Chelsea fans showcases banner pleading with Eden Hazard to stay at final game of season

Featured Image

The Chelsea fans at the stadium showcases a very clear message to Eden Hazard at their final game of the season on Sunday.

The Blues’ travelling support at Leicester produced a banner prior to kick-off that simply read: “Eden Hazard bleeds blue. Chelsea is your home.”

Hazard started on the bench at the King Power Stadium after playing 120 minutes in the side’s Europa League semi-final victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.

Maurizio Sarri’s men were taken all the way to penalties, emerging victorious with Hazard netting the winner.

Despite being among the substitutes, he will have undoubtedly seen the banner which was on show for all to see and picked up by TV cameras.

Hazard has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid on several occasions during his time at Stamford Bridge, though the transfer now seems inevitable to go through this summer.

The Belgian has just one year left on his Blues contract and, at 29 years of age, is expected to depart the club and join up with Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu.

Manchester City crowned Premier League champions with defeat of Brighton as Liverpool finish runners-up

Featured Image

The Reds did a Back-To-Back comeback win as Manchester City are 2018/19 Premier League champions, beating Liverpool to the prize in one of the most thrilling title races in years.

The battle for silverware went all the way down to the final day, with City entering their match against Brighton one point clear of Liverpool in second.

They hosted Wolves in their season finale, and did what they had to do, beating Nuno’s side 2-0 at Anfield.

However, City’s own victory kept them ahead of Liverpool, ensuing Pep Guardiola’s side claimed a second successive Premier League title.

Liverpool were given hope of a potential upset at the Amex when Glenn Murray headed Brighton in front, but City were professional enough to overturn the deficit and seal a 4-1 comeback win.

Sergio Aguero levelled proceedings shortly after Murray’s opener, before Aymeric Laporte put the visitors in the lead before half-time.

The three points were wrapped up just after the hour mark, with Riyad Mahrez firing a thunderous shot past Mat Ryan to guarantee City the win – and the title.

Ilkay Gundogan’s stunning free-kick which made it four was the cherry on top for Guardiola and his players.

It was a remarkable title race which lasted until the final day, yet was oddly bereft of twists and turns as City and Liverpool relentlessly racked up win after win after win.

As it turned out Liverpool won their last nine but City’s 14-match winning streak, a record end to a top-flight season, ensured the Reds’ wait for the title will tick into a 30th year.

Over nine months and 38 games each, the two juggernauts clocked up 195 points between them as they disappeared over the horizon.

Liverpool’s final total of 97 would have seen them take the title at a canter in every other Premier League season, barring the last. Yet they still could not catch this incredible City side.

Burna Boy Begs EFCC To Release Zlatan Ibile For His Show

Featured Image

Rappers, Naira Marley and Zlatan Ibile are still in EFCC custody, and singer, Burna Boy has pleaded to the commission to release them for his show, which held last night.

Taking to his page, Burna who’s a big fan of Zlatan wrote; “You see am now? No Zanku for my show Today. My Day is ruined. @officialefcc Na beg I dey beg una. PLEASE FREE da guys.”

He continued, “Ba wo la fe GBE BODY WA nisin??”

Marley, Zlatan alongside three others were arrested on Friday in connection with an alleged case of internet fraud and money laundering.

Ayo Shonaiya wrote about their arrest, saying that the Commission had made the singers Legends!

‘When I saw the picture posted today by EFCC about the “arrest” of Naira Marley, Zlatan Ibile and other persons, I had mixed emotions. On one hand, I liked it because this is “that picture”. Just like world famous celebrities who have at some point in their lives (often during their youth) run afoul of the Law, and their mugshots become famous, even to the point of people printing it on T-shirts’.

Lil’ Wayne, James Brown, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Frank Sinatra, the Kray Twins, Hugh Grant, and of course notorious drug lord & the ultimate baddest outlaw, Pablo Escobar! Remember Pablo Escobar used drug money to “help” the Colombian economy? And loads of Colombians prayed for him. You know in the Nigerian music industry we have Bad, Baddo, Baddest, & Young Pablo. I myself even appeared in a short film recently called “Narcos Lagos”!

It’s all creativity and Art. Believe it or not, they have just made Naira Marley & Zlatan future legends!!! And I promise you I love all these guys. The ones that know me personally know this. Bad ass creative minds!

But, on the other hand, the infamous mugshots of the other “legends” were for what I call “personal” crimes. Even though every crime is bad, they were not crimes that labelled their countrymen & women with a negative identity, & also didn’t adversely affect the reputations of millions of their fellow citizens (maybe Colombia with the drugs, but you get my point).

The crime in question in the EFCC pic is FRAUD! Let’s stop saying “Yahoo Yahoo” because it has obviously become cool to a lot of youths now. We desperately need to re-strategise the war against crime in our country, from the “top” to the bottom.

So, while the other mugshots are for personal crimes that only themselves got punished for, our own future legends pic is about glamourising a crime that 180 MILLION Nigerians pay for everyday, in all ramifications & all over the world, as we are ALL seen as fraudsters and thieves.

This is the painful difference between the other infamous pictures & our own. And this is why, on the real, I am also sad about this picture.

Here’s a video of the best man of a groom tightly embracing the latter’s bride.

The moment the ‘best man’ did, the groom dragged him off, separating him from his newly-wed wife.. and of course not forgetting to hit him severally.

The bride seems to have enjoyed the ‘intimate’ hug.

Some claim the man is probably the bride’s ex boyfriend and lover.

BREAKING: EFCC Seals Off Saraki’s Houses In Lagos

Featured Image

Reports have it that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, have sealed off multiple residential houses located in highbrow Ikoyi, Lagos, allegedly owned by Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki

Saraki, In his reaction insisted that the action of the EFCC was a witch-hunt. According to him, the property in question have been investigated by the commission several times in the past.

A statement by the Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) to the Senate President, Mr Yusuph Olaniyonu said: “Our attention has been drawn to the fact that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has marked certain property belonging to Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, obviously under the claim that they are subject of investigation.

“The action of the EFCC only reinforced our earlier stated position that their current investigation is mischievous, contrary to the tenets of the rule of law and only aimed at settling scores. This position is founded on the fact that these same buildings were the subject of earlier investigations by the EFCC as well as the case initiated by the Federal Government at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

“Also, the case went all the way to the highest court in our country, the Supreme Court of Nigeria. In that case, Saraki was discharged and acquitted because the courts believe the government has no case.”

Saraki defected to the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party few weeks to the general elections.

Before his defection, his relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari had gone sour.

Saraki was charged before the Code of Conduct Tribunal for alleged infraction of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers.

The tribunal did not find him guilty of any offence.

Last week, EFCC confirmed reports that it had opened a fresh investigation into Saraki’s stewardship as Senate President as well as a probe of his earnings as governor from 2003 – 2011.

Replying to Saraki’s allegations that the ongoing probe was a witch hunt, the acting EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade, in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday said the politician was not above the law, noting that the commission was obligated by law to enthrone probity and accountability in the governance space, a duty it claimed to have pursued without ill-will or malice against anyone.

The EFCC asked Saraki not to worry over the investigation into his earnings as Kwara State Governor and his stewardship in the Senate, “so long as he has no skeletons in his cupboard.”

The commission also said it possessed indicting petitions and other evidence against the Senate President, noting that putting him through a legitimate forensic inquiry was the legitimate route to establish his integrity as a public servant.

The EFCC refuted Saraki’s claims that the probe had to do with his appointment as the International Human Rights Commission ambassador.

It stated, “It is in the interest of the public, and for Saraki’s personal good, that he is not only above board, but be seen at all times to be so.

“Indeed, all the instances in which the EFCC has had cause to sleuth into his financial activities either as a former governor or President of the Senate were driven by over-arching public interest and due process of the law.

“Against the background of the possession of indicting petitions and other evidence available to the EFCC, even Saraki will agree with the commission that putting him through a legitimate forensic inquiry is the legitimate route to establish his integrity as a public servant.”

As part of the fresh probe of Saraki, the commission had written to the Kwara State Government to furnish it what the Senate President earned while he was governor of Kwara State.

Saraki was the state governor from 2003 to 2011, before his election into the National Assembly.

The anti-graft agency stated that it was investigating Saraki for an alleged case of conspiracy, abuse of office, misappropriation of public funds, theft, and money laundering.

In a letter to the Kwara State government, the EFCC demanded to be furnished with a breakdown of Saraki’s income, as well as his entitlements as governor of the state.

The letter signed by the EFCC Zonal Head, Isyaku Sharu, read: “In view of the above, you are kindly requested to furnish us with the full details of all his entitlements to include but not limited to emoluments, allowances, estacodes, other fringe benefits and severance package while he held sway as the Executive Governor of Kwara State between 2003 and 2011.

“This request is made pursuant to Section 38 (1) & (2) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2004 and Section 21 of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act.”

15 year old boy Scores highest As JAMB releases results

Featured Image

It was confirmed that A 15-year-old boy, Ekele Franklin from Imo, has emerged the overall best candidate in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination (UTME), conducted between April 11 and April 15.

Franklin, who made University of Lagos his first choice, scored 347 and may not be admitted because of his age.

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board(JAMB), disclosed this at a news conference to announce the release of the results in Abuja on Saturday.

Emmanuel Chidebube, a 16-year-old boy from Abia came second with a score of 346, while Isaac Olamide, a 17-year-old from Osun came third with 345.

In all 2,906 candidates scored over 300 as against 4,683 in 2018.

According to Oloyede, 57,579 candidates scored between 250 and 299 as against 64,120 in the 2018 results.

Oloyede said 366,757 candidates also scored between 200 and 249, which is a significant improvement from the 2018 results.

“361,718 candidates scored between 180 and 199 as against 325,152 in 2018, while 494,484 scored between 160 and 179 as against 455,898 last year.

“410,844 candidates scored between 140 and 159 as against 346,825 recorded in 2018 while also 99,463 scored between 100 and 139 as against 64,712 in 2018.”

The registrar said that about 1,792,719 candidates sat for the exams, while 34,120 candidates had their results withheld for examination malpractice.

Oloyede stated that 15,145 results were withheld for further clarification.

The registrar, therefore, advised candidates to use the phone number used for registration and text it to 55019 to get their results instantly.

Oloyede identified a lot of infractions from candidates and Computer Based Centres (CBT) owners ranging from multiple registration, manipulation of biometrics and deliberate destruction of power sources during the examination.

“No doubt, examination malpractice is a cankerworm that has eaten deeply not only into Nigeria but also the rest of the world, especially the developed countries such as the USA and U.K.

“In Nigeria too, examination malpractice is exacerbated by the insatiable greed and desperate antics of parents, who are hell-bent on inducting their innocent and not-so-innocent children into the world of sharp practices and corruption.

“Double registrations led to the cancellation of some results last year, but we realised that this year not only double registrations but also multiple registrations were recorded.

“Someone for instance registered as many as 23 times for just a single examination.

“On impersonation, in the 2019 UTME, we were able to identify a large number of impersonators, who have been writing UTME for candidates.

“Most of the tutorial masters specialise in recruiting such professional writers for the candidates.

“They do so by using the names directly or variants of the names or by multiple registrations.

“An example is Anambra state where two centres registered a large number of impersonating candidates. In such cases, the results of the candidates have been cancelled and the CBT centres delisted.

“We have also tracked the registration centres and the computers used. In cases where we were able to ascertain the culpability of the centres, we delisted them,” he said.

According to the registrar, the fraudsters thought they could beat the system through ‘contributed fingers’ where two or more persons would use their fingers to register for candidates.

“Two examples of this case are in the Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare, where someone’s finger(s) was discovered in 42 person’s registration and Bauchi State University, Gadau, where one person’s is traced to the registration of 64 candidates.

“Another example was in Borno State where in Nassara Computer Academy, Maiduguri, 233 candidates had one particular finger included in each of their biometric registration.

“We have made representative arrests and we must thank the Inspector-General of Police and the Commandant-General of the NSCDC for their wonderful cooperation.

“The I-G actually set up a Special Task Force of the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB), which assisted tremendously in tracking the offenders”.

Oloyede, however, noted that 116 centres had been delisted for various infractions, saying that 18 of the 116 centres was previously sanctions by the governing board of JAMB.

He, therefore, assured universities of the board’s commitment in sending biometrics and photo details of candidates to the universities for post UTME.

Kodak Black Reportedly Arrested On Firearms Charges At Rolling Loud Miami

Featured Image

Reports and news have it about Kodak Black being arrested in Miami where he was scheduled to perform at this year’s Rolling Loud Festival.

It is reporter Brian Entin of Miami’s WSVN 7 News who alleges that several sources have confirmed that the South Florida rapper was arrested on both federal and state firearms charges.

Entin adds that the arrest involved the ATF, Miami-Dade Police’s Gang Unit as well as United States Marshals.

Kodak, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, is officially being detained and booked at the Federal Detention Center in Miami.

The news is, unfortunately, the latest hiccup to come of the three-day Rolling Loud festival in Miami. Friday night (May 10th) reports of an active shooter on festival grounds were falsely spread after festivalgoers were injured in a stampede that ensued when a fight broke out.

The show is set to conclude with a headlining set from Kid Cudi on Sunday night (May 12th).
