Drake curse: Roma banned players from taking photos with Drake

Featured Image

Layvin Kurzawa became the latest victim of the ‘Drake Curse’ following Paris Saint-Germain’s shock…

Roma have hilariously banned all of their players from having their pictures taken with pop star Drake… because he’s believed to be a ‘curse’ to football teams.

The Canadian singer has gained a reputation for being a bad luck charm after posing with players or wearing team shirts.

Paul Pogba saw Drake perform at the Manchester Arena and got a picture taken with him – not long before Manchester United lost 2-1 to Wolves in the FA Cup.

It was a similar story for Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who was at one of Drake’s seven shows at the O2 in London.

After losing 1-0 to Everton the following weekend, plenty of Gooners will probably be wishing he’d never posed for a picture.

Sergio Aguero is the third Premier League player people think Drake has cursed in recent weeks.

He missed a penalty in the Champions League as Man City lost 1-0 to Tottenham earlier this month, not long after he’d been photographed with Drake at a show.
Report

And could the rapper also be to blame for Borussia Dortmund losing 5-0 to Bayern Munich, after hanging out with their English rising star Jadon Sancho? At this point, why not?

The Drake Curse has become a bit of a social media phenomenon in recent years.

In a way, it kicked off with Drake’s beloved NBA team the Toronto Raptors. He became a global ambassador for the club in 2013, and can be seen cheering them on from the sidelines whenever they’ve got a big game.

Unfortunately though, the last six years have seen the Raptors develop a bit of a reputation for choking in those big games.

BREAKING: Paul Scholes Charged With Misconduct After Placing 140 Bets On Football Matches Between 2015 And 2019

Featured Image

Paul Scholes has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association after breaking strict betting rules.

Scholes, 44, has become the latest high profile star to fall foul of FA rules on gambling on football.

He has until 26 April 2019 to respond to the charge.

Scholes is alleged to have placed 140 bets on football matches over a four-year period, between August 2015 and January 2019, during the time he was a co-owner of Salford City.

The FA has strict rules preventing players, managers, agents and anyone involved in the game on gambling on football.

It is believed that Scholes’ offence is more likely to result in a fine and warning rather than lengthy suspension.

Paul Scholes recently left his role as manager of League Two strugglers Oldham Athletic.

Oldham were sitting at the bottom of League Two when the Manchester United legend took over in February before overseeing seven games, which he won one, drew three and lost the remaining three games.

Manchester United Have The Ability To Overcome Barcelona Deficit – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Featured Image

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said his players know they have it in them to come up with another Champions League come-back and overturn Barcelona at Camp Nou but says they have to improve on their first leg performance to do so.

Solskjaer oversaw a disappointing defeat at Old Trafford in the first leg, with Luke Shaw’s own goal separating the sides and putting Barcelona in a favourable position to advance ahead of Tuesday’s second leg.

“Belief is massive,” the Norwegian said, via the Manchester Evening News, ahead of the crunch tie in Catalonia. “Everyone’s got talent and a certain ability. We’ve seen against PSG we have the ability to come back against a massive team.

“Barcelona historically is the best but if we give our all, get that better concentration [then we have a chance].”

While the PSG victory will buoy them ahead of their trip to Spain, another source of encouragement for The Red Devils will be their impressive form on the road in Europe this season. They have won three from four away from home, losing only to Valencia in the final group game.

That’s a stark contrast to their record at Old Trafford, where they have played five matches and won just once, and Solskjaer theorised as to why that could be, adding that getting  the first goal in Spain will be crucial if they are to add to their admirable away record.

“Maybe teams are a bit more open against us,” he said. “Maybe they feel they have to try to get their goals.

“Maybe it is coincidence. We scored against PSG after two minutes, that is a big massive factor. If we get the first goal that is going to be so important then we are level and from then on a draw [on aggregate] would suit us.

“We have got the players. Sometimes it is luck, sometimes it is David at the other end saving.”

David Luiz Praises Jurgen Klopp’s Impact At Liverpool

Featured Image

David Luiz has spoken highly of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, saying prior to the Reds’ 2-0 victory over Chelsea that the German consistently improves his players.

His praise comes as Klopp’s side sit atop the Premier League with four games remaining and have shown dramatic signs of improvement since Klopp took over in 2015.

“He improves every single player,” the Brazilian told Sky Sports. “He has done it with everybody, with the full-backs, with the defenders, the goalkeeper, the midfield.

“Especially the strikers because they play in the same way, with the same passion and the same spirit.

“That is why they are doing amazing, but football can sometimes be a bit cruel because they are doing amazing but at the moment City are winning the title. It is a pressure for everybody.”

Luiz’s praise looks almost prophetic in hindsight, as goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah inflicted defeat on Chelsea.
