Man Allegedly Beats Wife To Death Over N200

For allegedly beating his wife to death over N200, Henry Anaele was on Wednesday remanded in prison for the next 30 days by an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The Chief Magistrate, O.O. Olatunji, said the accused should be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons pending advice from the State Director of Public prosecutions (DPP).

Mr Anaele, 40, whose plea was not taken, had appeared on a charge for murder.

Earlier, a police inspector, Cousin Adams, told the court that the accused had committed the offence on June 15, at about 11.45 p.m, at No. 72, Goodness
Estate, Satellite Town, Lagos.

Mr Adams said that the accused had found out that someone gave his wife– Chinyere, 35, the sum of N200, which did not go down well
with him.

“This angered the accused who beat up his wife to death for collecting the money,’’ he said.

The offence contravened Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 which prescribes a death sentence for offenders.

The magistrate adjourned the case until Aug. 6.

5 Teachers Sacked After Impregnating SS3 Pupil In Kebbi

Featured Image

Five teachers of the Polytechnic Academic Staff Secondary School, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State have been sacked for having sexual relationship with an SS3 student of the school which led to her getting pregnant.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports on Wednesday that the girl was also expelled from the school.

Sources confirmed that the decision to dismiss the five teachers followed the recommendation of a committee set up by the school to investigate the matter.

“The committee submitted report on Monday and recommended that all the five teachers should be dismissed from service immediately.

“The management have dismissed the teachers and the victim was also expelled from the school.

“When the committee interrogated each of the teachers, they confessed that they had been having sexual relationship with the victim separately. So, they were sacked immediately, based on the committee’s recommendations,” the source added.

NAN gathered that the affected teachers had forwarded an appeal of their dismissal to the school’s management board.

The principal of the school, Malam Muhammed Mahuta, was said to be in hospital for weeks before the incident; but his deputy, Malam Oumar Woulandakoye, confirmed the development, adding that the affected teachers had filed an appeal against their dismissal.

“I advise you to wait till the final report of the School Board, because I have just received their memo stating that they were going to sit on the matter tomorrow (Thursday),” he told NAN.

Barcelona Denies Former President Bought Eric Abidal Illegal Liver for Transplant

Featured Image

FC Barcelona have publicly denied claims that they illegally obtained an organ donor for Eric Abidal’s liver transplant back in 2012.

Back in 2012, official statement was that the liver was sourced from Abidal’s cousin, Gerard, but a report during the week appears to rubbish Barcelona’s claim.

El Confidential leaked transcripts of supposed phone calls between former Barcelona president Sandro Rosell and an unknown person, alleged to have taken place back in 2017.

In such transcripts, Rossell (who was arrested last year for money laundering) admits that he bought the liver off the black market.

“We bought an illegal liver from this guy, and we sold it was from his cousin, it was from the cousin! We paid him two years of contract, what he had left,” reveals that unknown speaker, followed by a response of agreement from Rossell: “Yes, yes, yes.”

Of course, these claims are nothing more than claims, and nothing more has been made of it all as of yet, but the club have chosen to release a statement on the matter.

“FC Barcelona denies any irregular fact in liver transplantation as it has done the interested party and the Hospital Clinic.”

“The information disseminated omits a transcendent event such as the file of this case by a court in Barcelona, dated May 18, a circumstance that harms the honour of Eric Abidal, of all the organisations linked to transplants, Barcelona and former president Sandro Rosell.”

Eric Abidal released a statement himself, condemning the reports:

My cousin Gerard donated his liver to save my life and for this I am truly grateful to him,” he said on Twitter.

“Existing procedures and protocols were followed at all times and all the medical documentation that proves so is available.”

Barcelona added: “The club are saddened by the lack of rigor in the spreading of such information about such a sensitive issue.”

Court Directs National Assembly To Commence Impeachment Process Against Buhari

Featured Image

The Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo on Wednesday, July 4, granted an order of mandamus to compel the National Assembly to begin impeachment process against President Muhammadu Buhari, based on some alleged constitutional breaches.

According to The Punch, Justice Maureen Onyetenu gave the ex parte order earlier today, following a motion filed before her by the Chairman, Nigeria Bar Association, Ilesa branch, Mr. Kanmi Ajibola; and a human rights activist, Mr. Suleiman Adeniyi.

Some months ago, the activists had in a written note informed the Senate and the House of Representatives to begin impeachment process against the President, based on the continuous killings and spending without lawmakers’ approval.

Some hours ago, the duo approached the court seeking an order to compel the National Assembly to begin the process following their refusal to impeach Buhari based on the activists’ letters.

They alleged that the President did not possess a certificate to be qualified as a President and should be impeached based on this and other alleged impeachable offences.

The judge, in her ruling, granted the leave to compel the National Assembly to commence impeachment process against the President.

It Would Be Great To Have Cristiano Ronaldo At Juventus – Blaise Matuidi

Featured Image

Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi has admitted that he would be happy if Cristiano Ronaldo joined the club, amid reports that Ronaldo is set for a spectacular departure from Real Madrid.

Speculation has been mounting that the Serie A Champions have prepared an enormous bid to lure Cristiano Ronaldo to Turin, and Matuidi was asked for his opinion on the links during a press conference ahead of France’s World Cup clash with Uruguay.

The French midfielder is quoted by Portuguese outlet O Jogo as saying: “I’m not going to lie it would be just great.

“It would be great to have one of the best players in the world with Juventus in the same club that I am.”

However, he was quick to move on from the rumors, preferring to speak about his country’s upcoming quarter final match with Uruguay, for which Matuidi will be suspended as a result of accumulating too many yellow cards.

As for Ronaldo’s move to Juventus, O Jogo claim that the deal is already agreed to, and Ronaldo has already accepted the proposal. Juventus are reportedly set to pay Real Madrid a fee of €100m.

I Was Never Close To Joining Manchester United – Fabinho

Featured Image

New Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has said he was never near joining Premier League rivals Manchester United, he has said.

“I was never close to signing for Manchester United, no,” he told FourFourTwo magazine.

“I heard things said about it, but the truth is it was never a strong possibility.

“I won’t deny there were a few conversations about my situation with Monaco, but there was never an official offer from United.”

Speaking in the August 2018 issue of FourFoutTwo, Fabinho says: “Yes, [it was] very easy. I was sad to leave Monaco, a club that gave me a lot of great moments, but in football sometimes you need new challenges and I thought it was time to move on.

#WorldCupWith360nobs: Colombia Coach Jose Pekerman Accuses England Players Of Diving

Featured Image

Colombia head coach Jose Pekerman has accused England’s players of going to ground too easily during their World Cup last-16 clash.

Colomba took the game to extra time after salvaging a goal in the final stages of the contest through defender Yerry Mina, before England won it on penalties.

Harry Kane‘s penalty looked like being the difference prior to that 93rd-minute header, awarded after Carlos Sanchez wrestled the opening goalscorer to the ground.

Jose Pekerman claims that his side were hard done by, as England’s players attempted to con the official.

“Players fall in the box, they collide and fall,” he told reporters after the match. “You have to try and stand in the shoes of these players. They are subject to situations which shouldn’t really be present in football.

“These interruptions are bad. When there are so, so many fouls and interruptions I think that’s not good. We have to try and find the right balance so that football can happen and the two sides can play the match with good intentions.

“We shouldn’t only look at Colombian players, people should look at England players. I wish I was wrong, but I think from the next match England will be much more careful.

“Today we were on the receiving end of this but I hope it won’t happen again. It’s been absolutely obvious, too obvious.”

Real Madrid Deny Reaching An Agreement With PSG For Kylian Mbappe

Featured Image

Real Madrid have  once again been forced to release a statement to deny rumors that they have agreed a world-record deal with PSG for forward Kylian Mbappe.

The denial from Real Madrid comes 24 hours after denying separate reports that fellow PSG star Neymar is on his way to the Bernabeu.

Following weeks of speculation, it was claimed in France overnight that a £239m agreement had been reached between Madrid and PSG for Mbappe’s signature.

A statement on Real Madrid’s official website has poured cold water on these claims, however, with no offers being tabled for the 19-year-old.

“Given the information published in the last few hours referring to an alleged agreement between Real Madrid and PSG for player Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid says they are flatly false,” the statement read.

“Real Madrid has not made any offers to PSG or the player and regrets the dissemination of this type of information that is not contrasted with the parties.”

Jimoh Moshood: Officers Killed In Abuja Shows Why Police Won’t Disband SARS

The Police Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, ACP Jimoh Moshood, has disclosed that the killing of seven of its officers by unknown gunmen in Abuja has shown the need for the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS).

NOW TRENDING: Boko Haram: 10 Soldiers “Feared Dead” At Nigeria-Chad Border

While there has since been a campaign on social media calling for the scrapping of SARS over alleged excesses, about seven police officers were shot dead by unknown gunmen on Monday, June 2, at Galadimawa Junction, just off the international airport road in Abuja.

The assailants, it was learnt, who were in a vehicle, shot the men in a surprise attack and zoomed off after the dastardly act.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, Moshood said efforts were in place to arrest those who killed the officers in the line of duty.

“Investigation has commenced into the killing of the seven policemen by armed bandits,” he said.

Mr Moshood, a deputy commissioner of police, said the force would not leave any stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to book.

“The killing of the policemen goes a long way to prove that the call for the disbandment of the SARS is not justified,” he said.

Sexual Harassment And Generation Of Idiots

Sexual Harassment And Generation Of Idiots By Victor C. Ariole

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

Idiots relate the opposite way humans ought to relate, and Albert Einstein once wondered if the crave for artificial intelligence would not make humans turn to generation of idiots. After pondering on how a particular race conducted themselves – not the black race as he was not in their sphere then – feared the day such race will take over the world.

This piece was written by Victor C. Ariole. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of

That was over l00 years ago and that particular race was in disarray and was not relating effectively within and without its sphere. It was like a spiral harassment society; that is, from a spin-like movement and in a “tao” form – endless pathway – you harass anyone out of the sphere your capacity allows you to control and those who cannot find a way turn a “fly” into the ears of any bull around; so the bull turns an uncontrolled harasser as the fly keep on humming in its ear; so also the libido problem of men that has turned some of them bulls in their restless mood and calls for sympathy, not total condemnation.

A bull is an idiot and it is pushed by what is inside its ear to cause damages just like a harasser is pushed by what is in-between the legs that needed to be tamed in sympathy not condemnation as it is caused by either the environment or factors beyond his knowledge. Like I read from MJO Mustapha’s “fall of the family” that laboratory rats remain resolutely heterosexual until disturbed by bright lights, loud noises and extreme overcrowding. Such factors play in human beings but are avoided by their feelings; so, they cannot be idiots; they should find a way to avoid it.

Among humans, interactions, relationships, dialogues and government come to reduce such interferences that could lead to humans turning to idiots. Human relations are better evaluated in a heterosexual set-up so as to control latent or dormant excessive behaviour waiting for opportuned time to express itself like Sigmund Freud mentioned in his study of self, ego and superego or suppressed traits that explode as conflagration in the future.

Sexual Harassment is both from male and female victims’ perspectives making them idiots or even the society they live in as society of idiots. Basically, when someone is acting as a locoparent – not as someone said, observing a fiduciary duty – there should not be sexual negotiation whether hetero, homo or lesbi, till that locoparent status is terminated or vacated. All the sexualities, if untamed, get to bullish harassment.

Lesbianism could even be worst in bullish attitude than heterosexual and I witnessed that in Barbados on the 27th of October 2006 when two ladies hijacked a bus, not expected of them to enter by their status, just to rape a fine looking plump girl and the bus conductor, a man, connived with them.

Again, when I was a school boy in Cote d’Ivoire, the matrilineal bent of the people made the then President to care much about females and he built exclusive palatial school for them in Yamoussoukro for better upbringing of women leaders and I remember a Nigerian family by name Sbeiro whose girls went to that school free of charge, just by merit of passing the entrance examination. After some years of operation some of the girls couldn’t stand the seclusion; and sexual harassment by girls against girls or boys became the order of the day to a point surgery was to be carried out in two of the girls who suffered banana lock-in in their private part as they couldn’t find a quick partner to have it with. On that, the president quickly built another palatial school for boys close to them to encourage relationship of both sexes. Seclusion is even more dangerous for a person with weak family background than early mix-up interaction. Some Nigerian schools still have such seclusion and it makes for easy prey of the girls or the boys, as they are quickly taken by insurgents without either female cry or male resistance.

Reading Onikepo Braithwaite who stated that her son said that it happens also abroad but mostly unreported, a lady professor, now a university pro-chancellor in UK, Susan Bassnet says that during their school days their parents taught them how to smartly ward off sexual harassment without making it a noisy issue. To Susan, it has always been there and needs mutual understanding to tame it; it is not supposed to be issue of “U.S.” and “them.”

The truth is that men and women are wired differently on how they sense the risk in their sexual predating exercise. It is just that Monica is the name that comes up in the two examples I feel like giving but it is not always “Monica”. A former most powerful president admitted that he took a risk on his own Monica but that it was consensual and that he limited his risk to cunninglingus whereas the Monica, in question, was just having fun, twisting around the most powerful president. For the Nigerian Monica the disturbing language was “marks for 5 rounds of sex.” And it goes to say what motivation and risk mean for the two sexes – the “1 – can” motivation, and the valueless risk of consenting or not consenting. In the two cases, the women remain intellectually stronger than the men; and, so, who says the woman is a weaker sex.

I have overheard Chimamanda say that Adam ought to be blamed for not taking the responsibility of saying “NO” to Eve who made the suggestion of them eating the forbidden fruit. Chimamanda was insinuating that all started when Adam’s weakness was not able to make him say “NO” to Eve. In effect, she was trying to prove that Eve was stronger than Adam, and one expected the world to think along that line and understand that when a woman decides to go on a rampage, the man is helpless as his brain fails to connect in evaluating the great risk but gets fixated in seeing “his woman” of the moment respect and succumb to him.

In effect, it should not be that of lecturer – student activities because the Igbos say “no matter how a dog sees the joy of cracking a bone, if you tie such a bone on its neck, the idiocy in the dog will fly away and it knows that such bone is not meant for cracking”; dog does not eat a bone tied to its neck.

Even when men and women must interact, it must be devoid of idiocy. An 86 year old man, still kicking, tells me that the basic rule is that man must be allowed to be seeing women, even at far distance; and that women should be allowed to hear men talk; as both derive joy in it respectively, and that the touching aspect should be what must be negotiated. A good proof of it is that a deaf woman is harsher than a blind woman and a blind man is harsher than a deaf man. The 86 year-man said it is the norm for men to derive joy in seeing women and it is the joy of woman to be talked to in sweat manner.

The Americans would say, the easiest way to negotiate is for the man to ask to “dock or moor” and expect a response from the woman or stay away; that is, “you have the sea, would you allow me to dock.” There is no need for harassment as God created them man and woman and that they should live in harmony and that even in disagreement, love should prevail. On campus, it should be more of locoparent relationship and the predators whether lecturers, men or women should observe the sanctity of the milieu – knowledge production ground, not idiocy production ground.

Eric Many Drags Runtown To Court For Releasing New Song

Featured Image

Nigerian singer, Runtown and his former record label, Eric Many are in another fresh legal tussle as the label dragged the singer to court on charges of contempt of court.

In a statement signed by the Eric Many’s General Manager, Johnson Adumike, he pointed out that the need to press charges against Runtown is necessary because the singer breached their recording contract and also disobeyed court order by releasing a new song.

Read Statement Below:-

‘While our Contract is supposed to fall due for expiration on 22nd June 2018, Ericmany has an outstanding balance of about N266,694,755.08 to recoup on our investment and expenses on Runtown.

He also failed to deliver an Album which the Contract requires him to deliver to us during the Contract Period. Under the contract if there is outstanding money or Album by 22nd June, 2018, end of the Contract Period, the Contract enters into an Option Period of one year.

Runtown has neither honoured the Contract Period nor the Option Period. Following our application, Abuja High Court made an Interim Order on 10th May, 2018, barring Runtown from any performance or recording of any song outside our Contract until the issues are sorted out by Court.

‘The Judge also ordered that status quo be maintained until our Motion praying for this protection is decided. Yet on 27th June, 2018 Runtown released a new song outside our Contract.

Determined to follow due process in our dispute with Runtown we have filed a Contempt of Court case against him. Following Court Order to serve Runtown by publication in the Punch, our Notice of Contempt of Court is published at page 22 of The Punch Newspaper today.

If he still fails to respect Court Order by removing the song, we will follow up with the next steps to ensure Runtown is committed to prison, since he is not above the law.

‘If he felt the Court Order is wrong, his lawyer has already appeared in Court and filed papers. It is for his lawyer to show the Court that the Order is wrong.

It is not open to Runtown to ignore Court Order. It is important to state that we are at home with the fact that Runtown does not intend to continue working with us.

We are not in any confusion about that. We have therefore not asked the Court to order him to continue working with us. Our case is for recovery of our money and the Album he owes in line with the Contract. It is the duty of both sides to abide by Court Orders. So Ericmany will continue to rely on due process until we get justice’.

A 21-year-old man, Abdulateef Babatunde, is to die by hanging for robbing two men including a policeman of their motorcycles at gunpoint.

Justice Dele Omotoso of an Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday found Babatunde guilty of the charge of the two count charge of armed robbery preferred against him.

According to the charge sheet, Babatunde on or about June 16, 2016 along NTA Road, Ado-Ekiti, robbed one Sgt. Kayode Babatimilehin of his Bajaj motorcycle with registration number GED 550 QA.

The convict, while committing the robbery, was armed with offensive weapons including a gun.

Babatunde allegedly stopped Babatimilehin and asked for his ticket but the policeman told the convict that he was not a commercial motorcycle operator.

The policeman said the convict brought out a locally-made pistol pointed it at him and dispossessed him of the bike.

He said the convict was later arrested after being given a hot chase by some bike riders and was taken to Okesa Police Station.

Ganiyu, in his evidence, told the court that he gave the convict a ride on his motorcycle from Egbewa area heading to Abuja Quarters in Ado Ekiti but the convict asked that he be dropped in a lonely place.

The victim told the court that three men emerged from the bush in the area and pointed guns at him and all of them made away with his motorcycle.

Ganiyu explained that he later heard that the convict had been arrested and the motorcycle recovered from him.

The prosecution called six witnesses and tendered exhibits including the stolen motorcycle, statement of the convict and one locally made pistol while defence did not call any witness.

Obasanjo Assumes Duties As Academic Facilitator At NOUN

An erstwhile president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, is now a bona fide staff of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), as he inspected his office space at the institution’s Abeokuta Study Centre in Ogun State on Tuesday, in his capacity as a facilitator.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Abdalla Adamu, had soon after the former president’s graduation with PhD in January, appointed him as a facilitator.

According to him, a facilitator is a part-time academic coordinator for students in the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system which open universities operate.

Mr Obasanjo, the first PhD graduate of the university, received his certificate in Christian Theology during NOUN’s 7th Convocation ceremony earlier this year in Abuja.

He assumed duties as academic facilitator, on Tuesday, and was conducted round his office at the institution’s Abeokuta Study Centre in Ogun State by the center Director, Prof. Ibrahim Salawu.

Mr Salawu, who led the former president, in company of other members of staff on a familiarisation tour of the centre, said it was a pleasure having him around as a colleague in the academia.

In his remark, Obasanjo expressed satisfaction at the office space allotted him and promised to work for the progress of the university.
