Death Row: Rev King May Be Granted Clemency

Featured Image

Lagos State Government has disclosed that Reverend Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, popularly called Rev King, may be granted clemency and not go through the hangman’s nose, if Ezeugo is worthy of it.

Nigerian Guardian reports that the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Adeniji Kazeem, stated this during the 2018 Ministerial Press Briefing of the Ministry of Justice to mark Akinwunmi Ambode third anniversary.

Kazeem said: “The truth of the matter is that the case of Rev King, as high profile as it could be, it is just one of the other cases of people that are on death row. The case of the clergy would be considered like others that had been convicted by the court.

“If and at any point in time, it gets to the stage where the sentence which was impose by the court is to be carried out, it will be carried out. If he is worthy of clemency that will be given to him. But we haven’t gotten to that stage now. So he could continue to cool his heels in prison.”

While describing herself as the happiest Mum in the world, Sola Ogudu shared a video of her son, Boluwatife praying for her and wrote;

“I Put my Life on Hold for My Lil Baby.

I Made a promise to myself to raise my Lil man right regardless of whatever the situation may be, To teach him how to Care, How to Love, How to be a Gentleman and Most Importantly to ALWAYS put God First in Everything…

I’ve NEVER had someone care for me as much as my 6year old Son..

He makes my Hardwork, Hustle, and Prayers worth it.. Was having a nervous breakdown from so much stress lately..

And Tife walks in my room today with so much words of WISDOM..

Telling me how to NEVER let anything bother or stress me out, He said to me; Mum you told me God answers prayers.. Instead of you feeling Sad why not talk to God and you’ll see he’ll answer all your prayers and you’ll be even happier.

He said to me .. Mum I’m lucky to have you as my Mum and went on to say a prayer for his Mummy and that brought so much tears to my eyes…. TEARS OF JOY….

Knowing that all my years of pain and suffering is not in vain.. knowing that I raised a King, A Fighter, A Go Getter, A Perfect gentleman who knows and loves God…

I’m turning 27 in less than an hour and I couldn’t have asked for a better Birthday gift ..

My Son Prayed for me from the bottom of his heart, Leaned in and gave me the warmest hug ever and constant reassurance of his love for his MAMA.

From your mouth to God’s ears in Jesus name baby Thank you lord Jesus for never letting me down.. Through it allll.. STILL I RISE..

Thank you Boluwatife for the best birthday gift any Mother can possibly ask for.. Mummy Loves You FOREVER and Always.

I’ll never stop working hard to provide all that you need and more.. God’s got us baby.. God loves us .. Love you son for making me the Happiest and Luckiest Mum in the World @czar_czarina

(WATCH): Ryan Reynolds Digs At DC Universe In Final Trailer For ‘Deadpool 2’

Featured Image

The final trailer for ‘Deadpool 2’ was released on Thursday morning, about a month ahead of the movie’s premiere.

Though Deadpool 2’s marketing campaign has so far kept things pretty quiet, coasting by on its continuing meta-brilliance, the latest trailer actually seems to offer something of a concrete plot.

Fast-paced action and hilarious jokes are mixed together with crazy action scenes in the 2:23 trailer that only makes me want to see more.

Our antihero will have to face Josh Brolin’s Cable, a time-travelling mutant with a metal arm and penchant for chaos, on the hunt for a young mutant with fire-wielding capabilities, played by Hunt for the Wilderpeople‘s Julian Dennison.

To save the kid from certain death, 2016’s rogue champion, Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), will have to put together a team he’s calling the X-Force: a reference to a team of mutants from the Marvel comics commonly associated (but separate) from the X-Men, who are known for being a little more reckless and aggressive in their tactics.

‘You’re no f***ing hero, your’e just a clown, dressed up as a sex toy,’ Cable growls as he dishes out a beating that ends with a knife jammed deep into the hero’s neck.

‘So dark… you sure you’re not from the DC universe?’ Deadpool replies, insulting Marvel’s rival comic book house.

He does however poke fun at his own studio too, when he tells Cable:’ Pump the hate brakes, Thanos!’

Deadpool 2 also stars Morena Baccarin, Zazie Beetz, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, Jack Kesy, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Shioli Kutsuna, Eddie Marsan, Terry Crews, and Stefan Kapičić.

Lagos To Begin Work On ‘N844bn’ Fourth Mainland Bridge Before December

Featured Image

The Lagos State government on Wednesday, April 18, announced that work on the Fourth Mainland Bridge would begin before end of the year.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Adebowale Akinsanya, at a press briefing by the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.

The conference was to mark the third anniversary of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

The gigantic project, which was stalled a year ago when the state government terminated a contract with a consortium of investors over delay in commencement, is estimated to gulp N844 billion.

The consortium earlier engaged included: Visible Asset Limited, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and Access Bank, Hi-tech Construction Limited, Eldorado Nigeria Limited, Nigerian Westminster Dredging and Marine and J.P. Morgan.

However, Akinsanya disclosed that the new preferred bidder for the project would emerge on or before June.

He further said that the Ambode-led administration has completed 55 roads of 129 kilometres, and 48 building projects between May 2017 and April 2018.

He said the 25 roads and 17 building projects are ongoing across the various local government areas in the state.

Meanwhile, it is understood that the new alignment of the bridge will pass through Lekki, Langbasa and Baiyeiku towns along the shoreline of the Lagos Lagoon estuaries, further running through Igbogbo River Basin and crossing the Lagos Lagoon estuaries to Itamaga Area in Ikorodu.

The alignment would further cut through the Itoikin road and the Ikorodu – Sagamu Road to connect Isawo inward Lagos – Ibadan Expressway at Ojodu Berger axis.

The four-lane dual carriageway is also designed to have eight interchanges to facilitate effective inter-connectivity between different parts of the state.

Aguero Won’t Be ‘Fully’ Fit For World Cup

Featured Image

Sergio Aguero is facing a race to be fit for this summer’s World Cup finals in Russia, with the striker recently going under the knife after picking up a knee injury in Manchester City’s loss to crosstown rivals Manchester United two weeks ago.

Argentina’s doctor Homero D’Agostino has issued an update on the City striker’s fitness, telling Radio 10 that the 29-year-old frontman will not arrive in Russia fully fit having completed an arthroscope:

“That a player has undergone an arthroscope with 60 days to go before the World Cup is worrying. The recovery process will require at least five weeks. When one has old injuries, the recovery process is not as fast as one would like it to be. It’s never going to be less than three or four weeks, or even more.”

“I imagine that he will not arrive 100 percent fit with the limited time that is left before the World Cup. The anatomy is the anatomy. The injury is what it is. He can try but I don’t think he will arrive 100 percent.”

Aguero is set to miss the remainder of the campaign with City but it remains to be seen if he will recover ahead of Argentina’s World Cup opener against Iceland on June 16.

City’s top scorer this season with 30 goals in all competitions, Aguero has not started a game since March 4 but made late substitute appearances in the home defeats to Manchester United and Liverpool.

D’Agostino believes surgery was the only option left for Aguero.

“The important thing is to know what he had,” he said. “The doctors would have tried to resolve the issue in a conservative manner, non-surgically, but they were unsuccessful. The arthroscopy is a process that you do when there are old injuries.”

Watch As Buhari Calls Nigerian Youths ‘Lazy’ (VIDEO) | Atiku Disagrees, Nigerians React

Featured Image

President Muhammadu Buhari, while speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum on Wednesday, April 18, in London slammed Nigerian youths, saying that “a lot of them haven’t been to school” but are after free things based on the notion that Nigeria is an oil-rich nation.

“About the economy, we have a very young population, our population is estimated conservatively to be 180 million. This is a very conservative one.”

“More than 60 percent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free,” Buhari was quoted to have said.

Watch video below from TheCable:

His comments have since been greeted with outrage and backlash as the country’s youths proclaim their resilience and hard work.

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, was one of the notable Nigerians that disagreed with President Buhari’s statement that many Nigerian youths are lazy.

Alhaji Atiku took to his social media accounts on Thursday to say “‘I will never refer to Nigeria’s youth as people who sit and do nothing. They are hardworking. I should know, I have thousands of youths working for me all over the country who have been the backbone to our success.”

Buhari Says Many Nigerian Youths Haven’t Been To School – “They Do Nothing Cause Of Oil Money”

However, some Nigerians, who already seem cheesed off by Buhari’s assertion of the country’s youth, expressed their displeasure at the former VP’s intervention despite his show of support for them.

Others still vented their anger at the president following his comments.

Facts With Kulqee: Easy Steps on How to Build Your First 1,000 Loyal Fans

Featured Image

The aim of every entertainer is to build a cultic or loyal fan base. It is the number of fans an entertainer has that determines his/her pays. Thus, calculating the sales made by an entertainer is equivalent to his/her fan base. With this said, building a loyal fan base is key. By saying a loyal fan base, I mean; fans that are dedicated to you and your contents and appreciates every work of yours. It is one to have a fan, it is another to retain the fan and make them loyal to you.

The entertainment industry is getting crowded (even though there is still space to accommodate many), thus it takes a lot of creativity, strategy, consistency, uniqueness, and dedication to make an impact in the industry. Selling yourself is the bottom-line so it requires a lot of energy to sell a unique product to the market, as you will need to appeal to the market, get them to accept your product or compete with the trend hoping to break in. Either way, these simple steps will help you cultivate at least 1,000 loyal fans when effectively utilized.

  1. ADVERTISE YOURSELF.

Every entertainer is an ambassador of his brand. He or she represents all his or her brand is about, guess this is why people tend to despise your contents when they hate you. Mind you when I say do not let people hate you, I mean when they hate on you for messing up or pride etc. If they hate you for jealousy or sth never mind, they more your haters like the one EFE has, the more you get sustained. As everyone is going to be criticizing you and thus make you the talk of the town. This generates more fans and boosts the confidence of your already existing fans

Therefore, you need to properly portray your brand. Be active on the scene when events are happening. Do it in a way you will not look desperate or lame but rather noticed. Just being noticed may not seem like a breakthrough but, the more you’re seen, the more people will begin to wonder who you are – leading to conversations and questions that will draw them close to your craft and bi-products.

Eventually, building relationships with people, playing the “good guy game” and getting their attention. This is what happens when good companies try to advertise their products; they don’t ask people to check out their products, they GIVE THEM REASONS TO HAVE THEIR PRODUCTS. Give then reasons to support you. Nobody will support your hustle if there is nothing exceptional about your personality. Do you know people are doing you a favor being your fan? Therefore, you have to give them reasons to render such favor. Every fan you have (or will have) is making an investment in you. They are investing time, money, energy and their reputation- and it’s your job to make them feel it is a good investment. In other words, be LOYAL to your fans…

  1. PACKAGE YOURSELF

You have to package yourself in a way the market won’t have a choice than to buy your product. It has been an established fact that nobody fans poverty. Therefore, appealing to pity will only ruin things. You might end up getting their pity and help for a while to help your broke life but once you have the funds; they will be like “we’re done saving your ass”. So you definitely need to package yourself and APPEAR RICH or WELL TO DO as you mustn’t be in a real sense.

Consistently pushing your image and brand by dishing out QUALITY bi-products, HD photos, Video Clips, Interview sessions, will definitely help. You obviously need to keep stepping up. Many Nigerians despise Nigerian Television Association NTA because they’ve refused to change their jingles, video quality, and studio appearance. This being said, you need to show your investors (fans) that you are progressing and their investment is actually yielding results.

Most people don’t follow artists because they love their songs but cos they like their imagery which is their fashion sense, crazy dope pictures etc….The difference between sachet water and bottle water is packaging. More respect to offering to the later because of packaging. So in building your first 1,000 fan base, playing with imagery and packaging is vital

  1. EXPORT YOURSELF

You cannot be an Ajah artiste for years. It is obviously a crime to keep being an Enugu artiste or whatever town or location you are. Leverage, connect and collaborate. Think expansion always. Being stagnant and roaming around a box or a locale in no distant time will make even your very first fans i.e family and friends see you as a joke. The entertainment industry is built on a blockchain called relationship. Connecting is key. Learn to offer a heart before asking for a hand. Do not go to people asking for help, rather seek for what services you can offer. Now when I say connection, i necessary don’t mean worshiping the rich guys and trampling on the average guys. Anybody can be rich in the next second. A single hook can blow up someone. They cannot link you up if you weren’t nice. So you got to be nice. People are fanning your person. Building your first 1,000 fans requires you to push out yourself in the good sense. You might not have the funds to collaborate but relating and leveraging properly can do a lot for you.

Please note, these steps will only replicate the above results if your product, which is your talent and personality, is marketable. That is to say, you need to work on yourself to maximize these steps.

Okorocha Orders Adults In Imo To Pay ₦3,000 Each As “Autonomous Community Adult Development Levy”

Featured Image

The Governor Rochas Okorocha led government of Imo State has instructed traditional rulers in the state to tax at least 2,000 ‘leviable adults’ in their communities the sum of N3,000 as payment of Autonomous Community Adult Development levy.

This disclosure was made known in a letter shared on Twitter by Human rights activist Professor Chidi Odinkalu via his account (@ChidiOdinkalu) on Thursday, April 19, 2018.

It is understood that the letter was sent to traditional rulers in communities across the state, informing them of the new levy.

In the letter dated, April 3, 2018, the governor directed all recognised Autonomous Communities in Imo state to pay the Minimum Adult Development Levy of N6 million.

It is also indicated in the letter that any traditional ruler who fails to achieve such a return into the government’s purse will have their salaries and allowances suspended while their communities will be merged with ‘sister communities’ that meet their targets.

The letter was signed by Hon Louis O. Duru, the state’s Commissioner of Community Government, Culture and Traditional Affairs.

The letter read, “His Excellency, Owelle (Dr.) Rochas Okorocha OON, Executive Governor of Imo State has at several meetings with the Royal fathers reiterated his administration’s resolve on the issue of payment of Autonomous Community Adult Development levy of N3,000 per adult.

“To facilitate the payment, the State Government through the Ministry of CGC, since September 2016 had provided Community Adults Register for Autonomous Communities in the State where the Communities will enlist the names of at least 2,000 leviable adults.

“Consequently, His Excellency, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha has directed that all recognised Autonomous Communities in Imo State should pay the Minimum Adult Development Levy of N6,000,000 (six million naira only) without further delay.

“Any recognised Autonomous Community that fails to pay the development levy will be merged with sister Autonomous Community that had paid and the salaries/allowances of the traditional ruler of the erring community will be suspended.”

El-Rufai Sacks 4,562 Newly-Recruited Teachers In Kaduna

Featured Image

The Governor Nasir El-Rufai led government of Kaduna State has sacked 4,562 newly-recruited teachers a few weeks after they were issued with employment letters to replace those sacked for failing a competency test.

The state Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Ja’afaru Sani, who stated this at a briefing on Wednesday, explained that the newly-recruited teachers were sacked because they found their ways into the service of state government through dubious means.

The state government had sacked 22,000 teachers that failed competency test based on questions meant for primary four pupils few months ago.

It had announced that it would replace them with competent teachers, based on a competitive recruitment exercise.

But at the end of the exercise, some of the teachers could not correctly write acceptance letters, forcing the state government to organise another screening for all the newly-recruited teachers.

Sani said, “At the end, 4,562 incompetent ones, believed to have found their way into the final list illegally, were fished out, leaving 11,335 competent ones.

“The 11,335 newly-recruited teachers, predominantly degree holders, including a few with Master’s degrees, have already been deployed to over 4,000 primary schools.

“This was after they had undergone vigorous induction training, along with the remaining old teachers, to equip them with modern teaching techniques and effective classroom management.

“We are hoping that between now and next month ending, we will be concluding the recruitment process of the balance of 13,665 teachers.

“We want to equip our students with the information and communication technology skills to enable them compete favourably in the current technology-driven world.”

Buhari And The 2019 Challenge – Festus Keyamo

Buhari And The 2019 Challenge, By Festus Keyamo

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

On Tuesday (April 17, 2018), my appointment as the director, strategic communications of the President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation was made public. In that capacity, I would be the official spokesperson of the president’s campaigns for the 2019 presidential election.

Let me put it on record that I was indeed consulted before the announcement. Upon the offer, I wholeheartedly and proudly accepted the challenge to do this for the good of my country and for posterity. For in President Buhari I have found an approximation of the lofty values I cherish and have fought for all my life.

2019 Polls: Kudos, Knocks As Buhari Appoints Festus Keyamo As Campaign Spokesperson

I know millions of Nigerians have never seen me in the mould of partisan politics. This is because for the past two-and-a-half decades, I have been under intense public scrutiny while engaging successive governments (military and civilian) in the most critical way possible. The public has also watched me grow steadily all the way from that young, restless lawyer to the exalted position of a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN). In the process of my restless and relentless engagements of the authorities, I have been hounded, arrested, detained, paraded like a criminal, charged and discharged from courts several times, but remain unbowed. Hence, some of us have been branded as “radicals” and seen as completely apolitical.

However, the ultimate aim of every struggle is not really to enthrone a perfect, flawless system. Only the starry-eyed, younger ones think such is possible. That is Utopia. Rather, the ultimate aim of the struggle is to enthrone a government (yes, even with the normal human flaws) that is focused, determined and fiercely opposed to the unscrupulous wheeler-dealers in the society, and committed to protecting the interests of the down-trodden, the weak and vulnerable.

One of the obvious ways to do this is to ensure that what belongs to all is not cornered by a few; and if they do so, to ensure that they are made to account and brought to justice. I can boldly say that no government in the history of Nigeria has recovered so much looted funds as that of President Muhammadu Buhari. The fact that this government has clearly chosen this path in protecting the masses of our country (as unpleasant as it has been to some) is one of the many reasons why I am so proud and bold about my support for the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari.

In doing this, I take a cue from my revered late boss, Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN) who mentored me. Throughout his career, he also consistently and fiercely engaged every government in Nigeria and suffered as a result. Guess what? THE ONLY GOVERNMENT HE FULLY SUPPORTED THROUGHOUT HIS LIFETIME was that led by General Muhammdu Buhari between 1984 and 1985; and that was to the chagrin of some of his professional colleagues and fellow “radicals”. However, he saw what they did not see at that time, because when that government was overthrown by General Babangida, what followed was the worst era in our history in terms of institutionalising corruption and political chicanery in Nigeria. In the 2007 presidential election, my late boss again endorsed General Buhari in the following words: “When we talk of anti-corruption war, there is no way you will exclude General Buhari. I don’t want to hear what a political party is going to do, whether ANPP or PDP or NDP or which other political organisation. Tell me who is leading the party, tell me who is leading the government, that’s my concern. It’s a matter of leadership. This is a serious election, very serious one”.

Some of those same forces and interests that saw the back of General Buhari in 1985 are still very much around with us. You can hear their voices getting louder of late, preaching hate and toiling hard to incite the people against the president. They want us to go back to our old ways, disguised as if they genuinely care for the masses of this country. When you look at the profile and ignoble antecedents of these characters – the emergency heroes, some of us have no option but to undertake this role we have been called upon to assume just to ensure that they do not succeed in their selfish enterprise.

For all I have said above, my convictions about this job are deep and well thought-out. Given my background, it is clear that I cannot be a sycophantic rabble-rouser, looking for some personal gains. Having reached the top echelon of my career, some of us can conveniently stay away from all these, and continue to earn a good living from our thriving law practice. However, the call of duty beckons because we are at a critical crossroads in our history, where one wrong turn may take us back to the sorry state from which we are emerging. We are here to convince and appeal to the masses not to allow us take that wrong turn.

Now, it is important I elaborate a bit on this “sorry state” from which we are coming. Some people always attempt to befuddle the issues by continually reminding us of certain statistics that existed before 2015 and after. However, our situation before 2015 is comparable to that of a car on a high speed, seemingly doing well on the road, but with the temperature gauge already rising. That car is in trouble. But to the uninformed, the car would be seen as doing well. However, the callous driver, fully aware of the rising temperature in the engine, continues to speed on. After some time, it is inevitable that the engine of the car would overheat and crash. In that state, the callous driver hands over the car to a new driver. The new driver, seeing the condition of the vehicle, decides to fix the radiator first, which is responsible for the overheating in order to protect the engine, before setting out on the road again. Yet, the initial callous driver mischievously calls everyone to come and see how the new driver has parked the car to fix the engine before setting out once again. The callous driver tells everyone that the new driver is clueless; that that is why the car was parked briefly.

The above anecdote is a graphic reflection of the situation we find ourselves. With the crash in oil prices just before 2015, the previous government resorted to borrowing to pay salaries and recklessly drew down on our foreign reserves, just to give the impression that all was well. So much unearned money was also circulating in the country amongst a few, giving the false impression that we were in a buoyant economy. However, the economy was headed for a crash. All the indices show that the slip into recession started shortly before this government took over, like the car whose engine was already over-heating.

The attempt by a few to deceive the people that all was well with us before this government took over, is one of the reasons some of us have decided to come out of our shells to put a hole in that false narrative. It is simply a big lie. I am persuaded that the Buhari government took the right measures to halt a bigger disaster awaiting our economy had it been otherwise. Those who are persuaded otherwise are within their legitimate right to do so. We are all patriots, trying to find the right answers to our problems as a nation. However, if you are persuaded differently, kindly state in details what exactly should have been done to run the economy better, given the crash in oil prices and production that dropped to around 700,000 barrels per day. Surely, discerning Nigerians would no longer buy the fable of “Buhari destroyed our economy”.

If I voted Buhari in 2015 and I am to vote for him again in 2019, then why can’t I campaign vigorously for him? I see no reason. It is a fallacy to say you are neutral in politics, yet you step forward to cast your vote at elections. If you are persuaded enough to vote for a candidate of your choice, then you must also be persuaded enough to campaign for that candidate, because your vote would be lost if you do not convince others to also adopt your position.

That is why I have made my choice for 2019 and I will publicly stand by it. That choice is President Muhammadu Buhari. For those who are persuaded otherwise, I challenge them to also name their choices because you cannot criticise my choice of a candidate without naming your own choice. After all, the president would not be running against ghosts or against a vacuum. Therefore, this is not a time to hide behind the blanket criticism of any candidate. Each candidate should be assessed in comparative terms with other candidates.

There has also been much attempt to de-market the president using his age and health as pummeling tools, and as such raising the decibel in the clarion call for a young or younger president. First, on the issues of age and health, it would be ungodly and outrageous for a mere mortal to assume the status of God Almighty to speculate on the longevity or strength of any human being. Even doctors have been proven wrong on so many occasions. It is a matter entirely in the hands of God. Our past presidents that died in office (Abacha and Yar’Adua) were in their prime. In fact, Abacha did not even show any sign of a failing health before he slumped and died. In Zimbabwe, the main opposition candidate for years, Morgan Tsvangirai used the issue of age and health to campaign against President Mugabe, urging him to go and retire and rest. Yet, just a few weeks ago, Morgan Tsvangirai died at the age of 65 and Mugabe is still alive and kicking at the age of 94. Those are the mysterious ways of God Almighty. No human being should even use that as a campaign gimmick. That person would be courting the wrath of God Almighty.

In addition, no one can argue that age has anything to do with the required integrity to be the president of a country. I also firmly believe that our value systems in politics and the society have been so damaged pre-2015, that a firm and experienced hand is needed to reset our collective psyche before we can set sail again. The notion that public office is just available to share money which was the norm pre-2015 is gradually being changed. Spending a few more years to sustain that kind of re-orientation will do us a world of good. President Buhari is one of the very last of the upright Mohicans in Nigeria available to help reclaim public integrity before he takes his bow in 2023, if the Nigerian people so wish. We must take advantage of his still being around to deepen the nation’s moral fabric.

The choices before us have never been so CLEAR in the history of our country. On the one hand are those who are already in the mud and seeking to drag others in there. These are the ones who keep saying, “We are all corrupt together”, and who keep confessing and apologising like people coming out of a trance. They say they should be forgiven because they have been “honest” enough to confess and apologise. Fellow Nigerians, there is nothing like an honest thief. It is a disgusting oxymoron. A thief is a thief. This is especially so if the thief did not willingly come out to admit he was a thief until his hands were caught right inside the cookie jar.

The other choice before us is a president who has been accused of everything that is false but even his most ardent critics and detractors, locally and internationally, have not accused him of having a penchant for wealth accumulation. I am persuaded to campaign for him for his austere lifestyle, his Spartan taste and frugal nature. I am not looking for a god or an angel to vote for. They are not around here on earth. I am only looking for someone with these minimum personal qualities I have enumerated above. The president’s other human flaws may be there, but I am waiting for the candidates of our opponents to show me their credentials from heaven.

People can easily point to those with questionable pasts in the ruling party, the APC. With my antecedents and in my true conscience, I cannot defend them and cannot make excuses for them. However, in joining the president’s party, they are subjecting themselves to the disciplined leadership of the president. Like Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN) said above, it is the leadership that matters. Like I always ask: Should we all stop going to church because some known sinners also throng to church every Sunday? The obvious answer is in the negative. On the other hand, the other party whose key leaders were all part of those who pilfered our commonwealth are about to present us with one amongst themselves as a presidential candidate in 2019. Of course, reasonable Nigerians are waiting to dismiss that before it happens.

However, for some of my friends, colleagues and associates who are still persuaded by the other way of running our country, and who belong to different political platforms, all I can do is to wish them well, but also state that this is a time for us to agree to disagree. It is all for the good of our country. It will bring out the best in us in canvassing our persuasions. However, I will be putting my heart and soul to this assignment and if anyone is offended by my commitment to the cause, I offer no apology. You can also do likewise to advance your cause. Nigerians would decide at the end of the day.

My message to all those teeming supporters who did it in 2015 for our president is that you do not abandon a ship with which you set sail midway. Our race is not a 100-metre dash. It is a marathon race to rescue our country. We are almost there. When we turn the corner in 2019, you will see the tape at the finishing line. We must not run out of breaths. We believed in 2015. We must keep that belief alive. The hallmark of true supporters is to stand firm in times of storm and in times of calm. The storm is almost over. The president has battled to take control of the steering wheel of the nation and we are on course.

Do not let the naysayers bully you, whether in real life or in cyberspaces. When they run out of arguments, they resort to abuses. If they abuse you, see them as patriots, but misguided ones; if they attack you, see them as patriots, but misguided ones; if they call you unprintable names, see them as passionate patriots, but misguided ones. Do not retaliate. With time, especially when majority of votes wipe out their minority opinions in 2019, they will come round to you and acknowledge your vision. So, hold your own and keep your heads up.

For us, this race is never a do-or-die affair. We shall present the facts as we see them and let Nigerians decide. We do not have to hire Cambridge Analytica to scare the electorate. They are already sufficiently scared by the humongous corruption that took place under the watch of the last government; the electorate are already sufficiently scared by those who are apologising just to sneak their way back to power; the electorate are also sufficiently scared by the tons of cash buried in graveyards, farm houses, luxury flats in Ikoyi, in yachts in the high seas and those used to buy real estate strewn all over the world.

Nigerians know from where their problems came. They know it is not President Buhari. They know it came from some of those battling tooth and nail to displace him. Those who are persuaded by us should not remain aloof, please. Kindly join us in this journey.

Chelsea’s Alonso Gets Three-Match Ban

Featured Image

Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has been banned for three matches for his challenge on Southampton’s Shane Long, the Football Association announced on Thursday.

The left wing-back appeared to stand on the back of Long’s leg during their Premier League game on Saturday and the incident went unpunished by referee Mike Dean.

Alonso was found guilty at a hearing on Wednesday. He is ruled out of Thursday’s Premier League game at Burnley, Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Southampton and the league trip to Swansea on April 28.

“Marcos Alonso will miss Chelsea’s next three matches after an Independent Regulatory Commission ruled he had committed an act of violent conduct against Southampton’s Shane Long,” the FA said in a statement.

“Alonso denied the charge and further submitted that if found proven the suspension would be excessive. However, this was rejected following Wednesday’s hearing.”

The 27-year-old defender was this week named in the Professional Footballers’ Association’s Premier League team of the year, the only representative from Chelsea.

Wande Coal Issues Statement On Alleged Abduction Of His Child

Featured Image

Popular Nigerian singer, Wande Coal, has broken his silence in a statement he issued with respect to the messy child custody battle with his baby mama, Temitope Ogunnusi.

Earlier this week, Temitope had claimed that their son of 10 years was abducted by the singer 8 years ago.

According to reports on the news, she dropped out of secondary school at the age of 16 after being impregnated by the 23-year-old singer, back in 2008. It is understood that the love child, Joseph, is now 10 years old and Tope has not seen him for 8 years.

Although the singer denied that the child was his, the report said, he later accepted him after a paternity test was done.

However, in an attempt to quell misinformation, Wande Coal has issued a statement in which he told his own side of the story.

Read full statement below:

“I want to start by saying that the only truth that has been said so far, is that the child is my son. Everything else is a lie. I honestly do not want to say much because at the end of the day, this is family and Temitope is the mother of the child but I must clarify a few things that She has failed to mention to blogs and websites who have refused to fact-check this story. Things that she has used to attack my character and the reputation of my family.

Temitope has failed to mention to the public that she did not tell me she was pregnant with my son. I didn’t even know she was pregnant. She married another man and claimed that the child was his and she never told me. We (my family) only knew about the child after her husband and other people, including her aunty, found out the child looked like me. She was returned to her family with the child.  The Child was taken to D’banj’s mother who then reached out to my mother and asked for a paternity test to be done. This is why the paternity test was done in 2010 and not 2008. The house the Mohits Crew stayed in at the time was owned by Dbanj’s mother and as Mohits grew, everyone moved to the Maryland house. I did not leave the neighbourhood. Everyone knew where we moved to.

After we confirmed that the child was mine, my mother visited Temitope and everyone agreed that the child needed a cleaner and better environment. My mother took the child, Temitope and her sister to our house for a week. After that week, Temitope left and has not returned since to check on the child. Not even on his birthdays. In 2011, my mother reached out to Temitope and told her that she was disappointed in her. Temitope promised to come visit the child. She never did.

Temitope was in a “fashion school” which she left for reasons best known to her. Not because of the baby as she was married to someone else. My mother paid for a full session in another fashion school to make sure she had something to support herself. Temitope stopped attending three months after she started. If my mother didn’t want to see her, or allow her near the child, why would she do that for her?

The claim that she was refused entry to the house is also a lie. My parents have not changed phone numbers, neither have they moved from the house since the child was given to us. Why hasn’t she taken her family to my parents’ house if she was refused entry? She has both my father’s and mother’s numbers.

I have read things that blogs have stated that my mother said and I can say confidently that my mother would never say such a thing. I must also clarify, that when I knew Temitope, she was 20 years old and the name “Joseph” is not my son’s name. That was the name she and her husband named him.

My parents are respectable and God fearing people, and it is disrespectful for anyone to portray them as Temitope, or blogs and media platforms have portrayed them.

The only reason I will not press charges is because she is the mother of the child. Temitope, stop telling lies. You have a chance to correct this error. No one has stopped you from seeing the child. No one will. I am focused on my career and building a future for my family and if you truly care about the child as you claim, you and your family should reach out to my family.

I love my son and this is the kind of madness I work hard to protect him from. I have said enough as these issues are family matters and I want to keep the rest of it that way.

For the record, the woman in that picture is not my mother and I do not know who she is.

Thank you.”

#BBNaija: Organisers Need To Be More Strict With Rules To Curb Verbal Assault – Pasuma

Featured Image

Veteran Fuji music act, Pasuma has reacted to the recent outburst in the ongoing BBNaija reality Tv show where Ceec blasted fellow housemate Tobi in several verbal confrontations.

According to him, the organizers of the reality TV show needs to enforce some strict rules to avoid future unpalatable dramas in the house.

In his words;

‘I haven’t been paying attention to the Nigeria’s BBNAIJA reality show until recently i started receiving its viral updates which really have been largely filled with unpalatable dramas and misconducts by some of the housemates.

The latest of this is the mindless verbal assault launched by one of the female housemates called CeeC against a male housemate named Tobi’.

He added that Ceec’s behaviour is undesirable and her verbal assault on Tobi signifies collapse in the nation’s moral system and the weakness of family unit as a vital agent of socialization.

‘This undesirable behaviour is clearly one of the indications of the collapse of our moral system and the weakness of the family unit as a vital agent of the society with the prime obligation to install values, good conduct and discipline in children from the cradle.

Indeed, I’ve personally taken that as a duty as a parent. It’s always been part of my songs to the society and its expected that parents will take this responsibility with more seriousness.

Though the BBN managers have penalised the erring housemate for her bad conduct, there must be stricter rules to effectively curb this unpleasant acts so as to enable viewers enjoy the real entertainment and instructional purposes of the show’.

#BBNaija 2018 Day 80: Biggie Rotates The Head Of House Seat

Featured Image

The Smile Task commenced on day 80 and Biggie just called the #bbnaija Housemates into the lounge to expand on the Task brief. However, he added that the #bbnaija Housemates were to select a new Head of House, giving them only one minute in which to make their decision.

The week started with Alex reigning on the Head of House chair from last week’s win. After all, it was under her tenure that long overdue couple reconciliations had taken place, and she, like no one else, knew how to spread fun and cheer in the #bbnaija House, whether during Truth and Dare games or on the party dancefloor.

On Monday, Big Brother put the power in the hands of the Housemate through general consensus, but he flipped the script and declared the Housemate with the least experience would be Head of House.

Seeing that this was Cee-C, the #bbnaija Housemates decided that Nina would be a better choice. For the second time, Nina reigned for a few hours before Big Brother clamped on this, and demanded the rightful Head of House be chosen.

Cee-C was then reluctantly appointed to the Head of House role. She mentioned it in her Diary session that she was sad she had never been Head of House, and was delighted when her turn came. However her appointment was short-lived.

It didn’t take long for the #bbnaija Housemates to come together and agree that Alex should again step into the Head of House role again.

#BBNaija 2018 Day 80: Housemates Get A Teetg-grinding Task

Featured Image

After the daily gruelling workout followed by a dip in the jacuzzi, the #bbnaija Housemates readied up for another day under Head of House Cee-C. As she read Biggie’s instructions to the House, all eyes and ears were on her as her peers tried to decipher the new Task.

Cee-C had called Nina, Alex, Tobi and Miracle to the lounge and picked the two different groups – herself, Alex and Miracle on one side and Nina with Tobi on another.

Biggie’s instructions were very simple, as all that was required from each #bbnaija Housemate was to smile at all times throughout the day. Given that forced smiles are not a natural human feature, Biggie’s Task implied that pleasantness and humour would have to fill the House for the million-dollar smiles to flash around.

Yet Cee-C had barely read the instructions that she launched into a torrent of expletives on Tobi, who kept his calm through it all.

The two groups had also been Tasked to act up different scenarios promoting the benefits of toothbrushes and toothpastes and put together short dramatic performances in order to win a cash prize and dental products.

As much as the #bbnaija Housemates attempted to start working on their presentations, Cee-C kept interrupting the peace, as she kept going back and forth between the dining table where Alex and Miracle were working to the lounge where Tobi and Nina were brainstorming, to keep pouring more fire on Tobi.

With the ₦45 Million pot within reach, one wonders if the #bbnaija Housemates are not at risk of losing the Task, given the tension that has most likely kept the smiles under wraps. We wait to see how the week will end for all the housemates.

Buhari Says Many Nigerian Youths Haven’t Been To School – “They Do Nothing Cause Of Oil Money”

Featured Image

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, April 18, in London slammed Nigerian youths, saying that “a lot of them haven’t been to school” but are after free things based on the notion that Nigeria is an oil-rich nation.

The Cable reports that President Buhari made this assertion while speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Westminster.

“About the economy, we have a very young population, our population is estimated conservatively to be 180 million. This is a very conservative one,” Buhari said.

“More than 60 percent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free.”

The president said he has done well on the three cardinal points of his campaign, including economy and security.

“Recently, my minister for information was constrained to answer a question on people accusing this administration of doing nothing, he said ‘let Nigerians be reminded what position we were before May 2015, what condition we are now, and what we have achieved between then and now and I think people were impressed with the answer.

“For security, we have done quite well. Economy, we are doing very well, especially with agriculture; we are providing soft loans, and guarantee is that you have to belong to a certain locality and you have got land, you don’t have to go to the bank and need a physical collateral. I think a lot is being done.”

360Review: StarBoy “Soco” Music Review / Song Breakdown

Featured Image

STarBoy – SOCO is currently The Most Collaborated Joint hit song in Nigeria. The song Features Ceeza Milli, Spotless, Terri & Wizkid, Produced by Northboi.

The “Soco” which  starts and end with a minimal of 4;15mins, is another exciting song which starts which the Hymn vibes as wizkid sings and serenade to the song and flows towards reaching the song standard and soco ride.

At first when I saw the title of the song I was actually thinking the song is already a miss, but I reserved my comment and waited till the song drops because wizkid always has a way of surprising his fans with serial hit.

The combination from the Star-Boy team seems perfect with appearance from Ceeza Milli, Spotless, Terri & Wizkid who never fails to deliver.

The song starts with the soft and silk appreciative Chorus by Wizkid as he showers praises to his lady and appreciates her body as he promise to spend on it as well. “eledumare Bless You with Body baby o.. Starboy Go bless You with money o,,  Omoge.”

Oya Soco Soco knacks the brain as it lead’s all artiste ready so split verses on the song. The soco vibe seems irresistible anytime wizkid rides with the “Soco Soco hymn”.

Terri who just got signed to the starboy Imprint, Turns Up the vibe as he brings in his Wizkid type of vibezz and set more shilo shilo patua  vibez. Terri is definitely another money bag to watch out for as he gears ready and his verse draws attention from the mind of the listener.

Spotless as well seems to be switching position as his talent got him another Money bag deal with Srar-Boy, This time he didn’t stop only at production but he switches to deliver a Superior shipanpa shipanpa vibezz.

Spotless is also the new signed act – to Starboy Records and with recent interviews with the team on radio stations/TV Station, Spotless will be officially dropping his own official single very soon.

The man with the People and Melodious Voice – Ceeza Milli came trough as he steps into the tune with his party Vibe.  He defines the moment of how the ladies flick on the dance floor and delivers some jaw dropping short but melodious verse.

Ceeza Milli seems to be part of the Starboy family business as Wizkid got him featured on two notable records “Soco” and “Commando”.

The video defines the Energy of the Verses put in Place, also the Starboy Money as Wizkid pulls-Up with a Bullion Van and spays money continuously.  The dancers follows each verse and decided to bring the Shaku shaku trend dance on the video Directed by Clarence Peters.

Without much ado, Soco is another Year warming vibe tune that boosts every speaker once the song is played. We look forward to more Starboy Family collaboration.

APC Releases Details For National Convention

Featured Image

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed that its national convention to elect officers for a new term in the party’s leadership would hold on May 14.

This disclosure was made in a timetable signed by its National Organising Secretary, Osita Izunanso, showing the schedule of activities for its congresses and National Convention.

In the timetable, it is understood that the ward congresses will hold on May 2, while appeal that may arise from the conduct will be entertained on May 3.

The schedule also showed that local government area congresses would hold on May 5, with appeal arising from the exercise fixed for May 7.

It indicated that May 9 is the date for congress at states’ level to elect executive committees of the party in all states in the country.

It fixed May 10 for hearing of appeal that may arise from the conduct of the state congresses.

The ruling party had resolved to hold congresses and convention to elect new officials after President Muhammadu Buhari withdrew his support for an earlier decision to extend the tenure of party executives.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the APC had proposed a one year extension for party executives whose tenure will come to an end in June, less than a year to the 2019 general election, saying it was to avoid a crisis.

Below is a copy of the timetable with full details on the events and their respective dates.APC Releases Details For National Convention
