These Five Men Gang-Raped Two Teenage Girls – Posted Video Online

Featured Image

The Ondo State Police Command has reportedly apprehended five men who were said to have gang-raped two teenage girls, videotaped the crime scene and posted it on social media to further debase their victims.

Vanguard identified the alleged rapists as Olabanji Femi, Abiodun Ayodele, Fadairo Wahab, Bode Akinsiku and Adedayo Adebayo.

It was gathered that the suspects, now in prison custody, tortured their victims before they were gang-raped and mindlessly invited some other men to sleep with the girls.

Sources in the police said the suspects, during interrogation, alleged that the girls stole from one of them after they were invited for a party.

In their bid to punish the girls, the suspects were said to have tortured, gang-raped and videotaped the scene and posted the recording on the social media.

Other sources claimed that the girls denied the allegation of theft levelled against them by the suspects.

It was also learnt that four girls had been lured to a party at the residence of one of the suspects.

All of the four turned up but two sensed danger and left almost immediately. The two girls, who stayed, it was gathered, were the ones who allegedly became victims of the alleged inhuman treatment by the suspects.

Narrating her ordeal, one of the girls said: “They stripped us naked, seized our clothes and recorded the rape scene. They threatened to take us to the street naked.”

“They lured us to the area around noon, held us hostage for several hours during which they did all that pleased them with us. They freed us in the evening and we reported the matter to one of my brothers who vowed to get the video and report the matter to the police.”

“Though family members of the suspects begged us and promised to pay us huge sums of money for the rape and torture we were subjected to, my brother got the video recording and reported the matter to the police”.

The Ondo State Police Command supported the victim’s brother’s claim when it alleged that some powerful individuals were making efforts to frustrate the matter by threatening witnesses.

Femi Joseph, the Command spokesperson,  confirmed the pressure from powerful groups in the town.

“We are facing a lot of pressure on the matter”, he told the news outlet.

Joseph said that some “powerful forces in the town” were doing everything possible to frustrate the case “but the command is determined to get justice for the raped girls”.

“They have tried so much to kill the case but we did not allow that. Now they are working behind the scenes to ensure that they (victims) don’t come to court with the hope that if they don’t come to court, the case would die a natural death”, he added.

“But we assure that the case will be prosecuted and the girls will be adequately protected to ensure that they are present in court. We will ensure their presence in court at the next date of adjournment.

“The girls are not in police custody but safe.

“They have been deliberately taken away from the public glare so as not to be accessible to the people who are pressurising them.

“The girls are not missing. We are facing a lot of pressure on their matter, but, on our part, we are assuring of their safety, nothing will happen to them. This is a case of national interest and we need them to diligently prosecute the case”.

Nadal Wins 11th French Open – Now Has 17 Grand Slam Titles

Featured Image

Rafael Nadal claimed an 11th French Open title on Sunday with a 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 demolition of Dominic Thiem despite a worrying injury scare in the closing stages of the final.

The 32-year-old world number one now has 17 Grand Slam titles, just three behind great rival Roger Federer.

Nadal endured a nervy conclusion to the final, however, when he needed treatment in the fourth game of the third set for a finger injury before sealing victory on a fifth match point when Thiem fired a backhand long.

“It’s really incredible. I played a great match against a great player,” said Nadal.

“I had tough moment in the third set with cramps in my hand. I was very scared but that’s sport — it was very humid.

“To win 11 times here — it’s fantastic and not something I ever dreamed of.”

Nadal joins Australia’s Margaret Court as the only player to win 11 titles at the same major.

Victory also took Nadal’s record at Roland Garros to 86 wins and just two losses.

For Thiem, playing in his first Slam final, it was a tremendous letdown for a player who is the only man to have beaten the Spaniard on clay in the last two years.

With a celebrity audience — including actors Hugh Grant and Tim Roth as well as French stars Marion Cotillard and Jean Dujardin — watching, Nadal flew out of the blocks.

He reeled off the first six points for a 2-0 lead before Thiem settled and repaired the damage for 2-2.

The Austrian speared a 222 km/h ace just for good measure in the fourth game to save a break point.

He saved another two in the 11-minute sixth game, a performance cheered by the crowd who briefly became more animated when glum-looking French football icon Zinedine Zidane was spotted in the stadium.

Despite matching Nadal forehand for forehand, Thiem was undone in the 10th game when three errors handed Nadal the opening set after 52 minutes on court.

A wild, misguided forehand sealed his fate, one of 18 unforced errors to Nadal’s 12 in the set.

In their previous nine meetings, all on clay, the man who took the opening set went on to win the match.

That scenario loomed again with Nadal going to 2-0 in the second set on a fifth break point as Thiem fired another backhand wide.

Thiem wasted a break point in the seventh game as Nadal collected a time violation for taking too long to serve.

The world number one saved it and went on to secure a two sets lead when yet another backhand from the Austrian drifted wide.

Thiem was under the cosh, saving four break points in the first game of the third set before Nadal inevitably broke for 2-1.

Bizarrely, Nadal then halted playing in the fourth game complaining of pain in his left hand and stretching his middle finger.

He still won the game anyway before summoning the doctor and trainer courtside.

Whatever the problem, his dominance remained and a love game took him to 4-2 before he eventially sealed victory on a fifth match point when the Austrian fired another backhand long.

Concerns Mount Over ‘Disappearance’ Of Offa Bank Robbery Gang Leaders

Featured Image

While Nigerians await the outcome of police investigation into the April 5, 2018 Offa, Kwara State armed robbery attack in which 33 persons were killed, there are growing concerns over the whereabouts of the gang leaders, Michael Adikwu and Kayode Opadokun, two of the arrowheads of the Offa bank robbery.

It is understood that the duo – Adikwu, a former police officer, and Opadokun, a son of an Afenifere chieftain – who were arrested along with 20 of their members, have not been paraded by the police since their detention.

Police IG Gets Buhari’s Approval To Arrest Saraki Over Killings In Kwara

In a press statement last Sunday to update the public with details of the investigation into the robbery and the invitation to Senate President Bukola Saraki to explain his alleged links to the gang, Jimoh Moshood, Force Public Relations Officer (PRO), had listed the duo among the 22 suspects arrested so far.

However, when the Police paraded the suspects the same day, Adiku and Opadokun were missing, sparking fears that something untoward had happened.

Offa Robbery: Police Arrests 12 Suspects, Recovers Stolen Items

The fears thickened on Wednesday, when Moshood addressed journalists and the two names went missing on the list of arrested suspects and gang leaders.

The big fear, according to Sahara Reporters, is that both suspects, Adikwu especially, might have been extra-judicially murdered.

Although Moshood told ThisDay last night that the suspected ring leaders were in police custody and helping with the investigation, there were still questions on why they were being kept incommunicado.

“They are alive, helping the police further in the investigation of the bank robbery, including the recovery of 21 AK 47 riffles carted away by their gang during the attack on the Offa Police Divisional Headquarters,” he said in a text message.

Moshood further challenged anyone that said the two suspects had been killed extra-judicially should produce their bodies. “Police don’t kill people, they protect people,” he said.

Sharia Court Jails Man For “Toasting” A Married Woman

Featured Image

A Sharia court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna last week ordered the remand of one Abubakar Mustapha in police custody pending his bail perfection for allegedly enticing and wooing a married woman.

It was gathered that the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges, which contravened Section 226 of the Kaduna State Sharia Penal Code 2002.

But his plea was not taken by the court.

In his ruling on Thursday, the presiding judge, Mallam Musa Sa’ad, held that the accused be remanded in police custody pending its bail perfection.

Earlier, the complainant, Yusuf Sadi, told the court that when his wife went to her parent’s house at Kafanchan to be delivered of a baby, she refused to go back to her matrimonial home, adding that Mustapha started making advances at Nusaiba.

He said that the defendant had once called the complainant and told him that Nusaiba was no longer his wife.

“When I travelled to Kafanchan to see my wife and our baby, Mustapha called my wife to his room and I followed her.

“Upon reaching his room, he shouted at me, saying he only called my wife not me, threatening to deal with me,” he said.

Sadi pleaded with the court to intervene in the matter and compel Mustapha to stop interfering in his marriage.

He also prayed to the court to assist him in bringing back his wife to their matrimonial home.

NAFDAC Seizes 35 Containers Of Tramadol At Ports

Featured Image

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has said it has seized not fewer than 35 containers of tramadol at various ports in the country.

Prof Moji Adeyeye, Director General, NAFDAC, said this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday.

She said nine out of the seized containers of tramadol were released to NAFDAC by the Nigeria Custom Service (NCS), and had been destroyed by her agency.

“We are seriously working with the custom on this and each time they seize any container, they usually invite us to come and see the containers with tramadol.

“So far, 35 containers were seized and only nine of them have been handed over to NAFDAC which we have destroyed,” she said.

She, however, decried the delay by the custom in handing over the rest of the containers to her agency.

The NAFDAC boss stated that tramadol was a restricted drug but had been abused by Nigerian youths who use it without prescription.

According to Adeyeye, who is also a professor of pharmacology, the drug destroys children’s brain thereby threatening the future generation of the nation.

She lauded the present administration for placing an embargo on codeine, which she said, like tramadol, should only be given only by prescription as done in advanced country.

The director general said the agency was more determined and committed than ever to stem the menace of illicit and fake drugs in the country.

Wizkid And Shatta Wale Unite On Stage At Ghana Meets Naija 2018 (Watch Video)

Featured Image

To the surprise of many fans, popular Nigerian act, Wizkid invited Ghana’s Shatta Wale on stage during the former’s performance at this year’s Ghana Meets Naija.

Bear in mind that Shatta had once threatened Wizkid, warning him not to come to Ghana.

Trouble was lit then when the self-acclaimed king of Ghanaian dancehall music criticized the Nigerian music sensation.

During an interview with Kasapa FM, Shatta had expressed his displeasure over how Ghanaians, especially celebrities, put Wikzid on a pedestal.

Wizkid Reacts To Shatta Wale’s Threat As He Finally Touched-Down Ghana (WATCH VIDEO)

According to the Ghanaian dancehall artiste, there is nothing exceptional about the afrobeats singer. He said Wizkid should be starstruck when he sees him (Shatta Wale).

“I will not see Wizkid and be stunned, I rather want him to see me and be amazed because I don’t see anything extraordinary about him, even though he claims to the best African artiste”, he said.

The issue had stoked controversy on social media with many wondering why Shatta Wale would make such a statement especially when Wizkid is known worldwide.

But last night, at one of Ghana’s biggest event, GhanaMeetsNaija, the duo apparently reconciled and performed together on Stage.

Wizkid earlier gave Shatta Wale a shout out during the beginning of his performance but that did not serve notice of a possible reunion at the main event.

Midway through his performance, Wizkid paused and invited Shatta Wale on to the stage even though the latter was not billed to perform on the night.

Shocked by the act, the audience screamed, stood on their chairs, pulled out their phones to capture the moment.

Pleasantries were exchanged between the duo on stage after which Wale performed his hit song ‘Gringo’ and exited the stage for the ‘Starboy’ to continue with his performance.

Is Atiku Really Broke?

Is Atiku Really Broke? By Phrank Shaibu

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

Recently, some bloggers ‎and online platforms went to town with an obviously orchestrated story that former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar was broke. The linchpin of the story was that the front line politician was so broke th‎at he cannot fund his presidential ambition for the 2019 race.

This piece was written by Phrank Shaibu. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of

More laughable is the insinuation that Atiku, Turakin Adamawa had gone cap in hand begging the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Nwike to help finance the said presidential ambition‎. How ridiculous can people go in the bid to satisfy their paymasters?

Interestingly, the authors of the said story, which is akin to the Onitsha market literature and the ‘Eze Goes To School series’, contend that the recent face-off between Intels, a company said to be owned by Atiku and the Federal Government‎ was the reason for being flat broke.

And to prove that the Wazirin Adamawa was actually bankrupt, the said tale bearers claimed that the American University of Nigeria (AUN), another entity in which he owns was unable to pay salaries. They further insinuated that there was likely to be a mass exodus of staff at the university.

Plausible as these claims may seem, commonsense dictates that anyone intending to go to town with such piece of information ought to have conducted a basic test as to if there was any truth to the claim. In this instance, they were so much in a hurry to ‘damage’ the reputation of the former ‎Vice President that truth was easily sacrificed.
Perhaps, if they had bothered to cross check, they would have found out that Intels’ so called face-off‎ with the Federal Government lasted only for a while. And that Intels paid the fine imposed by the government despite the obvious fact that it was trumped up.

Unknown to these hired puppets, Intels has since resumed operations and it’s profit line fully restored. Besides, the impression given that the company is Atiku’s cash cow is entirely wrong as the Wazirin’s businesses span several sectors of the economy.

As for the so called non-payment or delay of salaries at the university, a few points‎ need to be elucidated. First, there’s no truth in the claim that the former VP is unable to pay salaries. Neither is there any planned exit by the staff as most of them know that the American University of Nigeria pay living wages and therefore would not want to leave.

Perhaps those indicted or afraid that their malfeasance may be exposed are thinking of leaving the university. And this is to be expected considering that the ongoing probe instituted by the new management is rather very comprehensive and likely to expose those who have fed fat from the Visitor’s generosity‎ without any fear of God.

As it turned out, the management of the university allowed some unwholesome practices to take place. Local staff collected expatriate salaries, staff population more than that of the students and a lot of people went on vacation abroad with the school footing the bill.

The so-called delay in salaries is, therefore, the outcome of an ongoing probe and not that of bankruptcy. Because the authorities of the school want to ascertain those involved in the sharp practices and the extent of the rot.
For an institution without a backlog of unpaid salaries, which pays salaries promptly and takes staff welfare as top priority, to be ‘owing’ all of a sudden does not indicate that it is broke. Something more fundamental must be the problem, which, if our tale bearers had bothered to check, they would have quickly uncovered.

But more ludicrous is the assertion that Atiku was lobbying Wike for money to fund his ambition to contest the 2019 presidential election. How weird can people’s imagination be? To think that the wazirin Adamawa was so broke that he had to depend on slush funds from Rivers State?

Perhaps, it is necessary to explain to these naysayers that this is not the first time the Adamawa politician would be contesting for public office. He contested and won the governorship of Adamawa before becoming the running mate to former President Olusegun Obasanjo. And, he was Vice President twice.

The former customs boss has also ran once as the presidential candidate of a major political party apart from other attempts at clinching the presidency. He is no stranger to presidential politics and very well knows what it takes to run for such a high office.

To assert that Atiku is broke and begging for money is rather cheap. And leaves a sour taste in the mouth. ‎With an expansive thriving business empire, international contact and exposure as well as a massive political structure, it is clear, even to the blind, that the man does not need to enter into unholy financial alliances, mortgage his conscience and the fate of millions of Nigerians to achieve his objective. More so, since he has openly declared that the presidential race was not a do or die affair.

But it is clear that the puppet master and his cohorts in the All Progressives Congress (APC) are behind the wicked fable having traversed a similar path to get to power. So, they imagine ‎that no serious opposition contender can win an election in Nigeria without the heist from Rivers State.

Nigerians would recall the alleged inglorious role played by former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi to get APC into power. Apart from President Muhammadu Buhari, whose election was heavily funded by Amaechi, at least four APC governors have openly thanked the Transport Minister for having a deep pocket and supporting their campaigns.
But, Nigeria cannot be said to be better for it‎ as the APC government is run more as a cabal, bugged down by conspiracies and unholy compromises, a scenario that any experienced politician, albeit a patriotic statesman like Atiku, would not want to contemplate.

By and large‎, it is clear that there’s no truth in the claim that Atiku is broke. Neither is there any plan by him to subordinate his ambition to a cabal from anywhere.

It is also obvious that the ruling party is jittery and therefore hired some urchins to engage in a tale by moonlight. In the end, what we have is smoke without fire; a rather belligerent exercise to nowhere!

Family Of Five, Friend, Die Mysteriously On First Night In New House

Featured Image

Residents in Sagamu, Ogun State were shocked on Wednesday night as a family of five and an unidentified friend of the family reportedly died mysteriously the very first night they packed inside their new house located along Aiyepe Road.

It was gathered that the family had just moved from their rented apartment into the property belonging to them and were said to have died the very first night inside the house.

A family friend who spent the night with them also lost his life.

On Thursday, sources said that there was a possibility that the house might have been fumigated with “killer chemical.”

One of the sympathizers, who accompanied the bodies to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, said the owner of the house, a borehole driller, just spent a night inside the new house.

The sympathiser, who identified himself as Tony, said they noticed a foul odour, on Thursday morning, which attracted them to the building.

He said they (neighbours) raised the alarm over the development, which attracted the attention of the Police.

Their remains were evacuated and taken to the morgue of the hospital.

Hundreds of sympathisers besieged the Accident and Emergency Unit of the hospital, wailing over the ugly incident.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident, vowing that the Police would get to the root of the matter.

Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said investigation into the matter had commenced to unravel the mystery behind the incident.

MKO Abiola: Osun State Declares #June12 Public Holiday

Featured Image

The Osun State Government has declared June 12 as public holiday to mark democracy day in the state.

The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr Obawale Adebisi, who made this known in a statement on Saturday in Osogbo, said the public holiday was in line with a policy of the state to observe June 12 as Democracy Day every year.

MKO Abiola: Dear Nigerians, Here’s Why There Might Be No Public Holiday This #June12

Adebisi said the present administration had since inception been observing June 12 as Democracy Day in remembrance of the 1993 presidential election, which was adjudged the freest and fairest in the history of Nigeria.

The commissioner said Gov. Rauf Aregbesola had always maintained “June 12, 1993 was the day democracy was born in Nigeria.

“Aregbesola’s stance on June 12 as Democracy Day had been justified by President Muhammadu Buhari’s declaration of the day as Nigeria’s democracy day instead of May 29.

“We also commend the President for honouring Chief MKO Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election with a posthumous award of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR).

“The state government of Osun commends the President on this righteous step of honouring June 12 and key players of the 1993 presidential election, 25 years after.

“The Government of the State of Osun has, therefore, declared Tuesday, June 12 a public holiday,’’ Adebisi said.

It will be recalled that Buhari had on Wednesday announced that effective 2019, Nigeria’s Democracy Day, marked every May 29 for the past 18 years, would be celebrated on June 12.
