Davido’s Producer Scammed Me!

A budding singer, Owolabi Oluwasegun, also known as X-Lyte, has accused Fresh VDM, a producer for DMW Entertainment boss and frontline act Davido of defrauding him.

Peruzzi’s Record Label Owner Claims Ownership Of Davido’s “FIA,” Other Hit Songs

The up and coming singer, who said his quest for stardom influenced his decision to feature Davido on one of his songs, disclosed that he paid Davido’s producer, who was supposed to produce the song, an undisclosed amount of money but he later refused to fulfill his promise of getting Davido to feature on his song as agreed.

In a chat with The Punch, the Babcock University undergraduate said:

“I didn’t cook up the story for publicity; I was truly scammed by DMW’s crew members. I had the impression that working with Davido would make me popular. Since I couldn’t get my money back, I felt music was the best way I could express myself. Even if I had gone to report the case to the police, I don’t think they would have done anything about it.”

“After meeting with Fresh and negotiating, he told me to pay to Kolo, another member of DMW. He then blocked me on WhatsApp and stopped picking my calls. I heard they are fond of such a thing. I recorded the song, Feature Davido, for other up-and-coming artistes not to fall victim.”

X-Lyte further revealed that “I paid money for production and to feature Davido. If you pay for a service, it should be delivered. Fresh VDM didn’t even do a production for me. If I had been scammed for featuring Davido alone I would not be this bitter; I would have ignored it.”

He added that though Davido was probably not aware of the business transaction, he doesn’t want a refund but for Davido to jump on his song.

“Davido was not aware I paid money. But when I went to their house, I saw Davido. He even shared the song on Instagram and Twitter. I don’t need a refund; I just want to feature Davido. My style is similar to Davido’s style and I like his music.”

It is understood that when Davido stumbled on the music video on social media, he shared it on Instagram and Twitter, calling the attention of Fresh to it.

He captioned the video clip, “this is the funniest thing I’ve seen all year. Fresh VDM, you are wanted.”

I’ll Serve One Term If Elected President In 2019 – Atiku

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar says if elected president, he will sign an undertaking to serve for just a term.

The former vice-president, who said this in an interview with THISDAY, added that his case would not be like President Muhammadu Buhari who allegedly reneged on his promise to serve for one term.

“If I am elected as the president in 2019, I give an undertaking that I would only do one term,” he said.

“Having said that, let me remind Nigerians that Buhari also gave such an undertaking in 2011, but he is not living up to it today. My own case will be different. I am prepared to sign an undertaking to do only one term.

“I am not Muhammadu Buhari. I do not make promises I cannot keep. I am assuring Nigerians that I will keep this promise. I am making it out here in the open.

“I am willing to sign a written document. If you or any other Nigerian can come up with an iron-clad legal document that binds me, I am willing to publicly commit to it.”

“Hypocrisy has always been the APC’s stock in trade. They claimed that the PDP mismanaged Nigeria for 16 years, yet in just three years of APC being in power, Nigeria experienced a recession, which we never experienced under the PDP.”

“Nigeria’s currency became the fourth worst performing currency in the world and in just three years, they have taken more loans than the PDP took in 16 years. They claim the PDP was corrupt, yet Nigeria made its best showing in Transparency International’s annual Corruption Perception Index under the PDP in 2014 when we moved eight places forward, from 144 to 136. Meanwhile, under the so-called anti-corruption government of the APC, we made our worst performance ever, moving 12 places backward, from 136 to 148.

“They claim that the PDP lost the war on terror and they declared victory. But look at where we are today? Terror has spread nationwide and the man who said the PDP was weak on terror says there is nothing he can do but pray! So when you talk about hypocrisy and the APC, you are referring to two evil twins that are so identical that one can pass for the other.”

Milner Hails Keita After Debut Liverpool Appearance

Featured Image

James Milner has hailed the performance of his teammate, Naby Keita after a standout performance in his debut Liverpool match.

The midfielder completed his move from RB Leipzig to Liverpool and play a key role in the 4-0 thumping of West Ham.

Keita was not on the scoresheet, as Salah, Mane and Sturridge gave Liverpool a commanding touch over West Ham.

“He’s a good player, you can see that straight away,” Milner told Sky Sports.

“He’s only going to get better, so to come into a new team, a new style of play, and to do so well, you can only imagine how good he’s going to be in a few months’ time with more games and more time with the boys.

“He’s a ball-winner, [with] great drive and fantastic ability as well. He’s top quality, like all the signings we’ve brought in.

“It’s more competition, which is exactly what you want. You look at some of the boys on the bench today and those who aren’t quite fit yet, it’s a great squad and exactly what we want.”

God Is Responsible For All The Evil In The World (1), By Femi Aribisala

CLICK here to read more opinion articles

As a Christian, life becomes a lot easier once we take God at his word. Nevertheless, many find it difficult to do so. One area of great difficulty concerns the origin of evil. Christians find it difficult to believe that God who is love is behind all the evil we see in this world. We would rather be diplomatic and attribute it all to the devil.

However, the devil is merely the servant of God. God says categorically that he is the author of evil: “I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create evil; I, the Lord, do all these things.” (Isaiah 45:7). Amos echoes this: “If there is calamity in a city, will not the Lord have done it? (Amos 3:6).

This piece was written by Femi Aribisala. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

Nothing good or bad happens outside of the will of God. The devil initiates nothing. He only does what God permits. (Job 1:6-12). “Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it? Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both calamities and good things come? (Lamentations 3:37-38). Thus, Job asks his wife: “Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” (Job 2:10).

Indeed, God takes issues with those inclined to limit him to one-dimension: “It shall come to pass at that time that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and punish the men who are settled in complacency, who say in their heart, ‘The LORD will not do good, nor will he do evil.’” (Zephaniah 1:12).

Counsel of God

The devil did not just happen: God created him. He was not God’s mistake; God cannot make a mistake. God created the devil to be a devil. Jesus says: “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree corrupt and its fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by its fruit. Offspring of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things?” (Matthew 12:33-34).

Who makes the good tree good and the corrupt tree corrupt? Only God; the creator of all things!

Popular Christian theology says the devil was created good, but he became evil. In short, he diverted from the purpose that God purposed. That is impossible! Nothing deviates from God’s purpose. The counsel of God is immutable. His will is always done. Paul says: God “works all things according to the counsel of his own will.” (Ephesians 1:11).

God is emphatic: “My purpose will stand.” (Isaiah 46:10). “Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will stand.” (Isaiah 14:24). The psalmist says: “The plans of the Lord stand firm forever.” (Psalm 33:11).

So where do Christians get the fallacy of a devil created good who then deviated to evil? The scriptural backing for this error is found in Ezekiel 28:1-19 where a lamentation of the king of Tyre is said mistakenly to be about Satan; and Isaiah 14:12-23, where a proclamation about the king of Babylon is also said incorrectly to be about Satan.

In actual fact, in Ezekiel 28, the king of Tyre is compared to Adam and not to Satan. It was Adam who was in Eden, the garden of God. (Ezekiel 28:13). It was Adam who was perfect in all his ways until iniquity was found in him. (Ezekiel 28:15). It was Adam who was cast out of the mountain of God. (Ezekiel 28:16).

The devil, on the other hand, was never perfect. God created the devil to be devilish. He says: “I have created the waster to destroy.” (Isaiah 54:16). Jesus also says the devil has always been devilish: “He was a murderer from the beginning.” (John 8:44). So, God did not make a mistake with the devil. The devil and his works are part and parcel of the will of God. As a matter of fact, the role of the devil is crucial in God’s plan of salvation.

Times and Seasons

So why did God create the devil, and why does God create evil?

God creates evil that we might know and appreciate the good. If we don’t know darkness, we would not appreciate light. If we don’t know evil we would not appreciate good. If we don’t know sickness, we would not appreciate good health. In short, God creates evil that we may know him: the good, merciful and compassionate God.

For this reason, God creates times and seasons of good and evil. Solomon says: “To every thing there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heavens: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pull up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-4).

Unlike man, God does things in twos: “The LORD makes poor, and makes rich: he brings low, and lifts up.” (Isaiah 2:7). The psalmist says: “God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: that power belongs to God. Also to you, O Lord, belongs mercy; for you render to each one according to his work.” (Psalm 62:11-12).

If God speaks once, it is absolutely essential to hear him twice. This is because the first time might be the expression of his power: But the second time will be the expression of his mercy. Remember: God’s mercy ultimately triumphs over God’s judgment. (James 2:13).

“For God does speak – now one way, now another – though man may not perceive it.” (Job 33:14). God’s second often brings his first into sharp relief. While the first might reveal the wrath of God, the second reveals the grace and mercy of God. Accordingly, the first man was Adam the sinner but the second man is Jesus the righteous. God first gave the law through Moses, where the wages of sin is death. Then he revealed his grace through Jesus, where the gift of God is eternal life.

The Resurrection and the Life

Make no mistake about it, God is a killer: “The Lord sent a plague on Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell dead.” (1 Chronicles 21:14). Don’t romanticise Jesus out of this either. Listen to his words: “I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. I will kill her children with death.” (Revelation 2:22-23).

However, unlike man who kills in order to destroy, God kills in order to make alive. Therefore, expect God to redeem life out of death: “The LORD kills, and makes alive: he brings down to the grave, and brings up.” (1 Samuel 2:6). “He bruises, but he binds up; he wounds, but his hands make whole.” (Job 5:17-18).

That is the beauty of our lord Jesus Christ. He creates evil in order to redeem perfectly from it. He kills in order that the redemptive works of God may be revealed. (John 9:3). Now you can understand why Jesus stands in glory as: “the resurrection and the life.” (John 11:25). CONTINUED.

Klopp: Lovren Will Be Back In Three Weeks

Featured Image

Jurgen Klopp has offered an update on Dejan Lovren and says the injured defender will be back inside three weeks.

Lovren missed out on the 4-0 thumping of West Ham due to a stomach illness, which made him miss training.

Klopp has now offered a timetable for his return to the lineup at Anfield.

“He is not fit. Let me say it like this, last year he already had a few problems with that but he could obviously play – and played really good,” Klopp told Liverpool’s official website.

“Recovery days were always enough then it was not a problem and he was in the next session again. We did not train a lot in the end of the season, of course, because we were more or less constantly playing, but he played constantly.

“Now in the World Cup, [playing] three times [for] 120 minutes it got a bit worse, but I am pretty sure it will settle in the next one, two or three weeks.

“In that time he can probably for sure train already, but not the full programme, so that will then take time.

“In the end, it is serious but not that serious. In the moment he is not available, that’s true.”

Ronaldo Scores His First Goal For Juventus – After 8 Minutes

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his first goal for Juventus in his first appearance in the Bianconeri shirt after less than 10 minutes on the field.

Sevilla Threaten To Quit Today’s Spanish Super Cup Against Barcelona

The Italian giant paid a whopping £99.2m to sign Real Madrid’s all-time record goalscorer – with Ronaldo leaving the Bernabeu with a barely believable record of 450 goals in 438 games.

After enjoying an extended leave after the 2018 World Cup coupled with his move from Real Madrid, the Portugal striker was finally introduced to fans in Sunday’s friendly against the club’s Primavera side.

The match is a traditional curtain-raiser in Turin, and gives potential first teamers the chance to test themselves against Juve’s young hopefuls.

Ronaldo latched on to a long ball from Federico Bernardeschi before composing himself and slotting the ball home. He played a part in the second goal as well, putting Riccardo Capellini under pressure as a low cross came into the box and the Juve youngster put past his own goalkeeper.

A Paulo Dybala double had the first team cruising before Claudio Marchissio added a fifth.

#ARSMCI: Man City Humble Emery’s Arsenal At Emirate

Manchester City ruined the start of the Unai Emery era at Arsenal as the champions signalled their intent to retain the Premier League title with a stylish 2-0 win on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola’s side swept to the title last term with a record 100 points and they were quickly back in the groove at the Emirates Stadium.

Sevilla Threaten To Quit Today’s Spanish Super Cup Against Barcelona

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring with a clinical finish early in the first half and Bernardo Silva’s thunderous strike capped a City success that served as a resounding warning to their title rivals.

No team has successfully defended the English title since Manchester United in 2008-09.

But on the evidence of this composed display, City have every chance of emulating their rivals’ achievement.

Picking up where they left off last term, City had too much class for Arsenal and easily repelled the hosts’ few dangerous moments.

City’s excellence underlined the size of the task facing new Arsenal boss Emery as the Gunners begin life without Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal were playing a competitive match without Wenger in charge for the first time since September 1996.

Emery was hired to replace Wenger following the Frenchman’s exit at the end of a dismal campaign which saw Arsenal labour to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League — 37 points behind City.

The Spaniard will need time to make his mark on a moribund club and, while Arsenal couldn’t be faulted for effort against City, there was precious little quality about their play.

Guardiola insists his players are still “starving” for success and there is little doubt City’s hunger for silverware remains strong.

The City boss started with Kevin De Bruyne and Leroy Sane on the bench as he recalled Sterling and gave a Premier League debut to Algeria winger Riyad Mahrez, whose move from Leicester was Guardiola’s only major close-season signing.

– Sterling impresses –

Sterling proved to be City’s creative fulcrum, but he was fortunate to escape with a yellow card for a studs-up foul on Arsenal debutant Matteo Guendouzi in the early stages.

The England winger showed the more pleasing side of his game with an incisive burst past Shkodran Mustafi that took him into the Arsenal area and ended with Petr Cech saving his rising drive.

Having spent the dying embers of Wenger’s reign subjecting the Frenchman to vitriolic abuse, Arsenal’s fans were energised by the sight of Emery on the touchline.

But that noisy optimism was punctured in ruthless style by Sterling in the 14th minute.

Taking possession on the left edge of the Arsenal area, Sterling glided past Hector Bellerin and Guendouzi before drilling a fierce shot that flashed past the unsighted Cech from 18 yards.

Arsenal finally threatened when Bellerin’s blast forced City goalkeeper Ederson to make a good stop.

Arsenal still looked anxious and Cech almost scored a bizarre own goal when his miscued pass across the penalty area crept wide of his unguarded net.

Making amends for that blunder, Cech kept out a Mahrez free-kick before alertly recovering to block Aymeric Laporte’s effort from the rebound.

Arsenal were pressing with more urgency than under Wenger, but City looked far more potent and Mahrez went close with a curling effort at the end of a rapid break.

Emery has challenged Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to finish as the Premier League’s top scorer after the Gabon forward netted 10 times in 13 games following his January move from Borussia Dortmund.

However, Aubameyang will need better service than he received against City to achieve that target.

Emery sent on Alexandre Lacazette soon after the interval and the France forward had an immediate impact, taking Aubameyang’s pass and shooting just wide.

City responded in emphatic fashion and Silva wrapped up the points in the 64th minute.

Sterling and Mendy outnumbered Bellerin on the right, with the French defender’s cross picking out Silva, who cleverly peeled away from his marker Stephan Lichtsteiner to fire past the exposed Cech.

Happy with the performance?

“I am really very happy because in the first part of the season I think that for us it is not easy to gain points. The first half was hard. If you look at the result you can think about an easy game.

“In the first half we were in trouble for 15 minutes against a very physical team, we are not a physical team. I think the best of the game was the capacity was to suffer for 15 minutes. But then I think the second half the opponents were maybe a bit tired, and it was a bit easier.”

Will Jorginho get caught out with his penalty?

“I don’t know, he has always kicked the penalty like today.”

How close are you to playing your style of football?

I don’t know the percentage. Only in certain moments in the game we have to improve to defend in the other half, to press especially against three defenders. We have to improve in moving the ball faster I think. In the first half we didn’t, we did it better in the second, but in the second there was more space and time.”

In the first half was it Huddersfield’s system that gained them the advantage?

“It was a really hard for us. They played all matches in pre-season in 4-2-3-1, only one match in 4-3-3. We have never seen them play 3-5-1-1, so we were not ready to this situation, for us it was a problem.

“This team has not the experience against every skill, maybe for the Naples in the last year it was not a problem. For Chelsea with some players only three days of training because the last came back two days ago. It is clear a little problem.”

Eden Hazard

“I think that Eden in this moment cannot play for 90 minutes, he has to improve and have training. I thought yesterday the best thing for him was to play 15 or 20 minutes when the opposition were probably tired.”88

Will you have the time to work with the players?

“We are lucky now because for three or four weeks we can work with only one match a week. We have to improve in this month, then it might be difficult with the three matches in a week with the suspension of the national teams. I hope in this month to improve the team.”

What is the different between England and Italian referees?

“The difference from the physical point of view it is different. For the referees it is different, really different. Maybe with an Italian referee maybe 15 more fouls than with this referee.”

I have to know the characteristics of the players, because I don’t want to do another Naples, I want to do a good Chelsea. I have to respect the characteristics of the players, I have to adapt myself of the characteristics of the championship and the players. So now I study my players.

Danny Welbeck Training At Left-back As Arsenal Continue To Look For Solution To Injury crisis

Featured Image

Arsenal manager Unai Emery praised Danny Welbeck for his versatility and said the striker has been training at left-back as they try to deal with an injury crisis.

Danny Welbeck plays in more advanced positions but with Sead Kolasinac out for two months with a knee injury and Nacho Monreal also unavailable for their Premier League opener against Manchester City the Arsenal manager has been toying with using the England international as a left-back.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles came on for Kolasinac after he was hurt in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Aug. 1 and Emery said following the match he would not rule out using the 20-year-old against City.

However, Emery said Welbeck has shown he can play all over the pitch: “Danny Welbeck is one of the players who has a multi-position possibility.

“Right winger, left winger, striker, and also yesterday he worked with us at left-back — his performance was good! I like this spirit. To help positions across the team with positive spirit.”

“I said to him when he arrived with us after the holidays, I want the best performance in his career from this player — and to work for that,” Emery said.

“[We will be] helping with his quality and also getting better with his quality and his data in this year. More goals, more assists. Working to help when we need quick pressing against the opposition.

“For me it’s clear. Yesterday the transfer window closed and our players will stay with us.”

Huddersfield Manager David Wagner Admits They ‘Deserved’ Defeat Vs Chelsea

Featured Image

Huddersfield manager David Wagner was unhappy to see his players lose to Chelsea in their opening match of the new Premier League season but admits they deserved the result

Huddersfield suffered a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea through goals from N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Pedro. But Wagner seemed satisfied with the effort from his players, praising their passion and commitment after the game.

“It was a disappointing afternoon,” he told Sky Sports in a post-match interview. “I think if we play Chelsea at home most people would expect us to concede a defeat, which we’ve got, and at the end, it was a deserved defeat. But I think we did have a lot of unlucky situations.

“We played well. The players have shown commitment, desire, passion and created chances. We hit the bar twice – once when we were 1-0 down after conceding a very unlucky goal from a deflection.

“It was Chelsea’s first chance more or less out of nothing and then we conceded the penalty, where we clearly made a big mistake. You can’t do that against Chelsea because they will hurt you, and that’s exactly what they did.

“Second half the baoys tried everything. They left everything on the pitch, but Chelsea showed their strength and that’s why we lost.”

Wagner also opposed the claims of his side possibly showing Chelsea too much respect.

“They had four or five chances and scored three goals and we were not able to use our chances,” he said in response to the notion. “Chelsea were strong today, but I don’t think we’ve shown too much respect. We really wanted to get something out of this game.”

Huddersfield suffered a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea through goals from N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Pedro. But Wagner seemed satisfied with the effort from his players, praising their passion and commitment after the game.

Luciano Spalletti Claims Luka Modric Wants To Leave Real Madrid For Inter Milan

Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti has claimed that Luka Modric wants to quit Real Madrid for the Italian club

Luka Modric’s future at the Bernabeu has been a subject of intense speculation since the end of the World Cup, having reportedly informed Madrid president Florentino Perez of his desire to leave.

Luciano Spalletti expects Modric to stay in the Spanish capital for the remainder of his two-year deal but is not completely ruling out a switch over the next few weeks.

“About Modric, it is the sporting director who deals with that. I am not sure how this will finish,” he told reporters following the 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid.

“That he has shown interest to join us is obviously positive, we are trying to create the right conditions for him to join Inter Milan.

“If Real Madrid wants to hold onto him, we would have to accept that, and I think that will happen. It does not matter so much, we are still a strong team, even if he does not join.”

Paul Pogba Admits He Can’t Speak About How He Truly Feels At Manchester United

Featured Image

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has said that he is unable to reveal how he truly feels under Jose Mourinho at as he risks being fined.

Paul Pogbahas reportedly told United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward of his desire to leave Old Trafford in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.

In an apparent attempt to thaw tensions, Jose Mourinho named Pogba as captain for United’s 2-1 win over Leicester City

Following an impressive display from Pogba, Mourinho commented that a player ‘always feels more comfortable when he is happy’.

In response, Pogba told PA: “If you’re not happy, you cannot give your best… There are things and there are things that I cannot say otherwise I will get fined.

“It’s not having just the armband. I have always been talking to the teammates. I am someone who is not in a role that I give to myself. Just try to help the team as much as possible, like they helped me too. Having the armband, it’s not like ‘oh, I will show that I am a real captain and have to do extra work’.

“I am still enjoying playing football, I still love football and I still give my best with the team, for the team. Like I said, when you are comfortable, when people trust everyone or confident, are good in the head, it’s going to be easier.

“I always love the club. I came to the academy, I grew up. I came from the academy, I played for the first team. For me, it was a dream come true. And wearing this, it’s even more because of the past, because of the players that played here, the people that have been wearing this.”

Pogba joined United from Juventus for a then-world record £89m in August 2016.

Wilshere: Wenger Sacking Shocked Everybody

Featured Image

Jack Wilshere has stated that Arsene Wenger was sacked by Arsenal and the decision was met with shock.

The Gunners have not lifted the league since the 2004 season and finished outside of the top four in the last two seasons.

At the time, Wenger said: “After careful consideration and following discussions with the club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down at the end of the season.”

Wilshere has now suggested that the three-time Premier League title winner was forced into that decision, rather than it being mutually agreed.

The England international told Football Focus on that decision, which came as he was weighing up his own options in the final year of his deal: “I was in the last year of my contract, and I spoke with the manager at the time, Arsene Wenger.

“And he said that they won’t be offering me a new deal and that I could leave.

“But at the time I was injured and it was difficult, because I wasn’t fit and I wasn’t playing, and not many teams wanted me injured.

“So I decided to stay and I got back into the team and they finally offered me a deal in January which was ready to sign, and then Arsene got sacked.

“It was strange, everyone was just shocked and Per Mertesacker, the captain, said a few words, and I think everyone was just in shock.

“It was strange. No-one really saw it coming, but it changed everything, and I wanted to wait to speak to the new manager.

“And I did, and he was brilliant, he was honest with me.

“He said you can stay, but you won’t be in my starting XI, so I thought it was the right time to finally leave.”

Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola Not Thinking About Premier League Title Yet

Featured Image

Manchester city boss Pep Guardiola has insisted that he will take the season game by game rather than focusing on retaining the Premier League title.

Manchester City are favourites to become the first club to retain the title in a decade, but Guardiola stressed that his sole focus is on Sunday’s season opener against Arsenal.

“The target is to win on Sunday and then, after that, (against) Huddersfield and then Wolves. At the end, we will see our level. I am focused on that, not focused on back-to-back (titles),” Guardiola told reporters.

“Winning is the best motivation and we will try to continue what we have done. Last season we were so happy. Why not try it again? If we play good and we are consistent we have a chance to repeat the Premier League. If we don’t we are not going to win.

“The [players] show me in two seasons, especially the last one, we can trust them. We believe we have a good squad. I like to work with these guys, I enjoy it. It’s excellent. They are excellent human beings. I like playing with them. The results I don’t know, but the process of being together is nice.”

Guardiola: Emery Is A Title Winner

Featured Image

Pep Guardiola has backed Unai Emery to make Arsenal a title winning side, in his first season at the club.

Arsenal have not won the League since 2004 and Wenger retired from his role, after finishing outside the top four in his last two seasons.

The Gunners hired former Sevilla and PSG manager, Emery, and Guardiola expects a formidable opponent.

“They can do it,” he told a news conference. “He has enough experience to know exactly what [it takes]. He was in France, he was with many teams in Spain, so he has a lot of experience.

“Maybe my advice is alright for me but it might not work for him. People spoke to me when I arrived saying it’s like this or like that, but I discovered many things during the process, watching what happens.

“He is a smart, intelligent, well-prepared manager, so he will know exactly what to do.

“I have a lot of respect for his career, starting from the bottom and making an excellent career, winning titles and making his teams difficult.

“Now he is at Arsenal, one of the best teams in England, and of course he is a contender to win titles.”

“Everybody is able to dream,” he added. “What we have done last season, now [people say] we are going to win [again] – nobody can assure me of that.

“By that thinking, last season we wouldn’t have won the Premier League because Chelsea won the year before.

“We just start again. That’s why it’s fascinating. Forget the World Cup and everything else, it’s a new challenge.

“Of course we accept the challenge to win back-to-back, but what we have to do is to be ourselves. That is the main thing we have to try to do.

“Even when you are perfect, the other team can be better. I have played in finals when we were excellent and you lose, because the others are good teams as well. And here in England there are many.

“Forget about Liverpool’s spending, because of course they have spent a lot, but last season they were a top team as well.

“Maybe Tottenham couldn’t spend because of the stadium, but Chelsea – imagine Jorginho, [Mateo] Kovacic and [N’Golo] Kante in midfield, and [Eden] Hazard, Willian, Pedro and [Alvaro] Morata in front. You cannot say they are not contenders to win.

“Or Manchester United. People don’t know how good they will be this season, but I know the manager a little bit and I know in that situation how good they will handle it.”

Gattuso: Higuain Cannot Carry AC Milan

Featured Image

Gennaro Gattuso believes former Real Madrid striker, Gonzalo Higuain cannot carry AC Milan alone.

The former Napoli striker made the switch on loan to Milan from Juventus with Caldara, as Bonucci joined Juventus on loan.

Despite his potential importance in 2018-19, Gattuso wants to avoid his team becoming too dependent on the prolific Argentina international.

“We’re going nowhere if we just rely on one player, even if it is Higuain. It’s not enough,” he told a news conference in the Spanish capital.

“In order to be credible, you have to do the work throughout the week, encouraging your team-mates and not insulting them. I’ve seen all of that since he arrived here.”

“Last season our biggest problem was that we played some attractive football without bringing home a result, and now we’ve got the same regrets, so it’s something we need to improve,” he said.

“We’ve got to avoid conceding goals at the end of each half. It was a good performance overall, the side is in good shape and plays well. In general, I am happy, as we have strengthened this summer.

“It’s true the gap with Juventus remains very large, but we are young and on the right track. If we continue like this, I don’t think it’ll take long to bridge that gap.”

Premier League: Arsenal Vs Manchester City Match Preview, Team News, Line-ups

Premier League

  • Arsenal vs Manchester City
  • 4:00 pm Sunday 12th August
  • Emirates Stadium

Arsenal’s new manager Unai Emery faces a very tough test in his first Premier League game, with champions Manchester City heading to north London on Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile City boss Pep Guardiola has warned that his players must better last season’s performances if they wish to win back-to-back Premier League titles

What the managers have said

Emery’s words will be music to Arsenal fans’ ears after years of leaking goals under Arsene Wenger: “Our style with the ball is to be protagonists, to do things with combinations, to control the match with the positioning of the ball. And then when we have space, to be aggressive going forward.

“Defensively: first it is to be organised, recover the ball quickly. But in these two moments in the match, we need to work. To say it here is easier than doing it on the pitch. We also need time, but now I am happy because I think the players are improving.

“We need two things: quality players, which we have, and then organisation. Together I think we can improve, to win in our way. I repeat: organised, then play.”

Guardiola is keeping taking things one game at a time: “Focus is most important in defending a title. Today we were training and we trained well.

“A big mistake is to think, ‘we are going to win or do this or that’, we need to prepare and do our process and don’t think too much about back-to-back titles.”

Team news

For Arsenal, Unai Emery will be hoping Aaron Ramsey is fit for Sunday’s match. Ramsey suffered a slight calf injury but has returned to training and could be fit.

Sead Kolasinac (knee) and Laurent Koscielny (Achilles) are out of the tie as new signings  Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi all push to make their competitive debuts.

Pep Guardiola confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon both Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne are available for selection for City, despite only returning to training this week following their three-week post-World Cup break.

Danilo (ankle) has been sidelined since picking up an injury during the World Cup with Brazil, while David Silva is also out having been absent throughout City’s pre-season campaign.

Riyad Mahrez could make his league debut for the club following his £60million summer move from Leicester.

Predicted Starting Line-ups

Arsenal: Leno; Bellerin, Mustafi, Sokratis, Maitland-Niles; Torreira, Xhaka, Ramsey; Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang

Man City  Ederson; Walker, Stones, Kompany, Mendy; Fernandinho, B. Silva, De Bruyne; Sterling, Sane, Aguero
