Paul Pogba remains open to the idea of returning to Juventus in 2019 following the warm reception he got from the club’s fans and former team-mates on Tuesday at Old Trafford. The Manchester United midfielder is Juve’s No.1 transfer priority next summer and the France international is said to be impressed by coach Massimiliano Allegri and is excited by the idea of playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. Pogba also embraced chairman Andrea Agnelli before the 1-0 win over United. (Tuttosport)

Paris Saint-Germain have lined up Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne as a replacement for Neymar, if the Brazil international leaves the Parc des Princes next summer. Neymar remains a target of Real Madrid and Barcelona and while PSG would like to hold onto their star asset have formulated a contingency plan. Insigne is a like-for-like replacement on the left-wing, although Napoli president Aurelio Di Laurentiis values him at €200m (£175m). (Calciomercato)

Napoli president Aurelio Di Laurentiis claims the club will not listen to any offers for Brazilian midfielder Allan, who he believes is worth more than €90m (£80m). Allan was outstanding in Napoli’s 2-2 draw at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday and has admirers in the Premier League and La Liga. The 27-year-old is under contract at the Stadio San Paolo until 2023. (Calciomercato)

Spain

Real Madrid general manager Jose Angel Sanchez stopped Florentino Perez from sacking Julen Lopetegui 20 minutes after their 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League. Perez was so incensed by the performance he wanted to dismiss the coach after the match but Sanchez, his closest confidante, told the president to prolong the decision until after the Clasico. Antonio Conte remains the most likely replacement with Jose Mourinho unavailable in the short-term. (El Confidencial)

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos insists the players want embattled coach Julen Lopetegui to stay. Despite the 2-1 Champions League victory over Viktoria Plzen – Madrid’s first for five matches – there were claims Lopetegui would be sacked ahead of the Clasico. After Madrid director Emiliano Butragueno insisted the former Spain coach would be in charge for the Barcelona game, Kroos said: “He is a good coach… we have had other complicated moments.” (AS)

Inter and Napoli wanted to sign Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez in the summer but were put off by the club’s €40m (£35m) price-tag. The 24-year-old suffered an injury during Barca’s pre-season tour of America and despite being declared fit on September 16 is yet to return to first-team action. The Spanish champions were willing to sell the former Manchester City youth-term prospect but Inter and Napoli thought the price was too high. (Mundo Deportivo)

France

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde never asked the club to sign former Tottenham transfer targetMalcom. The Brazilian winger has barely featured since arriving in the summer from Bordeaux after Barca signed him under the noses of Roma who thought they had a deal in place. Director of football Eric Abidal and sporting director Pep Segura wanted the 21-year-old because they felt he represented good value. (France Football)

PSG could make an ambitious attempt to sign Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak next summer for a world record €100m (£88m). The Slovenia international is yet to sign a contract extension in Madrid and PSG are prepared to pay his release clause despite already having Alphonse Areola and Gianluigi Buffon on their books. (Le 10 Sport)

Germany

Former Manchester City academy player Javairo Dilrosun signed for Hertha Berlin over Borussia Dortmund and Benfica because he knew he would receive more first-team football. The Dutch winger is the latest ex-City player to earn plaudits in the Bundesliga with two goals and three assists in his first seven games. The 20-year-old was also being chased by Dortmund and Benfica but wanted to play every week. (Sport Bild)

Antonio Conte Has Not Been Contacted By Real Madrid – Daniel Conte

Featured Image

Antonio Conte has not been contacted by Real Madrid over their managerial position, according to the Italian’s brother Daniele Conte.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Real Madrid had approached Antonio Conte as speculation surrounding the future of current Los Blancos boss Julen Lopetegui continues to gather pace.

Lopetegui will lead Madrid into Sunday’s El Clasico, but the former Spain boss is expected to lose his job sooner rather than later, and Conte is believed to be the Spanish outfit’s number one target.

The 49-year-old’s brother, however, has insisted that there has not been any contact between the two parties.

“Antonio has not received any contact from Real Madrid, he is currently on holiday,” Daniele Conte told Cadena Ser. “They are a great club but I cannot speak for him, but there has not been a phone call.”

Former Manchester United Midfielder Lee Sharpe Blasts Romelu Lukaku

Featured Image

Former Manchester United midfielder Lee Sharpe has said that the club should ‘send Romelu Lukakuon holiday for a couple of weeks’.

Romelu Lukaku has netted four times for United this season but is without a goal in his last eight matches at club level, and his form has been scrutinized over the last month.

Sharpe has claimed that the Belgium international ‘has the worst first touch he has seen for a striker’, and believes that United should rest the 25-year-old due to his current struggles.

“I’ve never seen a center-forward with such a bad touch. If your center-forward can’t hold the ball up, it makes it a very hard game,” Sharpe told talkSPORT.

“He’s saying he’s played a lot of football at the World Cup and since and that he’s feeling it. I think the best thing would be to give him a rest. Send him off on holiday for a couple of weeks.”

Ipswich Town Sack Manager Paul Hurst After Poor Start To Season

Featured Image

Ipswich Town have sacked manager Paul Hurst after just one win from 14 Championship games since his appointment in May.

Paul Hurst, 44, replaced Mick McCarthy but had to wait until October for his first – and only – league victory in charge.

A 2-0 defeat at Leeds on Wednesday was the seventh of his reign at Portman Road and proved to be his final match.

“I have decided that it is in the best interests of the football club that we appoint a new manager to take us forward,” said Ipswich owner Marcus Evans.

“Paul’s arrival here in the summer was welcomed by us all and we worked tirelessly to support him fully with his plans for player recruitment, training methodology, and backroom staff.

“But unfortunately those plans haven’t turned into positive results, which is why I have had to take this decision today.

“I am actively looking to appoint a new manager as soon as possible with experience, who will embrace the long-term vision we all have for the club and who can deliver the success that every Ipswich Town supporter craves,” Evans added.

Hurst took over after an impressive spell at Shrewsbury in which he took them to the League One play-offs after a third-place finish, having saved them from relegation the season prior.

Fulham Goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli Signs New Two-and-a-half Year Contract With The Club

Featured Image

Marcus Bettinelli has signed a contract extension with his Fulham to take his stay at the club until 2021.

Marcus Bettinelli faced increased competition for his place in the team following the summer arrivals of Sergio Rico and Fabri and looked to be out of favor at the beginning of the season.

However, since then he has fought his way back into the team and has impressed so much that he has been included in the last two England senior squads by Gareth Southgate.

Such form has meant that the ‘Cottagers’ have rewarded him with a contract extension to ensure that he will stay with the club until summer 2021.

“It’s something I’ve been wanting for a long time now. I’m really happy, it’s a proud moment for me and my family, and something that I’ve worked towards for a long time.” the shot-stopper told Fulham’s official website.

“The fans are a massive reason for me wanting to stay, I know how much they support me and how much they’re behind me, and it’s fantastic to see that.

“I know we’ve had a tough start to the new league, but they’ve continued to show their support and I’m pretty sure going into Saturday they’ll be up and ready for the game.”

Cottagers’ football executive Tony Khan added: ‘Marcus Bettinelli has been with Fulham Football Club for the past 12 years and he’s the perfect example as to why our academy is, and always will be, a focal point of who we are and what we do.

‘As everyone knows, we were all able to share the same joy Marcus experienced in goal in May when he kept a clean sheet in our squad’s historic Championship Play-Off Final win.

‘While that day was, for so many of us, the best or amongst the best we’d ever experienced, we now look forward to a bright future and many great days ahead in the Premier League.

‘Marcus helped us to achieve our objective last season, but we also believe he can contribute to our success for years to come.’

Clément Lenglet spoke of his desire to open his goalscoring account with Barcelona against Real Madrid.

Barcelona secured their third victory of the Champions League season on Wednesday night with a 2-0 result against Inter Milan, although Clément Lenglet did not score in the match.

His wish is now to get his first strike for the club in upcoming match against Real Madrid: “We’re really happy with the performance, but Sunday will be completely different. The goal didn’t come today, but let’s hope I can score against Madrid”

“We all played well as a team. When we play like that it makes a lot more difficult for the opponent to hurt us. It was a really good game from an attacking and defensive point of view.” he said.

Finally, the center-back spoke about Lionel Messi’s absence: “Saying that we’d rather him be playing for us is obvious, but for the next three weeks we will need to make his absence as have the least impact possible.”

Lai Finally Reacts To Reports That “He Threatened Israel over Nnamdi Kanu”

The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has spoken in denial to a viral news that claimed the federal government threatened Israel over Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).

The embattled IPOB leader had gone into hiding on September 14, 2017, after a military raid on his father’s residence in Abia state.

IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu Resurfaces In Jerusalem (VIDEO)

Kanu, who was being prosecuted for alleged treason, resurfaced in Israel on Friday, and later threatened to return to Nigeria with hell.

News of his appearance had triggered reports quoting Mohammed as saying Nigeria would launch an onslaught on Israel if they do not return Kanu to the country.

British Govt Briefs Nigeria On Plan To Issue Travel Document To IPOB Leader Kanu

However, while speaking with state house correspondents on Wednesday, the minister said the report shows the dangers fake news poses to the country.

His words: “I was in London when I heard the story about Nnamdi Kanu surfacing in Israel. I was not in a position to make any statement.”

“But before I knew it, within a few hours, I saw my picture with a story saying that I had actually given Israel ultimatum to return Nnamdi Kanu otherwise, we will send them missiles.

“I just laughed. It speaks to what we are talking about fake news because it is probably the biggest threat in the run-up to the elections.”

He also said Kanu’s appearance has vindicated the federal government over speculations he was killed by the military.

“I kept saying that Kanu knows where he is. He was not in the custody of the Federal Government. We have been vindicated today. Any other statement will be made in due course,” he said.

Nigerian singer Iceberg Slim has reacted to the now viral video where his former lover, Juliet Ibrahim, announced that their relationship had crashed.

Wizkid’s ‘Fever’ Video Sets New YouTube Record

The singer took to his Instagram stories yesterday, October 24, 2018, where he dropped what appears like a cryptic but direct message towards his former girlfriend.

Iceberg Slim Reacts As Juliet Ibrahim Confirms Breaks Up With Singer“When a toxic person can no longer control you, they’ll try and control how other people see you. The misinformation will feel unfair, but stay above it, trusting that other people will see the truth, just like you did,” he wrote.

Juliet Ibrahim had earlier confirmed that her relationship with the Nigerian rapper is over.

Speaking at an event in Ghana, she said “I made it clear I was single. I am single.”

Buhari Was Right: Nigerian Youths Are Lazy By Mike Stan

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

A few months ago Mr. President and Commander-in-Chief, Muhammadu Buhari, shocked the world with his submission that Nigerian youths are lazy. Social media went agog with the news. But today, only a few months after, all that noise is washed ashore, and it is evident that Buhari was right.

This piece was written by Mike Stan. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

How can over 100 million people under 40 be looking to a 72-year-old to rescue us from an 82-year-old? Isn’t that just non-compos mentis? They chant Atikulated! Atikulated! Isn’t that how they all chanted Sai Buhari! Sai Buhari! almost 4years ago? Look where all that chants and foolishness has brought all of us, yet Nigerians still haven’t learnt from their mistakes or read the handwriting on the wall.

Twenty years is enough proof that neither old age nor political experience is the answer to Nigeria’s monumental challenges as is evident in the emergence of Nigeria as the poverty-capital of the world amidst being one of the world’s most corrupt nations, with a debt profile of N22.4Trillion while her senators and top office holders smile to the bank with incredulous paychecks and allowances to the slavery of the common Nigerian!

I write to say, and support Mr. President, that indeed Nigerian youths are not just the laziest of all youths in the world, but they are the most miserable of human beings alive. How can we come through such a history of collosal mismanagement of Nigerian funds and gross disrespect of the Nigerian people by our leaders and still have the audacity to open our mouths or carry our legs to support these old-recycled-corrupt-stomach infrastructure politicians?

How can 100million Nigerian youths amongst whom we have vibrant, competent, and able young men who can, without any doubt, steer this nation back on course to the greatness that she once was known for, be at the verge of sharing their precious votes and voices among 2 old-retired comrades who should have nothing to do on the corridors of power but be in their homes receiving elderly care? “Tofiakwa” Nigerian youths!

Shame on every Nigerian youth who is using their energy, time, talent and expertise to support Atiku or Buhari. Shame on every Nigerian youth who is foolish enough to think that the time has come to partake of their own portion of the national cake. Shame on every Nigerian youth who for a paltry sum is ready to sell off his future and that of his unborn children to people who have absolutely no interest in the progress of this nation.

Shame on you all. You are the problem of this country—all of you who have, with your eyes wide open—decided to foolishly continue to enjoy slavery in the hands of this wicked-inconsiderate-selfish and greedy masters of yours who parade themselves as politicians.

This nation and her generations unborn will not forgive you for selling off their future and for bringing untold hardship and handing down a nation of poverty, chaos, and war to them.

I pray, like our national anthem captures perfectly, that God will help the youths of this nation the truth to know, direct the noble cause of this great country, and especially guide our leaders right so that the labours of our heroes past will not be in vain, to the end that once again we might have a nation that is bound in peace, unity, progress and prosperity. So help us God!

CBN: Forex Ban On Rice, Toothpicks, 39 Items Lifted Nigeria Out Of Recession

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has disclosed that the restriction of forex supply on 41 items including rice and toothpicks helped in lifting the economy out of recession.

Speaking with newsmen on Wednesday at the opening ceremony of a seminar for finance correspondents and business editors in Lokoja, Emefiele said the policy helped in reversing the multiple challenges of dwindling foreign reserves.

“In today’s world, countries have used trade protection repeatedly as a policy to resolve negative perceptions and shocks in their respective countries,” the governor, who was represented by Moses Tule, director of CBN’s monetary policy department, said.

“In other words, should Nigeria, with an insatiable taste for foreign goods to the detriment of the domestic economic realities, throw its borders open to the indiscriminate importation of goods and services?

“This was the prevailing condition in Nigeria before the introduction of restriction of official foreign exchange for the importation of 41 items.

“The implementation of the (restriction of forex for the importation) 41 items, in addition to the other complementary macroeconomic policies, no doubt, was effective in lifting the Nigerian economy out of recession.”

The CBN had on June 23, 2015, placed a restriction on accessing forex in the official forex market for the importation of some goods and services.

The aim, it said then, was to encourage local production of the items, conserve the foreign reserves, resuscitate domestic industries and boost employment creation.

Some of the items barred from accessing forex at the official market were rice, cement, poultry, tinned fish, furniture, toothpicks, kitchen utensils, table wares, textiles, clothes, tomato pastes, soap and cosmetics.

Also affected were private jets, roofing sheets, metal boxes, wire rods, steel nails, security and razor nails, ceramic tiles, glassware, cellophane, plastic and rubber products.

Two victories from two games in the month under review saw the Super Eagles move up four places from September’s 48th spot.

In Africa, the Super Eagles are now third on the ladder just behind Tunisia and Senegal.

Congo DR, Morocco, Cameroon, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire complete the roster of Africa’s top ten teams.

Sahle-Work Zewde: Ethiopia Appoints First Woman President – Africa’s Only Female Head Of State

Ethiopia on Thursday, October 25, appointed Sahle-Work Zewde – a woman – to the largely ceremonial position of president for the first time.

In a unanimous vote, the country’s lawmakers picked career diplomat Sahle-Work Zewde to replace Mulatu Teshome who resigned.

Her election to the ceremonial position comes a week after Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed appointed a cabinet with half the posts taken up by women.

After being sworn in, President Sahle-Work promised to work hard to make gender equality a reality in Ethiopia.

Addressing parliament, she also pledged to promote peace:

“I urge you all, to uphold our peace, in the name of a mother, who is the first to suffer from the absence of peace.”

Sahle-Work, who is in her late 60s, has been Ethiopia’s ambassador to France, Djibouti, Senegal and the regional bloc, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

Before her appointment as president she was the UN’s top official at the African Union. She is fluent in English and French as well as Amharic.

As president she is expected to serve two six-year terms.

NLC Tells Nigerians To Stock Up On Food As It Vows To Shutdown Nigeria On Nov 6

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has informed Nigerians to ensure they stock up on food as it will soon shut down the entire country on November 6.

This disclosure was made in a communiqué issued at the end of an emergency meeting of its National Executive Council in Abuja on Tuesday.

In the communiqué signed by the President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba, and its General Secretary, Dr Peter Ozo-Eson, the union directed all affiliate unions, state councils, civil society allies, the informal sector and other friends of workers and lovers of democracy to commence immediate mobilisation of their members.

The NLC also poured its displeasure at the government for its ‘no work, no pay’ policy, adding that what should have been implemented was ‘no pay, no work’.

The statement added, “The NEC advised Nigerians to start stocking up food and other necessities of life as workers will ensure a total shut down of the country.

“The NEC-in-session similarly condemned the government for its design/plan to clamp down on labour via selective and erroneous invocation of the ‘no work, no pay” clause in the Trade Disputes Act, noting that the right to strike is both a human and trade union right and cannot be abridged as it is what distinguishes a worker from a slave.”

The NLC maintained that the national minimum wage must be N30,000 even as it accused the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, of insincerity.

I Never Had Doubts About Mohamed Salah’s Form – Jurgen Klopp

Featured Image

Jurgen Klopp hopes talk of Mohamed Salah’s early-season slump will be quashed by his two-goal haul in Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Red Star Belgrade.

Mohamed Salah was back to his best as Liverpool beat Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.

Salah scored twice for Liverpool, scoring his 50th goal in 65 games for Liverpool – not bad at all.

‘The Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp told ‘Sky Sports’ after the game that he “never doubted” that Salah would return to his best.

“I was not in doubt, he was not in doubt, but if you are constantly asked about it, you think something is up.

“You should not think about it, you should not constantly think about how can I score again? It only happens if you work hard, if you are in the right spaces, if your team-mates see you in the right moments and if you make the right runs, then you can score.

“It is an exceptional number and hopefully he can continue.”

Liverpool got an important win after losing in Naples last gameweek. “I think we are not through yet,” Klopp added, whose side travel to Red Star Belgrade in their next match.

“This group will obviously stay exciting until the end, which I thought was pretty clear immediately after the draw.

“You cannot do more than win your own games and then the situation changes in your favour. That happened tonight. But it doesn’t say too much about the group, to be honest.”

Everton Football Club Step Up Plans For A New Stadium

Featured Image

Everton are now planning to lodge a application late next summer for their proposed new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock.

Everton have confirmed that they have launched a public consultation phase under the name ‘The People’s Project’ as they seek public backing before firming plans for their move.

The first public consultation will start on November 15 and will visit various locations over 17 days.

Everton are asking the public to support the concept of a move to Bramley-Moore Dock and the legacy plan for Goodison Park which could include the development of community led amenities.

Everton Chief Executive Officer Denise Barrett-Baxendale told ‘Sky Sports’: “This consultation marks a very significant moment as we progress with this project. We would like as many people as possible – and not just football fans – to take part and let us know their views.

“Our ambition is not just to create a new home for a very proud and historic football club but also a new landmark stadium, in an iconic setting, which will deliver huge regeneration benefits for the whole of the Liverpool City Region.

“We have deep roots in L4 and are committed to building on the extensive investment we have already made in the area. We are preparing plans to redevelop the existing stadium site to create facilities which will benefit the whole community, creating jobs and improving lives.

“Everton is committed to delivering an authentic football stadium which responds to Liverpool’s World Heritage Site designation. The plans we are developing will respect the historic features of the site and complement its surroundings

Jorginho Needs To Rest – Maurizio Sarri

Featured Image

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has revealed that Jorginho will play no part of the Europa League match against BATE Borisov.

Jorginho has established himself as a regular in the Chelsea side since joining from Napoli in the summer, with 11 starts being made in all competitions.

The 26-year-old has also played four times for Italy, and that has resulted in Sarri claiming that Jorginho requires a rest ahead of the weekend clash with Burnley.

At a press conference, Sarri told reporters: “Jorginho needs to rest now because he played 90 minutes in two matches for his national team, and then he played for 90 minutes in the last match.

“I think it’s time to rest for him.”
