Man Climbs Billboard Hanger, Threatens To Fall Off If Buhari Doesn’t Resign Within 12 Hours

A middle-aged man in Yola, capital of Adamawa State, has climbed a 40-metre-tall billboard hanger, and vowed to fall off it unless President Muhammadu Buhari resigns within 12 hours.

SaharaReporters quoted Lawan Faro as saying that his action was necessitated by the “extreme poverty” in the land.

“I think it’s time for Buhari to give way for someone like Atiku Abubakar to lead us out of the present hardship”, he cried.

Faro further threatened to fall off after 12 hours if Atiku Abubakar does not show up to assure him of Buhari’s ouster in 2019.

“I will remain here for 12 hours to show my discontent, and someone not less than Atiku must come here to assure me that this government must be sacked in the forthcoming election.”

During the development, it was gathered that a large crowd gathered at the bottom of the tall billboard hanger, chanting “Sai Baba Buhari!”

Electricity: Fashola Claims Buhari Has Done Better Than PDP In 16 Years

Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, is claiming that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration has done better in power generation, transmission and distribution than the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) did in 16 years of its administration.

Fashola, a former governor of Lagos state for eight years, made this known while speaking at the Nigeria-South Africa Chamber of Commerce (NSACC) breakfast forum.

The minister explained that the achievements of the present government would be better felt if compared with the ‘realities’ it met on ground when it took over the reign of power in 2015.

“You will compare our record of three years with what we met after the previous 16 (sixteen) years,” he said.

“If you compare our performance record in three years with the 16 – year record of the previous administration in the areas of Generation, Transmission and Distribution you will get the following instructive results.”

“Incremental Generation of 1000MW per year against 4000MW in 16 years which amounts to 250MW per year, Transmission capacity improvement by 666MW per year against 5000MW in 16 years which amounts to 312.5MW per year and Distribution capacity improvement by 740MW per year as against 3,000MW in 16 years which amounts to 187.5MW per year.”

“I made it clear that our intention was to improve your power supply experience gradually rather than discuss the megawatts as the quantum of power, and that any reference to the megawatts would be measuring milestones of our progress in the journey of incremental power.”

“If you do not define your goal against your reality, progress will be difficult to recognise,” Mr Fashola said. “As to where we were in 2015, power generation was averaging 4,000 MW; transmission was averaging 5,000 MW and distribution was averaging 3,000 MW.

“As to what we promised, I stated in my very first public briefing in November 2015 that contrary to previous practice, we were committing to a journey; first of getting incremental power, with the plan to proceed to steady power, and ultimately get uninterrupted power.”

Group Threatens To Sack Members Without PVCs

Group Threatens To Sack Members Without PVCs

The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has threatened to relieve any of its executive members of their positions if they fail to obtain a Permanent Voter Card (PVC).

The threat was issued in a statement made available online on Tuesday by the Lagos State Chairman of RTEAN, Alhaji Mohammed Musa.

According to the statement, all executive members of the union across the chapels and zonal operations must either get their PVCs or lose their positions by January next year.

Musa, who undertook the PVCs’ verification for hundreds of union leaders from Ikorodu-Epe and Ojo zone II at the RTEAN secretariat in the state, said the association took the decision to be part of the civic efforts of supporting good governance in the country.

He said, “We will not allow anyone of our members to sit down without collecting his or her voter card.

“Our organisation believes that the only way we can vote in leaders we want, those that are working and vote out those we believe are not for the masses is having the PVCs.”

“The weapon we have is only the voter card; that is why is very important for every member to have the card ready before 2019.

“Anyone of my members I find not having the PVCs will have their position taken away while those that have the PVCs will take such position.”

Musa urged the exco members who came with temporary voter cards, to get the permanent cards, said the verification exercise would be repeated in January to enable them to have the PVCs.

“By January, I will still call for this verification; any member that does not have the permanent card will lose their position in the union. I give those who are in possession of the temporary card up until January to get the PVCs.

“I will give out the position of anyone who will not have the card by January. Go and get the permanent card,” he added.

Bear in mind that the Lagos State Chapter of the association said it had commenced an ‘Operation Show Your Permanent Voter Card’ for all its members ahead of the 2019 general elections.

British Govt Briefs Nigeria On Plan To Issue Travel Document To IPOB Leader Kanu

There are strong indications that the British government has briefed the Nigerian government about the temporary travel document they are about to issue to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu Reveals Why He Left Nigeria For Israel (Full Statement)

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a top official of the ministry of foreign affairs disclosed this to newsmen on the condition of anonymity in Abuja on Tuesday, October 23.

Kanu is a dual citizen of Nigeria and Britain.

IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu Resurfaces In Jerusalem (VIDEO)

The Punch quoted the source as saying that in informing the Federal Government of their intention, the British authorities made it clear that they have the best intentions towards Nigeria.

“The British authorities have briefed the Nigerian government about the temporary travel documents they are about to issue to Nnamdi Kanu, who holds a Nigeria-UK dual citizenship.

“It shows that they have the best intentions towards the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the source said.

Radio Biafra had some days ago published a video where Kanu was seen observing religious rites in Israel.

The IPOB leader, who was sighted in Israel last week, had pledged to return to Nigeria soon.

Nnamdi Kanu Is Like Ojukwu Who Fled The Country After Causing Many Deaths

In his first address in 13 months, Kanu said:

“I have returned full-time and I am coming home and I will bring hell with me.”

But the presidency dismissed Kanu’s outburst, assuring Nigerians that there is no reason to worry.

The senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, gave the assurance in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday.

“Instead, we see the re-enactment of his bizarre, episodic threat as a mere distraction which will not be allowed to detract from the existing cordial relationships between Nigeria and other countries,” he said.

FG To Limit Number Of Children A Nigerian Mother Must Have

The Federal Government has stated that it was working hard to come out with a policy that would limit the number of children that a mother could have in Nigeria.

The government also stated that traditional rulers and other leaders across the country were being engaged as regards this, adding that the move was aimed at addressing one of the “great challenges” in the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan of the Federal Government.

The disclosure was made by the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, while responding to questions during a session at the 24th Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja.

According to her, the country’s population had been identified as one of the great challenges confronting the successful implementation of the ERGP.

She said: “We have been engaging traditional rulers and other leaders. Specifically, we have found out that to be able to address one of the great challenges that we identified in the ERGP, which is the growth in our population, we need to engage these institutions.

“And we hope that with their support, we will get to a point where we can come out with the policy that limits the number of children that a mother can have because that is important for sustaining our growth.”

Reactions Trail Ernest Shonekan’s Death Rumour

Reactions have trailed the rumour of the death of a former Head of Interim National Government of Nigeria, Chief Ernest Shonekan.

But the Ogun State Government and Chief Layi Labode, the media aide to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, on Tuesday evening debunked the rumour, saying it was far from being true.

The rumoured death of Shonekan swirled into the city of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Tuesday evening.

However, the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, later dispelled the rumour through a telephone call to journalists.

He said, “It is a lie from hell. Baba is alive.”

In the same vein, Labode said he spoke with Shonekan’s Personal Assistant, one Mr Dickson,  who refuted the story.

He said Dickson also disclosed that the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, had phoned him and he (Dickson) confirmed to him that Chief Shonekan, who is the Babasale of Egbaland, was alive.

He added that his (Shonekan’s) media aide, Mr Gbenga Fasina, also said his boss was alive.

“We shall keep you informed if there’s any development,” Labode said.
