Russia Spy Poisoning: 23 British Diplomats Expelled From Moscow

Featured Image

Russia has announced the expulsion of 23 British diplomats as a row escalates with London over a nerve-agent attack on a former double agent, Sergei Skripal and his daughter on British soil.

The Russian foreign ministry said the UK staff would be expelled from Moscow within a week in response to Britain’s decision to expel 23 Russian diplomats.

The tit-for-tat expulsion follows after the poisoning of a former Russian spy and his daughter in London on March 4.

Skripal, 66, and his daughter Yulia, 33, were found unconscious on a bench outside a shopping centre in Salisbury, after they were poisoned with a military-grade nerve agent.

Russia also said it would close the British Council in Russia, which promotes cultural ties between the nations, and the British Consulate in St Petersburg.

Blaming Russia for the attack, the UK said it would dismiss 23 Russian envoys, the single biggest expulsion in more than 30 years.

UK’s Prime Minister Theresa May said on Saturday that Russia’s dismissal of the British representatives “doesn’t change the facts of the matter” of the poisoning.

“Russia’s response doesn’t change the facts of the matter – the attempted assassination of two people on British soil, for which there is no alternative conclusion other than that the Russian State was culpable,” May told her Conservative Party’s spring forum.

A former double agent, Skripal betrayed dozens of Russian agents to British intelligence before his arrest in Moscow in 2004. He was later sent to the UK in exchange for captured Russian spies.

Russia decided the British diplomats must leave Moscow within a week, its foreign ministry said on Saturday, after a meeting with Britain’s ambassador to Russia, Laurie Bristow.

Moscow also decided to close the British Council in Russia and to withdraw permission for Britain to open a general consulate in St Petersburg, the ministry said in a statement.

2018 UTME: JAMB Reveals When Results Will Be Ready As Exams End

Featured Image

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has urged its 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates to patiently await the results of the just concluded examinations.

Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Abuja, the Head of Media of the Board, Fabian Benjamin, disclosed that some of the results would be ready by Monday, March 19.

He said the board was working diligently to ensure that all the results are processed and posted on the board’s website soonest.

Mr. Benjamin said modalities were being put in place to ensure all the results are transparent and accurate.

He reiterated that the board was delaying some of the results because each has to undergo total scrutiny before being posted on its website to avoid cancellations later.

He also assured that all technical difficulties encountered in accessing the website were being addressed.

NAN reports that a number of candidates, who sat for the examinations earlier, were yet to receive their results.

While some said that they received the reply of “your results are not ready yet”, others complained that the site says “you did not register for this examinations.’’

NAN also reports that the examination, which was scheduled to end on Saturday, March 17, ended on Friday, March 16.

Rihanna’s Criticism Of Snapchat Sees Company Lose Close To $1 Billion

Featured Image

Remember when Rihanna tweeted “every tongue that rises up against me shall fall” back in 2012? You can’t say she didn’t warn Snapchat.

There are strong indications that Snapchat’s market value has dropped by almost $1 billion after Rihanna criticised the social media platform for making light of domestic violence.

On Thursday, the singer had slammed the company for an advert that encouraged users to either ‘Slap Rihanna’ or ‘Punch Chris Brown’.

Bear in mind that Chris Brown had pleaded guilty in 2009 to beating Rihanna during an argument while they were dating.

Later that year, he received five years probation and six months of community service.

However, the ad was greeted with a huge backlash among users, with Rihanna responding by slamming the app via her Instagram story.

She accused the service of “[spending] money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to domestic violence victims.”

“Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain’t my fav app out there! But I’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess!” the singer wrote. “I’d love to call it ignorance but I know you ain’t that dumb. You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and made a joke of it.”

She added: “Shame on you.”

The controversy has led to a 6 percent dip in the company’s stock as Snap shares plunged nearly 4 percent on Thursday, wiping out roughly $800 million from its market value, according to The Wall Street Journal and CNN, and during Friday, March 16, trading the stock slid another 1-2 percent.

Meanwhile, Snapchat said in a statement that they are “investigating how [the advert] happened so that we can make sure it never happens again.”

“We are investigating how that happened so that we can make sure it never happens again,” the company said.

#BBNaija 2018 Day 47: Bambam Wins The Friday Night Arena Games

Featured Image

Scoring at 1 minutes and 50 seconds, Bambam grabbed the top spot during the Friday night Arena Games in the #bbnaija house to defeat all other housemates.

After her Head of House tenure, and having knocked the Samvita Cooking Task down, Bambam has secured another win during the Friday night Arena Games.

It all started off well as the #bbnaija Housemates prepared and got ready to take on another Challenge.

Gathered in the Arena, they learned that unlike previous Arena Games, this one was made of four smaller tasks and to everyone’s relief, no puzzle. It was the first time since the start of the season that the #bbnaija Housemates had been spared the puzzle ordeal, for it had earlier proved to be the breaking point for many.

One after the other, the #bbnaija Housemates entered the Game with their best foot forward, under their peers’ cheerful attention. Lolu and Nina completed the games in the seven-minute range, while Cee-C and Anto remained in the five-minute bracket.

Rico swavey and Alex stayed in the four-minute window, which Miracle and Tobi easily lowered to the three-minute timeframe.

When Bambam was announced as the ultimate winner, she was beaming of pride and the #bbnaija Housemates seemed to be genuinely thrilled at her victory. In addition to a Super Reward to be unveiled the next day, Biggie promised celebratory drinks to the House.

However, Biggie seemed not to be done with the #bbnaija housemates yet, and he kept them seated on the bench, waiting to hear about how they had fared on the Wager Task.

Sandwiched between Tobi and Miracle, Nina was mumbling prayers with her eyes shut as Biggie maintained the suspense. Finally Biggie’s voice thundered that the #bbnaija Housemates would have to wait until Sunday to find out whether they had lost or won the Wager.

The Housemates grumbled and exited the Arena, as their disappointment on hearing the news was evident.

The Tragedy Of Lagos

Featured Image

The Tragedy of Lagos, By Pius Adesanmi

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

Lagos State has the most opaque finances in Nigeria because she has been run since 1999 by cosmopolitan minds who need a progressive veneer for crude and conspicuous consumption. Other personal slave plantations such as Kwara, Delta, and Imo, are less opaque because the Emperor has no burden of pretending to be a progressive.

This piece was written by Pius Adesanmi. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

For instance, Okorocha openly parcels out Imo State’s finances to himself, sister, daughter, son-in-law, and intends to emulate Bukola Saraki by carrying the State’s treasury to Abuja to continue in the Senate, while a quisling superintends over the State for him. Imo State’s finances do not need to be as opaque as what we have in Lagos because Okorocha is crude and unrefined and does not need the pretext of cosmopolitan, progressive sophistication like Tinubu and his boys in Lagos.

All over Nigeria, wherever the leaders are free to be brutes in the state of nature, the finances are usually more accessible. James Ibori and his boys in Delta are like Bukola Saraki and his boys in Kwara or Okorocha and his boys in Imo. Ibori, Uduaghan, Okowa – diseducated brutes who have no burden of civilisation. They need no opacity in the finances of Delta. They are free.

Kogi under the late Abubakar Audu was a crude personal slavery plantation and there was no need for opaque finances in Lokoja either. For all his unprecedented worwority, Governor Yahaya Bello will not be able to extend the cruel fate of Kogi as one man’s and one family’s personal slave plantation like Lagos, Imo, Delta, and Kwara. The dynamics of Kogi do not conduce to a family who is not from the majority ethnic nationality in the State owning and operating her as a personal slave plantation. So Kogi will continue to be a crude property of transient adventurers with no need for opaque finances.

The fact that Lagos since 1999 has been run by well-read cosmopolitan minds with ostensible left-leaning and populist sensibilities – Tinubu, Fashola, Ambode – is instructive and should sensitise us to a grave danger. Lagos has remained a fundamental puzzle for those who have applied themselves to study her – how can Nigeria’s most sophisticated State be one man’s personal slave plantation since 1999?

Those who are puzzled by the tragic irony of Lagos miss the fact that nothing is more dangerous than the sophisticated, cosmopolitan mind that has decided to work against the common good by personalising the Commonwealth. A mind that is set on this course – as has been the case in Lagos since 1999 – has enough intellectual fire power to pass off pure wind, puff, and powder as solidity, enough cerebral resources to make unquenchable greed and corruption and brazen personalisation of the resources of the Commonwealth appear to the people as mutually-shared prosperity.

A cosmopolitan mind set on the course of crude exploitation and personalisation of the resources of the state has enough cerebral matter to understand the power of identity myths and narratives. This explains why these sophisticated minds have constructed mythologies of the self for the Lagosian. The Lagosian has been screaming “Eko o ni baje,” “Eko baje ti,” and “Gedegbe l’Eko wa,” with more gusto since 1999, than ever before in his history.

The louder he has screamed these mythologies of the self, the superior self, the busier Alpha Beta and Tinubu’s numerous other technologies of personalisation of the Commonwealth have been. The mythologies of the self constructed for the Lagosian are, in fact, diversionary mythologies of superiority.

So long as the Lagosian is chanting these mythologies of the self, he is distracted and looking down on the “bush man” from Ekiti, Osun, Oyo and other parts of the bush interior of Nigeria – don’t even mention my poor Kogi! – and feeling superior. This superiority blinds him to the tragedy of his life as a citizen of Lagos. He does not know that the bush people of Ekiti are freer than him because they are not as enslaved to one man and one family as he is.

Investment in superiorist mythologies and other soporifics applied on the people by well-read cosmopolitans have guaranteed their ability to perfect their strategies of financial opacity in state transactions nearly unchecked for twenty years. Lagos is Africa’s biggest crime scene. Because of the size of her economy, it is the closest Africa now has to Mobutu Sese Seko’s Zaire in terms of state capture by one person. Only that this person is not crude like Mobutu and has played a sophisticated politics that has glued an entire ethnic nation to his persona as their liberator, hence they are totally hostile to any scrutiny of the man.

Part of me thinks that resistance by mainstream Lagos and the Yoruba at large to any serious scrutiny of Tinubu’s personalisation of the finances of Lagos is due to the fact that folks have bought so deep into constructions of his persona as their liberator and hero that they are afraid of what they’ll find. Letting go of identity mythologies has never been easy in the history of human civilisation. In terms of the obligation to scrutinise, it must also be noted that Tinubu and his boys have largely co-opted the entire intellectual base of the South-West into their project and narratives. This explains why this sort of state capture could go on for so long without rigorous intellectual challenge in a region which houses the bulk of the social sciences in Nigeria. No South-West intellectual has seriously interrogated project Tinubu since 1999.

But you are always going to be as strong as your weakest link. Ambode is less read than Babatunde Fashola. In the long chain of Tinubu boys, he is one of the least sophisticated. It is therefore no surprise that he is the one threatening to undo an architecture of slavery, exploitation, and personalisation of the state that has been twenty years in the making.

With his gra-gra and woolly-headed over-taxation and over-levying, he has finally applied a much-needed shock therapy to Lagosians. Folks are finally starting to wake up. Folks are finally starting to smell the coffee.

2019 is pregnant. For the sake of Lagosians, I hope it gives birth to freedom from slavery.

ASUU Begins Indefinite Strike In IBB University

Featured Image

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of IBB University Lapai, has announced that it has begun an indefinite strike, following the nonpayment of its N500 million outstanding allowances by the Niger state government.

The announcement was made by ‎Dr Salahu Lawal, ASSU Chairman, IBB University Chapter, during a chat with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lapai on Saturday, March 17, 2018, Daily Trust reports.

According to him, the decision was taken after the expiration of the week-long warning strike embarked by the union on March 7.

He said that the chapter executives were invited by the state government over‎ the issue but they were unwilling to pay the allowances that had accrued since 2009.

“Niger state government begged us that it will pay N350 million while we forfeit N150 million; we cannot afford such a loss, it is huge.

“This is the money we worked for and it has to be paid us in full; actually, they wanted to pay us but they insisted in paying N350 million; that is a breach and we are not going to take it.

“This money we are asking for is accrued money from our allowances, this money we earned it, we are not begging for it.

“They said they do not have money to clear the backlog, we are not going to accept their offer. They want us to forfeit part of the money, we cannot because some of our members died while waiting for this money.

“I am sure if they had paid this money, some of them would have used it for their medical care and may not have died,” he said.

In his reaction, Mr Jide Orintunsin, Senior Media Assistant to Gov. Abubakar Bello, said that the debt was not incurred by the present administration rather; it was inherited from the previous administration.

According to him, members of the union were not being reasonable in view of the financial challenges of the administration was dealing with.

“We have many competing issues jostling for financial attention, these issues are many and we are trying to do something with the little resources we have.‎

‎“We will pay but in phases, they should bear with us ‎and accept in good faith what we are willing to pay now,” he said.

How Banky W Made Me Famous – Masterkraft Reveals

Featured Image

Popular Nigerian producer Masterkraft has opened up on how he became one of the most sought after producers in the music industry and one celebrity artiste that played a big role in his success is Banky W.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, Masterkraft narrated how he was connected with the top R&B singer and after the first job, he promised to make him popular and he is glad that Banky W proved to be the man of his words.

He said:

“The turning point in my life came after I produced a song and they wanted to feature a rapper on it. They called MI and after he listened to it, he asked for the producer.

He did not even believe that the song was produced in Nigeria. He later asked after me and when we met, he asked once more if I produced the song or copied it.

At that point, I had to open my computer and show him my files. Instantly, he called Banky W who called me immediately but I did not have his number, so I did not pick the call because they were recording and I did not want to disrupt the session.

A text message later came in stating that it was Banky W. It was an exciting moment for me and I remember that I ran out of the studio to the gate like four times just to get myself together and I called the number back.

To my surprise, it was Banky W and he was asking for the address of my studio with the promise of showing up the next day. True to his word, he came the next day, we sat down and he gave me an idea of the kind of song he wanted to release.

In less than 30 minutes, I had produced the song. Banky was so much in awe that he told me that he had been in the state for years and had never had that type of result or sound. He said that for what I had done, he would make sure my name was everywhere and I got the first and second slot on his album.

That was how I made it to his album. The next thing was that I saw myself in the newspapers and it was Banky W that made it happen. That was a major turning point in my life. Shortly after I worked for his record label, EME, and I was the vocal coach for Wizkid and Skales at the time,”

Known as one of the most sought-after music producers in the country, Masterkraft seized the opportunity to warn younger artistes and music producers to desist from alcohol and drug abuse under the guise of boosting their creativity.

“I don’t think you need to enhance or boost your creativity with drugs. I believe that creativity is God-given. If you can harness your creativity without drugs, it would be good for you because you might find yourself in an environment where you would not find drugs.

I was built that way and it made me shun drugs. If I take anything, it affects my creativity; it dampens it. I can only take alcohol when I want to relax,” he said.

Featured Image

An ex-housemate fromm the second season of big brother nigeria visited the big brother house to help the #bbnaija housemates settle the debate and find out who is the best and worst cook in the House with the Samvita Cooking Task.

At the end of the task, Bambam emerged victorious after she prepared a perfectly textured and presented Samvita meal.

Ex-Big Brother Naija Housemate Miyonse was the guest judge for this Task, making him the first celebrity guest in the #bbnaija House this season.

A number of the #bbnaija housemates were left wondering what it was like to see their alumni back in the House as a celebrity guest. Quite a number of people come to the big Brother House with the aim of exposing their talents to the public in hopes that when they leave the #bbnaija House, their careers will soar.

The #bbnaija Housemates however worked in teams to create either Vegetable or Egusi soup.

The Team were paired as follows:

Teddy A and Bambam,
Cee-C and Alex,
Lolu and Rico Swavey,
Nina and Anto, and
Miracle and Tobi.

Miyonse said that in his experience men are better cooks, and in that moment the determination in Bambam’s face to change his mind was apparent.

At this point Teddy A and Bambam with the resident House chef Rico Swavey truly giving his all in this Task. It was however not good enough for the win. He however exhibited good sportsmanship, as he congratulated Bambam.

#BBNaija 2018 Day 46: Eight Shocking Moments So Far In The House

Featured Image

Season three of Big brother naija has had More than a few shomcking moments and the #bbnaija housemates have sure brought much more than double wahala. From birthdays to diary sessions and jabs, there has sure being a lot of interesting things and shocking moments.

Miracle, Dee-One and Alex never expected that their birthdays would be celebrated in the #bbnaija House especially since they were away from their families, friends and familiarity. The three #bbnaija Housemates were the more emotional yet most appreciative of Biggie’s thoughtfulness.

During an open-heart session, Biggie left Ifu Ennada all stirred-up when he revealed he was an only child. As the second child of six children, Ifu Ennada didn’t seem to be able to process the information very well and left the Diary Room looking all puzzled.

On International Mother’s Day, Biggie gave a nod of encouragement to Tobi, whose striking rapping performance stunned the #bbnaija House. Big brother apreciated him and told him ‘You’ve got bars’, which got Tobi emotional, as he relished his sudden fame.

On a Friday night, during the Arena Game, as Miracle tried to solve the Task’s puzzle, Biggie couldn’t help it as he took a jab at Miracle that ‘there were more buttons on the airplane’ which left the #bbnaija Housemate more puzzled to say the least.

After the reading of a Task, the #bbnaija Housemates gathered in the Arena, mentally assessing and preparing for the new mission. They clearly were tensed, looking at each other from the corner of the eyes, when Biggie cracked their ribs open and punched that ‘Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That’.

No one in the #bbnaija House has found a way to unsettle Rico Swavey. The man is balanced and doesn’t get swayed in any way the wind blows. Yet when Biggie publicly praised him, and said ‘I see your time in the gym has paid off’ Rico’s face lit up with happiness.

As the #bbnaija Housemates had eased into the House, they started getting more freedom to be themselves. Biggie saw it fit to issue Cee-C and Lolu with two Strikes, just to remind the #bbnaija Housemates of who was in charge. The Strikes seemed to have a cooling effect as it kept all the housemates on their Toes.

#BBNaija 2018 Day 47: Housemates Get More Time For The Nokia Task

Featured Image

Big Brother called the #bbnaija Housemates into the lounge and informed them that they have been given an extra hour to finalise their Nokia Duo-Clip Task, and would need to submit the phones back to the Ninja for Biggie to assess.

There was some nervous laughter after Biggie’s announcement, as the concerned #bbnaija Housemates were concerned when Biggie said he gave them, “a simple Task” as though they have possibly gotten the brief wrong.

Not long after this, Nina immediately turned to Miracle about working on their edits as soon as possible so they can get it right, but Miracle said he wants to eat. That however in turn sparked a bit of a brawl when Teddy A made a comment about rations.

It sparked a debate between Nina and Alex around the food usage in the #bbnaija House, and how the Head Of House Nina listens to their suggestions.

The argument escalated and ended up involving Lolu, Rico Swavey (who was more like Alex’s yes-man whenever she commented), and of course Miracle, who was on Nina’s side for moat part of the arguement.

In another part of the #bbnaija House, Anto said to Teddy they have to win this Task. She can’t take losing out on prizes anymore. She was nervous because she feels that people have really brought their creativity out on this Task.

She was impressed by the music that Teddy A put on their own. In the garden, Tobi appreciated Lolu for good work on the Task, and how well they treated their introduction.

Cee-C and Bambam on the other hand, chose to focus their energies on doing their make up and fixing themselves up for that perfect selfie or ‘bothie’! Anto sat with them for a moment, but she decoded to move on and take a look at other clips by the #bbnaija Housemates.

She however made it known to them that she hopes ‘Bam-C’ have their Task ready and sorted, otherwise they may suffer when it comes to the judgment by Big Brother.

The #bbnaija Housemates had quite an active night that saw them participate in their Musical Wager Finale and the Diary Sessions that came with a twist as Biggie replaced himself with Head of Hoise Nina for the sessions.

The will to win the Nokia Task had Alex putting on make-up at 03:00 a.m. as she and Lolu worked through the night. In between all of that there was an ice-cream fight and dressing room table tennis to keep the #bbnaija housemates.

For the first time, Big brother granted Head of House Nina the privilege to hold Diary Session on his behalf. He ordered the #bbnaija Housemates to stay in the bedroom while she prepared herself, and had a Ninja deliver a large green notebook with a pen for her to write on.

She seemed intimidated at first, before she went on to sit comfortably in the chair, and couldn’t repress her giggle whenever she would call her fellow #bbnaija Housemates to come to the lounge.

The #bbnaija Housemates except for Rico Swavey kept their Diaries short and straight to the point, as they avoided revealing their deepest thoughts to Nina. Upon Biggie’s orders, the only Housemate excluded from the Diary Session was Tobi as he is still being punished for ignoring Big Brother last week.

Later on, Nina was set on her task of feeding her fellow #bbnaija Housemates until Alex walked in the kitchen with a spoon solidly set in a bucket of ice cream. Enticed by the sweet sugary smell, Nina dropped everything and tried to plant her own spoon into Alex’s bucket to no avail.

Alex ran away, jealously guarding the ice cream, until finally she conceded to allow Nina to scoop some in order to restore the peace in the kitchen.

Alex and Lolu on their part woke up in the early hours of the morning to work on their Nokia Task. Alex even put on make-up as early as 03:00 a.m. so that they could shoot their scenes. This is the most dedication we have ever seen from Alex apart from being the queen of the dancefloor.

The #bbnaija Housemates have made the dressing room more than just that. It’s been used as a dance floor, psychology room, hiding place and as of late a table tennis challenge room. Tobi, Lolu, Teddy A and Rico swavey took turns playing tennis table on the island unit, surrounded by a glorious mess, but they were sure happy nonetheless.

The #bbnaija Housemates had a hard te waking up early on day 47 which is completeley understandable based on the night’s activities. Music finally got them out of bed, even as theu looked forward to continuing the Nokia task.
