23 Nigerian Soldiers Declared Missing After Boko Haram Attack

Featured Image

Twenty-three Nigerian soldiers are missing after Boko Haram jihadists ambushed a convoy in the remote northeast of the country, said military and civilian vigilante sources on Saturday.

“Up until now 23 troops have not been accounted for. They include five officers and 18 soldiers,” a military officer in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, told AFP on condition of anonymity.

“They came under attack from Boko Haram terrorists in Balagallaye village in the Boboshe area outside Bama,” the officer said.

The officer said that on Friday afternoon the soldiers had received a report that “around 100 terrorists” had gathered in Boboshe and that the “troops mobilised to fight them”.

“Only three vehicles have made it back to Bama, the remaining eight and scores of soldiers are still missing. Their fate is still unclear,” he said.

“We lost eight vehicles. That’s a lot,” the officer added.

A member of the civilian militia confirmed the officer’s account, saying that “dozens” of soldiers are still missing.

“It is not known if they escaped into the bush, were killed or captured,” he said.

“You know it is now rainy season and the roads are water-logged. The convoy got stuck in the mud and Boko Haram opened fire. It was a perfect ambush and the soldiers were on the defensive,” he said.

“So far three vehicles have returned. The other eight have either been destroyed or captured by Boko Haram.”

The group’s Islamist insurgency has devastated the region since 2009, leaving at least 20,000 dead, displacing more than two million others and triggering a humanitarian crisis.

Despite persistent attacks, President Muhammadu Buhari maintains that Nigeria is in a “post-conflict stabilisation phase”.

The former military ruler came to power three years ago on a promise to defeat Boko Haram, which is aligned to the Islamic State group and threatens security in the Lake Chad region.

But while there have been clear military gains since a counter-insurgency was launched in 2015, suicide bombings and raids remain a constant threat, particularly to civilians.

Eden Hazard Finally Drops Hint About Leaving Chelsea

Featured Image

After much speculations, Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has dropped a hint that he could leave the club after saying it “might be time to discover something different,” following Belgium’s win against England in the World Cup third-place playoff.

The 27-year-old, who scored as Belgium beat England 2-0 in Saturday’s World Cup third-place play-off, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.

“After six wonderful years at Chelsea it might be time to discover something different,” he told reporters after Belgium achieved their best World Cup finish.

“I can decide if I want to stay or go, but Chelsea will make the final decision, if they want to let me go. You know my preferred destination.”

Hazard has won the Premier League title twice with Chelsea, in 2014-15 and 2016-17, since joining from Lille six seasons ago.

Bear in mind that Chelsea sacked manager Antonio Conte on Friday and replaced him with fellow Italian Maurizio Sarri, within 24 hours.

The Blues then announced the signing of Italy midfielder Jorginho from Napoli.

Is Timaya Shaking Tables? – “Baby Daddies Better Fathers Than Lot Of Husbands”

There’s no gainsaying that quite a number of married men wouldn’t take for granted a statement credited to popular hip hop star, Ebitimi Odom, better known by the stage name, Timaya, where he was quoted to have said that “baby daddies are better fathers than lot of husbands.”

According to a report published on Saturday by The Punch, the ‘Dem mama’ crooner fondly nicknamed Egberi Papa by his teeming fans, who spoke exclusively with the news outlet, thinks “while many young men, who became fathers by impregnating their unmarried lovers show more care to babies produced through such copulations, many married men lacked the capacity to show love or affection to their children.”

He further said that “beyond what many people actually think, baby daddies, as men, who father children without having married the mothers are often referred to, have proven to be better than those that had consummated their unions.”

His words: “People fail to understand that a lot of baby daddies are better fathers than a lot of husbands. The kind of role I play in my children’s life, I don’t think some husbands do that.

“I have time for my children, I love my children but some married men don’t even have time for their kids. They don’t show their kids love, they don’t know what it means to be a father. It doesn’t have anything to do with money; it’s about love and attention.

Croatia’s PM, Politicians Wear Country’s Jerseys To Work Amid #WorldCup Final Celebration

With barely less than a day to the 2018 FIFA World Cup final in Russia between France and Croatia, photos have gone viral on social media where some apparently elated politicians in Croatia can be seen wearing the team jersey to work.

The Croatian team left many football fans and pundits stunned as they fought their way to the final of the tournament despite arriving in Russia last month as under dogs.

To show support to their country and as a way of motivating the players, the nation’s cabinet members donned red and white jerseys on Thursday to one of their cabinet meetings in celebration after they eclipsed England in a 2-1 victory – which granted them the entry into the FIFA World Cup 2018 final.

“What happened yesterday in Moscow is the best possible promotion for the country on a global level. This is success for a small country with huge heart,” the PM said at the beginning of the cabinet session, according to Reuters.

Adeosun’s NYSC Certificate Is As Fake As Buhari’s Integrity

Featured Image

Adeosun’s NYSC certificate is as fake as Buhari’s integrity By Farooq Kperogi

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

The moral outrage over Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun’s obviously forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) exemption certificate, which the Nigerian presidency has chosen to strategically ignore in hopes that it will peter out, dramatizes, in more ways than one, the spuriousness of President Muhammadu Buhari’s self-serving claims to embodying “integrity.”

This piece was written by Farooq Kperogi. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

Any person who is obsessed with proclaiming his “integrity” at the slightest opportunity but won’t investigate, much less fire, shady characters he has appointed to work with- and for- him can’t possibly be truly a person of integrity. From PTF to The Buhari Organization (TBO), Buhari has consistently protected corrupt close aides from the consequences of their ethical and legal infractions. This attitude of mollycoddling corrupt but loyal aides and appointees while pretending to be a man of “integrity” who is “fighting” corruption is getting worse by the day and indicates that, in spite of self-righteous declarations to the contrary, Buhari is himself morally indistinguishable from his crooked cronies.

This reality manifested from the very nascence of the Buhari presidency. About three months into his administration, Buhari appointed William Babatunde Fowler as Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). In announcing his appointment, presidential spokesman Femi Adesina said Fowler had an honorary doctorate from “Irish International University.” This immediately set offscam alarms in my head and, within 20 minutes of the announcement, I researched and found that the honorary doctorate was a scam. I shared my findings on Facebook, which went viral at the time.

Fowler quickly edited his online public profiles within hours of my exposing him and removed all references to his fake doctorate. (Read my August 29, 2015 column titled “On Fowler’s Fake Doctorate and Integrity Deficit.”) The last sentence in the column was, “I won’t be comfortable with that sort of person as my country’s chief’s tax collector. But the choice is ultimately President Buhari’s to make.”

Buhari ignored the scandal as if it never happened. As I predicted, Fowler’s FIRS has become a byword for reckless untowardness. Scores of people from the organization share many things with me that I haven’tshared-and won’t, for now, share- with the public because I haven’t independently verified them.

But in a widely publicized June 15, 2016 news report-complete with unassailable documentary proofs-Sahara Reporters found that “the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), headed by Mr. Babatunde Fowler, a protégé of BolaTinubu,…has been found to have overseen recruitment exercises in violation of Nigeria’s rules of public advertisement.” He illegally employed 349 cronies to top-level positions. The trend hasn’t abated, and Buhari has ignored it he is himself a beneficiary.

Ex-NYSC Director Explains Why Kemi Adeosun’s ‘Exemption Certificate’ Is Fake

On October 26, 2016, Premium Times reported that Buhari’s Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Usani, “was charged with fraud 15 years ago, after he was indicted in 2000 by the government of Cross River State where he served as a commissioner.” His indictment “is documented in a state government White Paper,” according to the paper. That’s as indisputably verifiable as it can get. Yet the minister has neither been investigated nor fired- in a government that fancies itself as “fighting corruption.”

A certain Louis Edozien who was fired in 2014 as Executive Director at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) for failure to produce authentic credentials, including an NYSC certificate, during an audit was reinstated and promoted to the position of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works, Power and Housing in November 2016. NDPHC’s General Manager in charge of audit and compliance by the name of Mrs. Maryam Mohammed who audited Edozien’s credentials and recommended his firing was unjustly fired in apparent retaliatory vendetta.

The position of Permanent Secretary is normally the crowning accomplishment of career civil servants, but Edozien isn’t a career civil servant and shouldn’t be a permanent secretary, according to the Daily Trust of October 20, 2017, which said “highly placed officials in the presidency facilitated” this rape of justice. SaharaReporters of October 12, 2017 was blunter: “Mr. Edozien is a friend and business partner to Mr. [Abba] Kyari,” it wrote. “The Chief of Staff’s daughter also worked directly under Mr. Edozien.”

How Nigeria’s Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun “Skipped NYSC, Forged Exemption Certificate”

It gets worse. On September 20, 2016, Sahara Reporters reported that this same Abba Kyari “took N500m from operators of MTN to help the telecommunications giant mitigate the fine imposed on it by the federal government.”About three months after this expose, MTN fired its top staffers who facilitated the bribe in order “to avoid scrutiny by the United States government over bribes offered to Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari,”according to Sahara Reporters. The presidency, as usual, intentionally ignored the story.

President Muhammdu Buhari’s personal complicity in the illegal reinstatement and promotion of indicted fugitive Abdulrasheed Maina is well known.“I sought audience with His Excellency, Mr. President on Wednesday, 11th October, 2017 after the FEC meeting where I briefed His Excellency verbally on the wide-ranging implications of the reinstatement of Mr. A. A. Maina, especially the damaging impact on the anti-corruption stance of this administration,” the Head of Service wrote in a memo to the President’s Chief of Staff, which was leaked to the press. Buhari had pretended before then that he had not the foggiest idea that Maina had been reinstated and promoted. Again, the presidency ignored the bombshell from the Head of Service.

In 2016 when the national budget was “padded” by top civil servants in the executive arm of government, Buhari said in Saudi Arabia that,“The culprits will not go unpunished.” Well, they have remained unpunished to this day. Investigations by the Economic Intelligence Magazine of November 6, 2016 showed that “officials who were sanctioned by their deployment outside Federal Ministry of Finance have since resumed duties in the same Ministry without the highly publicized punishment the President promised while speaking to Nigerians resident in Saudi Arabia.”

There is no point recalling Buhari’s over protection of corrupt and disgraced former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal. Buhari actually wrote in his personal capacity to exonerate Lawal of corruption charges, butwas later forced to eat his own vomit by firing him. To this day, Lawal hasn’t been prosecuted, is still a regular visitor to the Presidential Villa, and is, in fact, the Adamawa State coordinator of the president’s reelection campaign!

Remember, too, that the Chairman of the Special Presidential Investigative Panel for the Recovery of Property by the name of Okoi Obono-Obla, who is one of the arrowheads of Buhari’s “anti-corruption fight,” has conclusively been found to have forged his secondary school certificate to gain admission to study law at the University of Jos. According to the Daily Trust of June 6, 2018, WAEC’s deputy registrar, Femi Ola, told the House of Representatives that Obono-Obla’s WAEC certificate was “fake, not genuine.” More than one month after this revelation, the scammer still retains his job, and the presidency has, in keeping with its wont, ignored it.

More Trouble For Kemi Adeosun As NYSC Probes Her Exemption Certificate

So Finance Minister Adeosun’s brazen forgery of an NYSC exemption certificate, which she isn’t even qualified to get in the first place given that she got her bachelor’s degree in her early 20s, and the presidency’s shame-faced silence over the matter, are merely additions to a list that is getting scandalously long. It is impossible to deploy the resources of logic to argue that Buhari has integrity. He doesn’t. Well, unless integrity means something to Buhari supporters other than what it actually means in the English language.

Shut Up! The Lack Of Female Collaborations In Nigerian Music Doesn’t Mean They Hate Each Other

Featured Image

Shut Up! The Lack of Female Collaborations in Nigerian Music is not because They Hate Each Other.

I repeat, they don’t hate themselves, they just don’t feature each other enough.

I write for different reasons but in most cases, I write when something bothers me, and I feel that sharing it with you people will give me a well thought out and balanced answer.

Our society is changing, men are growing to realize that we need to treat women better. Men have come to the realization that certain things masculinity regarded as cultural is bare horse shit and only a means our ancestors came up to subdue the women in their lives and the society in general.

The Igbo man refers to his wife as “Ori Aku”, (My wealth spender) while this may have moulded the Igbo man to take up the responsibility of providing everything at home, some have argued that it has also made the Igbo man consider his wife as a property acquired by the payment of an expensive dowry.

This is not the topic for today.

Group of People Waving Flag of Nigeria in Back Lit

Our society is changing not only in the ways men treat women but also in the ways women treat each other. Women are considerably supportive of each other so much so that today, we have an advanced society with room for both sexes to attain unimaginable heights.
A couple of days ago, a day was set aside on Nigerian Twitter for women to praise other women by telling them what they have come to admire about them. It was a remarkable sight.

The changes are not limited to how we treat one another but also towards the things we love. I don’t think there has ever been a time when Nigerians loved Nigerian music and fashion more than today.

We go out wearing Nigerian made/designed outfits, dancing to Nigerian music. We went from a time when Nigerian music got played 25% of the night in a Nigerian club, to a time where we hardly give room for another type of music in our clubs and social events. Nigerians songs are played in major stores, clubs and shows across the world. There has never been a better time to be proudly Nigerian than now.

However, I have also noticed something else; while these changes are taking place, some other important things are not changing with the times and seem to be on a fatal backwards fall, the Nigerian female-female acts collaborations.

I don’t claim to be an expert in music matters, but I love and follow Nigerian music. I have worked with the best of the best in the industry from Mo’hits, Banky W, MI, Waje, Saucekid, Pope,Ycee and Omawumi to mention a few.

I have come up with some of the dopest album and single covers, but this article is not about my work in the music industry.

2face and 9ice

I have heard dope collaborations such as;

  • Eldee’s “ Big Boy” featuring Olu Maintain, Banky W & Oladele
  • 9ice’s “ Street Credibility” featuring Tuface
  • Banky W’s “Lagos party remix featuring D’banj, Eldee,Muna
  • Psqaure’s “Bizzy body” featuring Weird MC
  • Phyno’s “Fada Fada” featuring Olamide
  • Tiwa Savage’s “Malo” featuring Wizkid
  • DJ Jimmy Jatts “Stylee” featuring Ela Joe, 2face & Mode 9
  • Patoranking’s Girlie O” featuring Tiwa Savage
  • Lami’s “ Know” featuring MI
  • Ice Prince’s “Oleku” featuring Brymo
  • Illbliss “Aiye Po Gan” featuring Terry G
  • Nigga Raw’s “Obodo” featuring Klint D Drunk
  • Tiwa Savage’s “Eminado” featuring Don Jazzy
  • Samklef’s “Molowo Noni” featuring Ice Prince, The Prince & Wizkid
  • J Martin’s “Good or Bad” featuring Timaya & Psquare
  • 2face’s “Entre the Place” featuring Sound Sultan
  • Keffe’s “Kokoroko” featuring Timaya
  • MI’s”One Naira featuring Waje
  • Dare’s “carry De Go” featuring 2face

And the list goes on but clearly in this long list of hit songs one thing is missing, where’s the banger collaboration between two female Nigerian artist… I’ll give you 2 years to mention 1 that stands out.

I have waited for our “the Boy is mine” moment and it hasn’t come even at this time when the society is changing.

Sometimes, it feels that the Nigerian music industry is set up in a way that it favours only men, but I think this is one time our female artists can come together, change the narrative, and get things going in a different direction.

Tiwa Savage and Wizkid

It seems like we’ve given up on ever having female rappers as none of them seem to be in the limelight or relevant alongside their male counterparts.

I was having this argument few days ago with a female friend who argued that the reason for non-hot collaboration between Nigerian female acts is because of the lack of love amongst them and to this, I disagree.

Dear female acts, I believe in you and I think you can do it. The men didn’t achieve all this because they loved each other more, some of these collaborations were paid for by the smaller acts or their record labels at that time but I believe that women can achieve even more without a monetary exchange of any sort.

We have collectively agreed that the narrative that men and women work better is bullshit, this is the time to turn things around and get this sailing.

This article is a bit too long for my point, but the idea is to highlight the industry today and push for more all female collaborations in Nigeria. There are young fire female acts out there such as Wavy The Creator, Bella Alubo, Lady Donli, Teni (all new school) and they will need love from Tiwa Savage, Seyi Shay, Omawumi, Waje, Niniola et al. Let’s get this ball rolling.

In other news, If you think you have a hot collaboration and I didn’t mention it, don’t blame me, we didn’t have a lot of radio stations in Aba growing up.

Name some female acts you’ll love to see collaborate.

Taofeek Abijako, a 19-year-old Nigerian designer, has made history by becoming the youngest ever designer to present a full collection at the New York Fashion Week.

The Nigerian designer made history at the 2018 international fashion runway event tagged ‘New York Fashion Week: Men’s this year’, which took place a few days ago.

Taofeek held a presentation for his brand Head of State+’s spring/summer 2019 collection, which paid homage to 70s afro-futurism styles and West African youth culture.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) revealed that his label “pays homage to his past by celebrating his West African culture through a contemporary perspective.

He described his collection ‘Genesis’ as a ‘minimalist streetwear approach with social and political commentary.’

In his words, the CFDA wrote, “My dad was a trained fashion designer while living in Nigeria and dealt mostly with local traditional garments.

“Growing up in an environment like that sparked my curiosity in design.”

When asked about his inspiration for his collection, he stated that it will portray “the vibrancy of West African youth culture in the ‘70s and Fela Kuti.

“The new collection is guaranteed to be groundbreaking in design and social impact,” he said.

The internet is currently awash with reports that some voters in Ekiti state on Friday trooped to Government House in Okesa area Ado Ekiti, the capital to collect N4000 bribe with the presentation of their voter’s cards.

According to a report by The Nation newspaper, the bribe was being doled out to the people by Governor Ayo Fayose to make them vote for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Prof. Kolapo Olusola in Saturday’s election.

Sahara Reporters also confirmed that the PDP shared cash gifts ranging from N3,000 to N5,000, to prospective voters so as to influence their votes.

De Laurentiis To Cavani: “Reduce Your Wage Demand”

Featured Image

Napoli are keen on bringing Cavani back to the Serie A, but his wage demands is a stumbling block, and De Laurentiis has implored him to take a pay cut.

The former Napoli forward left for PSG in 2013, where he has won 16 trophies, including four Ligue 1 titles.

Cavani has been linked with a return, but his wage demand will have to be reduced for any deal to go through.

“I know you’d all like him, but I can clear this up immediately,” De Laurentiis added. “Edi earns €20m every 10 months. Having him and not letting the others play, at a time when our coach has just taken charge, would be a serious problem.

“Having only one player isn’t enough to win: we had Higuain, who broke the [goal scoring] record with us to earn double.

“We’re making assists, those who work with us break records and go on to earn double.

“Cavani has my number. If he wants, he can call me, lower his salary and put me in touch with PSG. I know he’d like to come back, but he had no qualms about leaving to earn three times more.”

Napoli President De Laurentiis Slams Sarri

Featured Image

Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis has hit out at former coach, Maurizio Sarri, for making mistakes that cost them the title last season.

The Italian led Napoli to second on the table for the second time in three seasons, but was replaced with Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the 2017-18 season.

De Laurentiis has now criticised Sarri, who has been announced as Chelsea’s new manager, for failing to rotate the squad in their Scudetto charge.

Reflecting on Sarri and the past campaign, De Laurentiis said: “Last season was distorted and snatched from us: we belong to what [former Italian actor] Toto called ‘The Band of Honest Men [referring to the film].

“That aside, there were errors in judgment throughout the season, the ability to be able to use the squad fully…

“Still, I don’t want to get into a technical speech or re-open any wounds that have healed.”

Dalic Looking At World Cup Final, Not Premier League Possibility

Featured Image

Croatia head coach, Zlatko Dalic held his cards close to his chest and remains focused on the World Cup final, despite reports linking him to England.

The 51-year-old led Croatia to their first ever World Cup final, after taking over from Cacic, following a poor qualifying, but won the playoff against Greece.

Dalic – who worked his way up the ranks in Asia where he led UAE giants Al Ain to the 2016 AFC Champions League final – now stands on the cusp of Croatia’s biggest achievement.

Quizzed on his future plans and a possible switch to England, Dalic told reporters: “I can’t really think about that now because it may give the wrong message to some Croatian people when we are about to try to become the best team in the world.

“But maybe. Now we have to try to do something big.”

“In the big European leagues you look for brand names and it’s all wrong,” Dalic added. “People get big jobs just because they were big players. But what does that mean?

“I started at a small club. I told them straight away that a big name equals a big mistake that will cost big money.

“Nothing was given to me on a plate unlike some managers in Europe who can manage because of their name.

“But I always said: ‘Give me a Barcelona or a Madrid and I will win titles’.”

Dalic continued: “Throughout my career and my life I’ve always taken the hardest path and had to fight. I didn’t want to stay in Croatia, be a middling coach and live off handouts. So I went abroad.

“We are not respected in Europe, even though Croatian coaches like Slaven Bilic and Niko Kovac [Bayern Munich head coach] have great results. I started at the bottom of the ladders and in a year I was the best coach in Asia.

“I managed the best club in Asia. I reached the final of the Champions League in Asia. You cannot sneeze at that. That brought me huge experience. I was there seven years and it was a hard path but I believed in myself.

“When Croatia called I never had any doubts or dilemmas. I knew what we could do on the basis of my faith in myself and players. People like me, Kovac and Bilic. This is the proof that we know what we are about. But we’ve been underrated as coaches. Now we have all shown we can achieve things and we are proud.”

Rakitic: I Will Celebrate World Cup Win With Forehead Tattoo

Featured Image

Ivan Rakitic has jokingly stated he will celebrate winning the World Cup with Croatia by tattooing his forehead.

Croatia face France on Sunday for the chance to become the 2018 FIFA World Cup champions.

Rakitic has played a key role for Zlatko Dalic’s side in their run to the final of the showpiece event in Russia.

“On my forehead!” Rakitic told reporters when asked if he was planning a tattoo if Croatia win.

“There’s plenty of space there, as you can see! But first I’ll have to ask my wife.

“Frankly, I have this feeling there will be hundreds of millions rooting for us. I’ve had messages from Argentina, Spain, Germany, all four corners of the world. It’s fantastic.

“What really makes me happy is people said they could never imagine celebrating a goal scored as if it had been scored by their own national team.

“It goes to show we’re deserved finalists, we want to show the world we play as one and we’ll leave everything on the pitch.”

73 feared killed, 50 villages burnt in Taraba Communal Conflict

No less than 73 persons have been feared killed while 50 villages were burnt following a renewed violence between the Hausa-Fulani and Yandang communities in Lau local government area of Taraba state.

Sahabi Mahmoud, state chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), told The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday that the hostilities, which started on July 5, has claimed the lives of more than 23 of his members.

The chairman further added that over 3,000 displaced Hausa-Fulani, mainly women and children, who fled the area, are currently taking refuge at the Muslim Council Secretariat in Jalingo and other neighbouring local government areas, The Cable reports

He expressed concern that it was “unfortunate” that since the displaced persons arrived the Muslim Council in Jalingo, no government official had visited the camp or provided any relief material to the victims.

Also speaking, an elder of the Yandang community, Aaron Artimas, disclosed that more than 50 persons from the side of the Yandang and other tribes in area were confirmed dead as a result of the conflicts.

Artimas said the Hausa-Fulanis, Yandang, Mumuye and Yoti, among other tribes, had lived in the area as brothers and sisters without problems for centuries.

He blamed the recent recurring conflicts on incitement from people outside the area who wanted to remain relevant politically.

His words: “Some militia from neighbouring Adamawa State have infiltrated into Babagasa, a border village between Taraba and Adamawa, and have been wreaking havoc on all the surrounding villages in Lau local government in Taraba.”

“Villages such as Tikule, Bariki, Santuraki, Budong, Mbonding and Panti-Ladda, among others, were burnt by the militia.

“Over 2,000 displaced persons from the affected villages are currently taking refuge at the Central Primary School, Jalingo.

“Some are in other villages like Sunkani, Apawa, Zing and Bali all in Taraba, while several others fled to Gorobi, Sabon-Gida, Bujum and Mayo-Belwa in Adamawa State.

“Since the arrival of IDPs in their current locations, they have been living at the mercy of God and good spirited individuals who have been taking food to them. As I speak with you now, since the conflicts erupted in Lau Local Government on July 5, there is no presence of security while the people continue to kill themselves.”

Confirming the incident, David Misal, spokesman of Taraba police command, said the number of casualties was still being compiled, but added that normalcy had been restored in the affected areas.
