Fast rising Nigerian artiste, Zlatan Ibile has made public his decision to hands-off any form of help to young “Chache” sensation, Segun Wire.

Recall, Zlatan Ibile discovered the helpless young Segun on the street after a video of him declaring his interest in becoming an internet fraudster surfaced online. In custody of Zlatan, Segun Wire has been getting help from fans and celebrities alike.

In a recent development, Zlatan was faced with controversies in a bid to help the young Segun Wire through his education, food, clothing and shelter.

However, the singer has shared his own side of the story through a lengthy post on Instagram.

He wrote;

ZLATAN WITHDRAWS HELPING SEGUN WIRE THE TRUE EVENT TO THE CONTROVERSIAL STORY ONLINE

On the 24th of February 2018 Zlatan Ibile decided to take a legal action against the family of segun wire, as the family use him as an extortion means of making money off the boy’s famous status (there is an actual proof of this event ,as segun wire was found sending a voice note extorting a well wisher of 85k there by framing Zlatan of not paying the present term school fees which in fact there is a receipt issued of the school that zlatan has payed since November last year )

So after reporting this incident to human rights authorities!! They decided to invite segun wire’s family in for questioning to hear from both sides but on getting to their house for invite with the two representatives of human rights for questioning they refused out of ignorance and decided to take law into their hands by molesting zlatan and his manager and as well chased away the two law representatives . Segun Wire’s mum stripped her self naked in framing Zlatan of beating her so the hoodlums would beat him and his manager! She also wen further to accuse Zlatan of collecting the some of 2million Naira from the likes of davido and Olamide Who they claimed has assisted segun wire with finance …. Further more Zlatan and his manger where dragged to an undisclosed camp of hoodlums for mobbing it took the intervention of the law enforcement to safe the situation there by arresting the culprits …. As it is the culprits are apprehended and segun wire’s family who instigated the entire event are being questioned for their actions and henceforth Zlatan ibile’s family has instructed him to desist from rendering kindness to the family of segun wire as they don’t appreciate the value so therefore Zlatan has officially withdrawn from the brand segun wire …

All evidence attached are School fees receipt for the said term segun wire family lied that Zlatan has not paid for the term which is false And secondly this is the video of Zlatan empowering segun wire’s mum with the sum of 50k to start a business in providing further for the family!! She squandered it and went back begging

#BBNaija 2018 Day 28: Love Bug Reigns Supreme In The House

Featured Image

The first pairing of the #bbnaija housemates carried out by big brother at the inception of season three gave birth to some fatal attraction that has led to housemates explicitly exploring the theme of love in the Big Brother House. After all, the Housemates are only human and being shut out of the external world for so long, they are bound to catch feelings and get attached to one another.

One of the #bbnaija housemates that has been trying her best to dodge catching the ‘feels’ bullet for a while now is Alex and this fact can be attributed to her age and fragility.

During one of her conversations with Leo, he asked her if they should ‘kiss’ now or do it after the #bbnaija show and she promptly told him that it was better they do it after. Fast forward to last night’s loved up scenes, it seems like she finally caught the bug as she sat comfortably on Leo’s back covered in a sheet.

While we might be wrong, it seems like the massage quickly turned into a kiss, the first and most certainly not the last kiss between the pair.

Nina and Miracle were the first pair to give us the first kiss of the season in the #bbnaija house and as always, their passionate display of affection had many of us drooling and probably digging up our former love interests.

The duo were locked in love and kisses; with Nina delivering most of the love jabs, probably marking her territory and reminding Miracle where home is and showing him that being with her is much better than any other #bbnaija housemate he could dream of

Bambam also has never been shy to put her feelings for Teddy A out there for everyone to see and day 26 was no different. She straddled her man, massaging him affectionately. After venting a couple of times because of him being too flirtatious, she has certainly managed to keep his attention locked on her.

Anto on the other hand remains pretty neutral and isn’t showing much emotion but she and Lolu cuddled up and shared body warmth. That seems to be a good start for the both of them, given the fact that there is still about 58 days to spend in the #bbnaija house if they both make it that far.

Tobi and Cee-C were also at it again. The off and on love birds definitely deserve an award for their roller coaster kind of love where they both seem to relish being caught up in the curves and declines.

Tobi made some deep declarations to Cee-C, assuring her of his feelings but, we can’t help but anticipate more curves and harder declines.

Whether strictly game related or not, the kisses, the cuddles and jealousy stunts officiate the couples in the #bbnaija House. They serve us romance dressed in chillingly sweet moments, sprinkled with drama. We wait to see if the love bug will be caught by Angel and Ahneeka.

Philippe Coutinho has become a Paris Saint-Germain transfer target as they look to keep Neymar out of Real Madrid’s clutches. The former Liverpool star is close friends with the PSG man and the Ligue 1 club believe signing Coutinho would ensure the world’s most expensive player remains in Paris for years to come.

PSG would be willing to offer Kylian Mbappe as part of any deal, with Neymar supposedly jealous of the French teenager. (El Pais)

Real Madrid want to make Vinicius Junior part of their first-team squad from next summer. The Brazilian had been expected to stay at Flamengo until the summer of 2019, but the La Liga side want to take him on their pre-season tour of America. If he impresses, he’ll stay part of the squad. If not, they’ll loan him out to another European side. (Marca)

Fernando Torres wants to stay with Atletico Madrid despite being left out of their squad for Sunday’s win over Sevilla. The forward has been linked with a switch to Dalian Yifang, but is unwilling to move to the Chinese club. Nico Gaitan and Yannick Carrasco are, however, likely to swap the Wanda Metropolitano for Dalian Yifang this week. (Marca)

Real Madrid’s first signing next summer will be Omar Mascarell. The former Real Madrid player has a clause in his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt which allows him to return to the Bernabeu for €4m (£3.5m). He is unlikely to stay with the Spanish side though as they believe they can sell the 25-year-old on for a much higher price. (AS)

Italy

Inter Milan haven’t scheduled a meeting for renewing Mauro Icardi’s contract despite the Argentine striker being a Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United transfer target.

The 25-year-old has a €110m (£96.5m) release clause his contract and the Nerazzurri want to increase it to €200m (£175m). However, they are yet to discuss a new deal as they are unhappy with Icardi’s wife and agent, Wanda Nara, talking about her husband’s future last week. (Gazzetta dello Sport)

Inter would want at least €80m (£70m) for defender Milan Skriniar. The Slovakian was subject of a €65million (£57million) bid in January, believed to be from Manchester City, and the Nerazzuri are braced for more bids in the summer. They are steadfast in their desire to keep Skriniar at San Siro. (Tuttosport)

Federico Bernardeschi could require surgery after picking up a knee injury in the win over Torino. He’ll be out for about three weeks, but if scans in that time aren’t encouraging, he may need surgery, which would keep the Juventus forward out for the rest of the season. (Gazzetta dello Sport)

France

After Neymar was taken off against Marseille, PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola admitted it was concerning. “I’m worried about Neymar,” he said. “His ankle was pretty swollen. He is an important player for us and I hope he will come back soon.” (L’Equipe)

Unai Emery, however, thinks Neymar should be ready for PSG’s second leg of their Champions League tie against Real Madrid. The PSG boss said: “We’re optimistic, we need a bit of patience. In regards of his participation in the match against Real, if I had to say yes or no, I would say yes.” (Le Parisien)

Featured Image

Press release: Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Monday signed the 2018 Appropriation Bill of the State into law with a total budget size of N1,046,121,181,680.00.

The Governor also signed two critical bills into law. They are the Consolidated Transport Sector Bill and the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission Bill.

The Transport Sector Law 2018 provides for the development and management of a sustainable transport system in the State, as well as development, management and maintenance of transport infrastructure and facilities within the State.

The law also regulates the provision of an efficient transport delivery system and ensures availability of a safe and affordable transportation system. It is hoped that with this law, an efficient integrated transport management system will evolve in the State.

On the other hand, the Teaching Service Commission Law 2018 provides for the control and management of teaching service matters in the State, and for connected purposes.

The law regulates and co-ordinates the management of teaching service matters and provides uniform guidelines for the effective management of Post-Primary Schools in the State.

Governor Ambode, while presenting the 2018 Appropriation Bill to the State House of Assembly, had pledged that his administration would make every effort to complete all ongoing projects as well as initiate new ones to consolidate on the development recorded in the last two and half years.

He said the budget, christened as “Budget of Progress and Development”, would be used to consolidate on the achievements recorded in infrastructure, education, transportation/traffic management, security and health sectors, among others.

Under the budget, there are provisions for completion of the five new Art Theatres; establishment of an Heritage Centre at the former Federal Presidential State House recently handed over to the State Government; a world class museum between the former Presidential Lodge and the State House, Marina; construction of four new stadia in Igbogbo, Epe, Badagry and Ajeromi Ifelodun (Ajegunle) and completion of the on-going Epe and Badagry Marina projects.

On Housing, there are provisions for completion of on-going projects especially those at Gbagada, Igbogbo, Iponri, Igando, Omole Phase I, Sangotedo and Ajara-Badagry under the Rent-to-Own policy, among others.

Also speaking, Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akinyemi Ashade put the projection for revenue (IGR) at N897billion, while the remaining part of the budget would be funded by deficit financing.

”Today is a good day in our State, the Governor just signed the 2018 Appropriation Law. For the first time the Law has about N1.046trillion as total amount that we would spend in 2018.

“The Budget is tagged “Budget of Progress and Development” and in terms of capital and recurrent expenditure, we have 63 per cent Capital and 37 per cent Recurrent and that shows that we are really big on infrastructural renewal.

“In terms of revenue, we are expecting a total of N897billion both from the State and Federal receipts, so the rest would be funded through budget deficit financing. We are focusing this year on completing all projects that we have started knowing fully well that people would say that this is an election year, but the Governor is focused on delivering the dividends of democracy; we are not slowing down, we want to really ensure that we touch every aspect of Lagos that needs to be touched in terms of infrastructural renewal, welfare and other things that the Governor promised,” Ashade said.

Imfura

Imfura

Imfura – Berlinale Shorts: Silver Bear Jury Prize

He wants to comprehend, to remember, but is instead forced to choose a side in a fight over an inheritance, a shell of a house. Berlin’s programme says, “The film’s hybrid form, its fusion of documentary and staged material, gives it a great sense of immediacy.”

Burkina

Burkina Brandenburg Komplex  – Berlin Short Film Nominee for the European Film Awards
Directed by German Ulu Braun, Burkina Brandenburg Komplex is set in a presumably African village, inhabited by Germans, and “describes a geographical construction that makes use of ‘our’ medial and collective image of Africa and puts it to the test,” according to Berlin’s programme.

Styx

Styx – Ecumenical Jury: Panorama Prize Winner; Label Europa Cinemas; the Heiner Carow Prize; & 2nd Place, Panorama Audience Award: Fiction Film

Kenyan teen actor Gedion Wekesa Odour shines as one of the refugees: Variety called his performance “superb” and The Hollywood Reporter praised him as a “find.” The Ecumenical Jury citation said Styx “discovers the biblical story of the Good Samaritan in the challenge the EU faces in the arrival of desperate immigrants from Africa. It is a film of high artistic quality, which tells a tale of suspense, and confronts us with the ethical dilemma that individuals and nations must face when we are asked, ‘Who is my neighbour?’”

Drinkwater: Chelsea Did Not Deserve To Lose

Featured Image

Chelsea midfielder, Danny Drinkwater believes Manchester United did not deserve to beat the Blues.

Conte’s men controlled proceedings and deservedly went ahead via a fine goal from Willian.

However, the equaliser came before the break from Lukaku. And United completed their comeback after the break via Lingard.

Drinkwater feels the loss was unfair to Chelsea and they deserved to get something.

“We definitely should have got something from the game,” Drinkwater told Chelsea’s official website.

“In the first half we were very dominant. In the second half it was a bit different, it was more even, but we didn’t deserve to lose that game, no chance.

“I don’t know the stats, but the first half felt good. Their goal came out of nowhere. We had a bit of confidence coming into the second half, but it didn’t go our way.

“It was more of a battle which suited them and took the game away from us.

“Football goes against you sometimes and it was one of those days. There are obviously bits we could have improved on, but we have to got to look forward and on to the next game now.

“It’s down to us. We have got to get our performances and our results in order and hopefully our position will look after itself.”

Usain Bolt Claims He’s Signed For A Football Club

Featured Image

Usain Bolt, says he has agreed to sign for a football club.

Usain Bolt, 31, retired from athletics last summer after a glittering career in which he won eight Olympic gold medals.

He has always spoken of his desire to play football once his sprinting career was over, and on Sunday he tweeted to say “I’ve signed for a football team! Find out which one this Tuesday at 8am GMT.”

Usain Bolt is a lifelong Manchester United fan, and was due to have a trial with Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund next month. He also trained with South African side Mamelodi Sundowns last month.

“It’s something that I want to do,” Bolt told the Daily Express in January. “In March we’re going to do a trials with Dortmund and that will determine what I do with that career, which way it goes. If they say I’m good, and that I need a bit of training, I’ll do it.

“It makes me nervous. I don’t get nervous but this is different, this is football now. It’ll take time to adjust but once I play a few times I’ll get used to it. It was the same when I started track and field. I was nervous for a while until I started getting used to the crowd, people and everyone around and it falls into place,

“One of my biggest dreams is to sign for Manchester United. If Dortmund say I’m good enough, I’ll crack on and train hard.

“I’ve spoken to Alex Ferguson and I told him he needs to put in a good word. He told me if I get fit and ready, he will see what he can do.”

Sevilla Manager Vincenzo Montella Won’t Change Approach Despite Atletico Madrid Trashing

Featured Image

Sevilla manager Vincenzo Montella insists he will not change his approach following Sunday’s embarrassing 5-2 defeat against Atletico Madrid.

It was the third match of Vincenzo Montella’s two-month stint in which his side have conceded five goals, following a 5-3 home loss to Real Betis and a 5-1 defeat at Eibar.

“I will not change and the team will not change,” Montella told reporters after the match, as cited by Marca.

We need to start scoring goals and to eradicate the defensive errors – we gifted Atletico two or three clear chances due to individual mistakes.

“During the game we lost confidence – our heads went down after the second goal and we cannot allow that to happen during games.

“Our first thirty minutes was the best we have played since my arrival but we could not score and then after that it became a very bad night.”

Black Panther Review: Black Power, Black Magic, Black Excellence

Featured Image

The action in Black Panther begins in Sambisa forest, a large swath of land mass that has been considered ground zero for the Nigerian army’s war on terrorist group Boko Haram.

Art is imitating life as some students have been kidnapped in what is clearly an ode to the missing Chibok girls. Sexy spy, Nakia- Lupita Nyong’o, all grace and smoothness, sinew and empathy- is on a mission, disguised as a victim, to hunt down these tormenters of regular black folk.

The titular hero, played with effortless grace by American actor, Chadwick Boseman is on his own personal mission. Accompanied by members of the Dora Milaje, his all-female team of formidable bodyguards led by the General, Okoye- a gloriously formidable Danai Gurira-, the Black Panther, recently bereaved, has come to take Nakia, his love interest home with him.

Chadwick Boseman reprises his role as T’Challa a fellow whom apart from moonlighting as the sleek suited up superhero, is actually the crown prince of Wakanda, a fictional, prosperous African country untouched by colonization.

The source of Wakanda’s wealth isn’t merely the absence of the white oppressive gaze though, Wakanda is powered by the world’s largest deposit of vibranium, a valuable natural resource that has been put to judicious use. Wakanda is an African utopia, a game changer, in that for once in a Hollywood mainstream film, an African country is depicted as a formidable power as opposed to the boring single stories of war and strife and violence.

Director Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Creed) was handed a 200 million dollar budget (unheard of for an African American director) by the hugely profitable Marvel studios to bring to life his vision of Black Panther, and of Wakanda. He went to town with it, creating a fictional world that is as lavish and spectacular as anything that has been depicted on film. Marvel isn’t a stranger to creating worlds- think the Thor and Guardian of the Galaxy films- but Mr Coogler’s Wakanda, is on a whole new fabulous level.

The breathtaking view from the top as T’Challa and his entourage break the wall that hides Wakanda from the rest of the world is merely a primer of what is to come. Coogler and his crew,- one that includes Rachel Morrison, the first woman to receive an Academy award cinematography nomination and veteran costumier, Ruth Carter, take a pan-African approach to imagining Wakanda and the result is a land that is both futuristic, yet deeply rooted in traditional African heritage.

There are high speed trains, bloodless surgeries and bracelets that act as more than fashion accessories, but the costumes, are influenced from all over Africa. Queen mother Ramonda (a regal Angela Basset) rocks a head gear that is inspired by the Southern Africa Zulu tribe. Forest Whitaker’s Zuri is clothed in Nigerian agbadas and T’Challa himself has his pick of various kaftans that could come from anywhere between Ghana and Mali. The women all rock natural hair in various glorious expressions- Okoye is incensed when she has to wear a wig as a disguise- and the River tribes wear lip plates similar to those worn by the Mursi and Suri of Ethiopia..

The Wakanda characters mostly speak Xhosa, an official language of both Zimbabwe and South Africa but to play the Jabari mountain tribe leader, M’Baku, scene stealer, Winston Duke leans into Nigerian Igbo. An early scene where all the five tribes of Wakanda come out on a rock, by a waterfall to watch T’Challa claim his crown after first going through a duel is expertly rendered that the production design and costume departments deserve automatic entries into the Oscar conversation next year.

T’Challa is soon forced to reckon with Erik Killmonger, an adversary that hits close to home. Because this is a Ryan Coogler film, this adversary is played by Michael B. Jordan. Jordan’s performance and Coogler’s complex writing of the character as a symbol for centuries of black oppression has inspired many sympathizers, some even going as far as naming him the ultimate Marvel villain.

Perhaps only a person of color could have directed Black Panther as realized by Mr Coogler. The film is an experience that doesn’t just celebrate black excellence or black pride or black magic, it plumbs the depths of the African American psyche and grapples with the angst of colonialism, slavery and institutional racism and lays the blame equally among the many sides.

Such percolation of ideas makes Black Panther the least basic Marvel movie yet. It entertains splendidly- one on one combat scenes, car chases, cutting edge technology, humor, plus the sheer pleasure of watching Gurira’s Okoye knock out a few men,- but the tensions are almost Shakespearean in their intensity.

Viewers across Africa have received the film with arms wide open, unsurprisingly so, but the ‘motherland’ isn’t quite the film’s primary audience. Strip away the elaborate dressings and the celebrations, and Black Panther is a story as American as pie.
