Eden Hazard Speaks About Chelsea’s Chances Of Winning The Premier League This Season

Featured Image

Eden Hazard was keen to play down talk of Chelsea winning the Premier League this season.

Eden Hazard believes it is too early to discuss Chelsea’s Premier League title chances

Hazard scored one goal and created another in a 3-0 win at Southampton as Chelsea leapfrogged Manchester City and Liverpool,

Hazard is enjoying a rich vein of form while the ‘Blues’ are much improved under Maurizio Sarri this term, but he is not getting carried away just yet.

“It’s too early to be thinking about the title – we know it is tough to win,” Hazard told ‘Sky Sports’. “But it is good to be up there.

“We’ll maybe watch Liverpool and Manchester City on the bus.”

On how he is finding life under Sarri, the forward added: “We are enjoying playing well and scoring goals.

“The first half was not so easy [at Southampton]. They missed big chances and then we have had a bit of luck for our first goal, but we controlled the match in the second half.

“I don’t know if I’ve played better – I’m just playing good football because we are playing good football. I want to keep doing it and keep everyone happy.”

Ross Barkley impressed in Chelsea’s latest win, scoring his first goal for the club, and Hazard was pleased to see his team-mate’s hard work in training rewarded.

“[Barkley] is playing well, he scored and made an assist,” Hazard said. “He is doing well and working hard on the training ground.”

31 passes for Morata, is this your type of football?

“Something like this, something like this. We moved the ball very quick. I think one touch, sometimes two. We arrived at the goal so easy. I think it’s my football.”

Your favourite goal?

“Sure, of course because I can see my way of football in this situation.”

Morata, has the confidence now?

“I am really very happy with him, for him. It is always very important for the striker to score, to have scored in the Europa League and to have scored today. But it was very important the performance. Alvaro has played very well in the Europa League and today in the last 30 minutes. I think we can restart easily now.”

Was today your perfect way of playing?

“I think sometimes, not always. I think today we can do better, especially in the centre part of the second half. We have given them two or three opportunities. We need to be in control of the match, we can do better in the defensive phase and sometimes also in the offensive phase. Today we did wrong in two or three counter attacks, four against three, three against two. I think we have the possibility to do better.”

Ross Barkley, his best performance?

“I think the best performance of Ross was in the Carabao Cup in Liverpool. Today he has played very well, but I am really happy with him. From the beginning he has improved day by day, week by week and match by match. So I am very happy with him and for him, for the goal, for the national team. I think he had a very serious injury in the previous season, but I think he is improving.”

Improved the way he is training, what have you talked to him about? An example?

“Not in particularly, I said to him from the first day that he has great quality, physical and technical quality. But you have to improve from the tactical point of view, but now he has improved (tactically).

What is his potential?

“I don’t know. But potentially he is a great player. He has quality, very important qualities in the physical and technically point of view, now he is improving in the tactical point of view. He will become a very important player in England and for the England national team.”

Top of the league, stay there?

“It’s the same that I thought exactly one week ago and what I said. I think Manchester City and Liverpool are a step forward from us. We need to recover the gap. The gap last season was 30 points between City and Chelsea, now we are trying to cover the gap and we are working on that. I think it will be very difficult to cover so large a gap in one season.”

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, injured?

“No, not at the moment. I preferred for him after 70 minutes in the last match for the first time in the season, I preferred for him to have training.”

Portugal’s Prime Minister Antonio Costa Discusses Cristiano Ronaldo’s Alleged Rape Claims

Featured Image

Portugal’s Prime Minister Antonio Costa has called for Cristiano Ronaldo to be looked on as innocent until proven guilty after he was accused of rape by Kathryn Mayorga

Cristiano Ronaldo is alleged to have raped Kathryn Mayorga in 2009 at a hotel in Las Vegas, USA.

Ms Mayorga came public with her claim last month, and the case has now been re-opened by Las Vegas police.

While sponsors such as Nike and EA have expressed their concern at the allegations, Juventus and now the Portuguese Prime Minister have given their backing to the footballing superstar.

Nike ‘Deeply Concerned’ By ‘Disturbing’ Cristiano Ronaldo Rape Claims

Speaking of Ronaldo, who is the captain of his nation’s football team, Antonio Costa said: “People need to understand once and for all that there’s one thing that is presumption of innocence. It is not enough for someone to be accused of something to be guilty of it.

“And if there’s something we have proof of is that he is an extraordinary professional, an extraordinary sportsman, an extraordinary footballer, and someone who has honoured and given prestige to Portugal.

“And certainly what we all wish for is that nothing can ever stain that record of Ronaldo. So, to assume as certain what is a mere accusation, if you excuse me, one cannot rely on permanent public trials that took so many years to build.”

Romelu Lukaku Comments On Manchester United’s Attacking Performance Vs Newcastle

Featured Image

Romelu Lukaku has admitted that Manchester United’s second half performance against Newcastle on Saturday is how the club should and want to play.

Old Trafford is not used to seeing particularly attacking football from Manchester United, especially this season after a run of terrible performances from the side.

It seemed as though that was going to be repeated on Saturday as the ‘Red Devils’ went in at half-time losing 2-0 against struggling Newcastle United.

However, their second half performance saw a completely different-looking side overturn the deficit and complete a famous comeback to win 3-2.

Speaking after the game, Romelu Lukaku admitted that the performance that his team managed in the second period is what they should always be aiming for.

“It’s not good for the heart when it is like this, but it is satisfying to win and the way we did in the second half was the way we should always play football.” the Belgian conceded.

“That’s what the fans want to see, that’s the way we want to play. I don’t know why we don’t always play like this but at the end of the day we won the game and we have to move on.”

Fulham Manager Slavisa Jokanovic Laments His Players Defensive Display Vs Arsenal

Featured Image

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic lamented his players weak defending after there were thumped 5-1 by Arsenal at Craven Cottage

A second-half collapse saw Fulham slip from 1-1 to 5-1 down as Arsenal ‘ ran riot after the interval.

Fulham have now conceded 21 goals in their eight games of the season to date.

Speaking after the final whistle, Jokanovic criticised his side’s defending, urging them to improve quickly.

“We played the first 45 minutes well, created chances and gave them questions. But in the second half they scored very easy goals. We opened all the doors,” he lamented.

“At the moment we’re showing so many weaknesses for the level we are at, defensively. We need to improve quickly on this.

“I believe my team tried. After they scored a second, I tried to find some way to equalise the game. We finished the game with 21 shots, and the other team nine. But they showed the quality, the pace, the strength too.”

However, the Serbian manager rejected suggestions his side should adopt a more cautious approach to playing the ball out.

“We must trust in ourselves, we must keep working,” he insisted. ” At the moment we haven’t showed Premier League level, it’s true. It’s not an easy competition. We must be brave, be strong, push forward, and be ready for the next challenge.

“We tried to win the game. I trust that if I try to win the game, one day I will win the game. If you believe the solution is to sit in your box, I don’t believe in that way. Anyway, when they arrive in the box you find so many problems.

“Today we tried, but we didn’t play well enough. We showed some positive signs but it’s not easy for me to now explain so much about those positive things.”

Injury Forces Marco Reus To Withdraw From Germany’s Squad

Featured Image

Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus will miss Germany’s games against the Netherlands and France through injury.

Marco Reus withdrew from Germany’s squad for their upcoming Nations League games after picking up a knee injury.

Reus played the full 90 minutes in Dortmund’s dramatic 4-3 Bundesliga win over Augsburg on Saturday, but will now sit out his country’s clashes against the Netherlands and France next week.

There were few surprises in Low’s squad for the double-header, with Schalke striker Mark Uth the only new face.

Low said of that decision: “We’ve been watching Mark Uth for a while now. He is dynamic, fast and offers a goal threat. Now we want to get to know him better.”

A goal from Eric Dier earned a 1-0 victory for Tottenham on Saturday afternoon

However, Spurs were thankful to several saves from goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, and Pochettino has called for improvements after the international break.

Buhari’s Wife Blasts Oshiomhole | “Impunity Reigns Under Your Watch”

Less than a day after her husband received the party’s ticket as its presidential candidate for the 2019 general election, Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, has faulted the manner in which some of the primaries of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was conducted.

BREAKING: Atiku Beats Tambuwal, Saraki, Others To Win PDP Presidential Primary

She took to her Twitter account on Sunday to express her displeasure at the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, who she accused of allowing impunity under his watch.

She regretted that Oshiomhole, despite his activism background, could allow such conduct under his leadership.

She, however, called on Nigerians to rise against impunity and for voters to urge aspirants to be committed to the provision of basic amenities.

Mrs. Buhari said, “It is disheartening to note that some aspirants used their hard earned money to purchase nomination forms, got screened, cleared and campaigned vigorously yet found their names omitted on the election day. These forms were bought at exorbitant prices.

“Many others contested and yet had their result delayed. Fully knowing that automatic tickets have been given to other people.

“All Progressives Congress, being a party whose cardinal principle is change and headed by a comrade/ activist whose main concern is for the common man, yet, such impunity could take place under its watch.

“It is important for the populace to rise against impunity and for voters to demand from aspirants to be committed to the provision of basic amenities such as: potable drinking water, basic health care ( Primary Health Care centers)

“Given this development, one will not hesitate than dissociate from such unfairness, be neutral and speak for the voiceless.

Brymo Reveals Why He Performs Semi-Nude

Well known Nigerian singer and songwriter, Olawale Ashimi, with the stage name, Brymo, has revealed why he wrapped a piece of cloth around his loins while his butt is left bare during his recent performances.

VIDEO: Brymo – Bá’núsọ

In a chat with The Punch (that was published on Sunday), Brymo explained the reason for his choice of clothing.

VIDEO: Brymo – Let Us Be Great

He said, “That was the way our forefathers used to dress before the arrival of the West. As a matter of fact, some months ago, a picture circulated on the Internet of a wealthy Igbo farmer who dressed that way in 1930. I just wanted to remind people of our past. It surprises me that people are shocked whenever I dress that way. That was the same way I dressed in the video for my song, Heya. In this part of the world, we are mostly consumers; not creators. If the advanced world should come here and take all of their technologies, we would be left naked.

“However, I appreciate the people who follow my music and see it as a form of artistic expression. Those are the people I do this for. For those who don’t like it; sorry, I don’t know what to do about that.”

To those who dont understand him, he continued: “Yes, I am often misunderstood because some people don’t understand what I do. Most of these people are not in the entertainment industry; so, they don’t really understand the concept behind the art. I don’t have a problem with the fact that the mainstream industry doesn’t celebrate me because they only celebrate those they can control. I had already become a musician before finding out how the music industry works. I had two options – to either pack my bags and run or stay. A lot of things are wrong with the music industry as it is currently set up because there is no structure. After releasing an album, an artiste is supposed to take a break for about a year or two before recording another album; but it is not so here.”

Bishop Kukah Says “No World Leader Is As Irresponsible As A Nigerian President”

Bishop Kukah Says “No World Leader Is As Irresponsible As A Nigerian President”

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Dr. Matthew Kukah, has disclosed that no president of any country in the world could be as irresponsible in the use of power as a Nigerian president.

He stated this in his address during the annual lecture at the Ulefunta/Oyemekun festival in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Friday.

If PMB’s Government Has Pulled You Out Of Poverty, Raise Up Your Hands

According to Kukah, no President in the world could boast of the kind of power available to the Nigerian President.

His words: “No President in the world has the kind of power the Nigerian president has and as such, no President in the world can be as irresponsible as the Nigerian President.

“His power is so much that he can give oil bloc to his girlfriend and many others. You thus can’t be a man of honour and live in a country like Nigeria and not be angry.

“What is the problem? It is the dilemma of leadership. In America, there are basic expectations of what a President should be. For instance, he must have gone through Harvard as an institution, he must have language and track record, not even wealth. You can’t surprise the system.

“Here in Nigeria, a local government Chairman wants to be Governor; the Governor wants to be President and the President doesn’t want to go! Many states have two governors representing them at the National Assembly. Governors have control and monopoly of resources of state and they use same resources to oppress them.”

Victory For El-Rufai’s Aide As Shehu Sani Loses APC Senatorial Primaries

Senator Shehu Sani has lost the APC ticket for Kaduna Central Senatorial District after the primaries conducted by delegates from the zone in which he garnered only 15 votes.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports however that Sani had earlier indicated that he would not participate in what he called a “Kangaroo election organised by the Kaduna State Government.”

The election was conducted at the Murtala Square in Kaduna on Saturday.

BREAKING: Atiku Beats Tambuwal, Saraki, Others To Win PDP Presidential Primary

The Returning Officer, Prof. Eddie Floyd-Igbo declared Uba Sani, a Special Adviser to Gov. Nasiru El-Rufa’i, as the winner with 2,088 votes, while his closest rival, Usman Ibrahim-Sardauna was said to have secured only 129 votes.

Also, a former senator, Gen. Sani Sale, who represented the constituency from 2011 to 2015 secured 55 votes, followed by Shamsudeen Giwa with 6 votes while 45 votes were declared invalid.

The election was conducted amidst uncertainty as to the position of the National Working Committee of the All Progressive Congress (APC) which had earlier cleared Shehu Sani as the sole candidate for the ticket in the zone.

Atiku Beats Tambuwal, Saraki, Others To Win PDP Presidential Primary

An erstwhile Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, has emerged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate for the 2019 election.

Atiku emerged victorious after a keenly contested primary held at Adokiye Amesiamaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Saturday.

The Chairman of the PDP Convention Committee and Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, announced the results of the primary on Sunday morning.

While the former VP polled 1,532 votes, Aminu Tambuwal polled 693 votes to place second.

Other results are, Bukola Saraki, 317 votes;  Jonah Jang,  19 votes; Datti Ahmed, 5 votes; David Mark , 35 votes; Tanimu Turaki, 65 votes; Sule Lamido, 96 votes; Attahiru Bafarawa, 48 votes; Ibrahim Dankwambo, 111 votes; Ahmed Makarfi, 74 votes and Rabiu Kwankwaso, 158 votes.

The 72-year-old Atiku, a businessman, served as the second elected vice-president of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007, on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), with President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He worked in the Nigeria Customs Service for twenty years, rising to become the Deputy Director before he retired in April 1989 to go into politics.

He ran for the office of governor in the Gongola State (now Adamawa and Taraba States) in 1991, and for the Presidency in 1993, placing third after MKO Abiola and Babagana Kingibe in the Social Democratic Party (SDP) primaries. In 1998 he was elected Governor of Adamawa State.

While still Governor-Elect he was selected by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate Olusegun Obasanjo as his running mate.

The duo went on to win elections in February 1999, and Abubakar was sworn-in as Nigeria’s second democratically elected vice president on 29 May 1999.

Abubakar’s second term as Vice President was marked by a stormy relationship with President Obasanjo.
