Jay-Z Breaks Silence On Kanye West Feud, “What He Really Did To Hurt Me”

US rapper Jay-Z has finally broken the silence on his alleged feud with Kanye West, speaking openly about being hurt by Kanye’s onstage rant late last year.

Kanye West Quits Jay Z’s Tidal Over Money Dispute

The rapper made this known on Thursday during an interview with Elliott Wilson and Brian “B.Dot” Miller on Rap Radar podcast, which streams on his music streaming service, Tidal.

Jay-Z talked about the lyrics of his Kill Jay-Z track on the 4.44 album, that has been assumed to be a diss for Kanye.

His words: “It’s not even about Kanye, it really isn’t. His name is there, just because it’s just the truth of what happened. But the whole point is ‘You got hurt because this person was talking about you on a stage.”

“You got hurt, because this guy was talking about you on a stage. But what really hurt me, you can’t bring my kid or my wife into it. Like, Kanye is my little brother. He’s talked about me a hundred times. He even made a song called ‘Big Brother.’ We’ve gotten past bigger issues, but you brought my family into it, now it’s a problem.”

On November 19, Kanye had called out Jay-Z and Beyonce on stage in one of the concerts at his cancelled Saint Pablo tour.

Jay-Z Opens Up On Beyoncé Infidelity Rumours On New Album 4:44, Takes Aim At Kanye West

He had accused Beyonce of refusing to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards unless her video for “Formation” won.

He had said, “Beyoncé, I was hurt! ‘Cause I heard that you said you wouldn’t perform unless you won Video of the Year over me, and over ‘Hotline Bling‘,”.

Also slamming Jay-Z, West further told the told the crowd: “Jay Z, call me, bro. You still ain’t call me. Jay Z, I know you got killers. Please don’t send ’em at my head. Just call me. Talk to me like a man.”

Hov continued on the podcast:

“You know it’s a problem because me and him would have been talked about it, been resolved our issues.”

“He knows he crossed the line. He knows. And I know he knows. ‘Cause we’ve never let this much space go between one of our disagreements and we’ve had many. That’s part of who we are.”

The podcast marks the first time the 47-year-old mogul has commented on his former collaborator’s tirade.

Pochettino: Tottenham Were Way Better Than Chelsea

Featured Image

Mauricio Pochettino has hit out at Chelsea, for their performance and insists his side were the better side despite losing.

Chelsea could only manage two goals from their two shots on target, as Alonso opened the scoring with a beautiful freekick, before cancelling out Batshuayi’s own goal.

Conte utilised a 3-5-1-1 formation, as he is without Hazard due to injury and Cahill and Fabregas due to suspension. And Pochettino insists his men were better, despite failing to breakdown Chelsea.

“We were much better than Chelsea,” Pochettino told a post-match news conference.

“It was very clear their idea: to try and contain us and play on the counter, with Morata and Willian in front.”

“I am very happy. I think we were a little bit unlucky. If you have sometimes this percentage of luck, it can be difficult to win.”

“I am only explaining the game today. I’m not saying they are a defensive team. They played differently only today, not the normal way,” he said.

“It’s true they tried to defend deeper and go on the counter-attack with Morata and Willian. But I am so pleased with our performance.”

Ramos Points Out Hostility Against Madrid After Red Card

Featured Image

Real Madrid captain , Sergio Ramos claims there is an animosity towards Real Madrid, after he was sent off against Deportivo La Coruna.

The Spain international defender could only play 92 minutes, after he was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 3-0 win.

Madrid started the season well, with Gareth Bale, Casemiro and Toni Kroos scoring the goals at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“When you win many titles, the rivals are full of antipathy towards you,” Ramos said after equalling the record for most red cards in La Liga history with his 18th dismissal.

“I do not agree with the card but I respect the opinion of the referee,” Ramos told reporters.

“Sometimes officials should look at English football and let us play more.

“I like their system because in Europe, referees are more lenient.”

Muller Tears ACL After Celebrating Goal

Featured Image

Hamburg have confirmed that Nicolai Muller sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury, after celebrating his goal against Augsburg.

The 29-year-old scored scored as early as the eighth minute in the curtain raiser for both teams.

Muller’s strike proved to be the only goal of the match and further scans have ruled him out for 7 months.

“The diagnosis comes as a huge shock to us, it’s a big blow at the start of the season and obviously is really tough on Nicolai,” Hamburg’s sporting director Jens Todt was quoted as saying by the Bundesliga website.

“We wish him all the best for his recovery and, of course, will support him as best we can.”

Mourinho: Rashford Should Embrace Boo Boys

Featured Image

Jose Mourinho has urged Marcus Rashford to learn to embrace being whistled at by the opponent’s fans.

The 19-year-old forward was constantly booed by the Swansea faithfuls, as Manchester United claimed a 4-0 win.

Rashford , who is yet to score for United this season was later replaced by Anthony Martial.

Mourinho, however, has told the England international to embrace the boo boys.

“I think he has to learn how to enjoy it [the attention],” Mourinho said. “If he was a bad player, nobody would try to provoke him. They see the speed, the danger, and probably they think they can affect him.

“I think if he was on the bench and if he comes on for the last 15 or 20 minutes when the space is there, I think he would do the same things as the other guys did.

“I think he has to adapt to it. He is an English kid, a young kid who plays for their national team. Oh, I’m sorry, they are Welsh!”

Nigeria Approves Special Courts For Hate Speech, Terrorism And Kidnapping

Featured Image

The Judicial and executive arms of the federal and state governments have agreed to designate special courts for the purposes of prosecuting purveyors of hate speeches as well as suspected terrorists and kidnappers.

This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice-President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande,

According to Mr Akande, the decision was reached at a one-day National Security Retreat organised by the National Economic Council on Thursday.

The council – chaired by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo – had the 36 states governors, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria as members.

Akande said the retreat discussed concerns about the delay in the nation’s criminal justice system and NEC members concluded that prompt action by law enforcement agencies was imperative.

In arriving at special courts for purveyors of hate speeches as well as suspected terrorists and kidnappers, he said it was resolved that the Federal Government would help states to develop a template for such courts.

He said, “NEC members urged prompt action in the arrest and prosecution of perpetrators of terrorist acts, kidnapping and purveyors of hate speeches.

“To facilitate this, the designation of special courts was also advocated and the consensus was that judicial and executive arms of the Federal and state governments will be working together to establish such courts.

“The Federal Government will also be helping states develop a template on how such special courts would be established and managed.”

Koeman: Everton Can Still Find Holes In City’s Defence

Featured Image

Everton boss Ronald Koeman says his squad can still exploit City’s defence, despite the new additions at the club.

Koeman concedes that the Manchester City squad of this season is better than the previous season, that saw City fail to get a win against Everton both home and away.

However, the Dutch manager says the high defensive line used by his former Barcelona teammate leaves room for exploitation.

“The way he likes to play is the most difficult way,” Koeman told reporters. “It’s really a pleasure to see his teams playing football.

“The Premier League is strong physically on set-plays and they try to play with a high defence and a lot of offensive players in the team.

“If you play with a high defence there is always space behind, we know that, we remember that.

“When we played City at home we punished them for that but I think with the business they did in the summer City are stronger than last year.”

Mourinho: Versatility Will Help United In Title Push

Featured Image

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho is confident his player’s versatility will play a key role in their title challenge.

United started the season in exquisite fashion, winning their first two matches against West Ham and Swansea 4-0 respectively.

Mourinho is not letting the seemingly easy victories get to his head, but trusts the versatility of his squad will prove useful.

“We had a good pre-season. We work well and we are ready to play in different systems,” he said after Saturday’s win in Wales.

“When we saw them with five at the back, we thought: ‘Let’s try to explore the advantage of playing with three up front’.

“But we are ready at any moment if we were in difficult we were ready at any moment to change and also play with three at the back.

“So we are confident with the work we did.”

Morata: I Want To Become A Key Player For Chelsea

Featured Image

Alvaro Morata has made it known he is in Chelsea to realise his full potential and become a key player for the team.

Morata was signed in the summer for £70 million from Madrid and has also played for Juventus.

The Spain international did not make enough impact at both teams to be considered a key player.

“I want to make an explosion at Chelsea,” he told Sky Sports. “I played well at Real Madrid and at Juventus, but I think I did not make the explosion that everyone expected of me. I need to be an important player for the team, for the Spanish national team.

“And I think I am at the better age and all of the best moments of my career are coming. I played good matches in the Champions League, but one a month. I need to play every weekend, score goals and play at the top level every weekend. And I work for this situation.”

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was a key reason in the Spaniard electing to move to England.

“He was a big part of my decision when I signed with Juventus,” he said. “Antonio was the Juventus coach, but for many reasons he then left Juve.

“I feel that Antonio is a coach who has always trusted in me. That is everything for me. I spoke a lot of times with Antonio and for me he is the coach who was most interested in me.”

“He had few chances last year with four months of injury, now he’s well, he’s enjoyed very good preparation and I hope it’s an important year for him and for us.”

Watzke Hits Out At Barcelona , For Role In Dembele Saga

Featured Image

Borussia Dortmund CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke has lashed out at Barcelona for exerting undue influence on winger, Ousmane Dembele.

The France youngster has been involved in a transfer saga with Dortmund and was suspended for missing training without consent.

Speaking to Sky, Watzke spoke witheringly of “glorious” Barcelona, accusing the Catalan club of playing a central role in the stand-off.

“It is not that Ous is making fun of us, he simply declines to do his job. That is a new quality,” Watzke said.

“And we should talk about the role of glorious FC Barcelona in this matter.

“On Wednesday [last week] we met with Barcelona’s officials. Our positions were very far away from each other. Then, on Thursday, he did not show up at the training.

“The timing of these events is very curious. You don’t believe a 20-year-old will refuse to go to training without his possible new club liking that?”

“They must pay the fee we want for this player, who has four years left on his contract, after they received €222million for Neymar.

“If they match our requirements soon then there will be a transfer. Otherwise, there won’t be.

“Dembele would have to apologise to the team and the club. Then it is possible, of course [that Dembele has a future in Dortmund].”

Governor Umahi Bans Movement Of Cows In Ebonyi

Featured Image

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State has condemned “in entirety” the movement of cattle by herdsmen on major roads in the state, adding that the government was working on legislation to criminalise the act.

Speaking on Saturday at a security meeting to review the activities of the Ebonyi State Committee on Fulani Herdsmen in Abakaliki, Umahi said the law when enacted will make it a criminal offence for anybody to move herds of cattle along major roads in any part of the state.

The governor was represented by Dr Eric Kelechi-Igwe, the Deputy Governor.

His words: “We will no longer tolerate the movement of cattle along our major roads, especially those ones that we have asphalted.

“We want to protect the lives of other road users including pedestrians and vehicular users.

“We advice that our Fulani herdsmen who rear their cattle in the state should use the cattle bush path-ways to move their flock to any location they want without bringing them to our major roads.

“We will arrest and prosecute anybody that is found violating the policy.’’

He said that the state government would do everything within its powers to ensure that herdsmen and their host communities coexist peacefully and assured residents adequate protection of lives and property.

“The reason for the existence of modern government is to provide and guarantee security of lives and property of every citizen, and also to provide and maintain critical infrastructure.

“There must be love, peaceful and harmonious existence among members of the various culture, tribes and religions existing in the state.

“The whole essence of our gathering is to take stock and harp on those issues that will strengthen the peace existing between us as well as unite us,’’ he added.

NAN quoted him as directing local government chairmen to inaugurate the local government area committees on herdsmen.

He said that the committees would assist the state government in ensuring that there were no hitches from the activities of herdsmen and farmers.

“The local government area chairmen will go back to their domains and inaugurate local government committees on herdsmen, who will meet regularly to review activities of the herdsmen and farmers and report to the state committee.

“The initiative is to create robust synergy between the state and local governments to enable free information flow and urgent intervention in any event of infractions between farmers and herdsmen,’’ the governor said.

We Are Recruiting 5,000 Fighters To Evict Hausa, Yoruba From Niger Delta Region

Featured Image

John Duku, the leader of the Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators, has said that the coalition will recruit over 3,000 to 5,000 fighters that will help evict Yoruba and Hausa citizens from the oil-rich region.

He made this known when speaking exclusively with The Punch Newspaper.

Read excerpt below:

Why did the Coalition of the Niger Delta Agitators choose October 1 as the deadline for Yoruba and Hausa to leave the Niger Delta region? Does it have anything to do with independence day?

Yes! We are aware that it is the day that Nigeria marks its independence, but that is also the day the northern youths (chose when they) issued their notice to quit to the Igbo. Let it be that the date that we got independence is the day we (will) go our different ways. We are doing this because of what they did to others. We feel that the notice to quit given to the Igbo was also given to us in Niger Delta. There is no way they (northerners) will be able to differentiate an Igbo man from the Ikwerre man from Rivers; the Itsekiri man and the Urhobo man. So, if they have given the Igbo a notice to quit, they have also given to us.

Why is your group asking two major tribes in Nigeria to leave the South-South?

The northerners are holding the Nigerian government and everybody to ransom. They have ruled this country for many years and almost all the oil blocks belong to them. To make things worse, the present government came in, sidelined other people and gave the major positions in the country to the northerners. The President of this country is from the North; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation is from the North; the Inspector General of Police is from the North; the Chief of Army Staff is from the North; the Chief of Staff to the President is from the North; the Minister of Petroleum is from the North; the Comptroller General of Customs is from the North, the Director General of the Department of State Services is also from the North. All the major positions are being occupied by the northerners.

So, if you believe in one Nigeria, why can’t we get some of these positions? The Senate President is from the North; the Speaker of the House of Representatives is from the North. All members of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation board are from the North. With this, how do you want the southerners who have oil to feel? They (northerners) don’t have oil.

You are talking about the northerners. Why did you also give the Yoruba an ultimatum to leave the Niger Delta region?

The Yoruba who come from the same South as us are the major managers of the oil companies. The cabals from the Yoruba make things worse for the Niger Delta people. If you look at Mobil, Chevron, Total — almost all the major oil companies — they are being controlled by the Yoruba. But they refuse to partner with us; they refuse to work with us and they are treating us as slaves. They help their people more than our own people. They are the ones that stopped the oil firms from relocating their headquarters to the Niger Delta. They hold the Nigerian economy to ransom. The Yoruba people have done everything possible since the Olusegun Obasanjo administration to stop other ports (other than the Lagos seaports) from functioning in Nigeria. We have seaports in Delta, Rivers and Calabar (Cross River). They are not working because of Yoruba interest. The Yoruba want everything to be in Lagos, Ogun states and the rest.

When the northerners asked some people to go, we felt that one day, they would also ask us to go. We cannot wait for them to ask us to go; we are asking them to leave. Again, you know that our first statement was directed to the northerners alone, but when we saw that the Yoruba said they wanted Oduduwa Republic, we had no choice than to support them.

If the ultimatum you gave to the Yoruba and Hausa expires and they are still in the region, what will your group do?

We are recruiting over 3,000 to 5,000 people that will fight this cause. We have already gone around all the Niger Delta states and our surveillance and intelligence teams are working very hard. They have all the information about their (Yoruba) businesses. We have all the information about their investments and we will start with that.

Ghanaians Allegedly Kill Five Nigerians In Fresh Xenophobic Attack

Featured Image

An irate mob in Ghana has allegedly killed five Nigerians in a fresh xenophobic attack on citizens of Africa’s most powerful nation.

It is understood that the mob action was in reprisal to an incident where a Nigerian man was said to have stabbed a Ghanaian man to death, claiming the purported victim was a thief.

The Punch reports that the 48-year-old Thompson Peter was reported to have said he committed the act in self defence.

Although the Police in Sowutoum area of Ghana have arrested Peter, the incident has reportedly led to xenophobic attacks against Nigerians living in Ghana, with five persons killed in reprisal so far.

It was gathered that policemen who visited the alleged crime scene were also attacked and chased away by the protesting Ghanaians.

As posted on Facebook by one Ifeanyi Chukwuemeka who claimed to have studied at Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, the Nigerian Ghana resident, Peter, allegedly stabbed Ghanaian 27-year-old Misbau Amadu in the head with a knife after a confrontation at his residence at about 10:00pm on Thursday, the online medium said.

Chukwuemeka continued: “The victim was rushed to the Mary Lucy Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by the doctors.

“Inspector Kwabena Danso, Deputy Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), said a week ago, Thompson Peter lodged a complaint at the Sowutoum Police Station that Misbau Amadu had broken into his apartment and stolen some items.

“After taking the statement of Thompson, the PRO said the police proceeded to the residence of Misbau Amadu with the intent of inviting him to the station to help investigate the claim but he was not available.

“Thompson said at about 9:00 pm last Thursday, Misbau came to his (Thomson’s) house, armed with a knife to attack him for reporting the case to the police. In the course of the fight, Thompson said he overpowered Misbau and stabbed him in self-defence.

“The matter is still under investigations,” Inspector Kwabena Danso posited. Meanwhile, crisis has allegedly broken out in the area, with many Nigerians being attacked.”

I’ve Been To London To See the King, By Femi Adesina

I’ve Been To London To See the King, By Femi Adesina

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

Not a few tongues had wagged over the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari was outside the country on medical vacation for weeks on end, and no member of his media team was with him. Many times, we had been confronted by journalists on why we were sitting pretty in Nigeria, while our principal was confronted by severe health challenges in London.

How did I feel about the situation? I had always told the media, and others who cared to listen, that whoever is on a presidential entourage at any time is the prerogative of the president. In the first 20 months of this administration, the president had made scores of trips, both locally and internationally. There was none, and I repeat, none, in which the media team was excluded. We were always there to keep the world abreast with what the president was doing.

When President Buhari first needed to travel for holiday and medical attention in January this year, it was deemed a private trip, in which the media was not needed. On such journey, you naturally would need security details, your personal physician, protocol and domestic aides, and those were the ones who went. Media aide? It depended on the principal. What was essential was that the channels of communication be kept open.

When the fuss came that the media handlers of the president were transmitting at best third hand information to the public, it did not bother me as much as it did some people, particularly, journalists. The discretion to have anyone with him at a given time is that of the president, and there was nothing anybody could do about it. I was in direct contact with those who were around him, and that was the best in the circumstances.
When the rumour mill went into overdrive sometime in January that the president had passed on, the first person I called was his personal physician. He laughed, saying nothing of such happened. I was thus confident enough to debunk the malicious information.

Before he returned on March 10, in what turned out to be the first leg of his medical treatment, President Buhari had spoken with me personally on the phone, the details of which I made available to the public. That was sufficient for me.

The president left again on May 7. I was with him at home till he left for the airport. Information dissemination followed the same pattern as on the first trip. The aides on hand told me whatever was necessary, and I communicated the same, never for once making it appear that the information was firsthand. It was the best and the honest thing to do. You work for a straightforward man, it would be a disservice to him for you to begin to spin and bend information. Never!

Not once did I agitate to visit London to see the president. I was trusting enough to receive whatever information was passed to me, knowing the kind of man we serve. Blessed are those who have not seen, and yet believe.

A lot of people were using paracetamol for what they considered my headache. They continued to fret that I was not in London, but it didn’t bother me a bit. Ask my wife and children, they would tell you that I am never in unnecessary hurry. I don’t push things, but the lines always fall for me in pleasant places. I have learnt to take all things in my strides, and let the divine powers work out the rest. Some people will erroneously call it a laid back approach, but those who are discerning would see that I had always excelled in whatever I did, physical, professional, spiritual, domestic etc. No need to sing my own praises. Not unto us, but unto Him, be all the glory and praises.

And then, on Wednesday last week, ‘come came to become’ (apologies K.O Mbadiwe). I received a communication to proceed to London to see the president, along with other members of the presidential media team. To lead the delegation was Alhaji Lai Mohammed, minister of Information and Culture, while others included myself, Mallam Garba Shehu, Lauretta Onochie, Bayo Omoboriowo, and the Nigerian Television Authority team of Adamu Sambo and Emmanuel Anrihi. Senior Special Assistant on International and Diaspora Matters, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who was in London on another official matter, eventually joined us to see the president on Saturday.

Leaving the country through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Friday morning, one was as conspicuous as a tiger in a teashop. All who knew me, and saw that I was headed for London, naturally said: “Please give our greetings to Baba o.” They just took it for granted that I was going to London to see the King, and not the Queen this time, as made popular by the pussycat in the nursery rhyme.

The trip aboard the British Airways Boeing 777-200/300 was pleasant and pleasurable. It was like a whole city in the sky. The Nigerians who saw me and my colleague, Mallam Garba Shehu, onboard, also jumped to the same right conclusion as those at the airport: “Please greet Baba for us o.”
On Saturday afternoon, we were ferried from our hotels at the appointed time. At Zero Hour, we were at the Abuja House, Nigerian High Commission, London.

As we strode into the living room, I saw with infinite pleasure, the great object of my mission. Standing tall and ramrod straight was President Muhammadu Buhari, with that ubiquitous smile in place. He was looking a lot better than he had ever looked in the past eight months. My heart leapt for joy, and sang praises to God. Was this not the man they said was on life support machine? Didn’t they say he could neither walk nor talk? But he was welcoming Alhaji Lai Muhammed, and calling him by name. I was next. I shook the hands of the man I had admired since his days as a military head of state, a man I am not ashamed to call my leader and president today, and any day.

Seated, the president had words for each member of the team, which showed that he had been following events back home very keenly. He commended the minister of Information and Culture, saying, “Lai, you are all over the place. I see you virtually everyday. You have been working very hard.” Pointing to Abike Dabiri-Erewa, he said, “She is here in her constituency. But me, I am here reluctantly.” We all laughed, and Dabiri-Erewa jocularly issued what you could call a quit notice, saying she didn’t want the president in her constituency again.

How are you, Mr. President?

“I am okay now. I feel I could go home, but doctors are in charge here, and I’ve learnt to obey my doctors. I’ve learnt to obey orders, rather than be the one giving the orders.”

If you have met the president personally, he is usually full of wisecracks, and this day was not different. He told us he had enough time to watch television, and commended the NTA particularly, and Nigerian media generally, for bringing him up to speed with what was happening back home.

He said he had been watching the protests by people who wanted him to return home post-haste, or resign. He mentioned one of the leaders of the protest by name, and laughed. I did not discern any malice in the laughter.

President Buhari told us he seldom got sick, something he had told Nigerians on March 10, at his first return. When we told him millions of people were praying for him at home, in Africa, and even beyond, I saw the glow in his eyes, and he said :”May God reward them,” after noting that what Nigeria did in The Gambia in January, which forced a sit-tight Yahya Jammeh to quit office, “fetched us a lot of goodwill and latitude.”

We talked about many issues, some of which are not due for public consumption yet. The president was obviously enjoying our company. Then the state chief of protocol, Ambassador Lawal Kazaure, popped up (as he always does) and indicated that the allotted time was over.

“Oh dear,” the president exclaimed, reluctant to see us go.

It was time for photographs, and we walked into the garden. The president was spry, as he joined us. Bayo Omoboriowo clicked away, and those were the pictures you have seen. The president even almost sprinted, while going back inside. Omoboriowo captured that rare moment.

And to the dining room we proceeded. We sat at that famous table, laden with different kinds of fruits; banana, apple, pear, water melon, and many others. It was a setting which a man blinded by bile, and suffused with hatred, had described as a previous fast breaking session at Aso Villa during a Ramadan season. Father, forgive him, for he knows not what he says.

We ate, heartily. Our appetites had been stimulated by the state in which we met our principal. Wife of the president, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, was at hand to attend to us, urging us to eat as much as we wanted. Halima, daughter of the president, as well as Yusuf, his son, were also there.

It was a pleasure meeting all the presidential aides once again, and we greeted one another warmly: Yau and Lawal (trusted security details), Sunday (the personal cook of many decades), the ADC, SCOP, CSO, CPSO, the personal physician, Tunde Sabiu, Sarki Abba, and many others. It was a grand re-union.

Lunch over, the president bade each person goodbye, with a handshake. We said to him, “See you soon, sir.” But when Dabiri-Erewa uttered the same, the president laughed, and declared: “No, we will leave you here, as this is your constituency.”

The health status of our president, as earlier attested to by Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, during his visit, was a testimony to the healing powers of God. This was a man gravely ill, but restored miraculously. It can only be God. In spite of what haters, wailers, and filthy dreamers imagine, and which they spew out, God remains merciful and immutable. He has the final say. If I were a hater, I would repent now, in sackcloth and ashes.

Yes, I’ve been to London to see the King. The Lion King. But unlike the pussycat in the nursery rhyme, I didn’t frighten any mouse under the chair.

Mourinho: Conte Must Not Use Matic Sale As An Excuse For Failure

Featured Image

Jose Mourinho has rubbished talks that Chelsea’s early season blues is due to absence of Matic.

Matic left Chelsea for United in the summer for £40 million and impressed in his first United game.

Mourinho does not feel his sale is an excuse, Conte can use to explain Chelsea’s failure.

“When people say, for example, Chelsea lost an important midfield player, if you lose one but you buy Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater, for example, what’s the problem?” he said.

“‘The problem is when you sell and you don’t buy. When you sell and you keep buying, what’s the problem? You are probably even stronger, so I think every top team in the Premier League is potentially strong enough with the financial situation to be fighting for everything.”

Depay: Experience At United Made Me Better

Featured Image

Manchester United flop, Memphis Depay says his struggles at United made him a better player for Lyon.

Depay joined Manchester United from PSV in 2015 for €30 million and was touted as the next star for the club.

However, he failed to impress under Van Gaal and Mourinho and was eventually sold to Lyon for €16 million.

“In the first season, I didn’t contribute enough, but I really believe you need a year to succeed in the Premier League, it’s the fastest league in the world,” Depay said, according to ESPN. “The second, I had my self-belief back, but I didn’t play.”

“It’s then that you look at yourself in the mirror and you ask yourself a lot of questions: ‘Am I not good enough?’ It was really tough. To stay positive, you have to be very strong mentally. That experience made me grow up and is useful to me today.”

In response to the development, Mr. Audu said that the state governor, Yahaya Bello, had approved the immediate constitution and deployment of a team of medical experts to deal with the situation.

According to him, the medical experts include epidemiologists from the state ministry of health and medics from the state-owned health facilities.

“Earlier, samples taken from some of the victims were sent to Federal Teaching Hospital Irua, Edo State, for definitive investigation, which turned out to be negative for Lassa fever.

“On arrival at the communities, the team interacted with the locals and samples were taken from their water sources and food supply.

Wenger: Kolasinac Is Very Strong

Featured Image

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger says defender Sead Kolasinac may be the strongest player he has ever managed.

Kolasinac joined Arsenal from Schalke on a free transfer in the summer and has impressed with his strength.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina defender has impressed the Arsenal fans with his strength and Wenger has noticed it too.

“He is naturally strong,” Wenger told reporters. “He uses quite well the strength of his body without violence and when he intervenes it doesn’t look to be a foul, he just uses his body strength.

“It is an important quality to help adapt to the Premier League.”

“He has the capacity to repeat runs, and we noticed when we watched him play that he is quite dangerous in the final third,” Wenger said.

“He already has some assists since he came here, so overall maybe he is not a glamorous dribbler but the quality of his runs is very efficient.”

ASUU Strike Will Increase Prostitution Among Female Students | Sex Workers Tell FG

Featured Image

The ongoing strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which has led to the closure of public universities, will increase prostitution among female students, the Nigerian Sex Workers Association has said.

The national coordinator of the association, Amaka Enemo, made this known during an interview with The Punch on Friday, August 18, 2017.

The cordinator said, even without the strike, many female students had been engaging in ‘runs’, a euphemism for offering sex for cash or other valuables.

Enemo then added that if the federal government and ASUU do not settle their differences and put an end to the strike, idle students would embrace sex work.

Her words: “Even without the strike, a lot of the students were doing ‘runs’, which is exchanging money for sex. But with the strike, just like a holiday, the rate of sex work will double.

“In this job, strike or holiday period is like a peak period. So, I urge them to stay safe because we cannot kick them off the streets. They should be safe and use condoms.

“The government needs to ensure that the strike is called off because if the students are left idle due to the closure of schools, it means the government is indirectly telling them to go to the streets.”

Meanwhile, the federal government has revealed that the ongoing strike action by the union may be called off “within the next one week”.

ASUU, an umbrella body of all university lecturers in the country, is currently on strike over the federal government’s failure to fulfil its 2009/2013 agreement with the union.
