After saying a move to Manchester United is “possible” last night, Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann has been speaking again today at the launch of his autobiography “Behind The Smile”.

“Today if I have to move it will be no problem,” he is quoted as saying by L’Equipe. “It may be England because that is fashionable, Germany, China or the United States. I’m ready to go.

When pressed further and asked the probability on a scale of one to 10, Griezmann said: “Six.” He was then asked if he understood what he was saying, and replied: “Yes.”

It may also not be long before a decision is made on the France international’s future. “I should know more in the next two weeks,” he said.

Brad Jones Extends His Contract At Dutch Champions Feyenoord

Featured Image

Brad Jones has signed a two-year contract extension with Dutch champions Feyenoord.

Jones kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the Eredivisie last season (17) to help Feyenoord win their first league title in 18 years.

“Perfect way to end a perfect season,” Jones wrote on Instagram.

“Happy to say I have signed a new contract to stay at this amazing club for two more years.”

Since signing for the Rotterdam club in 2016, Jones has chalked up 32 total appearances in all competitions.

Feyenoord director Martin van Geel said Jones’ retention would be important for the club’s European Champions League campaign next season.

“We are very pleased that we have kept Brad at Feyenoord,” van Geel told the club’s website.

“He has had a very strong season with a lot of clean sheets and has thus played an important part in the championship.”

Jones signed for Feyenoord following an injury to first-choice Kenneth Vermeer mid-last year, despite being a reserve for Bradford City in the English third tier just months earlier.

The Perth product’s career took a downward turn in 2015 when English giants Liverpool let him go after only a handful of appearances over five years before stints with Bradford and Dutch outfit NEC.

Rob Holding Reveals How He Almost Left Arsenal In January

Featured Image
Rob Holding has revealed how he almost left Arsenal to loan in January.

The defender started the first three Premier League games of the season but then did not feature until an extended run towards the end of the campaign.

“I didn’t leave in January as the boss wanted me around the team. He saw me playing,” Rob Holding told the Evening Standard.

“I just had to listen to him and keep working hard on the things he mentioned. That has spoken for itself over the last few games.

“Since I got the chance, I’ve managed to take it and the boss has shown some faith in me to keep me in the team.”

Holding’s return to the team last month coincided with Wenger’s switch to a 3-4-2-1 system, a decision which took many at the club by surprise.

It was a formation first trialled against Middlesbrough after only a few days’ training but Holding revealed he has a head-start on learning the specifics, having been part of an experiment involving a three-man defence earlier in his career.

“We had a little play with it at Bolton under Neil Lennon when I first got back into that team,” he said. “I like playing in a back three, it gets me playing on the ball more and I can get to bring it forward which I like doing. It suits us at the moment.

“I have no idea if it’s the best system for me.

“I just like playing and when I get out there on the pitch, I just do the best I can in whatever formation we are put in.”

Real Madrid Confirm Signng Of Flamengo’s Vinicius Junior

Featured Image

Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Vinicius Junior from Flamengo from July 2018.

The 16-year-old will remain with his current club until July 2019, although he could play for Real Madrid before that if both clubs agree.

Wonderkid Vinicius was already being described to be the ‘the next Neymar’ before his first professional game.

And after coming on in the 80th minute of the opening game of the season against Atletico Mineiro, he caught the eye of several European giants.

He beat Barcelona star Neymar’s youngest debut record by a year and managed to get idol Robinho’s shirt in a huge day for the youngster.

Vinicius has also shown his talents at international level; in March he was top scorer in the Under-17s Copa Sudamericano, with Brazil beating Chile to claim the title.

The story of this young prodigy is fairly common among Brazilian stars; born into desperate poverty, the young striker’s talent was spotted in a city on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, in the streets of Sao Goncalo.

He moved with his uncle to central Rio at the age of 14, in order to dedicate himself to football and graduated through the club’s competitive youth system.

His introduction to big stage was emphatic; in October last year, he scored the opening goal in the Clasico against Botafogo in the Rio de Janeiro Junior Cup.

Jordan Ayew Talks About Scoring His First Swansea City Goal

Featured Image

Jordan Ayew has talked in glowing terms of his mid-season move from Aston Villa to Swansea.

“It has not been easy for me this season,” he told the club website. “I came from Aston Villa in January. I was lucky the club had confidence in me and brought me here. I don’t know what to say – thank you is not enough.

“I am so happy here. I feel like I have been reborn.”

Ayew admits he is aiming to have a strong pre-season to ensure he is in immaculate condition ahead of the 2017-18.

“It was a really good time (to score his first goal),” said the Ghanaian international.

“The team did a really good job so I have to congratulate them, it wasn’t easy but I’m really pleased to get my first goal.

“The most important thing for me was the team, I couldn’t think about my personal situation.

“I knew that it would come one day.

“The best is yet to come from me. This season was really difficult for me, at Aston Villa it was difficult.

“Next season I’m going to be at Swansea so I’m going to have a good preparation, rest well and come back fresh and hopefully I’ll have a wonderful season.

“I hope people are happy with the club’s survival and hopefully next season we will not have this situation, we want to keep this momentum going into next season.

“We need to build on this because if we’d done like we have since January over the whole season.

“The team spirit has been magnificent but it’s important to keep Gylfi (Sigurdsson) and (Fernando) Llorente, they are great players. They are part of our survival season, scoring goals and making assists.

“I had confidence in the style of play and in the coach so I came and did my maximum best.”

West Brom Must Recruit Over The Summer- Tony Pulis

Featured Image

Tony Pulis admits West Brom will need to spend in the summer, but only for the “right players”.

The Express and Star say Albion are expected to “comfortably break previous club records” with their summer outlay.

And they quote Pulis as saying: “I think it’s going to cost more money every year to improve, that’s the way it is.

“But you have to get the right players. It’s not just about bringing players in and spending money, you have to spend the money in the right way and they have to be the right characters and the right players.

“The important thing is they have to be players who are going to be in your starting XI and that moves everything forward.”

Tony Pulis is flying over to Guangzhou tomorrow to speak to owner Guochuan Lai, and will point to this run as evidence the team needs strikers and defenders.

“It’s disappointing,” he said. “The final games of the season have highlighted the fact we need to be better in both thirds of the pitch.

“The opportunities we had when we were in control of the game are there to be taken and we have to take those chances.

“Their first (Swansea) goal is a third division goal. Sigurdsson has got great quality, but our marking is absolutely shocking from two defenders.

“That is what has happened. We’ve been leading games this year. Even if we were a little bit more stubborn we would have drawn games and won games which we haven’t.

“We haven’t been able to see them out. We need to improve at both ends of the pitch.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic Will Help Us In The Europa League Final- Ander Herrera

Featured Image

Ander Herrera has claimed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will offer his help to his teammates for Wednesday night’s Europa League final.

The former Sweden international will play no part in the showdown in Stockholm as he recovers from a serious knee injury, but he will be with the travelling party.

Ashley Young, who is nursing a hamstring problem, will also be with the rest of the squad to provide support.

“When you want to win a European trophy and you want to make a good season, it is not only on the pitch, you need help from the outside,” Goal.com quotes Herrera as saying.

“Zlatan is here to help, Ash is also here to help. We are a team who is together. Everyone is important.”

When Ibrahimovic suffered his injury at the end of last month, concerns arose over whether he would even play again due to the severity of the injury at his age.

Herrera stated at the time that he had no reservations about his return due to the forward’s supreme physical state and that view has not changed after seeing him post-op.

“He is with us, he is supporting us,” Ander Herrera added. “I think he is very good. He is optimistic. He is 100 percent sure he will be back because he cannot stop winning. He cannot stop scoring. For sure he will be back at the best.”

Security Measures In Place For Europa League Final In Stockholm- UEFA

Featured Image

UEFA has released a statement claiming that there are no suggestions that the Europa League final will be targeted by terrorists following the attack in Manchester.

Twenty-two people were killed and a further 59 injured when an explosion went off shortly after 10.30pm when American popstar Ariana Grande finished her concert at the Manchester Arena.

Police have confirmed that children are among the fatalities, and that one man carried out the attack alone and died at the scene.

Manchester United, who have paid tribute to the victims of the attack, are due to face Ajax in the Europa League final in Stockholm on Wednesday night.

The European governing body’s statement read: “UEFA is shocked by last night’s attack in Manchester. Our thoughts are with the victims and the families of those affected. There is currently no specific intelligence which might suggest that any of the UEFA Europa League final activities in Stockholm may be the target of attacks.

“UEFA has been closely working with local authorities and the Swedish FA for many months and the terrorist risk had been taken into account since the very beginning of the project.

“Furthermore, a number of additional security measures were implemented following the attacks in Stockholm last April. Due to the tight security arrangements, UEFA urges fans to arrive at the stadium as early as possible, as detailed checks will be made at the entrances, resulting in potential delays in accessing the stadium.”

The final will be staged at the Friends Arena and kickoff is scheduled for 7.45pm.

Moyes Resigns From Sunderland Job

Featured Image

David Moyes has decided to leave Sunderland, resigning his position as a manager, following their relegation from the PL.

Moyes oversaw a season that saw Sunderland finish bottom of the league, with just six wins from 38 games.

The former Everton, Manchester United and Real Sociedad manager announced his decision on Monday.

Speaking about the decision, chairman Ellis Short said: “I pursued the services of David Moyes for a considerable period prior to his appointment last summer, which makes the announcement of his departure difficult for everyone concerned.

“Having worked tirelessly throughout the campaign to avoid relegation from the Premier League, David has chosen to leave the club without compensation, which is testament to his character.

“In the days ahead we will take some time for reflection, and then focus on recruitment and pre-season as we prepare for our Championship campaign. We wish David well in the future.”

Moyes said: “I would like to thank Ellis Short and the Board for giving me the opportunity to manage Sunderland and the fans for always being so passionately supportive of their club.

“I wish the players and my successor well in their efforts towards promotion back to the Premier League.”

Thurman Questions Brook’s Ability

Featured Image

Keith Thurman believes Kell Brook must show he is good enough to be among the best welterweights in the division.

Brook is looking to target Thurman for his WBC and WBA belts after defending his IBF belt successfully.

However, Thurman does not think Brook has what it takes to slug it out with the best in the welterweight.

“Of course Kell Brook came over here to America to take the title back home but for this one, he has fluctuated in weight classes,” he exclusively told Sky Sports.

“I am just interested in how bad he wants to be a welterweight and establish himself as one of the best welterweights in the world today.

“It is going to be difficult (moving back down to 147lbs) if he wants to hold onto that title and in my opinion, he didn’t do enough at welterweight before moving up anyway.

“For me, that is what this fight is about. In my opinion, there is so much going on at 147 but he had to go up two weights just to make a big fight happen.”
