Ronaldinho Set To Marry Two Women On The Same Day In August

Featured Image

Ronaldinho is now set to marry two women at a wedding ceremony in August to form a rare three-person civil union, Rio de Janeiro newspaper O Dia reports

The former FIFA World Player of the Year and ambassador for Barcelona announced plans to retire in January. He’s 38.

Ronaldinho’s two fiancees, Priscilla Coelho and Beatriz Souza, have been living with the soccer star at his Rio de Janeiro mansion since December, according to O Dia

The Brazilian star, who has told Brazilian media outlets he is “adept” at polygamy, started dating Coelho first around 2013 before meeting Souza in 2016.

Bigamy is illegal in Brazil, and is punishable by up to six years in prison. But a wedding ceremony to two women — one that wouldn’t count as two official marriages — presents a different case. The ceremony is expected to be held at Ronaldinho’s home in Rio de Janeiro.

UEFA Champions League Final More Important Than My Liverpool Future – Simon Mignolet

Featured Image

Liverpool’s out-of-favour goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is putting speculation about his future to one side so it does not interfere with their Champions League final build-up.

The Belgium international has not featured since the end of January after losing his first-team place to Loris Karius and it is possible the 30-year-old could move on this summer.

But Mignolet will not entertain any discussions about his future ahead of Saturday’s clash with Real Madrid in Kiev as he does not want to disturb the feeling of togetherness in the dressing room.

“No individual is bigger than the team, especially when you have the final of the Champions League to play,” he said.

“Even more so you have to play the part the club, the players and supporters need because in the end if you play for a trophy like that any individual is not important.”

Asked whether this could be his last outing in a Liverpool squad, Mignolet added: “That’s not really something I am thinking of. I have three years of a contract.

“There will be a lot of speculation about my name because I am not playing but I am not really thinking about it.”

It’s Been Difficult But I’m Not Thinking Of Leaving Barcelona – Yerry Mina

Featured Image

Yerry Mina insists he is not considering the prospect of leaving Barcelona this summer.

Mina, who joined Barcelona from Palmeiras in January, has had a mixed start to his career at the Camp Nou and it has been reported that the La Liga champions are open to loaning him out this summer, with Liverpool touted as a possible destination.

However, the Colombia defender says he does not plan to leave Barca anytime soon.

“Leaving Barca is not something that goes through my head, nor will it happen,” he told Mundo Deportivo.

“I want to succeed here, learning each day from my team-mates and improving. It’s not easy because Barca is the best team in the world and always requires you to win, but it’s a nice challenge.”

Yerry Mina also  came in for huge criticism for his performance in the 5-4 defeat at Levante and admitted he was anxious before the game and that it had affected him.

“Criticism after the game against Levante? Yes, it affects me. I always want to give 100% but sometimes things don’t go as planned.”

“I arrived in the middle of the season, in a difficult moment, I talked to some of my teammates, but now I have to show why I am here and do it well since the start of the next preseason.

“Compete with Piqué and Umtiti? I know that the beginnings are not easy, but I have all the desire in the world to succeed here.”

Jonathan Walters Admits He Could Quit Burnley This Summer

Featured Image

Jonathan Walters has admitted he could leave Burnley this summer in the search for regular football.

Speaking in Dublin after reporting for international duty ahead of friendlies against France and the USA, the 34-year-old Republic of Ireland international said: “I had a few little niggly injuries, ankle and knee, and then I’ve been fit for a while, but not been picked.

“But I can’t moan. The team is doing well and I suppose that’s part and parcel of it. I’m delighted to come over and hopefully get some minutes and show I’m still a footballer.

“I’ve been fit for a while and in the squad and not been picked. Look, I can’t moan too much. The team is doing ever so well, but I have spoken to the manager and I think I’m available to go if needs be.

“I’ll assess it and see what’s there, but first and foremost, there are these games. I want to get back playing, get minutes under my belt and show I am still playing.”

Jonathan Walters who has decided to continue at international level after missing out on a trip to Russia this summer, revealed his discussion with Dyche was “pretty straightforward”, and is simply looking to get some football under his belt before a frustrating season finally draws to a close.
He said: “He just came in and if I wanted to do it, then it will happen. We’ll assess it, but we’ll see.

“I was more looking forward to getting over and playing these games with not being involved so much. It’s always nice to be involved and actually play because it’s so frustrating when you’re sitting there and not playing.

“It’s hard. You train all week and then not to be involved at the weekend, it’s tough.”

Eight Women Accuse Morgan Freeman Of Sexual Harassment

Featured Image

Multiple women are accusing Morgan Freeman of sexual misconduct, CNN reported Thursday.

Sixteen people — eight of whom say they were victims — described a variety of troubling behaviour on production sets or on promotional tours over Morgan’s career.

The cable network quoted a young production assistant who says Morgan harassed her over a period of months in the summer of 2015, while she was working on his bank heist comedy “Going in Style.”

She accuses Freeman of touching her repeatedly, resting his hand on her lower back or rubbing her lower back without permission, and frequently making comments about her appearance.

The woman said Freeman, who turns 80 next week, continually tried to lift her skirt and kept asking if she was wearing underwear.

Actor Alan Arkin “made a comment telling him to stop. Morgan got freaked out and didn’t know what to say,” the woman said.

A senior member of the “Now You See Me” (2013) production staff told CNN team members knew “not to wear any top that would show our breasts, not to wear anything that would show our bottoms,” or any fitted clothes, if Freeman was coming by them.

Freeman is the latest in a litany of Hollywood celebrities and other high-profile public figures accused of sexual misconduct since revelations about alleged serial abuser Harvey Weinstein sparked the #MeToo movement last year.

He is also accused of staring at women’s breasts, asking a woman how she felt about sexual harassment and asking women to twirl for him.

CNN emailed a “detailed list” of the accusations against Freeman but his spokespeople have not commented. AFP reached out separately but there was no immediate response.

Morgan Freeman Apologises:

The Oscar-winning actor apologized on Thursday to anyone who may have felt “uncomfortable or disrespected” by his behavior, after CNN reported that multiple women have accused the A-list actor of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior on movie sets and in other professional settings.

“Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy,” the actor, now 80, said in a statement sent to The Associated Press by his publicist, Stan Rosenfield. “I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected — that was never my intent.”

Lawmaker Steals Gombe State House Of Assembly Mace

Featured Image

There was confusion in Gombe as a lawmaker representing Akko West constituency in the State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Abubakar allegedly seized the mace and fled the chamber with it during a session.

The incident occurred during an attempt by some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the House to impeach the Minority Leader, Mohammed Haruna, who is a member of the party.

The House is dominated by members of the Peoples Democratic Party.

An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity, said Mr. Abubakar approached the table and took away the Mace during plenary session.

“While they were debating, he approached the table and absconded with the Mace with the help of Mohammed Bello, a member representing Gombe South constituency who held down the Sergeant-at-Arms.

“Meanwhile, police stationed at the gate of the House shot his car tyres in an attempt to stop him, but he managed to escape with a shattered windscreen and flat tyres” the witness added.

Mr Haruna had on May 5, called a press conference to condemn the conduct of APC ward congresses in the state, for which reason some members of his party wanted him removed as Minority Leader.

However, during the process, the impeachment failed as four out of the eight members of the party in the House declined to support it.

Frustrated by the stalemate, Abdullahi, who represents Akko West, grabbed the mace and fled the chamber.

Nigeria Approves N5.1bn For Osun-Ekiti Road Project

Featured Image

The Federal Executive Council (FEC), which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, May 23, approved N5.1billion for the rehabilitation of Ila Orangun – Oke Ila – Ilale Aka road linking Osun to Ekiti state.

This disclosure was made by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, when he briefed State House correspondents on the outcome of the Council’s meeting held at the presidential villa, Abuja.

He said the rehabilitation of the 34 kilometres’ road project which was started by Osun state government was abandoned after about three kilometres work on the project.

Reacting to allegation by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers that Federal Government is plotting to assassinate him, the minister, in his dismissal to the accusation, said that if not because the governor enjoyed immunity from prosecution he would have been summoned by relevant security agency to prove the allegation.

Mr Wike had on Sunday alerted Nigerians that the federal government was plotting to assassinate him in a crowd and claim accidental discharge.

The governor made this known at the third year anniversary thanksgiving service of the Wike administration at Living Faith Church in D-Line, Port Harcourt on Sunday.

He said: “Intelligence report available to us as at this morning indicate that they are plotting to assassinate me in a crowd and claim it was accidental discharge.’’

HoS Plans Salary Increase In Nigeria’s Civil Service

Featured Image

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita, on Wednesday announced that plans are underway to ensure that the nation’s civil service was efficient, productive, incorruptible and citizen-centred.

She made this known at a sensitisation workshop on the 2017-2020 Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan organised for civil servants in the directorate level in Abuja.

Oyo-Ita said the strategy, which has been approved by the Federal Executive Council, had eight priority areas selected based on their potential for impact in the short-term and their relevance to the ERGP implementation roles.

She identified salary review as the first step towards enhancing civil servants’ values.

“We need to launch a salary review of the civil service as a first step to enhance the value proposition of civil servants.

“I am for salary review. We must increase salary. I am not saying this as a union leader but because I am aware of what workers go through,” she said.

She said the plan would also seek to re-design three core-training modules, including Leadership Enhancement and Development Programme as a top talent programme and identify a ‘LEAD-P Presidential Cohort’ to cultivate as next generation of leaders in service.

“The future of the Nigerian civil service is in our hands. It is therefore imperative for us to work collectively towards making the service function better in order to guarantee a sustainable socio-economic development of Nigeria,” she said.
