Ritual Killer Sexually Assaults 3 Year-Old Girl With A Stick

Featured Image

Cross River State Police Command has apprehended a suspected ritual killer who reportedly abducted a three-year-old girl and forcefully inserted a stick into her vagina in Ikang, headquarters of Bakassi Local Government Area of the State.

According to information gathered, the suspect kidnapped the girl while she was playing with her peers on February 28, and hurriedly took her to a nearby forest where it was discovered that he purportedly inflicted injuries on the victim.

The abductor, whose identity has yet to be ascertained, allegedly forced a stick into the little girl’s vagina.

The impaled little girl was rescued after her peers immediately raised the alarm and a search party combed the nearby forest where the suspected ritual killer was captured after he already wrecked unforgivable havoc on the child’s body.

The suspect was immediately handed over to the police at Ikang Police Division, while the girl (names withheld) had undergone several surgeries at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital.

Speaking on the matter, a medical worker in UCTH, Uche Okoro said the little girl was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition.

He said, “I picked interest in the matter shortly after family of the suspected ritual killer came to the hospital and offered to pay N10, 000 as part of the medical expenses.

“The incident happened at Ikang in Bakassi LGA. The three-year-old girl was brought to the UCTH in a critical condition.

“She was abducted by a suspected ritual killer and taken to the bush.

“Another girl that was with her when the incident happened immediately raised the alarm and a search party went to look for the little girl. She was found in the bush and the suspect was apprehended.

“Meanwhile, another one-year-old baby was found dead not too far from where the girl was rescued,” Okoro continued, adding that the girl was already bleeding profusely because she had machete cut and a wood was forced into her vagina.

“It was learnt that the suspect was handed over to the police while the child was brought to us for treatment, but at the moment, the hospital has carried out series of surgeries on her and she is in a stable condition.

“The concern here is that a family showed up and offered to pay N10, 000 to offset part of the medical bill. We found out that it was the family of the suspect.
My worry here is that how is this possible? Or are they acting on orders of the police?

“We just hope that the police have not compromised.”

Confirming the incident, the state Police Command spokesman, Mr. John Eluu said the suspect is currently in detention and investigations are ongoing.

Police Comb Lagos, Vow To Rescue 3 Abducted Boarding School Girls

Featured Image

The Lagos State Police Command has vowed to rescue three students who were abducted from their boarding school by unknown gunmen on the Ikorodu outskirts of the state.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command, Bala Hassan, who said operatives of the Command are currently hunting for three teenage girls who were abducted from the Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary School by unknown gunmen on Monday evening said:

“They are preparing for exams and went to the classroom to read and revise. It was in the process that the hoodlums came armed with Ak47 and started shooting sporadically and took three of them.

“The security forces, jointly, are doing everything possible to ensure that the three children abducted are rescued in good health. We have also given assurance of adequate security on the premises so that learning will continue.

“I have got some lead information from the commissioner of police and everything is on course. The deployment has not changed and the Ogun State Command has been contacted to make sure that that place is fully secured.

“The important thing is to rescue them safely back to their parents. It may take a couple of day and it may even be today. We are still going to the offices to do one or two things that will facilitate the recovery of these children.

“For now, we want to keep the identities of the children to our chest and see what we can do today, ‎tomorrow. I want to assure you that the security forces are on top of the situation.”

Kidnappings for ransom occasionally occur in the country’s commercial capital, but this is the first time a school in the city has been attacked by gunmen.

The school, linked to the Anglican Church, is reportedly one of the best and most expensive in Lagos state and is mostly attended by children of politicians and wealthy individuals.

However, some aggrieved parents have reportedly withdrawn their children from the school pending when security is improved.

Yinusa Yellow, the tricycle operator who allegedly abducted Ese Oruru, is currently cooling off at the police custody, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Bisi Kolawole has reported.

#JusticeForEse: Yinusa Now In Police Custody - Force PRO

The FPRO made the disclosure today, Wednesday at a news briefing held at the force headquarters in Abuja.

She said, “The tricycle operator is now in our custody,” adding that the girl would undergo a comprehensive physical examination.

The Nigeria Police Force also urged reporters to leave the family of Ese Oruru alone and allow them to heal.

In the meantime, the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, on Wednesday, ordered the setting up of a panel of inquiry to unravel reasons behind the delay in the rescue of Ese for more than five months.

Bear in mind, Kolawole, had during a press conference in Abuja yesterday, confirmed that Ese’s father, Charles, had reported the matter to the police since August 2015.

The FPRO, however, stated that the delays were as a result of “bureaucratic processes.”

Ese’s abduction has caused condemnation and monumental outrage on social media and across the country, as it has even spurred a campaign known as #FreeEse.

Nigerian Army Captures A Boko Haram Spy, 3 Others Involved In Madalla Bombing [Photos]

The Nigerian Army yesterday stated that it has arrested a man accused of spying for Boko Haram, along with three suspected accomplices who were involved in the deadly church bombing in Madalla over five years ago.

According to information gathered, one of the arrested informants, Moses was said to have carried out surveillance at the Madalla church before it was bombed.

Brigadier-General Abraham Dusu, who commands the Bauchi artillery brigade, said Moses “confessed to conducting surveillance for Boko Haram” from a shop near the St Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Madalla, near Abuja.

Speaking on the matter to the chief of army staff General Tukur Buratai, Disu said Moses, who was from the central state of Benue, aroused suspicion among locals in Bauchi, who in turn alerted the military.

He said: “Our troops on duty arrested Victor Moses after receiving a report from people in the area that the suspect had been loitering around the mosque claiming he was a Christian and wanted to convert to Islam,”

“But he was not from the area, they suspected him and reported to our men”.

It will be recalled, at least 44 worshipers were killed when a bomb ripped through St Theresa’s on December 25, 2011 in what was Boko Haram’s deadliest attack on Christian places of worship.

The Islamic death cult later claimed responsibility for the Christmas Day attack, which was one of several over the festive period.

Aggrieved PDP, APC, APGA Bigwigs Float New Political Party ‘PMP’

Featured Image

Splinter groups from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have teamed up with others in the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and the All Progressive Congress (APC) to propose a new party to be called Peoples Mega Party (PMP).

The new political group, PMP, which mainly consist of aggrieved members of the PDP, APGA, LP, AP and APC, held its maiden meeting in Abuja yesterday, and unanimously adopted Chief Perry Opara as its interim chairman.

During the party’s National Executive Council/National retreat, Opara told the delegates that the mission of the new political platform is to provide a very focused and patriotic body deviod of negative traits of impunity and confusion.

He said: “The major people who are in the party are former members of the PDP who are disenchanted by the high level of corruption, high level of impunity and high-handedness in the PDP.

‘’They have decided to form something very new and they are of the opinion that they should hand over the party to younger elements who are less corrupt and who can fight for the interest of the people.

“It does not mean that it is only people from the PDP, we have APGA chairmen from many states of Nigeria identifying with the new party, people from Labour Party, LP, and the Accord Party, AP.

‘’There are also disenchanted people from the APC that feel that they want a new place and that is what it is. Today marks the birth of this new party.”

However, Opara declined to mention names of those PDP and APC members floating the party, saying no one among them have given permission to make it open.

Mr. Opara is a top associate of Ahmed Gulak, a former political adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

Mr. Gulak, who is believed to be the key initiator of PMP, has recently been embroiled in a row with PDP leaders over his ambition to become the chairman of the party.

The yet-to-be registered party adopted the picture of a human being as its logo, while its slogan is: “Forward Nigeria.”

JAMB Releases 200,000 UTME 2016 Results Amid Concerns

Since the commencement of the on-going 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Saturday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released results of over 200,000 candidates who had written the examination.

This was brought to light by the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of JAMB, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, on Tuesday during the monitoring of the exercise in Abuja and its environs.

The Registrar said that over 200,000 candidates’ results had been released since the examination commenced on Saturday, just as the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, expressed concern over the plight and difficulties faced by non-computer literate students sitting for the examination.

The minister expressed his dissatisfaction with the conduct of the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode of the examination.

He said: “I seem to be very comfortable and happy with what they are doing. But my question has not been answered; that there may be people who are not computer literate, so, what do you do with them. I do not have reservation about CBT but I have sympathy for those who are not computer literate and there are many of them.”

Notwithstanding the minister’s reservation, Ojerinde urged candidates who had sat for the examination to visit the JAMB’s website and check their respective results.

He said: “More than one million, eight hundred and fifty thousand candidates applied to take the examination nationwide in 2016.

“The figures however recorded a slight increase of 113,673 candidates who applied for the examination in 2015.”

Meanwhile, some candidates, aside the lateness in starting the examination, expressed their displeasure with the English Language paper as answers to some of the questions were not made available.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer, JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said the portion in question is the comprehension part whereby they have to fill in the gaps.

He said “You know these students are in a hurry to finish and most of them don’t take their time to go through the questions. Even some candidates in one of the centers I visited pointed out that to me and I had to explain to them that in comprehension, you have to fill in the gaps. I can assure you that JAMB didn’t make any mistake when setting the questions.”

Ese May Have Been Hypnotised! Mr. Oruru Vows To Take Daughter To T.B Joshua

Featured Image

Mr. Charles Oruru, father of the abducted Ese Oruru, who regained freedom on Tuesday has declared that he will seek spiritual help from Lagos cleric, Pastor T. B. Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations.

READ: 13 Year Old Girl Kidnapped And Forced Into Child Marriage After Being Converted To Islam

His decision to seek spiritual help from the renowned prophet came on the heels of his 14 year-old daughter’s inability to come home after being released into the custody of the Police, as he feared that she may have been hypnotised.

He also blamed her defiant stance to come home on the trauma experienced, adding that it would take prayers before she can return to normal.

He said: “We have decided to visit the T. B. Joshua for prayers and thanksgiving. When I heard that she is declining to come home, I see this as a spiritual problem that can only be countered by prayer.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Oruru, has indicted the Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II, in his daughter’s travail.

Oruru, in a recent interview said Sanusi deserved no credit in the eventual release of Ese “as he only bowed to pressure from Nigerians”.

Oruru said, “The Emir did not play any role there. All security agencies in Yenagoa and in Abuja were also part of those who refused to help.

“That is the truth because when we got to Kano, we were told that the Emir had written a letter that the girl should be released on August 26, 2015, and this was not done.

“They wanted to keep the girl in Kano, but the pressure was everywhere after the whole world had heard about the matter, so he knew that if he didn’t release the girl, it would lead to a big problem.”

The Emir of Kano had on Monday refuted claims that he sheltered Ese, saying he had ordered that the girl be taken to her parents since 2015.

Ese Oruru, Emir Of Kano And Those Distorting The Narrative – Fani-Kayode

Featured Image

All those that are attempting to distort the narrative about the tragic plight of Miss Ese Oruru are evil and we commit them to God’s judgement. The facts are as follows. She is 14 years old and not 18 and she was abducted from her home. She did not leave her home freely or of her own volition. She was cruelly and wickedly carried away and stolen from her parents, family and loved ones and forcefully taken by complete strangers to a distant land that she had never been before on the other side of the country.

READ: 13 Year Old Girl Kidnapped And Forced Into Child Marriage After Being Converted To Islam

This is not a love story about two inseparable young people: it is a story about pedophilia, child abduction, kidnapping, human trafficking, slavery, rape, impunity, wickedness and ritual sex and Emir Sanusi has a case to answer. That little girl has been raped over and over again and she may well have aids, VVF or some other strange sexual disease by now.

Instead of sympathizing with her and considering the fact that she may never be the same again in view of the physical and mental torture and trauma that she has suffered over the last few months, some misguided souls and shameless commentators have the temerity to come to social media and say that she was old enough to “get it” whilst others say that she ”loved it” and ”wanted it”. I am utterly disgusted and appalled by these sentiments. Where is the humanity of those that speak and think like this? Where is their compassion and where is their soul?

READ ALSO: Elder Brother Affirms Ese’s Actual Age As 14

May God judge them and may their own infant daughters be abducted, forcefully Islamised, raped, enslaved and kept against their will as a sex slave in an Emir’s palace in the same way that Ese was.

Meanwhile I just watched an AIT video in which 14 year old Ese Oruru’s mother claimed that her daughters abductors said that it was the Emir of Kano himself that ordered her daughters abduction and that she was kept in his palace for over one year for his pleasure. If this is true it confirms the suspicion that the Emir is culpable. If what she has said is true it also proves that the Emir is not only a praticing pedophile but also a very sick man and he must be held accountable.

It is important that Emir Sanusi clears the air and tells us precisely what he did with this little girl otherwise we are entitled to assume the worse and believe what Ese’s mother has told us. Quite apart from that we are compelled to ask whether this sort of thing has happened before and how widespread it is? How many other little girls have been stolen from their homes and forced to join harems all over the nation?

The famous high society blogger and respected celebrity Miss Linda Ikeji has just exposed yet another case. This time it is a young 17 year old christian girl, by the name of Miss Patience Paul, who has been abducted from her home, parents and loved ones in Benue state, forcefully taken to Sokoto state and kept there against her will in the Sultan’s palace.

READ ALSO: Ese Allegedly Debunks Abduction Allegations, ‘I Want To Remain In Kano’

Evidently we live in a strange country where evil is swept under the carpet and often justified. We live in a country where those that expose such evil abominations and speak truth are demonised, hated, despised and, more often than not, threatened with violence, persecution, intimidation, arrest, spurious criminal investigations and baseless civil court actions. More often than not this is the price of speaking the truth and exposing evil in Nigeria.

There is clearly a conspiracy of silence about the perpetuation of evil in this country amongst the ruling elite. The feeling is that anyone can get away with anything providing they belong to a particular circle and class and providing they have money and power. And it is because they have money and power and they have powerful friends in government and in the political class that they feel that they can silence, crush, kill, abduct, cripple, ruin, sue and jail anybody that tests their will and crosses them or that exposes the truth about their blood-chilling and perverse ways.

That is the reality of Nigeria and it is a sad and sorry one. All I can say is thank God for the media and particularly for the Punch newspaper who started the ball rolling last Sunday. If not for their cover story about Ese with all those pictures on their front page the little girl would not be free and at home with her family today. Instead she would have still been in slavery and captivity at the Emir of Kano’s palace.

We should also thank the Nation newspaper particularly for their timely editorial on this issue which was published on 1st March and which raised some pertinent questions and offered wise counsel about the way forward. The Punch, the Nation, AIT, Channels, Tribune, the Sun, Vanguard, Thisday and all the other newspaper titles and television stations in the Nigerian media and social media has done what no-one else or no other group could do.

READ ALSO: Federal Government To Take Ese Oruru’s Abductor To Court

Not even the Federal Government, the state governments, the political parties, the politicians, the security agencies, the lawyers or the so-called human rights groups could do what they managed to do or achieve what they have achieved. They have helped to secure the freedom of a helpless and defenseless little girl from slavery, torment, humiliation, destruction, death, disease and bondage and they have brought her home safely to her parents. We need more of this. Kudos to them and God bless them all. And may God damn and shame those that chose to remain silent and look the other way.

I’m 16, My Sister Can’t Be 17’ – Ese’s Elder Brother Speaks: The Punch

Onome made the disclosure known when he was asked about his age.

He said: I am 16 years old. I was born on Nov 23, 1999.

Speaking on how he knew, he said: “Because my mother told me so and that is the date I celebrate my birthday every year. I just graduated from secondary school last year here in Bayelsa State, at the age of 16. All my peers are in my age bracket. I am certain of my age because I am old enough to know. Ese and I attend the same school. She was in JSS3 last year when she was taken away.”

He also brought to the attention of those who claimed that his sister is 17 years old saying:

“It is funny that these people are saying all sorts of things about my sister and her age. Everybody can see it, it is clear. I can’t be 16 years old, and my younger sister will be older than me. How can she be 17 years old, when my immediate elder sister, will clock 19 years old on March 7 this year? We all have about two years’ age difference in between. Ese clocked 14 on February 22.

Meanwhile report reaching us has it that Ese Oruru has arrived Abuja from Kano following a rescue operation carried out by the Nigerian police.

It was gathered that Ese, who was clad in a native attire and white hijab to cover her head, was ushered into the Nigeria Police Headquarters in Abuja at 12:55pm.

Upon her arrival, she was ushered into the office of the Force Spokesperson, Bisi Kolawole, accompanied by three men and two women; all dressed in Hausa native attires.

Reporters were prevented from taking photographs or conducting interviews with the teenage girl as the Force spokesperson explained that they were waiting for her parents, who are on their way from Yenagoa to arrive in Abuja before issuing a statement.

Obasanjo, Yar’Adua and Jonathan’s Governments Must Account For Recovered Loot – Court

Featured Image

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ruled that the governments of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and former President Goodluck Jonathan should account fully for all recovered loot.

The ruling is coming against the backdrop of a legal suit by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP).

The court ordered that the previous administrations, since the return to democracy in 1999, have “breached the fundamental principles of transparency and accountability for failing to disclose details about the spending of recovered stolen public funds, including on a dedicated website.”

While dismissing the counter arguments of the federal government on Friday, the presiding judge, Justice M.B. Idris delivered that the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration should “ensure that his government and the governments of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and former President Goodluck Jonathan account fully for all recovered loot.”

The court therefore declared that:

1) A declaration is hereby made that the failure and/or refusal of the respondents to individually and/or collectively disclose detailed information about the spending of recovered stolen public funds since the return of civil rule in 1999, and to publish widely such information, including on a dedicated website, amounts to a breach of the fundamental principles of transparency and accountability and violates Articles 9, 21 and 22 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act

  1. A DECLARATION is hereby made that by virtue of the provisions of Section 4 (a) of the Freedom of Information Act 2011, the 1st Defendant/Respondent is under a binding legal obligation to provide the Plaintiff/Applicant with up to date information on the spending of recovered stolen funds, including:
    (a) Detailed information on the total amount of recovered stolen public assets that have so far been recovered by Nigeria
    (b) The amount that has been spent from the recovered stolen public assets and the objects of such spending
    (c) Details of projects on which recovered stolen public assets were spent

  2. AN ORDER OF MANDAMUS is made directing and or compelling the Defendants/Respondents to provide the Plaintiff/Applicant with up to date information on recovered stolen funds since the return of civilian rule in 1999, including:
    (a) Detailed information on the total amount of recovered stolen public assets that have so far been recovered by Nigeria
    (b) The amount that has been spent from the recovered stolen public assets and the objects of such spending
    (c) Details of projects on which recovered stolen public assets were spent.”

Reacting to the ruling the deputy executive director of SERAP, Olukayode Majekodunmi, stated that:

“This judgment confirms the persistent failure of successive governments, starting from the Obasanjo government, to respect Nigerians’ right to a corruption-free society and to uphold constitutional and international commitments on transparency and accountability.

“The judgment is an important step towards reversing a culture of secrecy and corruption that has meant that high-ranking government officials continue to look after themselves at the expense of the well-being of majority of Nigerians, and development of the country.

“This is a crucial precedent that vindicates the right to a transparent and accountable government and affirms the human right of the Nigerian people to live a life free from want and fear. We are in the process of obtaining a certified copy of the around 60 pages judgment. SERAP will do everything within its power to secure the full and effective enforcement of this judgment.”

The details ordered by the court to be disclosed include; information on the total amount of recovered stolen public assets by each government; the amount of recovered stolen public assets spent by each government as well as the objects of such spending and the projects on which such funds were spent.

Wither Nigeria And The Words Of Ayo Fayose – Fani-Kayode

Featured Image

“We have all summoned courage. They have deceived us to take our inheritance. We are going to get our inheritance back. I want to say one thing: they have started again. I want to reveal one secret here. They have started subtle moves to make Nigeria an Islamic nation. But God will not allow it. This was done in 1984 but it failed. I cannot run away. I am Ayo Fayose. If you hit me, you hit trouble. If I hit you, you will be in trouble. Nigeria is a free nation and this nation will not be taken for an Islamic nation. Today, I decree the return of a PDP government in 2019″ – Governor Ayo Fayose, Port Harcourt, February 26, 2016.

Ayo Fayose’s words give cause for concern and I must confess that I share his views. Ever since my TED EX lecture in 2014 which was titled “The Rise Of Islamic Fundamentalism In Nigeria”, my greatest crime, in the eyes of my detractors, is that I have fearlessly and continuously stood up to and spoken out against the evil of Islamic fundamentalism and the cancer of Islamist terror in our country.

Whether it be Boko Haram and its numerous facilitators and sponsors, the Fulani militias and herdsmen, the APC hidden agenda of Islamisation of Nigeria or elements within the core northern ruling class who have often promoted and, in some cases, openly supported and funded terror and the cold-blooded murder of our compatriots, I have always stood against it.

This does not mean that I am anti-Muslim because I am not. I believe in religious diversity and I consider it to be a privilige to live in a plural, multi-religious and multi-ethnic nation where people of all faiths are respected and are allowed to live their lives freely. As a matter of fact, I believe that our diversity is our strength and that there is nothing more beautiful than true Muslims or true Christians practicing their faith in accordance with their traditions. We are, after all, all children of Abraham and what binds us together is our faith and belief in one God that created the universe and that rules in the affairs of men.

What I will not accept though is the implementation of a terrorist agenda and the destruction of the lives and ways of life of others by a small minority of religious zealots and ethnic bigots. I will not accept the fellowship of those that have been brainwashed and utterly possessed by the Salifist/Wahhabist philosophy which was covertly exported to much of the Sunni Muslim world by sinister and clandestine forces that reside in Saudi Arabia. I cannot abide those that kill in the name of God and that use the great faith of Islam to oppress others and force them to do their will.

Those of us that are not Muslims are not slaves in this country and neither can we ever be. Those of us that are moderate Muslims in this country and that do not share the abominable views of the Islamic fundamentalists and the Islamists cannot be slaves either. Yet, that does not mean that a misguided few will not attempt to impose their will on the rest of us. To this extent I wholeheartedly concur with Ayo Fayose’s view that there are covert moves by some extremists that are in the corridors of power to quietly and secretly Islamise our country and that they are attempting to do so with contempt and impunity. If anyone doubts that this is the case or believes that it cannot happen they should read the history of Turkey and find out how what was once a christian nation was eventually transformed into a full blown Muslim state.

The truth is that Fayose has said nothing new. I have said it many times before. I saw this coming and I warned Nigerians against it but no one would listen. Now the scales are slowly falling from their eyes. Two events in the last few days, more than any others in recent times, have confirmed this fact. First, there was the horrendous massacre of over 300 people in Agatu, Benue State, a christian community, by hundreds of well-armed Muslim Fulani militias and herdsmen. In their usual way, when it comes to atrocities committed by the Fulani militias, our government refused to comment on or react to the ugly incident for many days and up until there was a national and international outcry.

Second, there was the abduction of a 14 year old Christian girl by the name of Ese from her home in Bayelsa State to far away Kano, where she was kept from her parents, forced to convert to Islam, married off to an old man against her will and hidden in the Emir of Kano’s palace. All efforts by her parents to see and free their daughter have failed and to make matters worse, officials of both the state and federal government have refused to intervene and rescue the little girl from the slavery and torment of her abductors.
I wonder how much more shame, injustice and indignity we have to suffer as a faith and as a people before we react to such wickedness and injustice? We have even been denied the right to protest because when we do so we are accused, quite wrongly, of being anti-Islam. Well I am not anti-Islam but I am anti-injustice. I am not anti-Islam but I am anti-wickedness, anti-ethnic and religious domination, anti-slavery, anti-fascism, anti-religious extremism and bigotry, anti-pedophilia, anti-Boko Haram, anti-Boko Haram sponsors and anti-armed Fulani militias and herdsmen. I am anti-anything that brings blood, sweat and tears to my people and anti-anyone that kills, steals and destroys my nation and my compatriots.

I am anti-the dark forces from hell who have plagued our people with their unadulterated violence and their religious and ethnic intolerance over the years and who erroneously believe that they own Nigeria. The days of remaining silent out of fear of reprisals and insults or in the name of political correctness are long over. If I am the only voice left in Nigeria to do so I will continue to speak out and stand against this evil. I will also speak out against the notoriously indifferent, lukewarm, cowardly and stoic disposition of those amongst us who appear to be happy to be the victims and who are ready to accept this barbarity and live with it.

No matter what, I will not bend from this course, I will not flinch and I will not compromise. I will not run away from my calling and doing that which the Living God has called me to do. I would rather we redefine Nigeria than sit by silently as my people and those that share my faith are slowly and systematically turned into slaves by a tiny minority.

The situation in our country today gives cause for concern and raises many questions about precisely where we are heading. The assertion that Fayose has made compels us to ask, whither Nigeria? And there are many other troubling events that give us cause to ask the same question.

Consider the following. Thousands of IPOB members and Biafrans are regularly slaughtered by our security agencies. We must ask, wither Nigeria? Thousands of Shia Muslims are murdered in cold blood and regularly tormented by our Armed Forces. We must ask, whither Nigeria? Thousands of Middle Belters and southerners are regularly raped, abducted and butchered by Fulani militias and herdsmen. We must ask, whither Nigeria? Thousands of ordinary working class northerners are regularly massacred by Boko Haram. We must ask, whither Nigeria?

Yet all hope is not lost and we must not despair. I am glad that President Muhammadu Buhari has said that our country will not join the military coalition of Islamic nations that Saudi Arabia is putting together. This is a welcome development that has allayed the fears of many but it is clearly not enough and he must go further.

The next step that he must take is to properly address the agitation for Biafra and attempt to make life a little easier and better for the people of the East. He must acknowledge the fact that self-determination is an inalienable right and that the only way to forge national unity is by consensus and the enthronement of equity and justice and not by state-sponsored tyranny and the spilling of blood.
He must accept the fact that when you beat a child for long enough, one day he will stand up, say “enough is enough”, rise up in his own defence and beat you back. It is time for us to stop beating those that call themselves Biafrans and to stop regarding Biafra as a dirty word. It is time for us to enter into a meaningful dialogue with them rather than subject them to insults and opprobrium.

It takes nothing from Nigeria if and when we make these concessions. As a matter of fact the contrary is the case: it would simply confirm our humanity and reaffirm our sense of justice and decency. Whether those that hold the levers of power in our pathologically conservative and obsessive ruling class wish to acknowledge and accept it or not, today’s reality is that Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, rightly or wrongly, has become a hero to millions of young Igbos all over the world. His name is etched in their hearts and memories.

Like Che Guevera and Fidel Castro of old, he brings the hope of a new and better life to an aggrieved and abused people and a new generation. He is viewed by the majority of his kinsmen as the emancipator of an oppressed region and the champion of their collective aspirations and dreams. Simply put, he has been transformed and elevated into the status of a living symbol: a symbol of the their deep yearning for liberty and freedom.

We can be assured that the seed that he has planted in the psyche of the Igbo youth is here to stay. As each day passes, it grows bigger and stronger and it becomes more and more irresistible. The appropriate response to the agitation for Biafra is not the forceful establishment and implementation of an insidious and relentless religious and ethnic agenda, which is designed to hold Nigeria together by force because this will not work. Instead, it is a display of maturity, understanding, moderation, equity and fair play in all matters touching and concerning governance and the running of the Nigerian state. A better understanding and appreciation of this most basic of all principles will bring more stability to our country and more joy to our people. Indeed, it is the only way to guarantee our peace and it may well buy a united and indivisible Nigeria many more years.

Permit me to end this contribution with an insighful and timely word from Mr. Babatunde O. Gbadamosi who is an outstanding public commentator from an illustrious and distinguished lineage. On February 28th he wrote the following on his Facebook wall:

“The “Fulani Cattle Rearers” is a remix of the Serbian Vigilantes that Slobodan Milosevic used to intimidate the rest of Yugoslavia, until the Croats and the Albanians decided to fight back. Today, Yugoslavia is dead and buried, and Croatia is one of the success stories of Europe. If some people think they can intimidate the rest of us, the arms dealers are looking for customers, and the same people that sold them guns will sell to everyone else”.

I am a man of peace and I abhor violence, yet this is indeed food for thought.

Nigerian Armed Forces Launch New ‘Harmonised’ Camouflage

Featured Image

The Nigerian Armed Forces have inaugurated the harmonised military desert and woodland camouflage uniforms to check the proliferation of camouflage uniforms across the country.

The harmonised camouflage, which was launched on Monday in Lagos by the Air Force, will now be the official camouflage of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force and the Nigerian Navy.

The new development will have all the arms of the Nigerian military wearing the same camouflage uniform and also having a common system of identification.

The Air Officer Commanding, Logistics Command of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Muhammadu Muhammed, who launched the camouflage on behalf of the Chief of Air Staff, opined that the introduction of the new harmonized camouflage will control the proliferation of camouflage among military, paramilitary and civil security outfits.

Muhammed said: “Over the years, the various armed services in Nigeria had used different shades of the camouflage for military operations and exercises.

“Akin to this was the proliferation of the camouflage among several security, paramilitary and civil security outfits.

“This development has dire implication on our national security. It is the recognition of these consequences that the higher management of defence adopted the Desert Camouflage and Woodland Camouflage for our Armed Forces.”

The Air Force boss also said that “the harmonisation is also expected to promote joint-ness among the Armed Forces, as well as foster comradeship and inter-service cooperation.

He added that the Nigerian Air Force had already distributed a total of 4,000 camouflage to the personnel, who are involved in internal security duties, while an additional 9,000 new camouflage would be distributed soon.

What would differentiate soldiers now would be the tags on the left side of the chest, signifying whether the soldier is an Airforce, Army or Naval officer.

Images of the new camouflage to be published later.

Ese Allegedly Debunks Abduction Allegations, ‘I Want To Remain In Kano’

In a shocking development, 14-year-old, Miss Ese Oruru; the girl who was allegedly abducted from her Bayelsa home and taken to Kano for a forced marriage has on the contrary stated that she is not interested in reuniting with her family, claiming also that she was not abducted from her home.

The teenager, in an exclusive audio recording obtained by Premium Times on Monday averred that she came to Kano to convert to Islam.

“My name is Aisha Chuwas. I am 17-year-old. I came here to be a Muslim and I will stay here,” she said in the audio, upon her interrogation by a police officer.

Huwaila Mohammed, a human rights lawyer, who was granted access to the teenage girl at the Zonal Police Headquarters in Kano, before her departure to Abuja, said upon interrogation, she understood the girl was never forced to convert to Islam.

“I was there to protect her rights,” Ms. Mohammed said. “When I approached her initially, she refused to talk to me. Later she opened up to me.

“She is very defiant. She told me she was born in February 1999. I personally wanted her to reunite with her family, but surprisingly she asked me to tell her mother that she will never return to Bayelsa.

“The police should ensure that she is protected and returned to her family. She is still not matured enough to take such a weighty decision without parental consent.”

While interrogating Miss Oruru’s lover, Yunusa Yellow, the human right lawyer established that he is 18-year-old man “not anywhere above 20”.

“I was surprised when I saw a very small boy. He is just 18-year old. I was enraged thinking that it was an old man involved in the saga. From the way I see it, they eloped not because of religion but love,” she said.

Ms Mohammed, however, maintained that Miss Oruru is a minor, and under Nigerian law, she is not considered matured enough to take a decision to convert to another religion and leave her parents.

Meanwhile, Ese and her alleged abductor were being flown to Abuja from Kano on Tuesday morning in company of an assistant commissioner of police and other top ranking officers.

“I won’t believe anything until I see my daughter, Ese, in person,” he said.

FOREX Critics Face Shame As Naira Gains Value Against Dollar

Featured Image

Speculators have gotten their fingers burnt severely in the sharp appreciation of the Naira against the Dollar at the parallel market as strong indications have emerged on the efforts of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to stabilise the country’s currency.

READ ALSO: Naira Rises To ₦364 Against Dollar For 2nd Day In A Row On Parallel Market

According to a high ranking official of the Apex Bank, the deployment of a number of measures by the bank may have turned the tide in the foreign exchange (FOREX) market and led to the severe punishment suffered by currency hoarders and speculators.

The CBN had last week held that foreign currency speculators were to be blamed for the spiraling inflation of the naira, which depreciated to an all-time low of almost N400 to the dollar.

Governor Godwin Emefiele of the Apex Bank had accused speculators who connived with bureau de change operators to undermine the efforts of the bank of propping up the naira and warned that such speculators would eventually be punished by the market.

Last week, it became apparent that the recent depreciation of the naira was not as a result of genuine demand but the insatiable urge of speculators, many of whom had got burnt in the sharp appreciation of the naira.

READ ALSO: Naira Strengthens Against Dollar After Buhari’s Defiance On Devaluation

The value of the naira which started last week at N367 rose to N350 by Tuesday and N305 by Wednesday.

There had been a wide gap between the selling price and the buying price on Wednesday, as Money changers bought from customers at N270 per dollar but sold at average of N305 per dollar.

Speaking on the wide gap between the buying rate and selling, a bureau de change operator said: “People had bought when the rate was N370, and they are already making losses. But by combining dollars bought at N270, the average buying rate becomes N320. So at N305, they are still losing about N15 per dollar.”

Although it rose again to N350 to the dollar at the close of business activities on Thursday, the naira closed the week stronger at N315 to the dollar.

READ ALSO: Again, Buhari Says No To Devaluation Of Naira

Counting their losses, a good number of the sellers who had suffered huge losses confessed that they had bought at the rate of N380, hoping to sell at N400 before the sudden turn in fortunes.

Meanwhile, a source within the apex bank said: “The aim of the CBN is to ensure that the divergence between the official and parallel rate does not exceed N3, so we are looking at a parallel market rate of N200 to the dollar because the downward trend in the pressure on the naira will be sustained. The CBN has the capacity to sustain the downward pressure and will deploy further currency management initiatives while capitalising on fiscal policies of the federal government to remain in support of non-devaluation of the naira. The current stand of the federal government on Nigeria’s legal tender is non-devaluation. It will be unwise for anybody to be hoarding dollars because we can assure you that the naira appreciation is going to trend upwards going forward.”

Currently, the naira as gained value against the dollar which sells at N305.

Father Stephen Crossan, 37, who admitted that he didn’t have an ‘issue with drugs’, was seen using a £10 ($14) note to inhale the illicit substance during a party at his house located on church grounds after a night of drinking.

“I shouldn’t before snorting the white powder off a plate while talking to a friend,” the vicar of Christ could be heard saying in the video.

Speaking to The Sun Newspaper’s Ruth Warrander, after the tape was made public, Crossan admitted to the affair but maintained he did not have a problem with substance abuse.

He said: “It was just the one night and that was it. I do not have an issue with drugs,”

As for the Nazi paraphernalia adorning the priest’s apartment, one source who spoke with the British-based tabloid said that they were shocked by the display.

“The house was lovely but we were stunned to see the Nazi stuff. It was all over the house. At one point Stephen put on a cap and did the Nazi salute.

“It’s shocking. He’s supposed to be an upstanding member of society.”

The source said that the footage was shot at the end of a two day bender after which the priest invited a group of people back to his home.

When asked about the Nazi decor gracing his parish apartment, Father Crossan, who has worked as a prison chaplain, told the paper:

“I’m no Nazi. I collect historical stuff. There’s stuff there from every country.”

Behold The Man Of God Who Observe Sabbath On Monday

Featured Image

The Senior Pastor of Bible Believing Church Incorporated, Aba, Abia State, Kingsley Innocent has divulged what he does – favourites – aside church activities.

According to The Sun publication, the Man of God, who is fondly called God of ”Talk-na-do”, revealed that Monday is his day of rest, a day to unwind.

Here is an excerpt from The Sun publication below:

Favourite Bible verse: It is Galatians 6: 7 which says: “ Be not deceived for God is not mocked, whatever a man sows, that shall he reap” This passage has guided my life over the years. Whenever I want to do anything, the first thing that comes into my mind is be careful about what you sow, for so whatever a man sows, he must surely reap it. It has been like a guide and watchdog to my life and it follows me.

Favourite number: It is three, because of the Trinity. Even, when I minister, I mention some words thrice. It brings me home and calls me back to where we belong.

Favourite club: My favourite is FC Barcelona of Spain. Anytime, I travel to Spain, I must visit Barcelona. I like the club. My tight schedule does not allow me to watch them always when they have a match but I follow the activities of the club.

Favourite player: He is Lionel Messi of Barcelona. I have argued with my friends last year that when the World Best Footballer of The Year was given to Cristiana Ronaldo of Real Madrid, I posted on the internet that it was wrong because deep in my heart, I believe that Messi should have won it. Due to my soft spot for him, he is my best player and I see him as one of the greatest players in football.

In Nigeria, Austin Jay jay Okocha formerly of upper eagles is my favorite player because nobody does it better than him. He has the skills and mastery of the game.

Favourite shoe: I like Morris shoes because of the shape.

Favourite cologne: Among all the colognes that I use, my favorite is Black Orchid.

Favourite day of the week: Definitely, it is monday. After Sunday Service, when and if am in town, it is on Monday, which is my resting day. Although, sometimes, I don’t get to rest on that day. On Mondays, you will see me wear casual clothes and feel like a young man.

UBA Simplifies BVN Registration Procedure: You Need To Read How It Works

Featured Image

The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has launched a simple, seamless process for customers of the bank to submit their Biometric Verification Numbers (BVN).

Following its robust information technology infrastructure, on Monday July 6, 2015, the bank launched a short code number 9196# through which customers can send their BVN.

The Director, Group Information Technology of the Bank, Mr. Rasheed Adegoke, said; “The process is very simple. All a customer has to do is to send his or her valid BVN from the telephone number that was used to open their account to the short code number and it will become automatically linked.”

The introduction of this simplified process was in response to some of the challenges associated with the ongoing BVN exercise. “UBA has come up with this novel process to ensure that customers who already have their BVN do not have any issues submitting it to their alternate banks” explained Adegoke.

Once a customer submits his/her BVN through the code, they will get an immediate response letting them know whether their BVN is valid or incorrect.

The responses will be accompanied by a phone number through which further inquiries can be made by the customers if required.
