You Could Be In Jail “For A Very Long Time” For Doing The “In My Feelings” Challenge

If you’re yet to know, then I am dragging your attention to reports that the roadside dance inspired by rapper Drake’s “In My Feelings” off his Scorpion album – which may be an Internet sensation – can make you spend as long as 365 days behind bars.

Egypt has made it clear with sanctions that it won’t accept the “In My Feelings” challenge – also called the Kiki Challenge, where an individual “foolishly” jumps out of a moving car and dances alongside while the song is playing.

The viral challenge, which has taken the internet by storm, has quickly turned dangerous.

Inevitably, it has led to more than just a few injuries as quite a number of people have crashed into poles, tripped on potholes, and been hit by cars while dancing for the challenge. On one occasion, a woman had her handbag stolen.

The #InMyFeelings challenge became a viral dance sensation after comedian Shiggy posted a video of himself shimmying to the song on Drake’s latest album, Scorpion.

The video spawned a raft of copycats, essentially becoming its own meme, but people took it further than the original, hopping out of a car and dancing to the song while the vehicle is still moving.

But Ahram Online is reporting that participating in the dance challenge in Egypt could land you in jail.

Egypt’s Interior Ministry says that while it is fine to do the dance for fun, but obstructing traffic could draw fines of up to 3,000 pounds ($167) and a year in prison. If the dance results in injury or death, the case could be referred to prosecutors.

Egypt is not the only country in the region where the dance has banned.

Prosecutors ordered the arrest of three “social media influencers” after they posted videos of themselves taking part in the dance challenge, reported a National newspaper in Abu Dhabi while Spain released a footage showing how dangerous some of the videos are.

While there seems to be no particular law or announcement in Nigeria and many other countries as regards the #InMyFeelings challenge, you all should know that there are some laws about the “deliberate” act of jumping out of moving vehicles to cause harm, injury, traffic and even death to others.

A word to the wise is sufficient!
