‘I Will Beat You Up’ — Bovi And I Go Dye Fight Dirty On Instagram

An argument between two prominent Nigerian comedians, Bovi Ugomma and Francis ‘I Go Dye’ Agoda, which should have naturally ended on a lighter note, took a heated dimension as the former vowed to beat up the latter.

The comedians are in the middle of a war of words on Instagram over the bid of former Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to contest for the senate in 2019.

Bear in mind that the former Delta governor recently moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Trouble started when I Go Dye questioned the ex-governor’s ambition, stating that he has not done enough to merit another shot at public office.

He wrote on Instagram: IF YOU CAN RENT 1000 KVA GENERATOR FOR 1,536,000,000 ( ONE BILLION FIVE HUNDRED AND THIRTY SIX MILLION ) TO RUN THE DOME EVENT CENTER, WHEN YOU CAN BUY THAT GENERATOR FOR 43 MILLION. WHAT WILL YOU RENT OR DO WHEN YOU BECOME SENATOR ?

Life often offers us an opportunity to act, speak and do the needful at all time. I am destined to speak and act for the voiceless.
However,
As the Ukaid Goodwill Ambassador on making a difference Against corruption, I believe, that for us to collective prosper as a nation we all must speak and act against corruption.
Remarkably, the fight against corruption has not being objective. The warm embrace and presidential hand shake given them after decamping expresses negativity in the fight against corruption.
At this point in our Nation, the true value of our lives as citizens, will be appreciated if we look beyond our immediate status of comfort and build a patriotic ideology to protect our country from further abuse.
In my civil quest to change and advocate for youthful leadership what is right,Charity must begin at home.In reflection of what should be ideal, Ex -Governor Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan born 22 October 1954 age 64 years, on August 6th 1999 age 45 years you became Commissioner for Health in Delta State, on 6 June 2003, Uduaghan was appointed Secretary to the Delta State Government and 29 May 2007 age 53 you became governor of Delta state.you should be be advocating for a younger candidate ,instead of the personal ambition to run for the Senatorial position in Delta State.
After enjoying the executive position for (8) eight years, with a allocation of 62.2bn a year × 8 years, over Five trillion nine hundred and seventy one billion two hundred million (5,971,200,000,000 ) within that period, noting can be ascribed to you ,in terms of infrastructural and human capital development. This is enough reason why he shouldn’t seek any other elective position in Delta State.

Reacting to the post, albeit in criticism, Bovi accused I Go Dye of not speaking up when Uduaghan was a serving governor.

He described his colleagues’ sentiments as “self-serving”.

In response, I Go Dye said Bovi had been paid to defend the politician, referring to him as a “baby lawyer”.

He asked: “How much have you being paid to sell your hard YOUR hard earned reputation, as a beautiful Nigeria youth, that grew to become AKPO’S, now Bovi, only to be commissioned as a Baby lawyer by your favourite Governor Uduaghan? Someone whose children are graduating today in London while Delta State University is still in decay.”

Angered by his recent post, Bovi took to the social media today to threaten to beat him up.

“You just messed with the memory of my late mother. That was in March 2016. RMD brought him to my house to commiserate with me because he wasn’t going to make it to the funeral.

“This was days to her funeral. If only you could comprehend averagely, you would have known that my initial question to you had nothing to do with governance! Unlike you, I do not dabble in politics. It’s not my turf. My take on politics comes up mostly on stage. I’m friends with many governors and politicians simply because they love my work.

“The present Governor of Delta state was at my mothers funeral as our family’s guest. Unlike you, I have not gone to burden him with self-serving proposals. Please note that I didn’t bother his predecessor too. That’s always been your game.

“I was simply calling you out the way you called the governor out. Now look how you’re rattled and running all over the place! Francis, your legacy in the comedy industry cannot be questioned but your shallow intellect has never been up for debate.

“If you thought your actions through, you will know that after your multiple visits to the ex-governor, cap in hand, including the one you showcased only a portion of the video on the 30th of April this year, you have no moral standing to speak scathingly and publicly.

”When your enlightened writer put up the post on the former vice-president, you called and asked my opinion and I gave you thumbs up. You know why? Because I know you had never taken one of your self-serving proposals to the former VP.

“I have nothing against your hustle. If you want to segue into a social critic, it’s fine. But If any of our friends called you out after dining with you for years, I’d do exactly the same thing to that friend as I have done to you. For you to scroll down my IG page to two years ago shows your desperation to drag me in your mud. Don’t do that again.

“Go and sin no more. You will be okay but if you ever mention my children again, I will physically beat you up,” Bovi warned.

Flood Robs Ibeju-Lekki Residents Of Valuables Worth Millions

Some residents of Ibeju Lekki in Lagos on Saturday lamented their loss of valuables worth millions of Naira to flood from persistent rainfall since the early hours, coupled with the poor drainage facilities in the community.

Some of the residents, in interviews with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said the early morning downpour left several roads and homes in the area flooded.

Nigerian Doctors Give Buhari Sept. 30, Deadline

Mr Luqman Balogun, a member of the Community Development Association (CDA), in Ibeju-Lekki, said that it had been a long time since the community witnessed such torrential rain.

“We can neither go to the office nor stay at home comfortably now as many of our valuables are already destroyed by flood.

“I never believed we could be sacked by flood because we live in a predominantly sandy environment, due to our proximity to the ocean.

“What I have observed now is that there are no working drainage channels in Ibeju-Lekki, as we have in other parts of Lagos State,’’ he said.

Balogun mentioned some of the areas affected by the flood included Kajola, Majek first-gate area, Lakowe, Eleko, Oribanwa and Awoyaya, among several others.

According to him, the flooding has affected commercial businesses in the community, including the hospitality sector.

“I am a hotel operator. We hotel owners are also complaining of low patronage due to bad roads, epileptic power supply, the absence of a functional drainage system and other issues.

“Despite all the challenges, government is still giving us estimated taxes and ridiculous bills.

“We have not been enjoying any infrastructure in this community, yet we pay our taxes and there is virtually no serious encouragement from government,’’ he said.

Also, Mr Seyi Bakare, a resident, decried the poor condition of the Ibeju/lekki expressway.

He noted that the major road in the area had started to develop several portholes, thereby causing some traffic bottlenecks on the expressway

Bakare added that the journey from the Ajah axis to Epe/Ibeju -Lekki which ought to take about 45 minutes now lasts about an hour-and-a-half.

Another resident, Mr Lanre Solution, appealed to the Lagos State government to fix the Lekki/Epe expressway, which he said, was the major road linking Ibeju/Lekki to Epe.

He said that adequate maintenance of the road would enhance business activities in the area.

Mrs Bola Fadahunsi, another resident, lamented that the bad roads and flooding were causing a lot of damage to the vehicles of residents, costing them much more money to maintain them.

Pogba: A France GOAT – A Manchester United Scapegoat

Pogba: A France GOAT – A Manchester United Scapegoat By Peter Staunton

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

It’s been less than two months since Paul Pogba led France to their second World Cup title and this week the midfielder returned to the tranquil surroundings of Clairefontaine.

France will play Germany in their first-ever UEFA Nations League match on Thursday with 22 of Didier Deschamps’ title-winning 23 reporting for duty.

The perception of Pogba in France at the moment could scarcely be any different to the one in England, where he has become a lightning rod for Manchester United’s ills. His performance – and penalty miss – last weekend against Burnley was ridiculed even though United ended up winning the game comfortably.

That criticism is added to the pile that has plagued Pogba since returning from the World Cup . Displays against Brighton and Tottenham were heavily scrutinised, and totally at odds with the praise Pogba was winning during the summer.

“Paul Pogba plays for himself, it’s all about how cool he looks, showing us how clever he is,” Graeme Souness wrote in The Sunday Times . “I reckon Pogba’s only in the team to maintain his transfer value until United can sell him, because he doesn’t merit his place for any other reason.”

It comes on the back of a tough few weeks for Pogba, whose struggles under United manager Jose Mourinho have been well documented.

Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has come into conflict with United great Paul Scholes over his player’s status in the United squad and there is a perception that fan sentiment has turned towards Mourinho in any battle involving the two.

So, this week’s international break might well have come at the right time for the 25-year-old, who will have time to recharge and be given a reminder of his capabilities. France team-mate and good friend Antoine Griezmann revealed to the press this week that he was surprised by the level to which Pogba adopted that leadership role in Russia during the World Cup.

“Paul really took it up a notch in the locker room,” Griezmann told L’Equipe . “He had the right words which pushed us. Hugo Lloris, Raphael Varane and Blaise Matuidi, we know they were leaders, but Pogba surprised us more and made us feel good.”

It was the tournament in which Pogba became a man and demonstrated – as if it needed to be said – that he was capable of running a midfield in a top-quality team and making positive contributions.

And adding to the sense of maturity, Pogba himself has been vocal this week about the need for France’s world champions to consider themselves as role models for the next generation in light of Hugo Lloris’s drink-driving arrest.

“After this World Cup, children will have the image we had at the 1998 World Cup,” he told RMC Sport .

“We’ll be role models for these children. That’s why you have to lead by example. Even if you don’t want to, you have to lead by example.”

Winning trophies is something Pogba has become accustomed to with France – but also in his club career with Juventus and even at Manchester United.

He won four Serie A titles in succession before returning home. The gold has flowed at Old Trafford as well but there is a notable distinction between the kind of titles Pogba was winning for Juventus and the ones he’s got his hands on at Manchester United.

He wasn’t signed as the world’s most expensive player to win only the EFL Cup and the Europa League. Pogba – now a world champion and a flagship player for his club – must be setting his sights a little higher.

In the past few days it’s been interesting in that respect to note the overtures coming from Barcelona towards Pogba in the press.

First it was Gerard Pique and now Luis Suarez has followed suit . The striker – who moved to Barcelona and won the Champions League in his first season – pointed out that Pogba would now want more trophies to capitalise on his World Cup win. The implication was that he could get them with Barcelona.

“Pogba is an elite player – he has won everything,” Suarez told RAC1 . “He has a lot of quality and he is a key player for United.

“I think he would like to be competing for more [silverware] than he is at the moment. He may not be a Barca player yet, but he would always be welcome.”

There has been speculation that Pogba’s position at United under Mourinho led him and Raiola to consider a move to Barca over the summer. And it follows a familiar pattern when Barca’s star players start talking up potential transfer targets in the media.

How close Pogba can get to matching his international honours at club level will depend largely on how quickly Mourinho sorts out United. They are already two defeats down in this Premier League season with Pogba himself shouldering the brunt of the blame.

Right now, it’s unlikely that United have anything like the consistency or the quality to match the output of Manchester City in the league and any one of about five or six leading teams competing for the Champions League.

Now that he’s out of the eye of the storm Pogba has time again to consider his status as world champion and how that compares to the treatment he’s getting in his day job.

AFCON 2019: Libya Draw South Africa, Stay Above Nigeria In Group E

Libya forced a 0-0 draw with South Africa in Durban on Saturday to remain Group E leader in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying competition.

When the mini-leagues draw was made, former African champions Nigeria and South Africa were installed as favourites to fill the two places available for the finals in Cameroon.

But with two of the six qualifying rounds completed, Libya lead with four points, South Africa also have four points but with a lower goal difference while Nigeria have three and the Seychelles are pointless.

Algeria-born coach Adel Amrouche said he hoped the goalless stalemate at Moses Mabhida Stadium in the Indian Ocean port city would bring joy to the Libyan people.

“Only football can bring the people together,” said the 50-year-old former coach of Equatorial Guinea, Burundi and Kenya.

He was talking after deadly clashes in Tripoli last week between rival militias battling for control of the Libyan capital.

Libyan national and club teams have had to host home matches outside the north African country because of safety issues since the 2011 death of dictator Muamar Kadhafi.

“I am not coaching Libya for money — I want to help bring happiness to the people by taking the national team to the 2019 Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon,” said Amrouche.

The match staged in wet conditions before a small crowd followed a predictable pattern with Libya putting virtually their entire team behind the ball whenever threatened.

It led to an international that delivered little excitement and the match appeared destined to finish goalless long before the final whistle.

“We battled to gain possession against physically strong opponents and then surrendered the ball too easily at times,” admitted England-born South Africa coach Stuart Baxter.

Libya face Nigeria twice between October 8 and 16 while South Africa host and visit the Seychelles at the same time.

Ahmed Musa Scores As Super Eagles Thrash Seychelles

The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Saturday, September 8, picked up their first 3 points in the qualifying campaign for the 2019 African Cup of Nations after defeating Seychelles 3 – 0 at the Stade Linite.

Captain Ahmed Musa opened the scoring in spectacular fashion in the 15th minute, while goals from Chidozie Awaziem and Odion Ighalo saw the Super Eagles pick their first win of the qualifiers, with debutant Samuel Kalu causing havoc to the Pirates defence.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr opted for a 4-4-2 against the Pirates with some of the players from the World Cup unavailable for various reasons.

Nigeria have their first three points in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying group level on points with South Africa and Libya. South Africa will play against Libya today at the Moses Mabhida stadium.

Tite: Brazil Covalescing After Painful World Cup Exit

Featured Image

Brazil coach, Tite says the Selecao are recovering from the shock exit from the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Captain Neymar and Firmino scored in the 2-0 friendly win over the United States of America.

Brazil were favourites going into the showpiece event in Russia, but were stopped by Belgium in the quarterfinals.

Speaking after Brazil’s victory stateside, head coach Tite told reporters: “We are recovering the work from pain and a frustration of elimination. It has an emotional aspect.

“This was a feeling we noticed when we met with the athletes. And it’s a resumption in which Douglas Costa started only his second match. I was asked about the other athletes. But the others are the ones that were already but need more time on the field.

“We have to give Firmino, Douglas Costa, Fred more chance. And then the newbies. But having these players on the pitch so they have the opportunity and time for a better analysis. And this was beyond my expectation.”

Neville: I Hated Merseyside Derbies

Featured Image

Former Everton captain, Phil Neville has revealed he hated facing Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.

The former Manchester United midfielder switched to Everton in 2005, with Moyes spending £3 million on him.

Neville said he preferred the Manchester derby and despite spending eight years at Everton, he hated the overhyped Merseyside derby.

“I hated Merseyside derbies, I really did. I thought they were overhyped,” he said on Sky Sports.

“I think a Manchester derby, we used to talk about from 48 hours before. Merseyside derbies were a week before.

“The masseur would put up on the wall ‘five more sleeps’. The next day ‘four more sleeps’, the next day ‘three more sleeps until the Merseyside derby’. It was the biggest game.

“We used to go into derby days full of confidence thinking we could compete but Liverpool always used to play the game.

“We got too involved in trying to smash someone early on, fans saying you’ve got to die for the badge. It was the only game Everton wanted to win.”

UNILAG Student Dies At Nigerian Defence Academy – 24 Hours After Resuming Training

A 20-year-old student of Economics at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, Damilare Taiwo, was said to have slumped and died on Tuesday, barely a day after he resumed for training at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna State.

Taiwo, a native of Ile-Ife, Osun State, who had always wished to be an accomplished army officer, was said to have slumped and died during a training session. The army authorities revealed this.

US-Based Nigerian Parents Arrested After Son Dies During 40-Day Fasting

But his family members are saying that they believe their son was beaten to death during a ‘welcome home’ tradition at the camp as circumstances surrounding his death aroused suspicion.

Speaking with The Punch, the deceased’s father, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, said his death came to the family as a rude shock.

The father recalled, “He finished his secondary school education in 2014 and gained admission to UNILAG the same year to study Economics. He was just 20 years old.  He just completed his project.

“When he wanted to leave for Kaduna that Saturday, I advised him to be a good ambassador of the family and prayed for him. He was an easy-going child. He had always wanted to be a soldier.

“In one of his pictures on Facebook, he edited the image of the late Gen. Murtala Muhammed in the N20 note and replaced it with his picture. That is to tell you the passion he had for the Force and how far he wanted to go.

“He had been showing interest in the army since 2011 when he was 13. It is so unfortunate that he could not accomplish his mission.

“The army sent some officers to us last Thursday to tell us about his death. They told us that he collapsed during a training session on Tuesday (August 28).”

In her reaction, the boy’s mother mournfully said, “Won ti kan mi leyin okan (They have broken my canine).

She further said she learnt her son was beaten to death whereas the army told us he fell and died.

“I don’t want my son to die in vain. The military said he would be buried in Kaduna, but I don’t want my son to be buried there. They should bring his corpse to Lagos.”

Courtois: Chelsea Fans Misunderstand Madrid Move

Featured Image

Thibaut Courtois has revealed that Chelsea fans do not understand the reason behind his move to Real Madrid.

The Belgium international secured a move to Spain for a fee of £35 million to be close to his family.

Courtois drew the vexation of the Chelsea faithfuls when he failed to return for pre-season training.

However, Courtois claims his actions were misinterpreted, and that Chelsea had been made aware of his intentions well before the deal was completed.

“It makes me feel sad. Obviously they don’t know all the truth,” he told reporters after Belgium’s friendly win over Scotland on Friday.

“I think in March the decision was already made and I thought the club would accept it.

“Then because the transfer was close I didn’t show up [to training] because I thought it was better not to disturb the squad. I didn’t want it to be toxic.

“Obviously it’s a pity because I love Chelsea. I loved playing there.”

Onyekuru: Nigeria Need To Score A Lot Against Seychelles

I Missed Playing ‘Top Level’ Football While I Was In China – Axel Witsel

Featured Image

Borussia Dortmund new signing Axel Witsel has admitted that he missed playing in Europe after an 18-month stint in the Chinese Super League

Axel Witsel rejected a move to Juventus in favour of a lucrative switch from Russian side Zenit Saint Petersburg to Chinese outfit Tianjin Quanjian last January.

Witsel has said he’s ready to be a leader in Borussia Dortmund and has also admitted he never imagined he’d have an opportunity to ply his trade in the German top flight.

“I’m ready to be a leader,” he declared, via bundesliga.com. “I’m 29 years old, I’m one of the oldest in the squad. We have a very talented group, but one which is very young.

“Piszczek is 33. Reus, Götze and me, we’re 29. Bürki is 28. The rest are between 18 and 26. Quite frankly, I was surprised when I arrived. I started to speak to some of them, I asked them their age, and to be at Dortmund already at 19, 20 years old, it’s brilliant.

“I never thought that one day I’d play in Germany. I didn’t hesitate as soon as I got the chance to join Dortmund.”

“I don’t regret my time in China at all,” he continued. “I could have said to myself that I would stay there after the World Cup. I could have signed a new contract there, I didn’t.

“After what we experienced at the World Cup, it was clear in my head: I absolutely wanted to return to Europe, but not just anywhere. I had the ambition of going to a top club. Dortmund came along, I didn’t hesitate. To play in full stadiums, the atmosphere, the emotion…I’d missed the top level.”

I Missed Playing ‘Top Level’ Football While I Was In China – Axel Witsel

Report: Manchester United Suspend Contract Extension Talks With Paul Pogba

Featured Image

Manchester United have reportedly put contract talks with Paul Pogba on ice following increasing speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona

Although The Red Devils remain confident of convincing Paul Pogba that his future remains at Old Trafford, the club are unwilling to continue any form of contract talks while he remains unsettled

Various reports have suggested troubles with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba

United had hoped to start negotiations over an improved deal in September but had not anticipated Pogba’s sour return to the club after coming back to club from his World Cup Success

The report also claims that Pogba will not seek a move in January but could be tempted to push for one next summer should the Blaugrana retain their interest.

With Spanish giants Barcelona known to unsettle players in the past to secure a deal – most recently Philippe Coutinho – this story could very well play out for the remainder of the season.

Jorginho Pleased With Draw Against Poland, Says Zielinski Just Chased Him On The Pitch

Featured Image

Jorginho has registered his irritation at former teammate, Piotr Zielinski for chasing him around the pitch in Italy’s 1-1 draw against Poland in the Nations League.

Italy are getting a first taste of international competition, after missing out on the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Zielinski, who is in form for Napoli opened the scoring after an error from Jorginho, with the Chelsea man equalizing from the spot in the 78th minute.

“Zielinski chased me around the pitch the whole time and wasn’t really paying attention to the rest of it,” the Chelsea midfielder told Rai Sport.

“In the second half he came out because he could not take it anymore and those who replaced him continued to play only on me.

“When you have a man who does not watch the game and only looks at you, you can only try to make room for your team-mates.

“I tried to talk, to give directions to my team-mates about how to move on the field. It was not the best game, but we have to be calm and keep playing.”

Weah: Mom Wanted Me To Remain At PSG

Featured Image

Teenage forward, Timothy Weah says his mom convinced him to stay at Paris Saint Germain, though he might leave in January on loan.

The USA international scored his first goal for the Ligue 1 giants, after getting his first start in their second game, however he has not featured since.

Weah is enjoying his time at PSG and playing alongside stars, but leaving in January on loan is a possibility.

“It was a family decision,” Weah told reports of his decision to not go out on loan. “My mom, she thought I am still really young and tender. There’s still some stuff to work on.

“She thought if I did go to a lower team in the same league, there would be so many expectations to carry that team or potentially fight for a league winning spot. I don’t feel that I’m ready for that.”

“I’m always ready for a challenge but right now I feel like training with PSG, training with Neymar, Thiago Silva and getting better each day – I feel like that’s the way to go. That’s the choice we made.”

“Playing with one of the best teams in the world, it gives you huge confidence coming to international camp,” Weah said. “I wouldn’t say on the same level but you feel more confident when you’ve played like guys like Neymar, Thiago Silva. You know how they play. You’re with them every day and they’re like your brothers. Coming into these games you’re super confident.

“I felt with the touches that I had, I showed a confidence. It’s just right now, I’m super young and I’m still learning. I still had a bit of jitters playing against Brazil but it’s something to work on and the future is really bright for us.”

Despite remaining for now, Weah did leave open the possibility he may consider a loan away from PSG in January.

“There’s still so much time. I’m only 18,” Weah added. “So who knows? In January, when the transfer market is open again hopefully look see where it is.”
