“I’m Not Jubril From Sudan” – Buhari Finally Reacts To Death Rumours

President Muhammadu Buhari has finally denied speculations that he had passed on at a London hospital where he was receiving treatment and he had been cloned.

FG Finally Addresses Rumours That Buhari Was Cloned With Jibril

Quite a number of high-profile figures in Nigeria, including a former government minister, Femi Fani-Kayode and the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) movement, Nnamdi Kanu, have claimed that Buhari has died and been replaced by a lookalike from Sudan.

However, reacting to this, Buhari while speaking in Poland on Sunday said the speculations were all “hopes that he had died”

‘‘It’s real me, I assure you. I will soon celebrate my 76th birthday and I will still go strong.’’

Responding to a question from a Nigerian in the Diaspora who wanted to know if he was real or the much talked about ‘‘Jubril from Sudan’’ – his supposed double- President Buhari described the authors of the confusion about him as ‘‘ignorant and irreligious.’’

‘‘A lot of people hoped that I died during my ill health. Some even reached out to the Vice President to consider them to be his deputy because they assumed I was dead. That embarrassed him a lot and of course, he visited me when I was in London convalescing… It’s real me; I assure you,’’ he declared.

Fuel Crisis Looms As Marketers Give FG 7-Day Ultimatum To Pay N800b Subsidy Debts

Fuel Crisis Looms As Marketers Give FG 7-Day Ultimatum To Pay N800b Subsidy Debts

Oil marketers on Sunday in Lagos gave the federal government seven-day ultimatum to settle outstanding debts totalling N800 billion, failing which depots would cease operations across the country.

Although the state firm, NNPC, is currently the sole importer of petrol into Nigeria, it relies on the depots of the oil marketers to store and transfer petrol. Any closure of the depots by the marketers could thus lead to a fresh round of fuel scarcity similar to that witnessed in December last year.

The marketers, comprising Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN), Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association (DAPPMA) and Independent Petroleum Products Importers (IPPIs), said failure to meet the deadline would also force its members to disengage workers from depots.

Confirming the seven-day notice, Patrick Etim, Legal Adviser to IPPI told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that banks have taken over investments and assets of oil marketers over unpaid debts.

According to Mr Etim, marketers have no choice than to ask their workers to stay at home over unpaid salary arrears due to huge subsidy debts owed by the government.

“The only way to salvage the situation is for government to pay the oil marketers the outstanding debts through cash option instead of (the) promissory note being proposed.

“As I speak, nothing has been done several months after assurances received by (the) government saying it would pay off the outstanding debts.

“The oil marketers have requested that forex differential and interest component of government’s indebtedness to marketers be calculated up to December 2018 and be paid within next seven days from the date of the letter sent to the government,’’ he said.

Mr Etim said that several thousand jobs were on the line in the industry, as oil marketers began the cut-down of their workforce due to inability to pay salaries.

“At the inception of the current administration, marketers engaged the government with the view to secure approval for all outstanding subsidy-induced debts handed over to the current administration,’’ he said.

He said the current administration paid part of the debts but added that a substantial portion of the subsidy interest and foreign exchange differential was still pending.

The Executive Secretary of DAPPMA, Olufemi Adewole, also confirmed the seven-day ultimatum notice to NAN

Mr Adewole disclosed that the oil marketers on November 28 served the ultimatum letter on the Debt Management Office (DMO), Minister of Finance, Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Downstream, Department of State Services and Minister of State, Petroleum Resources.

“We urge the DMO to process and pay marketers in cash for their outstanding forex differentials and interest component claims, together with the amount already approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) and the National Assembly.

“Marketers are not in a position to discount payment on the subsidy-induced debt owed as proposed by DMO.

“The expected payment is made up of bank loans, outstanding admin charges due to PPPRA, outstanding bridging fund due Petroleum Equalisation Fund (Management) Board and in a few cases AMCON judgment debts.

“We urge that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved payment instrument, (the promissory note) be substituted with cash and paid through our bankers to stop the avoidable waste of public funds through these debts accruing interest,’’ he said.

DAPPMA also urged government institutions involved in resolving the lingering problem to appreciate the situation marketers faced and expedite payment of the debts in full without further delay.

The federal government is yet to react to the latest ultimatum by the marketers. However, the NNPC recently said it has enough petrol to last Nigerians for over 30 days in the case of an emergency.

Timi Dakolo Speaks On Marriage Doubts, May Release Two Songs For Christmas

Top Nigerian vocalist, Timi Dakolo, has admitted that he had doubts about getting married at the time when he wanted to tie the knot.

MUSIC: Timi Dakolo – I Never Know Say

The award-winning singer, who is married to Busola and blessed with three adorable children, said this during a chat with The Punch.

His words: “Every man will always have doubts at that point they want to get married. The night before my wedding day, I asked myself if I was ready to commit my life to my wife. I thought I would lose my freedom and many other things.”

“But if a woman gives you peace of mind, what else are you looking for? A lot of people leave their marriages because they don’t have peace of mind. Some married men always wake up and feel sad for themselves, but my case is not like that.”

The “Wish Me Well” crooner also spoke on why he has not released any new material in a while and his plans to release two songs for Christmas.

He said: “I have worked on many songs. As a matter of fact, I am working on an album.  The other day, Cobhams Asuquo  told me he didn’t understand why I stored all my songs on the phone. I will probably release two songs for Christmas. Whenever I need to release a new material, I feel the urge; I feel it is my time.

Strike: ASUU Reacts To FG’s ‘No Work, No Pay’ Policy

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has described the federal government’s “no work, no pay” policy on striking university lecturers as shameless.

The Federal Government of Nigeria had directed vice-chancellors of striking public universities across the country to enforce “no-work-no-pay” rule on the striking lecturers.

The directive to implement the “no work, no pay” policy was communicated to the universities in a memo sent by the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) to university vice-chancellors and made available online on Friday, November 30.

The memo reads, “In view of the current Industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the federal government has directed that there shall be no payment of any form of salaries and allowances to the staff on strike in federal and inter-varsity centers.

“Consequently, I am to direct Vice-Chancellors to apply the “No-work-no-pay” rule. However, Universities and inter-varsity centers are to pay salaries and allowances to Non-teaching staff.

“All Vice Chancellors and Directors of centers should note that the salaries to staff on strike from whatever source of funds shall be viewed as violation of extant rules and directive of the federal government of Nigeria.”

However, the Chairman of University of Ibadan chapter of ASUU, Deji Omole, disclosed that members of the union would not be intimidated by the government’s move.

He said despite the debt, the government still wants lecturers to continue to work while the presidency and the National Assembly ‘feed fat’ on the wealth of the nation.

He continued: “We have passed this road before. It is a familiar terrain which we can navigate with our eyes closed.

“We shall triumph any attempt to destroy the common patrimony. The power of the people is stronger than the people in power.”

Ali Baba Reveals What He Fears About Nigerian Political System

Ace Nigerian comedian, Ali baba, has said that he will never run for a political post in this present-day Nigeria, adding that his fear is that there can’t be credible elections when the voting system is not credible.

Omotola Jalade Speaks On Her Music Career, Talks About Collaboration With Her Son

In a recent chat with The Punch, the comedian, who is one of the most vocal celebrities when it comes to social and political issues, noted that he doesn’t have faith in the Nigerian political system.

His words: “I think Banky W and other entertainers running for political offices have a stronger belief in the system than I do. I don’t think there can be credible elections when the voting system is not credible. That has been my fear. Also, we are still practising money politics, which means that an individual with the biggest pocket takes the slot.”

“I don’t understand why the person who used the maze to hit the head of his colleague in the Senate is still there. Once you have embarrassed the chamber, you should be thrown out. Why are they yet to prosecute the people who went into the chamber and carried the maze? Why should it take so long to put people who said a snake swallowed money in jail? When the constitution is strengthened and the political scene is convenient for people who don’t use money to contest elections, then I can go into politics.”

Wilder Retains WBC Heavyweight Title In Thrilling Split Draw With Fury

Wilder Retains WBC Heavyweight Title In Thrilling Split Draw With Fury

Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury battled to a controversial split-decision draw in their WBC heavyweight title showdown Saturday, triggering immediate demands from both camps for a rematch.

Wilder, who retains his WBC belt after 12 rounds of pulsating action, had Fury on the canvas twice at the Staples Center in Los Angeles but was unable to deliver the knockout he had promised his fans.

The three judges were divided on the outcome, with one scoring it 115-111 for Wilder, another 114-112 for Fury and the third 113-113.

But while the scoring drew criticism, with many arguing that Fury had done enough to win, there was a marked absence of animosity after the bout.

Instead, the main talking point from a thrilling contest was Fury’s miraculous recovery after being knocked down by Wilder in the 12th round.

The 30-year-old Briton, who had boxed skillfully to frustrate and outpoint the aggressive but inaccurate Wilder, looked to have finally been beaten when the American champion uncorked a savage right-left combination that sent him sprawling to the floor.

Wilder celebrated as if he had won and members of his entourage moved to climb into the ring, only to stare in disbelief as Fury somehow cleared his head and got to his feet.

“I really thought I had him out of there,” Wilder said afterwards.

“I saw the eyes in his head rolling, I saw the ref checking on him and I thought, ‘It’s over’. I don’t know how he got up,” the 33-year-old added.

Fury, who won the unified world title from Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 only to lose his belts as he battled depression, alcohol and drug problems, was equally baffled.

“I don’t know,” Fury said. “I had a holy hand upon me tonight and brought me back. I’ve got good fighting spirit.”

– ‘We’re both warriors’ –

While both men felt they had done enough to win the fight, both accepted the result.

“I’m not going to sit here and complain, and scream robbery or whatever,” Fury said. “I thought I won the fight. I’ll leave the audience to make up their mind.”

Wilder, who also had Fury on the deck in the ninth round, was adamant he had won.

“I think with the two knockdowns I definitely won the fight,” said Wilder afterwards. “We poured our hearts out tonight. We’re both warriors, but with those two drops, I think I won the fight.”

Wilder, who remains unbeaten after 41 fights, immediately called for a rematch.

“I would love for it to be my next fight,” Wilder said. “Let’s give the fans what they want to see. It was a great fight and let’s do it again.”

Fury also said he hopes to arrange a rematch.

“One hundred percent we’ll do the rematch,” Fury said.

“We are two great champions. Me and this man are the two best heavyweights on the planet,” added Fury, who exited his press conference after leading a rousing chorus of Don McLean’s classic “American Pie.”

– Whistling haymakers –

Until Wilder’s sensational final round knockdown, Fury appeared to be heading for what would have been a remarkable upset.

The self-proclaimed “Gypsy King”, who returned to boxing this year after missing more than two years, had boxed cleverly to evade the heavy-hitting threat of Wilder for most of the fight.

The American champion struggled to connect cleanly with Fury throughout an absorbing contest, all too often sending huge arcing haymakers whistling past Fury’s head.

Wilder landed just 71 of 430 punches thrown, or barely 17 percent.

Fury by contrast picked his moments to attack, finding Wilder with greater accuracy and causing a nasty swelling over the American’s left eye.

Wilder, the more aggressive of the two fighters early on, quickly moved into the lead after the opening rounds.

But Fury gradually grew in confidence, regularly taunting Wilder by throwing his arms up in the air or behind his back.

Wilder responded with increasingly desperate flurries of big punches, very few of which found their mark.

As several former heavyweights had predicted beforehand, the longer the fight went on, the more Fury looked in control.

However, in the ninth round, Wilder finally made his mark, dropping Fury with a short hook that had the fans on their feet.

Fury however recovered well and regained his composure to resume where he had left off.

With a large contingent of British fans in the audience of 17,698 roaring him on, a victory suddenly seemed within reach.

Wilder however suddenly found a devastating combination just when he needed it in the 12th round.

A right hand sent Fury rocking backwards towards the deck and a brutal left hand on the way down appeared to be the coup de grace for the challenger.

Fury’s extraordinary Lazarus act however ensured the fight would go to the judges.

Eminem Calls Out Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber And More In Epic 11-Minute “Kick Off Freestyle”

Eminem on Friday, December 1, released an 11-minute freestyle that name-drops Ariana Grande, Reese Witherspoon, Justin Bieber, Jada Pinkett Smith, Laci Peterson, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and more.

Eminem produced Bodied, a new battle-rap satire from famous music video director Joseph Kahn, and he tweeted, “The release of BODIED has me feeling nostalgic about battle rap so I headed down to my old stomping grounds.”

The freestyle, called “Kick Off,” was recorded live at the Shelter at St. Andrew’s Hall in Detroit.

“I’ve always looked at battle rap as competition or war,” Eminem begins. “And the main objective is to destroy, complete fuckin’ obliterate your opponent, by saying anything and everything, whatever the fuck you can, to get a reaction from the crowd. So nothing’s off limits.”

He goes on to reference the Manchester bombing in the first verse: “Seeing Ariana Grande sing her last song of the evening/ And as the audience from the damn concert is leaving, detonates the device strapped to his abdominal region/ I’m not gonna finish that for obvious reasons.”

The verse also depicts Justin Bieber as a Catholic school boy selling drugs in secret. “Justin Bieber in a Catholic school selling dust and reefer when your back is to him,” Em raps. “Don’t adjust your speaker / I’ll cuss the stripes off a fuckin’ zebra when I’m at the zoo.”

Bayern Munich Boss Nico Kovac Pleased As They Return To Winning Ways In The Bundesliga

Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac congratulated his players after they recorded a hard-fought 2-1 win at Werder Bremen

Bayern Munich finally got their first Bundesliga victory since October 27 thanks mainly to Serge Gnabry, who scored both goals for the visitors against his former club on Saturday.

Bayern could have scored more in a game they dominated for long periods, yet their profligacy in front of goal kept Bremen – who had defender Niklas Moisander sent off in stoppage time – in the contest right through to the final whistle.

“My team turned in an exceptionally good display,” the Croatian told the club’s website. “We dominated the match technically, tactically but towards the end also in terms of fighting spirit. We did a really good job today.

“If there’s something I find fault with, it’s our conversion of chances. I counted six, seven more gilt-edged chances we should have converted into goals.

“But I liked it that way – without the ball we all defended together, with quick turnovers. You saw we had space and could make use of our quality up front.

“I’d like to congratulate my team on the performance.”
