Courtois: The Players Are With Conte

Featured Image

Thibaut Courtois insists Chelsea players are not staging a revolt against Conte, and are with him.

Antonio Conte is under pressure at Chelsea, following two consecutive heavy losses.

And despite reports of Conte losing the dressing room and support of Abramovich, Courtois insists they are with him.

Courtois has, however, suggested that the Chelsea squad remain fully supportive of their boss, telling the club’s official website: “We had some good games, a lot of draws and two losses and we have to find our form from before the new year again, and hopefully it will get better.

“We believe in him [Conte] and we believe in our team.

“We have two bad results and we just try to get back, regroup and just continue.

“We showed that we wanted to fight even with 10 men [in a 4-1 defeat to Watford] and that shows we have character, but when you lose twice like that it is not good and there are questions raised, but we go back to training with the manager, and training well and turn this situation around.

“Obviously we are disappointed with the two results we have had in the last week, obviously it is not good but we have to regroup in training, have heads high and continue the hard work and just continue what we were doing.

“We have now two bad losses but we are a team with the manager, and everyone is positive about that, and we will try to do our best to win next week.”

Azpilicueta: Chelsea Will Recover From Setback

Featured Image

Cesar Azpilicueta is certain Chelsea will recover from their current setback, as he is sure they will return to winning ways.

Chelsea lost 4-1 to Watford, playing an abysmal game, as Bakayoko was sent off inside 30 minutes.

That loss was preceded by a 3-0 thumping at the hands of Bournemouth. And Chelsea now sit fourth and one point ahead of Tottenham.

“We are Chelsea, a big club – and when we lose one game it’s a bad time for us,” Azpilicueta told the club’s official website after a humbling defeat at Vicarage Road – Chelsea’s first loss to Watford in any competition since 1999.

“Obviously to lose two in a row is even worse but I’m sure this team will fight back. We have three targets to go for and we have a massive three or four months ahead of us.”

“Of course it’s very difficult to take, we’ve had two heavy defeats and obviously we are really disappointed. It’s a massive setback for us.

“Against Bournemouth, in 15 minutes we conceded three goals and in that period when we are bad we need to try to manage and pass through the time in the best way possible.”

“I Didn’t Recognise Us Or Myself. It Was Abysmal” – Gary Cahill

Featured Image

Chelsea captain Gary Cahill has insisted the players are to blame for their poor form not coach Antonio Conte.

Antonio Conte’s job is under real threat following a woeful 4-1 defeat at Watford on Monday.

It has left the reigning champions 19 points behind leaders Manchester City and just one ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham.

Cahill admits he hasn’t felt as low this term, but urged the club to stand by Conte.

He said: “Whatever is decided, the players have to take responsibility. The manager has done an absolutely unbelievable job.

“This is the worst I’ve felt for quite a while. Performance-wise, I didn’t recognise us or myself. It was abysmal.

“We just need to keep strong. I’ve been here before at this club – it’s about staying calm. It hurts a lot when you come off after a performance like that.”

Thibaut Courtois also maintains the players want Conte to see out the remaining 18 months on his contract.

Naira Trades At 363/Dollar As CBN Injects $210m Into Forex Market

Featured Image

The Nigerian naira on Monday, February 5, recorded a marginal gain at the parallel market, trading at 363 per United States dollar, up from 364/dollar on Friday.

In recent weeks, the local currency has been trading between 362/dollar and 365/dollar.

Financial experts have said that the naira is likely to remain stable against the greenback this week as demand for the US currency weakens whenever the unit trades below 360 per dollar.

Foreign exchange traders said most forex users were not willing to source dollars weaker than N360 at the Investors & Exporters FX window and that offshore investors had been buying local debt in search of yields, boosting liquidity on the currency market, Reuters reported.

On the official market, the naira was quoted at 305.70, supported by the Central Bank of Nigeria’s regular intervention.

Meanwhile, the CBN injected another sum of $210m into the inter-bank foreign exchange market on Monday.

The regulator has injected over $500m into the forex market last week.

Figures obtained from the CBN on Monday indicated that it offered $100m to authorised dealers in the wholesale segment of the market, while the Small and Medium Enterprises segment received the sum of $55m.

Customers requiring foreign exchange for invisibles such as tuition fees, medical payments and Basic Travel Allowance, among others, were also allocated the sum of $55m.

The bank’s Acting Director, Corporate Communications, Mr. Isaac Okorafor, confirmed the figures, adding that those who made bids in the wholesale window would receive value for the bids on Tuesday.

Okorafor reassured the public that the bank would continue to intervene in the interbank foreign exchange market in line with its quest to sustain liquidity in the market and maintain stability.

Mariano Diaz insists he has no regrets over leaving Real Madrid in summer to join Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyonnais.

The Dominican Republic born striker has been in fine form this season, netting 16 goals for the French giants following his €8m summer move from Madrid.

“I’m very happy at Lyon and I feel I have improved a lot in France,”Mariano Diaz told Diario AS.

“Obviously I have scored goals but there is more to my game, but the most important thing is to help the team and continue our strong form.

“I don’t regret leaving Madrid, it was a decision I took after talking to Zinedine Zidane and the president, while Lyon gave me the opportunity to play regularly and score goals.

“Zidane informed me that Lyon would be a good opportunity with Lacazette leaving and they are a great club in a good league, his advice was helpful.

“What I needed was first-team football and more confidence, to demonstrate my ability and potential to play at the top level.

“It’s more difficult if you are not playing, but at Madrid I learned a lot from the best in the world and that benefitted me, every training session was good for me.”

West Ham Continue To Back David Moyes Despite Exit Rumors

Featured Image

West Ham have denied newspaper reports that David Moyes is unlikely to remain at the club beyond the end of the season, regardless of whether or not he secures Premier League survival.

A statement insists a decision on Moyes’ future will only be made at the end of the current campaign and that the Scot, in the meantime, has the “full support” of the Hammers board.

A spokesman said: “The Club would like to place on record that it categorically refutes the claims made by the Daily Telegraph regarding manager David Moyes.

“There is absolutely no truth whatsoever to this story. As previously stated on a number of occasions, the Club and David Moyes agreed a deal until the end of the 2017/18 season, at which point both parties will sit down and discuss the future.

“Until then, the Board and David Moyes will continue to work closely together with the Manager having full responsibility of footballing matters and the full support of the Board. Everyone’s sole focus is on trying to achieve results for West Ham United.”

Riyad Mahrez Continues To Remain Absent From Leicester City’s Training

Featured Image

Riyad Mahrez has once again missed Leicester City training today, as his dispute with the club shows no sign of ending.

The whole of the Leicester squad was given yesterday off, but they returned to training today – without their talismanic winger.

It means the Algeria international has missed four sessions and two matches as a result of his anger at failing to get a £60m move to Manchester City on Deadline Day.

It’s unclear whether Riyad Mahrez has been given permission from the club to miss this latest session, or whether he is still refusing to attend.

Mahrez is said to have a fragile mental state following the collapse of his dream move and the PFA have offered assistance in the matter.
Manager Claude Puel said on Friday that the Algerian had been given some time off to clear his head, and they would re-integrate him into the squad when it’s appropriate.

Netherlands Appoint Ronald Koeman As New Coach

Featured Image

Netherlands have appointed former Everton and Southampton manager Ronald Koeman as their new head coach.

The 54-year-old has been out of work since being sacked by Everton in October, while the Netherlands have been without a manager since Dick Advocaat stepped down in November following the country’s failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Ronald Koeman will become the Netherlands’ fourth boss since Louis van Gaal stepped down after leading the country to a third-place finish at the 2014 World Cup.

Koeman, who won 78 caps and scored 14 goals as a player from 1982 to 1994, served as Guus Hiddink’s assistant with the Dutch national team at the 1998 World Cup.

Nigerian Senate Wants FG To Ban Advertisement, Sales Of Tobacco Near Schools

Featured Image

The Nigerian Senate has called on the Federal Ministries of Health, Education and Information to ensure the comprehensive prohibition of Tobacco Advertising Promotion and Sponsorship such as cigarette advertisement within 100 metres of all schools.

Governor Okorocha Bans Sale Of Indian Hemp, Smoking In Imo State

The Senate’s resolution was sequel to a motion on “the Need to Immediately Ban Tobacco Companies from Targeting School Children in Nigeria” sponsored by Sen. Oluremi Tinubu (APC-Lagos), at plenary on Tuesday.

Other resolutions include that the Ministry of Health and other relevant enforcement agencies should ensure the “comprehensive prohibition of Tobacco Advertising Promotion and Sponsorship; work with other agencies to ban advertisement and location of Point of Sales (POS) of tobacco products within 100m of all schools; create a framework for the monitoring of the implementation of the ban on single sticks and cigarette packs with less than 20 sticks as detailed in the National Tobacco Control Act 2018.

While speaking on the motion, Mrs. Tinubu expressed worry at a deliberate act by tobacco companies to position adverts and signs within 100 metres of schools to stimulate children and youth into early interest in the use of tobacco products.

She noted that a survey carried out by Nigeria Tobacco Research Group in five states across four geopolitical zones, unearthed the location of Tobacco Products Point of Sales within visible distance of schools.

“Several distances were being 100m or less away from schools.

“Some of the affected schools with regard to distance from tobacco products Point of Sales include Kings Secondary School, Agbanni Road, Enugu 37m; Mother Care International Nursery and Primary School, Nasarawa, 13m.”

Others were Danbo College, Challawa Road, Kaduna, 12m; lqraah Primary School, Ode-Aje, lbadan, 14m; Agidingbi Junior Grammar School, Lagos, 20m; Herbert Macaulay Primary School, Yaba, Lagos, 2m; and Aguda Community High School, Aguda-Surulere, Lagos, 10m.

She said that this was contrary to the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and the National Tobacco Control Act, 2018.

According to her, the Act is aimed at the prevention and substantial reduction of accessibility of tobacco and tobacco products to young people.

The motion was seconded by Sen. James Manager (PDP-Delta) and Sen. Buhari Abdulfatai (APC-Oyo).

In his remarks, the Deputy President of the Senate, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over plenary, said minors needed protection.

“They are not in a position to make informed decision. I believe that the Tobacco Control Act has made adequate provision on how to protect the younger ones against some of the smoking-related problems.”

He, thereafter, called on the ministry to ensure compliance with this law.

BREAKING: Buhari Refuses To Sign 3 National Assembly Bills

President Muhammadu Buhari has written the Senate, refusing to grant presidential assent to three bills recently passed by the National Assembly.

The bills are the establishment of Police Procurement Fund, Chartered Institute of Public Management of Nigeria bill and Nigeria council for social work establishment bill.

In a letter read by the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, on Tuesday, Mr. Buhari gave reasons for rejecting the bills.

The letter reads, “Presidential decision to decline assent to three bills recently passed by the national assembly in 2017.

“Pursuant to sections 58(4) of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, I hereby convey to the senate, my decision on 25th of January 2018 to decline presidential assent to three bills recently passed by the national assembly namely:

“A. Police procurement fund establishment bill 2017. Due to lack of clarity, regarding the disbursement of funds as well as constrainant issues regarding the powers of the national assembly to appropriate funds allocated to the 36 state governments and 754 local governments which conflicts with sections 80-82 and 120-122 of the 1999 constitution as amended.

“B. Chattered institute of public management of Nigeria bill 2017. Due to lack of clarity over the scope of the profession of “public management”, that this bill prohibits all persons who are not members of the institute from practicing.

Magu Says EFCC Recovered Over N511.9 Billion In 2017

Featured Image

The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has disclosed that the anti-graft agency recovered stolen funds totalling N511.9 billion in 2017.

Magu made this known on Monday when he appeared before a budget defence session organised by the House of Representatives committee on financial crimes.

The committee yesterday was chaired by an All Progressives Congress member from Ogun State, Mr. Kayode Oladele.

According to him, the agency, between January and December 2017, recovered more than N473.065 billion, $89,258,124.97, £294,851.82, €7,247,363.75, 443,400 dirhams and 70,500.00 South African rand.

Speaking further, he told the committee that final forfeiture of N32bn and $5m recovered from the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, had been secured for the Federal Government.

He added, “Recovery and final forfeiture of N449m discovered at Legico Plaza in Victoria Island, Lagos. Final forfeiture of $43m discovered in the Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos; recovery of over N329bn from petroleum marketers by the commission’s Kano office; withholding tax recovery of over N27.7bn from banks; recovery of over €6.6m from the Nigerian Port Authority; recoveries of about N1.1bn on behalf of AMCON and recovery of subsidy fraud of over N4bn.”

He also said the breakdown of the total recovery has been sent to the National Assembly.

While briefing the committee on EFCC’s performance of the 2017 budget as well as its proposed 2018 budget, Magu said:

“A major challenge in the implementation of the capital estimates is the late and insufficient release of funds appropriated.

“Presently, funds have not been released for the furnishing of the new head office complex expected to be handed over by March 2018. We need the committee’s intervention in that regard.”

Egotistical Senate Versus Hameed Ali And The Rest Of Us

Egotistical Senate Versus Hameed Ali And The Rest Of Us, By ‘Fisayo Soyombo

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

Big egos are a big part of the human nature. As man is naturally a political animal, egos are a big part of politics. Outside politics, egos are in high supply. In board rooms and the rest of the corporate world, for example, ego clashes are fueled by intellection and the contestation of ideas — by the unwillingness of a first-grade intellectual to think anybody else can possess a superior idea to his or her’s. The basis for this ego, though no less destructive, is understandable. But there’s a very caustic, fetid kind of ego — the one motivated by money and power. In the Nigerian Senate, there is an abundance of it. Twice last week, a couple of senators supplied the evidence.

This piece was written by Fisayo Soyombo. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of

Let’s start with the latter. On Tuesday, a security aide of Abiodun Olujimi, a PDP senator representing Ekiti South (also the deputy minority whip of the Senate), ordered her aide to slap Kingsley Oti, a National Assembly staff, specifically the provost of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN). An account of the incident by both parties identifies the cause of the clash as the attempt by Olujimi’s aides to bar Oti from entering an elevator reserved for senators. Whereas Olujimi should have reprimanded his aide for slapping Oti (who wasted little time in returning the favours), she instead dragged him away from the scene by grabbing his shirt by the buttons. Shambolic public display of power.

Who, by the way, are senators that staff of the National Assembly cannot share elevators with? Some gods that must be worshipped or demi-gods in whose presence mere mortals must cringe in fear? Is Olujimi no longer one of those public office aspirants who, every four years, beg Oti and the rest of us for votes — well, in addition to vote buying and stealing? By separating their own elevators from those used by staff and visitors to the National Assembly, the senators take us more than six decades back to the era of racial discrimination in the United States, when coloured passengers were barred from occupying the whites-only section of public transportation vehicles, even if theirs was filled up and the whites’ had spaces unoccupied in their section. There is real cause for worry if in a democracy, the lawmakers consider themselves more important than the people who they were elected to serve.

Tuesday’s incident can be passed off as a classic case of the elephant (Olujimi) thumping the grass (Oti), but the previous day’s bears no such colouration. Five senators — Samuel Anyanwu (Imo East), Gilbert Nnaji (Enugu East), Hamman Isah Misau (Bauchi Central), Babajide Omoworare (Osun East) and ringleader Dino Melaye (Kogi West) — were at the headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), as members of the Ad-hoc Committee on Economic Waste in Customs. Rather than busy themselves with the ‘juicy’ matter of economic waste, the senators began the meeting by whining about how Hameed Ali, the NCS comptroller-general, was not standing at the entrance of the building to welcome them.

“Mr. CG, rather than meeting us here at the conference room, by way of courtesy, you were supposed to have met us at the ground floor on arrival into the premises,” Melaye, chairman of the committee, had said as the meeting commenced. “That has been the practice of statutory bodies headed by chief executive officers like you. Relevant Senate committees have over the years been accorded this by bosses of Immigration Service, Prison Service etc., making us to wonder why it is not so here today under your leadership… If this thing happens next time, we will stage a walkout.”

The retired soldier that he is, Ali took the battle straight to them, one notch higher in fact. “We have our own protocol as regards receiving visitors like you. I don’t need to come downstairs to receive you just as nobody in the Senate or House of Representatives has ever come out to receive us anytime we visit the National Assembly,” he said, before adding: “Let me state clearly that we in the Nigeria Customs Service are servants of the people. We believe in Nigeria and working with others to make it great without being railroaded in any way… On your assignment you called economic waste, we shall cooperate with you to unearth whatever you want to unearth and effect any correction if there is any.”

Angered by the return of fire for fire, the senators declined to take a group photograph with the Customs management at the end of the meeting, prompting the CG to abandon them in the conference room and block their bus at the gate of the premises with his convoy to ensure that it was him, rather than the lawmakers, who walked out on the other party. He ensured he held them up for at least 15 minutes after the meeting ended.

Ali’s eye-for-an-eye methods are somewhat questionable, but that sort of ridicule is what you get when the third estate of the realm continues overstretching its limits and fails to rein in its ego. In any case, the entire ‘economic waste’ probe is nothing more than a gluttonous peep into the Customs to see what ‘leftovers’ can be appropriated by the Senate. That was the practice before Ali’s appointment, that was the crux of the uniform-or-no-uniform saga of 2016/2017, that is why the Senate detests Ali, and that is why the Senate and the retired colonel will have to endure their cat-and-mouse relationship for at least another year.

The public conduct of these senators is a dead giveaway of their conduct in the hallowed chambers of the National Assembly and in private, when no eyes are watching. Little wonder we are still angling for the passage of the PIB — a four-set document with real potentials to revolutionalise the oil and gas sector — after 18 years, yet our lawmakers are more interested in the happenings in the NGO world and, with the NGO Bill, are desperate to enthrone an NGO Regulatory Commission that would wield suspicious powers as the “power to facilitate and coordinate the activities of NGOs (Section 7) — whatever that means, power to receive and discuss annual reports of NGOs (Section 8), power to provide policy guidelines to NGOs (Section 81c) and power to approve projects of NGOs (Section 26).

These ego-drunk legislators will take us nowhere. Unfortunately, we’re stuck with them for at least one year or probably longer.

#BBNaija 2018 Day 8: Big Brother Turns Things Up With Fake Nominations

Featured Image

Big brother decided to turn things up and raise the anxiety levels of the #bbnaija housemates by setting up fake nominations.

Biggie had the #bbnaija Housemates gather in the living room to await his instructions, unaware that the Nominations were just a joke. Big brother called on a representative from each pair into the Diary Room for them to decide in forty-five seconds who – not one, but two pairs for possible Eviction.

Soon enough, the representative of each pair stepped into the diary room and the nominations begun. Bitto who represented the Pritto pair nominated Bamteddy and K_Square. The pair of Loto was represented by Anto and they nominated Angelifu and K_Square without a blink for possible eviction from the #bbnaija house, despite the fact that Ifu Ennada liked her pretty much.

Up next was vandora who spoke on behalf of Van-Dee and they named Angelifu and dropped Loto upon hearing Biggie’s repeated instructions. Ahneeka took her time to think and exhaled before she finally chose Mina and Prito all the while tapping her fingers onto the chair’s edge.

Khloe on behalf of K_Square jumped at the occasion to vote Mina and Prito out as the dynamics between the three pairs are not particularly vibrant given Khloe’s dictatorial tendencies since being in the #bbnaija house.

When it got to the turn of Leo who represented Leolex, he could be seen biting his lips and nervously looking down before softly voicing Angelifu and Prito, as if he was betraying fellow #bbnaija Housemates. Then Biggie called Bamteddy, and Teddy A made his way to the room to declare K_Square and Mina has his choice for nominations for eviction.

Biggie’s fake nominations soon had Miracle walk into the diary room and on behalf of Mina, he chose K_Square and Angelifu. As for Angelifu, it was clear from Ifu Ennada’s awkward look that she was reluctant to drop the names of K_Square and Leolex.

The first nomination session in the #bbnaija 2018 house was rounded up by Head of House Tobi. On behalf of himself and Cee-C, he promptly suggested to biggie to let Prito and Loto go.

At the conclusion of the Nominations, Biggie named all the pairs up for Eviction. Upon hearing his name, K.Brule opened his eyes widely and uttered a swear word. He was obviously worried. The Mina pair looked down, while Britto slid into his chair and blew a kiss with his left hand to his fellow #bbnaija Housemates.

Then Big Brother called upon the reappointed Head of House, Tobi to use his veto to save and replace one of the pairs up for Eviction or risk forfeiting his immunity. In less than twenty seconds, and in the name of their budding bromance, Tobi chose to save Mina over Bamteddy.

We cant wait to see the surprise on the faces of the #bbnaija housemates when they discover that the nominations are fake.

“My Original Statement Still Stands,” IBB Insists As Police Declares His Aide Wanted

Featured Image

Former military president, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), has confirmed that his earlier statement in which he was said to have advised Nigerians to endure with President Muhammadu Buhari until his tenure ends — but vote for a new generation of leaders in 2019 “still stands.”

The former dictator, who ruled Nigeria from 1985 to 1993, said this while speaking exclusively to ThisDay Newspaper.

Babangida’s avowal is coming on the back of the controversy that trailed the statement following another statement purportedly issued by him, in which he allegedly denied the earlier statement.

Babangida said the second statement was issued by friends and had nothing to do with him, but expressed concern that his initial statement issued by his media aide, Mr. Kassim Afegbua, had been misrepresented by the media.

According to him, what his statement titled, “Towards a National Rebirth,” emphasised was for a new breed of leadership to emerge through the electoral process, but was not intended to deny President Buhari his inalienable right to vote and be voted for in the 2019 elections.

He was emphatic that his statement did not counsel Buhari not to contest the 2019 elections as depicted by media houses in their headlines on Sunday.

His media aide, Afegbua, had also in an Interview with DailyTrust, insisted that the former military president approved the statement he issued, calling on Nigerians to vote out president Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

Afegbua stated that IBB has not denied the statement.

“The statement is in order. IBB did not hold any press conference in Minna. It was overzealous people that issued that statement of his denial. I wouldn’t issue any statement without his approval. Go ahead with the statement. I have spoken with him and he said he has not recanted the statement.”

  • Police IG declares IBB’s spokesman wanted

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has declared Afegbua wanted over the statement he issued on behalf of IBB on Sunday.

He ordered the arrest of Afegbua for “making false statements, defamation of character, and for an act capable of instigating public disturbance,” the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood said in a statement on Monday night.

It read, “The IGP has ordered the arrest of Kashim Afegbua for making false statements, defamation of character and for an act capable of instigating public disturbance throughout the country.

“He is therefore declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force and should report at the nearest police station anywhere he is in the country.”

#BBNaija 2018 Day 8: Nomination Fever Grips The Housemates

Featured Image

Perhaps it was as a result of the #bbnaija liveshows from the previous day, the paired housemates are beginning to plot, strategize and scheme.

The Cebi pair seem to be taking the scheming by heart as both Cee-C and Tobi could all of a sudden be seen mingling with other Housemates, trying to gauge what their plans were and chatting about their various strategies.

The truth or dare session that took place however seemed to throw a spanner in the works for this power couple, especially when Anto gave Tobi a lap dance causing Cee-C to throw a full blown performance.

It appears the little ahow will affect the previously strong alliance of this duo but both could be seen trying to hash and talk things through, perhaps as a means to get back to their power status.

The K_Squared pair made up of K.Brule and Khloe have somewhat been on some sort of rollercoaster of emotion since the #bbnaija party on Saturday night. While K.brulé appeared to want khloe, she kept giving him mixed signals and he later showed a very keen romantic interest in Anto which was blatantly shut down.

After the pair got a strike last night during the #bbnaija Live Show, Khloe seemed extremely unimpressed with him. Even though we all thought she was going to be the problem of the pair, things look to be the opposite at the moment.

Miracle has openly said that he thinks he will be the one to go home and when Cee-C asked him why, he said it was because of his partner. Despite the kissing and intimate moments, it aeems miracle has been playing Nina the whole time or is he?

Vandora and Dee-one spent the better part of the morning plotting in the garden and the tension and apprehension in the air could be felt. Dee-One also made his fears known as he admitted that he thinks he might be sent home because he “talks too much”.

For the Rineeka pair, the #bbnaija hoise was nothing but a scheme central on day 8. Ahneeka all but told Rico swavey that nobody really has his back. She said she is trying to protect him hence why she is not intimate with him.

She believes having a strong alliance means knowing your partners’ weakness and being their strength in weak times. She went on further to say that she would want them to remain unemotional when Nominating.

She thinks they should Nominate based on who brings out the worst in them and Rico suggested Dee-One to which Ahneeka disagreed because she has no issues with him despite his rejecting her.

With so much plotting and scheming going on due to the upcoming nominations, things are getting heated in the #bbnaija House. It seems all the housemates are beginning to realise that serious business is about to start.

Rooney: Kane Could Leave In Search Of Trophies

Featured Image

Everton man, Wayne Rooney believes Harry Kane could leave Tottenham, if they don’t win trophies.

The England international forward has made a name for himself as a lethal striker, and he is being sought by Madrid.

Kane has won back-to-back golden boot and tops the log with 22 goals, hitting a century PL goals with his goal against Liverpool.

“At the moment, he is probably the best striker in Europe,” Everton veteran Rooney told Sky Sports.

“He can go where he wants to, he’s that good. He is like a young Alan Shearer. He scores all different types of goals.

“The problem that Tottenham are going to have is that his motivation is goals, but his motivation is going to change from goals to trophies.

“And if Tottenham don’t win trophies in the next year, maybe two, he is going to want to move elsewhere to win trophies.

“That is a decision he is going to have to make in the next year or two, but Tottenham have also got to make a decision — bring more players in and have a real push to win the Premier League.”

Rooney added: “The goals are great, and they take you to a certain level. But the top players are remembered for the trophies they have won. The trophies take you on to that next level.

“I think if Harry Kane was in Man City’s team and was going to win the Premier League this season, people would be talking about Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Harry Kane.”

#BBNaija 2018 Day 8: Tobi Emerges As The Head Of House Again!

Featured Image

Tobi emerged as the head of the #bbnaija 2018 double wahala house for the second time in a row today during the challenge that was similar to football’s sudden death.

The task which was a quirky one was quite suitable for Tobi who is quite athletic and has stated that he is very passionate about football.

The Task to determine who became the head of the #bbnaija house for the second week saw the duo of Cee-C and Tobi going head to head against Bambam and Teddy A for the crown.

Despite the fact the big brother required the presence of all the #bbnaija housemates, they all showed up but appeared unenthusiastic and uncheerful as Cebi and BamTeddy battled for top spot.

Notwithstanding the lacklustre attitude of the other housmates, the qualified housemates battled it out. They were given only 60 seconds each to score a goal and Tobi made his mark within about 30 seconds. Teddy A came close a couple of times but couldn’t hit the mark and he has to wait for another time to relive his glory.

It was evident that Tobi was overjoyed and in cloud nine after emerging victorious for the second week running. The other #bbnaija housemates however didnt share in his enthusiasm.

All the other housemates simply gave half-hearted claps after big brother announced Tobi as the winner and the mood immediately dropped to a point where it was evidently awkward.

Alex could even be heard whispering under her breath that Tobi could see through his binoculars and had an unfair advantage. Big brother soon enough asked Tobi who he would choose to share the luxury bedroom with him and not surprisingly Cee-C was his girl, making Cebi the king and queen of the week.

On a different note, the #bbnaija housemates decided to Wager 50% for their Task presentation, with the theme being “Be Humble and Learn”. The week:s theme appears to be ironic given what happened last week. More so, the Housemates really need a win to their name, having lost last week’s Wager, and supplies are looking dismal in the House.

Perhaps the blatant dismay exhibited by the housemates is due to the fact that Tovi failed to lead them to victory the previois week or that Teddy A has become quite popular among his peers.

Whatever the case maybe, they sure need to get their acts together and leave behind the politics to prevent it affecting the social dynamics of the house.

We Deserved Our Victory Vs Chelsea- Gerard Deulofeu

Featured Image

Watford winger Gerard Deulofeu has claimed that the team deserved their victory over Chelsea.

Gerard Deulofeu, who joined Watford from Barcelona on a loan deal during last month’s transfer deadline day, scored in the team’s 4-1 win at Vicarage Road.

As well as finding the back of the net himself, Deulofeu won his team a penalty in the first half after getting clipped by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

“We are happy for these three points, the team fight at the beginning and we are worth this win,” the former Everton player told Sky Sports News. “I’m so happy for my first game at home.

“Daryl Janmaat gave me a good ball and I think it’s a clear penalty. [Courtois] touched me.. I think.”

#BBNaija 2018 Day 8: Record Breaking Housemates Participate In Truth or Dare session

Featured Image

Day 8 kicked off on a somewhat interesting note for the #bbnaija housemates as they had the first truth or dare session in the house.

While day 8 was practically a monday, the #bbnaija housemates spent the previous night and the early gours of the morning on the truth or dare. The activities of the previous night didnt however deter them from waking up early and getting their blood pumping in the morning workout.

One thing that is undeniable is the fact that this season’s #bbnaija Housemates are definitely on a record breaking spree. They are the first sey of houaemates to get punished barely hours of entering the big brother house and also losing their wager.

Add the classic super man stunt displayed b K.Brule that saw him jumping off the balcony and which awarded his tag team the first strike by biggie this season. All this has happened in about eight days and it is surely record breaking.

One thing that is however shocking is the lack of interest displayed by the #bbnaija housemates in the live shows. They absolutely dont put in much effort into their appearance, making them look unpresentable.

Day 7 in the #bbnaija house was more or less a ‘chill spot’ and this may be attributed to the fact that the housemates needed to recover from the Saturday night party. They also seemed to have been contemplating the previous week’s events and trying to strategise in their pairs.

Some were however interested in other things as Miracle and Nina could be seen in each others arms smooching and kissing. Cebi could also be seen strutting around looking glued to each other and BamTeddy getting their cuddle on.

For what its worth, the ‘truth or dare’ game was awesome and if there were to be awards for it, it would be the biggest winner. It literally looks like the #bbnaija Housemates saved the best for the very last hours of the day and brought their inner ‘nasties’ out to play.

The dares were very intense and the truths had the housemates spilling their innermost secrets. At the end of it all, a lot of egos were bruised and hope bubbles were popped. There were a lot of smooches and kissing too.

It was however not all gloom ,as it appeared like Cee-C heard and saw more than ‘her highness’ could handle during the game and shot off to bed angrily.

Tobi tried to get her to explain what was bothering her but he couldn’t drill it out of her, despite the effort he put in. Only time can tell where to from here with the nominations getting closer by the minute.
