Jimoh Moshood: Officers Killed In Abuja Shows Why Police Won’t Disband SARS
The Police Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, ACP Jimoh Moshood, has disclosed that the killing of seven of its officers by unknown gunmen in Abuja has shown the need for the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS).
While there has since been a campaign on social media calling for the scrapping of SARS over alleged excesses, about seven police officers were shot dead by unknown gunmen on Monday, June 2, at Galadimawa Junction, just off the international airport road in Abuja.
The assailants, it was learnt, who were in a vehicle, shot the men in a surprise attack and zoomed off after the dastardly act.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, Moshood said efforts were in place to arrest those who killed the officers in the line of duty.
“Investigation has commenced into the killing of the seven policemen by armed bandits,” he said.
Mr Moshood, a deputy commissioner of police, said the force would not leave any stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to book.
“The killing of the policemen goes a long way to prove that the call for the disbandment of the SARS is not justified,” he said.
