see a finer lady tomorrow does not mean that you should abandon your wife.

“There is enough space in the sky for all birds to fly. That Wizkid is doing very well now does not mean that I would not succeed in my career. There is no competition between us. Being on Wizkid record label would have been a great platform for me but what is mine would get to me.

“I have no regrets not signing with Wizkid. I had a contract with Knight House; I made sure that I fulfilled my obligation despite how tough things were there. Mo’Cheddah was with them as well but she left at a point. It was really tough for me from the beginning of my contract till when it ended because I was on my own.

“There were no videos for our hit songs because there was no fund. I had several record labels that approached me and at a point, I had a deal worth over N100m, but I turned it down. While growing up, my mother always told me that loyalty was important in life. It was not only Wizkid that wanted me on his record label; Olamide’s record also. There were a lot of deals that I turned down; not because I did not want to seek greener pastures, but loyalty meant a lot to me. My decision affected my career adversely, but I am sure that in the long run, it would pay off and I would not regret it. I am not hungry; I am not moved by material things. I am very happy for Olamide and Wizkid, but at the end of the day, it only takes one song for someone to be big again. I just need to be more hard-working.”

Now signed on to Trick Billionaire MusiQ, the rapper expressed his intentions to give other rappers a run for their money.

“At a point, I quit music but the owner of this record label, Prince Usinefe, has always been a friend. I only told him about an investment and he approached me with a recording deal.

“He insisted that I join his record label and I eventually agreed. The record label used to be known as Kash Kamp Trick Billionaire MusiQ but it has rebranded and changed its name to Trick Billionaire MusiQ. This change and rebranding came weeks after we parted ways with Yung6ix,” he said.
