Former Real Madrid player and current coach Guti has announced he is leaving the club to move to Besiktas.
The 41-year-old had previously been in the running to replace Zinedine Zidane at the Santiago Bernabeu prior to the appointment Julen Lopetegui.
“Today I want to thank Real Madrid my home, for all the years that I enjoy as a footballer and as a coach,” he wrote on his Instagram page.
“I will join Besiktas in a few days, which is also my home, as their assistant manager to continue my professional growth.
“I am grateful to Besiktas for the affection and confidence they have deposited in me, I will return it with lots of hard work and commitment.
“My family and I are looking forward to starting this new adventure in Istanbul! Let’s do this!”
Guti leaves his role as coach of Madrid’s U19 side to move to Turkey, where he spent the final seasons of his playing career in 2010-11.
